I can't recommend thus game the combat isn't good & it feels jank, the voice acting is fine from almost everyone except for the main character Hannah her voice acting sounds terrible. The check point system isn't good either I died & had to restart the stage from the beginning. I'm returning the game for a full refund because of that. I should have been clued in when I saw it was 30 dollars. Hopefully it's not too late for me to return it.
Why does this have mixed ratings?! This is an outstanding action game with rock solid base mechanics, both for melee and ranged combat, and the dialogue is like putting Tarantino, Twin Peaks and OG RE4 in a blender, which has kept me laughing all throughout. It plays very similarly to Space Marine 2, but with less reliance on perfect blocking or dodging, more so based on positioning and use of cover. Gunplay is interesting, reminiscent of Battlefield's, where you gotta shoot in bursts to control your bloom and target either heads or limbs, depending on if you wanted to deal extra damage or try to trigger an execution to get iframes. Outstanding game, you should really play it!

Сверху можно отметить интересное сочетание ближнего и дальнего боя, кастомизируемое оружие и в целом неплохую киберпанковую эстетику. Сюжет, скажем так, странный, да и невнятный войс актинг не помогает. Зато авторы добавили кучу мини-игр - этой игре ведь явно нужна была непроматываемая ритм-игра с караоке.
В общем, по большой скидке вполне сойдет, вполне себе сойдет скоротать вечер. Ах да, и авторы недавнем патчем сломали игру тем, что ярлык стима пытается считать экзешник в месте, где его нет. Просто вырежьте все содержимое из папки game и вставьте в корневую папку игры, дальше все будет работать нормально.

1st try I played 26 minutes. Enjoyed the jank but felt brutally difficult on normal. Spread out checkpoints made it worse.
Tried it again many months later but this time on easy. Felt more manageable but still a good challenge. First level is still crap but the mission after that was awesome. Felt like it should've been the first level instead. The only downsides to easy difficulty is you cant get ng+ but no big deal. And you gotta wear cat ears but I kinda think it looks cool. Achievements still unlock and you get to play the story completely. I see a lot of folks say the game is 5 hours, but it was more like 7-8 with all the extra mini games, exploring the police station for collectibles, minigames etc. And lots of dying too of course.
After the crap first mission the game opens up where you can explore the police station, play mini games and talk to NPCs if you want before starting the next mission. And the mini games are fun too with the exception of the crane game. The shmup minigame was awesome, it's actually a REALLY good shmup! It's also on steam as a free download- Space Runaway. There's also some music tracks that are pretty good as well as some covers which are done well.
The main voice actress is kinda terrible and the rest of the cast is ok. The cutscenes are bad in a good way. There's also anime cutscenes which I liked.
Combat is good but keep in mind you can't rush these enemies. Every time I heard one of my ai teammates mention reinforcements it's best to actually turn around and run back 10 or 20 feet, grab some cover and let them come to you. Melee enemies are too aggressive in my opinion but manageable. Even in easy you still have to be careful using ammo as it's limited and utilize cover. Your melee builds up a circle which you can unleash cool finishing moves. Oh, and don't forget about the skill tree like I did 2 hours in. Enemies also have an unintentionally funny death scream too so there's that.
Glad I gave this game another chance. Yes it's jank as hell, runs like crap and the cinematics are terrible but overall I had fun. It's unfortunate we never got more patches though to smooth more of the rough edges. But the ending I liked, especially after the credits. Shame we'll never get a sequel.

I honestly really appreciate what the game was going for. There are some rough spots and the difficulty is... a lot. But even so it was hecking fun!
Definitely not for everybody, and the gameplay only works for me sometimes. To give an idea of the overall experience this game provides it's best to think of it as some long lost Hong Kong film where the actions scenes were all shot by John Woo, but all the connecting scenes were handed off to Godfrey Ho.

literally have tried everything i can think of plus every strategy i have found online and still cannot get this game to launch past a black screen so i guess i would have to say my experience with wanted: dead has been sub-optimal at best and completely miserable ilf i am brutally honest. Played a for about an hour or more but steam didn't register the time.
But in the big lines I don't really understand how the game received goods notes.
The gameplay is very slow and the change between long distance and melee is very weird/unconsistent. Tough the movement looks cool and all of that. That doesn't change that the feel is baaaaaaaaaad

After a bit of deliberation, decided not to recommend this game.
It's decent, comfy even. Like a cool 90s action flick, or one of those janky XBOX360 action games you'd find in the bargain bin.
There's a ghost of a good game in here, but it's buried underneath a ton of bugs, odd audio mixing, floaty combat with little weight, and very poor balancing. There's quite a few cheap deaths, and the pacing is all over the place.
The story is interesting, from what I can piece together of it, feels like that may be intentional as well, hard to tell.
When it does click, it's fun and cool. Minigames are nice too.

Got it at launch and had high expectation. It was not perfect but i love it nonetheless. Still loves the game and i hope to see more from its developer.
First couple of play sessions saw frustration with the controls, and the game seemed rather difficult. Default key mapping and controller bindings aren't very intuitive. I've since been playing with a controller on 'preset a', and with adjusted stick sensitivities, and now the game is actually a whole lot of fun to play. I had a hard time following early developments and explanations of skills, but after figuring out the mechanics, the combat is a lot easier.
The story is kind of silly, but I'm not playing for the story, really. Silly af mini-games are entertaining, but I don't really care for them, as I'd rather be chopping people up. SLICE SLICE!
I can understand a lot of the negative reviews this game has, because I honestly was probably going to leave one myself, if I hadn't started up the game a third time. I'm glad that I gave it another chance - I am enjoying it a lot and will be playing thru the rest of the story :)

You know Eurojank? Well this game is the Japanese version of that. It oozes charm and style, but man does it have some rough edges too. But at the end of the day, I'll remember this game fondly as a super fun genre-mashing action game that was as wacky as it was short and sweet. In an ironically fitting way given this game's history, the gameplay feels a lot like Ninja Gaiden 3, so if any fans of that game read this, you're doing yourself a disservice not giving this a shot--doubly so considering it can be found dirt cheap on key sites.
Wanted: Dead has style, anime cutscenes, weird B-movie charm… and painfully confused combat. It can’t decide if it wants to be a hack-and-slash or a shooter. Melee combos feel weak, guns feel worse, and enemies tank headshots like it’s nothing. The AI is rough, encounters get repetitive fast, and by chapter two I was already bored. Cutscenes look cool, but gameplay just isn’t satisfying. It feels rushed and unpolished despite the obvious effort. If you want stylish action that actually works, replay Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance instead.

I am really enjoying this game it reminds me of ps1/ps2 era B shooters. I don't think it's meant to be taken overly seriously but it's really cool for what it is. especially if it gives you the vibes i mentioned above (you know what I'm talking about)
A fun and enjoyable little ditty.
I really couldn't manage getting past the first mission of the game. The combat and gameplay mechanics are horrifically clunky and it just felt like I was fighting more against the game than the enemies, which may perhaps be controlled by newborn apes judging by how they act.
I got this game for £2 via a key and I still feel like that was too much, I could've bought a monster instead...

Finally decided to give this a shot after bouncing off the latest Suda51 Romeo. Patches may have made a difference, combat is butter. No air combos, just tactical grounded mixed combat. Very Wick inspired in a way, bespoke level design with a shocking amount of destructible objects? This game was slept on heavily.. very unfortunate. I recommend. Spine is what people are waiting for, yet this exists and people are sadly unaware. Heavily reminds me of old arcade style shooters, like Die Hard arcade.. my advice would be to adjust the audio to make the voices and music lower and the Sfx louder. Otherwise the 2-3 things said over and over during combat can become grating.

it all starts to make sense. The garden area is meant to be laborious.. take the chainsaw and die swiftly.. clever game. EXPLORE the combat system and you will be rewarded. 2026 has been stale thus far, happy I checked this one out ... 3 years late.

Other than that, it has awful voice acting, the characters sound like they had a stroke,
it uses Backspace instead of Escape to navigate menus, it has very low quality graphics, animations and gameplay, it feels and plays like a low quality, asset flip game.
Worse then a bad B movie, save your money.
Cheezy as all phuck, fun and addictive combat, sometimes punishing difficulty walls, but overall an amazingly fun package.... just don't take it too seriously!
One of the most slept on action games in the 2020s. Excellent blend of free form hack and slash with elements of classic beat'm'ups and 3PS gameplay. Every room a combat scenario, how will you solve it is up to you. But make no mistake, this is not a "character action" where you get to show off your combo strings on mostly passive target dummies. These enemies want to kill you and will keep coming at you till either you or they are dead.
Overall, a gem that released in a rough state, but after a few patches it became a can't miss experience for hardcore action game fans.

I thoroughly enjoyed Wanted Dead to my own amazement, specifically the dynamic between melee and long-range combat, and the whole spectacle of gore that ensues. It does take a little bit of time to fully grasp its intricacies, but I always welcome a good challenge when the gameplay is this enjoyable.
The game's story, on the other hand, is a mess with the game constantly introducing plot threads that quite literally lead nowhere. To make matters worse, the game ends abruptly and without any sort of resolution.
I think it's clear the developers had more plans to develop the story but saw themselves unable to due to budget reasons, which is a shame given the somewhat serious tone of the narrative. So yeah, if story is important to you in an over the top action game...well, I guess you better stay away from it. Otherwise, give this game a shot.
This game is terrible. I don't know what ya'll was trying to pull off with this game..it's janky and clunky and the combat just does not flow. It sucks. Sucks so bad.
Why the ♥♥♥♥ did I even buy this game? It’s absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trash. To be honest, plenty of indie games made by solo devs are way better than this. This game has zero redeeming qualities. From the very first second of the cutscenes, character models, and voice acting, you can already tell it’s going to be a total piece of wet garbage. The cutscene direction is ♥♥♥♥, the dialogue is ♥♥♥♥, and the character design is ♥♥♥♥.
I thought, 'Okay, maybe the gameplay is actually good.' ♥♥♥♥ no. The gameplay is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The design feels like a hack-and-slash or a run-and-gun, but for some reason, you're forced to take cover because your character is squishy as hell. On top of that, ammo is scarce and the guns are weak—they don't kill anything. But you can't even charge in with a sword because you'll just get shredded instantly. The game design is confusing as ♥♥♥♥.
The map design is also atrocious; just big, empty, square rooms. Community maps in the Garry’s Mod Workshop are better than this. The sound design is bottom-tier trash, too. The enemies do nothing but scream 'Grenade!' over and over—like ten of them at the same time. And when they die, they scream like a dog getting its tail stepped on. It’s annoying as ♥♥♥♥.
The keyboard bindings are ♥♥♥♥, the controller support is also ♥♥♥♥, and the UI is ♥♥♥♥. The game is plagued with tons and tons of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bugs—I don't even know if it's a bug or if the devs are just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trash at making their game, because everything feels like ♥♥♥♥. And the game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crashes every time you finish a level. Most Flash games you can play in a browser are miles better than this piece of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Well kinda mixed on what to say about the game , It's an quirky and unique game with a lot of personality in terms of both Characters and story premise that u will understand if u grew up watching movies HK action flicks back in the 90's which it takes a lot of inspiration from. Game does end on a cliffhanger though so Hoping we get a sequel.
The combat is solid and fun with Gun-fu being the core aspect of combat with stylish finishers , It seamlessly balances the game for melee combat and Third person shooter.
Story is pretty weird , guess this is what a "Ghost in a shell" game would look like if it had the budget to go big and thats not a bad thing cause for what the story game is trying to tell , its good and keeps it simple and short not overstaying its welcome & gets right into the action
The game itself is a pretty solid game that returns to the root of action games back in X360/Ps3 days before we started getting action games being made into interactive movies under america led playstation on success of Last of us+uncharted and homogenized all action games into interactive cinema into likes of Detroit: Become Human / Heavy rain style games which are designed to be cinematic in nature instead of being forced to be cinematic.

The ending still resonates in my mind.
It’s a deep and tragic story about a woman condemned to a life sentence, forced to endure endless missions and manipulation, all for the hope of saving her son’s life.
Pros:
• The game looks great and the story is genuinely strong.
• It gave me Saints Row and Sleeping Dogs vibes.
Cons:
• Cutscene dialogue volume is too low
• Enemy death screams are way too loud
• Squad members talk over each other during combat
For the first few hours, I was thinking about recommending this game as like a “bad game that’s silly and fun.” But the second half of the game absolutely soured my mindset. The final boss was the nail in the coffin. This game is not good. And I enjoy bad games and bad movies and whatnot, but man this game just really grinds you the wrong way after a while.
I’ll start by saying that the game is a slog on any difficulty but the very easiest, which is called “neko-chan.” And even the easiest difficulty, there are some absurdly hard parts. So its not like you can just sit back and enjoy a “so bad its good” game, you need to suffer through it. The final boss, for example, forces to player to cast aside how they have learned to play the game up until that point, is immune to bullets and shooting, and can one hit kill you even at full health. I don’t know why I suffered through beating it, it took me close to 2 hours. Some enemies in the game are such bullet sponges, you can shoot every bullet you have for both guns in your inventory, and they can survive.
The narrative and how its presented is bad, and it really toes the line between “wow this is campy but kind fun” and extremely cringy and awkward. I don’t know why, in a 6 hour game, we need to see every time the main character takes a shower. She will shower 3 times during the events of the game and best believe the game wants you to be aware of all 3 times. I was rolling my eyes when the main character first appeared on screen and the over exaggerated jiggle physics in her baggy prison jumpsuit had her bouncing all over the place. Dialogue is a horrible, the writers have no idea how people actually talk to each other. Dialogue its either exposition dumps, awkward monologues, or unnatural exchanges between characters.
In terms of setting and story, its just confusing. The game takes place in Hong Kong, but none of the characters are Chinese and the setting has a negligible impact on the story. It could be set in many other places that would have made more sense to the story. I don’t want to get into it but man, the characters, the story beats, the “fun” filler, and the exposition just don’t land. It is not worth the frustrating gameplay.
The characters are so strange. Theres a Donald Glover like old man cop that is obviously a joke. Hannah Stone, supposedly the leader and main character of the police squad, shows no leadership to speak of and feels out of place in the squad. Her voice actor is terrible. The high heels wearing “hear me out” synthetic human is cringy.
The mini-games feel misplaced and weird. I get that they were going for a “Yakuza” type thing, but it just doesn’t feel right.
The ONLY cool thing about this game is seeing the enemies get absolutely cut up by the player. Dismemberment and executions are really well done and fun to see.
I could go on and on but just skip this one. Its gameplay is unbalanced, janky and insufferable. Its story and how it is presented is bad, and not in a “B movie charm” type of way.

Great game, but people will misunderstand it and refuse to meet it where it's at. Challenging, fun, unique combat. I was exited when I found out about this game, had initial friction but then grew to love it. Even bad voiceacting, constant minigames and abundant (optional) collectibles doesn't knock the wind out of Wanted: Dead and it's challenging unforgiving combat. I really hope there will be a sequel.
If you willing to play the game that's in front of you and not the game you wish it was - definitely recommend.

This is that kind of B-Action movie that's so bad it's good. This is a game that's so very Japanese and it's not shy about it, with the new game+ and the extra difficulty setting "Japanese hard" included.
Terrible sound effects and possibly the worst English voice mixing that you can imagine. The developers know how to make an action game, though.
Along with the action game, there are some extras.
There is a short-anime in here, which was really, really cool as well.
The minigames are: a Space shooter arcade, a ramen eating contest, the most difficult karaoke minigame you could ever imagine, a crane, and shooting practice.
On the technical side, no crushes and no apparent bugs to regret.
It isn’t a bad game. It’s also not a good game. It exists in a strange, awkward limbo somewhere between “almost” and “why though?”
The shooting feels off, like the guns are mildly annoying you’re using them. The melee combat wants to be something like Ninja Gaiden, but never quite gets there, which is extra funny considering this was made by former NG developers. You had one job, lads.
And yet… I kind of liked it?
The story is dumb in a fun way, the soundtrack slaps, and the cyberpunk setting is stylish enough to carry a lot of the game’s shortcomings. The voice acting is bad, not “early Resident Evil” bad but bad enough that it loops back around to being charming. You’ll cringe, then laugh, then accept it as part of the experience.
Do [b] not [/b] buy this at full price. But if you see it on sale for dirt cheap and want a janky, uneven, oddly lovable action game? Yeah. Why not.

Sooo first review of a game i've decided to write. I went in hoping for a s[iritual sequel of the old wet and I'm so disappointed. Gameplay feels really clunky and unrefined, the shooting is an ok addition but they force u to use the sword because of the scarcity of ammo and the unnecessarily tanky enemies and apparently even the easy mode gets you stronger than necessary enemies. Well guessing is not the easy kinda game but your enemies aren't only the npc you meet but also the camera, not so responding commands, not the best dodging and parry sistem and minor bugs here and there. If you're looking for a quality product go find it elsewhere or try to replay the old wet if you still have the old gen consoles to play it on

The first sentence of the game's description on steam is: "Wanted: Dead is a new hybrid slasher/shooter from the makers of Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive.", and there's a lot of people shocked (and leaving negative reviews) that the game plays like a hybrid slasher/shooter from the makers of Ninja Gaiden. By contemporary standards, this game has low production value.
For the beer drinkers out there, let me give an analogy. Have you noticed the evolutionary convergence of craft beer towards IPAs? Maybe, you might even like IPAs, but regardless, still wish there was more kinds of beer being made. Wanted Dead is like going to your local microbrewery and finding they make everything but IPAs.
Melee combat focuses on 3D positioning and hitboxes, which is actually really rare these days, with many games opting for suck to target, hurtbox tracking, and dodge-roll iframes. You wield a pistol in the off-hand that has unlimited ammo, never needs to be reloaded, and is primarily used for ranged hitstun, animation canceling (yourself and/or enemies), and combo extension.
This game has imposed level design, which is actually really rare these days. There are hallways, stairwells, congested office spaces, and random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you have to walk around. That is to say, you actually have to navigate 3D space while performing melee combat in 3D, which has practically disappeared in many games. Those games prefer large open unobstructed spaces, which also necessitate suck to target.
You will be forced into ambiguous combat encounters where enemy archytypes are perfectly covering each other's weakness, and you are expected to resolve the situation by connecting your hitbox with their hurtboxs in a way where their hitboxes aren't hitting your hurtbox.
If you can relate to the last three paragraphs of autistic 27 year old boomer posting, this game is for you.
Fun game reminiscent of 360 games. Voice acting isn't the best but it doesn't take you out of the feel. Would recommend 10/10.
ゲーム中、いきなりクラッシュしたり(6時間プレイで2回)、ボスが橋の上から降りてこなくて戦えなくなるなどバグも若干ありますがアクションはプレイしてて楽しいです。敵を倒す時のアクションがかっこいいしプレイしてて気持ちいいです。
ただ、難易度というか操作に慣れないと難しい高難度なゲームだと感じました。
難易度はふつうでやってますが、ボスは初見突破がまず無理なくらいの難易度で、やられるとまたボス戦前のとこまで戻されます。ソウルライクな難しさがあります。特にステージ1のボス戦がきつくて10回以上リトライしました。おそらくここで操作に慣れてください的な感じだと思うのですが、ここでクソゲー判定して辞めてしまうプレイヤーも結構いるんじゃないかなぁと思いました。
難しい分、クリアできた時は上達したという実感と達成感があって良かったです。
PAD専ですが、ボタン設定もいい感じで操作しやすかったです。
プレイ中、合間合間に入ってくる音ゲー的なミニゲームは苦手だったのでもう少し簡単にしてほしかった。(ここもしっかりムズい)
好き嫌い分かれるゲームで人を選びますが、アクションゲームが得意な方にはおすすめです。

If you told me this game came out n the PS3, I would believe you. It's got plenty of jank, truly awful voice acting, and plenty of charm. They do not make games like this anymore. The combat is pretty fun and at times feels quite epic. It's a very short and sweet playthough and if you're looking for some Character Action slop, this will surely scratch your itch. Pick it up on sale.

I beat it in one sitting. I don't get why this game was so disliked. The combat is fun and yeah it's a bit simple but when you get the hang of it you really feel like a badass. The story was interesting but went nowhere at the end. The characters you never get a chance to care about with the 5 hour run time.
TLDR: Fun game, too short to care about anything other than the gameplay.

I saw this game on a You tube Video about games that were good even though they got bad reviews. So I got it thinking it was going to a fun and good 3rd person shooter with little to no story. But what I played was so much more. The game did have a story and it reminded me of anime movies and shows I had seen that I liked. The gameplay was repetitive but not anymore than some AAA games I have played. The game also has some mini games that start out as part of the story but you can revisit later, even after you beat the game as they can be found in the main menu. And you don't have to beat them to progress the story which has been a turn off with some games I've played that require you to beat the mini game to progress. I think that given what I said above and that you can get the game on sale for less than $5 at a Steam sale (I bought it for even less than that through a 3rd party retailer), you can't go wrong. It is a short game but the ending left me thinking way after I turned off the game.

Basically, this game is like The Expendables movies. Most of the time nothing makes sense, but somehow it’s entertaining and the characters are likable. The gameplay is exactly what you’d expect from people who worked on the Ninja Gaiden games. Maybe not worth the full price, but if you're into good old 2000's vibes then is a must at a sale.
John Wick style hack&slash. Not too long, but it's fun.
This game is a hack and slash having an identity crisis. It can't decide whether it wants to prioritise melee or gun combat, the mini games have nothing to do with the plot with the only reason you'd play them after the first time is if you were achievement hunting and for some reason some of the flashback cutscenes were done in a completely different style from the rest of the game.
If you are looking for a game that combines gunplay with melee combat I reccomend you find something else. The shooter aspects of this game are decent with your primary firearms being decently powerful but limited by your ammo capacity and the cover mechanic is okay but it falls apart quickly after melee enemies become commonplace and start rushing you forcing you to fall back and engage them away from their fellows, which would be fine if it weren't for how janky the melee combat feels.
Quite frankly I feel like the melee combat is awful. The best part of the melee combat in this game is the way you can cut scores of weaker enemies into gory bits feeling like a beast as you shred your way through them and for the first few levels the flaws in the melee aren't really apparent but then you get to the last two levels (the game has five) where it introduces the final iteration of the melee enemy. An enemy who can empty your health bar in a single combo if you mistime a parry or fail to dodge and yet takes a serious amount of damage before going down. The risk of trying to parry an attack versus dodging or even better running away and shooting them till they die isn't even comparable, this is exacerbated by how punishing some of the checkpoints are at no point is engaging a melee enemy in combat ever worth it.
Initially I had a lot of fun with this game but the last level ruined it for me. Forcing you to go through a close series of cramped rooms and alleyways where you are faced with numerous enemies who will send you all the way back to the start of the section would be bad enough the fact you have to do this without the one time revive provided by one of your squadmates just makes it even more agonizing. I died at least three times as much on this last level as I did throughout the entire rest of the game and that was before getting to the last boss who has I will admit left me more than a little bitter.
The final boss more than anything highlights the flaws with the combat in this game. First of all he is completely immune to gunfire while not staggered making half of your options almost useless. With how large his health pool is you can fully appreciate the complete lack of variety in terms of combos there being only three. You can also have a great time trying to parry his attacks where a single mistake means being stunlocked out of your health bar and don't try to heal anywhere near him or he'll dash atack you while your heal stun wears off and stunlock you right back to near death. You better have learned gun parries by this point as well or the unblockable instankill attack from his second phase that instantly triggers with zero warning if you just so happen to attack him when he uses it will make you suffer. I didn't beat this guy through skill or learning his patterns, I beat him because for whatever reason his AI decided not to use the forementioned attack and I stunlocked him right of of his healing ability back to back without him getting an attack of during his second phase.
I had fun with this game yes but the way I feel right now after that frustrating mess of a final level, if I had the chance to go back and advise myself whether or not to by this game even despite the discount I would say no.
The story exists I guess, it's not particularly complicated and they didn't actually do anything with the more interesting bits of it anyway so it's whatever. Some subplots exist too but they aren't relevant and you could play the whole game skipping all the cut scenes and still have basically the same experience but over a significantly shorter timeframe.
Wanted: dead is an animation teams fever dream project that had help from artists, while programmers were there for the minigames, not for the main game or just were not given the same amount of time as the animators so they just "vibe" coded the game, and someone's dog ate most of the story board.
TLDR: PS 1-3 ERA AA game, with no time to expand the vision nor make a fulfilling game, but has odd charm about it that you might remember randomly in 10 years. Get on sale for 70% or more off and play on a weekend with a good beverage of your choice.
When you play the game, you see that the animations, for a AA studio, are amazing for the finishers and cutscenes. Some cutscenes are done in anime like style, which is random but well done.
Then we get to voice acting, gameplay and the story.
Voice acting is proper 2000 Japanese game, dubbed in meh english style, no Jill Sandwich, but you do feel the akwardness of the dialog, because of the lack of finnesse, or maybe lack of direction or story that makes it all fall flat.
Prep for "Good job, Cortez" or "Go get them Herzog" while in gameplay. Despite being 6-7 -_- hours long, that does get on your nerves by the end.
The gameplay is dollar store hack and slash. The issue is that you have only 2 combos, 2 types of parries,after a skill unlock you can use 1 for everything. And ranged combat will get you killed, because of all the ranged enemies and the slow response time of ranged combat(granade launcer and rpg are usable), you are better off running as a lunatic and trying to slice everyone up since there seems to be some damage reduction when you do so, and the game has bloodborne type recovery system that when you lose hp, if you hit something in melee you get 80% of hp lost back.
That said, melee combat is enjoyable because of the finisher animations, if you enjoy good gore and/or satsifying reactions to hits, it does that great for the most part.Its does run out steam by the third level, but considering that the game has only 4.5 levels. That is not a big issue.
Also it takes 2 Yakuza style traditions mini-world(police station mostly) and mini-games being well made, no idea why karaoke or crane game, bullet hell shooter seems to feel polished, but here they are, I suppose.
Story starts off well enough, I mean you get to play a 2 meter(6.5 feet) tall Katana wielding Swiss lady that's tough and would squeeze you between her thighs because she finds you cute Amazonian from futurama style, I am up for it, you are too.
There are interesting beats, with people being used as slave labor in place of robots, because its cheaper(fun future we are heading into) to corporations taking everything over and manipulating the stock market(of course), to what it means to be a mom at 15, now if it all was structured and talked about in a coherent and not rushed manner (with better voice acting) could be amazing. But that is not the case, some things you learn from notes you find in the world, others get revealed and forgotten about in cutscenes that you are supposed to puzzle together 2 hours later.
The game was a rush job, and that is noticable in the final level where they spam you with the most time consuming enemies, mutiple boss fights and don't explain anything, besides in brief cutscenes afterwards to kind of sequel bait/give a backstory to the main character or something?
Honestly, it's sad, because I enjoy the idea of what the game is trying to do and tackle, but they just did not have the time or budget to make it an awesome complete package, but to me, its a fun time to see what kind of wacky thing we can get.
I think its worthy of one playtrough, free or on deep sale, it might not be your cup of tea, but it sure is unique for now a days climate.
In short... its a mess... Its a hack and slash with a shooting.. But the voice acting, the gameplay.. the SUFFERING was not worth it... I wanted to give this game a 4 or below, but the fact that they put some effort into the cutscenes '' even with bad voice acting '' was a +..
The bosses aint hard, but in the same time the 3 phase boss was a bs.. first kill all sync while he bombards you.. then pushes down and goes for you with a gun and melee that most of the time ya cant fully parry.. And then right off the bat at phase 3 he knee kicks you in the face..
But whatever about that, simply the bosses were meh at best.. its a game that would be ALOT better if there would be polishing done, but doubt it will ever happen...
Still for the effort, still a 5/10 from Catto..
Get the game now for 2 eu on places.. but no way in hell don't buy it full priced....

[h1]Jank infused future cult classic held back by almost everything other than the gameplay.[/h1]
When the action works, it's still great. You can feel the spirit of OG Xbox era Team Ninja trying to shine through, especially on Hard / JP Hard. "Mastering" the game feels pretty satisfying, as far as the jank allows you to. It looks like this got a combat overhaul patch at some point, so maybe it was way worse. Still some bugs, sadly.
It could've gone without the "modern" additions of a skill tree, and the cover shooter gunplay really doesn't work during the vast majority of the game. Less could've been more here.
The level design is nowhere near something like NG but fully functional. I quite liked the atmosphere of most maps.
Enemies were pretty bland for the most part, but the selection creates enough variety to stay engaging.
Some serious S-grade jank going on during parts of the combat, not everything clicks as well as it should. You can get destroyed for something out of your control, which is not good.
But the worst is the baffling VA cast and writing quality for a "regular" release, nearly torturous to witness. Stiff delivery, nonsensical lines, zero flow of anything story wise. I'm normally all for B-movie cheesiness but this was truly something.
Dare I use the word cringe, what were they thinking? They get an extra point for having a Divinyls cover play during a cutscene, though.
All other minor gameplay additions feel very tacked on and out of place, namely the minigames. But they also add to the wackiness of it all.
Not going to give this a thumbs down, it felt too special. But [i]man[/i] does it feel like this could've been way better.

Esse foi um game que eu "achei" por um acaso e foi uma grata surpresa. Divertido, tem uma história rasa, mas uma temática bem interessante.
É basicamente um bom [b]hack'n slash[/b], com uma ótima jogabilidade, bons gráficos e algumas maluquices no desenrolar da campanha.
A protagonista tem um visual bem estiloso e o combate é bem plástico e visceral.
Em uma promoção, vale a pena experimentar!

To be honest, it’s not a bad game, but you can tell it went through development hell. If only the devs had more time and a proper budget, and good publisher, it could’ve been a really good game. But it is what it is…
After the police station, the game feels like it’s just trying to end as fast as possible.
The devs or the publisher made a big mistake by setting a $40 price tag. This is not a $40 game - it’s a B-tier game, and the price should be around $15.
They should also add a demo so people can at least try it, because this game is definitely not for everyone. If you enjoy trashy games or want to go back to the Xbox 360 / PS3 era, you might like it - but ONLY ON SALE.
I had fun and I like updated John Wick style combat (especially after level up certain skills) , characters, music, world building and 90s aesthetics.
Hopefully, the new publisher will be better than the previous one, and we’ll see a sequel or some DLC.
P.S. I’d recommend playing on easy; otherwise, the game can become very frustrating and painful to play.

Bastante malo lo poco que jugué. Raro que devuelva un juego de este tipo y no lo recomiende, pero como que no sabe si quiere ser Vanquish o Ninja Gaiden, en mi opinión, no implementa muy bien los 2 estilos (Third Person Shooter/Hack and Slash) y me hizo doler la cabeza en 40 minutos. first off if you dont like parry focused games, bad B movie stories and voice acting, and way too many ninja's between check points in the last mission, you wont like this game.
that said, if you arent going to play it i would recommend watching someone do a lets play because this game is wildly "so bad its good" in a lot of ways
Not even worth typing a review. The Melee combat is trash, the parry mechanic does not work most of the time. The mini games are the only 100% fleshed out part of the game.

Devil's third story mode upgraded.
nobody in this game is capable of acting, nothing you're doing or why you're doing it is ever made clear, combat is largely frustrating, none of the boss fights are even really enjoyable. Really the character designs are kinda cool and that's almost all the game has going for it. It may be the closest approximation to Tommy Wiseau's 'The Room' that videogames as a medium will ever achieve

-abuse bullet time as much as you can
-ignore the shooting as much as is reasonable
-get used to parrying
-don't waste skill points on any of the team or ranged skills until you have basically everything else (you should be able to buy every skill by the end of the game anyway and especially need the bullet time perks to properly cheese)
-have fun

la Habilidad Bullet Time esta completamente rota y solo con esa es suficiente para pasarte el juego en maxima dificultad, pero aun asi el combate te entretiene aunque sea repetitivo.
This was a really fun game to play. The ending isn’t very strong, but the journey itself more than makes up for it. I hope the developers improve the story and the tone in a future game, because the world they created has a lot of potential and feels like a solid foundation for new stories.

I get that many contrarians nowadays have probably disappointed their entire bloodline and are disowned by their fathers, so they need to feel validation in beating some random video game that a few hipsters have labeled as a hidden gem. "Yeah man, the critics couldn't understand this game, we're so much smarter than them." I'm sorry, I know IGN must have stolen your lunch money or something as a child, otherwise I don't understand why you're so obsessed with them, but they weren't harsh enough on this game. "It's a return to PS3/360 era jank. It's so cool and ironic!" Are you out of your minds? Did I have a stroke and forget every PS3 and 360 having syphilis? Because that would explain the level of garbage in this game. Wanted Dead is a piece of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that nobody in the right mind should play under any circumstances.
Well let's start off with the presentation of the game... it's ♥♥♥♥. Everything is ♥♥♥♥. The story? What story?! The music is so generic and impossible to hear in the sound package most of the time, the voice acting is GOD AWFUL, the NPCs repeat the same four ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lines over and over and over again, and there's loads of audio bugs. The visuals are painfully generic, most enemies and environments look like they're lifted from a royalty free graphics engine portfolio. Even after two years there's still clipping issues, weapons teleporting through the floor being unable to pick up because these geniuses thought that taking cover and grabbing a firearm should be on the same button, and many achievements also didn't pop on top of that. So I can't even show proof that I made progress in this unpolished piece of ♥♥♥♥ game. Yeah they probably stopped patching and giving it care because they realized it was garbage, unlike its defenders. It's ok, you can move on from your childhood trauma. You're allowed to have the correct opinion on something.
The combat is why most people are here and God is this one of the most misguided, clunky, badly programmed releases I've seen in this genre. Your squad mates and enemies alike have the most ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AI ever. They go from standing still and looking in one direction, to firing full auto accuracy in another direction the next frame, followed by zig zagging around the arena in different directions, followed by tea bagging in and out of cover for no reason. So many shootouts and fights involve entering a room, you clear the room of enemies and push forward, reinforcements arrive, and they run past you to take cover and flank in a position that would have made sense if you had just entered the room. They're all taking cover with their backs to you ready to be blown out by the protagonist's samurai sword. So they have zero autonomy or desire to live and you just gun down most of the enemies as they arrive. The amount of times the piece of ♥♥♥♥ bosses in this game suddenly got a memory leak and started spamming the same move over and over again was... actually that was all of them. All of them absolutely sucked balls. Worst bosses ever. Although I guess that's not a massive step down from Devil's Third and the OG Ninja Gaiden games in terms of the quality of bosses so I won't be too surprised by that.
The shooting is so piss poor. Guns don't have any weight to them, you have no ammo, the grenades never do enough splash damage, and no matter how long you hold the grenade button or aim it, you'll often just chuck a grenade at your feet. WHY DO I HAVE TO MASH THE BUTTON TO SWAP MY GUNS OVER AND OVER AGAIN?! In this game, you can shoot and swing your sword seamlessly, ok great, yet if I want to swing my sword and then switch my GUN to the secondary firearm I have, it treats that like I'm just unholstering the rifle I *currently* have equipped. So then you push the button again to pull out your other firearm, she still doesn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ switch, so you start wondering if the game is bugged, and you're probably getting sniped by a grenade launcher dude who ran to the starting position of the combat arena you thought you cleared out, and your allies didn't bother to take him out so there goes ten minutes of progress because nothing works correctly.
Your melee attacks have zero feedback whatsoever. Remember a good game like Ninja Gaiden? Hell maybe another cover shooter like Uncharted? Vanquish? ♥♥♥♥ even Resident Evil 6! In those games, you hit an enemy, there's instant feedback. This game has nothing. Half the time the enemies don't react at all to your moves, they get hung up in animations, and they animation cancel like they're Dante being played by someone who doesn't know how to style switch so they're just hitting the D-pad randomly. Oh but the game has block canceling! Oh my God guys! Did you hear?! The game has block canceling! Who the Hell cares?! It doesn't add to the depth of this game, it's just one more thing the devs barely paid attention to and just helps you cheese some of the really bad boss fights. This game doesn't know what it wants to be, the combat flips between shooting and slashing in a very jagged and mechanical way with no real thought put into it. "Hey man, this isn't a hack and slash game! It's not a cover shooter! It's a hybrid of the two, it's such a fresh and cool idea." Then why the hell is every other game in both those genres better at everything this game tries to do? This doesn't get brownie points for trying something new. This isn't new, this is painfully mediocre slop with a dumb skill tree full of abilities that should be part of your base moveset, useless teammates, terrible bosses, janky presentation and controls, the sound sucks, the levels suck. This game fails on every level imaginable.
This failed abortion came out around the same time as Hi-Fi Rush did and I cannot comprehend the gap between these games. It's like the difference between Mozart and Salieri, it's Under Pressure vs Vanilla Ice, it's the action game equivalent of Kendrick vs Drake. You couldn't have a more clear and concise comparison of something that is quality and something that fails in every regard imaginable. It is deeply repetitive, unimaginable, forgettable garbage that got probably better reviews and sales than it deserved, and that's saying something.
Not terrible, but not great. The graphics are good, and the controls are responsive, but this game doesnt know what its trying to be.

-ISSO AQUI COM CERTEZA É UM JOGO MEME! Olha as telas de transição.,,, Os devs com certeza tavam fazendo o jogo com o mouse em uma mão e uma breja na outra.
-Esse jogo usa IA deliberadamente, claramente da pra notar na dublagem (Não é atuação ruim não, é IA mesmo. Provavelmente ele usa IA na merda toda e os cara só não falaram pra gente! Essa deve ser a grande piada do jogo)
-Difícil e com uns spikes ridículos de dificuldade em algumas áreas, bem padrão Ninja Gaiden mesmo.
-A sinopse diz que o jogo é um híbrido Hack N' Slash + TPS, não procede! Esse jogo é MAJORITARIAMENTE UM HACK N' SLASH. Recomendo fortemente uso de Joystick, você vai sofrer se tentar usar Mouse + Teclado como se fosse um TPS padrão.

「感情移入できなさそうな主人公だなぁ」と思いつつも、最近はこういう古典的なアクションゲームは少ないので購入してみました。
しかしこれはひどい。雰囲気だけでなくゲーム性もB級です。
スカスカな内容も、それを補うためのミニゲームもまだ許せます。
しかしアクション面や難易度調整は擁護できない。
これニンジャガイデン3の戦犯だけ集めて作ったでしょ？
ニンジャガイデン3でイライラした人はセールでも絶対に購入してはいけません。
Non date ascolto alle recensioni delle varie testate più famose, Wanted: Dead è un piccolo capolavoro ed uno dei videogiochi che ha portato una ventata di aria fresca nel panorama quasi stagnante.
Non aspettatevi un Ninja Gaiden con le pistole o un Gears of War con le spade, Wanted: Dead se lo vogliamo paragonare a qualcosa è più simile ad un Contra o Metal Slug, un run'n gun in 3D.
Ultima cosa, non si vede spesso un videogioco in cui ogni singola risorsa è un componente fondamentale per poter dominare il gioco, armi da fuoco, granate, e varie tecniche di spada hanno tutte uno scopo e diventano tutte parte integrante del proprio kit che userai dall'inizio alla fine.
$40 game? I don't know about that, but if you can pick this up on sale you're going to have fun if you love 360/ps3 era jank. I mean that in the most genuine way possible. I can feel the game closing to an end. I've had my frustrations with a few parts, but it's not impossible. Through the awkward voice acting, the charming characters, and the 80's cyberpunk vibes I can see a gem in here. There will be people 10 years from now saying Wanted Dead is an underrated classic. I picked it up for $6, but I'd be willing to spend as high as $15-$20 on it if that gives you a better sense of it's value.
Don't skip this one.
