TLDR: Just don't buy this game! It is completely overpriced for a short and repetitive experience that will leave you wondering why you even finished it. Read the rest for more detail if interested.

I barely even played 16 hours... I finished the entire game on hardest difficulty and stand at 35/39 achievement unlocked. I just can't be bothered to 100% Diofield Chronicle for one simple reason. All battles are the SAME! On maps that look the same! Fighting a rotation of enemies that are always the same and always act the same way even when the story says they ambushed you.

Then there is the aggressively average story that tries to take itself seriously and is completely disconnected from it's actual gameplay. There is nothing to say about it except that you will forget it faster than what you ate for dinner 2 days ago.

With the price tag of this game versus it's length and quality it should not be above 10$. Too short, too repetitive, completely uncreative. Who would go for new game + in a game like this? I'll commend the fact that new game + is available. But it's NOT A GOOD GAME LOOP!

I usually love tactical game even clunky ones like Age of Reforging: Freelands, Banquet for Fools, Lost Eidolon or even more tactical one like Cyber Knight: Flashpoint or Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Role Playing Game. All of those miles better than Diofield by the way and MUCH cheaper and longer, more creative and more unique in their own way! So go buy and play those instead if you want a worthy and fun time for your hard earned money.

Aquí no vienes a dar espadazos sin pensar: vienes a pausar el tiempo, reposicionar unidades y fingir que todo estaba calculado desde el inicio.

Su propuesta gira alrededor de combates tácticos en tiempo real con pausa (sí, el clásico “RTS pero sin el estrés de sudar”), con un enfoque de escuadrón y habilidades que se sienten más “juego de rol táctico” que “simulador de guerra”. La primera impresión es clara: [b]buena trama + ambiente militar + estilo anime[/b], y una presentación 2D/3D que intenta verse elegante sin gritar “soy un remake de 2007”.

The DioField Chronicle es un juego que quiere que te sientas estratega de élite: pausar, flanquear, ejecutar habilidades y ganar con “plan maestro” (aunque tu plan haya sido pánico con pausas). Como propuesta de rol estratégico, es [b]sólido[/b], con una ambientación medieval/militar muy bien lograda y una historia que se toma en serio a sí misma… a veces demasiado, como si el guion te estuviera mirando feo por no sufrir lo suficiente.

Ahora, seamos controversiales: si vienes esperando que esto destrone a los grandes del género táctico, te vas a quedar con cara de “¿y ya?”. Funciona, entretiene, tiene estilo, pero también juega relativamente seguro. Y con [b]1 jugador activo[/b] (sí, uno) y [b]668 recomendaciones[/b], se siente como ese buen juego que muchos respetan… pero que no todos están jugando hoy.

This game had so much potential. It could have been a modern Fire Emblem meets Final Fantasy Tactics. A real masterpiece. Unfortunately, it falls woefully short almost everywhere.
The flow of combat was outstanding and I hope we get a sequel with a AAA budget. I want to play more games that feel this good in battle.
Everything else felt rushed, low quality and low budget. The presentation of the story (and there's a great story here) is a mess. The character dialogue is terrible. Some of the main quests should have been side quests. And most of the side quests, which involve talking to just one npc, should never have been called quests. Skill trees and weapon trees are too basic. Headquarters is sparse and hollow. The list goes on. This game needed a remake the day it released.

Square tentou inovar, porém arriscou da forma errada. O jogo é basicamente um rts com spam constante de magia, seu personagem sozinho praticamente não faz nada. De tático mesmo quase não tem nada, você não precisa pensar muito, tudo é muito simples. Pouca variedade de inimigo.
É uma pena pois os personagens são bons. Acredito que se ela tivesse feito um jogo tático de turnos aproveitando melhor cada personagem com suas habilidades, seria um jogo bem melhor. A história é ok, nada de outro mundo, porém aceitável. As missões secundárias agregam na história, geralmente são sobre os personagens. Único jogo da Square que faz sentido fazer missão secundária. Algumas são apenas diálogos sobre medo e insegurança. Ele é bem fácil de fazer 100% pra quem gosta.

Short version: This is the most nihilistic video game I have ever played. That is not necessarily a criticism.

Alright, so let's just get this out of the way: this isn't a great game. The RTSRPG format is a cool concept that doesn't get a ton of airplay and this isn't exactly an incompetent execution of it, but the gameplay's a little thin - you're limited to fielding a squad of four characters so the rather large cast feels bloated and unnecessary, and each character/support unit combo (think latter-day Fire Emblem) has at most four or five abilities on shared cooldown. The diorama art style of the maps (GET IT????) is gorgeous but the maps themselves are pretty uninspired. Truly a "seen one, seen them all" type deal. Gameplay wise, the world would have been better off if SE had just remade FF12: Revenant Wings. If you want my personal favorite RTSRPG as a recommendation, I'd say Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time for the PSP.

With that out of the way, I didn't sit down to write this review just to trash a mediocre if inoffensive game. I completed it, after all, which is more than I can say for many other equally monotonous games. No, I completed DioField Chronicle, and I have no regrets having done so because afterwards, I had cause to genuinely sit with the experience and while I can't in fairness call it "good", there might be two or three weirdos out there like me and for THOSE people, truly I say to you that the story of DioField Chronicle is worth experiencing. I will try to avoid spoilers.

Once again, this is easily the most nihilistic video game I have ever played. It is the story of a mercenary company, and while that itself isn't an uncommon subject in the genre, DioField is unusually frank about what that entails. These people are not heroes. They aren't villains, exactly, but they would very easily be villains in somebody else's video game. They are, first and foremost, professionals. They receive orders, they follow them, and rarely if ever give any thought to the moral valence of their actions. As things begin to escalate and spiral, they continue to act in the manner most expeditious for their own company, and dispatch problems without comment.

One major character is revealed fairly early on to be - for lack of a better term - an actual psychopath. Sticking with RPG character comparisons for simplicity, they remind me mainly of Racter from Shadowrun: Hong Kong: unquestionably on your side and not exactly malicious or bloodthirsty, but clearly unconcerned and utilitarian about the value of human life. The protagonist maintains a professional, cordial relationship with this person until they abandon the company, are later encountered as an enemy, and killed without comment. They are never mentioned again. They are never acknowledged again. There is no consideration by the characters of what it all "meant." They don't care. DioField Chronicles doesn't care.

The game proceeds in this fashion, events escalating and stakes growing, and you think there might be a payoff, that it might have some sort of moral, but that's you projecting your sensibilities on what a story "should" be. But this isn't a story. This is just a chronicle. And the ending, the thing the Chronicle exists to contextualize and "explain," to whatever extent that's possible, seems so abrupt and strange but not uncharacteristic that I still don't know how to feel about it. I am not exaggerating when I say that DioField Chronicle has the most abrupt, nihilistic ending to an epic story I've seen since Aeneas killed Turnus.

So I can't in good conscience recommend this game to the average person whom I know nothing about other than that they want to play an RTSRPG about mercenaries. But any fellow weirdos, this may be worth enduring 30 hours of boring level design to experience.

「打ち切りEND」「バッドEND」「鬱END」が嫌いな人にはオススメ出来ません。

ここでも他のネット(You tubeとか)でもネガティブなレビューが多いですし、私もそのほぼすべてに共感しています。
ですがエンディングまでは楽しくプレイしていたのでオススメします。
盾持ちの頑丈な歩兵で敵の進軍を食い止めたり、機動力のある騎馬で挟み撃ちにしたり、奥の柔らかい弓兵を狙ったり...
無料体験版でその辺を面白いと感じた人は、試しに本作を買ってみても楽しめると思う。

久しぶりにグローランサーで遊べた気分でした。
異論は認める。
むしろ他にグローランサーみたいなオススメゲームがあったら教えて欲しい。
