Somehow I missed that in 2009, but fortunately it still holds up, and I enjoyed the very most of it in 2025.

It's classic RPG in structure, opening up new areas along the story, yet you can always go back to previous areas.
It also understands the lessons from older games, like Gothic, about building a breathing world.
Thus it brings an immersive city, recognisable characters (with voices,) factions, variety in quests (with multiple resolutions,) along with its own mechanics and fresh ideas, which all work well.

It also comes with janky combat that won't satisfy the demanding arcade players, but satisfied me.
I really appreciate when a game doesn't respawn its mobs and keeps the cleared areas clear.
This one does, with a handful of local exceptions (if you want to grind respawning mobs, you can roam certain dark streets at night.)

Boss fights occur, but are not as annoying as the norm (despite their use of the 3 stages trope,) mainly because none of them overstays their (un)welcome.
However, these were the moments when the game bugged for me, into deadlocks and even a couple of crashes.
I had to replay some boss fights from scratch several times.
They are also the only moments when manual saves are disabled.
Which, by design, wakes up the most powerful being in the Universe for him to apply his law: the dreaded Murphy.

The one part I really disliked lies somewhere else however: A mid-game quests wants you to return to the starting village, with no other task than killing dozens of the same mob along the way.
Roughly 1 or 2 of them every few steps.
Felt like endless punishment, with a heavy toll on the player's mental fatigue.
Apparently the quest designer called sick one day, so the studio recruited a temp for the task.
After that, fortunately, it's back to exploration and adventure.

Quite engaging and entertaining.
For me, the jewel on the crown is the locations design, the creativity and ingenuity put into them.
Points for originality, on top of feeling organic and achieving memorable, at time superb aesthetics.

Action Rollenspielt aus den 90er mit Suchtgefahr.
Grafik Gut, Steuerung einfach. Viele Skill möglichkeiten und Waffen. Es ist Unterhaltend, Packend und spielt in Venedig . Eine schöne Geschichte mit überschaubarem Schwierigkeitsgrad, die sich nicht unnötig in die länge zieht, gut geeignet zum Durchzocken.

Going to combat all the reviews here talking about crashes and problems. On Windows 10 there is no issue, aside the Leon crash I only had ONE random crash. Some flickering light/textures, in Arsenal there were several VO/text mismatches and a random skeleton I could pick the choices for, that was weird. In Africa I was dropped to the exit when entering caves, so going "forward" I came right back outside. Those were my only isssues.

Tying left mouse to Q allowed me to play perfectly the entire game with one hand. Very arrow spaces sometimes became an issue, and stairs. So many stairs.

Not the best, but really good and fun game. Some of it is quite janky and not just the gameplay but the quests, the plot and pretty much everything, but it didn't bother me much, because the game overall is very interesting and it definitely has a soul.

Very strong element of this game is their interpretation of Venice and its structure. The game also lets you do quite a few decisions that seem to have an impact. I only played the game once so I don't know how many choices are fake, but this element felt pretty good to me. The next good thing are the characters. Scarlett is very likable, but I think that most of the characters are quite unique, consistent and interesting. And the graphics... I think it probably looked a bit outdated even in 2009 when it was released, but the game has its charm and an unique style. I like how it looks.

I feel like this game is quite underrated because I just never really heard of it until now and it turned out to be really fun.

And in the end I feel like this game is as good as it is because it does a lot of things in an unusual way that is hard to describe. This game feels like it should never exist because accountants would never allow it.

If you decide to give it a try, expect a janky but fun experience.

I guess it's impressive that it works as well as it does. Only crashes occasionally, but can get stuck if you tab out. Probably not worth recommending when there's so many better games to play with these days. It's kinda curious from a nostalgia point of view. Everything feels very dated. Combat, skills, inventory management. Writing is kinda bad, but in an uncanny sort of way where it's almost impressive.

Tag schön! Ich spiele dieses Spiel seit über 20 Jahren immer mal wieder und es macht immer noch riesigen Spaß in die Welt von Venetica ein zu tauchen. Auch wenn es schon einige Jahre auf dem Buckel hat fühlt man sich sofort gut aufgehoben. Es ist nicht zu überladen und man fühlt sich auch nicht so gehätzt wie in den meisten neueren Spielen. Von mir eine gute 9,5 von 10 ...

Its not a bad game but the pc port is pretty much unplayable. Some NPC while disappear and cant finish the quest other while straight up crash the game. There is also times where the city of venice wont even load when exiting buildings and require to restart the game.

Es ist super und es hat auch heute noch enorm Charme. Gerade weil es sich selbst beschränkt, sowohl in der Spielwelt als auch in der Charakterentwicklung, und dabei angenehm auffällt. Es ist kein Endlos-Epos mit stundenlangem Grind, sondern einfach eine schöne Geschichte mit überschaubarem Schwierigkeitsgrad - gute Unterhaltung! Mehr nicht und basta.

Die Zeiten waren noch schön, als ein Spiel einfach nur ein Spiel sein durfte - ohne den ganzen modernen Schnickschnack (Online-Zwang, Open World-Sammelquests, Mikrotransaktionen...).

Wer etwas über die alten Texturen hinwegsehen kann, bekommt (im Sale) für eine Packung Kaugummis ein sehr schönes Spiel mit toller Atmosphäre, coolem Design und super Vertonung (und das noch aus Deutschland).

Эххх, Venetica — игра моего детства. Помню, ещё был старый-престарый комп, и он, блин, тащил игры 🙂 Помню, как где-то нашёл диск и установил эту игру. Раньше боёвка и квесты казались мне слишком тяжёлыми для прохождения, а сейчас, когда вырос, всё стало на свои места.
Проходил уже на сложном режиме, но там, по сути, ничего особенного — урон всё так же хороший. Реальную опасность представляли разве что лобстеры-переростки с клешнями, и вроде бы всё. За всё прохождение я умирал, но благодаря нашей способности воскрешался, а по-настоящему умереть просто не мог — нужно было ещё постараться.
Подведу итоги игры: да, она местами баганая, старая, мир, конечно, не живой. Бои лёгкие даже на сложном уровне сложности. НПС, противники и боссы вообще не представляют сложности — для победы над ними нужно лишь знать их слабые места. Навыки тоже спорные: самый мощный навык открывается лишь к концу игры, и смысла от него уже почти нет.
Ну что ж, всё, что хотел, вроде бы сказал. Игра может заинтересовать лишь тех, кто любит RPG-бродилки с квестами.

Unforunately unplayable due to constant crashes.
For example, every time you enter/leave a building the game will crash.
Capping FPS to 30, lowering graphic settings, performance changes or opening the game as administrator - nothing helps.
I suppose it is Windows 11 which causes the problem.
But this game is literally in every way unplayable.

Игра очень устарела, скучнейшая боевая система с закликиванием одной кнопкой, локации и прокачка тоже сильно устарели. Бонусом идут периодические вылеты из иггры (а если ты давно не сохранялся, об автосейве даже не мечтай). Так что если хочется погрузиться в старую рпгшку, крайне не советую, лучше пооиграйте в Dragon Age: Origins, куда лучше сохранилась

Venetica — старая, но по-своему атмосферная ролевая игра, действие которой разворачивается в мире, напоминающем фэнтезийную Венецию. Главная героиня, Скарлет, неожиданно узнаёт, что является дочерью Смерти, и отправляется в путешествие, чтобы остановить угрозу, нависшую над обоими мирами — живых и мёртвых.

Игра предлагает простую, но увлекательную историю, лёгкие элементы ролевой системы и достаточно уютную атмосферу. Визуально проект уже заметно устарел, но в нём есть свой шарм — от музыки до архитектуры и неспешного темпа повествования.

Несмотря на возраст и скромный масштаб, игра может понравиться тем, кто любит старые RPG с акцентом на сюжет и приключение без излишней спешки.

Душная, старая, кривая xepня. По началу еще терпимо в это играть, хоть и не без приколов, но в один прекрасный момент появляется желание - просто молча удалить и забыть как страшный сон.

Боевка yeбищнaя, по уровню кривизны и человеконенавистничества где-то в районе Готанов, если не хуже.
Уeбищнaя камера, с точно таким же прицелом; нaитупapылeйший лок камеры во время босс файтов благодаря которому, можно бегать у босса в яйцах и ниxepa не видеть; симулятор Соника с бесконечными перекатами как отдельный вид извращений, а сами перекаты на 3 сантиметра, причем катаются в бою все, что мужики, что вы; удары проходящие над противниками; бурстовые ваншоты за секунду с ниxyя (тут можно передать привет кабанам из 3 Готики); про летающих yблюдкoв вообще молчу, в игре без нормального дальнего боя, без прыжков, с yeбaнcкoй камерой ими нacpaли на каждом шагу, да, они сявки слабые, но раздражать им это не мешает.
Что еще тут есть?
Низкополигональный общительный дед в стартовой деревне, который может сломать игру начав с нами свой oxyeннo интересный диалог, из-за которого игру приходится закрывать через 2й рабочий стол, тк этот древний кусок кaлa даже альтабнуться нормально не может, а вот альтф4 послать козе в трещину он может.
Внезапные краши на босс файтах, вот просто с ниxyя, дpoчишь какую-то фазу тупого и скучного босса, а параллельно с этим играешь в русскую рулетку... умрет игра или нет... воспалится очeчeлo или нет...
Может просто оружие как бы пропадет, но анимации ударов будут, но самих ударов как бы нет, тк оружия в руках у нас типа нет, но оно cyкa есть.
Фаст тревел, если это можно так назвать, открывающийся на ~10 часу игры, это сильно, сама игра, если что, очень медленная во всех смыслах, в плане скорости передвижения гг, анимаций входа/выхода/лестниц, yeбищныe мини игры, требования по репутации или лвлу и тд.
Кстати, мини игры, 6лять. Взлом замков, это выше всяких похвал, как только по сюжету у нас открывается возможность ломать замки... всё, пи3дa, 9/10 сундуков будут с этой вcpaтoй мини игрой. Сама игра выглядит так, два жмура нам показывают порядок цветных отмычек, мы это запоминаем, после чего повторяем, это может быть как "красный, зеленый, зеленый, желтый" так и "красный, красный, красный, синий, зеленый, желтный, красный, зеленый, зеленый", дpoчит невероятно, а самое смешное, что в награду за эту пoeбень мы получим 10 монет и булку хлеба, просто oxyительнo, что-то реально полезное... крайне редко. О! Эти жмуры еще одобрительно кивать и улыбаться cyкa будут после каждого удачного вскрытия.
Уродская карта, мини карта и вечно тяжело дышащая гг. Это так, чисто труп попинать.

Прокачка.
За лвлап мы получаем очки для статов (самих статов 4) и очки навыков.
Статы, это сила, хп, мп, магия. Вот только есть нюанс, хп/мп понятно, ты качаешь, полосочка растет, это видно. Но вот прокачав условную силу, урон от меча или физ абиллки не растет, а что она тогда качает? Требований определенных значений для ношения оружия тут нет, с магией тоже самое, вкинул 10 поинтов, но условные вороны как долбили 100, так и долбят. Либо это xyeтa не работает, либо не отображается.
Для навыков, нужно искать тренеров, приятного в этом процессе мало.
Местный прикол с броней вообще не оценил, мы не можем просто взять и нацепить найденный доспех, мы должны найти xмыpя, который подгонит эту шмотку под нас и заплатить ему за это денег, а уже потом сможем носить обновку, зaeбиcь.

Сюжет мне не понравился, не зацепил, был бы он интересный, возможно, эту cpaнь было бы легче терпеть и не дропнуть. Про сайды, это любимое "подай принеси" или "сходи oтпи3ди". Cyкa, тут даже гильдия почтальонов есть, где наши квесты это доставлять письма... очень интересно.

Если как-то подытожить, это Готика с тянкой в главной роли, такая же кривая xepoбopa, если вы прям ярый фанат Готанов, то и эта вкуснятина вам скорее всего понравится. Тут также есть схожий по вайбу "ТыДажеНеГражданин" момент, кушайте. Единственное отличие, это система воскрешений, у нас есть 3 полоска, которая позволит реснуться на месте если нас oбoccyт, а со здешней кривизной это может произойти быстро и четко, но самое главное, внезапно.

Игра мне не понравилась, развлекаться в ней неприятно. По скидке попробуйте, если хотите ощутить кривой... геймплей.

Not a terrible game, but the Steam version at the very least is infuriating to play on modern hardware. Many people have issues with startup, and even if it does run there's no stability. Although I didn't run into any game-breaking bugs, it would consistently fail to load areas and/or crash. Trying various patches and fixes did little to alleviate the issue, I wouldn't be surprised if I found memory leaks were causing it to eat more and more RAM usage with every startup.
If you do choose to buy it:
Save often
Keep multiple saves files
Be prepared to restart the game (and possibly your computer) every ~2ish hours to prevent the game breaking.

Venetica моя любимая игра. Уже два раза проходила эту игру, очень нравится. Интересный сюжет и геймплей. В игре есть головоломки и некий крафт брони и оружия. Да игра не свежая, но этим и затягивает. Нет ничего лучше, чем старые добрые игры, наполненные атморсферой ностальгии. В игре нет русского языка, но давно есть руссификатор, установить его не проблема. И остается просто сидеть играть и наслаждаться геймплеем.

- The game will sometimes have that bug where you cannot start the game for whatever reason. The only solution that i found is to delete certain files like usersetting, Fmodex.dll, setting, etc and then verify for it to work

- One of the interaction with NPC such as Leon for quest cause the game to crash

- Full Screen Effect has to be turn to low in order to have stable FPS since there is no optimization for the game

A good game that tries to imitate Fable and Gothic.
It doesn't always hit the mark!
It occasionally crashes, sometimes the texture doesn't load and you have to quit immediately in order to not corrupt a save.
The combat is not the most refined tool.
The dialogue isn't any better either.

But all these "FEATURES" could be forgiven if the pacing that almost killed the entire experience. You are rushed without any explanations and the story takes a long time until you get some answers.
But I persisted, and if you are more forgiving with this games's shortcomings you will as well.
I really liked the treasure hunts and the ghost counseling, to bad they are late in the game.

Venetica is such a weird, charming game and very emblematic of its era, yet unfortunately forgotten and relegated to the eurojank wastes.

It has a lot of what I enjoy in these low-budget RPGs: unbalanced and repetitive combat that’s way too easy to cheese, half-baked dialogue choices, guilds to join (though only one per playthrough), and a semi-open world to explore.

* Some settings only save if you change them from the main menu; otherwise, they’ll reset (the sound options, for example).

* The game crashed twice for me during the first boss battle. I managed to progress by setting the executable to run in Windows XP (Service Pack 2) compatibility mode.

* There are other crashes too, including an unavoidable one that happens if you talk to your brother in the guild. Luckily, I never encountered anything truly game-breaking.

Paguei R$ 1,99 nesse jogo em promoção, terminei e fiz tudo que o jogo oferecia em 30 horas, seu sistema de combate é bem simples e direto ao ponto mas funciona, historia um tanto clichê mas funcional, as quests do jogo conseguem ter muito mais peso em desenvolvimento que muito jogo atual apesar da simplicidade gráfica e jogabilidade desse jogo.

Quem for comprar lembre-se que é um jogo antigo pode dar uns bugs em sistemas mais novos pra jogar eu tive que forçar o jogo para modo janela sem bordas com software de terceiro para evitar crash ao dar alt-tab.

Pra mim é um jogo nota 7/10. Recomendo.

Игра будто бы пытается копировать Готику, но по итогу получилось нечто, сродни Аркании. При этом игра лучше Ризена 3 от Пираний. Но по сравнению с Готикой и даже Ризеном 2 - херня полная. В целом, игра средняк, но не заслуживает негативной оценки. Вся суть моей писанины - объяснить, если кто-то это будет читать, что игра на любителя. Шанс дропа очень высок. Но я как поехавший готоман осилил. А еще жопа главной героини - отпад. Главный мотиватор проходить всю игру от и до.
1. Локации относительно линейны: мир - это, кишка, поделенная на секции. В каждой секции окольцованная локация, на двух противоположных сторонах которой выходы на прошлую и новую локи. И чтоб пробиться дальше по кишке, нужно пройти сюжетный квест данной локации. Да и сам мир не смотря на коридорность, так же небольшой. Еще меньше, чем первая готика. При этом успевает задолбать беготней по старым локациям, даже при наличии фастревела почти в любую пройденную локу.
2. Навыков для "заработка", как было в готике, тут всего два: добыча трофеев с животных (Один навык на все виды шкур и зубов), и алхимия. При этом практически все боевые навыки - это скиллы, прожимающиеся цифрами на клаве. Даже навыки ближнего боя. А слотов всего 9. При этом на мечи, молоты, копья и отдельное оружие "Лунный клинок" отдельные навыки, ДАЖЕ БЛОК У ВСЕХ СВОЙ ЛИЧНЫЙ, ЗАНИМАЕТ СЛОТЫ, и ИХ НУЖНО КАЧАТЬ. Игра заставляет тебя менять вооружение в каждом бою, т.к. големов и каких-нибудь крабов ты будешь рубить мечем пару минут, когда как молотом ты быстро их раздробишь. И слотов под эти навыки банально не хватает.
3. Квестов крайне мало и они унылые. Разные пути их прохождения сводятся к выбору одной из двух реплик диалога.
4. Всего 5 типов брони на всю игру, с крайне странным приоритетом на защиту. Каждая броня защищает тебя в основном только от одного типа урона. И лишь одна дает защиту от посохов (Копий) на 15 очков, пока остальные дают 50 от мечей или 50 от дубин (молотов). Защиту от магии дают так вообще в финале игры.
5. Есть три фракции, как в готике. Но их выбор ни на что не влияет, может быть, кроме фракционных квестов, не уверен, дважды проходить это я не буду. Броню фракционную не дают. 3 из 5 видов брони, описанных в прошлом пункте - выпадают с врагов. Выбор фракции не влияет на ход основного сюжета. Выбрав некромантов, тебе по прежнему доступны учителя ближнего боя. И в обратную сторону. С полным древом прокачки.

[b]Venetica - Gold Edition[/b] es un juego de rol en tercera persona para un jugador. Cuenta con una historia interesante y un buen diseño y ambientación en los escenarios. Pero también sufre muchos de los problemas de los juegos europeos de la época, como un combate simple y poco equilibrado, tosco en general y algunos [i]bugs[/i] un tanto molestos. Si te dejas llevar y aceptas lo que ofrece es una buena experiencia pero depende mucho de cada uno.

[h1]Heroína del destino[/h1]
Un misterioso grupo se encuentra reunido a puerta cerrada discutiendo sobre lo que parece ser la vida eterna. El líder de este cónclave, aquel al que se dirigen como Arconte, parece detectar una pequeña chispa que podría arruinar sus planes. En la aldea de San Pascual, la vida de la joven Scarlett está a punto de cambiar para siempre.

La historia está bastante bien, aunque tiene bastantes clichés también se sale de la norma en otros aspectos y, excepto un par de secciones cerca del final un poco más alargadas de lo que debería, avanza a buen ritmo. Viene con voces en inglés o alemán y textos en español. Curiosamente, la versión física venía también doblada y es posible encontrar e incorporar las voces en español en la sección de guías del juego.

Ya de primeras se nota que el juego es europeo, en concreto, obra del estudio alemán Deck13, quienes después harían Lords of the Fallen (2014), The Surge y más recientemente Atlas Fallen. El sentido artístico es muy propio e incluso algo desagradable en ocasiones, los escenarios tienen buenos detalles pero son toscos en su elaboración con texturas feas y muros invisibles.

El mundo es bastante extenso pero formado por pasillos más que amplias zonas. No tiene viaje rápido, excepto uno un tanto limitado en la segunda mitad. Esto no es problema durante la historia ya que está hecha para llevarte de un sitio a otro de manera natural pero si decides completar el contenido secundario sí estarás obligado a dar bastantes vueltas con idas y venidas. Tiene un ciclo de día y noche y un sistema de moralidad en función de las respuestas de nuestra protagonista, nobles y honestas o violentas y vengativas, que afectarán al desenlace con dos posibles finales.

El combate es muy simple, con un único botón de ataque y otro para esquivar. Podemos encadenar golpes si pulsamos el ataque en el momento oportuno lo que aumentará el daño de nuestro próximo golpe. Con cada nivel (hasta un máximo de 32) conseguiremos 3 puntos de atributos y 10 de habilidad. Los atributos son Constitución, Sabiduría, Fuerza y Mente, que aumentan vida, maná, daño físico y daño mental (mágico) respectivamente. Los puntos de habilidad los usaremos para aprenden técnicas activas y pasivas, tanto físicas como mentales, pero para ello deberemos encontrar a un entrenador que nos enseñe. Estos puntos no se pueden reiniciar de ninguna manera, aquello que aprendas es permanente y no hay suficientes puntos para aprenderlo todo.

Tendremos acceso a cuatro tipos de armas: guadaña, espada, lanza y martillo. Existe una única guadaña, es un arma especial. De las otras, las espadas son más populares gracias al número disponible y las rápidas animaciones haciendo que su especialización sea el camino más fácil para salir airoso comparadas con las otras en gran parte del juego. Algo similar ocurre con las técnicas mentales, no podremos tener un personaje mago/espiritual ya que tardaremos en tener acceso a técnicas útiles y su gasto es bastante elevado, dejándolo más bien como soporte de un arma física.

Es uno de esos títulos que falla un poco a la hora de combatir contra más de un enemigo a la vez debido a la forma en la que funciona la cámara y la agresividad de estos. Cada vez que recibimos daño no podremos movernos durante un instante pero sí recibir más daño con lo que es posible perder mucha vida o morir en poco tiempo. Los jefes sobre todo tienen unas colisiones cuestionables. Pero también tiene sus cosas buenas. Como un muy buen diario donde es fácil seguir las misiones y guarda toda la información importante descubierta. Algunos de los escenarios son bastantes interesantes, con un diseño fuera de lo normal. El inventario no tiene límite y existen vendedores especializados; si quieres ganar más dinero es importante tener en cuenta a quién le vendes qué. Si decides ignorar algunos de sus aspectos más bastos y te metes en la historia y mecánicas disponibles, el resultado es bastante bueno.

Tiene tres dificultades entre las que se pueden cambiar cuando queramos: fácil, media y difícil. Ofrece compatibilidad parcial con mando pero por alguna razón no va como debería. El control de la interfaz, sobre todo a la hora de comerciar, es un tanto desastroso pero peor es en combate a la hora de esquivar, por alguna razón parece invertirse haciendo que Scarlett ruede hacia donde no debe. El teclado y ratón es recomendable en este caso.

La [i]Gold Edition[/i] no ofrece contenido extra dentro del juego. En su lugar, en el directorio de instalación aparecerá una carpeta con el mismo nombre con un libro de arte conceptual en formato PDF, vídeos de desarrollo y la banda sonora.

En cuanto al estado técnico. El juego tiene sus años y se nota. Me sorprendió que funcionara sin más pero tiene algunos [i]bugs[/i] y fallos visuales ocasionales como sombras y texturas parpadeantes, escenarios que no cargan correctamente (éste fue el más común en mi caso) y algo de inestabilidad ocasional; aunque yo sólo tuve una salida al escritorio sí parece haber más gente afectada con esto último.

La historia principal debería durar unas 12-15 horas. Completar el contenido secundario y explorar cada escenario podría añadir unas 8 horas extra. Al completarlo no se desbloquea nada nuevo.

An old and clunky yet at its hearth a solid action Rpg that goes underrated by many, but its worth the time.

Pros:
- Not many biomes however those that are present are beautiful (from the starting village on the cliffside to the sewers and catacombs and the beautiful city of Venice with distinct districts immerse you in the game)
- Okay soundtrack and voicelines
- Many sidequets to keep you busy and a choice of 3 guilds to master (you can only pick 1 per run)
- Decent skill tree and a combat system that uses melee combos backed by skills

Cons:
- Buggy at times (talking to a certain npc always crashes game, memory leak after hours of playing, questmarkers are sometimes useless)
- Some voicelines are too quiet in cutscenes or when talking to npc
- Early game you have no travel options making it somewhat tedious as Scarlet the main heroine is slow

Its an old action Rpg with some outdated mehanics however it is still fun to play and worth the low cost.

- Quest Locations werden manchmal nur schlecht angezeigt. Immer genau dem Dialog zuhören, da ihr teilweise keine weitere Infos erhaltet.

C'est charmant et captivant, et c'était sûrement intéressant à jouer à sa sortie, mais en 2025 les problèmes de compatibilité manette, les bugs de quêtes et son côté labyrinthique sans guère d'indices, ont eu raison de ma détermination après de 6h de jeu de même. This game is tough to recommend due to numerous technical issues, bugs and "jank" feeling to pretty much every gameplay aspect. If you have high tolerance for this sort of thing, I'd say the game is at least worth trying, for its story and decent art direction. It is a semi-open world story-driven action RPG set in fantasy version of Venice (and some surrounding areas). I've completed the main story and some of the side quests in around 13 hours, you could probably get about 20h of content if you take your time with exploration and try to complete all side quests before finishing the story.

TIP: Start new game then go to My Documents, find game folder and open settings-user.ini file, there you can disable Vsync, change FoV etc. Also avoid alt-tabbing, it crashed the game 90% of the time on my PC.

I remember playing this as a kid because it was on some disk in one of those gaming magazines my dad bought. Every now and then i'd remember little details about some game i used to play where you played a female protagonist and you'd fight with hammers, spears and such. Couldn't remember the name of course so i acually searched for all those old ass magazines which we still had because my family throws nothing away and im glad they didn't in this case cause i acually found it. There is something kind of magical about playing games from your childhood. What i've noticed is that often times they are nothing like i remembered. In this case as a kid i didn't notice all the jank and the overall unpolished nature of this game probably because my peabrain just liked hitting dudes with hammers... then got stuck on some quest and played Battlefront or need for speed for the one billionth time. Now that you know my life story i can talk about the game. Its kinda ass.. but kind of in a good way. Yeah its old and glitchy.. kinda ugly and the combat is braindead. Buuuut it does have some charm to it. Somehow it kept me going. I just wanted to where the game would take you where it would go and some aspects of it arent garbage. The premise while not exactly original does give you some motivation to keep going but mostly you just wanna see what goofy ♥♥♥♥ happens next. Its not the best game if you want ''fun bad'' but it does have some of that. Its honestly hard to even pinpoint what i liked about this game. But it does have a bit of that random ass old ass game magic. Maybe its the ugly NPCs... the run down world or the sometimes acually interesting relics and side quests or dialogues. Its not like the game is some kind of super cool hidden gem like Vampire the masquerade bloodlines or something and yet it kinda feels like that sometimes. All i can say is there is some odd charm to this game and while its far from one of the greats its kinda enjoyabe.. at least a little... or maybe its pure nostalgia. Anyway im like 99% sure no one will ever read all this ♥♥♥♥ and i mostly write reviews to remind myself of what i thought of a game i played. Time to stop talking to myself and take my meds.

Вообще говоря, это первая проба пера студии "Deck13" в action-жанре, и это чувствуется. Да, дальше будет оригинальная "Lords of the Fallen", замечательная "The Surge" и убойный "Atlas Fallen", но пока что на дворе 2009-й год, и портфолио "Deck13" состоит в основном из point-n-click квестов. В частности, влияние трилогии "Ankh" очень заметно и в дизайне персонажей, и в графическом исполнении, и в построении квестов. Подобное наследие несет в себе некоторые плюсы, но в целом игра по всем параметрам выглядит и ощущается устаревшей, причем устаревшей даже по меркам конца нулевых. А ведь хочется напомнить, что той же осенью ушел на золото великолепный "Assassin's Creed 2", и нам как бы есть с чем сравнивать. В сухом остатке получился типичный проходняк, который на текущий день представляет исключительно исследовательский интерес.

+Классные анимации главной героини
+Хорошая музыка
+Красивая главная героиня
+Длительность прохождения, не часто и щас встретишь игры более чем на 10 часов
+Взлом замков. Хорошая задумка которая хорошо тренирует память
+Красивая Венеция
Коротко о минусах:
-Багов очень много, за такое время можно было и пофиксить
-Графика хоть и приятна глазу, но в 2009 году можно было и получше сделать
-Взламывать сундуки со временем надоедает + лута там обычно нормального нету, я перестал их взламывать ближе к середине игры
-Плохие анимации всего остального, моделька часто при входе в здание оказывается в двери. Несколько раз при сюжетных разговорах экран был повёрнут в другую сторону от собеседника
-Утомительное перемещения по карте, благо к середине игры появляется зелье на скорость которое сильно помогает
Небольшой итог:
Хорошая игра плюсов в ней явно больше минусов. Думаю что играя в неё время было потрачено не зря. Игра явно вышла не в то время, думаю выйдя она на года 2 раньше обрела бы большую популярность.
С игрой ознакомиться точно стоит!

Updated review. After spending a few hours downloading the 4GB patch to eliminate the memory leak issue, tinkering with ini settings, setting the game to compatibility mode, disabling a variety of different settings and making various other changes to try to improve the FPS stability issue and the random CTD within the first 10 minutes of gameplay, all to no avail, I give up. The voice acting seems solid, the game appears to be an interesting mix of Fable and an open world game, which I was really interested in, but the stability issues of this game simply make it unplayable and therefore not something I can recommend.

I normally love the middle of the road RPG gems that get middling reviews, as they are often quite good once patches go live, but in this case the reviews accurately reflect the product. I have come to love Deck13 after playing the Surge and really looked forward to checking this game out as well, as I gave up on it due to the stability issues at launch when it came out on console, but unless they update the game properly, this is abandonware and deserves the appropriate treatment. Thumb down.

The game is older so the graphics won't attract younger players unless they want more retro type graphics. That being said, it has a solid story (sappy but great), the game mechanics give you some room to experiment with different tactics using your sword and different spells. The over all experience reminded me the first Witcher game which is rich is stories. There's side quests with stories that let you delve further into the world of Venetica so it has a open world format even though there isn't countless quests. Overall I think it's a fantastic game.

I cannot believe how Gothic 2 this is. this is a super amazing Euro-RPG, it's only a matter of time until your gog-loving youtubers dish out a video on Venetica. there's a lot to Love. no waypoints, just good old journal hint fun. i like the dark and cartoonish world of Venice they managed to produce here, and the characters match this building sillyserious aura. i really have no complaints, save for a few aspects of its dated nature.

crashes are present but not exactly noteworthy, F5 to quicksave and F9 to quickload, most any bug can be fixed with trial and error or just quitting out for a second. if you're used to playing older games on modern hardware, this was a cakewalk playing vanilla no patches. i've only had two bugs in 8hrs, one was a crash and the other was just needing to reset the game (visuals went dark), seriously a nonissue. don't let your fear of bugs keep you from this fun!

An amazing hidden gem, its bit rough around the edges, but overall this game is a solid 7.5/10 for its time.
An okay-ish story, that does seem a bit rushed in the last chapter(Palace) but very fun gameplay with a mix of melee and magic combat, though keep in mind some spells are useless and dont really work. The melee combat is great though, swords and hammers being the most fun weapons to use. The game overall is short, and I did take my time with it, did majority, if not all the side quests and it was a great experience that took me 16 hours to beat.
I did see some people mention that it has a slow start but I couldn't disagree more, you are pretty much instantly thrown into combat with a very short intro and then you are set off onto the main quest and it managed to hold my attention to the very end which is a massive plus, since with 99% of newer games I lose interest very quickly especially if the game has a slow start, but with Venetica, it held my attention from start to finish, its an easy story to follow and it is quite predictable but still fun. It would've benefited from a bit more dev time and maybe one more chapter, plus it would've been great if you could continue playing it after you completed it.

Now there are bugs, its an old game and most bugs I've encountered are combat related, like for example if you are not on the same elevation as the enemies spells dont hit, sometimes even if you are on the same elevation it can happen that spells don't hit/do damage. It can be annoying but since the game isn't that hard anyways it doesn't really matter too much.

Graphics are holding up well, it's not a game that tried to go for a realistic look, but it's more of a cartoony look similar to Fable and because of that it's still very pleasant to look at. I've played it on Linux via Proton with no issues at all. If the game went for a more realistic look it would've looked far worse today, so its great that they went with more stylized graphics.

Overall a 7.5/10, its a fun and short RPG and you can get its often on sale for 0.99 so for that price its well worth it

Would love to see a remake of it in sort of a Witcher 3 style, making the story more serious, fleshing out characters and gameplay, but while still keeping that old rpg(even mmorpg-ish) style of gameplay

If you can accept the fact that the save button needs to be your best friend in order to play this game then you're in for a treat. This is one of the best RPGs I've ever played, precisely because it isn't too bloated with stuff. Doing just about everything took me 25 hours and it never felt like I was doing fetch quests. It's worth the playthrough for the style and art direction alone. If you're German you'll love it even more because as a German production it has all the hallmark voice cast that you remember from that time and it feels so nostalgic. Way better than I expected, definitely an underrated gem.

game fcking sucks! the combat system is bugged as fck, dodging is fckin delayed that every time i press dodge the char fkcin strafe instead of rolling, especially during intense fights. The first chapter boss fight is also bugged as fck, game fckin crashed whenever I got the 3rd tentacles. Devs should fckin giving players money for introducing such a fckin poor quality game

Убогое гуано. Боевая система немного цепляет, но в остальном 3 основных минуса уродуют этот "продукт":
1. Отвратительная оптимизация - игра вылетает каждые 5 минут, и без бубна ее не пройти.
2. Убогий сюжет - он тут прямо двухбитный и суперклишированный.
3. Омерзительная проработка игрового мира - я так понимаю, что разрабы хотели сделать игру фэнтэзи, но каким-то боком приплели к Венеции. В итоге, в игре с реальным миром связано только буквально 3 слова - Венеция, дож и Арсенал. Все остальное какой-то трэшовый вымысел - какие-то африканские мумбы-юмбы, несуществующие животные, ни одного итальянского имени в игре про Венецию...

Gute Grafik und Steuerung Spielt sich fast wie Risen 1+2 ,Gothic,Dark Alliance. Die Quest sind Manchmal auf der Karte Schlecht angezeigt. Läuft Problemlos mit Controller. Ich kann es Empfehlen.jeder der Abenteuer Liebt. Sie sieht auch Schnuckelig in Rüstung aus.

นานทีจะได้เล่นเกม RPG สเกลใหญ่ๆซักทีนึง เราจะได้เล่นเป็นนางเอกที่จะต้องบุกไปเมืองเวนิซเพื่อหยุดยั้งตัวร้ายที่วางแผนจะทำลายโลกให้สิ้นซาก จริงๆมันก็มีหลายเหตุผลแหละ เพราะเกมจะมีตัวเลือกให้ตอบเรื่อยๆว่า เราบุกมากำจัดตัวร้ายเพราะอะไร เพื่อความสงบสุขของบ้านเมือง? หรือเพื่อแก้แค้นให้แฟนตัวเองที่ถูกฝั่งตัวร้ายฆ่าตาย? เพราะคำตอบเหล่านี้จะส่งผลกับตอนจบของเกม ก็เป็นเกมเก็บเลเวล ทำเควสต์ ฆ่าบอสทั่วไป แต่ด้วยความที่นางเอกเป็นลูกสาวของเทพแห่งความตาย จึงสามารถตายแล้วฟื้นขึ้นมาสู้ใหม่ได้จนกว่าเกจสีม่วงจะหมดหลอด เพียงแต่ไม่ได้มีพลังมากพอที่จะสามารถเข้าถึงบอสใหญ่ได้ เพราะร่างทรงยังไม่แกร่งกล้าพอ ต้องรอให้เรามีทักษะคุยกับวิญญาณกับทำลายบาเรียซะก่อน ซึ่งจะอยู่ในช่วงท้ายเกม (ตอนแรกเราจะมองเห็นแค่ดวงวิญญาณเล็กๆเท่านั้น) -- เวนิซในเกมก็เป็นเมืองแห่งการค้าเมืองใหญ่ ก็พอมีคนดีอยู่บ้าง แต่คนเลวจะเยอะหน่อย ตอนกลางคืนโจรนี่เต็มเมืองเลย ทหารก็ก่ออาชญากรรมซะเอง ผู้นำก็เห็นแก่ได้ ก็ถือเป็นเมืองที่เสื่อมโทรมเพราะคนพวกนี้ ในเกม นางเอกจะถือดาบ Moonblade เอาไว้สู้กับปีศาจ ถ้าใช้ดาบธรรมดา พวกนี้จะตายแล้วฟื้น แต่ข้อดีคือพอกำจัดเสร็จ เกจสีม่วงก็จะเพิ่มขึ้น ทำให้ตายแล้วฟื้นขึ้นมาใหม่ได้เรื่อยๆจนกว่าเกจจะหมด บอสในเกมจะสู้ทั้งหมดสองรอบ ก็ลูกสมุนตัวร้ายนั่นแหละ พอกำจัดเสร็จเราจะต้องไปสู้ต่อในโลกวิญญาณ ในรูปร่างของสัตว์ประหลาด ซึ่งเอาจริงๆก็สู้ไม่ค่อยยากเท่าไหร่ การโจมตีกับศัตรูเกมนี้ ส่วนใหญ่ผมจะฟัน 2 ทีแล้วถอยหลัง เพราะ AI ค่อนข้างที่จะเอื้อผู้เล่นอยู่พอสมควร ไม่งั้นก็ฟันตามเสียงดาบ กดตามจังหวะเสียงเช้ง ก็จะได้คอมโบที่รุนแรง เลือดลดเยอะอยู่ -- 36 ชั่วโมงนี่ถือว่ายาวพอสำหรับเกม 3D RPG มั้ยนิ?

Бюджетный дарк соулс 1, в котором сложности меньше. И всё это конечно же как в Германии принято с референсами к готике в виде выбора гильдии. Однако игра, несмотря на многие огрехи из-за своей бюджетности, вполне себе отлично играется. Интересный многообразный геймплей с довольно хорошим управлением, несмотря на то что чувствуется, что это порт с консолей. Заклинания довольно прикольные, а оружием, которое нам по сути навязано сюжетом, можно в теории пройти всю игру. Но что мне нравится больше всего, так это эстетика игры и работа геймдизайнеров, которая с одной стороны ну не вызывает вау-эффекта, пока ты не подумаешь чуть и не придешь к выводу - ох, блен, а ведь героиня не классическая Мэри Сью, которая всё умеет, а это реально боевая женщина, которая компенсирует свои чисто биологические слабости и неумение что либо делать с помощью тренировок, то есть РПГ-прокачки, и с помощью мира мертвых, откуда призраки помогают ей замки вскрывать, потому что она очевидно не умеет, загадки разгадывать, находить и передавать давно утерянные предметы, а также делятся своими силами. То есть героиня не просто очень красивая девушка, а героиня очень красивая, но она и заслуживает быть избранной не только по праву рождения, но и по своим делам. И в целом игра пытается делать акцент на том, что она делала в прошлом, и время от времени другие персонажи припоминают тебе, что ты делал в прошлом. Хотя полноценно нам и не покажут концовку, в которой рассказывалось бы о последствиях своих решений, но было время от времени приятно увидеть, когда упомянут как ты корабль по квесту взорвал, как ты бандитов по всему городу лупишь, а потом их атаманша тебя за это спрашивает и прочее подобное.

Я вообще не жалею о потраченном времени. Я понимаю, почему игру не так часто вспоминают, игра ну слишком иногда бюджетная, от чего возникают некоторые странные моменты. Но интересная концепция игры и ее реализация, шикарная главная героиня которая реально боевая няшка, моментами даже хороший сюжет с грамотно расставленными акцентами - ну это меня подкупило при прохождении. Один из шедевров умершего АА класса игр. Сейчас то либо инди, либо блокбастер делают, и те и другие на 50 часов, но хочется иногда просто крепкой игры которая не пытается быть всем.

Masalsı hikayesi ve anlatımıyla keyifli ama save alma konusunda sıkıntıları olan bir oyun. Oyuna başladıktan hemen sonra ilk iş save alınıyor mu kontrol edip öyle oynamaya devam etmenizi öneririm, böyle bir sorunla karşılaşacağımı düşünmediğim için 2 saat oynadıktan sonra fark ettim :D. Sorunu çözersem belki baştan başlarım.

Bardzo przyjemna gierka z ciekawą historią oraz bardzo ładną grafiką. Delikatnie pobugowana z paroma mankamentami, ale są one do zniesienia i nie utrudniają zbytnio rozgrywki. Mimika postaci i cały świat dookoła wręcz zachęcają do podziwiania. Natomiast o Scarlett nie ma co rozpisywać się dużo, raczej każdy osobiście polubi ją :D Ja polecam każdemu, sam będę miło do niej wracał myślami i wspominał wspólne przygody :)

Venetica - Gold Edition is definitely showing its age. The combat is clunky, the graphics are super dated, and there are some bugs that can be frustrating. That said, there’s something kind of charming about it. The setting, with its fantasy take on Renaissance Venice, is unique, and the story has an interesting premise.

If you played it back in the day, it’s worth revisiting for the nostalgia alone. But if you’re new to it and used to modern RPGs, you might find it pretty rough around the edges.

Моя первая игра у немецкой студии Deck13. Несмотря на минорные баги* или даже такой, который при сворачивании и обратно требовал перезапуска системы, мне было исключительно интересно играть. Баги всегда оказывались не критичными для прохождения, а с автосохранениями между локациями потеря прогресса минимальна; с ними, наоборот, было ещё интереснее, так как только больше создавалась атмосфера тех лет с типичной баг-составляющей. И каждый успешно выполненный квест без застревания, ошибок или soft-lock'ов завершить было вдвойне приятно.

*[spoiler]Есть непроходимый баг с диалогом, когда кузен главной героини находится в штаб-квартире Масок. Все попытки дослушать кузена до конца заканчиваются вылетом игры. На прохождение по итогу не повлияло. Может, это, как и парочка других, ошибка, обусловленная техническим несовершенством русской локализации.[/spoiler]

Из достоинств выделю интересный игровой процесс, приятный визуал, атмосферу и в некоторой, но значимой для меня, степени непредсказуемость сюжетного развития.
Ничего против сказать не могу, потому что ни один баг или отсутствие чего-либо нисколько не испортили впечатления; игру делали с душой и это видно, это чувствуется.

С русской озвучкой атмосфера множится на 100. Позволю себе сравнить это с тем, как на бутерброд с маслом сверху выкладывается красная рыбка или красная икра, что в своём сочетании приводит к раскрытию запредельного гастрономического удовольствия.

Спасибо за доставленное удовольствие команде Deck13 и их сделанному с душой и доведённому до конца приключению Venetica!

Venetica propose des graphismes intéressants pour l'année, les environnements sont variés et soignés, ils nous offrent de très beaux panoramas. Les villes, les villages et les paysages nous transportent dans un univers à l'atmosphère mystique et méditerranéenne dans le lore du jeu. Certes, certains détails techniques comme les textures ou les animations ont vieilli, mais l'esthétique globale reste immersive et agréable. L'ambiance visuelle, teintée de mystère et de magie, compense largement les limitations techniques.
Les musiques accompagnent parfaitement l'aventure. Les thèmes sont doux et envoûtants, renforçant l'immersion dans cet univers unique. Les effets sonores et les dialogues, bien qu’imparfaits par moments, contribuent à poser une ambiance convaincante. Certains doublages manquent un peu de naturel, ils participent néanmoins à donner de la personnalité aux personnages et au monde.

Le gameplay de Venetica est simple à prendre en main et propose un mélange intéressant entre action et RPG. Les combats, bien qu’un peu rigides, offrent de la variété avec différents types d’armes, des compétences spéciales, et l’utilisation de pouvoirs divers. Les quêtes sont suffisamment diversifiées pour maintenir l’intérêt, et le jeu laisse une belle marge de liberté pour explorer et progresser à votre rythme. Attention cependant à une caméra parfois capricieuse et quelques bugs qui peuvent gêner l’expérience.
L’histoire, le lore est captivant et nous plonge dans une intrigue pleine de mystères. Incarnant une héroïne charismatique, vous êtes entraîné dans une quête personnelle et épique pour embrasser votre destin et affronter les forces des ténèbres. Les personnages secondaires enrichissent l’expérience, et les dialogues ainsi que les journaux trouvés dans le jeu ajoutent une belle profondeur narrative.

La durée de vie est tout à fait correcte : comptez 20 h pour l’histoire principale, et jusqu’à 30 heures si vous prenez le temps d’explorer chaque recoin, de relever les défis annexes et de profiter pleinement de l’univers.
Malgré ses défauts techniques et quelques mécaniques datées, Venetica est un bon jeu qui mérite l’attention des amateurs du genre. Son charme unique, son histoire captivante et ses idées originales en font une expérience à découvrir.

Относительно интересное поделие Deck 13, но какое же оно кривое что графически, что игро механически. По факту не самое худшее простенькое приключение, с максимально глупой подачей. Графика к сожалению выела мне глаза и дальше 2 часов геймплея я пока играть не решился

Ive got my moneys worth of fun out of this game. sadly i had to quit in the Arsenal district where traversing the map gets very difficult. i wish i had the patience for it because it is a fun game. i guess i made it about half way through the game before needing to quit :(
