If youre in to text based wrestling simulators, this one is up there with the best. TCW vs SWF. Loaded with lore and feels like a lived in universe
They're not on Steam, but go find the newer versions of this game and buy them. 100% worth it and have way more depth.
Takes a little bit to get used to the UI but when it clicks it really clicks. I recommend downloading a real world mod which is easy to install.

TEW 2013 - the best wrestlingshow-booking-simulation of all time.
Incredibly captivating, deep, complex, completely moddable and with many real fan database mods from the Internet, you can also book old classics from the WWF Attitude Era, WCW or WWE Ruthless Aggression Era or create your own creations.
It's unbelievable how many possibilities this game offers and how much you can customize without it ever really getting boring. Changing gimmicks of existing wrestlers, no problem.
The only thing I miss about Total Extreme Wrestling is proper multiplayer
via LAN or Internet. Something that, in my opinion, this series would do very well if you want to book different leagues or shows with several people or friends.
Conclusion:
Total Extreme Wrestling 2013 is the last part that was released on Steam (!) and also the best that you can generally buy here. I no longer like the presentation of the 2016 and 2020 successors so much, although that is a matter of taste.
Anyone who has always wanted to make John Cena a heel or want the WCW and WWF's Monday Night Wars to end differently and like very in-depth wrestling booking should definitely give this title a try.

Unglaublich fesselnd, tiefgründig, komplex, komplett moddbar und mit vielen realen Fan-Datenbank-Mods aus dem Internet kann man auch alte Klassiker von der WWF Attitude Era, WCW oder WWE Ruthless Aggression Era booken oder eigene Kreationen erstellen.
Es ist unglaublich was für eine Vielzahl an Möglichkeiten dieses Spiel bietet und wieviel man anpassen kann, ohne das es wirklich je langweilig wird. Gimmicks von vorhandenen Wrestlern verändern, kein Problem.
Das einzige was ich bei Total Extreme Wrestling vermisse, ist ein ordentlicher Multiplayer
über LAN oder Internet. Etwas was diese Reihe meiner Meinung nach sehr gut tun würde, wenn man mit mehreren Leuten oder Freunden verschiedene Ligen bzw. Shows booken will.

Total Extreme Wrestling 2013 ist der letzte Teil der auf Steam(!) erschienen ist und auch der beste den man hier generell kaufen kann. Die Nachfolger 2016 und 2020 gefallen mir von der Aufmachung dann nicht mehr so sehr, wobei das Geschmackssache ist.
Wer John Cena schon immer mal zum Heel machen wollte oder die Monday Night Wars von WCW und WWF anders ausgehen lassen wollte und sehr tiefgründiges Wrestlingbooking mag, sollte definitiv diesen Titel mal ausprobiert haben.

I played this years ago when it first came out, and racked up thousands of hours. I played the 2016 version for years and fell out of love with the 2020 version. Playing this game I feel it really hasn't missed a beat and I can lose so much time to it.

im 50/50 on this. it has a lot of depth, but its also really tedious with not a lot of choice in how simple you might want it to be. if you loved gm mode in wwe this is a stark contrast for what it wants and i do miss the simple joy of that game.
It has potentially (?) all of the depth of a football manager but lacks the finesse, lacks the freedom to play it more simply and hand over more control and still do what you want to do and it has a much steeper learning curve. seen a football match? you can play football manager, know a lot of the ins and outs of wrestling? this is still a difficult task to learn
It would be real cool if the game had more tooltips, a better UI and was easier to control without losing the depth or complexity (or even difficulty) it still gets a thumbs up because of its level of depth and how much you actually can do, it remains a pretty liveable world. the same thing i love about football manager

It's just like GM Mode from SVR 2006 but way better, you can change names, moves, and gimmicks. You can also edit your mods and add modern day gimmicks like "Trump Supporter", "Anti-Masker", "Anti-Vaxxer", hell...You wanna add "A Case Of A Broken Heart" as a serious injury anyone can get during gameplay, you can with this game!

This game is a must for any fan of management games or wrestling. It's a game where you book shows, set up storylines and run a wrestling business with all the stuff you will see on VICE's Dark side of the Ring.
You must strive for the perfect show. You must maintain a steady knowledge of what product of wrestling you are selling, manage a locker room of all types of personalities and maintain yourself financially. Create storylines with some of your most popular stars to increase your brand's exposure, develop expectations for any signing of any level of experience in the business from the lowly wrestling trainee to the 2 more matches til retirement veteran. Make sure that you hire road agents ( wrestling assistant coaches) with adequate knowledge of how to put a match together, make sure that your broadcast crew works well together among other things as well.
To increase the game's potential download the thousands of real life mods and book shows that happened in real life different. Want Roddy Rowdy Piper to be 12 time WWE champion... you can do it. Want to bring down the WWF as Jim Crockett... you can do it.

If you are still looking for a fun booking game (Although 2020 should be out soon). Then this is it, if you don't want to pay like 40$ for 2016, both are great however. TEW 2013 is by far one of the best booking games out there.

This game is a blast. I've always been in to manager/sim kind of games and the amount of detail in this game is absolutely crazy. It is really fun to learn and create new things although it is also pretty difficult.
I've been a wrestling fan since I was a kid and I've always wanted to figure out what it's like to run the business outside of the ring. I played the GM mode in the classic SDvR series until it was removed and have been craving something that gives me that feeling again. This, unfortunately, isn't it. At least for me. I find it too bogged down with too many statistics and figures, some of which I still don't know how to apply in-game. It takes forever to even remotely get close to a decent match. Worst of all, my game files would become corrupted and unplayable at random points after closing out of them. I was required to create multiple copies of my save files to make sure I could return to my game. Glad it exists and it got me interested enough to keep trying to play, but too many technical issues and overly complicated gameplay to maintain that interest past a couple of hours. I can only restart my game so many times.

The TEW series is addictive if you are a fan of the backend creative side of wrestling...or math. The amount of hours I've logged on here doesnt do the game justice, as I bought tew2016 a month after this. With the new one coming out in April please, please, please give this a try!

First of all, this is not a game for everyone and in order to like the game, you have to like the wrestling scene.
This is not just a wrestling game were you manage wrestlers just like the companies are presented to us, but how they work on the inside. You script matches, feuds storylines etc, and you see how good or bad you do on managing a company that has to do with wrestling.
Now why would you want this game? Simple. If you have played dwarf fortress, rimworld or other sandbox management game that means that you like chaos and randomness. This game is exactly that. You do matches and storylines and see how the world reacts to your choices and how the wrestlers as your workers in your company behave with each other and what problems are presented to you.
So. I recommend this game only to people that are huge fans of wrestling business and wants to see how would they do if they had the chance to manage the company, but if you are just looking for a management game in general, I think there's a little to no change that you will like the game
So, I am a die hard fan of pro wrestling. And from EWR to TEW, Adam Ryland deserves a bunch of credit for taking a passion for so many and turning it into a text-based masterpiece. If I could say, mods are a bit hard to install for someone new to computers, some people who play this game want to experience real wrestling. That is surely possible if you have the computer knowledge and tools readily available to you for these mods to be installed. Honestly, this game is a perfectly accessible booking sim. Now, it does NOT hold your hand. If something doesn't work, the game will make that very clear to you in big bold lettering. How to fix it? Well, that's all up to you. Either way, TEW 2013 is a main event entry into a hall of fame series. Thanks to everyone who is in this community!
Easily the best Wrestling manager on Steam currently. Along with the amazing modding community, the default database of original wrestlers kept me busy for over 200 hours, without feeding my need to book Hulk Hogan vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin once a week for all of 1999.
If you're looking for an in-ring sim, this isn't for you. If you're looking for all the GOOD things that made wrestling games great, this is definitely for you.

Ce jeu est unique. Difficile d'en dire du négatif vu sa profondeur. La difficulté initiale dépend de la grosseur de la fédération choisie, mieux vaut commencer petit. Total Extreme Wrestling 2013 is a great game. It allows players to control and book real wrestling events. The game has is very in-depth, with players controlling different elements such as the quality of merchandise, building their own venue, making new titles and hiring and firing different wrestlers and workers.

Overall the game is very detailed but can be a little slow during loading screens. It may take players a while to understand and develop their skills but it is well worth the wait!

I wanted a wrestling game where I could do more of the owner/manager role that the Smackdown vs Raw mode gave in the SVR games on PS2 and not so much the wrestling, cause I royally suck lol!
This game gives exactly that. You can download facepacks, title belts, promotionis, premade scenarios, etc off the company's forums to get the modern rosters and companies. You can use the game's made up roster and companies. Or you can go full custom and make all the rosters, promotions, titles, tv companies, etc; yourself! Pretty awesome. I actually had one where I took modern wrestlers into my company and gave them all "Alternate Egos" (aka Gimmicks) as Pokemon and had them battle for badges instead of titles lol. I would have a randomizer select a Pokemon for each person so I had people like Adam Copeland (Edge from WWE) as Starmie and changed his picture to the pokemon. And I think Chavo Guerrero Jr ended up as Moltres or something? Was a lot of fun and I got a lot of enjoyment out of it! The hours are a wee bit inflated but, most of them are legit.

I feel like I havent played enough of the game yet, as of writing this im at 12 hours, but this game in amzing. It's a great managment game, a great wrestling game, and just great in every way possible. Sure, it can get frustrating, with things you think are going good are actually going crap, and superstars getting upset a lot, but that's life. I LOVE IT. It's definently worth a buy. Also, this is the first of the TEW series of games that i've played, and I don't know how they could make any game of it's sort better. So i recomend it to everyone, especially if you love management games!

I have had this game for almost 2 years, and still play it 10-20 or more hours per week.
I enjoy trying to assemble a good roster and locker room, and trying to find chemistry between wrestlers as oppnents or tag team partners, all while dealing with wrestler egos, injuries, talent raids from other companies, etc...Then the company you are at war with accuses you of being tied to the occult, so you alledge they kill puppies...Which company will people believe? Oh crap, now your Champ is out of action for a year after a major concussion. The fun never ends!
Spent hundreds of hours playing this. Totally worth it but when you try 2016 you just can't go back.

This is a pretty hardcore sport management game. It has it's flaws and doesn't handle everything from the world of pro wrestling equally well. Finances for example or certain wrestling styles work better or worse depending on what kind of company you're in charge of. It is also very time consuming to learn, but speeds up considerably once you know who the people are and how to use them effectively.
If words like "hardcore sports management" appeal to you, maybe give it a shot. Some knowledge of pro wrestling helps, but isn't that important. Afterall, how hard can it be to book a show where guys dive and pretend they're hurt? Yeah, it's just like football, only with more entertaining characters. Allways put your best guys or gals in the main event, and fill the rest with what you hope wont stink or need to experiment with, and you'll be golden (well probably not).
It's a VERY niche game. Success doesn't come easy. It's almost Dwarf Fortress level hard, but can be just as rewarding. DF has elephants, TEW has Fat Viking Luchadors. With silly masks and axes because of course it does...
Hint - Use the fog of war option. Otherwise this becomes a spreadsheet "manager" where all you do is compare numbers.
Recommended, but only if you understand that this is a slow assed, management game where most of the fun is screwing up.

How do I download mods with it on steam, just seems complicated
Wer etwas sucht um mal eben schnell ne Runde seine eigene Wrestling-Liga nach oben zu bringen ist hier definitiv an der falschen Adresse. Das Spiel is eine richtige Hardcore Simulation die schon ordentlich in die Tiefe und daher auch entsprechend zeitfressend is, einmal gestartet sitz ich ansich immer 3-4Std. dran.
Ich spiele TEW dank entsprechender Mods nahe an der Realität, so hab ich ganz zu Anfang als Headbooker der WCW im Jahre 1997 gestartet. Genauso vorhanden sind über Mods natürlich auch alle anderen Ligen (WWF/WWE,ROH,TNA etc.) samt realen Wrestlern, dem sind auch so keinerlei Grenzen gesetzt. Fehlt mal ein Wrestler kann man ihn sich auch selbst erstellen.
Habt ihr euch erstmal für eine Liga entschieden und die Kontrolle übernommen legt ihr auch schon los, vor der ersten Show müsst ihr euch aber erstmal um euren Roster (Wrestler Kader). Hier und da meldet sich ein Wrestler mal bei euch weil ihm etwas nicht passt, da solltet ihr euch dann direkt mal drum kümmern sonst kann es sich auf eure Show auswirken. Seid ihr damit durch könnt ihr euch erstmal mit den TV Sendern auseinander setzen, es kommt schonmal vor dass ihr nach ein paar schlechteren Shows plötzlich ohne dasteht und eure Show dann erstmal "Offair" is. Beim booken seid ihr also immer darauf aus das bestmögliche Rating zu bekommen, Zuschauer wollen aber nicht nur die Matches sehen sondern auch Einzüge, Promos und Backstage Prügeleien. Gute Matches sind anfangs garnicht so leicht hinzubekommen, als kleinen Tipp nur soviel: ein Main Eventer vs. Midcarder is nicht optimal gewählt.
Nun sind wir beim Roster, jeden Wrestler könnt ihr entsprechend Einstufen (Midcarder,Upper Midcarder, Main Eventer etc.). Es ist auch möglich nem Wrestler nen anderen Charakter aufzudrücken, nen Turn zu fordern (Heel/Face) oder sein Gimmick zu ändern. Ab und an schadet es hier auch nicht mal einen Bonus an nen Wrestler auszuschütten. Paralell dazu zieht ihr auch noch eure eigenen Schützlinge hoch die später die alten ablösen, ein Hulk Hogan frisst schließlich zuviel Geld als dass er euch bringen kann.
Wer will kann seine Liga auch in Lager splitten, bspw. Raw und Smackdown - heißt aber auch wieder automatisch mehr Arbeit. Storylines solltet ihr erstellen und entsprechend in euren Shows einplanen, ohne kann eure Liga schlichtweg nicht wachsen. Wöchentliche Shows sind dass eine aber es kommen ja noch die Pay-Per View dazu, immerhin dürft ihr euch da auch zu jeder Zeit nen TV Sender suchen aber auch die Verhandlungen erstrecken sich dann gern mal über eine Woche im Spiel.
Kommen wir aber nun mal zum Kern des Spiels, den Shows selbst. Matche zusammen klicken reicht hier keinesfalls, ihr müsst euch schon etwas mehr einarbeiten und euch Storys im Kopf überlegen. Ich starte meine Shows meist mit einer kleinen Szene, dass kann die Ankunft eines Wrestlers sein oder aber eine Rauferei Backstage. Darauf folgt dann der erste Einzug zum Ring, ab und zu auch gerne mal etwas gesabbel (Catchphrase) bevor der Gegner zum Ring kommen darf. Die Vorgehensweise hyped die Zuschauer und lässt das Match entsprechend etwas besser ausfallen. Fürs Match selbst habt ihr dann auch wieder genügend Einstellungen um es anzupassen, es lohnt sich auch durchaus mal das Risiko und die Intensität etwas hochzuschrauben. Je nach Fähigkeiten eurer Wrestler kann auch durchaus auch mal ein Submission Finish passen, zu lang sollte euer Match aber keinesfalls werden sonst hecheln eure Wrestler durchs Match. Hier kommen die ganzen Stats eurer Wrestler zum Zug, ohne Ausdauer schafft euer Star nur 10Min. Matches mit Mühe und Not.
Perfekt um neue Fehden zu starten sind übrigens reinstürmende Wrestler die den Sieger attakieren, hier und da auch gern mal beim Auszug ausm Ring.
Meist wählt das Spiel für euch automatisch ne Austragungsstätte aus aber gerad bei Pay-Per Views kann es sich richtig lohnen sich selbst darum zu kümmern, Tickets sind bares Geld im Spiel. Nebenher dürft ihr euch auch noch um eure Schützlinge bei Problemen kümmern und Strafen ausüben. Der Väterliche Rat bringt nur irgendwie kaum etwas bei größeren Stars, nützlich wenn ihr jemanden loswerden wollt ohne ihn auszuzahlen ist aber die Möglichkeit des sofortigen Rausschmeißens.
Später im Spiel mit dem entsprechend dicken Konto habt ihr dann auch die Möglichkeit eigene "Entwicklungsligen" zu gründen, die liefern euch ab und an den ein oder anderen guten Wrestler den ihr so nicht auf dem Schirm hattet auf dem Tablett oder ihr könnt eure Wrestler zum aufbauen dorthin schicken. Wem dass auch noch nicht reicht, der kann sich auch gleich darin versuchen die Konkurrenz-Ligen zu attakieren oder gar nen Krieg ausrufen. Ne weitere Möglichkeit wäre auch gleich ne direkte Übernahme, dazu sollte euer Konto dann aber auch aus allen Nähten platzen.
Unabhänging davon was ihr für Regeln im Backstagebereich aufstellt müsst ihr neben dem täglichen Geschäft auch noch ab und an mal nen Drogentest veranlassen. Macht ihr es nicht und die Presse bekommt davon Wind steht ihr sonst dumm da und habt nen Star den womöglich keiner mehr sehen will. Ab und an ist es auch ratsam nen Wrestler mal in den Urlaub zu schicken damit er sich erholt, teilweise melden sich eure Schützlinge auch selbst bei euch.
Das is jetzt quasi ein Bruchteil des Spiels, TEW2013 ist schon recht komplex und erfordet etwas Einarbeitung. Immerhin läuft es auch offline, falls mal das Internet nicht vorhanden ist weil die Telekom auf sich warten lässt.
Für ein Jahr im Spiel mit der WCW als Beispiel hab ich 15-20Std. gebraucht, es fesselt einen aber auch entsprechend und man versucht von Show zu Show besser zu werden. Wer sich wirklich darauf einlässt sich tief in das Spiel einzuarbeiten bekommt hier zig Stunden Spaß geboten, wer nur auf ein nettes und einfaches Spiel für Zwischendurch aus ist wird leider herbe enttäuscht.
Ich habe mir mittlerweile TEW2016 gekauft und hab mein Savegame dort nachgebaut um weiter zu spielen. Mittlerweile mit meiner eigenen Liga im Jahr 2000, die WCW schwächelt mittlerweile und ich übernehme langsam aber stetig die Marktführerschaft.

An in depth management simulation of the wrestling world. It takes you completely backstage of all the things that takes place behind the scenes of the real world. You can pretty much take an idea and put it to paper, but you'll soon find that the idea is either not worth it or it simply worked out for you. You have to understand every wrestler you have with a gimmick, their salary, the scheduling (whether you book them in a show too many times or not enough), learn how to build the momentum of a worker or to completely destroy their entire career, you can customize absolutely everything, and you can fall in love with the in depth micro managing side of things. The best part of this game, is that the modding community is mind blowing, from fantasy creations to updated real world mods. Currently, this modding community is somewhat lackluster since TEW16 has been out (which I own), but sadly it isn't on Steam, which it really should be. I go back and forth, as TEW13 has a better design layout in my opinion, but TEW16 is less buggy and has more features that makes a difference between the two.
If you love management games, spending hours upon hours customizing, and love wrestling, this is the game you NEED.
It's the bees knees for Pro Wrestling nerds. Don't let it's complexity scare you off. Once you grok it, it becomes an obsession. Highly addictive. Not much more to say than that. Well, other than, Gimme Tew 2016 on Steam! :)

Basically, this game is a glorified spreadsheet program. Your goal is to take known variables and combine them with hidden variables to get a rating that is as close to 100 as possible. For example: You create a show. In that show you have to create matches and "angles." Angles are basically the story elements. You pretty much have to just use your imagination. Seriously, all angles actually do is tell the program to compare the stats of two or more workers. In it's simplest form, (wrestler A) * (wrestler b) * (product, or fan expectations) = final rating. Now in reality, there are actually hundreds of variables to consider, but that's pretty much it.
The storylines are whatever you say they are. You can do this because you are role playing. You can type whatever you want into the story field and it makes no difference at all. Ive been playing these for many years and they are fantastic. Some of the most in-depth simulation games to date.
The learning curve is steep though, and this is certainly a niche game. Hardcore simulation fans that like the business end of wreslting will find it amazing, the casual gamer will immediately refund it.
TEW 13 is a very great simulation game, lot of mods available.

finally TEW 2013 has found its way to Steam. I've played this game hundreds of hours before it was released on Steam.
You run a wrestling company as either the owner or head booker and book the shows, sign wrestlers etc.
Booking shows is as easy or as detailed as you want. You can let the AI book your shows or do it all on your own. There are basically no limits, pretty much anything you can think of can be done. You can also create your own Match types or angles.

So yeah, from someone who played every TEW game and also it's predecessor EWR: this game is highly recommended if you're looking for a quality wrestling managing game.
