Sunset Overdrive has been a special game to me ever since I first picked it up on Xbox nearly 10 years ago, and I still remember buying it without really knowing what to expect. Recently, I saw it on Steam and decided to pick it up again, and it reminded me just how fun and unique it really is. The movement is what really stands out; grinding across rails, bouncing off cars, and constantly staying in motion makes the gameplay feel fast and smooth, and it rewards you for being creative instead of just standing still. The over the top weapons and chaotic fights against the OD keep things exciting, while the bright, colorful art style and humor give the game a ton of personality. Coming back to it after all this time, it still holds up to modern standards. Absolutely nothing feels out of place, and even the jokes are still funny and not outdated. As a completionist, this was one of the more fun games to 100% nothing felt overly complicated or difficult, and achievements never felt frustrating to get. Time trials and missions are replayable, so there’s no worry about missing anything due to story progression. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s exactly what makes it so memorable. Even after all these years, it still stands out as something different, and it’s a game that has stuck with me for a long time.

Chão é Lava: O sistema de movimento é genial. Se você parar de correr pelas paredes ou deslizar nos fios por 2 segundos, você morre. É parkour com esteroides.

Armas Absurdas: Esqueça pistolas comuns. Aqui você atira discos de vinil, bolas de boliche e ursinhos de pelúcia explosivos. A Insomniac Games no seu auge da criatividade.

Estilo Puro: O jogo não se leva a sério nem por um decreto. Ele quebra a quarta parede o tempo todo, faz piada com a própria interface e deixa você criar o personagem mais cafona do mundo.

Trilha Sonora: Punk rock de qualidade que combina perfeitamente com a explosão de cores (e de monstros de refrigerante) na tela.

Contras:

Humor "Amanhã": O estilo "zoeiro" de 2014 às vezes cansa um pouco se você não estiver no clima. É muita piadinha por minuto.

Missões Repetitivas: No fundo, você vai passar boa parte do tempo defendendo torres ou buscando itens, mas como a locomoção é divertida, você acaba perdoando.

Esquecido pela Microsoft: É um crime esse jogo não ter tido uma continuação direta até hoje. Ele merece muito mais amor.

Veredito:
Se você está cansado de jogos de tiro cinzas, sérios e realistas, Sunset Overdrive é o antídoto. É uma explosão de neon e diversão pura que não pede desculpas por ser um videogame.

probably some of the most fun i’ve had since viva piñata. tony hawk pro skater meets brutal legend meets devil may cry? there are so many unique styles and fun characters in this biohazardous apocalyptic wasteland where there is no escape. screw over corpos and see how many cool tricks you can do while simultaneously shooting everything. it may feel overwhelming at first, but the game picks up rather quickly and you’ll find yourself having a ton of fun over the course of a single playthrough. plus the game goes for super cheap now it’s a total steal at its base price already.

insomniac displays everything great about what they do in this game. the best movement in any game ever in my opinion, amazingly fun weapons, so much character customisation, enjoyable missions, hilarious jokes and social commentary. the list is endless. there is truly something for everyone in this game, from awesome combat, a huge collectathon and a dope ost. i really cant praise this game enough, and id do anything for a sequel

It's pretty awesome, I don't know if it's underrated exactly, but for sure under the radar for a lot of people. Some of the humour is a little 2010's and on the nose, but if you don't take it too seriously you can brush it off.

There is a a loooot of good here like movement, soundtrack(peak), gun variety, open world, especially traversal, (I spent many hours just flying around the map and killing ODs and screwing around).

Then some okay/meh stuff like story, boss design, and some of the humour(for me).

This is the best game Insomniac ever made, and I say that as huge Spider-Man fan. This game is like Ratchet & Clank meets Tony Hawk, as you grind around shooting the $hit out of mutants. This is from a time when Insomniac was a great company, and not pushing their political beliefs in their games. It has a lot of punk-rock energy, and you can tell the game doesn't take itself too seriously. At the price this game is going for, it's an absolute steal. You won't regret picking this one up.

Went to play the game after 3 days of not logging in, only for the games save file to corrupt. Lost all my progress on that save file and every time I tried loading the save file it would either crash my game, or create a brand new one. Now im unable to play my main save and gotta restart all over again.

Game is super fun and the mechanics are really smooth, but damn the pc port is trash. Other reviews seem to have a common issue with save files constantly corrupting. Xbox original is really fun though, recommend it on xbox, unfortunately this port is just not it.

It tried to hard to be two fun games at once where its this wacky zany horde shooter and wacky zany platformer/collectathon game and in the end it fizzles out to be this glorious mess of particles and reddit humour that makes fun of reddit itself somehow.
This game makes reference to xbox kinect and has so much charm and personality it makes up for all the mishaps in the gameplay.
Its Cocomelon for 13 year old nostalgia grabbed failed adults.

I might be 12 years late to the party but this game is so damn refreshing and fun to play, might be Insomniac's best game to date in my opinion. The gameplay is similar to Insomniac's Marvel Spiderman but its has much better weapons here and dialogue (one of best in gaming history btw) although its an older game and its about some funny incel that can grind on rails. Anyways highly recommend the game to literally anyone with a soul.

It's great, played it when I was a kid but when I downloaded it for whatever reason it had a corrupted save file. I finished the main story and while I was in the middle of a mission my computer crash and THE SAVE FILE WAS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ EATEN. So I'm redownloading it and praying the corrupted file is gone.

Sunset Overdrive is the most video gamey video game I've ever played, and I love it for that. The movement, the combat, and the soundtrack are all so phenomenal that there's hardly ever a dull moment. My only complaint is the comedy can be a little corny at times and even then I think it's decently funny overall.

This game is easily in my top ten, it's so tragically underrated and way more people need to give it a shot.

The game is simple, mindless fun, the world and characters are both colorful and charming, and the gameplay is extremely addictive, with a large number of unique weapons. The dialogue is very 2014, sometimes funny, sometimes cringe, but it does grow on you quickly.

The big problem is the technical side. The PC port is bare minimum effort, there are barely any graphical settings, mouse movement feels awful and weird, like they just mapped left stick controls to mouse movement and called it a day, and I lost count of how many times I got stuck in the environment.

Despite the technical problems, I still highly recommend this game, because it's just that good and worth its price.

This is undeniably one of the best gaming experiences of my life.
Fresh unique gameplay, fun soundtrack, amazing world-building- sunset city looks beautiful both while moving or paying attention to detail, and story as enjoyable as it is unserious. Side missions and challenges have good diversity all while keeping things familiar enough for you to try them all.
It's really honest and confident in its presentation and it's very apparent when you play that it's made by people who love video games.

In my opinion, Sunset Overdrive is a 10/10 game. From the top tier movement system to the creative weapon variety and the goofy storyline, this game delivers a refreshing experience that stands out from most modern titles. It’s honestly a shame that it will likely never receive a sequel due to the developers’ lack of interest, because this world and gameplay deserved so much more. Ever since I saw the trailer back in 2014, I KNEW I had to play this game.

Я давал этой игре шанс - искренне. 6 часов я за ней усидел, но она слегка... Пресная.
Я понимаю почему люди любят эту игру: она стильная, забавная, в нее определённо вложены силы, но с уверенностью могу сказать, что ещё в 2018 году, когда она вышла - умудрилась устареть. Миллионы миллионов подбиралок всяких (за которые ещё и прокачка идёт, вообще мерзость), довольно скучные и однотипные задания, пусть и далеко не все. Игра довольно драйвовая, но мне скорости не хватило, а с учётом и других вещей - вышло как-то совсем пресно.
Определённо не ужасная игра, но откуда столько хороших отзывов - понять не могу

PROS:
-You can make the zaniest character ever (not that it matters afterwards)
-Grinding around town is a cool concept, but executed poorly
-Graphics are bright and colorful and full of life
-Music is fun energetic punk/ska
-It's... hum... really struggling here... it's really cool! (sunglasses emoji)

CONS:
-No skateboard. Dude is grinding on his shoes with magic.
-Dialog is massive cringe!
-The game is geared towards parkour and exploration, but the game locks you down to limited areas for missions where leaving the zone fails you
-Guns really don't feel good. No reload. Hard to see ammo count and no good signal when you're out. SFX are lackluster. Etc.
-Focuses on shooting enemies, which slows you down to aim, when, again, the game should focus on speed & agility. Mirror's Edge did it right.
-Lack of interesting story or characters with any kind of personality. NPCs are just there to teach you the ropes and order you around. It's all style and no substance.
-DESPERATLY needed multiplayer.

CONCLUSION : Would have been fantastic to hop and grind around the city with other players, shooting zombies and doing minigames. Meet players and make a team to THEN tackle missions seperated from the shared open world. The groundwork is here, hopefully they'll make a sequel a Massively Multiplayer Online Parkour Action Game (MMOPAG). Or, if you go the single player route agains, make an engaging story and/or just make it fun & arcady, without so much tutorializing (it's still bad even if it's self-aware and trying to be funny) and just let the player jump into the action (literally) and explore the city... WITH A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SKATEBOARD. (skates would be cool too)

I initially played this game back on the Xbox One forever ago, then I got it on Steam back in 2019 and played through it again. THEN I remembered this game here in 2026 and immediately went back for round 3, this time 100%ing it. I can't say I've played through many games 3 times, so that's a testament to the love I have for it.

This game is just overflowing with creativity, from the much more upbeat take on a "zombie" apocalypse, to the charming characters around every corner. The dialogue is fun and clever, with humor that isn't too dated, the world is bright and extremely well crafted with just how natural it feels to move around in it using the phenomenal movement system that Insomniac set in place. Once you get a feel for the movement, you'll be seamlessly traversing Sunset City, chaining together grinds, bounces, wall rides, vaults, air dashes, and the like.

The combat encourages you to be on the move, and luckily the movement system works well here as well, keeping fights interesting and flashy as you maneuver between hordes of OD and all the stuff they're throwing at you. All the while building up style points to activate your amps, making you even more powerful. There are 20+ different weapons, all with their own gimmicks, each being able to level up and attach different amps to.

It's hard for me to express just how unique this game is, and how much I desire a sequel. I do think the length is one of the biggest things I'd like to point out to anybody considering the game, it's a relatively short experience that'll probably run you around 10hrs if you just focused on the main campaign. My 100% run, all achievements and all quests, DLC included, took about 26hrs. Which I think is perfectly acceptable, especially if you cop this on sale for like $5.

Comprei esse jogo na promoção sem saber como ele era, não estava dando muita bola, achei que ia ser mais um jogo aleatório de matar zumbis... Eu não poderia estar mais errado.

Se você gosta de liberdade de movimento pelo mapa, parkour, customização, ganhar pontos por fazer maluquice e CAOS, esse jogo é pra você. Passei as ultimas 2 semanas jogando esse jogo todo dia no meu tempo livre, atualmente tenho 46.6 horas totais e acabei de platinar o jogo, não me arrependo, valeu cada centavo e até fora de promoção esse jogo vale o preço, é um jogo muito injustiçado e merecia ter uma relevância maior pelo oque ele oferece, personagens carismáticos, a lore é bem viajada mas ainda assim te prende bem e não se torna monótona, o trabalho de dublagem é impecável, o dublador do personagem principal (masculino) é o icônico Paulo Vignolo (Dublador do Jack Black). E oque falar da música? IMPECÁVEL, a trilha sonora de rock te deixa vidrado e combina demais com a gameplay caótica é uma sensação que você só tem jogando. O jogo tem um estilo único de gameplay que é MUITO satisfatória e prende demais, você joga e acaba perdendo a noção do tempo.

No geral, um ótimo jogo, recomendo com ou sem promoção, vale apena seu dinheiro pode confiar. e Fizzco VNTC!

Sunset Overdrive era um dos jogos mais aguardados do meu backlog e consegui pegá-lo na promoção de fim de ano da Steam. E fiquei muito supreso ao descobrir que o jogo é exatamente tudo o que eu esperava e um pouco mais: gráficos bonitos, movimentação fluída, mundo aberto eficiente, diversos conteúdos (Repetivos? Sim, mas são divertidos), uma grande variedade de inimigos, armas, e customização, sem contar que os personagens são muito bem construídos.

Em resumo, é um excelente jogo. Contudo...ele sofre de um problema, que do meu ponto de vista, é um dos maiores medos de qualquer player: save corrompido!

No alto das minhas 12 horas de jogo (se não me engano são necessárias 19 horas para zerar), o jogo simplesmente fechou, reiniciou, e quando voltou está com um save de apenas 1 hora de jogo, ainda em parte do tutorial. Ou seja, todo o progresso foi para o lixo, mesmo o jogo tendo autosave, o que aparentemente não funcionou.

Esse foi o único ponto negativo, mas que teve peso total na minha experiência. Nem com a nuvem da Steam consegui recuperar o meu progresso. Por esse único motivo, não recomendo o jogo, para que você não passe pela mesma frustração que eu passei. Olhando no fórum da Steam, vi que outros jogadores tiveram o mesmo problema. Uma pena, e possivelmente, não terá qualquer tipo de correção.

Нуу, если честно даже не знаю. Очень давно увидел эту игру и подумал вот оно... крутой драйвовый геймплей, сочная графика, интересная история. Тогда играть не было возможности, вот сейчас купил по скидке и разочаровался. Не рыба не мясо как говорится. С одной стороны зашло, с другой стороны, какое то все пресное...

traversal is addicting and weapon variety is pure fun. story is there just to get you through it. so no depth to the over-the-top characters but on the other hand plenty of epic badass moments. if I was a teenager I would eat up the humor too

I don't know why this game has received such high marks, it's not patient, does not give you time to learn, keeps capitalizing on your mistakes and in the end, makes you feel like a loser. I'm not only never playing it again, I'm ERASING IT FROM MY ACCOUNT. I literally HATE THIS GAME
