Reminds me of playing Warlords as a kid.

Underrated gem
This and Speedrunners are tied for my favourite couch coop game. Amazing, deserves much more recognition!
Snappy gameplay, nice soundtrack, easy to pick up.
This game is genuinely fun and dynamic, perfect for a local party with 4 controllers. The music and colors enhance the competitiveness as the ball goes exponentially faster, with cool looking characters and customization. Loved it!
Nagyon jó kis party játék.Gyorsan elsajátítható, szóval hamar bele lehet merülni.
Best local multiplayer game ever
Had a lot of fun with this before discovering how to use the powerups. I think the murderball game is more fun without them, but there's no way to disable em. What a shame. They should add an option to disable them.
// Wand Wars
Pixel game.
Unique Lo-Fi soundtrack vibes.
Game has Very Positive reviews.
There's "Trials" for 2 players and "Versus" for 2-4 players.
Local Multiplayer (2-4 players) with 7 play modes: Arcane Arena, Team Arena, Merlinball, Hexout, Team Hexout, Spellstorm and Medley. If you choose "Team" and don't add an AI Bot first (before choosing team) it will be 2 vs. 1 if there's only 3 players.
Overall good. Kind of grinded to be a little samey on the campaign but also this game isn't really designed for this. I would give it my 'all good for everyone' couch seal-of-approval if some of the spells weren't ridiculously overpowered and sometimes things could kind of happen that could doom you to die. Liked playing it though. Just not in the pantheon of 4-player vs. games for me.
Wand Wars was a game that flew right past most of our radars, but is absolutely a wonderful hidden gem. The raw mechanics of the game are simple, but the skill ceiling is extremely high. I went in completely blind, and have spent over a dozen hours so far enjoying the wonderful experience that this game holds.
There are many fun game modes, all with a distinct feel in the way they play. Some are straight death match modes, using only hexes and power-up spell gems to destroy your opponent. The main mode is Merlin Ball, where you try to destroy the opponent by hitting them with a ball last struck by you. This makes the basis for most of the game. As you hit and charge the ball, it gains size and speed. Eventually, it shoots around the screen at lightning speed. The ball can be deflected back, grabbed and charged and released, or stopped with a "chicken hex" spell, which neutralized the ball or turns the enemy into a harmless chicken for a short time period if it hits them.
The balance between getting managing the field, ball, players, and special spell gem power-ups, can seem overwhelming, but you begin to adapt and learn. Each match is an individual challenge with every moment depending on how you and your opponent play. You have to be good at timing, parrying, catching, angles, and have quick reactions. The game feels like playing dodgeball crossed with billiards, but on brooms. It truly is something special and unique.
On top of the witty and enjoyable single player campaign and local coop, there is also the Trails mode, which is a rouge-like experience where you advance one Trial at a time. There are regular Merlin Ball matches, as well as boss fights with bullet hell attacks. Between each Trial, you get to choose a card that allows new abilities or buffs. Building a successful deck takes strategy and some luck. It has been a very fun experience climbing the Leader Board there! The later Trials get more insane than pretty much any game I have ever played, and take a great loadout and near-perfect gameplay to advance.
The team who developed this game cares about their work, and even fixed an issue with the Leader Board years after the game has been released. There is love and dedication oozing out of this game.
To anyone who loves skill-based arena matches, this game is a must-play. It's mechanics are solid beyond belief, and let's not forget that is has one of the most bangin' Soundtracks I have heard in my 20 years of gaming. Each song is catchy and really pulls you into the experience.
Wand Wars is a fantastic hidden gem, and deserves much more recognition than it has received! I can't wait to see the future of this wonderful development team!
This game is awesome. If you love Lethal Legal you'll love this.
It is... functional? That is actually something to praise considering i have many games like this in my library and the common denominator is that multiplayer is a must and there is no multiplayer scene to support the game or the single player part is quite basic and added on top just to get a 'Single player' support tag for it. But for this one it seems there is a proper single player campaign and it is quite difficult.
Apprentice levels are a breeze but then it gets interesting. And it's pretty much skill based. When you get whacked you mostly consider it was your own fault. Mostly.
I can only imagine how the insults will fly if played as couch game.
Simple yet fun and beautiful game where you bounce a ball with your magic wands.
There are several modes, including story. You can only begin with one character; others will be unlocked when you complete the previous story, but each takes it a step further. The plot is light and not very interesting because it has just a few lines before battle, but it's still a nice effort.
The gameplay is simple. Aside from flying around on a broom, you possess three vital abilities. The basic strike sends the sphere flying in the opposite direction. While you can aim while holding down the button, the time window is quite small due to the sphere's tendency to move.
The goal is to send the sphere into opponents, eliminating them from the round. A single game has numerous rounds. A sphere is harmless if it matches your color, but lethal to everyone else. However, the opponents will hit the sphere with their own color, so you need to be cautious.
A sphere cannot be lost since it will continue to bounce off the sides of the screen, moving faster the more it is hit. Unfortunately, the mechanic becomes unfair as it reaches crazy speeds. Computer opponents tend to catch the fastest sphere because they have reflexes most people don’t have. Another issue is that you never know when they will release it throughout the charging time. It usually surprises you, but they don't seem to have that problem.
The second useful ability is the arrow spell. It flies towards an opponent, transforming him into a chicken for a few seconds. The spell's duration increases as you charge it. It even works on the sphere because it removes the color and leaves it neutral.
The final ability is only available when you grab a spell gem. It varies depending on the spell, and it can activate immediately when you grab it, as with shields, or when you push a button. New spell gems are unlocked when you fill up the bar with enough experience points. You get some after each combat, so you're always making progress.
Stages are another thing you can unlock with experience points. These are really interesting and look fantastic in pixel art. Although they are simple enough not to detract from the gameplay, practically all of them have a distinct method of creating spell gems. It can float in a bubble on a water stage, drop from a receptacle when hit with a sphere, or just spawn in the center of an arena.
The other fun mode is trails that comes with a roguelite element. You progress through arenas and gain perks after each victory. You get to choose between three, and some options are shorter cast time, faster broom, shield, etc. There’s also a special ability that recharges after use. You have three lives, and the goal is to get as far as you can. The problem are bosses, which have a health bar and use the unfair advantage of always catching the fastest sphere.
Unfortunately, this little title didn't get the spotlight it deserved.
The pixel art is gorgeous, soundtrack is amazing and its local multiplayer is insanely fun.
Amazing soundtrack, really fun gameplay. I even enjoyed singleplayer quite a bit, but I do think it's best played with friends.
One of the best local party games I've played so far. Sadly I had to move and now that my friends are way I don't really have anyone to play with, I wish there was Multiplayer that would be awesome!
*I tried remote play and it's still kinda ♥♥♥♥*
This is the game I would show as an example when talking about visual feedback in video games.
best game ever
This game is super addictive. They've done a lot with it over the years which is awesome. Great to play with friends too, there aren't enough games with same screen co-op (and vs).
This game is one of the best party games I've played in a long time. I love the concept, the art, the execution, and especially appreciate the co-op mode. It's a shining shimmering example of couch competitive mayhem at its best. Highly recommended!
This game reminds me a lot of Lethal League (also great). This one is couch multiplayer only, so if you regularly get together with friends IRL and like quick/brutal fun indie games, I highly recommend you pick this one up.
10/10
Great multiplayer game if you have at least two controllers !!!
Merlinball versus is a ton of fun if both players have similar level
the game is overall simple but really effective, really worth its price
great game, great value
Gorgeous pixel art, smooth and fast-paced dodgeball-esque gameplay, with a mix of relaxing and riveting electronic BGM. Regular mode ('Arcade Arena') is frantic fun in multiplayer, Merlinball is an arguably even more awesome team-based secondary mode!
Trials mode quickly gets a bit over-the-top with the powerups, but can still be a nice diversion for some players; I wouldn't get this game with the intention to play that particular mode.
Oh yes, it runs flawlessly on Linux. Consider getting it on sale if you play alone and like what looks like frantic magical dodgeball / Quidditch, definitely consider it if you plan on doing some local multiplayer sessions!
Extremely fun! Similar to lethal league but also vastly different.
OK, 5 stars.
I REALLY wish this game has online multiplayer given the price they're asking for. Definitely an amazing game though. WARNING: Steam Remote Play lags like CRAZY no matter how good your internet is
I wand to die
Really fun, stylish game!
this game is a must have.
it's great for parties, it's great for solo, it's easy to pick up. there are literally only 3 buttons to use even my grandma could play it, yet it really gets your adrenaline pumping, it's even fun to just watch. There are still different mechanics so it's great for expert players too. 10/10 one of my fav games, a simple game but a great one.
great fun with friends
Hilariously funny with friends and also awesome in the single player campaign. Very fluid controls and fun twitchy but tactical arena combat shooter with an accelerating energy ball à la Leathal League you have to watch out for the whole time. Different game modes keep it fresh. Very recommended!
Criminally underrated game!
-Amazing aesthetic with pixel art
-Super satisfying sound design
-Addictive adrenaline rushing game play
-Quirky and fun story and universe
-And my god THE SOUNDTRACK, have not fell in love with a games soundtrack like this in a while
The story is challenging at some points, but very fun. The trials offer a lot of replay-ability with or without a friend and new power ups after every trial. But the real centerpiece of the game is the local versus. Only downside to this game is a lack of online.
Overall is one of the most polished and fun party games I have played in a long time!
Great fun for local couch game night. VS and co-op game modes. Harry Potter vibes
I wish I had friends so I can enjoy this
Wand Wars is easily one of my favorite local multiplayer titles, and it easily earns a spot in my rotation alongside Samurai Gunn 2 and the Jackbox Titles, thanks to its collection of varied modes, high skill ceiling, and easy to learn nature.
Presentation-wise, it's a slam dunk. The backgrounds are beautiful, the visual effects convey a real sense of power, and the soundtrack is excellent. Every action you take in this game just feels juicy, and the game really benefits from this.
Singleplayer works great too! They're far from an afterthought, as the campaigns (as mundane as their stories might be) are challenging and plenty cute, and the endless gauntlet mode offers yet another varied experience. (That one's playable in co-op, though I haven't tried it like that)
Plus, hey, chicken TF! As if it wasn't already ticking all my boxes, haha.
If you like the look of the core gameplay, the game provides you with a huge variety of ways to enjoy it.
Fantastic roguelike 1-2 player coop trial mode.
Great couch competitive multiplayer modes, including free for all and team based.
Cool single player story missions, with great variety. Chapter 2 has some especially challenging missions.
Fun and casual couch coop! Quite competetive if played against each other though it is possible to play coop modes too!
Wand wars is a fantastic local multiplayer game with a lot of variety with different game modes, but Arcane Arena and Merlinball are definitely my favorite!
Delicious Couch Co-Op Om Nom Nom!
Worth full price buy it asap
Great alone, better with friends!
One of the best couch pvp games I have ever played.
Très fun. Parfait en multi entre potes.

Wand wars is amazing in many ways and I have many fond memories with my family playing it, its the most fun competitive indie retro looking game with a little humor.
The music is very chill and pleasant at the same time, kind of a soul vibe to it.
The sounds are very satisfying and keep in line to some of the humor in the game.
There are lots modes are very creative and balanced, I love merlin ball.
The unlocking system is perfect you can also turn off unlocking in the options and have everything right away amazing feature!
Graphics are so charming for a retro indie game and the colors really pop out with all of the spells and etc.
It is a very fast paced multiplayer mayhem kind of game and its absolutely worth full price!
Lethal League foundations with Towerfall sensibilities on top. Nice but not earth-shattering.
Quite fun and well balanced
A magical dodgeball game with different arenas, spells and abilities fun either single player or with friends, crisp pixel art and sounds, the increasing rush and speed is quite intensely fun :)

Awesome game for a night with friends! Multiple game modes! Think of Tower fall and Lethal League together with quiditch from Harrry Potter. What are you waiting for?
Unreal that this game doesn't have same recognition and support that towerfall or lethal league have. Some much polish and content! Must have for couch multiplayer pc gamers.

Awesome game. Loads of fun and great variety with all the different modes!
dynamique, fun, facile à prendre main, seul ou à plusieurs
Amazing party game!
with no online...
Thanks Matt
Great game to play with friends :)
I don't own this. why
Easily one of the best games I've ever played. It's crazy more people don't know about Wand Wars.
Great visuals and sound. One of the funnest couch games for any system.
Competitive tickle time fun game
Maravilhosamente divertido e bonito
game good
I adore this game. It's great fun local co-op but every once in a while I still have a blast just jumping in and doing the Trials (a sort of Endless mode with unique power-ups and rewards for completing levels). There are lots of game modes and it's just a frantic, hectic great time when the ball is near full speed and size bouncing around the ring as you all try to freeze the ball or get the last tap in to destroy your opponents. Also the music is amazing and fits the game perfectly.
You may look at my profile and think my favorite game is Eve Online, or Civ V, or Total War Warhammer II, but you'd be wrong, my favorite game is Wand Wars. You just can't sink as many hours into Wand Wars as some of those others.
One of the single most polished games I've ever encountered! No slowdowns, frame drops, or glitches in the entire game. So to begin with it's smooth not to mention the gameplay is fun and intuitive yet a surprising amount of depth and mind games to fool around with. Initially, I contacted the developers to understand how the controls work so I could get a better understanding of gameplay functions to see if this game had the depth I was seeking. The developer I spoke with gave me a long well informed message that explained everything I needed, did so in a timely manner, and was incredibly friendly and fun to talk with! This is a great team with fun ideas and solid execution and I would add this game to your collection if it even looks moderately interesting. While I may have received this for free from the developers after showing my great interest in the game I would still buy it for full price as it is more than worth it.
gzl
Fun and original coop game. Worth every cent.
A great chaotic party game for you and three friends. Can't recommend for the single player, but the multiplayer is a great time that takes minutes to learn.
Great competitive indie title that's somewhere in between Lethal League and Towerfall Ascension, but very much it's own thing. Looks nice, sounds nice, and plays nice as well. A wealth of content that deserves more attention!
Fun game.
I've only played the single-player version so far, but I bet it's really good as a local multiplayer game, too.
fun , fuN , fUN , FUN !!!
If you have enough gamepads and too much family, this is a must! Most of the time, pixelated retro styles are a cop out, but this looks and sounds beautiful. I think I need the soundtrack now.
Fun gameplay, polished visuals, and a dope soundtrack
10/10. This game it's REALLY awesome. Same hype as Towerfall (maybe more?). Very atmospheric soundtrack. Me and my friends are addicted on our "party game meetings" for some time. Great FREE updates after launch. Even my friends who do not play video games like it!
And I caught him almost at his release!!
Bought it on Steam and PS4!!
Inspiring game for devs!
one player mode sucks. you know you're playing against AI for real. that's not human reflexes....
A super fun and exciting game that isn't as well known as it should be!
One of the Kind, its color full, really good OST it really fits the game.
One of my favorite couch game.
Need to be at least 3 player to have some real fun in pvp tho.
Towerfall Acension + ...air hockey?
I love it! Great party game, up their with Towerfall. Just needs some features to complete it, such as replays and per-player custom loadouts. At that point, it would pretty much be on par with Towerfall, which I know is saying a lot!
But regardless of whether it's quite up there is Towerfall, it's definitely a great party game to have. What would make it even better for parties? 8 player mode!
Extremely fun. Frustrating as all-getup, but fun. The game requires you get quite good to advance very far, and at times can feel unfair, but overall it's a blast to play and has a great soundtrack. Great fun for multiplayer as well. Local only! But still, a greta couch-multiplayer game with a lot of laughs and "OMG" moments to share.
NIce
This game is great
Just a great game to play with friends. This realy is underrated.
Lethal League meets Harry Potter.
Wand Wars is an absolute Go-To if you want to play to a fun, fast paced game with your friends or family. I absolutely love the story and the matches are, even though sometimes a bit frustrating, really intense and fun! You should totally try it, you won't regret it!
The beautiful child of Lethal LEague and Towerfall, that doesn't really cares about what their parents did, and shines in it's own way. Best played with friends.
