As "point and click" and sci-fi time travel stories go, this isn't bad. You get to experience the dystopian story from the perspective of a regular Joe. I think it holds together pretty well.
You should play it with mouse and keyboard. If you have a game controller plugged in at all, it will crash the game or slow it down too much to play.
The point-and-click gameplay consists of moving left and right through one-dimensional scenes, and flipping between two versions of the same scene representing different timelines. You point around the screen until you find a hotspot and see its name. You collect objects: one object can be used with one hotspot and then it vanishes. The rest is just finding which timeline contains the objects and exits you need to navigate.
Try it out and have fun with the story. Just make sure to unplug your game controller.

That was really good. Solid point and clicking. A mood contrast between foreboding and desolate. Being a simple but pretty nifty janitor, while grand events circle around, taunting you for simply doing what you can. I don't know, I thought it was good. I was really impressed by how many and interesting responses there were for attempting to use objects, like certain logic was anticipated, and yet it made a lot of sense, I found that enjoyable (I wouldn't go around compulsively trying things just to see what the game says, I'm just saying there was a lot of thought put into the interactions). The music set the atmosphere perfectly, it did the job well and I felt immersed.

Cuando lo jugué de adolescente hace años en el mvl, me apenó un huevo no poder seguir jugando por que pensaba que era de ricos gastar en videojuegos y yo era pobre.

游戏的剧情其实经不起推敲。
过去做的改变未来就一定能体现？蝴蝶效应哪去了···
还有那些人，过去在哪未来原地不动！神奇咯···
怕不是主角离开了他们哪都不去就呆在原地狗带了···

不过毕竟只是个小游戏，也算不错。
主角穿来穿去的，利用过去的改变未来的，然后从未来取得物品在过去用···

剧情流水账：
主角是个说话都不利索的清洁工。

1、现在
1972年，主角乔是一名清洁工，正前往工具间准备打扫卫生时，看到工具间门口贴着法兰克留下的字条让他去见领导希尔先生。
工具间换上灯泡开灯，并取得手套和门禁上右侧电梯。
会见领导得知那个叫错自己名字的领导给主角升职了，但没有加薪，工作量加倍，现在主角负责原先区域外加楼下实验室区域的卫生。至于原来的法兰克已经跳槽了。
主角在楼下实验室用手套装好最后一房间的门禁，在那个房间里看到好多血迹，从边上的实验服上取得手帕回去找领导，但领导办公室打不开只好找领导秘书，领导秘书只给主角一个创口贴。
主角回到实验室用创口贴贴住开关后进入血迹房间内发现一白发老人，对方给了主角太阳能时光机去找另外一个他之后就凉了。
刚出门就被安保用枪指着并交给条子。

2、未来
警局内条子拿出时光机问主角这是啥的时候主角操作机器到了未来，
上楼从吊着的骷髅那获得证据室的门钥匙，从钉着木板的门口获得锤子。
下楼进入证据室从里面的骷髅里获得证件。
上楼用证件进入吊着的骷髅左边的办公室。
搜刮一番从看板上获得纸条密码，抽屉里获得润滑油。
上楼在左侧画像背后使用纸条密码开锁获得别针。
回到证据室使用润滑油和别针开门获得武士刀。
上3楼将锁在门口的绳子用武士刀砍断。
回到1楼从之前吊着的骷髅那获得绳子。
进入3楼办公室，用锤子打碎玻璃出去。
用绳子栓在树枝上下楼。

3、时光机
朝着右边太阳光的位置激活并使用时光机回到过去。
从摩托工具包那获得螺丝刀用其开门，拿起边上的伞。
在警车边上使用时光机前往未来从警车上拿到警棍。
回到未来使用雨伞钩住摩托右边的应急楼梯上楼。
在顶楼收下地毯穿越未来从楼顶的缝隙跳进房间。
在房间里切换回过去获得胶水桶，从灯罩内获得钥匙。
回到过去将胶水倒在摩托边上的绿植上。
开门，未来2楼左边门那获得门把手。
回到房间里揭开幕布开门。
回到过去，砸窗将地毯放在窗上。

4、入口
从窗口边垃圾桶内获得扫把头，在未来获得钩子。
揭开左边地面的地毯露出井盖。
用扫把扫除井盖脏污，用钩子勾开下水道口。
下水道中获得生锈的棍子，传送到过去通电开灯。
进入未来上楼，再传送回过去按开关开门。
未来使用棍子撬开垃圾桶，获得锯子。
吸烟室门口的树边上的骷髅那获得打火机。
回到过去的下水道下水道，用锯子锯开铁栅栏。
在铁栅栏里获得注射器从吸烟室门口吸取易燃松油。
未来的下水道逃离用松油点燃下水道木材。
烟雾将未来吸烟区门口的马蜂熏走。
回到未来的吸烟室进入医院。

5、狮体
前往过去第一个房间进入停车场获取电瓶，开门。
第二个房间门口获取卸胎棒。
回到过去进入第二个房间。
未来的第二个房间洞口跳下获得剪刀。
回到过去看到给主角时空机的狗带的老人。
用剪刀剪断狮体脚上的标签。
未来用电瓶给门口的灯通电，边上的骷髅获得钥匙。
过去门口的桌子获得钥匙。
打开第二个办公室的柜子用编号获取兰伯特的资料。
使用卸胎棒修复救护车的车轮，用车钥匙开车离开。

6、岛
从车上获得千斤顶，灌肠泵，从箱子内获取奖杯。
使用奖杯将淹没的船上的水舀出去。
再将灌肠器从车上吸些油，开船离开。
靠岸后使用千斤顶顶开铁门进去。
在院子地上获取大剪刀。
为了避开鳄鱼用剪刀剪开铁丝网。
进入房车内，从酿酒器边上获取钥匙。
从房车右边的锅里获得钳子（夹子）。
用钥匙打开接线盒通电电屎鱼塘里的鱼。
夹着鱼给鳄鱼吃，鳄鱼就会离开。
从院子右边获得电锯。
回到房车内用酿酒加满电锯，锯开木门。

7、房子
从抽屉里获得火柴。
客厅里右边桌子获得开瓶器，书架上获得书。
用书和火柴点燃壁炉。
揭开壁炉边上的毯子，用开瓶器打开地下室门。
从地下室架子上取得灯泡。
回到锯开的门口将紫光灯泡换掉台灯灯泡。
在灯泡周边就可以使用时空机了。
未来的客厅获得树枝。
未来的地下室获得灭火器。
未来地下室房间用树枝浸泡可燃物。
过去壁炉将树枝点燃。
未来灭火器在客厅装水（不然它里面空的）。
未来房间右边的树木烧掉获得斧头。
过去的地下室用斧头砍开酒瓶右边的门。
过去起居室内获得电灯。
未来起居室右边插口放上电灯获得酒瓶子。
过去的缺1个酒瓶的酒架上放瓶子开门。
在房间内见到现在的兰伯特并交出时空机。
告诉他相关情况后主角也知晓兰伯特的情况。

兰伯特受雇一家阿垦武器公司并制造了时空机。
不过时空机不能回到制造之前，为此考虑前往未来获取高阶武器。并带回一批试验人员，但试验人员语无伦次地说未来一片荒凉，原来未来有致命病毒！
他们那时候没有能力处理大规模病毒但管理层依旧要他们研究并将其作为生化武器兜售。
研究团队以辞职为威胁却被金钱安抚下来，只有兰伯特离开了。
兰伯特花了1年多时间重建技术好让他回到过去防止人类灭绝。

现在主角的出现让兰伯特意识到转机，他希望主角回到1天前的阿垦并删除系统销毁资料，防止今天回来的飞行员带回病毒。

8、阿垦城外
进入夜店，从桌子上获得硬币，未来获得脏电缆。
按开关会被酒保制止，从酒保那得知他可以帮主角调酒，但要1镁刀，主角还缺3枚硬币。
未来门口左侧停车收费点获得硬币x1。
用电缆栓在门口右边的停车收费点进入地铁站台。
过去的地铁站左边公共电话获得第3枚硬币。
未来的地铁站骷髅边上的帽子第4枚硬币。
带着4枚硬币去酒保那点酒。
趁酒保没注意按下开关获得迪斯科球。
传送到未来地铁车厢内将迪斯科球装在扶手上。
从车厢获得螺丝刀并打开看地铁站台左侧通风管道。
未来酒吧骷髅那获取生锈的左轮手枪。
过去的地铁通风管道用手枪打坏散热风扇开关。

此时会看到对面有个人影，被主角的流弹射中！
其实就是未来穿越回来的兰伯特。
他边上还有把没子弹的来福枪。
原来兰伯特是被主角射伤的···

在人影消失的工具箱那获得钳子。
过去用钳子剪断站台连接到车厢的电线。
进入车厢趁维修工查看电焊机时候取得扳手。
未来的通风管道尽头打开通风管道。
过去内部发现就是电梯上方。
使用扳手打开左侧地面的维护通道。
进入大楼（就是主角之前工作的大楼）。

9、阿垦楼里
进入主角开场所在的电梯。
未来进入实验室地面获取4级通行卡。
用通行卡进入过去实验室通道右边第一间房间。
这个房间内有人体冷冻容器和控制台。
其中一个容器内人的眼睛还睁着。
在内部的房间垃圾桶上方获取吃一半的苹果。
实验室需要瞳孔扫描！
前往过去老年兰伯特狗带的房间获取照相机。
前往冷冻容器房间给睁眼的人照相获得瞳孔照。
进入内部房间看到法兰克在翻文件柜！

主角过去对话，法兰克说他找到新机会了，主角在此时恰好差不多时间即将替代法兰克，因此勉强算有权限进到这里，而且还需要进行打扫。

利用照片进入实验室。
刚进去就被科学家叫去处理门口滴水的水管。
而且他在节食，所以只吃苹果，主角需要给他一个苹果让他消消气，顺带解决门口漏水问题。

处理门口的漏水问题，直接把文件柜拉开。
未来的实验室里获得簸箕。

前往未来的电梯用簸箕取一些土放到实验室门口漏水下方，并将苹果核塞进去。

用簸箕获得土的时候在过道突然听到巨响。
似乎是传送装置被使用了。
（未来视角，法兰克用时空机器传送到最遥远的未来）
使用时空机器进入房间发现时空机器不见了！
为此主角考虑摧毁电脑系统就好了。

····这时候···就是主角在领导办公室升职的时间。

将土和苹果核放在漏水处种植起来。
顺带打开边上的灯进行光合作用。
未来获得一颗苹果，将苹果给实验室的科学家。
趁科学家出去吃苹果时取得桌上的蜜汁溶液。

这时候回到实验室主角就发现过去的自己见到白发兰伯特。主角躲起来直到看到过去的主角被带走。

将溶液倒到带血的门口的电脑键盘上导致系统奔溃，顺带门短路自动打开。
进入房间和老年弗兰克对话，原来他没狗带！！

从他口中得知他40年前从主角口中得知详细的细节了。
可惜他以为找了个好的方法避开枪击，结果最终还是被射中了···（开枪的还是主角！要是他知道这个会不会气死···emm···）

不过此时计算机系统奔溃了，酒剩下刚被传送走的飞行员，兰伯特让主角读取系统上的数据将主角的时空传送器设定成和之前的传送器一样的时间后告诉主角该了结这一切了。

和主角对话后他真的狗带了···前往未来···

10、莫比斯之旅
遥远未来的某处···
因为时间设置过于久远···主角时光机坏了。
此时这个世界变成到处都是树木···
从户外太阳能板边上获得铲子。
用铲子铲掉第一间房间门口的绿植。

进入房间从医药箱种获得纱布。
这里能看到前往未来并狗带的飞行员。
带着纱布到漏水的房间将其沾湿。
用其搽干净户外的太阳能板。
此时太阳能电机开始工作。
回到落水的房间开灯。
从内嵌在墙上的飞行员那获取砍刀。
前往第一间房间左边的岩石将砍刀磨利！
用砍刀砍断太阳能左边的树根。
在树洞内看到了快渴死的弗兰克···
先帮弗兰克取水。

在未来和弗兰克对话得知他系苏系间谍。
法兰克的故事，原来他一直是特工，但一直也没获得什么重要信息让领导不满，不过后来他发现了主角所在公司的线索因此潜进来并认识了主角，刚好有2个人所有他可以互相打掩护。
这里的信息让领导很满意但某天领导急着要情报，于是法兰克也急了，因此也出现意外，他被发现了！
不过领导也只是当作他误入试验设施···毕竟···

现在事情明了了，法兰克偷了时空机将时间设置到最大，希望能逃过敌人后回去···
哪知道现在他病了，也即将凉了···
看到主角后他觉得需要帮主角一马，时空机的保险丝在他这里，只要主角能回去就好了，这是他这辈子最后的真挚友情的见证了。

说完这些法兰克也昏迷过去了，他明显比主角更老一些，估计时间长穿梭误差导致他在未来呆的更久一些。

主角用保险丝修好时空机，回到过去，但时空机也坏了。

获得边上倒地狗带守卫身上的钥匙。
捡起地上的棍子敲碎右边的碎墙进入冷冻装置房间。
这时候主角操作控制台会发现自己带了未来的病毒。

用钥匙打开实验室外面的房间的黄色标签文件柜子获取红文件说明书，按照说明书操作打开培养巢机器，主角进入了冷冻装置···冷冻···

所以后续官方都不会发现主角有问题！？

不知道多久之后，主角重新在房间里醒来。
应该是解冻成功后开始恢复···
取得床左边的白色纸张，出门。

和2号房间焦虑的男子对话。
对方似乎被电视吵得难受但又不知道怎么关闭它。
和3号房间的神经过敏的男子对话说逃不出去了···
获得沙发上的遥控器。
用遥控器关闭2号房间的电视，
但接着他又去客厅终端前捂着耳朵（应该是对电子干扰比较敏感导致的）
此时2号房间的男子恢复后会离开房间。
拿取他的拐杖。
回自己房间通过拐杖取得柜子顶部的笔。
将笔给3号房间的人。在纸上写下密码。
用密码进入1号房间，和里面的女子对话。

原来女子是艾玛的医生，现在是2017年，主角冷冻了30年5周前才恢复苏醒过来。
之前的公司后来破产了，然后所有资产被其他公司买下，包括这些冷冻装置和冷冻人···
但那家公司的资料都在一场大火里烧毁了导致现在没人知道主角是谁···
主角的病其实只是禽流感，在未来早就解决了。
···虽然在主角那年是不治之症···
其他恢复的人都有些末日幻觉导致不好出社会，但主角看起来状态良好于是差不多就能回归社会···

If you like short point ‘n’ click adventures with a post apocalyptic, retro, time travel vibe then I highly recommend this one.

[b]Details:[/b]

I played this over a decade ago and vaguely recalled it being a good point ‘n’ click adventure. Obviously, I had reservations about playing it now as 12 plus years is a long time and ports to PC are notoriously tricky to pull off. Anyway, no fear, this port is excellent and the experience is just as good maybe even better than the first time around.

I played it entirely on Steam Deck and graphically it shines especially on the OLED screen. Performance is buttery smooth. It looks and feels like it was made yesterday which is quite impressive.

I love the art style. The lighting and sound design is perfect creating the right atmosphere. The plot is pretty solid. The game avoids giving you a large inventory of items to carry and the sort of moon logic other point and clicks suffer from.

Game progression is fast paced and constantly moves the player forward, unless you get stuck of course which rarely happens in this game. The key to this is making sure you explore every room and areas in all available ‘time zones’.

I completed it in about 7 hours though I’m quite a slow player and read every single available text pop up ... I never skip! Your mileage will no doubt vary but the 10 chapters can be enjoyed in one or two sittings.

This is one of those rare games from any genre where the whole package just works. It’s a perfect match of great visuals and sound design and a story that progresses to a satisfying conclusion. It’s great to see this version is available so many years after release and in such high fidelity and I really hope that more people get to enjoy it.

A point-and-click adventure with a simple but clever time-travel twist: you play as a low-level office worker who stumbles upon a mysterious device that lets him hop between the present and a dystopian future, trying to prevent a looming catastrophe. The puzzles are neat, the atmosphere is clean but not especially haunting, and the story is engaging enough to finish in a single session. It's nothing too special, but still a pretty decent (and pretty short) point & click adventure game, with puzzles that mostly make sense, and the story that by the end kinda blows your mind a little bit with twists and untwists

The only major critique is that it's insanely easy to miss commentary about things (which is one of my favorite parts of adventure games - to click with everything on everything) because most phrases aren't voiced (so you can just not notice something), don't pause the game (so you might do something that skips the rest of the comment) and when they have multiple lines only progress by waiting (so you have to wait to finish the full sentence) - and also a lot of objects have multiples, so you can miss some like that too
But on the other hand, the sheer amount of the comments, and often reactions on pretty weird combinations make my heart sing

A short mystery with puzzle elements and humorous commentary about the life of an average Joe thrown into an unusual situation.

The gameplay is fairly straightforward, focusing mostly on the story aspect instead of the puzzle aspect, and the menu options are minimalistic to the extreme, which can be frustrating for players who prefer to adjust settings such as text size, especially since most of the game is text-based. But the story is well written and the voice acting decently done.

Overall, an excellent example of the self-fulfilling nature of time travel's cyclical consequences.

The Silent Age var en spennende liten perle.
Selve gameplayet er helt ok, med puzzles og enkle mekanikker ( det vil likevel ikke si at det nødvendigvis er enkle puzzles, jeg brukte litt tid på noen av dem for å si det sånn).

Historien og omgivelsen er 10/10. Kjempe artig, rimelig og kort spill.

Let’s be clear: The Silent Age is a banger.

Yes, it already proved itself on mobile, but on PC it still hits hard because the core idea is strong and the execution is tight. You play a regular dude—more “maintenance guy / janitor” than superhero—who gets dragged into a time-travel mess. And the game uses that premise exactly the way it should: you jump between past and future, do one small action that causes a chain reaction in the other timeline, and suddenly the next area opens up. It’s classic point & click logic, but with a genuinely satisfying time mechanic that keeps the puzzles feeling fresh.

Everything is readable, luminous, and polished—characters stand out, environments guide your eye, and you’re never fighting the interface.

And the story? That’s the trap (the good kind): you want to know more. It’s paced well, it doesn’t drown you in pointless dialogue, and it gives you that constant push—“ok, but what the hell happened?” The difficulty ramps up nicely too: not brain-dead, not sadistic. If not a classic, why shaped like one?

If PC games were a thing in the 1950s, you could have been considered a classic alongside the dystopian novels written around those times... Sounds like too much flattery, perhaps perhaps, but this is such a good game, as I was thinking why are videogames considered lesser media when they can portray messages as impactful as books? Yes there are many reasons and nuances... Anyway, proper review ahead:

When I said "shaped like a classic", it is because it has all the elements that can make it a classic dystopian story, so as a consequence, many story points can be easily predicted, like when you read the first pages of 1984 and you knew where that novel was heading towards. And "knowing" does not take anything away, from either the experience or something that you didn't think of (as humans don't have infinite knowledge). In the case of this game, it was more the former than the latter.

Some predictability, but the choice of elements matter, and for this dystopian game they used time travelling, cryogenics, bioweapons,... Time traveling is one of the gameplay mechanics, you switch back and forth in time deciphering puzzles that can only be solved across timelines, they are quite simple as long as you pay attention.

The pacing was perfect, every element was there for a reason, every minute of the story telling well spent, one event after the other, when the world seemed too overwhelming so they sent you some comfort, then snapped it back from your hands with a cruel reality check, leaving you the perfect feeling of bittersweetness. The pauses, slow downs, all adding up to something bigger that you could probably guess already but still anxious to see it happen, or not.

If I had to talk about the depth, I would say it doesn't really go that deep, because it simply gives you an apple, and you are the one who decides the weight of that apple and what it entails. So instead of focusing on explaining to you explicitly the implications and consequences, it focused on bringing you an experience based on action, you have to open the door then close the door, and there is meaning behind it, but that is for you to figure out.

The only tiny flaw I would point out is regarding the ending, I personally always like to really see endings slow down so we get a second to simply process and watch it fade away, yk like wanting to peek at the happy life the main couple of the romcom movie got, instead of ending it at the confession scene. You get the point, and it is just me, though.

I remember playing the free version years ago and left it halfway didn't get the whole game, now I've come full circle with the topic of time travelling lol, it was a really nice experience, thank you.

Un très beau jeu, avec un univers captivant, un scénario bien ficelé qui donne envie d'avancer. Les acteurs qui prêtent leurs voix sont excellents et le texte des dialogues est un bon guide, les petites pontes d'humour de Joe sont un plus léger et sobre. La bande son est aussi très bien adaptée, jamais trop envahissante, elle ponctue et souligne certaines étapes. Les énigmes sont assez simples et logiques et restent un bon moteur pour continuer, on reste assez peu souvent bloqué, il faut juste réfléchir et utiliser ce qu'on a sous la main.
Je recommande vivement cette aventure à laquelle j'ai "accroché" jusqu'au bout.

y una frase espectacular que aplica a los cientos de finales que vivimos en la vida: “quien hubiese dicho que el día del juicio final tocaría la puerta como cualquier otro lunes de mayo”. algo así.

Incredible game with lovely visuals and stunning atmosphere; well worth a play.

A point and click puzzle game set in the 70s, you play as a . It's not too difficult and is very story focused with a singular ending, however the game doesn't feel strict despite being linear. I remember originally playing it for free back when it was on mobile and this game stole my heart, so later decided to purchase it when on sale. The art is simple but beautiful, with dynamic lighting and fitting music, this game sets the mood perfectly.

light SPOILERS: [spoiler] This game features time travel and puzzles that require you to move back and forward in time, which I found to be unique and extremely satisfying to solve; while the story might feel predictable to those familiar with time travel it's still an engaging story. The game may be short to extremely experienced puzzle solvers or over-priced to people who dislike indie games; but personally I can only say good things about it.

The Silent Age is a bit of a personal time-travel experience for me, since I bought it back in 2017 for less than a dollar on sale, and then completely forgot about it.

Eight years ago I was interested in different games and was heavily limited by my potato laptop, so everything I collected back then was rather "primitive" in terms of using my GPU and focused on narrative, so I could play it even at 10 FPS without missing the point.

Now, in 2025, my tastes have changed a bit, but I kept noticing The Silent Age silently waiting for my attention for ages (pun intended). So I decided: why not? And I didn't expect it to be this good! I've been into time-travel stuff since childhood, and things like Back to the Future amazed me a long time ago, but then I just... forgot?

Gameplay is pretty straightforward here, but I'll be honest, sometimes I had to read through guides to get things done, because of how unobvious the logic was to me personally. But I guess that's the flaw of all point-and-click games: you can't always expect all players to follow the same logic as the developer intended, and from time to time you'll just click around, hoping that it'll work.

But the story is perfect! It's not too long, it never gets boring or dull, the pacing is just right and it gets you hooked, making you want to see the next plot twist waiting for you around the corner!

And that's what makes The Silent Age a great experience: you are not just blindly clicking on screwdrivers and apples to find an entrance to the next room. You are trying to save the world!

Great game, it hasn’t aged at all and is totally worth playing even in 2025!

This is one of those gems you're glad/suprised to find.
The puzzles are not overwhelming and the story is dark and engaging.
The comments made by the main character Joe are witty and down to earth.
The music is atmospheric and fits the theme of the game so well, also the audio cues that play on certain events add a nice touch, I pause from time to time to listen to the background music.

Уникальная "машина времени" позволяет перемещаться между 1972 и 2012 годами, меняя реальность и создавая интересные головоломки. Эта механика - основа геймплея, и она хорошо реализована : игрок исследует апокалиптический 2012 год с его безлюдными руинами и контрастирующие с ним цветные 1970-е, где каждая деталь влияет на будущее.
