Being new to the genre is probably the reason I enjoyed this one, flaws and all.

The music is good and that final credits song (the good ending) goes pretty hard, but then there's an issue with looping. The music will start to drive you insane because of how short the loops are. But I still found it intriguing, because here was this sense of fantasy and adventure. It never sounded dark, which felt thematic. Character models look goofy and environments are a bit meh, but the music somehow made it feel like this whimsical adventure.

Then there's the gameplay; I thought the mechanics were interesting enough, and the various weapon types all feel different. But once you experience it, there isn't a whole lot that stands out. All the weapons feel the same, just in 3 categories: sword, lance, and broadsword. There was some variation like some had fire enhancements or poison, but you'd tend to find something stronger so there never was much time to experiment. The magic was interesting but just like the weapons, it felt held back.

Lastly the difficulty. I don't think I'm very good at these games. After ~82 hours, I got all achievements including the no hit bosses. The game felt fair, but I think I cheesed it a bit because I would find myself grinding to fill out my item list. With that being said, the DLC difficulty SUCKED. It skyrocketed for no apparent reason. Boss mechanics felt cheap and I really didn't want to continue. Of course you feel the sense of accomplishment when you finally beat them, but it felt more aggravating than anything.

If I disliked this I wouldn't have put as much time as I did. Looks like Neo Popcorn is now Orange Popcorn. I like the original name better. Apparently HunterX does everything better. Let's see how that goes.

O jogo é excepcional. Visualmente deslumbrante, divertido e com uma gameplay extremamente fluida. O level design é de alto nível — com exceção de uma ou outra batalha contra chefes, que poderia ser mais inspirada. A curva de aprendizado e progressão é excelente: equilibrada, justa e sem a necessidade de grindar por horas para vencer um boss ou avançar em determinada área (pelo menos no jogo base).

O grande destaque, sem dúvida, vai para o mapa. Ele é simplesmente incrível — uma verdadeira aula de design, claramente inspirado em Symphony of the Night, mas com identidade própria.

O ponto mais fraco fica por conta da narrativa. Ela cumpre o papel de contextualizar a jornada, mas é rasa e pouco envolvente. Não chega a atrapalhar a experiência, mas definitivamente não é o foco aqui.

Sobre a DLC, o conteúdo adicional é até interessante, mas a curva de progressão se torna absurda. A diversão dá lugar à frustração: os chefes são ridiculamente difíceis e o equilíbrio desaparece. A sensação é de estar jogando outro game — e não no bom sentido.

没带透视镜打完坏结局就不能进dlc就已经值得一个差评了。打完二周目坏结局本来想进dlc做一下收集，结果只能进新周目了。

地图设计也是逆天，先不说大量的死胡同，绕路。我感觉好些封死的地方完全可以打开通路让跑图更顺畅，遗迹运河到地下城那个紫色门的地方是封死的，就因为这个封路，就不得不从两边更远的地方绕路走。可以传送，但是通过传送门也很远。个别地方我觉得作者一开始是打算可以通过的，因为地图上显示可以通过，但是实际上是封了道墙。

月下夜想曲之后就玩不下这种横板，这游戏做的是真的好，期待下第二部。

I really enjoyed this game! It's a lot of fun and highly addictive. It's one of those cases where as soon as you finish your first playthrough, you begin the next without hesitation. I'm not a huge fan of the graphical style, but it is far from bad. First impressions are lacklustre, though you are hooked soon enough. If they added more DLC and items I'd still be playing it tbh. The price is just about right.

I am still in the process of doing my run of this game and its a good mix of fantasy and dark themes.
Mixing hand to hand and weapon styles is a good mix and using a souls like battle system makes you always stay on your toes as you dodge and avoid attacks.

Ive refrained from reviewing this game for years... but i think its finally time... since ive yet to go past the settings screen due to:

Has a Known resolution bug (which has been around since the game LAUNCHED) that locks you into whatever IT thinks your resolution is (varies per person) and there is absolutely no way to change it manually
for me its 4096 x 2160. which is higher than my screen has processing power for

100% of my "gameplay" time has been me, trying to find a workaround for this bug for the last several years

This metroidvania makes a decent first impression, and in hindsight, I liked most of the background scenery and the bad ending of the story. However, the game is significantly held back by its generic aesthetics, clunky combat and a very unfair final boss that leaves you bitter after finishing your playthrough. There are no spectacle fights in this game, cutscenes are not skippable and accessories are way too limited.

100% achievement completion requires hugging every corner of the screen to get a full map completion, farming low item drop chances for a full item collection, and resetting on 26 boss fights until you beat them without taking damage over the course of 4 playthroughs. Overall it feels very meh, but has its moments.

Incredible artificial difficulty, enemies are pretty basic but just hit hard, not a fan of how the skill tree works, weapon upgrades are hugely limited so worthless upgrading anything but end game gear and I really can't be bothered to finish it. When a game starts to feel like a slog, the fun stops

何度もプレイしてボスの動きを覚えるメトロイドヴァニア。

これがソウルライク…

実績残ってるし久々にプレイしてレビュー書くかなと思ったんですが、いやーしぬしぬ雑魚でも道中のトラップでもダメージがデカイ、もう覚えてないよ…。
4週目でラスボス倒した後のデータでレベルはカンストしてるんですけどね。

ちなみにプレイ時間と倒された数はこのくらい、2周目までは隅々探索しているのでクリアするだけならこんなにかからないと思います（実績狙うなら2周目以降にだけ出るアイテムなどがあるので2周まではじっくり）。
初回プレイ時のデータはDLCなし本編クリアまで27時間で144回倒されていました、2周目DLC込み真ルートは24時間で117回倒れる。
4週目はDLC込み8時間で22回でした、3周目までに収集系実績を済ませたので取りこぼしきにしなければ割と早いですね。

全実績解除となるとマジで時間かかります、最低4週かかるんですけど4週で終わるひとはガチでゲーム旨い人だと思う。
ノーダメでボスを倒す系が凶悪、序盤のボスに勝てなくてゲームクリアしてるプレイヤーがいるくらいなのにノーダメて…しかも26種てDLC含めたすべてですやん。（DLCは無料）
この条件で絶の望なんですが、これ救済というか1週目と2周目で同じボスでも別種扱いになることに気づきまして、自分でも4,5体くらいはノーダメでいけるので7週目くらいには何とかなりそうです。

これだけプレイしているので一応おすすめにしますがまじでマゾい、セールで500円切るのでその時にでもマゾい方は挑戦してみてください。

Where do I start? The skill tree is poorly organized and thought out. If "stamina regen on dashing through an enemy" feels weirdly specific, just know that I had already pumped a lot of levels into my character before that upgrade became an option and, due to the game's contact damage, weird hitboxes and stingy stamina, it would have been nice to have from the beginning. The same could be said for many other upgrades. And speaking of upgrades, your weapon upgrades and consumables for purchase require the same "points" as your skill tree, so good luck determining what to prioritize. There's no parry or block (unless, again, those abilities are hidden somewhere past level 80 where I stopped) in a game that feels like it desperately needs them; you move slowly with an ineffectual dash and the enemies and bosses have insane tracking abilities. I could go on and on. But probably the worst offense, as it gets more and more pronounced over time, is the runbacks. After having relatively mild runbacks throughout (at least by Soulslike standards), this game decides to jack them up 100% for no reason in the late game/DLC. It's like Dark Souls 2 meets the Ori escape sequences. Holy crap.

And it's a shame because I did enjoy parts of this game... enough to beat it anyway. With a bit more QoL, I might have even regarded it more highly. But definitely not in its present state.

I am barely into the game, and I barely care about it. There is no lore or backstory to kick your character off. They have a meaningless intro with some flash points and images that are intended to feel significant, but without any context makes it pointless. Controls are fine. The overall visuals are okay, but boring. If we were presented with some pixel art style to it all, it would help give it all some character. Music is fine. Sound effects are okay. However, not sure if it is my settings or the game, but it all sounds a bit loud. Not a good loud either. I wouldn't label this as a "souls-like", but it definitely has roots in metroidvania mechanics.

IF you are looking for a decent indie metroidvania, and could care less about story, plot, or lore. Then you are going to do well at the price it is at. If you want the story, plot, and lore...look else where.

最喜欢的游戏之一，优点是极度流畅的手感和高难度的内容，以及没有太多故事来浪费时间，如果有喜欢这款的我推荐玩一下hunterX，也是差不多的游戏，如果你是对游戏手感要求很高，很喜欢格斗类游戏（感觉和小时候玩的死神vs火影差不多）的人很推荐这个游戏，他玩起来真的很爽。但是新手不推荐，整体游戏内容比较难，画质低劣，故事行差都会是劝退你的理由之一。

Este es un buen metroidvania en general y a todos los niveles, sin ser excelso en ningún apartado en concreto pero sí un título muy sólido de acción aventura y exploración.

La musica y la ambientación es de lo que más me ha acabado gustando, pues tiene ese rollo como medieval y fantástico que tanto me gusta.

El combate si que es bastante simplón, no tiene muchos movimientos donde elegir y parte de la estrategia consiste en conseguir un buen arma o pacto (habilidad especial), y en la distribución del árbol de estadísticas y mejoras.

Como todo buen metroidvania que se precie, conforme avanzamos desbloqueamos puertas que antes estaban cerradas y habilidades que nos ayudan no sólo a la exploración sino también al combate, y que nos hacen ser más ágiles como el doble salto o el desplazamiento (aquí llamado lanzamiento). Sin duda el doble salto es esencial, pero la habilidad que más me ha gustado y en parte me ha volado la cabeza es la última que conseguí, ya que cuando ya tenía casi todo el mapa explorado y sólo me faltaban aquellos rincones que eran más inaccesibles porque estaban en una cornisa algo más elevada o en una plataforma más alejada, me pensaba que la última habilidad que desbloquearía sería un triple salto, o el típico de colgarse de las paredes y poder saltar en ellas, pero para mí sorpresa la última habilidad era poder realizar el desplazamiento en cualquiera de las 8 direcciones principales, con lo que la exploración del mapa termina de abrirse por completo y los combates cogen otra dinámica, eso sí hay que mejorar la agilidad del personaje para poder realizar hasta 3 o 4 desplazamientos seguidos, lo que es bastante divertido y satisfactorio por las posibilidades que te brinda.

La dificultad para mi gusto está genial, se podría decir que es un metroidvania más fácil que la media pero es que así como esta lo he disfrutado mucho, ningún jefe me ha llevado una cantidad de intentos excesiva que me haga querer abandonar el juego, y la exploración también es bastante amable, con las interconexiones entre caminos que se van desbloqueando (eso sí, hay alguna parte más pasillera que no se libra de ser un coñazo cuando toca atravesarla varias veces).

Liebhaber von 2D Souls-Likes und Metroidvanias, werden mit 3000th Duel auf ihre Kosten kommen.
Auch für Einsteiger in diese Genres ist dieser Titel eine absolute Empfehlung!

Pros:
- Die Steuerung ist "smooth as f***"
- Die Lernkurve ist flach und steigert sich dann enorm
- Dafür das das Spiel schon ein paar Jahre am Buckel hat ist die Grafik sehr gut
- Gegnervariation und Plattforming Passagen machen das Spiel abwechslungsreich

Cons:
- Schwierige Passagen sind wirklich schwierig
- Manche Bosse erfordern es zuvor ein bisschen zu grinden um gut mit ihnen klar zu kommen (Ab den Verliesbossen geht es steil bergauf)
- Die Abilities die man im Verlauf des Spiels erhält sind nichts neues und nicht bahnbrechend, aber passen sehr gut in das Spielgefühl

[h1]3000th Duel[/h1]Mostra que é possível desenvolver um bom jogo fazendo o básico bem feito. Aqui encontramos um metroidvania que, embora não traga grandes inovações, apresenta uma personalidade própria. Seu ritmo é lento e confuso no início, e leva um tempo até começarmos a entender o que está acontecendo. Claramente beberam da fonte dos jogos da FromSoftware, o que, para mim, é um ponto positivo.

O jogo apresenta um estilo gráfico em 2.5D, combinando sprites bidimensionais com ambientes tridimensionais de forma muito bem feita e uma direção de arte bem assertiva, juntamente com uma excelente trilha sonora. Porém, acredito que seria mais imersivo se a paleta de cores utilizada fosse mais escura e sólida, pois achei excessivamente colorido e brilhante para um jogo que se apresenta como uma fantasia sombria.

No entanto, o que me fez recomendar 3000th Duel está relacionado ao combate que, embora simples, achei muito divertido e satisfatório. O nível de dificuldade é bem equilibrado e a progressão de personagem é relativamente rápida. Por isso, acredito que o jogo ofereça uma experiência divertida e acessível, sem deixar de ser desafiador nos momentos certos.

3000th Duel - While I do love side-scroller souls like games, I feel this one is decent enough to sink time in, but the animations and movement just felt a bit off to me.

The skills and diverse weapons and combos make for an interesting experience that I haven't seen anywhere else yet (haven't played that many side-scrollers), but it felt unique and I quite enjoyed that.

The world map and exploration is massive and the enemy variety is immense - Exactly what you'd expect from this type of game.

If you have an itch that you'd like to scratch and you've already played a bunch of other games, this might be the odd one out that just scratches in the right place.

OK Metroidvania souls-like game. Some boss are kinda frustrating to fight specially the DLC ones.
Hate the debuff where you cannot outright attack and another debuff that depletes your stamina.
The down kick of sword weapon can help cheese some bosses but not all of them.
Remember to use your magic and Mortal Blow in boss fights they are a big help.
Max leveling is so grindy in this game but can help you immensely that's what I did.
Most skills have little effect if not useless. Only handful can really help you in a fight.

I try to make my reviews have two moments, the initial thoughts (which can be writen at any point in the game) and the post completion edit.

Im 30 minutes in and I already dont like a lot of things about this game
1- the music is trash, repetitive, annoying and not complementary of the ambiance (you are a sort of dark resurrected knight in a world filled with undead and the music is this short loop of whimsical notes)
2- the camera choices.... imagine playing an old school metroidvania... got it? now imagine the camera is in constant close up. Unless you are in a full screen open area as in 3 sprites worth of space from top to bottom (not floor to sealing, floor to end of view), like if there is double jump mechanic in this game, you can expect the camera to be bouncing with you untill you puke.
3-it tries its hand at an innovative skill map system... and completely fails to make it at all interesting
4-keyboard controls are not bad, just annoying
5-nothing you do feels like it has any effect, you know like you dont feel the hits

As for the story telling/narrative, so far, the game gave me nothing, i dont know who i am, where im at, whats my purpose, as if it were inspired by FromSoftware games, but not really being able to pull it off.

The very definition of something that is less than the sum of its parts.

I couldn't point you to any specific part being bad, individually everything is decent to good, however the whole is just meh and not very enticing to play, you never truly feel invested in the story and though not bad a lot of the levels look samey and are annoying to get through.

One of the issue I can really point to is how your character looks less agile than he actually is as the animation look sort of more sluggish than the hyper responsive movement actually is, usually it's the opposite issue.

Another issue is the high variability in boss difficulty, some are real PITA and will block your progress until you git gud, others are one and done pushovers.

Another big point against it is that the true ending and a third of the content is hidden behind a full repeat playthrough, even worse if you're hunting for cheevos as you get to do 4 playthroughs that get progressively harder each time.

Honestly I'd recommend skipping it altogether and playing Hunter X which is pretty much the same game from the same people but way more refined .

Ok lets make this easy: it is a good metroidvania, and it shares a lot of similarities to they other two: HunterX and HunterX T.

So I am going to be honest: on sale it is not a bad buy. But if you have to choose, this should be last on the list of three. Get HunterX first. Then HunterX T. Finally this one.

They play the same, but this one feels a little be more sluggish playing. HunterX is a much smoother feeling to the action.

The benefit of this one is the weapon swapping that the two HunterX games don't have. But when attacks come out even so slow feeling, I would say don't rush this.

I will recommend it because it is still a good game, but it is the lowest behind the other two.

這是一個玩起來比預告還更好玩的遊戲，而且不會有以往惡魔成遊戲那樣惱人的錯過支線，甚至寶箱都會只要是到過路就會自己出現在地圖上，這個設計真的是好到讓人舒心，再也不用自己做筆記，跑圖來回跑了，唯一比較麻煩的就是吳晟物品圖鑑吧，為了收集全武器，至少要跑四周目才行，不過因為等級上限是199，就當練級了，出乎意料不會感到煩躁，畢竟都有在成長變強
此外，遊戲還要無傷BOSS，這邊的無傷定義我很到全成就還是搞不懂，我第一周目只有一隻無傷，第二周目我很努力打無傷，我自己算有19隻，大部分都是DLC沒辦法無傷，但最後只算我14隻，第三周目更扯，我明明無傷一模一樣的BOSS，但只剩下5隻，第四周目也是只有5隻，完全不能理解怎麼算的，可能無傷定義跟我想的不一樣吧

I'm done with the game. And sadly I didn't like it, mostly because of the achievements as a Achievement OCD player.
I think the game itself is okayish for a metroidvania. It starts good, but there are so many things I didn't like, so I can't recommened this game.

If you just want to complete the game like once, I think the game is good, but some bosses are frustrating. Furthermore you will have to explore even the slightest corner of the map, otherwise you might miss a key item, so you'll wander around aimlessly. This might get frustrating, so be prepared.

The most annoying achievement is the one, where you have to get all the items in the game, which require nearly 4! playthroughs with absolutly nothing new in the game, except for some items, which don't change anything. This is absolutely tedious.
The other one (or all in that progession line) are the ones, where you have to kill 26 bosses without getting hit. Yes, you can "farm" these through different playthroughs, but this is just NOT FUN!
So if you have Achievement OCD: Don't buy this game! You might get mad. I would have liked the game more without these achievements.

As predicted: The game is too zoomed in and basic. A problem it shares with games like Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth, Dust: An Elysian Tale and even Shadow Complex to a degree. While the HunterX games are quite basic as well, it is far worse here and I largely attribute it to the camera zoom.

I was also missing the parry option from the HunterX games.

The story/art direction is perhaps even worse than the HunterX games as well (something that wasn't great there either).

I don't doubt that there will be challenging boss encounters had I played it longer, but in a game this zoomed in and claustrophobic I feel little desire to further explore its world.

3000th Duel is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere (although this is at least 3D rendered, once more disrespecting amateur developers who insist that 2D graphics are the same as 3D). It's a handheld (Nintendo Switch)/console game that's also been put on Steam as a bit of an afterthought, as it's very much designed for the handheld/console gaming audience. Being a somewhat "soulslike" hack and slash/dodging simulator/metroidvania, which seems very ambitious, it's unfortunate that the ambition isn't matched by a quality technical delivery.

On the upside, the game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. Unfortunately there's a number of other technical defects and shortcomings which contribute to the game being difficult to recommend to gamers.

This game has been translated from some other language into English... badly. If this was done through Google Translate, Google Translate should feel ashamed of itself. Regardless, the language in this game is broken and will put off a lot of gamers.

The game is notably designed to be specifically very difficult, in a "Soulslike" vein. This is a generally poor and unpleasant design choice, and while at face value it should make the game seem "Challenging", more often than not this is done deliberately by developers to make it harder for gamers to access the full content of the game, reducing the amount of overall effort the developer needs to add before they can push the game to Steam. Whether that's the case here, I'll leave to the gamers to decide, but for sure, it makes the game frustrating and un-fun to play, a surefire deterrent.

While not necessarily a deal breaker, the game does lack polish and a few elements are a little clunky/unsmooth, this is still rough around the edges, especially the control handling, which can be a bit floaty. There's also some reports of bugs which may result in a negative user experience. Your mileage may vary on this.

PC gamers will be insulted by the demand from the developer that a console peasant children's toy controller should be used, despite this being on PC. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're developing for, and must never, under any circumstances dictate to gamers how their games are to be experienced. To make matters worse, there's no mouse input, despite this being sold on PC as if it were a PC game. This is unacceptable and somewhat insulting to PC gamers. It's a good demonstration of the poor attitude the developer has towards PC gamers, and this attitude has resulted in yet another defect in this game.

Because this is designed for handheld/portable gaming appliances, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the low power handheld gaming appliances that the game was designed for. These are unfortunate compromises and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was a second thought for the mobile game developers. The game is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for low power handhelds forces upon a game. While this might run well on a Steam Deck, we must remember the vast majority of gamers here are gaming on PC.

These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.

The game never really caught on with the millions of gamers on Steam, with a very low peak player count close to launch, and then just a handful of players launching this game every couple of days. This is undoubtedly caused by factors such as those raised in this review. It's always helpful with buying decisions to consider how popular and successful the product is, and unfortunately while this did accumulate a few participation trophy reviews, overall, people just aren't using it.

So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam?

3000th Duel has the greedy, cash grab price of $15 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.

For comparison, the $15 asking price for this game could get you games like "Wolfenstein - The New Order", "Dead by Daylight" or "Ghostrunner". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.

I tried to put myself a bit longer through this game, but I'm at a point in life where my free time is constantly shrinking and responsibilities keep getting bigger. If I want to invest myself into a metroidvania game, I'd rather play or replay something else. Everything about the game feels clunky and uninteresting, and for some reason the focus on your character during gameplay is so weird that you basically miss whatever is happening in surrounding area and you'll constantly bump into enemies as you have no clue whats in front of you.

Das Hauptspiel selbst ist sehr fair gestaltet und zwar schwer, aber ich habe nie das Gefühl gehabt, es sei unfair oder übertrieben hart.
Ich habe es mir sogar als Ziel gesetzt die Bosse ohne Treffer zu besiegen und ich kann stolz sagen, dass ich es auch geschafft habe.

Tja und dann haben wir das DLC und ganz ehrlich, meine Nerven wollen einfach nicht mehr.
Ich habe nun nach etwa 3/4 der Bosse das Handtuch geworfen, weil ich keine Lust mehr hatte.
Würde ich es schaffen wenn ich mit weiter darin verbeiße? Vermutlich ja, aber danach wäre ich ein Wrack.

A) Laufwege zwischen 2 Speicherpunkte sind oft sehr weit auseinander und mit zig Gegnern und Stellen gepflastert, die einen umhauen können.
B) Was einen durch einfache Hiebe abgezogen wird, ist auch nicht schön, vor allem ist die Eigenheilung mit den violetten Fetzen ziemlich schwach.
C) Die Bosse sind einfach nur furchtbar gestaltet.
Was dabei besonders negativ heraus sticht, ist ihre 2. Phase die sie alle haben. Während die 1. Phase in etwa den Härtegrad der Bosse des Hauptspiels entspricht, werden sie ab Phase 2 alle unglaublich unfair und das wegen Fähigkeiten, die ich als billig bezeichnen würde, zb einen Kumpel zu rufen. Gäbe es also diese 2. Phase nicht, würde das Ganze völlig anders aussehen.

Dark souls 1-3, Bloodborne, etc... all diese Spiele habe ich gepackt und das Solo und ohne die ganzen buffs, Tricks, uws..., aber hier möchte ich einfach nur schreien. Das letzte gute Gefühl bei diesen DLC war, als ich das ganze deinstalliert habe.
Sry, diese Rezension ist sehr grob beschrieben, aber ich möchte nicht noch mehr Gedanken an das Game verschwenden.

Ух ну в целом это не плохой инди концепт, о чем я? Многие элементы игры рабочие контент есть но целостности и глубины не хватает. Стилизация странная(скелеты разные и я имею виду размеры и дизайн и так многое в игре не сочетается визуально), второе прокачка странная явно статы работают криво и лучше всего было бы убрать вовсе или сократить такая же ситуация с оружием, кольцами. Спаум врагов странный почему враги(не все но многие) ресаютя после перизахода в локации, почему этот момент не как в дарк соле?
В целом если бы контента было меньше но более проработан игра бы только выйграла но увы не кому не советую ибо 14-20 часов геймплея в этой игры не окупится по эмоциям.

Game number 2 in my quest to play through my huge backlog of games. This game is surprisingly good. I haven't completed it yet but I'm well on my way and enjoy it enough to do it before I start game 3. The combat is good. The boss fights are interesting. The only negative I can think of is the character models. They look like the premade kind you can purchase from inside whatever game engine you are using. I recommend this game but probably not at 15 dollars. Get it on sale or in a bundle like I did and it's worth it.

Die ersten 12 Stunden dieses Spiels haben mich sehr unterhalten, danach entwickelte sich dieses Spiel immer weiter in eine Richtung "Souls like" game, was für mich nicht mehr ansprechend war, ich habe das Hauptspiel trotz dessem durchgespielt, das DLC kann ich unter keinen Umständen empfehlen, obwohl es kostenlos ist, wenn nicht aktiv ein "Souls" Titel gesucht wird.

战斗特别是冲刺的时候很爽，但难也是真难，DLC的水域逆天地形，追逐战两个我最讨厌的小怪配合无间，让人感受到了开发者深深的恶意。后期的boss尤其是DLC里的boss也是一个比一个难，倒是最终boss我觉得还好。这个游戏里缺乏大幅提升防御力的手段，虽然随着游戏进行攻击力越来越强，但特别脆，要是不加血被boss打两下就得死，所以我基本体力、力量和法力平均加点，到后面法器和致命打击杀伤力巨大，还有冲锋打击使用过程无敌，都比普攻好用多了。游戏里有三种类型的武器，每一种都有对应的最终武器，不过一周目只能选一把，游戏过程中我是哪把武器好用就用哪个，但最后个人觉得还是剑最好用。
地图很大，虽然都是那一套城墙，但是背景多样，DLC一开始雪域的背景和音乐都很棒。剧情也还不错，印象深比较刻的是拿到未来符文打得boss居然就是买货的那个商人，不知道恶臭兄弟们转世后咋样了。
游戏里很多细节都让人想起恶魔城，例如戴上眼镜打boss、塔楼上的大白狗、假存档点等等，二周目居然还可以变身成狼，真是倍感亲切啊。

Generally not too bad, but there's also nothing outstanding about it. It's competently made, but the story and worldbuilding are very hard to care about and the combat is a bit dull. Enemy move sets are very limited, but compensate by doing a lot of damage. Difficulty starts ramping up brutally in the second half of the game and you might have to grind some upgrades to help you with boss fights. Unfortunately, upgrade materials appear to be limited to chests, so if you messed up upgrading the wrong weapon, you might be screwed for a while.

My main issue is that I am currently stuck in the DLC and I've spent three hours trying to work out where to even go next. Google can't even help. For all I know, there's a progression bug.

this is a metroidvania game with very sluggish movements. weirdly, there are lots of effects from the enemies to your attacks but still it doesn't feel like you are hitting someone. this was a first for me I don't even know what to say about that. stats really increase when you level up. this is a big change from other souls-like games but I wouldn't say it mattered a lot as the game leaves you in a place where you can't go anywhere till you memorize the map. so you kill the same mobs hunderds of times to get from somewhere to somewhere.

map is really really bad. in many a place the map is full of things to elevate you or make you go down which is there just to justify the real positions of the map. but this fires back on itself as the dev really didn't want to use elevators. this not only makes travelling tidious but it also makes it so that memorizing the map is so much harder. i still remember most places in salt and sanctuary and for that matter even the souls-like games that I didn't like. but not this one. also I played this game without a break so I should have remembered this game even more. there are also portals in the game to make travelling less tidious but they are not marked on the map.

the graphics are relative but I didn't like them. music is not like souls-like. you get music everywhere and there was only one music outside bosses till where I played the game. the music is not quite and soothing like firlink or grandious like boss fight music in dark souls. the game didn't know what it was going for.

the skill tree like system is garbage as it limits you to get things you will never use to reach to the ones you will use. not only that it makes it so that you want to invest even more since you are closer to an upgrade that is not gameplay specific. but you shouldn't because it won't help towards reaching the next section...

I don't know the theories storylines or what not but as a literature bachelor I can safely say the implementation of the story is hot garbage. it also didn't give much to go on. It really feels like a game made for only money with no passion.

PROS
Graphics are crisp and occasionally look wonderful. Light beams flowing through ruins of gigantic statues is quite evocative. Music sounds good in the beginning but you get your fill of it quite fast. Programmers did good work as game didn't crash a single time.

CONS
The art style of bosses makes you feel like being size of mouse. Rank and file monsters feel like pokemon rejects. I also wonder if creators ran out of time / money as some of the monsters are floating inanimated objects.

Too much backtracking after chests you've had to leave behind, makes you wish that enemies would become eventually just easily swipable but they just remain danger until the end.

I admit first not being good with these games, so this took quite a lot of trying and dying, but even considering that this game feels deliberately stretched, especially Wise Ones. And difficult. Frustration levels are high. Then you notice to get the whole plot you have to play it through twice... And achievements require couple playthroughs more? Nope... Not going to happen.

But still, this entertained me in short bursts for quite a long time.

Avoid or Super Sale.

There are no easy enemies. Rather, there are no enemies I can kill quickly. Exploring is such a slog. Then once I know the path, I just dash through enemies on return visits instead of engaging for item/xp drops. Which happens frequently because, as a low health build, I'm always 2 hits from death. I suppose that's my fault for trying to build a mage. Also, mage seems non-viable. At very least is certainly not the way you're going to want to play it. There's a lot of spells to cast. You can cast them a few times. Refreshing your mp requires rare-ish expensive items or resting at a shrine. Shrines respawn all large enemies. All regular enemies respawn once you enter any door. There are a lot of weapons but they only follow 3 movesets. Just use whatever hits hardest. Elemental damage is negligible and isn't affected by any stat so ignore it.

I hate the art style. Not for me. The camera is too zoomed in. It pulls back for certain encounters (e.g. bosses) but, can I just have it back there all the time please? There's no armor to change so it's not like I need to see fashion details. The DLC is free but I couldn't be bothered to finish it. Fish boss is just too healthy and underwater mechanics are always just the worst.

Dodge seems off. I can't quite figure out if the iframes are at the start or the end. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't work. Good thing you can do it twice and then have to do absolutely nothing else so that it can recharge because dodge attack dodge attack guarantees you'll take damage. Which again, 2 hits to player death for most enemies. Nitpicky here but the dodge also does damage and cancels "weak" enemy actions. So the suicide bomber ghosts blow up gets interrupted when you try to dodge and then they continue to chase to try again. You will need to kill them or suffer the damage. Absolutely ♥♥♥♥ design. You'll see.

Is there a story here? It's not like there is hidden lore to find in the items or behind broken walls. It's all intermittent dialog and I could tell you absolutely nothing about anything as far as the world or plot (there are animal people. Called hybrids. They seem there strictly for cuteness).

Can't recommend it. The gameplay feels kinda off the whole time, and the game is very poorly balanced. My breaking point was the boss of the dungeon, which started out poorly, having attacks that hit you even when you dash, and do over half your HP in damage, and got worse in the second phase, where he had no new attacks, but the main opening he had was cut to only allow time for a single hit, plus increasing the amount of projectiles dropping from the ceiling that can't be seen in time to dodge when you go in for that attack opportunity. Reading the other reviews, seems like it only gets worse from there, so I'm not going to waste my time, and you shouldn't either.

Honestly kinda bad, the controls were clunky and the hitboxes never seemed to be right. Bosses killing you in 2 shots no matter how much health you have plus consumables not returning if you fall leads to you being worse off if a boss kills you multiple times.

Not really bad but way too many flaws to be enjoyable without cheating.

For me, the main flaw is that the game is (or at leat feels) unbalanced.

For instance, during the first few hours, I died only from falling on spikes, which happened a lot because when you fall during a moving platform part, you almost never can get back to a safe place in time.

After those first few hours, though, the game became more and more difficult but some parts were much easier than earlier parts and some enemies were harder but gave less Exp!

Also, you can't increase you Defense trhough levelling or armors.

About the metroidvania tag, you do get traversal upgrades and you do need to bactrack but you only get three in the whole game.

Speaking of which, many enemies and bosses can disable your most useful abilities, including the dash/dodge move! Imagine playing Dark Souls without the ability to dodge!

I could go on and on for hours but there are two more things that need to be mentioned.

1. You need a walkthrough to get the true ending.

2. Near the end of the game, you have to choose between 4 possible weapons, so you need at least 4 full playthroughs to complete the items list.

good experience for the most part. the combat i have one issue with. my character cant move for a little bit after attacking which compounds the difficulty level toward the end of the game. bosses and enemies often get cheap hits on you for that reason. first dlc boss completely unbalanced for first playthrough at least.

Nur für absolute Hardcoregamer zu empfehlen, die entweder irrsinnig gut in dieser Art Spiel sind oder absolut schmerzfrei sind durch nervige Passagen immer und immer wieder anzurennen.
Der Schwierigkeitsgrad fühlt sich am Ende einfach nur noch unfair an.
Nachdem ich nach drölfzig Versuchen einen superätzenden Boss ([spoiler]Karma Hunter[/spoiler]) geschafft habe, geht es direkt mit der nächsten nervigen Passage weiter und meine Geduld mit dem Spiel ist leider einfach aufgebraucht.

Was ich alles bescheuert finde:
- Schwierigkeitsgrad zu hoch am Ende
- Selbst nach >10 Stunden kann ich nahezu nichts heilen mit den Schriftrollen
- Immer wieder durch die selben nervigen Passagen
- Zu weite Wege trotz Schnellreisesystem

Огромная карта, десятки различных биомов, куча оружия и заклинаний, секреты...
А ну и конечно же боссы. Их тут много, от самых простых, до тех от которых вы будете дико бомбить и гасить в себе желание сломать клавиатуру.

Если вы любите игры подобного жанра, то данный продукт я настоятельно рекомендую брать.

I'm a sucker for a good Metroidvania - or, in the case of 3000th Duel, even just a solidly average Metroidvania. Finishing off 3000th Duel encapsulated a game experience that reminded me what is good about the genre, and what's not so good about it.

It's become clear how the Soulsborne experience really has made its way into these types of games; 3000th Duel is hard, giving one a limited amount of healing items that can recharge, and having them lose their currency upon death, which can be retrieved upon attacking one's former soul. Level ups are fairly frequent, coming with a skill tree and stat boost of choice; this is one game where the stat boosts felt immediately noticeable, increasing the frequency of dashes to make traversal and combat easier, or upping one's health in a game where death is frequent.

The most common area of death are the bosses; I would not go so far as to call most of the bosses hard, but they do follow an annoying trend where they all have two phases, with the first phase being quite easy and the second introducing at least one attack that feels superfluous and usually kills you. It makes for an uneven experience, though most of the bosses are not too aggravating in this twenty hour experience. There are enough diverse builds to make switching from short to long range easier, though any build that doesn't keep one moving feels like a death sentence.

Sections themselves are short, with some diversity of biomes, but the game itself is ultimately not super aesthetic all around, meaning you never really stop to take in the art style. The game is originally decently linear, but some different routes to take to the end open up as the game goes on, meaning a difficult boss can be sidestepped as you go to another difficult boss and die there - progress. I would call this more in the Elderand level quality than Hollow Knight level quality when it comes to overall gameplay and experience had. There's virtually no narrative beyond some cryptic level ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥; the end invokes a New Game+, but it doesn't feel satisfying enough to really replay immediately. Also, the name is dumb.'

3000th Duel was a solid experience, especially on Steam Deck, where I do most of my gaming nowadays, It has some solid combat, annoying bosses, quick sections, and overall satisfying traversal. I wouldn't call it a hallmark for the genre, but I got it for a few dollars in a random Fanatical add-on for a bundle, and it was worth every penny - maybe just not 3000 playthroughs.

3000th Duel is interesting as it basically is Dark Souls, but 2D.

Usually, I am not very good at these games but the charm of a 2D Souls-like Platformer is something I cannot shake.

I will probably finish this at some point in the future but for now, it seems like a great product.

I would buy this on sale.

First played this game on the Nintendo Switch and really enjoyed it. Basically a great time killer. Not supper hard and has some RPG or level progression elements to it. Controls are pretty responsive.

It is pretty good user-friendly soulsvania (souls because of bonfires where death doesn't mean lost progress like in classic metroidvanias + souls that you lose on death + replenishable healing item + leveling with said souls + shortcuts)
- Stamina is only used for dash, regular attacks don't consume it
- Map marks unopened chests and locked doors so good memory is not required (you can also mark any point yourself)
- Iframes during dodge
- Variety in builds, 3 weapon types and magic (no bows though)
- Visually a nice classic -vania map with blue squares
- 2.5d doesn't always work in the genre, but here it looks pretty nice

So far it's been pretty easy game, not necessary a negative though. Maybe camera a bit too zoomed in and fast travel points are pretty rare

Edit: Final 10% of the game is absolute trash, boss rush with repeated bosses and final boss is absolute garbage.

I can't in good conscience recommend this game, it just feels to much like a cheap mobile game to be worthwhile. Everything from the janky controls to the eye sore of its 3D models just plays and looks horrible. While there is some good to be found here, it's overshadowed by the feeling of 'i could be playing a more well made game right about now'. I'm gonna go into the specifics for each aspect like combat, level design, etc... But i'll give a TLDR here; if you really want a soulslike sidescroller, played every other alternative AND this is on a steep sale (which it often is) then MAYBE consider buying this, otherwise (re)play death's gambit, grime, moonscars, blasphemous or anything similar because you'll have a better time with those.

So let's start with the elephant in the room, the visuals. This game really does look like one of those dumb mobile games you'd get in an add on youtube. The derpy looking trolls and skeletons with massive heads, the carnivorous plants with big cartooney mouths, it all feels like something out of plants vs zombies. Even the main character isn't spared of this treatment with an atrocious model consisting of generic black armor, white hair & a red hood (which when combined look like christmas headwear) and a MASSIVE forehead that could probably fit all of hallownest on it. There's some modelerately cool designs but all models are cheap low poly 3D models that really do not blend with the 2D backgrounds. These backgrounds can look decent at times but there's so much copy and pasting of assets to the point where every area feels the same. It's either a generic forest, a generic castle or a generic cavern. I did not play the (free) DLC but at least that seemed to improve upon this flaw of repetition a lot.

Speaking of copy pasting, the game uses 3 different soundtracks for EVERY bossfight, and like 4 or 5 soundtracks for ALL of the zones. Especially the castle soundtrack got on my nerves as it is used in every castle/dungeon throughout the game (which is like 60% of it). After about 5 hours i just muted the soundtrack and put on my own, which is a shame because i prefer the authentic experience. At least the dessert area, which was both unique visually and gameplay wise, had it's own soundtrack, which was suprisingly good. Normally i don't discuss the OST at great lenghts in a review but it was so repetitive here that i had to mention it. Sound effects are quite punchy tho, so the impact of your swings is felt, but sadly the monster groans when they take damage/die feel like they came straight from the asset store. Still, SFX were servicable, especially compared the soundtrack.

Next up is combat, which despite the simple mechanics was pretty good thanks to an enormous variety of enemies to fight. This game has like more than a hundred different enemy types, and while they mostly play the same, they help a lot to keep things varied. Difficulty was also suprisingly good, scaling along with you throughout the game. It did spike at some of the bosses, but grinding out a few levels never took long to alleviate this. I did not play the DLC however but i heard that those bosses are absolutely unbalanced and out of line with the base game, so beware if you want to play that as well. All in all combat was for sure the best part of this game, some bosses were frustrating but others were great fun. However none of them are memorable enough to make your favorite boss lists.

Other than fighting there's also platforming and exploring to do, and while level design is servicable for a metroidvania it's pretty linear and got repetitive quickly due to the lack of personality that each area has. Other than the dessert area they all felt, played and looked the same which made exploring the full map not as fun as it could've been. There's some secrets to be found while exploring, with good rewards but they're obvious enough that you can barely call them secrets. This does make fully 100%'ing the map pretty easy though, which is nice for completionists. Each level is as said pretty linear but most often you have multiple areas you can visit in any order so in that sense it is sort of open for a MV. You could summarize the level design as servicable but forgettable.

Lastly there's the writing and story, which was very poor. Translation to english is rough, and the little dialogue/exposition there was, was poorly written and failed to deliver an interesting or coherent narrative. Something about the moon and a cycle of corruption, standard fare that we've seen countless times in other (better) narratives. What few cutscenes the game had to offer were more comedic than serious due to the poor animations and janky camera transitions. There were also many animation bugs outside of cutscenes, as well as enemies (and sometimes even bosses!) getting stuck in the walls. The game didn't lag during my playtime, but with it's low poly models that should be a given. The bugs really accentuated to me that the game was all around poorly made.

Everything the game has to offer is servicable but feels so cheap that you just can't help but feel like playing it is a waste of time. I always put gameplay before aesthetics but in this case it was too distracting to be enjoyable & even then the gameplay wasn't that great either. If you really like sidescroller soulslikes you'll get some fun out of the combat in this one, but the quality is too low to be even considered without a steep discount. I bought it for 4 bucks and got a lot of gametime out of it, so i don't feel ripped off but i'd have rather spent my time doing something that felt more worthwhile. If i had to give it a score it would be somewhere in the 4/10 range. Again, only worth it if you have no alternatives and it's on a steep sale.
