A game of this style and dialogue not flowing smoothly, like it takes a little bit sometimes to load and process what will happen?? lol
Other than that, there's no a clear way to save your game/progress. Others complain about that too, losing progress because of auto-save doing silly things.

Да, гача, да, есть донат, но проходить всегда всё можно любыми персонажами (Свитхард мой мейн). Отдельное спасибо за добавление Игоря, я ждал его с самого первого синематика и показа в сюжете. Если вас не пугает большое количество текста и вас не отталкивает карточная система боя (меня отталкивает, но здесь почему-то эта идея уместна), то попробовать определенно стоит. Ждать ли Русский? Хороший вопрос, игре уже много времени, но раз добавляют множество русского колорита, может будет и Русский язык, так ведь?)) Играл на пк с руссификатором (есть платный и бесплатный). Если хотите попробовать сюжет, попробуйте бесплатную версию, там весь сюжет переведен, в платной уже всё остальное - скиллы, истории, предметы и тд (НЕ РЕКЛАМА, мне не платят, просто посвящаю в подробности).
Оценивать игру, которая вышла давно странно, но скорее всего оценка где-то между 7/8 из 10, по причине не всем может зайти стилистика, а также большое количество персонажей не выделяются внешне, что не то чтобы приятно. Попробовать всегда стоит, выбор за вами.

I had my time with this game and even enjoyed it a fair bit up until the finale of Main Story's first season or volume or whatever else those are usually called in gacha games, which left rather big elephant in the room unadressed which felt so baffling that I lost interest in continuing.
To put it short, game's plot revolves around reoccuring calamity called Storm that kills all people on Earth and then rewinds time backwards. A number of magic-weilding [strike]wizards[/strike] arcanists - our protagonists & other characters that we collect - have means to avoid it and try to stop it while periodically being dragged by it back in time. This happens twice during 1st volume, but after the second one we arrive not further back into the past but into the future - from 1914 into 1990. And here's the elephant in the room. 1990 we arrive at looks as if mass extinction event that we witnessed twice before in the past, relative to the point in time we arrived at, never happened. And NOBODY questions nor addresses it, not even Regulus who is supposed to be in the same boat (hehe) as us, the player, in regards to knowledge about the Storm. It's such an obvious question - why does 1990 after (almost) all humans died in 1914, looks the same as 1990 if it didn't happen? Who made the technological progress possible, who repopulated the Earth, why isn't that event recorded in history and so on. But instead of seeking answers, we are sent to investigate magical hippy market with San Francisco biker gang.
A couple other minor gripes I have are that unconventional character designs which this game was/is being praised for are really limited to 5-star characters, whom you will simply not use after getting a bunch of highest rarity 6-star ones, whom at first included a few outliers, but nowadays are either a beautiful lady, a cute girl or a handsome guy - just like in other gachas. After all, it is waifus and husbandos that sell, not weird stuff like ghost who lives in TV or literal Sputnik. Another one is the gameplay, which was simple yet satisfying at first, but over time have stacked pages and pages of flavor texts and modifications that are a headache to keep in mind and play around.
I wish this was not a gacha game, because what IS there - concepts, characters, world, art - could be pretty great, but it all gets brought down so much by usual shortcomings of this "genre" such as dragged out story with barely any real stakes and a constant need to reiterate in order to sell new characters.

23 hours in just 3 days, this game is absolutely breathtaking! Stunning visuals, stunning characters and music. I love it! So sad i havent started playing it earlier

I was initially very impressed with Reverse: 1999. The art direction, aesthetic, and overall presentation are outstanding. The game has a distinctive style, and its narrative delivery often feels closer to a visual novel than a traditional gacha RPG, which is a strong point.
However, the gameplay design significantly undermines this experience.
At a certain stage, the game introduces a mandatory challenge with heavily restricted conditions: a fixed, underpowered team, severe HP limitations, and a strict failure condition if any character dies. This removes player agency almost entirely and turns the encounter into a trial-and-error scenario with a narrow, non-obvious solution.
The issue is not difficulty itself, but how it is implemented. The game shifts abruptly from a relatively accessible, story-driven experience into a highly constrained and punishing encounter, without adequately preparing the player for this change. This creates a disconnect between the game’s presentation and its mechanical expectations.
Encounters like this feel less like a test of strategy and more like solving a predefined puzzle under opaque conditions. As a result, progression becomes frustrating rather than engaging.
It is unfortunate, because the game excels in its artistic and narrative aspects. With more consistent difficulty design and greater flexibility in gameplay, it could offer a much more cohesive experience.
Masterpiece. 10/10. Peak storytelling, peak art. I find mobile version to be more enjoyable.
I don't play this via Steam due to problems opening it years ago and now use the official launcher, but I still want to write a review on here and recommend it from the bottom of my heart.
The combat may appear simple at first, then during the tutorial overcomplicated and then simple again once you take a look at team synergies. I never bothered looking up how to play certain characters and just used what felt right out of intuition built off of similar games. After I finally took 10 minutes to look up a tutorial I gained so much fun and a appreciation for it, it became one of the highlights of the game for me.
The art/visuals are absolutely stunning and none of the designs ever miss. The game has characters of many different nationalities and times in history and writes them into the story seamlessly.
The intended language for R1999 is English and it is very apparent. The characters all have accents fitting for their nationality and time and every voice actor knocks their roles out of the park.
As this is a gacha game, I'd like to point out that every 70 pulls is a guaranteed 6*, lower than many other gachas. The rates also feel like they are higher? If you don't get the character you want it is nice to know that every update gives a huge amount of premium currency, a free 10 pull and there's a staggering amount of currency you can get through various resetting game modes. And even if you still haven't gotten them, they rerun pretty soon and all characters will join the standard pool after only a handful of updates. (There are some true limited characters that will not join this pool but they only come out very sparingly and have a much longer run-time with much more premium currency given out in these events.)
I've started playing in 1.0, didn't vibe with the combat and left after an hour of trying it out. After some time away I tried it again and truly fell in love.
I can't recommend this game enough :)

like many gacha games - this one is not cheap.
unlike many gacha games - you get more than a bit for your coin.
and you get some decent ammount of freebies, to actually play the game and see (hear and well enjoy) enough of the game to decide "to pay or not pay"
visuals, sounds, voices, stories - all is very well done. events (plenty) and minigames are solid too. normal content is doable, hard content is present and reasonably challeging.
game has very active discord with events and extras.
teambuilding is interesting, partially complex.
only "negative" is FOTM - standart gacha elements are clearly present: newer characters often are more powerful or enable certain OPnes in others, plus obtaining/whaling multiple copies of said character increase their power considerably, so spending will give power.
there is an upgrade-system for older characters (every major patch few such are introduced), so some of the "oldies" can get their time to shine again once in a while.
fun but alot of details and gimics
It's a visual novel with undemanding minigames. It was fun, for quite a while. The Voice acting is excellent and so is the art. The story captivated at the beginning. but it can get very longwinded at times. and damn do i hate being held hostage by long tutorials for braindead minigames. if you make me learn it, at the very least challenge me with it...
As all gatcha go, the narrative will eventually give way to marketing new characters from gacha eventually. Like all things free, this too comes to an end where you've been intentionally made to build up a daily habit - just the rewards keep drying up, putting you into dopamine withdrawal.
I mean, there's worse and more insuffarable gacha out there. This is like a thumbs up for a lesser evil. or a wolf in better made sheep's clothing.

I'm completely new to the game, but I can confidently say it's one of the most exquisite gacha games I've ever encountered. A breath of fresh air. The art style and character designs are spectacular and beautiful, harkening back to the era they originated from, which is heartwarming for someone like me who's fascinated by the fashion of previous decades. Unfortunately, I'm not too immersed in the game's story, but from some snippets, I can tell it's deep, alluding to historical events and modifying them to fit the game's plot, and quite sad and dark at times. Not every turn-based combat style captured my attention, but after a few hours of play, I must admit that it was quite satisfying and enjoyable.
Finally, I'm pleased that this isn't another gooner bait gacha game, the characters aren't objectified, and although some of them may be charming with their assets, it's not about showing off nudity or provocative outfits, but rather about the elegance and uniqueness of each character.
Better than Hoyoverse and Kuro combined. Would be happy if collab with Limbus and Nautika is my daughter :heart:
One thing’s for sure: this game has a strong story, gorgeous art direction, and a cast of characters you actually connect with. Vertin, the main character, is genuinely likable, and the rest of the cast each leaves their mark on the plot in their own way. Unlike most gacha games, you’re not forced to care about just one character or stick with a single favorite until the end. The atmosphere is mysterious, the story is unpredictable, and the developers have done a great job tying everything together into a neat, cohesive narrative. So far, I haven’t seen any plot points that feel messy or out of place. Now, here’s the one and only reason I don’t recommend this game: the gameplay. The combat system is painfully barebones. When I heard it was card-based, I was excited only to realize it plays more like an AFK simulator with almost no depth. Sure, there are moments where you need to think a little, but compared to games like Slay the Spire or Hearthstone, it’s shallow. Honestly, the gameplay is mediocre at best. That said, if you can move past this flaw, This game is phenomenal. The atmosphere and themes are incredible, and if you treat it more like a visual novel with gacha elements and using auto-battle to breeze through most stages you’ll enjoy it a lot more. Events are well done, and while power creep exists, that’s just part of the genre.
In short, for those who don't want to read the rest of the review: the story, art, and vibe are fantastic, but the gameplay drags it down. Thanks for letting me vent. But hey, at the end of the day, it is a free game and I can't be complaining.
Игра на удивление неплохая. Захожу ненадолго, слушаю классный сюжет с озвучкой, выхожу, и когда снова захожу через месяц-другой какие-то награды дают. Уже 4 леги, хотя в игру я не особо играл, да блин я третьего уровня карл! Думаю серьёзно взяться за сюжет, меня на этот раз затянуло.
Очень понравились акценты и разные языки в диалогах персонажей. Эстетика и графический стиль божественны.

Very fun to play, a little monotonous at times, but the characters are all so entertaining and the story is engaging. Easy to simply sink your teeth into it as a casual player or go all in as someone who wants to go to endgame.

Even if you find the story hard to understand, the character design is still beautiful. You can find fragments of yourself in every character (I especially resonate with Regulus! That and I'm British haha...). They are bold, unique, and the voice acting is excellent to boot. It's free to play, so give it a shot. You won't regret it either way.

I tried this game out cause I heard different languages within the game like Italian, Russian, etc. in a random stream which I thought was really cool
But as I first tried it out myself... Ahhhhhh not my kind of game. The art and story is very girly.
However I hear the devs are kind and are very generous, so I won't say mean things about the game.
The battle system reminds me of Black Book which is neat.

Easily the best gacha game I have ever played, and it makes it SUCH a shame that it's overshadowed by the rise in vast, open-world gacha games that don't have as much soul as this. It's generous in it's rewards for just logging in and playing a little bit every day, and I don't feel pressured to buy anything at all, I'm just enjoying the story. For English speakers--the voice acting in the first 2 chapters or so is going to be so, so weird, and I beg you to keep going. I've heard the translations get better in the newer chapters, I'm only in chapter 3 so I can only speak to the fact that it's improved since I started and likely will only continue getting better.
For those of us who only make decisions based on one thing: every character in this game is gay.

Story is 10/10. I also play WuWa, ZZZ, Genshin, HSR, AKE, NIKKE, DNA and Snowbreak. This is by far the best story, with Genshin being close second. Gameplay is mindless to be honest. If you love visual novels, download this game asap.

Прикольная игра, интересный сюжет, но разрабов или отдел продвижения покусали Yostar Games, которые также не добавили русский язык в оригинальную арку.

I really enjoy the game. I like games with a good and well-written story, which r1999 definitely has. I am also someone who have found myself enjoying some gacha games. I recommend it for someone that either enjoys story and don't mind the gacha aspect of the game, or that tends to find themselves enjoying gacha games. especially ones that also have a well-crafted world and story.
If you aren't a fan of either story games OR gacha games, I wouldn't recommend this game. If, however, you are someone that could see yourselves enjoying story and/or gacha (the two main focuses of r1999), I would recommend the game.
I really enjoyed the artwork painterly, with my enjoyment of the character designs being what initially made me download the game. The music is also phenomenal, and really sets the tone throughout the story chapters.
I have found the gameplay enjoyable. I only really have three main problems with the gameplay, which aren't too big of issues anyways. One, I think that thecombat can get a little complicated for a beginner when first using some of the 6-star characters, as the descriptions of their incantations (combat actions) can get somewhat lengthy, especially compared to th more common 5-star characters' incantations. Two, The grind for when you reach levels of about insight 2 or higher can get quite lengthy and monotonous, which I know is quite a non-issue as games like these tend to have at least some grind to them so that players can level their characters or have something to do while they are caught up with the story. Third and last, a small quality of life feature I would suggest the developers add is a way to choose wether you want to finalise your round or not. As of writing this, as soon as you assign your last action point, the game automatically finalises your turn and the combat plays through. This has led me to make a few mistake that I only realised once my turn had already been finalised. Adding a button/input that the player would need to do would mean that there's more room for planning what to make. This isn't as much an issue (well it is) as it is just a quality of life feature suggestion.
all in all, I reccomend the game if you have found yourself or could find yourself enjoying story-rich and/or gacha games. Otherwise, maybe look elsewhere.
