Very cute game, and definitely worth full price if you're into occult history or smaller games in general.

The game does need a final QC pass (UI consistency, terrain gen, minor dialogue bugs) Hopefully that all comes in 1.0 soon

Please keep working on this game! I love everything so much, but its incredibly buggy. I have gotten physically stuck several times with no remedy but to quit without saving. Action prompts stay stuck on the screen. Areas I've explored previously become inaccessible through designated paths.

I want to preface my review by saying I love Reka. It is gorgeous, with a very specific art style that works very well, a lot of mystical, dark, dramatic visuals, and I love the extensive folklore and characterization of Babayaga. The villagers are sometimes a bit lackluster, but it just balances out that they're essentially NPCs and we are the main character learning about the world and ourselves. I also love crows, so their inclusion made me very happy. The building and furniture you get, and the chicken house, is a lot of fun. I'm glad they added new clothing too because I enjoy it, and having pets in your house.

All that being said, I love Reka... when I can play it. Other people have included in their reviews that the game starts to lag after a while and that is a thousand percent true, unfortunately. It always gets to a point where I can't even see anything properly and the screen tearing starts making me sick. I close out, I reopen, after a little bit it does it again. I have changed all my settings, I've put it on super basic and it finally will work a little longer, even though it looks like garbage - and it will still eventually start lagging again. Once they can fix that issue, I'll be good. There are other bugs (I did have a road floating in mid-air) but this is the only bug that makes me truly unable to play the game. It is still a good game so I will recommend it, I will just also warn to maybe get it on sale or give them some more time to improve it.

This game is probably abandoned. It had a good concept and some of it is enjoyable, but it's a bug riddled mess. No meaningful updates in a long time.

I wouldn't say this is a kids game or anyone who doesn't like magic. The game is unique and has it's own art style which isn't dark but also not light and fluffy. You're a young witch learning the art of magic and building your witchy home, gardening and there are many things to do. Explore, help villagers, animals and spirits. I like the story so far which takes time to go through but I like that I'm not rushing through it and getting to the end right away. Learning a little at a time makes the game progress in a way that is immersive. There are bugs to be worked out but report them so they can be fixed. I haven't had anything game stopping. If a villager is sitting backwards in a chair, laugh, talk to them and they turn around. If a villager is missing, it hasn't stopped the game progression and most of the scenarios can be repeated in the next area if you haven't got to the next learning stage of the game.
I can't wait to see more lore and learn more as the game gets more added. I hope to see more things you can do with the animals that you have carried home, like feed them! The deer won't shut up about not having food. :D

I really wanted to like this game like many others because of the interesting folklore theme. I do think for positives, the decoration is more custom than I thought it would get with the house and the decorations are fun and cute, but doing any exploring and quests felt so bland to me. I keep thinking to revisit this game and when I do I just cannot stay on it for too long because I get bored and the performance is poor no matter what settings I mess with. Maybe one day it will improve but it's been awhile and I haven't seen any major improvements.

While I do overall like and recommend this game, I have to add the caveat that at the time of review (early 2026) it's NOT finished and you may want to wait a little while before buying/playing. It has a lot of bugs and needs a lot of work. It's early access for a reason. At the rate of improvements so far, it's probably more than a year out before it's at a stage where I'll personally want to put any more hours into it.

That said, this game is DELIGHTFUL. There are a ton of furniture items to decorate your chicken-legged house with, there are loveable characters and complex characters, there's interesting slavic witch lore, and, of course, magic!

I'm really excited to see the future of this game and I hope the devs are putting good work into fixing the bugs, polishing rough spots, adding QoL features, and extending the storyline. I really want to see this game take off and reach a lot of people once it's more finished!

I was super hyped for this game when I saw it initially advertised. The first few hours I played were a blast, but then issues with lag and bugged out quests began. The lag especially made the game difficult to play and enjoy. My husband believes there has to be some kind of memory leak. I would get maybe a little over an hour in then would have to save, exit and give it a few minutes rest before signing back on. That issue alone would be enough for me to not recommend this game to others, but the more I played the more it seemed like the whole game is half baked. I understand that at this point it's STILL considered early access, but after a couple years I would hope to see some of these really basic issues ironed out instead of more aesthetic stuff released. The NPCs clip through the ground and the deer took a page from the book of the Spinning Cat meme. There were two quests that were totally broken, and in my research seem to have been that way for a long time now. After the third chapter Baba herself seems kind of pointless; there's very little dialogue or guidance she can provide you with. The lack of direction became an issue for me, too, as I enjoy having some kind of clear objective. The NPC dialogue was all recycled lines, and the trader fell really flat in his interactions as well. I wish there had been a separate yard area that would pop up for the garden, and would love to see the building mechanic expanded into a third person mode. The ability to sell excess decorative items would be helpful too. I am disappointed because I have loved Slavic mythology forever and was hoping to see better integration of that here given there's a genuine wealth to draw from. I won't delete the game as I am really hoping we can see some positive changes here upon a full release. If so I'd be happy to give it another go and amend my review then.

O jogo é bom, a história e progressão dos acontecimentos são interessantes, tendo totalmente a gameplay focada em história e construção.

Em alguns momentos você vai aprendendo novas habilidades conforme vai avançando pela história, completando a missão de cada mapa.

O mapa, assim como as missões são randomizadas toda vez que você vai para uma nova área do jogo, então, em termos práticos, você terá missões infinitas de NPC's e as missões limitadas da história principal (que ainda está em desenvolvimento).

É um jogo que você vai gastar a maior parte do seu tempo coletando recursos para construir a sua casa e fazer itens para completar as missões dos NPC's, além da exploração do mundo aberto randomizado para coletar cosméticos ou itens para adicionar na casa.

O jogo é Cozy game, então atualmente não tem sistema de batalha ou ação, os mapas são basicamente florestas com uma vila pequena ou grande, com os NPC ja pré definidos com as respectivas falas, então tenha isso em mente caso for testar o jogo.

A customização é bem limitada para o personagem (simples) e os NPC são repetidos em questão visual e em falas, então vai chegar um momento que você vai sempre ver a mesma pessoa toda vez que você mudar de localização no jogo e na maior parte das vezes realizando a mesma missão de buscar itens ou criar.

Outro ponto a se citar é que não tem tradução para PT-BR até o presente momento, então tenha isso em mente se vai querer comprar o jogo.

Após finalizar a história principal, você fica no modo "sandbox", então o jogo vira um "free roam" com as mesmas missões de NPC os quais você já decorou depois de 4 horas de gameplay

Em resumo, o jogo compensa caso você busque algo tranquilo para jogar e passar o tempo, sem ter o "compromisso" de entrar no jogo para fazer missão diária ou eventos.

[h1]REKA – Great theme, but too much friction[/h1]

I bought REKA at launch because I love Baba Yaga folklore and games inspired by it. I really wanted to like this game, but after revisiting it more than a year later I still can’t recommend it.

There have been some improvements since launch, especially with onboarding, but the core problems remain.

[h2]Main issues:[/h2]

[h3]Performance[/h3]
Even after a year, performance is still rough. The game only becomes reasonably playable after lowering many graphics settings, which shouldn’t be necessary on modern hardware.

[h3]Movement[/h3]
Your character slows dramatically when near buildings or your house. It feels like walking through mud and makes basic movement frustrating.

[h3]Dialogue[/h3]
There is far too much dialogue, and most of it adds little value. Clicking through every sentence becomes tedious quickly. Quest information could be delivered much more clearly and concisely.

[h3]Resource Gathering[/h3]
Constantly needing to re-equip crows from the radial menu just to harvest resources interrupts the gameplay flow.

[h3]Radial Menu[/h3]
The radial menu is awkward to use with a mouse on PC. It feels clearly designed for controllers and is frustrating to manage with mouse input.

[h3]Building System[/h3]
Building feels clunky and visually confusing. It’s difficult to use and lacks the clarity and smoothness seen in other games with similar systems.

[h3]Cooking Friction[/h3]
Even simple tasks like cooking add unnecessary hassle. For example, needing to walk around to the back of the stove to add fuel while your character is already slowed near the house.

The idea and atmosphere of REKA are great, and I really wanted to recommend it. But too many core systems add unnecessary friction, and after more than a year the performance issues remain.

For now, I can’t recommend it.

Players who enjoy slow-paced exploration games and are willing to tolerate rough performance and clunky systems for the atmosphere and Baba Yaga theme.

This game is really cute. It definitely deserves better than mixed reviews. It's still early release. It can be a bit repetitive but there is charm to that. The house building is better than most base builders I have now. The decorations are awesome too. The abilities are unique, the story line is great. 10/10

The game feels like its in early alpha testing and not early access. The game is wonderfully cozy and once its fully out or at least a little more updated it will be great just not right now. the land generation is funky half the time with roads and trees floating, the people in the villages will all spawn as the same character with the same name, sometimes ppl spawn without faces. theres just a bunch of issues with the game that all combine to make it kinda not the greatest to play right now. Once they are fixed itll be great tho.

I will not lie I don't understand people who say this game is amazing. After the 3rd map, I am constantly losing some textures and objects, like whole ass wooden buildings are bugging, and TREASURES WITH THE LOOT also disappear and show up when I look at them at the right angle. This game is 1.5 years old, and to have this many problems, I do not recommend you spending money on it. At least now when it is still in "early access".

I mean, the idea is good, and I had fun on the first 2 maps, but after that the only thing I feel is constant anger and irritation.

I don't think this is a very popular game, but man is it good. The best way to describe it and I am still only a few hours in, but I would say a base building sort of survivor and craft Hogwarts type of game. You are a witch and you build a walking moving base that you can make look really cool and unique. The collecting spells with the birds is just amazing. I wish every game did collecting and gathering like this one does. Totally worth the 20 dollars and if its on sale grab it. You will be glad you did if you like games like this.

Немного поиграла и соглашусь, что оптимизация и прям оставляет желать лучшего. Появился непонятный баг: локация становится полностью чёрной на пару минут, при этому видны значки взаимодействия. Я не умею желать большего, но было бы славно оптимизировать по качеству хоть немного.

Идея мне нравится, люблю Бабак Яг всяких, фольклор и играть за главных героинь, магию, но этой игре требуется доработка, чтобы получилась конфетка

The art style is beautiful and unique in my opinion. The sounds are pleasant and the atmosphere is so cozy and just the right amount of spooky. I'm loving the story and interacting with the characters. I can't wait for it to be fully released. Notes: I'm not sure if I missed it, but it would be neat to be able to create a male/masc presenting character.

The music is amazing, the graphics are stylized and add to the ambience, and the story is so cool! The mechanics were easy to figure out and I love the use of magic in this game! Very fun even in this early state! I'm super excited to see where this game goes from here!!

Pretty cool, atmospheric cozy game. I wish there were Steam achievements for this game, it's open-ended, but there are quests and special items to find in each town. Looking around the REKA reddit when I get stuck has helped, but I realized that I missed some important items (like the mirror) early on. Overall, I am fulfilling my dream of being a creepy witch living in a chicken house. Thanks!
