I guess this just isn’t my type of game. I never felt a sense of consistent progression throughout the campaign. Every time I powered up, the enemies seemed to scale in a way that made combat feel sillier rather than more challenging.

I still managed to reach the end on Normal difficulty, but the final mission—with its three stages—was the final nail on coffin.

It took me nearly a year to finish this game, and I never once felt that “just one more stage” pull. That alone is probably a clear sign that it’s not for me, and that there are simply better games out there for my tastes.

That said, the game does offer co-op, so it might shine more as a couch co-op experience. Who knows—maybe that’s where it truly works best.

I am very much enjoying this game. It has a variety of characters and play styles. The background environments look terrific, and the gameplay is fast with many different enemies. The boss fights are fun and somewhat intense. Its has great powerups, the ability to choose upgrades after completing a stage, and has a physical attack. In my opinion, that game is very balanced, optimized, and runs excellent on the Steam Deck. If you're into a space invaders shoot 'em up, you should definitely check this game out.

I was lucky to get a free copy of this game but I'd like to add that I have no affiliation with the studio. Now that I have played it, I would happily have paid the money to play this game and eagerly look forward to their future projects.

Great shoot em up with decent humor and a decent soundtrack. The campaign offers about two hours of game play even on the easiest difficulty. Would recommend it especially if it's on sale. Didn't have the opportunity to try out co-op but I'm sure it would be double or even quadruple the fun.

A game I can recommend to people that like shoot em ups but aren't very good at them.

There's many difficulty presets, the easiest one basically turns the game into a party game (which is just appropriate since it supports up to 4 players), the normal one should be just right for people vaguely familiar with the genre to beat, and everything after that provides more challenge to the more experienced players by altering many different aspects, not just enemy/bullet counts. There's even a custom preset where you can adjust all of these individual aspects to your liking to create your own experience.

Instead of ships, you have 5 mechs to choose from. After you choose a mech, you then choose a primary and secondary weapons. Each mech has access to the same arsenal, however, they also have two unique skills that significantly alter how they play.

There's no one hit deaths, you got a life bar and a shield, the life bar requires a health pickup to refill but your shield regenerates after a few seconds of not taking damage. A very generous system, that said, there's no invincibility period or anything after getting hit, so going face-first into a thick bullet barrage will still kill you very fast.

Stages are split into 3 parts, each one serves as a checkpoint. Reaching the first two gives you a free upgrade to choose from 3 random choices, clearing the level allows you to use earned money to buy more upgrades from an also random but bigger selection, some of these upgrades are exclusive to the shop itself.

The whole campaign can be beaten in around 2 hours, give or take depending on difficulty and how often you die. The game does save your progress so you can beat it at your own leisure.

There's a few additional modes, but they're more like cool extras than anything you'll be spending a serious amount of time in, I see more replay value in the campaign and trying different mechs and difficulties, personally.

As for presentation, the mechs look cool and the music is banging. There's a story of sorts on the campaign which kinda has a comic book or Saturday morning cartoon feel to it, but I'm gonna be honest, the writing is very cringey. Thankfully it is not voiced (none of the game is), it's fairly short and you can just button mash your way through it. It's just random nonsense, so you're not missing much by skipping it.

Besides the story, my only negative is your weapons feel very weak. It's cool to be able to play as a mech for once instead of a ship, but it's unfortunate that despite the multiple weapon combinations, none of them feel like they pack a punch. The bullets are tiny, slow and don't have much of a spread. Everybody knows the coolest part of a shoot em up is starting with a basic pea shooter and powering up to imposing barrages that cover large portions of the screen, there isn't any of that here. You're stuck with the two weapons you pick for your loadout, there's power ups you can pick along the stage that do increase your fire power, but they're time based and go away too fast to be able to get any joy from using them, it would be cool if they at least lasted until you got killed or something. Furthermore, the upgrades you get mid stage and from the shop are mostly stat only stuff, they just make numbers go up or down, there's no visual change to your shots at all, big bummer. I do appreciate that there's a melee option though (actually makes me feel like the mechs aren't just reskinned ships) and that the mechs unique skills are more fun to use than your regular weapons.

Overall, just about good enough for the asking price, but picking it up for cheaper on a sale may make you appreciate it more.

Overall a well-balanced and enjoyable SHMUP, if a bit short. (But then again, most SHMUPs are, right?)

I only played through the normal difficulty so far and had no problem with it at all so experienced players should definitely bump it up to a higher difficulty if you want a serious challenge.

Don't know if I got this on sale or not but Id'd say that if you a SHMUP fan it's worth checking out, especially if you get it on sale.

Its a pretty good shooter. Its kind of an rpg shooter in that, if you're having a problem on a level you can just grind for a while buy the upgrades you need and plow through it. You can also set two kinds of guns to autofire, and press shift to do a super charged weapon. Its over the top and laid back, nice graphics. Interesting levels, it just feels kinda easy and grindy. Maybe its just the difficulty I picked, but the game also supports mouse movement which a lot of bullet hells don't have. Good configurations as well. Just a tad on the grindy easy side least the difficulty I'm playing. Maybe it gets a lot hard and more complex later on but for the price on sell I'd recommend trying it. It has some crazy weapons and some nice levels.

Nice little side scrolling bullet hell shoot em up with mechs. This has everything covered, upgrades, variety, challenges, epic boss fights, the works. Main campaign will take you about an hour and half to finish, but there is replay-ability for upgrades, and with endless and challenge stages. Plays smooth, looks easy but can be hard, the smallest enemies normally does the most damage, a few nostalgia moments for old school arcade fans (no spoilers) and there is a few sweet spots on the screen where nothing will get to you :) Great soundtrack and BIG BOOMS! 8.5/10

面クリアの節目ごとにパラメタを強化できるSTG。
(強化なしのエンドレスモードもある。ガンドレットがそれ)
日本語は非対応だけど、まあなんとかなるでしょう。
５機体ははっきりと個性分けされてるので、
自分好みの機体と武器の組み合わせを楽しめる。
ロボものらしく射撃のみならず近接攻撃も用意されており、
後方は狭いものの前上下方向は快適に振れる。
もちろんこれがモノをいう場面もちゃんとアリ。

先に欠点を言っておくと、まずキーコンフィグがない。
一方で完全自動連射ショットがあり、かなり快適にプレイ可。
また、前述したように弾消し要素がないので、
「とにかく先に潰す」のが最優先なので火力偏重になりやすい。
あとバグは少なめだが、原因不明の死が２度あったため、
敵が表示されないバグがあるかもしれない。
あと些細な問題だが「ロボットが画面正面を向いてる」のに、
横方向にスクロールしてるのが奇妙に感じるかもしれない。
(私がそうだったが、すぐに慣れた)

ゲームの内容も平均以上と言っていいが、
やっぱり私がウリにしたいのは「このゲーム特有のノリ」。
ネタバレしちゃうとつまらないから言えないけど、
「笑いながら楽しくゲームしたい」まさに外国人向け仕様。
現在エンジョイ勢の私の趣向にドンピシャでした。

고를 수 있는 기체(5종)와 주무기 및 보조 무기(각각 7종)의 종류가 다양해서 같은 스테이지를 플레이 해도 세팅에 따라서 느낌이 꽤 다른 게임입니다.

화력에 올인한 기체에 범위가 좁지만 공격력이 뛰어난 주무기와 범위 관통 능력을 갖춘 보조 무기같은 극단적인 공격 지향 조합도 가능하고 방어적인 기체와 넓게 퍼지는 주무기에 목표를 자동으로 쫒아가는 보조 무기로 넓은 범위의 탄막을 유지하는 조합도 가능하고 아군 적군 죄다 총질하는데 혼자 근접전 특화 기체에 사거리 짧은 화염방사기 + 수류탄같은 걸 골라서 고통받는 것도 가능합니다.

그리고 스테이지를 클리어할 때마다 기본 능력치를 올리거나 패시브 능력을 가진 장비를 구입해서 기체를 강화하는 RPG 요소가 있어서 오래 붙들고 하기에도 괜찮습니다.

멀티 플레이가 가능하긴 하지만 아쉽게도 온라인 서버를 지원하지 않는 관계로 PC 한 대에 최대 4인까지 로컬 코옵을 즐길 수 있습니다. PC에 조이스틱만 연결하면 그리고 같이 할 사람만 있다면 멀티 플레이도 제법 재미나게 즐길 수 있습니다. 보통 코옵 슈팅 게임에서는 아군의 기체끼리 서로 겹쳐지는 게 가능한데 이 게임은 기체끼리 붙으면 서로 밀어내기 때문에 힘들게 탄막을 피하기보다는 아군 기체 뒤에 숨어 있다가 탄막 쪽으로 아군을 밀어서 방패로 쓰는 전략이 굉장히 유용합니다. 혹시 아군이 죽더라도 버튼 연타하면 바로 부활시킬 수 있으니 안심하고 고기방패로 쓰세요.

플레이 가능한 게임 모드도 캠페인(몰라도 아무 상관 없는 괴상한 내용의 스토리 모드), 건틀렛(기체 업그레이드 기능 없는 무한 모드), 스트라이크(업그레이드 가능한 무한 모드), 챌린지(이런저런 목표 달성하는 모드)까지 네 종류를 지원하고 모드에 따라서는 제법 세세한 난이도 설정도 가능합니다.

탄막의 난이도는 낮은 편이고 회피 판정도 후한 편이라 약간 스친 정도로는 기체에 대미지를 입지 않으니 어려운 탄막 슈팅을 기대하는 분께는 추천드리지 않습니다.

정가 다 주고 사기에는 좀 애매하지만 할인 가격으로 구매하기에는 제법 괜찮은 게임이라고 생각합니다. 가끔 80% 세일도 하고 있으니 전자 오락실 스타일의 횡스크롤 메카 슈팅 게임에 흥미가 있으신 분들은 찜 목록에 넣어 두고 지켜보시면 좋을 것 같네요.

It has mechs that go shooty-kablooey bam-bam. You gotz two Shooty McShooterinz that combine into one gun that can toggle the fire so you can focus dodging enemy projectiles. Good to remote play with your friendz!

A fun and goofy shmup I picked up for only a dollar. It's not very difficult, but there are several different weapons and a few different game modes to keep you going. The bosses could use more variety in their attack patterns, especially when their health gets low, and a bit more enemy variety might have been nice too. I actually appreciate what little story there is here because it doesn't take itself seriously at all and jumps into b-movie, so-bad-it's-good territory [spoiler]"Anyway, good luck finding my real hideout! I'm behind seven proxies!"[/spoiler]

I'll get to the co-op at some point too, which looks like fun (you can steal all the power ups if you want, meaning I can finally get my revenge from the days of gauntlet dark legacy.) But even for a single player experience, it's pretty good.

Great SHMUP, fun with friends, and works well with Steam Link streaming. We played it on a huge projector screen in the office and it was fairly accessible for new players but challenging enough to keep the more experienced gamers engaged.

A variety of mech roles/classes is also a great addition - you can swap loadouts between the missions and try new things as you go.

The campaign is long enough to play it in 2-3 evenings with friends.

Stardust Galaxy Warriors: Stellar Climax, ou como eu prefiro chamar, apenas de Stardust, é um jogo de ''navinha'' como é conhecido no Brasil, ou shoot 'em up, nome original do gênero. No jogo, ao invés de controlarmos naves, controlamos mechas/robôs gigantes por diversas fases. Tem um level design nas cenários e efeitos gráficos espetaculares. A trilha sonora não fica atrás, possuindo ótimas músicas com batidas de rock e de música eletrônica. Na jogabilidade, podemos jogar da forma tradicional, atirando e se esquivando ou, até fazer com que nossos personagens atirem sozinhos, permitindo nos preocuparmos apenas em se esquivar dos tiros inimigos, sendo muito útil. Existem diversos modos de dificuldade, e de jogo. Contém diversos personagens, armas primárias e secundárias, além de vários power-ups para usar. Possui cooperativo local ou por Remote Play, para até quatro jogadores jogarem simultaneamente. Conta com uma história de fundo, narrada por diálogos entre os personagens, porém o jogo não conta com nosso idioma. Sendo assim, é difícil de entender tudo perfeitamente. Stardust Galaxy Warriors: Stellar Climax is a one to four player coop (local or remote play) bullet hell melee imbued side scrolling shooter. The control asset is a healthy choice of mechs with varying abilities and the ability to load out with two weapon systems of choice. In multi-player mode players have the ability to revive each other.

Visual acuity and sound is of high quality and the number of difficulty profiles is substantially iterative with ability to customize any difficulty attribute to your hearts desire.

Four modes include an average in length story campaign for the genre, a gauntlet (endless mode), a strike mode (endless mode with purchasable upgrades) and a challenge mode with six scenarios of variable length.

Campaign levels consist of three stages each and between each level purchases can be made with in game currency. Consumables consist of attribute boosts for critical chance, defense, damage, power-up behavior and a host of special upgrade too numerous to mention such as adding flame to your melee sword.

Stardust Galaxy Warriors: Stellar Climax is polished product and given its diverse weapon systems, diverse upgrades comes highly recommended as a challenging shooter. A+

Un bon petit shoot en défilement horizontal. Il y a le choix entre plusieurs personnages, armes et challenges, ce qui permet de varier le jeu. Les balles fusent de partout et on s'étonne d'arriver à les éviter (pas toujours !).
Les graphismes sont sympas, sans non plus être très sophistiqués. Les musiques sont rythmées et pas trop saoulantes. Il y a de nombreux niveaux de difficultés et la possibilité de régler soi-même beaucoup de paramètres.
Dommage qu'il n'y ait pas de coop en ligne, ça ajouterait à la durée de vie du jeu et à l'envie d'y rejouer.

En conclusion, un bon petit jeu pour ceux qui aiment les shoots classiques, bons graphismes, bonnes ambiances sonore. Tout est propre, sans fausse note. Ca fait plaisir. Je l'ai acheté en solde et je suis bien content de mon investissement.

I've played this game a lot, i know 7hrs is a lot? Well with this game it is. Story side is pretty short lived, I've beat story twice in that 7 hrs lol. Fear not it has other modes to keep you happy think of story mode as training for endless mode. It's one of the best bullet hell side shooters I've played in the year 2000s era. It has plenty of modifiers for difficulty so you can tweak the difficulty a great deal to your liking and it has difficulty presets to if you don't want to customize that aspect of the game. Game play is solid, has local co-op up to 4 players and you can set it to scale difficulty based on number of players which is a good option to have but you can also leave it off if you desire. I've tried it in 2p co-op so far and had a good time, though playing with an 8 year old that don't understand games like this or unwilling to take advice from you is tedious as i was reviving him 75% of the stages. On sale on usa side $2.49 That's a steal in my opinion. Think I gave $5 for it couple years ago and was worth it. I've enjoyed it. I highly recommend it if you like games like this you wont regret it, if you do just refund it right?

Just side note you don't need 4 controllers you can mix and match when i co-oped i was using mouse with auto-fire and other was using my xbox controller who ever uses mouse got it made though set mouse for movement and auto-fire you can 1 hand it lol.

You can turn autofire off and on for both your main guns. Worked for me :-)

Had lots of fun playing through this shmup. The range character worked for me the most.
Rail gun with grenades was a combo of weapons i found the most useful for my progress.
Bosses towards the end got tough.... the final boss is hard and forced me to change my loadout and weapons and was very glad to beat it so i didn't have to keep trying :-)
I preferred damage from range but there are some good melee elements with sword i'm sure some would like.
Nice permanent power up after each stage that keep the game fresh. You can't buy everything in the shop so pick carefully.
I played through the game as a single player and didn't touch the difficulty settings.
Challenge modes seem fun, will dip back in at some point when i get the urge to return to it which i believe i will at some point as its a fun experience.

All in all loved it a nice find.

Totally worth the asking price!

One of the best Shoot Em Ups I've played, this is easily up there with legendary titles such as U.N Squadron.

Decent, fun, fast side scroller that should appeal to fans of the genre. Not as deep a game like Jets n Guns Gold but few are. Not difficult either (bordering on easy) and easily played with KB and mouse (though I prefer this method of controls to any other).

Great weapon effects, customization and mech designs keep the game interesting. 4 game modes adds to the fun as well as the replayability. Although I have not participated, I’m sure 4 player co-op is also blast.

Some of the levels are simply gorgeous and you can tell the developers took a lot of time on them.

Probably the strongest part of the game is the attention put to the upgrade path and skill tree. With several options and paths, you can customize your warrior to your liking.

I agree with all the tags applied to this game except for bullet hell. This is NOT a bullet hell game by any stretch of the imagination. Enemy fire is sparse, slow and easy to dodge which leads me to one of the faults of the game is that it really is not hard enough. Enemies are plodding and predictable and your ship, even when not upgraded, is a bullet sponge.

Characters are not funny with unnecessary presence and narration. If not included, they probably would not even be missed. You can tell there were attempts at humor which just don’t go over well.

I would have liked to see some kind of heat management system. There are literally no consequences to holding down both mouse buttons throughout an entire level.

Is it a good game? Yes. Is it a great game? No, not by any means. It is not without it’s flaws but overcomes these with a great fun factor, game modes, and replayability, which is very important to me as a person who puts a lot of hours into games that generally don't get a lot of hours from other people. Unfortunately, the biggest blemish against it is that it really looks like the developers spent more time on the visuals rather than focusing on the mechanics, gameplay, and story, except for the level progression, which is well done.

I was a bit surprised when I used the windows key to exit the game and came back to find myself dead. I would have assumed the game would have paused but this isn’t that big of a deal, just a bit surprising.

I recommend the game but with reservations. A strong candidate to pick up during sales…

It's a decent horizontal shmup. Each character has a role(support, damage dealer, etc) but it can be played vanilla. Has a story mode with a progression system, an endless mode, and various challenge modes. It also has 4-player local co-op so it's a good time if you have friends to play with.

Highly recommended for younger children or inexprienced gamers.

The option to make the gameplay simpler is a wonderful idea. My little girls are squealing with delight as they play though the campaign and are not put off by stages designed for older and more experienced players.

Being able to choose different roles/ loadouts is also a great plus.

They love shopping for upgrades inbetween stages.

Can't stop talking about it even as their parents are tucking them into bed

Alucinante.....Los gráficos son bonitos. Tienen algo muy especial y atmosférico. La música fenomenal! El modo campaña en dificultad normal es un desafio pero conseguible siendo testarudo y concentrado. Muchas posibilidades de configurar el juego a tu gusto (daño de armas, defensa de blindaje, creditos para mejoras, etc.). Ademas de poder jugar local con hasta 4 jugadores simultaneamente! Un buen juego que ha venido un camino largo desde juegos como Project X de Team 17. Se notan las mejoras. Aparentemente no todo va a peor a lo largo del tiempo :-). Incluido en mi categoria de favoritos!

Fun side scrolling shooter with added mechanics such as a melee option as your piloting a mech. You can revive coop partners in a manner very similar to a Gears of War essentially going over to your ally and pressing a button. There are also unique bomb attacks per mech, as well as the ability to choose from a number of weapons to suit your mech.

Inexpensive and it is the only shmup my old roommate played with me so that must count for something.

Stardust Galaxy Warriors is a very neat shoot 'em up which excels especially in co-op. Sound effects and visuals are solid, the controls are spot on and the soundtrack doesn't get annoying after a while.

Anyone into side scrolling mech shoot 'em ups will have a really good time with this, even although the game is far from being as stellar as its name implies.

Personally I definitely got my moneys worth out of this.

I've had half of an eye on Stardust Galaxy Warriors since it hit Steam Greenlight. I bought it, and my impression of it then was that it was an alright introduction to shmups. I'd hoped to get some of my friends into shmups by playing this with them, but due to my IRL friends being non-gamers, this didn't pan out. I've attempted to get myself through some of the achievements every now and then, so I've put an hour into this game "here and there," and then I put the game down again because I wanted to play something else - I must admit that this game was not made for someone like me. Yet somehow, I keep finding myself playing this game alone, and every time I pick it up I am not disappointed. This game has, so far, been the highlight of my quest through my backlog.

This game is an excellent introduction to this genre of games for a new player - there are recharging shields that make for an incredibly forgiving experience, the bullet density is very rarely too much for a new player to handle on the normal settings, and anything that does an excessive amount of damage is telegraphed very obviously. Never does the game feel like an exercise in memorization, and never does anything feel particularly unfair.

The player is given a very diverse set of tools to handle the challenges that come their way - there's an upgrade system in the campaign that allows players to shore up their weaknesses, powerups are plentiful (and can also be upgraded), and the weapon loadout system allows for a player to choose just about any two shot types they could want. The player also has a sword with which they can quickly hit something in front of them (this is of questionable value). Moreover, there are now five different mechs with different melee abilities and different distortion abilities (think "bomb").

This leads in to the core strength of Stardust Galaxy Warriors: the game is incredibly customizable. The difficulty settings can be tweaked very finely if the player wants, so they can always feel challenged without feeling like the game is unfair. Although this locks the player out of some of the achievements, this is irrelevant: someone who is overly concerned with achievements shouldn't be upset that they can't set everything down to "stupid-easy" and get what they want.

Moreover, the game has local multiplayer, which makes this an incredibly excellent party game. I've pulled this out a few times in this scenario, and I was not disappointed with the results.

I would make the argument that the existence of overpowered loadouts (railgun + torpedo launcher) is kind of worrying, but I wouldn't say it's a dealbreaker for a game with these particular strengths. Other than that, I struggle to find anything seriously negative to say about this game that actually detracts from its strengths.

It is worth pointing out that this is not a game for veterans to play competitively for high scores- I can see someone reasonable giving this game a negative review from that perspective, if they wanted a very competitive game. I don't see steam leaderboards for this game - this is a very good thing, because it doesn't give off the impression that this is a serious game for serious people to get competitive at.

There is something I wish to point out, and this is what spurred me to write a positive review as opposed to just not writing anything at all:

Every time I have played this game, I have noticed that there was a patch or new feature that changed some tiny part of the game. I only play this game every few months, but this would mean that the devs have been constantly improving this game. I have watched this game get custom upgrades, I have watched problematic custom upgrades get removed (triple shot was already a stupidly powerful powerup, and there was an upgrade that let you get triple shot permanently...), I've watched drones become a thing, I've watched the powerups change repeatedly to make them more balanced, and I've watched boss patterns change to become always seemingly fresh. As far as I can tell, a lot of these updates are done quietly, whereas in any other game they'd be met with at least a tiny bit of fanfare.

The top review is a comment on how great the dev team is, over helping someone with a disability play their game. My impression is that this is not even half of the story with respect to how great this dev team is. These devs have worked at this game a lot, and the final product - assuming that this *is* the final product - is incredibly polished.

This is *the* casual shmup to pick up, if you haven't picked up such a game.

I think I picked this game up in a bundle at some point, because I noticed it was sitting in my library but I don't recall how it got there. So I decided to try it. It's a pretty fun game, not the most engaging and replayable in the world but it is worth a few hours of your time.

The game has great visuals, very vibrant and neon-looking, with lots of flashiness to it. Sometimes it can be overwhelming but that's expected in a schmup game.

The soundtrack is fantastic, and very noticeably so. Each stage is complimented with a techno song to fit the mood. Some of the songs are so good that I'm putting them in one of my playlists. Also the shopkeep's song is 10/10.

Overall I'd recommend this game if you're looking for a quick arcadey game to play inbetween other games. You won't get much playtime unless you enjoy grinding for higher scores, but it's a good time killer and a very memorable experience for the 3 - 6 hours you'll get out of it.

Also, try it with friends! It's local co-op up to 4 players. Download Parsec, it's free software that will let your buddies connect to your PC and play co-op games online. I beat the game with 2 friends and we had a blast.
