My spouse and I were pleasantly surprised at how good this game is. The gameplay is very engaging with multiple different ways to play any one character, entertaining dialogue, and randomly changing dungeon maps. The HUD is nice and clean, menus are easy to access, and the multiplayer/party system is very straightforward once it's unlocked after the initial tutorial.

There does seem to be a few bugs like quest markers not updating when you're in a party or switching between character saves. That said, my spouse and I have still been having a blast and really just wish we could invite more friends to our party (3-person party is a little limiting).

This game is sold with the idea of 'solo MMO' in mind - which for the most part, it lives up to that; the issue surronds the question of what is a solo MMO? The game is in a much better state than launch so kudos for that, however you are getting a mid-tier experience. The quests are drawn out and not written with lore in mind, they are fetch quests of the ultimate degree. This would be a solo MMO experience if you were getting some of the worse parts of the MMO genre.

There is fun to be had, the quick drop in and out of dungeon crawling experience is very on point, if that is what you look for in a game, this will be an excellent choice. The graphics are fantastic, as is the art style. If you buy this on sale, it will not be a regrettable choice, however this is not a full price game. I don't expect to continue after the next 10 hours, however it has been fun.

Из минусов, это оптимизация.. У меня Кримсон Дезерт даёт 60 фпс стабильно без просадок, а эта штука умудряется иногда фризить.

A rare "Redemption Story" in the world of live services.

Sorry for the long post, but these devs won my goodwill and I feel the need to reward them somehow.

Wayfinder started as a live service game published by the company behind Warframe. For some reason, they gave up on the project, leaving the developers (Airship Syndicate) between a rock and a hard place. Instead of just shutting down and walking away like every failed live services do, they chose the hard path of redemption.
With the 1.0 update, they basically turned a money/time-sink into an extremely enjoyable action RPG without any microtransactions. All the skins that would have cost a fortune are now obtainable just by playing. They tuned down the "endless" grind features to make it feel like a proper game. The progression is pretty good (though it could still be a little better), and you can play solo or co-op with up to 3 friends. There is matchmaking, but players are scarce now because the devs have slowed down development significantly after 1.0, in a year the only "real update" they did was released mod support, which is actually an amazing feature, it will give the game longevity through the community even after the devs are done (which seems what's happening rn)
I understand why the original crowdfunders are pissed; the game is no longer the MMO they envisioned. But if you aren't one of those early adopters, the value of the game as it stands today is amazing. I bought it on sale and you can easily sink over 200 hours into this if you want to max out every character.
The only real downside for me is the performance; I get a lot of stutters even with a mid/high-end PC. Otherwise, buy this if you like the "feel" of live service games but hate aggressive monetization this one is a buy.

Sin duda este juego es una maravilla, suuuuper disfrutable la libertad que te da, estoy deseando de que salga completo la verdad, es literalmente un juego tipo mmorpg, muy bien hecho para los que estamos cansados de los gremios y las grandes comunidades de jugar, sin duda es muy recomendable, su sistema de online es muy bueno, es un online similar por ejemplo como el caso de borderlands o por el estilo, puedes jugar tu partida, e invitar a un familiar o amigo y continuar en tu partida por más que el este empezando o más avanzado, si puedo dar un consejo, es aprovechen el precio reducido y demás y denle una oportunidad.
P.D. este juego para Steam Deck es fenomenal para jugarlo un ratito en lo que tienes un ratito muerto.

This game has the potential to be one of the best for its genre, but it fell short on some aspects. I think instead of turning the game from MMO into regular singleplayer/coop game, it should be turned to be something similar to monster hunter or other online games with hub (with the option to still play offline ofcourse) so the lobby feels more alive with more players interaction since the design was originally for MMO so it should work out especially it has housing as well. Also I think all characters should have some sort of self healing since for solo play some classes are way better due to more self sustain instead of relying on potion. It's hard to play perfectly without getting damaged with dodges or parry due to some of the attacks are not easy to tell and worse when there are many of them in a close area. More skill variety for each class would be nice since it would promote more build diversity instead of just being able to switch weapon or talent. Not a big fan of the character unlock system though since some characters are only available later on so you can't experience them earlier.

However, for the price though, it's definitely worth it since it has tons of contents and it goes on deep sale a lot as well.

Hope they keep updating the game or make a sequel with better improvements.

Great gameplay, amazing art style and addicting leveling system. you can freely adjust the talent tree since it doesn't cost anything to re adjust the points you spent, making it easier to explore any build you want. Completing dungeons is very rewarding. I also love the idea that characters are not available from the start and you must complete certain quests to unlock each character and awaken them, it feels rewarding. the looting system is not predatory or exhausting. No microtransactions! characters are unique. I get sidetracked a lot and skip quests just to explore the world and try new tactics against enemies, or trying to get a hidden chest or solve some puzzles. and the best thing is, I CAN DO ALL THIS IN COOP MODE!

What a terrific game. It's an Action RPG that plays like an MMO but isn't an MMO. Every class/character feels totally different and you can even swap the weapon types for them too. The amount of different builds with slight modifications feels great to play around with and most respecs are "free." I haven't reached endgame yet but even just leveling is really fun!

This is a great game at a bargain price!

It's unfortunate that it had a rough start, so it doesn't get the attention it deserves. In the current state, can't recommend it enough! There's a lot of content and addictive gameplay.

It borrows from MMORPGs so it's a bit of a learning curve with the various types of ingredients, upgrades and such along with standard RPG features like sockets, rarity, sets etc. Also a bit of a slower progression before unlocking various mechanics.

But after a bit of time spent with the game, it all ties together nicely into a satisfying gameplay experience.

J'y joue depuis quelques heures et je suis sincèrement tombé sous le charme. Le jeu est beau, intéressant et je suis choqué qu'il ne soit qu'à 20€ (je l'ai payé 5€ en promo cette semaine).
Le Lore est riche, on peut explorer des recoins sur la map, faire des raids dans des donjons avec un bestiaire varié et chouette. On sent que l'équipe qui bosse sur le jeu est vraiment qualifiée et elle a fait un travail remarquable pour tout le level design, Chara design. Le jeu est clairement sous côté.
Si tu aimes les jeux d'aventures fantasy, rapide à prendre en main mais avec une histoire profonde, il est fait pour toi 🫶🏼

Really nice to play coop though the coop is a bit buggy at the end (The Omen II quests in particular, but sometime peoples joining me had no quest marker showing even though the quest was selected). A lot of fun for co-op play with a friend. Unlocking characters goes really fast, if that's good depends on how you like to play. I didn't have an issue with it but also would have liked to get at least one character to 30 before getting another. I however have really enjoyed being able to try them out without having to invest a ton of time into each one to figure out my main. Not going to pretend it is some revolution in gaming but it is fun enough to play for hours. No real resource limitations so progression is pretty smooth. Weapon selection is limited but keeps making build for each character simple. If you like rogue-like/dungeon crawler type games you will probably enjoy this. I got it on sale for $5 so the value is crazy for what you get, 100% worth picking up if you are looking for a fun co-op game to play with friends or even alone!

I wish I could say yes and no.

The game itself is great but missing QoL features such as hold to attack, you have to literally spam your basic attacks via mouse clicks giving you cramps, Good price now with the sale, but holy moly it gives cramps. if you stop clicking, you stop basic attacking,

Originally intended as an MMORPG, you can see the bones in place, but it turned into a single-player with 4-player coop grouping ARPG. It's very much DIablo-like in a lot of systems and designs, while being the combat style of most hero shooters or action MMORPGs like TERA and Guild Wars 2 etc., but stripped of the actual MMO part.

The systems include gear sets, but they don't roll randomly, they are set gear pieces per character, you get them then you are done, but there are many sets and you can mix/match the set bonuses on them. There are three accessories slots that can be filled with different types of accessories that are mostly different stats and set bonuses. There are weapons, which each come with a unique skill and can be used on any character. There is a stat tree that boosts stats, as well as a sizable skill tree with tons of paths and customizaton.

This is all topped off with an echoes system, which are essentially gems that you slot into the gear, weapons and accessories. This is where a good portion of your stats come from and they drop fairly decently. It won't be nearly as grindy as Diablo, but runs off a similar type of principle.

Overall, it's well done for a scrapped MMORPG, they managed to turn it into something worth playing and make some money back off of. I'm not sure if I personally would value it at $25, though you can easily reach the 30 hour mark with one character and finish the story, have been told by others, which fits my $1/hour rule. But I would suggest waiting for it to go on sale for $5, it does this often and is on sale right now as of me writing this.

The combat ranges from piss easy to somewhat challenging depending on what you fight at what level with what gear, as can be expected of most games, so I am sure most people will find some fun with this as long as they like action games like this. It can also be played as a hero shooter with guns if you don't like melee weapons.

NEGATIVES:
The game has optimization issues. It isn't as bad as most poorly optimized games in that it seems to be random stuttering. Every couple of minutes, I will drop frames for about a second, it's obnoxious, but not unplayable. I am getting like 150 frames on average and it mostly runs smooth.

The grouping can also be slightly perterbing. Only the leader can teleport you between zones. You can free teleport within the same zone, but you can't start anything and have to rely on the leader to do dungeons and change zones. And when the leader disconnects to log off or go back to the menu, you don't get to stay in the game and become the leader, you get kicked to the main menu too. This isn't the end of the world, but again, can be annoying.

Overall, pretty fun little game for cheap. It's not a grand game that will net you 100+ hours, imo, as the grinds get easier per character as you can use any gear on them interchangeably, but you can probably get 60-80 hours if you want to play and gear all characters.

I'd say it's a 6.5/10 if you pay full price, but I'd value it at a 8/10 if you snag it for $5 or less like I did.

It.... It's fine. I have to review in absolutes so this is a "no" but there are caveats. Don't buy it for more than $5. It's pretty clear why this failed as a paid MMO: repetitive quests (run the same dungeon 5+ times in a row), poor implementation like losing progress due to server desync/disconnect in the current single player game version, poor gameplay feedback (everything "feels" floaty), etc.

It's a good "turn your brain off and play" game for $5. It's not better than any alternative so if you're on the fence between this and another one, pick the other one.

I expected to get a few hours of entertainment out of this with the 3 person multiplayer, but it's been more fun than expected. The game has fun combat and interesting weapon types. Guns and melee feel sufficiently distinct, and they both fit into the combat nicely. The combat is the most interesting part of the game by far. The combat is definitely the most interesting part of the game, but I would recommend turning on scaling in the world so you don't overlevel the world too quickly.

The game doesn't hold up as well when talking about the story though. It's a forgettable romp around a couple zones and fortunately you can skip through most of the dialog. The bosses are a highlight, just don't ask me why we're fighting them. The characters are another weak point, at least for me. There are a few that are cool or interesting, but no less than half the roster makes me cringe every time I see them.

Technically the game works, but has some issues in multiplayer. My group has run into issues with crashes, loot not spawning, and waypoints not showing up for certain players. It's not horrible, but requires a restart every so often.

For $5 you can't really go wrong with it. It's entertaining for what it is, and I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a multiplayer game to mess around in with some friends at that price.

The game is missing some major introduction phase, in my 70 minutes of gameplay i sort of just run around and kill something when i see it, or it kills me because once again, i can't find any help what item does what. The negative reviews are from before a major update. Now it's a surprisingly good coop action RPG that feels set in a world with a Warcraft inspired aesthetic. No microtransactions as far as I can tell. You immediately have clothing dyes, start unlocking alternate costume parts, gain access to MMO style housing, start unlocking other characters.

I just played solo, but unlocking all the stuff that I assume used to be paywalled just by playing felt fun and rewarding.

This game has had quite a troubled past with Digital Extremes as a publisher, which is the reason for a lot of the negative reviews, but in my opinion the developers, Airship Syndicate have absolutely turned it around and delivered a better experience than what was initially released. A lot of information about the game that you can find online is sadly outdated now. Personally I recommend playing the game as a standard on Nightmare Mode, otherwise I find it to be far too easy.

Le jeu est excellent dans son état actuel. Je sais qu'on est passé à côté d'un jeu potentiellement incroyable à cause de ce problème d'éditeur, mais l'équipe de devs a fait en sorte de nous proposer une version du jeu jouable entre potes et oh boy, ça assure.
Le jeu est beau, avec des zones bien travaillées. J'aime vraiment beaucoup la ville avec ses quarties aux différentes ambiances tout en étant simple à parcourir. Les donjons sont très sympas à parcourir, le côté génération procédurale themée ajoute de la diversité. Les évènements des zones monde ouvert sont sympa, il y a souvent des trucs à faire entre un point A et un point B pour une quête. Pas de trajet inutile, il est possible de se téléporter sur les points connus depuis n'importe où.
Les combats sont très agréables, les soins de Wingrave sont ouf, le burst de Kyros aussi. Les personnages sont intéressants et les combats très dynamiques.
Je regrette juste que tous les personnages ne soient pas accessibles rapidement. Certains sont un peu longs à obtenir. On sent la vision passée d'avoir un light MMO avec un gros investissement en temps nécessaire de la part des joueurs.
Les progressions du personnage + arme sont bien pensées.

Je conseille vivement d'y jouer à plusieurs. À 2 c'est très fun. J'espère pouvoir y jouer à 3 un jour.

La seule chose que j'ai à reprocher pour l'instant ce sont les voix françaises, probablement des voix IA qui ne sont pas terribles donc je joue en anglais, mais elles ont le mérite d'être là et de permettre aux francophones d'avoir un jeu accessible.

Sonuç olarak Wayfinder inanılmaz bir yolculuk geçirdi ve şu an şimdiye kadarki en iyi durumunda. Какая же ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Физика топорная (фанатам Fortnite зайдёт), импакта от атак нет совсем (ни от получения урона, ни от нанесения), класс стрелок максимально унылый. Кроме дефолтных гранат да пиу-пиу нет ниxyя (да и от них урона в час по чайной ложке). Игра, как уже говорил, полностью топорная: с каната спрыгнуть нельзя, на канат запрыгнуть можно только встав в определённом месте в определённую позицию, при взаимодействии с объектами персонаж может даже не попадать по нему анимацией. Находясь в воде вести бой вообще невозможно; по противникам в воде не проходит 60% наносимых ударов.
Это игре красная цена - 2$. Мне повезло, что взял её по скидке. Халтура полнейшая!

picked this up on sale for me and my gf this is so much fun we played 5 hours straight together. def some weird lag issues i think due to maybe its a p2p connection so could be some sort of issue or maybe its hardware driven?. anyway the game is a ton of fun. I don't anything about the history of this game i guess it was a live service model or something idk. but what is here is great and well worth the time of someone who wants to play a action rpg looter game. this feels like destiny but alot more dungeon and dragons mixed in. traps , dungeons, bosses ect and a story that feels kinda like saturday morning cartoons. pick up a few copys grab some friends and dig in. you only start with 3 characters but as you play youll unlock them all. and can switch between them so no need to make new character slots. I feel like this is game needs more positive reviews...

Its a fun game for a few hour until you get annoyed with all the bugs, like spending 20 minutes doing a quest only for the chest not to open at the end of it... don't spend any more than a few quid on this game, its far from finished.
It also becomes grindy and repetitive fairly quick!.. shame, but like most games that go this way, it could be decent if the devs spent some tlc on it.

The story is decent, but you spend way too much time in the first map. Out of my 35 hours, at least 20 were there, and it started to drag a bit.

I tried almost every character: Tankyboi, Shadowmageguy, and Purple Smoke Lady were the ones I enjoyed the most.

One thing that really annoyed me is that every map even every dungeon has its own separate currency. On the bright side, being able to unlock skins with those tokens is a nice touch.

Even though the first map bored me, the next two were visually amazing. In the final map, there’s this giant frog you feed throughout the game… and after all that, I was honestly disappointed it became a pet. I really wish it was a mount instead.

The UI, in my opinion, is pretty bad. If it had auto quest-walk, I’d honestly say it feels like a mobile game and that ties into another issue: the lack of skills. It really limits build variety. Since I mostly played solo, I barely even used taunt on Tankyboi. I would’ve loved more flexibility there. For me, the biggest weaknesses of the game are the UI and the limited skill system.

I liked the dungeons overall(and mutating it gives different vibe), but every single one has an ambush room, and it gets repetitive fast. Sometimes I want to farm mutated materials or specific currencies, sure but other times I just want to rush through, and the game doesn’t really let you.

Crafting is actually decent, but again, the UI needs improvements like a proper search function.

I understand that respeccing your character costs gold, character upgrade and upgrading weapons does too that’s fair. At least it’s not locked behind some ridiculous RNG(like in the gatcha games), and you can farm what you need. Leveling up your character also feels good cause mostly after you hit max level you are getting experience boxes from everywhere. But affinity basically your character’s stats requiring gold doesn’t really make sense to me. I don’t even think it should cost "Gloomstones", especially epic ones, since you get those very late in the game.

Overall, I enjoyed the game despite its flaws, and I’ll keep playing in the future. I just hope the developers haven’t given up on improving it. Finally... LET ME RIDE THE FROG!

I really want to enjoy this game as it checks many boxes for me but am having a hard time getting over the fog effect that covers everything...with no way to disable it. FPS is pretty crappy too on a 4070, especially with this style graphics. I'm glad I got it on sale for under $4. Hopefully someone will develop a mod to disable the fog. That's just one effect that really bothers my eyes. Looks like fun otherwise so I'll probably eventually begin picking away at it...with fingers crossed waiting for that mod...HINT HINT MOD COMMUNITY ;-)

Update: I installed Re-Shade. Used the effects Technicolor (rolls off saturation), Adaptive Sharpen, and Luma Sharpen. Changed DLSS to Quality which bought about 20fps. Much easier on the eyes now and went from 50-60 fps to 85-100 fps on a 4070 at 3840x2160. It's still a little foggy and the fps is a bit erratic but I think it's playable now.

Quick overview - The game has plenty of potential and takes some getting used to in order to enjoy. Recommend playing with friends and getting the game on sale.

Full Review *as of an hour of gameplay*

Wayfinder is a fairly basic ARPG that has you select a pre-built character and their matching skills and playstyle. Each character has 4 abilities and a weapon ability, as well as various passives. You can upgrade these abilities as you level up, but your character will always only have these specific 4 skills and weapon skill.

This somewhat limits what you can do in build variety but given the myriad of other mechanics, I think this is the better decision to make rather than going all out in the manner of PoE or Diablo and having an entire skill tree.

Speaking of the other mechanics, there is A LOT of clutter when first starting this game. You are hit with cutscenes, lore drops, assumed character death, timeskips, and tutorial pop ups that flash on the side of the screen mid-combat where you do not have time to read how a mechanic works and when you finish the fight the pop up is already gone.

This game has REQUIRED reading and there is a decent chunk of it. It is very important to stop and read how each ability works in tandem with every other ability. It is paramount that you read each artifact and stat block to understand how your abilities are MEANT to flow instead of just experimenting and finding your own way to play.

Combat is a bit clunky, especially in the tutorial. I picked Niss as my starting character. An assassin build at first glance, it quickly becomes apparent that you are a quick footed front liner meant to be in the thick of enemies and taking huge advantage of your AoE, your dash, and most importantly, your parry.

As Niss, in the tutorial, the game explains a tiny bit of how the abilities work, emphasizing using the dash as this triggers your passive, etc etc. But dashing without being able to lock on to enemies (in the tutorial) makes it feel uncomfortable to use the ability that this character centers around which might lead many to drop the game before really getting into it and understanding how its meant to be played.

After escaping the tutorial, I checked the keybinds (i am on controller) for the lock on button. R3. Which I pressed in the tutorial and it did not work. After confirming the keybind and adjusting volume settings - the game hard crashed to desktop. Upon restarting the game and trying again, did not crash a second time. But something is a mess here and can lead to you just ending up at the desktop.

This DID roll back the previous content I had just completed, including speaking to Omen (our main lore npc), using a tower unlock (this leads to unlocking characters, cosmetics, etc) and changing my characters style. All of it was rolled back. In this instance, this was harmless, but a CTD could roll back an entire dungeon run.

After some exposition, some more tutorial nonsense, and activating some fast travel points, you finally get let out into the world. Combat remains clunky until you finally understand how its meant to flow and when it does flow, oh man it feels so so so good. You start building combo meter which ups your damage, you get the perfect dodges, master the parry timing and make all enemies your proverbial ♥♥♥♥♥.

Combat shines the most during boss fights where you are able to unleash the full potential of your combos and skills. But in tiny skirmishes, most enemies are dead before you get to do much and in cases where they don't die early you are suddenly surrounded by more and more mobs. It almost feels as if they are respawning every 30 seconds and its easy to get overwhelmed.

All in all, this game has quite a lot of potential, especially when played with friends. I will be keeping the game and diving deeper into it

whatever they did to anger people at launch should be forgiven at this point and I hope they continue to develop for this game. Got well and addicted over the weekend and having a blast. Fun solo or with friends. Played a few hours on the steam deck as well and it was fine, did the job.

I've had a combined playtime of atleast 1.6k hours in grinding games such as Warframe and Torchlight Infinite so when I first saw the teaser for this game I just HAD to get it on release; unfortunately it had a REALLY rough start hence the mixed reviews so I held off and waited YEARS but now that it's reworked and I've finally bought the game, I've been playing nonstop so now I'll give my honest two cents:

PROS
- NO Microtransactions; EVERYTHING is grindable.
- LOTS of content.
- Gorgeous graphics, efx, and world design.
- Every character can use every weapon, while there are metas here and there, what suits your playstyle matters more and being given that freedom is def a plus.
- Optional Coop, you can get through every content of the game completely alone.
- Lots of fashion (customizable looks for armor and weapon)
- Great Open-world and dungeon aspects
- Voice acting is great
- Story is amazing but is optional since dialogue and cutscenes are skippable.
- Cross-platform play
- Boss hunting for endgame gear
- Good RNG honestly, there are rare drop aspects here and there and the freedom to build and play your character the way you want benefits from this; like going full defensive on a mobile character, going full damage on a tanky/shield character, etc.
- Bunnyhopping tech
- Difficulty can be adjusted, and by endgame you are either a master builder of characters or a meta slave, either way its fun.
- Housing, you can get your own house and decorate it and put artifacts that give you permanent boosts as long as they're active.
- Mounts
- Equipment can be used in any level in my experience and you can join high level players but yeah be ready to be ragdolled

CONS
- Optimization; I know I don't have the best PC specs but I'd say its somewhat decent. But running this game on mid-low settings can sometimes make my pc hiccup but its tolerable.
- Connection issues; even if it indicates my connection is 'strong' there is still SOME delay SOMETIMES. Haven't a clue if its mine or the host's net.
- For people who like to onetrick a character/weapon like me, when you reach endgame there isn't much else to do and explore for now but seeing how the game has risen from the dead and has recently added hardcore, I highly doubt that will still be the case in the future.

TLDR;
Do I recommend this game? YES. Is it a good ARPG? YES, and its on its way to becoming great. Is it Pay 2 Win? NO. Can it be skill based or do you just button mash in endgame? BOTH. Is it hard but rewarding? YES. But can you play on easy mode as well? YES.

The only downside I see to this game is that there have been no new updates. I played back when it was live service and I get it, it sucked and bad. From not getting the founder items to 85 day login wait times. However since the switch they really delivered a great product and I wish there was more to come. I think we need more looter-shooters with build complexity like this because outside of this game only Warframe and Soulframe has it and that makes since with Digital Extreme (DE) helped with the base product.

Seriously enjoying the art-style, voice acting (JB Blanc!!!) and gameplay of this one. Sure, it's not an MMO, but I actually think I like it more in this current state and I certainly don't blame the wonderful devs for what happened. No microtransactions as well! I would grab this when it's on sale, or even when it's not if you like co-op and have 1-2 other friends that would be interested. We're only 5 hours in, but I can tell this is going to be our new obsession for the next few weeks.

Thank you Joe Madureira and team for all your hard work, both here and through my favorite game series - Darksiders. If your next games are anything like this one, I look forward to your future creations.

Extremely fun low stress difficult game

Boss fights are hard but you can die up to 3 times w/o resetting the boss's health
You have several game systems are your disposal to buff you up to make you stronger

Great map design. Exploration is fun and rewards my weird ADHD habits by awarding me with loot when I'm off the beaten path

You can have your own unfurnished apartment and decorating it is fun. It's like getting your own place irl except you can actually afford furnisher.

Biggest downside is the meager amount of mods for this game. Maybe allowing for modding right out the gates would allow for larger growth and retainment.

Either way I'm glad I've found a new offline game to enjoy
