We are getting close to 1.0 but Soulash 2 still feels very unfinished.
The game lacks any element of story generation found in other games, 99% of interesting stuff happens when you create the world. NPCs serve only as guides and workers, doesn't matter if they are part of your settlement or even family member.
Crafting system was for me one of the most annoying parts of the game, NPCs have a really hard time reaching a high crafting level before they die of old age. Can't craft anything myself because of the potential system, having a skill cap on the total level sucks. Gear upgrades also seem pointless when i can't find a single npc with high enough skill. I skipped 100 years and still feel stuck with my old gear.
Another big issue is horrendous RNG, hard and extreme POIs can still give you trash items.
Maps could use a major rework. Navigating elven or dwarven city is frustrating.
Sometimes a building doesn't spawn at all so NPCs would just stand outside the city and do nothing. I found over 1 year old post about Metalbenders being bugged and it's still not fixed. Gathering resources is always exactly the same, copper iron and other ores always spawn in a cave on ground level.
Soulash 2 has a solid foundation, but it needs a lot more time in the oven. Wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle.

I've put 20hrs into it and I can see that the systems are all underbaked.
The combat system is just a small step above basic. There are only few skills and most of them are just "hit harder than usual". Weapons seem to be just different sticks doing slightly different damage, damage types hardly matter and aren't logged well in the combat log. Magic is somewhat underwhelming.
The skill system feels boring. When making a new character you select 3 skills as your specialties. That means they have a higher skill cap which means potentially unlocking more things. Except the first problem already arises there as no matter who you become you'll have to make use of at least 1/3rd of all skills anyway as they're universal. Another major problem that makes skill progression feel so unrewarding is that a particular level up might only grant some stupid decorative buildings, and by decorative I do mean that they do absolutely nothing. Another level up may give an attribute point, but after some time spending them feels more like a nuissance rather than a nice level up.
Another thing I'm just sick of seeing are the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ elves and dwarves. They suck, they're unoriginal and most of the race choices ingame feel trite. You have small people that reportedly live to 300yrs, skinny people that supposedly live 500yrs and bear, lizard, big green, small green and hyena people that all have lifespans comparable to humans. The only ones I quite liked were the ash-bone people, and the fungus people. Apart from a superficially different building style none of the choice feel much different.
The gameplay itself boils down to watching "doing something"-bars progress. At least I felt I was mostly managing actions and watching bars progress. Apart from that run into an enemy to defeat them or you straight up run away. There's not much deliberation to it, like I'd expect from roguelikes suck as CDDA or CoQ or ToME or such. using Magic felt particularly awful because it's a mix of running away fast enough and managing stamina - yes, this game uses stamina for magic and everything else, no mana - and to try and cast a spell every now and then. The aforementioned stamina system seemed interesting and novel at first but it's definitely too restrictive at least for most of the manual labour tasks. It's mostly a nuissance.
The NPCs feel awful to interact with. They are little answer dispensers standing around, waiting for someone intelligent to ask them a question. They don't stand around, no, they do run around in a somewhat convincing simulation of life, but they have no personality, no real dialogue, no story, nothing. They only dispense where this or that craftsman or merchant are.
There's also a building system. As I've mentioned earlier a lot of unlockable buildings are only decorative useless barriers. The system for building feels awkward to use, and there doesn't seem to be much reason to use it. I however didn't get too far into it, because, in order to make a settlement into more than just a homebase, one has to upgrade it to at least lvl2, which requires 2.000 or 4.000 gold. When you start out as a new player you'll immediately be able to tell how hard it is to get to 100 gold. This isn't accelerated later in the game. Am I just supposed to grind for hours to get to see what the game has to offer after that upgrade?
There's also a crafting system. As with everything I've already complained about, it is just as half baked. This crafting system's gimmick is that you can use for example different types of wood to make an object, giving different bonuses depending on whether I've used maple or pine wood. The differences seem minute, and getting the different ingredients is hard. There also aren't a lot of crafting recipes. Crafting a lot of objects also means watching a lot of bars progressing, again. *yawn*
Considering the latest version for this already has a fairly high number, I don't think a lot is going to change until full release, and apart from that, it doesn't really matter. Early access has become a pet peeve of mine, and it was a mistake made against better judgment that I bought into another one. Just because it's early access doesn't make it exempt from criticism.
I have really enjoyed this game, especially the combination of an open world rpg with settlement building, while there are a few rough edges here and there the game is in a completely playable state right now even though it's in early access, can't wait to see what it becomes in the future!

It is super easy to lose track of time playing this game I rarely leave reviews but the potential for this game is super exciting I love the way the world works and the direction it is heading in.

This game starts out as a rogue-like RPG then switches to becoming a civilization builder essentially. In the first part of the game you gather resources and try to stay alive while building a home base. If you die, you can start over as a new character in the same world with your home base and resources still intact. Once you level up your base you get the option to recruit people to gather resources, craft, and reproduce automatically. At this point the game becomes a lot of resource management and setting up trade routes as well as new colonies. If that's your thing go nuts and stop adventuring.
That said, you do have the option to play this game in any way you want. I personally like it as a more solo endeavor where I opt to not recruit villagers. I like my rouge-likes and this gives it a lot more of that kind of feel as I can just focus on adventuring and levelling up my gear/abilities without having the tedium of setting up whole villages and managing them. I also like that resources are scarcer this way as once a village is established it sort of becomes an infinite money glitch and at that point resources are in unlimited abundance as long as you can find someone selling them.
If you want the best of both worlds, you can set up your civilization and then retire your character to a peaceful family life and then roll a new character as a pure adventurer. If you want a more pure rogue-like experience you can forgo any kind of home base and just try to stay alive as long as you can(I personally like at least having a chest to dump my resources into). If you just want to build a civilization, grind out some cash chopping wood and start constructing.
I don't really know what I expected grabbing this game, but this blew it out of the water. The start was a bit difficult to get into, but after learning the basics and getting a game plan for what I wanted to do, trading specifically, I got more into it and eventually tripped face first into a pit, where I died. It had a -lot- of rats.
I got to that same place again, stronger, better geared, and more cautious... And died again. Third time I was entirely overprepared, and wiped the place before continuing... And then going from a Hard to Extreme, which had a good amount of enemies I could handle in groups of three, only to find the boss with over twice the health, hit three times as hard and stunlocked me for a solid 4 turns.
And I'm still probably going to go back when I feel strong enough. Because the game has charm, and I still haven't really interacted with entire swathes of content. Highly recommended, though I do have my issues with the game. Mostly how much time it takes to do some things, like cooking, which doesn't seem to get reduced by any stats, take way too long, and the aforementioned difficulty spikes.
This game is super fun and can be quite challenging with the perma-death mode. You will lose characters, but it is very rewarding to finally thrive with a character that survived.

If I had to describe this game in one word it would be: peaceful. There are lots of skills to learn and places to explore but the whole experience feels peaceful and relaxing somehow. I think that's because the developer is really good at making things feel very intuitive. It's easy to learn the game without any guides, although those can certainly help. But you can really just pick up the game and start playing and you'll figure everything out. I chose to play Dark Fantasy mode which means character death is permanent but the world remains. My first two characters died relatively fast but I found myself excited to start my third, with what I had learned. Very pleased with this purchase so far and well worth the money. Haven't played any other games quite like it.
Charming game. It's an updated version of the old ASCII RPGs with many features and mechanics. May seem intimidating at first but its pretty easy to get the hang of. The generating and advancing world adds endless gameplay.

Чтобы вкачать первого компаньона и дальше лидерством баловаться. А без лидерства(А соответственно компаньонов) строить поселение - боль моя дырка задница

The Game is 'ight, but there's a lot of "Almost there" in this game. I like the setting, the presentation, the races, the general vibes. All of it is very, VERY, almost there. With a few more updates, I think I'll come back to this game with genuine enthusiasm.
Not recommending this game on principle, I can't get through a single guide or review without hearing the screaming of basement dwellers lamenting the attacks of the "woke mob" and "gay nazis". I also get the sense the Devs have either provoked or tacitly encouraged this behavior, and if you're trying to cultivate a community of losers I'm not going to recommend your game to others. Nobody should have to dig through the sludge of the culture war while reading guides.
In the current state I cannot recommend the game, I am hoping to be able to change my review at 1.0 release.
Too many systems are hobbled together with puzzling UI decisions, frustrating AI decisions with zero visibility as to why. I really enjoy this game when playing it from an RPG perspective, but it falls flat on every other system the developer is wanting to deliver on. The complete lack of QoL makes this a chore to play, and not in the fun way like some other rogue-likes where the experience gets smooth once you learn all of the strange hot keys.
Fun exploration and crafting game, excited to see where the updates take this. Hoping it gets some political intrigue along with the wars like Crusader Kings 3 or Bannerlord.

This is a survival game. You play to establish your bloodline and conquer territory. There is no room in the equation for luxury sexual identity indulgences.
Play it. Try not to die. Try to live long enough to have a family and protect them. Try to leave your children with advantages that let them get farther than you did.
That is the game.

Ok. The game itself is good, the dev is updating constantly almost every month which is a good thing. The only downside is that.... the game itself is in a bit barebones. It has a bit of everything like adventuring, recruiting companions and even settlement building (which i have really high hopes for future updates), but everything all has a impression that it is yet unfinished. Maybe if we wait a couple more years, this game would be one of the best roguelike game that tick all niches. The steamworkshop mods are there but not a lot of mods really, i recommend you just adjust the game json files by yourself if you wanna fullfill your needs. btw, the settlement building is really fun so i wish the chad polish dev focus on updating that even more. It would be more fun if there is another option of making the enemy settlement into ruins and earning instant gold when you conquer them. Historically, medieval armies pillaged and ravaged towns and cities so it would me more immersive if there would be a way to play "EVIL" (for rp purposes obv)
So, I discovered this game due to the rabid leftists that screeched about the developer. I decided "well, I guess I'll try the demo at least" and then I enjoyed it, quite a bit. From there, I played about 2-4 hours ish, at a guess. Then I decided to buy the game properly, and I've really enjoyed it. Probably one of the top games I've bought recently, partly because the game doesn't hold your hand at all, and partly because its systems aren't given to you on a silver platter. I would like to see an encyclopedia of some kind that can be used for reference rather than the tooltip system, but that's a personal thing. If that does exist, It's possible I just haven't noticed it yet. My first few runs ended in complete failure, and rather than use the provided ironman modes, I decided at a later point to delete those worlds myself as I learned new things. At first, I would rush a lot, tending not to think about what I was doing beyond the bare minimums. The only things I've really had to look up is where to get certain marriage items, and that's provided on the game's youtube channel if you look for it. There are some things I wish were easier, but for the most part the game's difficulty level is at an acceptable level to me, both in terms of pace and difficulty. I would like something like an "XP Tonic" or something to that effect that might only be useful for a single level of like leadership or something, but make it a very rare drop from the chests or something. A secondary method to level that isn't forcing someone into either: Starting with leadership, leveling archery, leveling construction, or necromancy. All of these, other than leadership, tend to be later into their trees, and can be difficult to get to the required levels on a young world, if it's possible at all depending on how the world generation has progressed. I love the upgrade and crafting system, I think it's very interesting that the game allows you to change the metal of a favored sword to keep it with you through the game. I don't usually use that, because I personally challenge myself to use looted weapons (personal favorite is the banana on a stick that one of my mages found). Another change that would be nice would be making it so your race can affect how fast you learn things in a settlement, because an elf can in theory reach the apex of their life far easier than a human or goblin would. It isn't the biggest issue, it's just a little strange that they're weighted the same to me. I could be wrong about that, though. Most of my runs that actually reach the settlement stages have been elves, so I can't say for certain there is a system in place for that. Anywho, Artur, if you read this, I'd buy it again if I could. Only reason I haven't bought the first game is that I'm not in the best position at the moment to do so. I'd give the game a 9.5/10 probably, it scratches a lot of itches that most modern games are afraid of even touching now.
