Beta was great, PreBorn was peak, and Reborn was fun; long live OrbusVR. It was a fun ride with an amazing community of people, and a fantastic guild to play with, Alphabet.
I'm really sad to see one of my favorite VR games die and I wish it wasn't online only, please release a peer to peer edition I'm begging you

Amazing game with tons of interesting mechanics. The runemage is mine and many others favourite class, having to draw spells in the air to cast them is probably the coolest VR mechanic ever.
Sadly I never had any friends to play with so I didn't play the game as much as I would have wanted and now the game is shutting down forever.
I really hope something similar to Orbus comes out, maybe even with pc crossplay (nightmare to make balanced I imagine)

Dead game
In 2018, when this game came out, I put 140+ hours on this game. I loved it. Now, 6 years later, I decided to fire it up again and relive some memories.
THE GOOD: It's still running and works well. No significant bugs. It's easy to solo. Also, it's fun!
THE BAD: The business model was not subscription based. So, the money dried up and development ceased.... 2 years ago. Also, as others mention, there's less than a dozen people online at any one time--across the entire world. No parties. No raids. Just solo.
It feels like DAOC just before the servers shut down... A world waiting to die.
If you play the game I implore you to try three characters: Bard, Ranger, and Runemage. These characters are intricate and have a lot of depth in that physical practice and decision making in each fight will significantly affect your performance in a battle and the attacks are very mechanically intricate. The other 5 characters are overly simplistic where there are usually only a couple slow combos you spam throughout the entire game. While Reborn added a lot of things, the map before Reborn had much more satisfying progression and a really friendly playerbase. Now that the game is dead and devs no longer develop or even bug fix major issues, I cannot recommend this game as an MMO. If you want to treat it as a single player or coop game, then I still think you may have fun with the three characters mentioned and there is a lot to do on the map involving pets, alchemy, fishing, exploring, quests, and dungeons (which may be hard alone). However, progression gets increasingly grindy to reaching end game for a dead game.
The dev team has known for FOUR YEARS about a bug that won't allow runemages with index controllers to turn with their wand out. You are stuck looking in one direction until you put your wand away. FOUR YEARS? These devs do not GAF.
Not much to say here, a low effort rpg. Boring classes with janky skills, rune caster couldn't pick up what I'd draw most times, gunslinger is just spamming shooting and the hours I played equipment was just power score, kill mobs, do quest, get upgrade, move to the next spot over, repeat. Quests just sent you out to kill or talk to person and come back, repeat.
Just...no creativity here.
I just recently got OrbusVR (2024). The game itself is great and there are a lot of mechanics in the game that help with immersion. However, there have been no major updates (as far as I can tell) in the past two years. Additionally the max number of players online at once has dropped to around 20 with the majority of them already at max level. Because of this it's nearly impossible to form a sizable party of similar level players to progress through dungeons, public events, etc. If you can get 2 or more friends to join you then have at it. Otherwise I can't suggest playing.

They really had a charming community and game, player owned shops, a giant flying vehicle to travel between cities, pretty much everything out of an old school MMO. They updated the game into oblivion and removed all the stuff people were used to. It's a cool experience still probably, but it isn't a VR runescape anymore.
The state of the game right now does make me pretty sad. Despite my steam hours I had nearly 700 actual hours in game because I mainly played it on quest. I started playing early 2020 and while the community is small you eventually learned who everyone was and everyone knew who you were. You would learn so much about everyone's day to day life and what they were going through. I met so many amazing people from this game who also helped me through some tough times. The community was like a little family. I believe the social aspect of this game was a hard carry for me and the amount of hours I put in. The game play was pretty fun but it can get competitive. It was so much fun to help people build their guilds up or to help people learn how to play the game. It was so much fun to teach new players how to cast spells. It was so much fun to get discord pings at like 2am to run shard dungeons. It was so much fun to have drunk shard dungeon nights. It was so much fun to have little guild events where we would all get together and play games or divide ourselves into groups and run shard dungeons to help our lower level guild members get gear. It was so much fun to join raids that you knew were going to fail because even if we were struggling we were still having fun and becoming better. It was so much fun after struggling for so long finally getting through the raid and finally getting lucky enough to get that +7 weapon that you have been grinding for. I have so many amazing memories of late night deep conversations and also goofy interactions I've had with others through this game as well.
I believe the devs now have moved on to other things and I hope that they find the success they deserve. The player count has been dwindling and this game is dead. I wanna say I recommend this game and I will set the review as a recommendation but the truth is you probably won't have the same experience that I did and that makes me so sad. I am glad that I got to have this experience.

Game mightve been somewhat interesting with potential way back when it was back in beta.. back in 2016.. but they ended up deleting the old one from history and instead force upon this "reborn" version, which ended up having negative results.. also classes look neat untill you realize that over half of them are just outclassed and pointless, even in funvalue
The 750 hours I have in the Steam version of this game is not representative of how much I have played it. I usually play the rift version using Revive. I have over 1500 hours on that version. I have played this game A LOT and I love this game. It's a great game. Some people will complain that the graphics aren't great, which is true, and the game is buggy, which is also true, but those things don't change the fact that it's actually really well made and a lot of fun. The classes have all been thoughtfully designed to utilize VR and transcend beyond the expectations of a typical MMO.
Sadly, the devs have abandoned the game. The lead developer moved on to greener pastures, and the game owners have decided they don't want to support it anymore. It's a crying shame, because this game has amazing bones and could be something amazing.

Woefully dead compared to how it used to be. Interesting ideas, middling execution, and unfortunately, not enough staying power. Like a number of MMOs, you had to be there at its peak. Coming in now is not going to give you much, if anything. Steam Charts showed only 2 players on currently, and I never saw them in the usual spots so I can only expect they're far off in some higher level locale.
It's honestly a shame, because this game had so much promise. Apparently the devs dipped as well, which... certainly doesn't help.

The game is sitting at currently 1 to 5 players online a day, for a MMORPG this is not only not enough, but it makes any group content in the game unavailable. Before they rebranded the game to Orbus Reborn i had a lot of fun in the game, but as it is now it's a wasteland.

The ONLY thing that I don't particularly like about this game is the leveling BUT luckily its only a small part of this game, Sure its a slower grind to max level(30) but after that it is great game. Once you hit 30 you can do dungeons, raids, hardmode raids, shard dungeons, and even more with this game. the developers spent the time crafting unique systems such as, Tile making, Potions making, Fishing, and Crafting. I have played this game on steam for 266 hours and another couple thousand on oculas, And I would have to say it was worth every bit of it. sadly recently the devs stopped working full time on the game due to lack of players and income. So spread this game around and try to get it back to how it used to be
love everything about this game. real fun, alot to do, even fun endgame with dungeons and raids. many many hours of fun be warned.

Ein super nices VR Game, habe es richtig gesuchtet und es hat so viel Spaß gemacht! Schade das es kaum noch eine Playerbase hat. Die Spiele die ich getroffen habe waren immer alle Freundlich und man hat sich immer gegenseitig geholfen! Das war eine richtig schöne Community!
Small but tight-knit and super friendly community, 100% skill based gameplay and a lot better than the other VRMMO games currently out. Don't expect good graphics though.
I've been playing this game for about 5 years and it is still the best VR MMO RPG out there. It is also my favorite VR game in general so far. The classes take practice and skill and that is what makes this game unique. This game is far from perfect and there are a lot of "features" that will take some getting used to but there is just nothing else like it available. If you pick it up, make sure to meet some people and learn how to level up fast with the daily missions. The real fun starts when you are max level and can do all the group content.

I got this because I wanted to give Runemage a shot. Immediately find out that Vive/Index users who play Runemage cannot turn when they have their wand out.
The devs have known about this since 2017 and just decided to not fix it because they do not give a ---- about SteamVR players.
In case a dev reads this: If you want to make money off a platform, you need to support it. Leaving such a critical bug in the game for this long sends a very clear message that you do not care about SteamVR players and just want our money. Well, if that's the case, I'm taking my money back.

Played it long ago. ITS AWFUL. The gameplay was ok, janky and probably improved upon, However... So so sorry but not sorry.
This game DOES NOT deserve any form of payment to play. The community was utterly toxic and elitist when the Free to play period ended. I refunded the game IMMEDIATELY.
The fact they have to call them self "Reborn" doesn't do it any justice AT ALL. Not even going to bother looking.
Until they add a free to play aspect to this, the game is as good as garbage, like the community that I met during my time playing, AFTER the free play period. Yes this was long ago, years even. But Toxicity burns deep, and if i had to refund a game for content issues, I wouldn't have bought it to begin with. It's the community I look at in these Self-Proclaimed MMOs.
Allow some form of free play access, and allow people to see what the community is really like, otherwise keep wishing for a better growth.

The very first MMORPG for VR, and by far the only true VR MMORPG to date still. While they've made some changes to classes that were frowned upon, the game is still fun and the world is expansive. The world map sucks so be sure to use an external map to actually find the things you need like specific mobs or resources. The combat is fine for an MMO, and the dungeons are decent. Unfortunately the currency in this game is pretty useless in the late stages, and the cosmetics are all behind a real world money system. I'm hoping things will keep improving and be a little less money grabbing for cosmetics, but if you want a game to play with friendly people or your other VR friends, this is a good one.
So the premise is a good one. However:
- Combat is poorly implemented. There is little to no feedback for hitting an enemy both with a melee weapon or a bow. The enemy just continues to throw attacks without even flinching. Which makes the VR experience somewhat mindless.
- Audio control is abysmal. Reducing the music volume rewards you with silence, until the music transitions to say combat in which you're rewarded with random bursts of the soundtrack.
- Movement is cool, but on HTC Vive it's on both touch-directional pads. Meaning accessing your inventory sometimes makes you move slightly, which, if you have you journal open, is irritating as hell since your journal is now behind you somewhere.
- The tutorial was terrible. Learning to play this game requires third-party access to their Discord and the helpful community.
Since the developers are already focusing on in game purchases of new storylines while the product itself is still in need of some serious work, we may be safe to say look somewhere else for this experience.

Honestly.... I feel they ruined this game with the reborn update.... I think the graphical updates and retexturing was good... but I think they got way too far away from their original questline/storyline and lost their way. I enjoyed playing this game with my friends all hours of the night as we struggled to get through levels and the storyline that wasn't the most straight forward, but still gave direction and mystery. This was also accompanied by the motivation to solve those mysteries, now the game is in a state of "do these quests if ya want or don't... whatever. We also don't have a storyline anymore, just some side quests with some side lore."

What can I say, this game is amazing. Great concept, great execution with an amazing outcome. This game has mostly skill based damage systems. The early game is absolute hell, getting levels while your new and not 100% sure what class you wanna play is a massive struggle. If you can get past the roadblocks and get to level 30, congrats you've officially started the game, run some sharded dungeons, some raids with the final boss being boss 4 Citadel Hard mode. Now you may being confused upon why I've rated this game as bad. This game is a great, don't get me wrong, but the community is 90% annoying old people, people who get offended by compliments and over all majority of players can't handle a small amount of toxicity and end up mass reporting players and getting others banned. Personally I find this quite pathetic and simply will respond there's a block and mute button for a reason. Might I add, really poor devs who seem to lack care for their player base.
OrbusVR was once a really cool game. Around 2019 it felt that Orbus VR had its own direction, its own artwork and and interesting gameplay mechanics. Fast forward to now, the community is upset with the "Reborn" update. Reborn added many features that made it feel like a RPG however it doesnt feel like Orbus anymore. It feels like a game trying to copy World of Warcraft and pretend like it's the initial direction the developers wanted to take it all along. Also the control scheme is the worst. Please developers if you are going to copy other games, copy the player movement inputs from top rated VR games. They should at least release OrbusVR as its own version to download as a kind of Orbus Classic. thats another thing they can steal from WoW or OSRS. By the Way this game is not cross platform friendly the game is best played on a vive.
Better than zenith around 740 hours played on quest and im still doing new things ive never seen, its a fun game that honestly is worth the money.

I still enjoy the game but it is not what it was like when i had started. The game went from 2 max shards to barley enough people to run 5 man dungeons with. the game is mainly ran through discord sign up raid. still would recommend if you don't like zenith. From the time of my last reveiw ive put another 1300 hours into it across all platforms and accounts.
today we go back, back to the day i said to charlie fowler i liked this game and that we should get it. this very hour my finished the installtion of the new hit game orbus we loaded in and we met a wonderful guy named orbus he was a wonderful fella and he dosnt really know ive met him but deep down i do. whilst i was exploring the world i found a fountain and the man himself said to me "i had the choice between a penny and orbus i chose orbus" -Aprenhomus linkenious that man become a very known chap in this time in orbus VR it was like movie but i could move and it was so much better then seeing Aprom'homus Linkenious was killed in the threater gg am i right. most people know for my hit film the last dance - mitchle jorden but many of my friends such as my agar bots and orbus himself + penisardo - edward rowly im known in the orbuc communitty ive ocited htat some in thi s world hate me but i dont hate mysekf becuae im beautiudul like enisarfo himseld youklnow - penisardo then one day these 2 men hated each other starting the war of nlood and crips the crips where red and the bloods where the blues everyone that fought were black and they had to be becuase if you werent black you werent loco my friend charlie wasnt black like me so i shot him and he died then i realised i shot him in real life and i got really sad you know i had to sit a his funeral with his whole family sitting around me, me knowing that i have killed one of there family memebers i was in sorrows and pain laterly after this i tried to kms but failed i saw charlie he came to me came down from the heaven place and i talked to him he said to me "u must complete orbus my brother u must become lvl 40 and become orubuses ♥♥♥♥♥ " - charlie downer now dead cause : bestfriend shot him because he thought he was a scoundral f. you love or you hate but 1 thing i know this comunity as shaped me to who i am and i love it the game will take you on a ride of emontions the end.
As of the time of this writing, there are 7 group dungeons with 16 levels of difficulty, 1 group dungeon with 11 levels of difficulty, a solo dungeon, six distinct overworld zones, 3 DLC zones, two 10 person raids with two difficulties each. The dungeons also have varying affixes that change from dungeon to dungeon and week to week, so while the dungeon may be the same, some of the mechanics will differ each run through.
There are eight distinct classes with unique playstyles.
Overworld PvP and PvP battlegrounds.
Not into combat?
Dragon pet breeding, dragon pet racing, fishing, alchemy, artificing, player driven economy, critter capture, or just hanging out in town will fill up your time.
I'm still finding things to keep me entertained, and I'm 4,300 hours into the game. The devs are very community focused and take input from the players while constantly giving us free updates.
If you give this game a chance, you'll find yourself sinking a TON of time into it.
Love the game but needs voice acting and way better graphics. I don't mind lower graphics but for this game its just to much i can't handle it.
I enjoyed the majority of my time with the game. Before buying, keep in mind that the player base is not what it once was. Also, any new content will take a while to come out since there are less developers working on the game these days.
Logging into the game for the first time, it took me perhaps 15 minutes to set up the controls and other various settings to my liking. Once I was satisfied with my settings, I finished my first quest and went through the door and entered the city.
I was surprised how busy the city was with real people going about their business. I could hear people talking to each other about quest and loot as I walked by. People zooming about with important tasks. This feeling reminded me of how I felt when I first logged into World of Warcraft back when Cataclysm just started.
I got to say, there is something great here. An MMORPG in VR has a lot of potential. The immersion of VR changes the whole experience. I hope that this game will continue to grow and thrive sparking the fire for development of new VRMMORPG's with different flavors. I feel the new era of MMORPGS belongs to VR lets make it happen captain lol.

A VR MMO that functions like a Desktop MMO in a vew too manny fields. The combat can not hold the attention for long if at all. At a time it may have been a novel experience, I just cant recommend it to anyone that is into the MMO in VR thing without giving disclaimers or just saying this just aint it.
Really hard to understand how things work and the tutorial system is not simple to understand. Controls are also very difficult for Index users specifically, it seems everything wants you to grab here or grab that, when ACTUALLY grabbing on the index is extremely difficult in comparison to other vr devices. Played for no more than an hour as I got so fed up with not great controls and no optimization for Index.
Orbus: Where you can be a babysitter in VR!
But seriously it's a surprisingly active game with a lot to and people to meet and enjoy the company of :)

Very flawed game that has an overall janky feel especially for a paid experience.
While it is impressive to play a real MMORPG in VR, the novelty gets old quickly.
Flaws in the game mechanics, UI/Menus and Level Design/Art makes it an unappealing package that is very hard to get invested into.
Although it could be fun to play with friends, there are much better social VR alternatives out there.
The game doesn't feel fully released in general, You can't turn off teleportation and no matter what you can move, this isn't bad in most situations but when you're trying to scroll in a option menu and you start moving or teleporting and get targeted by a monster and forces you to another area it gets annoying. There isn't highlights for where your weapon or tools are meant to be leading it to be stuck on your hand until you go in the help menu (whilst being teleported/spinning around/moving around) and then having this tutorial screen just above your head constantly playing unless you go back into your menu where a X will appear and click it. (I had this on my screen for most of my gameplay cause there wasn't any indication that this is what i needed to do). Whilst looking through the classes there's a list whilst creating your character and theres no obvious remarks to whats advanced or starter friendly so when I chose rune mage I felt like i'd gotten ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the ass. When you do start there is a area where you can try out classes, but I don't get why they couldn't of made a menu after you logged in and tested all the weapons.
I haven't been able to play most of the game cause the groundwork feels like a test demo, I hope that they fix a few of the things because people obviously do enjoy the game and i've been looking for a decent mmo for a second and this just feels like another disappointment.

This is the metaverse version of a good MMO. It is ugly, boring, and propped up on grand ideas but poor execution.

I dont have much to say right now, but i VERY MUCH recommend this VR MMO RPG, although, it would be nice if we could jump, and climb down walls, with a special power of course or with a certain level
Most the starter quest are bugged and I spent all my time trying to figure a single quest out. Never past level 3 on the demo due to this. You would think the quest you would work on the most are the ones that get player started... The plants I was supposed to harvest only spawned 4 at a time and I need 15 for my quest. Took 2 hours or so and I got 6/15. So many other bugs I encountered while trying to collect items for my single quest. Even with help from the community in-game it's just plain bad. Most all players I encountered that were level 30 advised me to "get used to restarting" because of the sheer amount of bugs. Even restarting didn't fix 1/4 my problems in-game though.
Quite hard to play a game that cuts to a black screen immediately after creating a toon. Didn't use to do that...
This game was so damn cool back before Reborn but has never been the same since

I'm not sure what held me back from buying/playing this for so long, but I am so glad I finally did!
I've played more VR in the last couple weeks than I have in the last couple years. This game definitely gets you hooked. There is so much to do and after almost 20 hours I'm still finding room for improvement on how to play my first class.
If you are interested in a VR MMORPG, have a little patience to work through the initial learning curve, and aren't hung up on the lower graphics then you definitely need to pick this up!

Before the game was "Reborn" the game was amazing! Awesome quests, great story, immersive gameplay, and tons of players.
Now, the game is kind of boring, and is really difficult to start. I would still recommend though!
This game is fantastic. Certain classes are easier to pick up than others, but there is a very helpful community if you just ask any high level player to help you learn your class. If you don't feel comfortable speaking in game, it might make your life a little difficult, though. 10/10

I bought this game twice, once for PCVR and once for Quest, and I wish I could refund both of them. OrbusVR was great, and the community was so interesting, and felt like they guided you somewhere.
Orbus Reborn is garbage, the quest "system" is basically non-existent, the community is gone, and the game is completely gutted of what was once fantastic, and now they're trying to sell back to us the pieces that they ripped out.
VR MMO's are the future, but this ain't it.
So worth the money lots of content lots to do
Honestly, when I played it, the only populated thing in the entire game was the PvP battleground, the entire rest of the game seems dead. The mechanics are janky, the world is too large (so expect lots and lots of walking aimlessly), and there's only 9 players on average playing the game. The Runemage is an interesting class, but it's just too hard to use. Yeah, I get it's supposed to be really difficult, but even if you're skilled, it doesn't matter, you'll lose to the janky mechanics eventually. I spent a solid 30 minutes looking for a single NPC that could have just used an indicator to shorten it to like 5 minutes. It's definitely not the VR MMO we've been waiting for, or at least that *I've* been waiting for. Just look forward to the release of Zenith, it seems much more promising.
All in all though, the game on it's surface is impressive, but it's lack of a playerbase kills the experience.

update, I still am enjoying this game but my two major issues with this game is
1. Servers are a hit or miss. You are randomly thrown into a "Shard" with other players but you can't pick a server at all. Even if the server is lagging you out, you can't switch out.
2. Quests can glitch out due to server issues, or if someone has a poor connection then you can get lagged out and have your quest ruined.
All in all this is a very fun game and for 20$ you can not beat that price for a VRMMO. Hope these issues are handled in the future.

This game is amazing, the exact game I've always wanted, and in VR! I love the game mechanics and community so much and have met many new friends! The best part is, if you aren't sure on the purchase, you can get the free demo with all the features other than fully levelling up and trading. And, the levelling up doesn't matter too much since it takes about 12 hours in the game to get to the 10/30 level cap, and if you've played that much of this game, you should obviously get the full version. I would 10/10 recommend this game if you have a VR system.
Refunded. I was excited about a VR MMO, but unfortunately, it feels like an old school MMO with little physics.

great game totally recommend if you like mmorpgs the community is great there are bugs but if you run into bugs ask anybody in game they will gladly help you out.
When combat happens your movement speed is scaled down to about 0.1x which means if you want to go fishing and need to get by some mobs, sucks to be you.
My favorite game in vr by far, great community and fun classes. I have the game on oculus aswell and have around 600h at this point and im not bored at all yet. I would recommend atleast getting the demo and asking some lvl 30s what they think of the game.

Reborn was just so bad for me I gave up on questing and everything and just started fishing for like 5 hours and never came back
My first VR MMO, don't let the graphics turn you off, this game has a good community, the classes are very interesting to play too, there's something for everyone, not to mention you won't be relying much on your stats to be good, you'll be needing your VR skills to master the classes. Simply a must if you wanna experience how MMORPGs would feel like in the future, when VR finally becomes mainstream.
