Organ Trail
A zombie-themed parody of The Oregon Trail.

A zombie-themed parody of The Oregon Trail.
I've played organ trail a bit more than my time says, give or take maybe 20 hours on my brothers account... It's a really nice game, just fairly uneventful and easy. What? easy? How can you say that!
The game, really does not have stuff happening frequently enough and the gameplay loop is in all honesty, a bit tedious at times. I'm personally more of a fan of the driving and the resource management and, unless you're going slow, stuff just does not happen. I almost exclusively play on hard difficulty and it really is just easy. Right now, in my playthrough, one guy got out of the car and got bit. Alright, i guess there is a BIT of difficulty but it's not *really* difficulty - it's just rng screwing you over because it felt a little funny.
The scavenge and defend missions are borderline snooze fests. Just don't be stupid enough to go out when the mission says the zombie population is anything higher than normal. Personally i go up to high because i want to feel challenged but the game just is not challenging. If anything, the hardest part is when you defend from either a horde or bandits behind the sand bags - not because it's actually hard but because aiming with the mouse means dragging it down and it's just uncomfortable.
The achievements are bugged so that's another minus - and you know what to do in that case with a certain samsung mascot soundalike. It's really annoying.
However, at the end of the day, the game IS fun and clearly a work of art and for the price, i think it does a decent enough job to justify it's existence as things stand. Music is great, bosses, the rare times when they do show up, do keep you on your toes and if you find that combat tactic where you find more money than anything else, you've essentially trivialised the entire game if you're willing to grind some scavenge missions the moment you buy it.
I think a 6/10 is reasonable. Mediocre, but has it's own style and I personally like it, even with it's flaws (which, if you're an achievement hunter like me, is a big negative) - i just wish events at the road were more prevalent, common and interactive, like the ones with the mechanic and the upgrade - you know, not "Oh bingus has contracted cholera" or "bandit has stolen 90 of your robux" - the proper events should be more prevalent. Maybe at least a guaranteed one every ride between landmarks.
I recommend it. Just don't expect too much. It's the kind of game you boot and forget.
One of the best 2d survivor RPG.
great 8bit soundtrack
This game is just straight-up jank. Not the charming indie kind, not “hard but fair,” just systems that feel broken and abandoned. The core idea is cool and the atmosphere works, but none of that matters when one of the biggest long-term goals — the achievements — barely functions.
You can do everything right in a clean run. Kill the required bosses. Survive. Follow guides. Play carefully. And the achievement still won’t unlock. Not because you messed up, but because the game’s internal counters are buggy. They reset, they desync, bosses stop spawning, and the game gives you zero feedback that anything broke.
What makes it worse is that this has apparently been an issue for years. The only “fixes” people suggest are things like reinstalling, disabling cloud sync, editing files, or using external tools just to unlock achievements that were already earned legitimately. If players have to learn how to mess with game files just to make achievements work, that’s not difficulty — that’s poor maintenance.
If you just want to casually play through once, you might still have fun. But if you’re someone who likes completing games or going for 100%, be prepared for RNG walls, broken tracking, and frustration that has nothing to do with skill.
It’s not challenging in a rewarding way. It just feels like fighting the game itself.

Looks as crusty as I'd expect something on nes or older to be. Games like these would have made the nes have more replayability than mario, dig dug, and et! unless it did, then I am genuinely disappointed in the older generations because no one ever mentioned it!
What this game lacks in graphics, it makes up for in gameplay. But even the pixel art has its own charm! Shooting is a bit awkward and I didn't see an option to disable inverted aiming so I immediately inverted it using steam input overlay. It has some annoyances, but honestly I kinda prefer it that way. If everything was easy and simple, I wouldn't pay as much attention and end up watching tv while I play. I didn't buy this game to be a glorified fidget spinner. That's what destiny 2 and diablo iv are for.
If you have a thing for death road to canada but want something back a generation of gaming, you should seriously give this a shot!
Surprisingly I got immersed in the story even though its just a bunch of pixels. Great presentation.
I absolutely loved this game a perfect take on the Oregon trail games that I loved as a kid. My only issue is the fact that I wanted to 100% it but the achievements are broken so rip if you're brain damaged like me and like 100% good games but if you don't care and want a really well made and fun "trail game" this is it.
Super fun
Broken game with achievements that dont track. Not worth it at all
Buenardopolis
it was good when it was released, but currently the mouse controls are broken
Do you like Left 4 Dead? Do you like Oregon Trail? Do you like old dos games that make you read through the story and everything look like it's a retro screen? If you answered 'yes' to any of these questions, then you're likely going to enjoy this one.
Organ trail is very fun! But eventually you can get tired from it after 20 hours of gameplay. But I like to play it from time to time when I am bored .
it is great game and i hope theres will be MORE stuff but the achivement are a bit wonky for me
This is such a fun game to play with friends over Discord! Even if it's a single player game, we had so much fun just watching one person play while the rest of us reacted to the crazy stuff unfolding (not to mention how funny it is to watch the same friend's character fall victim to an unfortunate conga line of random events). Love it to bits, definitely worth the price (+ the DLC for repeat playthroughs!). Hands down, one of my favorite "party games" for online friends who just want to sit back and react.
As a kid who literally logged a double-digit number of hours on "Oregon Trail," how could I resist?
Played an earlier version way back on Facebook, looked this up on a whim and have not been disappointed.
Do not give to your second grader, however, on the logic that "Oregon Trail" was fine, lol.
OH OH OHHHH ITS A GOOOOOOD GAME!!!!
Good clean retro styled zombie apocalyptic fun. Many good references and callbacks, classic zombie gags.
not sure what possesed me to start replaying this seeing as i hadnt touched it since 2013 but its still pretty good.
It's a simple and fun game with a decent amount of content to replay.
Honestly, nothing special. Gameplay is pretty basic, storyline doesn't have much. Car driving is automated (You can change speed of the car, but that's all there is), all you do in the game is just manage supplies, shoot or run over zombies/bandits during ambushes, jobs, scavenges. You're also responsible for keeping the party healthy, as well as fixing the car. Perhaps I had too much expectations for this game. Controls are bad and lame. The way to shoot specifically. You need to click on a target and pull on yourself for a while to bring up a a very short trajectory that is very inconvenient. I expected this to be The Final Station but driving through USA, not a hybrid between idle clicker and isometric shooter. Also, it doesn't make sense why would the player have a "party". What benefit is there to them outside of final boss battle? There isn't any lore reason to just not shoot them all in the beginning to save up on resources. The base game is a huge disappointment, I don't know how much better DLC makes it, but this doesn't matter because this review is about base game. The overall playtime of campaign + extras is about 3.5 hours. If you're going to buy the base game alone, expect a low quality zombie retro game.
Old school graphics, old school learning curve, plays like a dream, as advertised. 20/10
controller support is a lie and the little bit of the game i managed to sit through was outright boring
A nice little homage to the 1985 version of The Oregon Trail that doesn't take itself too seriously, with lots of references to other zombie media. (The Left 4 Dead references especially are a nice touch.) The Final Cut DLC is pretty much required, since it adds a lot more stuff and makes the game more engaging; without it the game is literally a 1:1 remake of the '85 Oregon Trail game. Instead of selecting a profession, there's four difficulty levels plus an endless mode, so you can play casually or challenge yourself if you wish. I'm pretty sure there's more minigames than in Oregon Trail, too. Almost all the game's graphics are something you could see on an Apple II, and even the button pressing sounds are reminiscent of key presses on an old keyboard.
If I had to make criticisms, I have a couple relatively minor ones: the bandit/zombie deer road events are more tedious than anything, and the final boss literally comes out of nowhere. Also, some achievements are broken and require following this guide to restore functionality. Still, Organ Trail is pretty good and I'd recommend it as a nice throwback and fun twist of the Oregon Trail formula.
It's mostly a fun way to waste some time. However, the controller support claim is not accurate and achievements mostly do not work... so just know that going in.
peak
The Oregon Trail but directed by Romero. It's great and can run on a toaster.
I LOVED this game! I received a key from the devs over a decade ago to make a video for my channel, then my other career took off and gaming got left behind. Well, I'm done with the career and back to YouTube for atonement. To The Men Who Wear Many Hats. THANK YOU! This is for you! Love the game and my only regret is not being able to put something together for you all those years ago. Hope you enjoy!! Part 2 and many shorts to follow!

Unbelievably good. Just be careful with the broken achievements (there are already guides to fixing them). Fun, amazing, engaging and will keep you playing for hours.
Also don't forget to give all the members of your team funny names for a better effect.
Short fun
Good Game
I mean its Organ Trails, Normal is pretty dang easy, I hated the defend the home jobs as shooting controls cramps up my hands.
[Rick has dysentery]
Fun and modern twist on an age-old classic. Not quite as perfected as its predecessor but just as simple and approachable. It's possible to overlook it for the word-play title, but it will serve its purpose as a time killer on a boring afternoon. Worth a sale purchase.
Pretty good value for the money, not a ton of replay-ability.
Imagine Oregon Trail got blackout-drunk, hooked up with a zombie apocalypse, and nine months later out popped this beautifully messed-up lovechild. That’s this game. You and four brain-dead friends hop into a station wagon that looks like it was assembled by a blind raccoon with daddy issues, and you try to outrun the zombie apocalypse before everyone dies of stupidity, starvation, dysentery, or because Todd in the back seat thought it was a great idea to “pet the zombie, bro.”
This game scratches the same survival itch Oregon Trail did — except now the itch is probably an STD you caught from a gas-station toilet seat in Nebraska. You’re scavenging for food, shooting zombies, duct-taping the car back together every 12 miles, and dealing with random road events like:
“Your friend wandered off and got bitten,” or
“You were robbed by a hobo with stronger moral values than your squad.”
But it’s fun. Like, stupid fun. The kind of fun where you laugh, rage, and question your life choices while your car breaks down for the 47th time and zombies are chewing on your taint. Also, you can upgrade your crappy station wagon into a slightly less crappy station wagon. Dreams do come true.
If you want a game that’s funny, chaotic, replayable, and makes you scream at your friends for eating the last can of beans, buy it. It’s Oregon Trail with zombies, dark humor, and the constant looming threat that everyone you know will die because nobody listened when you said “DON’T OPEN THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DOOR.”
Final Verdict: Would scavenging-road-trip-toward-probable-death again.
It's just as painful as the original, don't worry
great game. i'd recommend setting the difficulty to Easy and just going for a ride.
this is a journey of the imagination.
the band making the music did an A+ job.
the gravestones you may come across when scavenging for supplies are left by other players around the world (and maybe you).
great old classic
It's cool, but achievements are broken and progression. I just beat the campaign and it says "beat campaign to unlock Halloween mode" and it didn't unlock. It's October too. Lots of people are complaining about this, but they haven't fixed it so I'm not recommending the game anymore.
Much like the Oregon Trail, not everybody will make it to the west.
Dunno why I never gave this a positive review but I suppose it isn't late to right that wrong.
I've spent more time with this game than I should, but it's really cozy. Name the characters after people you like and watch yourself get attached to the events and scenarios that are going on, especially when things start to hit the fan and you are suddenly forced to do hard choices.
If you grew up playing one of the original Oregon Trail games, you'll be right at home here. This zombie parody originally existed as a relatively simple flash game circa 2010, which is how I first learned of it. The steam release is a massive overhaul, now featuring an original chiptune soundtrack, lots of random events, Kickstarter-contributed gravestones, and more.
At the current price point ($5) this game is definitely worth it as long as you not expecting an extremely serious experience. This is not Dying Light, this is not Project Zomboid, this is a spoof of an educational videogame first and foremost. Like the original Oregon Trail, you will have people randomly develop dysentery and measles, and there's some obvious references to existing zombie media (Shaun of the Dead, Left 4 Dead, etc). Thankfully this game is free of the early-2010s tendency to overplay "lol random!!1!" humor.
If you're not used to Oregon Trail games, here's some tips:
* The "rest" function exists for a reason -- use it if your party isn't in good shape
* The driver (first name you enter) typically does not take damage, except in the hunting minigame, where they're the only one who gets damaged
* You can scavenge food pretty easily, so don't bother buying a ton of it -- but if you run out of food, your party will quickly take damage
* You can't carry an unlimited amount of food with you post-hunting minigame
* If your station wagon breaks down, you WILL be stuck until you can get the supplies you need to repair it
* Unlike the original Oregon Trail games, the time it takes you to reach Oregon doesn't matter very much -- you won't get stuck in the mountains in winter and end up having to Donner Party your friends
There is a little bit of jank, though. Some achievements do not update properly due to a longstanding programming bug, and it seems unlikely the developers will ever fix it. IMHO this shouldn't be a dealbreaker for you because there is a guide in the Steam Community page which goes over how to fix the issue and earn the achievements as expected, but it is a little bit embarrassing that this has been a bug that seems to have a relatively straightforward fix still exists after so many years. Additionally, the leaderboard doesn't seem to load. To the dev's credit, these are the only bugs I'm aware of. I have not encountered any crashes.
Accessibility notes:
* There aren't really any vital sound cues. However, the hunting minigame lasts for a set period of time and does not show a timer, so the easiest way to tell how much longer you have to kite the 4 zombies following you is by listening to the hunting BGM.
* This game's shooting is not "click on that guy's head," it is more like a slingshot. You'll need to be able to click-and-drag a little bit, especially for precision aiming, but as long as you can hold the mouse down for a maximum of like 2 seconds you should be fine. It's still gonna be awkward -- for everybody, regardless of hand ability -- but it's clearly an intentional design choice to balance the hunting minigame while keeping it pretty close to the original Oregon Trail. The very beginning of the campaign has a short section where you are given unlimited ammo and some targets to practice.
* Essentially all UI elements are black, white, or green. Colorblindness is unlikely to be an issue.
There is a mobile version of this game on the Apple App Store. As far as I can tell it is almost identical to the Steam version, but it may be missing some events I'm not aware of. The pixel art of this game looks a little better (imho) on smaller screens anyway, so if you are considering playing this on a Steam Deck, you may want to consider the mobile game instead. The mobile game does not have any of the usual ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mobile game microtransactions. There is also a Nintendo Switch port.
There is a review here complaining about input lag, but I haven't had that issue, even with my crappy $15 mouse. The shooting may feel laggy, I guess, if you're like me (unskilled) and sometimes your hand kinda freezes up, but I've certainly never had lag while fishing.
I would also like to note that you can attempt to fish in the desert. Key word: "attempt."

Survival strategy game with 8-bit visuals. Goal is to get from east to west. Build party and choose starting stats like fuel, food, ammo, money and such. Gameplay consists of watching car driving and occasionally some random event appears. Some are negative like heavy rain which will slow you down or horde attack. Fighting is all about walking and shooting your gun. Try not to get bitten, character can't move while aiming. You can stop car anytime and search for scraps and resources. Every action costs time and some of resources. Make sure to take care of your members and have plenty of food and fuel to drive ahead. Stop in towns to stock on supplies, take on jobs like defending from zombies or bandits. For me game feels a bit shallow and when you get the hang of it, it becomes repetitive. Visuals are basic. Music a bit shallow and drowsy. Overall dong out of ten. Play Dying Light or something similar instead.

Gives you a nostalgic shot if you played old floppy disk era games on PC while making it fresh and interesting. Love it.
When you take the concept of "The Oregon trail" and make it about zombies, what can I say, It's funny as hell.
good spin of oregon trail, pretty fun. didn't realize it was such a long game.
Love thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis game!!
Great game but feels a little empty withouut the DLC
Its not bad. if you want an Organ Trail Experience because your 30+ years old give it a go
Oregon Trail, but with zombies. Splendid.
It's a very short game. It worked fine but there's not enough there to keep me playing for more than 6 hours.
I can't recommend it.
Do I regret buying this game?
No.
It can be fun- when it's not crashing or suffering from extreme input lag.
If you ever played and enjoyed the OG Oregon Trail game back in the day, the art style feels familiar and appropriate as does the general premise of the game.
But again, the bugs and random crashes (do *not* try to look at the Leaderboard, unless you really love crashing games). Weird input lag when fishing or shooting is aggravating, and the terrible aim when shooting is worse. It's a terrible system.
And all of the broken achievements where counters reset if you die or you return to the main menu, or they never advance at all. I shouldn't have to dig through and attempt to modify game files to fix bugs.
So after trying to enjoy the game for an hour, it's just not enough fun to make it worth recommending, or worth continuing to play.
So I'll be idling it for cards and then shelving it for good.
It is my fault- I honestly did not do enough research into the game before buying it, but I did get it at a steep discount. But if I had researched it better to see the many complaints about the aiming system, the input lag, and the broken achievements- I would not have picked it up at any amount of discount. It seems to be completely abandoned by the devs at this point, so hoping for things to get fixed feels foolish.
Pass on this one and go find the OG Oregon Trail game online. It has it's own website and you can play it for free- legitimately (no sailing the high seas needed). Just play that in your browser and get a feel for what dying from dysentery or cholera, or getting run over by a wagon, or drowning while trying to cross a river- over and over- feels like. There's much better zombie apocalypse games out there if you insist on dying by being bitten by zombie hordes- get them instead.
TL;DR- great idea, but really poor presentation. Skip it.
Very fun zombie apocalypse rendition of Oregon Trail. Highly recommend.
I already love this game, and can tell there is a lot of replayability.
This game is a no-brainer! I have played the original Oregon Trail and Oregon Trail Deluxe games, as well the recent remake of The Oregon Trail (also a really good game). I have to say, this game really does a fantastic job bringing what feels like and old computer game to modern platforms with the benefit of more intuitive controls with the controller support.
But it's not just about the technical stuff. The zombie apocalypse theme merges perfectly with this style of gameplay. The inclusion of randomized jobs with different rewards, events, the ever changing moods of the hordes between locations, upgrades to the car, etc... it all ties together to make an extremely cohesive, fun, replayable game.
Plus the mini games. You have more variety in the mini games and the conditions are always going to be different. It does a great job of keeping everything fresh across each play through. This is one of the few games where if I die and have to start over, I just look forward to starting a new run without the frustration of losing everything. It's always fun to to see what's going to happen next, whether you're continuing an existing run or starting over.
And it does all this while really keeping with the core concepts of the original Oregon Trail games. Managing your supplies, keeping your party members healthy, stopping to scavenge, etc. But it adds so much more without actually bloating the game in a negative way.
This game is a homerun, highly recommended!
Noice
is a fun time with people
Organ Trail: Director’s Cut is a darkly humorous, retro-styled survival game that brilliantly parodies the educational classic The Oregon Trail by reimagining it through a post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested lens. Developed by The Men Who Wear Many Hats, the game retains the core mechanics of resource management, decision-making, and travel across a desolate landscape while introducing a slew of genre-appropriate twists. Instead of dysentery and river crossings, you’re now facing zombie bites, car breakdowns, and desperate survivors trying to rob or kill you. It’s a clever blend of nostalgia and grim survival horror that manages to be both hilarious and genuinely challenging.
You begin your journey by naming your party members—usually friends or family for emotional impact—and then setting off from Washington D.C. to reach a supposed safe haven on the West Coast. The goal is simple: survive the trek across America. Along the way, you'll stop in ruined cities, scavenge for supplies, fend off zombie hordes, and make dozens of tough, often morally ambiguous choices. The game is structured as a road trip simulator, and its core loop is familiar: keep the car in working order, manage your food, ammo, and fuel, and try to keep everyone in your group healthy. But Organ Trail excels at turning that familiar setup into a gauntlet of unpredictable encounters and escalating tension.
Resource management is central to your survival. You’ll constantly be trading or scavenging for food, fuel, medkits, and scrap metal to repair your station wagon. Supplies are always scarce, and the game ensures that you’re rarely comfortable. The scavenging mechanic is one of the game’s most engaging features—players must navigate a zombie-filled area in real time, grabbing supplies while dodging enemies, which grow stronger and more numerous as the game progresses. This adds an action-oriented layer to what could have been a purely text- and stat-based game, making each supply run feel like a dangerous mini-mission. The tension is heightened by the fact that your party members can get bitten, fall ill, or even become liabilities if they turn.
Combat in Organ Trail is intentionally clunky, using a drag-and-release mechanic to aim and shoot, reminiscent of older Flash games. While some may find it frustrating at first, it adds to the sense of panic during zombie attacks, reinforcing the theme of being underprepared and overwhelmed. There’s a real feeling of desperation as you fumble for your shot while the undead slowly close in. These moments are punctuated by random events that force you to make tough decisions: do you shoot an infected party member before they turn? Do you risk stopping to help a stranger on the road? These choices are rarely straightforward, and the consequences can ripple through the rest of the journey.
One of the game’s greatest strengths lies in its tone. Organ Trail manages to be grim and funny at the same time, poking fun at both zombie fiction and the overly earnest tone of the original Oregon Trail. The pixel art style, complete with glitchy VHS overlays and lo-fi sound effects, perfectly captures a retro-apocalyptic vibe. The soundtrack by Ben Crossbones features haunting chiptune melodies that reinforce the game's eerie, hopeless world. The game is full of dark comedy—watching a party member die of dysentery after surviving five zombie attacks is the kind of absurdity Organ Trail thrives on. Despite the bleak setting, the game never takes itself too seriously, and that balance of horror and humor is one of its most endearing qualities.
As you make your way west, the game begins to layer in more complex challenges. Cities have jobs you can take on to earn resources, often involving high-risk combat scenarios. You’ll need to upgrade your car, manage radiation zones, and deal with raiders. The progression feels natural, and while there’s an element of randomness, it rarely feels unfair. That said, the game can be punishing, especially on higher difficulties. Permanent death and limited saves mean every decision carries weight, and one bad call can spiral into disaster. Still, these stakes are what give Organ Trail its staying power. The desire to make it just a little farther on your next run is addictive.
While the game doesn’t offer a sprawling narrative, it thrives on emergent storytelling. Each playthrough is unique, shaped by the characters you create, the choices you make, and the random events you encounter. You’ll find yourself remembering moments from your journey—a desperate scavenging run gone wrong, a heroic sacrifice, or the slow decline of a bitten party member—long after the game ends. These personal stories lend the game an emotional weight that goes beyond its pixelated visuals and satirical tone.
In conclusion, Organ Trail: Director’s Cut is a deceptively rich experience that combines classic gameplay with modern sensibilities. It’s a love letter to retro gaming and zombie fiction alike, offering a grimly entertaining ride through a wasteland full of danger, absurdity, and unexpected heart. Though it wears its indie origins proudly and may not appeal to those looking for slick, modern production values, it more than makes up for it with charm, depth, and replayability. Whether you’re a fan of survival games, road trip narratives, or dark humor, Organ Trail is a journey worth taking—just don’t get too attached to your party.
Rating: 8/10
Game is interesting and clever, but sadly it's plagued with bugs. Achievements don't work properly, crashes/freezes are common, and these issues have not been fixed for years. A real shame for a genuinely fun game.
gud game my spoon
Total crap, don't waste your money. Gameplay very limited, I was unable to get it to use my controller, and the worst part is the bizarre aiming and firing system which is a massive PITA and turned me completely off the game. Generally it just feels like you click, things break, you patch them up, continue. Total yawnfest, I was desperate for something interesting to happen.
this game is really damn good. i bought it a while back and recently start playing it to give it a try. I'm a big fan of the Oregon trail. this hit every spot and then some. the references to L4D was really nice along with some of the other zombie media references. the scavenging system was extremely good but i do feel like i get a lot of food through it which is good but almost absurd amount of it. like 2000oz. i also enjoyed the story to it. i haven't played endless yet but I'm planning on doing so.
Great game, the drummer in the sound track is great
please add sex
Great soulful game
This game was Fun and had a ton of references to classic zombie media and other horror media too, which being a crazy zombie fan was awesome.
The game was never hard to beat (if your a zombie fan that knows how to survive a zombie apocalypse) but I will say that the later difficulties was a big chore to get through, due to limited supplies you get from scavenging runs, but it was never hard, just took forever.
the major negative for this game is that the Achievements are broken, the Devs should have fixed it by now so the Achievements still being broken is a major negative, but luckily you can fix them with helpful fix by Ciwix.
A minor negative I also had was the aiming system is a little wonky, you have to hold left mouse button and aim behind yourself and release left mouse button to shoot Zeds in front of you, it had taken me some time to get used to that, but it wasn't a deal breaker.
But other then that I love this game and I recommend it to all zombie fans.
8/10
Fun little game
It's like Oregon Trail, but with zombies!
A hilarious and fun parody of a all-time grade-school classic! The game also has a LOT more variety to it than Oregon Trail itself even had.
lots of left 4 dead references. bery cool
Amazing little roguelike loop, plays just like FTL, everyone loves a road trip, even better with friends and zombies. A few bugs remain though, controller support is broken, also could use a bit more unlockables and achievements. DLC is worth every penny. 9/10.
I love trailing organs
A very fun twist on the Oregon Trail theme.
issues may vary, i've yet to experience any game breaking issues, playing on linux or windows 10.
i'd suggest getting it on sale with the directors cut dlc, adds much more content and fixes some bugs present in the base game.
btw i sold George Floyd into slavery for 50 gas, Jimmy Urine from MSI was stabbed in a heated argument with unc Ruckus, later down the line Ruckus contracted the T virus and died in his sleep.
10/10 game tbh
i don't wish to be to negtive with this game but damn is it frustrating and not in a good way. i think as a concept it is really good but in pratice i run into a lot of issues, with repeating events, repeating errors taking damage in ways i could mostly avoid but sometimes it just takes me out from off screen rushing me out. i would recommend the game but do not recommend playing hours on end like i did, really killed all the fun i have had in the past on my phone. pick it up when its cheap and enjoy it in burst.
Always a fun time, especially when I've got friends over.
Cheers...molto meglio l'Oregon.
Game sucks. It's extremely buggy, was going out on my first run when all of a sudden my save just stopped, game froze. I reloaded and the same thing happened.
The developers need to fix whatever the have going on here before I consider giving this another chance, waste of my 2$ and time.
If you want a game like this play Death Road To Canada it is a much better game, and is generally around the same price when it's on sale, but is overall more expensive, but at 15$, for 3x the price it's a 100x better game.
A great new twist to a classic game. The trail should be lol. Full of action & adventure...I rememberplaying the og one when i was in 1st grade. now this one, is a dream came true. it mind me of those 80's night of the living dead movies. it has that whole vibe to it. well, the whole dead series to tell you the truth. but my god, i absolutely hate the gun aiming controls. they're lock to reverse & you can't change them. it take me forever to get used to aiming in this game. I can only aim if i used the controller & mouse at the same time. Controller to move & mouse to aim. (The only way i can aim with the controller. Hold down left tigger on the mouse, move the cursor around, & release it to aim) I couldn't aim with the controller along 🤣 it was too hard. I still was somewhat hard getting used to aiming with the mouse...but way easier for me than using the controller to aim. Just use keyboard & mouse if i had to give anyone some advice. And that run speed is ungodly slow. But there's perks you can buy to increase it. thank god for the upgrades. I only beat one run so far. but there's a lot of different endings. i beat it on normal so far. I happy there's multiple options you can pick to play at your skill level. I love everything about it. it was fun but man i died in the first 1 min in the bloody game. because i didn't understand the aim (the game doesn't let you move in that area). and that was after i looked at the options to see how to play :( but i got used to it later on. It felt normal after a bit. and yes i died like 3 times in the first 1 min in the game...the aiming dude lol. anyway, i highly enjoyed this game. it was super retro ina good way. so many differnt events & everything worked perfectly. I love the mad max meets the dead series vibe
yes this works just fine on the steam deck
This game is honestly really fun. Its a great idea with an even better execution. Highly recommend this very unique experience.
There are alot of zombies in this game. its pretty cool.
O
I've apparently played "Organ Trail" for a total of three hours (not in a row, mind you), and I've completed the campaign on normal. Did I enjoy the game? Well, I immediately turned around and started a new game on endless mode. The game play loop (to me, at least) is rather satisfying, and I could even see this being someone's comfort game.
When aboard your trusty station wagon, you automatically travel between major stops while random events pop (or don't pop) every so often and affect your stats. One of your passengers could suddenly (and inexplicably) break a rib, ruin a spare car part, let one in the confines of the vehicle, or discover money in their pockets - seemingly anything from groan-inducing to amusing could happen.
In towns, you're able to take any available jobs (which indicate the difficulty and reward), buy and sell, upgrade your car when possible, rest to restore your passengers' health, and go scavenging (preferably when zombie activity is medium or low). It seems obvious to say that you'll pursue what supplies you have fewer of, but what you're hurting for - or delightedly swimming in, resource-wise - depends an awful lot on the random events and how well you manage at the mini-games.
Ah, yes: the mini-games. For the most part, I quite like them, and there's a decent variety to enjoy (or dread). I've already mentioned scavenging (which involves avoiding zombies on a fixed screen while scooping up any supplies that spawn), but there are also purely combat mini-games or random events that get your vehicle involved or put the life of one of your passengers at risk. If you don't enjoy the mini-games, I assume that you won't enjoy "Organ Trail"; though I liked the majority of them.
The mix of levity and horror, simple (but generally fun) mini-games, random nonsense, resource management, and nostalgic graphics made this game very attractive to me, and I've definitely enjoyed all three hours of narrowly dodging corpses, shooting bandits, and contending with the occasional boss zombie. If you give "Organ Trail" a chance, I hope you get that one passenger who repeatedly reads the map upside down, loses supplies, or costs you an hour vomiting by the side of the road - there's always a chance you'll get to put them down after they're bitten by a zombie.
This game is super easy to play and get into! It's such a good game to get lost in when you want to relax.
I enjoyed this game on mobile when I played it many years ago. So when I finally bought this on PC, I was looking forward to playing it again. But when simply pausing the game causes it to freeze and require a restart on multiple occasions, it becomes evident that this PC port is sub-par. This is backed up by discussion forum posts about the years of unresolved game-breaking bugs. As such, I requested a refund after playing the game for 15 minutes. I might be getting my money back, but I will unfortunately never get back the 15 minutes I wasted on this mediocre port.
2 hours for each dollar and I enjoyed it. Good game. Minor complaint:
- Resting could heal the player without having to follow after David from "The Mist", Since it takes up resources regardless.
- I hated the "Friends" (except Clements) and felt like they did more harm than good in more aspects than just food consumption.
- Should be able to sell car parts
As for what I liked
- The scavenging system was a good interpretation of the original and fun on its own
- The shops, whilst sometimes annoying, felt unique and you have to improvise every run off of what is in stock
- The events were fun (though I hated the boss battles, I thought they were also a fun addition even if they ruin my hunting trips)
- The humor in this game does not take itself too seriously.
- The plot, whilst basic, was all that was needed to make me enjoy the game.
- The scenarios are funny (once I had an angry chef mollywhop me because I disliked his food, I won a battery from a cup game)
- The game is good for killing time
Aside from my 3 complaints (2/3 problems can be solved by killing your friends :D), I liked this game. My first and second runs were failures, but my third run was a successful hardcore campaign.
This Game is the Bomb, not only I can live my boomer years from my computer class past, but it's a modern take on Oregon Trail which is super fun, Especially when I can add my irl friends in it for insane experience, that is worth wild. Thank you game devs for making this once in a life time experience. To everyone seeing this review, please give this game a shot, for what is worth you won't be disappointed.
Here is my review for Organ Trail: Director's Cut:
This is a game heavily inspired by Oregon Trail, the 1970's educational PC video game. The gameplay here is nearly identical to that original version. You play as a survivor in Washington DC during a zombie apocalypse. You hear of a safe haven over on the Pacific Northwest, so you and your four party members must make a road trip across the continent. This is an item management game, with a simple shooter mechanic tied on. You must balance your fuel, food, ammo, party member & car health throughout. The driving happens automatically with random encounters triggering throughout.
Periodically, you hit a rest stop where you can trade for supplies or some upgrades. Otherwise, you must scavenge for supplies on your own while the zombies chase you down.
Overall, it's a nostalgia bait game with a zombie coat of paint. It's basically only for folks who pine for the same gameplay they had as a child. I doubt younger players have any interest in this.
Fun game, good additions to the original Oregon Trail formula.
However, the game is unfortunately somewhat buggy, some parts do not work properly for some people sometimes. It doesn't seem to be very consistent in what breaks and what doesn't. Achievements for instance seem to work like they should for me, but not for others.
Genuinely pretty fun game, the management of your party's health and maintaining your supplies is a nice balance that makes it difficult but not unfair. The combat is extremely simple but one mess up can throw things under the bus if youre reckless. I'd say give it a try when you have the chance, it wont disappoint.
A rockin alternate take on the concept of "The Oregon Trail" of long ago, in my shamelessly biased opinion, this is more than twice as fun to play!
This game was clearly made with love and care, though take caution it's not completely bug free. I had one run where I made it to the final battle trying to get into Safe Haven but blew it, then managed to claw my way to its gates, then had a interesting thing happen... but partway through the game bugged out and couldn't go past a certain Screen, preventing me from getting to see all that interesting Alternate Ending. With that said, this is a high amount of fun for a low amount of Bucks asked for it.
Bellissimo gioco!
fun and simple. plus the soundtrack is top notch
I bought this game thinking it was Death Road to Canada but this game was quite fun anyway. I love the Oregon Trail type games.
