Pros: pre-game launcher, borderless windowed mode is default, vertical sync can be disabled, 1080p 144Hz is default, “training” mode tutorial available, “tab” activates a map overlay, nice jungle-like soundtrack, no fall damage, cheat codes & menu available ( https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=578121273 )
Cons: horrible platforming sections, only 16x save slots (you have to find the save points in the middle of the map, no menu or quick save hotkeys), teleporting enemy spawns, low ammo capacity, movement controls & map design is clunky
Overall, a classic first-person shooter designed to run on modern systems. The level design is disorienting, & the platforming sections are unforgiving. I bought this game on a sale, & I have spent 2 hours as of the writing of this review.
Turok is a hit or miss

What can be said of Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, a game that originally released in 1997 (for the Nintendo 64 no less), that hasn't been said numerous times already?
Not much, so I'll refrain from repeating the most obvious accolades that adorn this game.
For those of you who are just discovering Turok for the first time, welcome, this is without a doubt the best way to experience this incredible title. For those of you who first stepped into the Lost Land using a funky, single analog stick and c-buttons for movement, welcome to a refreshingly smooth and silky, high definition version of Acclaim / Iguana's N64 debut title!
It cannot be overstated how good this game feels with true mouse & keyboard controls. It almost feels like cheating when you are swiftly moving through the corridors of the Campaigner's mothership, taking out robots, giant mechs, aliens, and sewer monsters like John Wick on steroids. And, at the same time, the modified gamepad support also feels amazing and quite fitting for a frustration-free, nostalgic trip back to the days of the original game.
This is important too, because Turok is just as much a platformer as it is an FPS. Tight jumps, thin ledges, ladders, beams, and vine-covered walls make up a large portion of the game. Indeed, the thing that set Turok apart when it released was this magic combination of action platforming done from the first-person perspective - sorry Thief and Metroid Prime, Turok beat you to the punch.
Aside from the wonderful control, the entire game has been rebuilt in widescreen with much higher resolution graphics. Now, remember, this is a game that is three decades old, so a remake this is not. However, that is precisely what makes it so special.
All of the fun cheats and exploits are still present, as is the awesome music and ambient sound effects which have undergone digital improvements to make them even clearer. You will also find a number of options that allow you to adjust the game to your preferred playstyle (some of these options have caused a bit of a rift in the Turok community, but I always say the more the merrier as long as the original experience remains intact.)
Anyway, for me, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter remains my favorite of the original trilogy (Tal'Set FTW!). Nightdive Studios has delivered a beautiful package full of TLC and respect for the original game. I am so happy that a new generation of gamers gets to experience this classic title on modern hardware. It may not look like Doom the Dark Ages, but Turok is a blast to play. And isn't that why we love video games? To have fun?
Highly recommended to old and new fans alike!

Для своего времени, может, это было круто, но сейчас в глаза бросается херовый левел дизайн, по уровням приходится ходить по 10 раз в поисках очередного ключа, чтобы выйти на следующий уровень. В остальном - обычный шутер, только довольно быстрый.

恐竜、銃、パルクール、男の子が好きなもの全部詰まってる感じのゲームで、ということは（？）女の子も大好きなはず。人類皆やるべき、とまで言いたくなる面白さというか、おもちゃとしての普遍性に序盤はワクワク、粗いポリゴンとかももはや味で、こんなに楽しいゲームある？ って思った。主人公がバイクみたいに爆速なのもいい。爽快そのもの。
が、楽しいだけでは済まされないのが人生で。シークレット見つけて当然のバランス、FPSなのにマリオ並みに細かいジャンプアクションを要求されるステージ、しかも残機制で落下は容赦無く一撃死扱い、で、こんな調整なのに大半の敵は無限リスポーン。大半の弾はリスポーンなし。つまり、シークレット探してだらだらやってれば弾切れになる。シークレット探してあちこち見て回ってると落下死で残機が尽きる。序盤の爽快感も、早くも3ステージ目ぐらいになると苦行味が勝ち始める。このリズム、まさに人生といったところか。
Turokは人生。だとしたら途中で投げ出した自分は、人生の重荷に耐えきれなかったのか。素晴らしいリマスターで、動きもヌルヌル、キーマウでの操作も快適、そんな至れり尽くせりでも投げ出した。どんなに快適でも人生は人生。TurokはTurok。ボスをゴリ押しで倒し、残機と体力がほぼ尽きた状態のセーブデータが出来上がった時、この重荷に耐えていかれないと思った。それもまた人生であり、それもまた（それこそが）Turokなのだろう。渋味がわからない人は、門の手前で立ち去るのが身のためだ。人生の苦楽を味わい尽くしたものだけのために、この時空戦士の物語は門を開くのである。
最近のアップデートで敵のリスポーンをOFFにできるようになったとか。もう一度この「重荷」に身を投じる、潮時は今なのかもしれない。
It was already great on N64 but PC controls are 1000x better. Couldn't beat it on N64 but had no trouble on PC. Glad they didn't cheese it with save states too. Keeps the integrity of it

The OG Nintendo 64 dinosaur boomer shooter TUROK is lovingly remastered in Nightdive's KEX engine, and it rules. Originally releasing only one year following 1996's Quake, TUROK is a game absolutely and 100% rooted in 1990's aesthetics, mechanics, and attitude. Gameplay is fast and ridiculous; you will take on bad guys, dinosaurs and aliens at a breakneck pace with a very amusing 14 weapon arsenal.
Level design is fun and I do like it overall, but can become a little tedious, long, and samey-looking. If you are new to boomer shooter design, these levels could feel too annoying. There is a fair amount of platforming that can occasionally get frustratingly difficult, but is mostly done very well and adds plenty of tension and fun to traversing TUROK's world.
TUROK looks, sounds and plays extremely well. This game is silly and fun.
10/10 it has dinosaurs
For me there is nothing to dislike about this game. It is a Legendary Classic.

A fairly good game if you don't expect too much or have played this one on N64.

Turok is a wonderful game, it's just fun and entertaining. Made by people who really cared about their craft and about making something that people would enjoy.
This game has actually aged quite nicely. The movement and combat feels pretty good. The level design is a weakpoint, a lot of the levels kind of look the same and they're all pretty maze-like, but still a good amount of fun if you like boomer shooters.
