No.

I splice, you splice 2
One of the best puzzle games ever.
A very simple but enjoyable puzzle game. The presentation is excellent, and the soundtrack is pleasant.
Rad puzzle game with an excellent soundtrack.

Amazing theming and diagenetic UX are great to see but the puzzle design doesn't quite hit the mark for explaining to players why they are succeeding or failing.
This is one of those games that should just be a free flash game, but unfortunately those aren't really a thing any more.
Sometimes less is not more, and what some people might find minimalist and artistic, is in fact, just annoying and obtuse.
It is difficult to understand what is going on in this game, from the controls, to actually solving the puzzles. Eventually you find your way to the bare basics control list, but even then there is a severe lack of a tutorial. I suppose the name of this game is trial and error, but to be honest, I don't find that very fun or entertaining.
I played and did as much as I could stomach, to try and get my money back out of this game. Thankfully I bought it on sale, unfortunately I bought it on sale a long time ago, so the window to refund it is long gone. Because I would refund this game if I could, in an instant. I like puzzle games; I hate this game.
Don't buy this game.
Doesn't really hold up
This game was on my wishlist for over a decade and something caused me to finally pick it up during a sale. Fun abstractish puzzle game about positioning cells, especially once the powered cells come into play. Visual presentation and UI are excellent, just navigating the menu is pretty enjoyable. Unfortunately the soundtrack could use some more time in the oven- gets repetitive and annoying especially if you get hung up on a puzzle. Recommended on sale since it is fairly short.
An excellent puzzle game with a lovely soundtrack that reminds me of the tv series Fringe.
Hey come play our new experimental game. Er, we are not going to tell you how to play...heck, we're not even going to give you a single tutorial, but we will take your money.
Oh, and have fun....if you can.
That sums it up. I'll never buy another Cipherprime product again.
Great soundtrack with a curious puzzle game attached to it
This was a very enjoyable puzzle game. The mechanics were completely unique compared to anything I've ever done before. Takes a lot of effort to get my brain to think in terms of shape pattern, and order of cutting and duplicating. I think the learning curve is pretty steep and you sort of fumble around before you get a feel for how things are permitted to be cut apart and put back together (and the game explains none of this) - so if you don't have patience for trial and error, you may give up too quickly on this one. But if you stick it out until it starts to make sense, it can become very rewarding to get to where you can intuitively figure out the next puzzle. And then very soon afterwards the game will throw an even harder challenge at you! So really this keeps you thinking all the time. If you like puzzles because they make you think, and you want to try a puzzle mechanic that's totally unique, then this should do it for you. I definitely recommend.
Fajny pomysł na rozgrywkę.
game overall is a too repetitive and easy.

Extremely challenging and interesting puzzle game with a really relaxing soundtrack. 10/10
Spliciest game of all the splicy games I have ever spliced. Due to intense splicing, the person may suffer from spliciness so doctor's recommendation is advisory especially for people above 150 years old. Basically, in this game, you have to splice the splices splicingly leaving no splice unspliced.
I would have played this game again and again just for it's music. The game is relaxing and the piano only music is something really enjoyable.
A unique idea, but overall I didn't enjoy solving the puzzles enough to go beyond the 15th level or so. The controls and visuals are kind of awkward.
Splice is a puzzle game that’s a bit hard to explain. Basically, you need to manipulate genes in order to reach a specific structure in a certain number of moves. One core concept is the use of binary trees, meaning that each parent branch can only have a maximum of 2 children.
You splice genes or entire sections and move them around the “tree”, with additional mechanics added throughout the game. Like I said, it’s hard to explain it with words alone, and watching a gameplay video gives you a better idea of the core gameplay mechanics.
It has nice music and graphics, but what I appreciated the most was the way everything transitions, even from the menus to the levels themselves. It’s seamless and really cool.
The game has 77 short levels, however they take a bit to complete because the mechanics take a while to figure out properly, and it’s not an easy game. Some levels have an extra challenge to beat them without using all the available moves. A guide may be useful at times.
It’s a cool game if you enjoy puzzle games, and something I can recommend on sale. It has achievements and cloud saving, but no trading cards.
The other negative reviews about this game data farming you are right. 2022 and this is still happening. Stay away.
Good puzzle game!
Awesome concept and game, need to find display settings.
I feel as though it's over engineered and under performing...
A very minimalist game that over designed and made things unnecessarily completed just for the sack of it. The menu and lack of explanation is awful and detouring to the common peasant. Additionally I'm seeing a lot of comments in regards to analytics being sent out? Data mining without consent sounds additionally fishy.
They're better games out there, the pricing is very disproportionate compared to the content.
Pros
- The music is very well done and really the only redeeming factor I can see.
Great for boosting your abstract and spatial thinking
Hmm. Interesting game, Splice. It's not my usual fare; there are no bombs, guns, guts or pink guns with which to decimate my enemies. What we have here is a puzzler. Not just a puzzler, but an incredibly difficult one. Don't let my 100% achievements fool you - I've used a guide from about the midway point because, as it turns out, I simply don't have the brains for this game.
Maybe you do. Maybe you are able to visualise what will happen when you rearrange cells, and how that will impact the structure. Maybe you understand the concept of cells and their children in this game. Perhaps then, this game is for you. The music is pretty nice, and the cells have a nice, satisfying wobble. Jiggle wiggle. Wibble wobble. Some of the epilogue puzzles are exceptionally challenging and I'm sure brainiacs with be thrilled.
I'm not a brainiac. At least, not what it comes to puzzle games.
Probably not at all.
But you might be.
Get splicing!
Unique puzzle game, unfortunately it just didn't click with me. I was waiting for it to get fun and it never really did.
Great puzzle game (I used a walkthrough the whole time lol)
Mixed. I enjoyed the music, but the game overall is a too repetitive.

very good! very challenging!
Fun relaxing puzzle game
This is a great brain puzzle game. It's not easy, but won't drive you insane off the hop. Each level introduces new cell mechanics gradually to get you accustomed to the dynamics of the game. Elegant in its simplicity.
A cool, quick puzzle game. In the Epilogue the puzzles start to get a bit counter-intuitive and require a lot of trial and error, but still worth playing through most of it.
I have to say that Splice has been one of the most interesting boring puzzle game I have played this year. Like without a doubt the mechanics of Splice work for it, and it really is quite challenging to figure out how to fit everything together and planning moves ahead of time. The main problem with Splice though is that it feels more like a lengthy mini-game than an actual game. Everything is barebones, tutorials , music, and menus. If the presentation was any better, or things were a little fancier I would certainly consider this a more interesting game to play, but as it is, it would have been better as a mini-game.
Nice puzzler that gets really hard in the end, I gave up on the Epilogue levels. It's a bit of trial and error in the beginning but after a while you get the hang of it and it mostly clicks. Not much replay value.
Puzzle?
Chill and challenging puzzle game with a hypnotic soundtrack. It starts off easy but will have you scratching your head by the later levels, especially if you're going for "Angelic" status (finishing in less moves than usual) on the applicable levels.
Overall a neat and unique puzzle experience.
Fun and challenging puzzler!
I got Splice out recently for a replay (because after 5 years I don't recall any of the solutions :D ), and realized I haven't given it a recommendation. Let's do that now.
Splice is a minimalist puzzle game, unique in its mechanics and its presentation. You need to re-assemble and evolve microbiological organisms using very few mechanics, and also very few moves. Every level specifies the number of moves you can make - although the moves are only for assembly / disassembly, the evolution moves (split, extend, delete) are free. You can reach "angelic" solutions on several levels, which means you complete the level with less than the budgeted moves.
It's really easy to evaluate Splice - the visuals are sparse but immersive 3d, the music is superb, and the challenges are tough - especially if you're looking to complete the angelic solutions. This is a gem from the early period of the indie revolution - if you like brain exercise, you don't want to miss it.
I love minimalist puzzle games because a game from 2012 can still be a home run!
Splice does everything right: an original yet simple puzzle mechanic, impressive visuals, a fitting difficulty curve, and this may be just me but PERFECT music. I loved speeding the music up using "redo" to make it sound like an intense boss fight. The later levels get very challenging especially to find the Angelic solution.
Great game. The mechanics are very simple but you will need a lot of grey matter to complete everything. The visuals are pleasing to the eyes and the music is magnificient.
trash
amazing logic game
Bought this years ago with a Humble Indy Bundle. I've logged a LOT of hours on it... mostly on my phone... because it's an extremely fun game. No timed levels, just brain-twisting puzzles and one of the best soundtracks in the industry.
I don't like it. This game could have been so much more. Instead its awful. If only the main gameplay was explained then players could have some understanding of what is happening. But for some reason no. Game developers who build puzzles and end up only making bare bones nothings like this don't deserve paying customers.

Game 100% is data farming you, no warning, no option to disable/turn this off, f this dev, uninstalled and refunded.
If you liked Auditorium or Crayon physics then definitely get this. Calm puzzle with soothing tones. A brain scratcher of a puzzle game. Easy to pickup, easy to put down. Nice filler. Good before bed. Good challenge.
sound designer is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ genius.
Great and really fun puzzle! Thank you!
Yup, enjoyed that for a second time around after a bunch of years.
Amazing soundtrack
If nothing else, get this game for the soundtrack. It's 7 pieces of gorgeous piano music; absolutely beautiful.
It's an okay puzzle. I don't know (or care) about data tracking stuff, but you might wanna look into that. There are tons of puzzle games on Steam, you should have no trouble finding one which won't track you.
As a game it's fine.
An elegant puzzle, from a simpler time
Splice Is a minimalistic puzzle, designed around a small but solid mechanic core. Although it may seem obscure at the beginning, just playing around with the cells leads to a rather intuitive feel for how and when to move around the cells to achieve victory.
A small concern is that the minimalistic design of the game obscures not only the basic rules of the game, but the goal and even what an "angelic" solution is, for the perfectionists.
Even though it's not an appealing puzzle for me, it's a solid game, well worth paying full price. It's also worth mentioning the background music, which is perhaps one of the best of its kind, more than just a few buzzing major chords.
Pretty cool puzzle
Wonderful game to wreck your brain with.
It takes some time to get used to the controls, but even after years of not touching it, I was still able to grasp it in a few minutes on the lower levels.
And if the Linux version gives you headaches, go to the properties in your Steam Library and force it to run the Windows version via Proton - works like a charm.
nice puzzle game
Very good puzzle game with soundrack that doesnt soothe the game.
I like this game and most of puzzle game fans will also.Has unique look, nice graphics and moderatly challenging puzzles.
The negative part (this is nothing major or something that would ruin the game) is that the music just doesnt soothe the game,it is a piano but the rythm is too fast and the track is repetitive. These developers need to make better choices when it comes to music in their games because this game suffers from the same problem as Auditorium.
All in all a good puzzle game well worth your time.
Good
Great music.
Puzzles get harder and harder.
No tutorial, just straight in and gotta learn what to do.
Good stuff.
The most common puzzle. Screenshots perfectly convey what to do. Using a small set of actions you need to get the final one from the initial structure. Unfortunately, the levels are either too simple or too complex. In the end, no pleasure from the game.
Relaxing music and an easy to learn puzzle system. I got this as part of a bundle, but it's a good time sink for an hour here and there.
Relatively "short" but very enjoyable puzzle game. Music is great, and the introduction of new mechanics is kept at a steady pace. Though I felt the difficulty curve jump a bit too quickly during the epilogue sequences.
Managed to complete all puzzles as well as the perfect solutions. If you got a weekend or week spare. Give it a go.
Nice game. Until you have reached a level that you can't complete.
can get brain bending
Starts off hilariously, solve-it-on-accident easy, but later becomes a huge pain with poorly explained mechanics and lots of weird, inconsistent-seeming rules. Making a good puzzle game takes a bit of genius... Splice does not have it.
Absolutely gorgeous! I. LOVE. IT!
Once you know what to do, it's a pretty fun game. (ngl I had to look at a walkthrough for like 2 of the levels)
I played this game on phone and was a great time killer, I bought it again on PC not just for the game but also for the soundtrack. The soundtrack is so good, its GODTIER.
The game also is great, fun puzzle game, challenging especially if you are trying to get the angelic solutions (solutions with the least amount of moves). Great fun all around.
Very low key and relaxing puzzler. Excellent music and deceptively complex despite rather simple mechanics. Pick up on sale.
thanks sean
Splice is a hidden gem among puzzle games.
Every level has the same goal - to place cells into a given pattern in a very little amount of moves. Despite the fact that rules of the game are very simple, one needs to well understand principles of cells' behavior to master the game. Spatial thinking might be helpful there. There is no space to feel repeatibility. Two similar-looking levels usually require completely different steps.
Finding a solution in few moves might sound easy at first, but then the difficulty of Splice increases gradually with a progress of the game and in the end it gets quite difficult.
When it comes to the amount of levels, it is okay - completing them all left me with a satisfaction and did not make me tired of playing.
As for the aspects other than gameplay itself, there is a simple yet effective graphics. The way the cells move gives a nice feeling of working in some kind of liquid. The impression is intensified by an ambient lightning and a noise effect.
This, plus a wonderful piano soundtrack make the game to be perceived as a calm and relaxing.
Splice is an unique and outstanding game that I highly recommend to everyone.
Even though it is a puzzle game, it is easy to relax with it and enjoy it.
It's an ok puzzle game with an interesting unique mechanic and plenty of depth. The graphical fidelity is good enough and a nice piano score plays in the background.
Only annoyances:
- Horrible main menu, no volume control, no settings menu whatsoever
- Puzzles can go from incredibly easy to frustratingly difficult in an instant. This can take you out of the flow
- Sometimes puzzles have multiple solutions, but these aren't allowed due to taking too many steps to solve it. I wish there was a bit more leeway on this, on some of the puzzles

Like all of Cipher Prime's work, Splice looks and sounds absolutely gorgeous. However, I just can'twrap my head around the mechanics of these puzzles very well.
Great game!
Irgendwie will man Splice mögen.
2/5
Simple, relaxing, and at times challenging. Most the strands are easily solved with spacial reasoning but I found an analytical approach helpful for those that were too complex to manipulate in my head (ymmv).
Yah.
Lack of VOLUME CONTROL ruins the game. Having to hear the music blasting full volume constantly is lazy software development.
Beau jeu, belle ambiance.
Mais 10€ c'est trop.
Pouce bleu en période de soldes !
A unique and challenging puzzle game with smooth aesthetics and nice soundtrack.
Sweet visuals, neat puzzles, GREAT music
Nice style but boring gameplay.
Plusy:
+Relaksująca muzyka
+Średnio wymagający gameplay
+Dobra grafika
+Ciekawe mechaniki wprowadzane stopniowo
+Gra działa bezproblemowo
+77 coraz trudniejszych wzorów
Wady:
Plain and simple graphic, but challenging puzzles.
