This was so much scarier than I expected! There were two times that I had to pull the headset off to remind myself I was home and it was daytime. I also found myself flailing my arms to punch away the demon/ghost creatures. And I would not consider myself a horror wimp. For reference, I completed MadisonVR with a haptic vest and don’t recall ripping my headset off abruptly.
This game made me Nope out TWICE 😆
This game also has three separate game modes, or levels, which is cool since it’s a fairly short experience otherwise. I have played the main Manor level once and did their darkness” level. I have not yet played their “gauntlet” level yet.

This walkthrough game gets played EVERY time I use my headset - Now I'm on the PCL and graphically it just can't get any better - the only problem is they have 2 other games that they wont release!! This is a VR crime in my book. Anyhow, you do have the Oculus version that's a bit different so check that out as well.

7/10 - good 'Haunted House' experience

the Ugly,
While you can install the legacy version, selecting beta in properties.
the controls don't work (Quest 3)
VD & Steam Link & Air Link, none of them work.

the Good,
the normal version, works well with Virtual Desktop.
not the best graphic as the legacy version, the visuals are crisp.
while mostly.. jump scares, good haunted mansion experience.

the Bad,
About 30 mins, to do all the 3 parts once, including the tutorial.
but the 'Affected Manor' part has different paths to take,
so about Total 1 Hour game play,

Short, but would be great for Family & Guests VR.
but for solo play, its a play it once then gone.
Worth it at Sale.

Shame I had to refund this game but it literally would not work, every time the game opened it just would refuse to open in the Meta Quest interface so I would try and use mouse and keyboard to snap to full screen, it just would not go into full screen and wouldn't even detect the motion from the hand controllers either.

I imagine this game is good and that's most of the reason I bought it because I heard it was one of the scarier VR games to play but couldn't even get it to open so can't recommend it unless there is fix for this

Where do I begin. Originally started playing their affected games via Oculus DK2. So good. Then they came out with the official version on Oculus Rift- it was one of the most immersive and best experience to this day. Then the Quest version came out. This is where the problem began. They created a super watered down version for quest, and now forced me to play this version on Steam, not allowing me to revert back to the non updated version. I could no longer play the original version that was so amazing. They then said they would offer the "legacy" version to address this- I was overjoyed. Well- the Index controllers would not work, and I even bought the original Vive controllers and they also would not work. What kind of developer does this? The new versions are not good. Bring back the old version I paid for on Steam- you will never get us to buy the newer game you are working on when you robbed us of what made the game initially great-we paid for the good version and you forced the watered down 5th grader graphics version. All we are asking is let the legacy version actually work like you claimed it would since that is what we paid for.

C'est vraiment le genre de jeu auquel il ne faut pas jouer si vous avez un coeur fragile. Pour les amateurs de gros jumpscares par contre, ce jeu est absolument génial ! Je n'ai jamais autant hurlé dans un jeu d'horreur mais c'était vraiment trop cool ! Ici, pas de puzzle ou de cassage de tête, on suit un chemin linéaire et on explore (subit) pendant environ 15-20 minutes pour chaque chemin. A priori il y en a deux différents + une sorte de course chronométrée pour vous mettre en jambe (EDIT : Je viens de voir qu'il y a un 3e chemin à faire à la bougie cette fois, trop bien !)

J'ai vraiment kiffé ce jeu, son atmosphère, ses décors, les jumpscares qui ont très bien fonctionné pour moi et la durée de jeu qui était largement suffisante vu l'intensité de l'expérience. Après je n'aurais pas dit non à encore + de chemins à explorer, en tout cas c'était vraiment top. Je recommande !

値段も1000円と安く、なかなか楽しめる作品。
VR専用なのでVR機器を持ってないと遊べないが、
持っている人はまず遊んでみるといい。
画質もよく、演出もいいので、
VRホラーゲームの入門にオススメといってもいいゲーム。

Разработчики убрали лучшую по графике и атмосфере версию, заменив ее на версию для второго окулуса квеста. Игру прошел за час и рекомендовал бы, если бы не такое наплевательство. Оригинал то добавили в бета-версии после всех жалоб, но никакие контроллеры, кроме htc vive, там не работают - а ведь исправить это легче легкого, но разрабы забили.

The old version I played on Oculus had much better graphics. It was one of the first VR games I played and it is still one of the best VR experiences I had.

But then sadly it got updated and questified, meaning, the graphics have gotten much worse.

I bought the game again on Steam, because the devs provide the legacy version as a beta, but sadly it doesn't have controller bindings for my Rift S Oculus Touch Controllers. An error message appears, because it cannot find a file called "action.json". It seems the game is trying to load the action.json from the folder of the official version. So I also installed the official version alongside the legacy version and the error message disappeared. But still, my Oculus Controllers do not work. In Steam VR I can select the Oculus Touch Controllers for the game and the buttons seem to work just fine, but they do not work in-game.

If the legacy version would work, I could recommend the game, but with those down-graded graphics I am disappointed.

@Devs:
Since this only seems to be a controller binding issue, it should be an easy fix.
Or at least give us the legacy version in the Oculus Store.

I have this on Quest 2 and was waiting for anyone at all to mention if this version works on the Quest 2, but never happened...so I decided to see for myself. It does indeed work, but I needed to turn the refresh rate down to 72hz. I am guessing this game doesn't play nice with higher refresh rates because that was the only way I could get it to work without glitching out! I used Quest Air-link with the 200mbps dynamic setting over the 5ghz band of my asus router, using a 9900k and a 3070ti.

Cons:
1) Its just like the quest 2 version, but it does work. It suffers the same issues as the Quest 2 version....meaning the low graphics quality, and even though it has smooth movement which moves at a decent speed, the turn portion is so slow it might as well not work at all! Thus you must use snap turn or manually move yourself. It does not have teleport.

2) They allowed access to the Legacy version which judging by the comparison images I saw looks 10x better, but apparently didn't care enough to make sure everything checked out...thus the controls don't work at all...which is a massive bummer. From what people have said on here the Legacy version is missing a file related to the controls.

3) No achievements, they apparently just copy and pasted the Quest 2 page...cause it speaks of achievements, but there are none here on steam.

Conclusion:
This game could of been something great, I love these kind of haunted house games. I know a lot of people find them cheesy but there is something very thrilling about going though a haunted mansion in the dark with very little light! I just wish I could experience the Legacy version. Unfortunately it seams the devs have fallen into a dark void...

The first part was only ten minutes long. Then came the run through which was 2:30 If the main part was the actual "Affected" there was no point even trying the Darkness. Not a game at all - no puzzles just scares but seen them all before. wouldnt waste your money. Try Resident evil 3.4 and 7 , 8 remake with the VR mod.

I enjoyed this. A few good scares. Very immersive. Low detail in places, but also quite dark so it doesn't stand out.

Had trouble with the controls, though... On my HTC Vive Cosmos I needed to use my grip AND trigger to grab things. Turning speed was so slow I took it off the thumb-stick entirely and just turned my body, rather than use the snap-turn.

Finally, the flashlight only works when it's supposed to. There is no on and off and I'm not sure if rattling it helps.

Simplemente brutal. La inmersión en VR es una auténtica pasada, si te gusta el miedo este es más que un buen título, sustos no te van a faltar y tensión tampoco.
Buena ambientación, decorados y recorridos que ponen los pelos de punta, la ambientación de los escenarios muy buena dando esa sensación que buscamos en realidad virtual.
A los que nos gusta el terror no estaría de más unos cuantos títulos así.
Muy recomendado.
Jugado y probado con quest2, Pico3 y Pico4 sin problemas.

Having played both this "new" version and the legacy version, I can honestly say that I enjoyed both. Sure, the textures might look nicer on the legacy one, but don't let all the negativity around that put you off getting this newer version (you get the legacy one with this anyway).

It's pretty linear, but you can take several different routes along the way. I've always died before escaping the house, so my guess is that there's only one true way out.

There are 3 different levels. 2 of them are standard "explore and escape the scary house" situations. The other is like a gauntlet run, where you have to make it to the end of the level as quick as you can. You'll get put on a global leader board after, which is pretty cool. This was the weaker of the 3 levels, imo.

All in all, it's a pretty good package. £7.99 is the most you'd want to pay for it and I don't feel ripped off that I did. But it's deffo one to pick up if you see it on offer. Well worth a punt if you like a few jump scares.

This is a very short game, but that's a good thing. My heart couldn't take any more. If you're a jumpscare fanatic then this is the game for you. There were many times I felt my heart shoot out of my chest and land somewhere on the floor. This was my very first horror VR game and it didn't disappoint. Be ready for creepy, scary, and loud jumpscares. And, there are 3 different game modes inside. Pleasant surprise.

One of my go to introductions to VR. Basically a 15 minute haunted house, couple jump scares and some slight variations in path. Love watching the different reactions, from people that can't get through the front door to no reaction at all. Really depends on how easily the person can be scared. The added gauntlet gives some replay to it if you want to compete for time.

Do you like haunted houses? Did you ever wish you could walk through a haunted house at your own pace without worry of running into another group so you can take in all the beautiful objects and surroundings in the environment? If you answered yes, this is the perfect game for this!

There is no ability to get lost, stuck on any puzzles and no frustrations of not being able to beat a boss to progress. Just a nice stroll with some things lurking in the dark waiting for you...

There are jump scares but nothing too terrible that I had to nope out of the game. I also work at a haunted house during the season and love visiting them to where I laugh my way through and love the environment I also am a baby and someone can hide behind a door (in a non haunted house) and say boo and my heart will stop for a moment.

I am SUPER PRONE to motion sickness and did not have much of an issue with this game. I also took my sweet time and looked at everything instead of just going forward constantly.

There was a bunch of backlash over the game's graphics being butchered in order to make it work on the Quest. The developers saw the backlash and gave the option to download the much better looking "legacy" version, but they must have failed to test it because it's missing necessary files for the game to work correctly on SteamVR. The game starts, but there are no controller bindings, and there are no SteamVR-related files AT ALL in the install folder, meaning that it's impossible to load or edit a binding, even the default binding. It's impossible to move or do anything in game. The "Questified" version has all of the necessary files and works, but I only bought the game because the legacy version was brought back. It's clear that there wasn't really any effort put in to make sure it works properly.

I even tried copying over the necessary files from the "Quest" version, but because the root folder is named differently, they're not configured to work with the legacy version. There's just no way to get the legacy version to work until the devs implement it right.

Loved this game. But, it's another game ruined by Devs forcing the PC Version to be downgraded to match the Quest headsets. Looks like a totally different game and they completely ruined the visual fidelity just so Quest users wouldn't feel bad that they're getting a worse experience than PCVR Users. I paid for a product just to have the Devs take it away and force a worse product in it's place.

*edit* on the plus side, the Devs have acknowledged this and are going to release the original version again. So, I am changing this review to positive.

A fun parlor trick to show to friends who are new to VR. It's just a walking simulator wherein you walk forward through a few levels and get jump scare after jump scare after jump scare. There's no story and not much interactions to be had. The turning speed is especially slow, but you barely do any turning, so it's passable.

As long as you are ready for that experience, you should enjoy this.

If you are looking for an interactive game, pass.

Die Rezessionen die ich dabei bekomme sind überwiegend positiv, und zeigen durchaus, dass horrorspiele in VR Sinn machen. Auch die Tatsache, dass nicht unbedingt eine Story oder Mechaink dahinter sein muss. Das simple Laufen und Beobachten ist für viele das Ideale Konzept um in diese Welt einzutauchen.

3 haunted houses for the price of one. This is a fun experience and is great for showing off your VR Gear to friends and family. I would suggest caution as I have had family members' fight or flight reflexes kick in and either jump back while still tethered to the headset or swing with my Index Knuckles still attached. The only things worth noting is that you have to set the visual quality each time you load up the game and there are no "Snap" or "Teleportation" movement which can cause motion sickness otherwise. I find if you sway your body back and forth while moving forward it can help. The game has no story nor objectives and it was never meant to; just march forward and enjoy!

Сразу скажу, что это [b]не совсем игра[/b], это [b]экспириенс[/b]. То есть это просто визуальный ряд с минимумом взаимодействий, призванный просто напугать вас страшной атмосферой, картинкой и, конечно, скримерами. Из взаимодействий у вас есть лишь ходьба по нажатию на триггер, даже фонарик включается и выключается по скрипту. Можно ещё и головой крутить во все стороны, пытаясь рассмотреть каждый пиксель вокруг, но тогда есть очень большая вероятность, что вы пропустите какой-нибудь скример, а в такой бродилке это и есть самое главное.

[spoiler] [i] (Эх, если бы кто-нибудь написал такой комментарий, когда я начинал проходить это, потому что я пару раз откладывал прохождение, пытаясь понять на какую кнопку включается фонарик) [/i] [/spoiler]

Проходится этот хоррор-экспириенс минут за 20, но для одноразовой реиграбельности есть развилка в начале игры, поэтому игру можно пройти дважды и оба раза пройти по разным местам. Это отличный способ продемонстрировать VR друзьям, зашедшим в гости, потому что всё, что нужно делать в этой игре — это смотреть прямо, жать на триггер и пугаться :)
Впрочем, даже если вы как орешки щёлкаете уровни на Expert+ в Beat Saber и играете на уровне Global Elite в Pavlov, но никогда не играли в хорроры в VR и пугаетесь каждого шороха — для вас это тоже подойдёт.

Для тех, кто любит комментарии по фактам — вот плюсы и минусы:

• Максимально простое управление и отсутствие прямого взаимодействия с миром. Просто жмёшь на кнопку и пугаешься — это всё.
• Неплохая графика для VR игры 2017 года.
• Очень хорошо проработанный антураж, создающий гнетущую атмосферу.
• Простые, местами предсказуемые, но тем не менее очень неплохо пугающие скриммеры.
• Топ-1 игра, которую я включаю тем, кто первый раз в жизни видит VR, впечатления сразу потрясающие.

[b] Но есть и минусы: [/b]
• Максимально простое управление и отсутствие прямого взаимодействия с миром. Да-да, такой же пункт, но только под знаком минус. Если вы хотите головоломок, истории, или хотя бы потрогать какие-нибудь вещи вокруг, то можете смело проходить мимо.
• Хоть это и экспириенс, но он [b]слишком[/b] короткий. Даже с учётом того, что эту игру можно пройти двумя разными путями, в целом это займёт минут 40.
• В ответственные моменты камера не фиксируется в нужном положении, поэтому можно легко пропустить что-нибудь интересное или пугающее, если очень активно смотреть по сторонам и оглядываться.

В целом, это отличный аттракцион, который может напугать и подарить впечатления от VR. Очень короткий, но на то он и аттракцион. Очень рекомендую взять в коллекцию пугалок для друзей, особенно по скидке :)

I'd probably have been more impressed had it been my first VR horror experience. 'Game' might be stretching it a bit as in comparison to games like A chair in the Room or Exorcist Legion this feels more like a haunted house one would pay to go into at a fairground.

I'd say with this experience the developers made a few mistakes simply because I feel they have lain it on too thick.

They say 'terror lurks around every corner' and to be honest that's the problem. The paranormal occurrences begin right away, and never let up being overly reliant on jump scares throughout.

I personally think with experiences like this, a slow build up of fear through clever use of sound and music would have been much more effective.

In VR horror games the pay off is often never as bad, and never could be as bad (you can't really die after all) as the buildup, and developers should exploit this as much as possible. If you put too many scares in, the gamer quickly becomes desensitised too it all.

I was more spooked when some eerie old fashioned music started playing in a room full of haunting photographs, or when I heard knocks on a door somewhere than I was when I witnessed spirits knocking things over or jumping out at me. If anything its a relief when they do jump out! Oh it was just a silly looking b*** after all!

Had this eerie music or these bumps occurred suddenly in isolation after wandering around for a while reading things and taking in the atmosphere I really do believe I'd have been much more spooked, and it would have felt more natural, but to be honest a lot of VR horror games are making this mistake (scary game needs lots of scares).

A first time VR user will love this probably but personally I found it to be rather poor. The lack of interaction with objects in the world itself is also a huge limitation, and there is no story or lore whatsoever really.

you know something is scary because it is accompanied with a loud sound that hurts your ears. I was pissing my pants whenever the light would flicker and then blow my ears out with a sound that is way louder than it should be.

The best horror game I've played, it has the scariest elements of all the horror games and throws them at your one after the other.

Update: What did they do with the update, they upgraded the graphics but they killed the one after another craziness that was in the previous version. I really wish they had an option to go back to the previous update, not sure I would really recommend it as it is now.

For people like me that don't want smooth-movement locomotion, and prefer teleport, avoid this game. The only option to move is via touchpad movement, which basically made my wife instantly nauseated and I was feeling a headache after 10 minutes. Unfortunately, until teleport movement is added, I'll be forced to return this game and recommend NOT purchasing for others. A shame, as the atmosphere was really good and scary.

Muy mal, tenía unas HTC VIVE y he cambiado a unas Oculus rift s, pues resulta que ya no puedo usarlo, ahora tengo que comprar en la tienda de oculus exactamente el mismo para las oculus con lo que encima tengo los juegos en plataformas separadas, o arreglan esto y permiten que comprándolo una vez pueda jugarlo con cualquiera de las gafas, como hacen con el 99% de los juegos o seguiré pensando que es una estafa.

18 минут мне хватило дабы пройти эту помойку, причём в прямом смысле пройти зажав кнопку ходьбы, а ходьба хотите угарнуть как там осуществляется? Естесно хотите, ты тупо зажимаешь курок в правой руке и поворачиваешь е*летом туда куда нужно идти причём других поворотов в игре не предусмотрено, только е*летом, игра на столько кривая в полигонах что дабы пройти в дверной проём тебе приходится втыкаться в соседнюю стену дабы пройти через текстуры в этот самый дверной проход, а что насчёт пугалок так там их от силы пару штук. Я искренне не рекомендую эту игру к покупке, попросту зря потратите деньги!

I say no to recommend, not because it was a bad experience, but more or less a misleading experience thought to be had. No interactions, no in-game dialogue, with the exception of the little girl screaming at you during jump scares that were ok at best. The moment you step-in to the mansion you could sense what was going to happen at every turn.

I will say it was a well put together haunted house run, but nothing more than that. It was short, which was nice because I couldn't spend that much time inside of a game just walking around doing nothing.

It wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worse. If you decide to pick it up just for fun, put it on your wish-list and wait for it to be half off.

This review is more so for people who aren't so susceptible to jump scares such as myself.

If you're looking for a FUN horror game, this is definitely not the one. There is zero interaction and it is short lived.
The jump scares are not very good in my opinion, they're expected and mediocre at best.

I will say the game looks fairly good for an indie horror.

I would say this is good for people new to VR who want to try a haunted house experience. I played the original Affected for DK1 and was kind of let down by this just because that had the elevator and different places to try on each floor. I would rather wait and have an enhanced version of that.

I kept waiting for more to happen, like the eyes of someone in a painting follow you, or someone moves from painting to painting down the hall following you and then appears in reality, that would be creepy.

Maybe walking up a hallway and suddenly the hallway raises up and you end up falling backwards through a door.

A doll house with creepy figures inside and then something happens and you shrink down and end up in the doll house trying to escape.

I guess just more creativity and less "The Ring" girls screaming at you.

Atmosphere is great just needs more interactivity and I'm not a programmer and realize with a small team or single person that could take a long time...

Si esperas un juego donde tengas que interactuar vos con el ambiente, seguí de largo. Ahora si buscas dar un paseo por una casa de terror o mejor ver como tus amigos y familiares la recorren, compralo YA. Este juego pone en juego tu valentía, logrando que dudes en cada esquina si algo pasa o simplemente no pasa nada. Si bien gráficamente esta por arriba de lo aceptable llegando al bueno, lo mejor de todo es el audio, la música y los diferentes sonidos logran llegarte a lo mas profundo de tu corazón, clavando una daga de hielo que congela la sangre. Dale una oportunidad.

My GF is the type to dismiss games as immature. I bought this last year around this time and she adored it. Liked the graphics and wasn't confused by too many options or an overly complex story line. This a really good game to introduce people new to VR if they like scary things. No combat but a decent amount of jumpscares. Would like to see more games like this, longer with maybe a bit more complexity.
