I think aesthetically this game looks cool and sounds great but it feels very unfun to play, I understand the monsters are the gimmick, but having to remember and keep track of 7 or 8 different monsters with like 3 or 4 variations each becomes somewhat overwhelming.

awesome game, 99% of the difficulty comes from it obscuring what it wants you to hit (theres 14 different enemies almost all with different inputs) once you get past that though its fun for the most part, only complaint is the insane skill gap between medium and hard

I have to lean towards negative, while its not exactly disingenuous, it feels that way, enemies have set ideas, yellow is one more hit than usual, red is a different rule than normal, but the issue is the enemies are the music bars, meaning it is extremely hard to parse anything, some enemies you need to realize long before they get near the bar (red harpies) in some songs swordmans stack meaning you better have counted the sword sounds, this being stacked with the regular difficulty of a rhythm game, normal mode feels bonkers after about halfway through.

bosses on the other hand are a complete shift down in difficulty (with the exception of the last one which I refuse to touch on hard).

meanwhile the mini games are an odd mix, some where straight forward feeling but others felt like guess work (mainly the photography one)

Its hard to give either side of the review but I feel like there is too much to go for personally
memorize the song, the enemies actions, what colour is the enemy, traps are even a thing (normally though it is somewhat reactable, or just repeating current pattern), off beat enemies (which if the board was constantly moving would be easier to react to but it can cause overlap and mess mentally due to everything moving on the beat normally) its just a tad too much added, it's fun don't get me wrong, but if you want a rhythm game find another, music is great though.
If you are going to play it I highly recommend you remember the accessibility settings in case you need to reduce some settings considering how sick it made me feel.

I love it.

Though the charting for higher difficulties is a bit all over the place. I bought the game loving rhythm games; however, when you don't know the charting at all, it doesn't feel natural. In other games, what gets charted is kind of standardized — but here, at high difficulty, it's always whatever, which can throw you off a lot. It's kinda like playing the whole song in bits, and with the memorization you already need to do on what notes do, not knowing what the note refers to in the song is kinda confusing.

It's still really good — just feels weird on the charting. It's like whatever feels most important at that moment is charted. Not sure if that's explained well.

Buy the game though. It's good.

so far the best rhythm game i've ever played, it had both a story mode and amazing library of workshop content to keep players invested. the graphics are stunning and well animated (maybe too much eye candy for some) but that can be adjusted on the settings.

it runs butter smooth and crispy on Steamdeck OLED, a "must pick" for traveling sessions

Love this game. I've always had a hard time getting into rhythm games, but I really enjoyed this one from the start. I'm not very good, but I still keep playing because I enjoy it and have actually found myself slowly getting better and better. This game has a lot of great music that will get stuck in your head (in a good way), an optional storyline to follow with the music from the game and some fun minigames, but you can also just play whatever you feel like on different difficulties. The daily challenges are always fun too. Plus they have some fun DLC's that add some more songs to the game! Over time I'm getting more and more full combo's and I hope I can keep getting better and better. Definitely recommend this game if you like rhythm games!

Played on my dinky laptop, my steam deck, my desktop--works well on all. Workshop support is awesome. I wish there was a way to tinker with some of the sprite settings in the menu--sometimes the visual field becomes overwhelmed with the sheer size of the sprites and some negative space and possibly even border colors would help my eyes.

เป็นเกมจับจังหวะที่ยากที่สุดเท่าที่เคยเล่นมาแล้ว ถึงแม้เกมจะดูเหมือนง่ายเพราะมีให้กดแค่ 'ซ้าย' 'บน' 'ขวา' (มีปุ่มพิเศษคือ 'ลง' เพื่อแทนกดทุกปุ่ม และ 'Spacebar' เพื่อใช้โบนัสพิเศษ) แต่ความยากของเกมจะอยู่ที่ตัวโน้ต(หรือก็คือศัตรู) ที่มีหลายประเภท และหลายสีมากๆ แต่ละตัวในแต่ละสีก็จะมีพฤติกรรมที่แตกต่างกันไป ต้องใช้ความคุ้นชินระดับนึงถึงจะเล่นให้ผ่านได้

นอกจากโหมดการเล่นปกติแล้วก็จะยังมี มินิเกม และก็สู้กับบอส (รวมๆมินิเกมก็ยังเป็นเกมจับจังหวะเหมือนกัน แค่เปลี่ยนบรรยากาศเฉยๆ) เกมสามารถเข้าใจได้ง่าย มีภาพและอนิเมชั่นที่สวย น่ารัก มีโหมดฝึกและคำอธิบายให้ทุกอย่างอย่างชัดเจน

ตัวละครที่เราเล่นได้จะมีแค่ตัวเดียว (เลือก/เปลี่ยนไม่ได้) สไตล์ของเพลงในเกมส่วนใหญ่ 90% จะเป็นแนว Music instrument (ไม่มีคนร้อง) นอกจากเป็น DLC หรือ Custom จาก Workshop

โดยภาพรวมเกมก็เป็นเกมจับจังหวะที่ดีมากเกมนึง โดดเด่นในสไตล์ของตัวเอง (แต่อาจจะทำให้มึนหัวได้ เพราะรูปแบบโน้ตที่เยอะจัด) ถ้าจะเล่นให้ครบทุกเพลง (แบบผ่านหมด) ก็น่าจะใช้เวลาประมาณ 4-6ชม. เหมาะสำหรับคนที่คุ้นเคยกับเกมจับจังหวะอยู่แล้ว และชอบความท้าทายใหม่ๆ ส่วนตัวแล้วระดับ normal ยังผ่านยากเลย ยังมีระดับที่ยากมากๆกว่านี้อีก T^T

Достойное продолжение крипты некроденсера. Прикольный сюжетец, прекрасная визуальная составляющая, великолепные треки - причём как оригинальные, так и DLCшные. Если вы фанат ритм-игр, вам зайдёт, но может показаться довольно-таки примитивной.

Ну и если вы пройдёте игру на все ачивки, то вы реально ебанутый, ибо я не знаю, кем нужно быть, чтобы пройти хотя бы один уровень на невозможной сложности, в ремикс-режиме и абсолютно без ошибок. (⊙_⊙)

Как человек который увлекается музыкой с детства и обожает ритм игры - эта стала для меня большой находкой. Очень люблю здешнюю стилистику, сам концепт и связанность этой части с прошлым проектом разработчиков. Есть локальный сюжет, прикольные босс-битвы и конечно же.. КУЧА.ДОПОЛНЕНИЙ.И.КОЛЛАБ.
Обычно я не всегда покупаю DLC к играм, но последнее вышедшее DLC с музыкальными треками из моей любимой игры Va-11 Hall-A заставила меня передумать... (Кстати очень рекомендую пройти эту визуальную новеллу, не пожалеете.) Ну и в целом здесь очень много контента на свой вкус и цвет. А если ничего для себя не найдёте - то добро пожаловать в Мастерскую Стима) Очень много талантливых игроков перенесли разные по популярности треки и песни от которых можно кайфануть. Выбор прям большой, так что точно найдётся что-то по душе o(￣▽￣)ｄ

This game is great! If you are having difficulty with the calibration, I suggest that you make sure that you press the button after you hear the the noise as per instruction. I was pressing it ON the beat and it gave me severe issues because it was setting the calibration based on the previous note. So: beep then press. not press on the beeps. I also messed around manually 50-60 ms on a wireless controller. I would start there if you are having problems and just fine tune it.

Amazing Charting community, Amazing collabs (god i love unbeatale so **** much), and overall AMZANING game with just, lots of style ad content. The music is a jam, and honestly, with custom inpts...you an literally D a n c e to these songs (seriously, i dare you all to try doing it with a DDR pad i swear) it is GOOD.

my cons?
-there's...still some difficulty with some modes, the normal gameplay in story can be harsh, and whileeeeeee the game is willing to let you skip if you fail some games enough times, i kinda do admit to wishing there can be a option to skip em. From the start, by adding a lill checkbox before starting story and say "hey, this game has obviously tight timing rhythm games but if you just wanna play the songs, you can " but honestly...its not that hard, for some. (plus they fixed that one issue with one of the minigames to now ike, properly sync so its probably a lot easier for you than it was for me)

any other cons i contribute to me just not having a powerful enough pc but its good enough.

A worthy sequel to Crypt, I love that it uses known enemies and their attack patterns but in a totally different play style. It's really fun and feels amazing when you get better and start to learn the song structure, but it's also insanely difficult so you have to like a challenge and repetition. Most of all you have to love rhythm games!

The music is top notch! So many different tracks that are fun to listen to and learn. It's important to take the time to calibrate latency because it sucks if it's off even by a little bit. The DLC songs are great too but it's expensive if you get them all. I love the collaboration they do with other games on the DLC.

I play Remix mode a lot because it forces you to adapt to different enemies every time, and the minigames are fun. The story was fine although I don't remember it (I didn't pay much attention in Crypt either). The characters are fun and I like their differences.

A wonderful game in the Necrodancer series, and incredibly hard! I'm able to complete several songs on hard now, but will I ever be able to do them on impossible? Hell no, I don't have the will or the time. But it's very rewarding to finish even on medium. Another awesome adventure with Cadence and the crew!

com certeza um dos melhores jogos de ritmo ja inventados

a unica parte meio ruim é que o preço das musicas de dlc é um pouco salgado, mas isso não afeta muito pois o jogo tem suporte com o steam workshop e tem milhares de musicas customs muito boas, ou se vc quiser também pode chartar as proprias.

It's a great rhythm based game with a variety of amazing tracks. The story mode was a great start to learning how the game works. You don't have to start with the story but I would highly recommend playing some of the story (even though its smaller than the daily challenges and rifts.) The boss battles and mini games is a nice change of pace compared to how the rest of the game is played. The characters and art style is wonderfully designed I know Candace is the main character but I would love to be able to play as others. After finishing the base tracks some of the music packs are worth trying my personal favorites are Super Meat Boy's Bootus Bleez, Hatsune Miku's Intergalactic Bound, and Pizza Tower's Unexpectancy, Pt.3. If you are not interested in said content or you're looking for something new or out of the box. The community has a lot to offer. It offers a ocean of new songs, experiences, blasts from the pasts and well known songs. It is astonishing work that other people have created things such as nice jokes and others where the sprites, rift effects and background match the aesthetic of the game itself.
I would highly recommend giving it a try but If your interested but don't know if you'd find yourself liking the music the soundtrack is on Spotify. (or you could also play the demo...) My personal favorites are Amalgamaniac, Glass Cages, Under The Thunder, and Brave The Harvester Inside and out of the game.

If you expect a "classic" line-based rhythm game, I suggest against playing Rift of the Necrodancer. The whole game design is centered around obfuscating information, which is unusual for this genre unless you go to harder difficulty maps or use modifiers.

The main culprits are the monsters, a.k.a the notes. Apart from the basic Green Slime and White Skeletons, every monster has its own behavior. They can be separated in two categories : the "ghost notes" and the "confusing patterns". "Ghost notes" are monsters that will require multiple hits to kill, thus "creating" a new note you have to hit on the next beat. They require you to predict their next move depending on the type of the monster. Using the first monsters as examples, Blue Slimes will need two beats of the same note to defeat, while Bats will move to the side on the next beat. "Confusing patterns" are monsters that will move while they are going down the track, and you need to predict on which note they will be when they reach your line and/or when they will reach your line. For example, Zombies will move diagonally (some warp around the line, some bounce on obstacles) and will take one hit to kill, while Knights will stop a few beats early and dash to your line, skipping some moves. So, you need to remember which monster does what and react accordingly. Usually, line-based rhythm games will restrict the amount of note types to prevent confusion, but Rift has 9 different notes (not counting foods) and almost all of them are centered around the idea of making it harder for you to know which button to hit and when.

Where it gets harder is that a large majority of monsters will have their behavior slightly altered depending on their color. Bats will all move to the side they are facing, but Red Bats will change the side they are facing on each hit while Blue and Yellow Bats will keep facing the same direction. Green Zombies will bounce on obstacles/the walls while Red Zombies warp through the walls. So you can easily get confused if you base your reflexes off of the monster's shape alone. Plus, sometimes, the colors don't seem to follow the same logic for every monsters : while both Yellow Slimes and Yellow Bats require 3 hits to kill, Yellow Skeletons only require two ; Red Bats change direction each beat they're hit while Red Zombies will keep going the same direction. If we count each color variant as its own note, we reach 27 note types (+4 foods).

Then, you have the half-beat notes. Normal notes will be shown as a circle shadow under the monster, while half-beats will be shown as a diamond shadow. The way half-beat notes move is confusing to me. It's hard to explain. These notes use the same spaces as normal notes (instead of being placed between two notes) but move at the next half-beat, making some kind of "wave" visual. Very cool to look at, but it short-circuits my brain.

Finally, the traps/special tiles. I won't go too much into details for those : they basically change the behavior/position of monsters that pass through them. It adds to the obfuscation of everything.

All of this makes the notes harder to read. A lot of people in the reviews seem to not mind (I'll even admit it makes the game original compared to the classics), but to me it makes it not enjoyable. I have to think a lot about what I'm seeing instead of being carried by the music, turning the game more into a memory+reflex game with groovy background music slapped on it than a rhythm game. Because of that, I think we can't truly say Rift of the Necrodancer is a line-based rhythm game. It's more of its own genre ; which is not a bad thing, but is also not what I expected when I saw the UI.

There is also a lot of visual clutter (everything moves all the time). But, good point for the game, you can deactivate all of this in the menu. The options are pretty granular (you can deactivate only monster movements, or only the background, etc etc) which is very nice.

Now, the minigames and the bossfights. Minigames will have you repeat movements by following changing rhythms. Bossfights will make two circles appear on the screen for each note, one full with an arrow inside and one bigger, hollow and getting smaller. You'll need to hit the arrow when the bigger circle overlaps the full one (kind of like the classic mode of Osu but with directional buttons instead of clicking the circle). At the time I'm writing this review, I finished the second bossfight. Unfortunately, I disliked the minigames and the bossfights even more than the song sections. It boils down to the background music not helping at all. For these, I had to completely go off visual cues. Minigames will have the characters move to the beat, so you can still use their rhythm to guide you, but I found the two first bosses's rhythm to be harder to read.

On the bright side, I liked the fact the characters are actually smart. They could have made the characters dense for plot sake (like, without too much spoiling, not recognizing an obvious pattern), but they made it so they use their brains and I'm very happy about it. I also liked some of the songs and the characters designs, and the UI is very nice looking.

Un jeu de rythme original et très beau !

Graphiquement, les personnages sont agréables à regarder, on aime leurs petites réactions selon si on à un bon score ou si nos pv sont bas.

Une petite histoire pas particulièrement riche mais agréable nous permet de découvrir les morceaux 1 à 1 par échelle de difficulté, accompagnée de mini-jeux qui sont amusants à faire.

Le gameplay m'a vraiment marqué, on apprend petit à petit comment battre tel ou tel monstre et ça rend les parties vraiment dynamiques et plaisantes. Là où dans d'autres jeux de rythme on appuie simplement sur des touches carrées ou colorées, ici ce sont des monstres aux aspects différents qui nous font face, ce qui rend la piste vraiment variée selon les musiques qu'on joue et ne donne pas une impression de bête tapis roulant comme j'ai pu le ressentir dans d'autres jeux. On prend plaisir à abattre les ennemis plus coriace d'un coup plus appuyé sur la touche et personnellement, ça me fait ressentir le tempo de la musique encore plus fort. Je ne passe pas une seule heure de jeu sans bouger sur ma chaise au rythme des musiques !

Du côté des musiques, ce sont les goûts et les couleurs. Vous pouvez aller écouter leurs OST sur youtube pour savoir si c'est votre style.

En terme de durée de vie, le jeu est techniquement infini. Vous avez la possibilité de créer vos propres pistes, et il y a toute une communauté qui créé en permanence des nouvelles musiques sur le workshop !

It's a good game.
I'm not good at rhythm games whatsoever and learned how to play within the first few hours, It's just difficult to get into and that's why it's a very positive instead of overwhelmingly.

If I had to choose something to dislike it would be the fact there's tons of DLC and it's all overpriced, but that's a story for another time and I'll wait until they finish supporting the game to give my full thoughts on that.

Rift of the Necrodancer is a fun game with amazing original music. If you are a big fan of it, you can be certain to never run out of content as developers keep communicating with the audience and releasing dlcs while the community makes fun workshop levels. Would recommend to anyone who likes rhythm games

Приятная ритм игруля, разброс монстров которые тут представляют собой ноты (хз как ещё назвать, не ведаю) нормальный такой и требует некоторого привыкания, плюс который скорее всего минус, не так много контента, но это лечится воркшопом который тут присутствует. Но всё равно берите по скидке.

Сюжетка была пройдена за 5 часов, остальные 5 часов заняли кастомные треки в режиме невозможно, где все вдруг начинают хреначить хардбасс.
в мини играх вы начинаете чувствовать ритм вашего замедленного сердца в надежде что вы пройдете мини игру с фулл перфект.
в боссах вы будете видеть своего пьяного отчима, и мотивацию сыграть ему по морде гитарой только усилиться.

Very fun game. I've played a lot of mania-like games, so I decided to give it a shot. It's quite different. At first sight, it might look easy (it only has 3 buttons and the notes don't rain on you like a machine gun) but then you realize it's, in deed, very challenging but in a different way. Every note is represented by a an enemy, there are a lot of different enemies and each one moves different across the tiles and has a different way to "be killed". You have to learn the patterns of each enemy and process in real time what buttons you have to actually press in order to successfully clear the level. Different from osu!mania, for example, you can`t simply turn off your brain and flow. You can't loose focus or you'll die just because you forgot that the blue slime has to be pressed twice, or the red zombie jumps across the tiles, or the harpy moves two spaces at once. I truly recommend it because it's been a really fun time playing it. Also, if you are experienced with rythm games, I suggest you to start playing in hard difficulty. GLHF.
