Dobra, choć szczerze szkoda, że nie ma bonusów za czas jak w Zumie. The first Luxor game is a classic and a benchmark of the casual game genre. Even compared to the legendary Zuma, Luxor has its own charm, although the competitor might have slightly nicer graphics and sound. Right now, the game doesn’t have the highest approval rating on Steam, but that’s mostly due to users complaining because they can’t run a twenty-year-old game on Windows 11. In reality, you just need to install a simple patch that’s freely available in Steam guides, and the game works perfectly.

That said, the game runs faster in windowed mode than fullscreen — so if you go for the fullscreen option, be ready for black bars.

The gameplay is pretty standard: you shoot balls, match them by color, and grab falling bonuses so the balls don’t reach the endpoint. There are 14 stages in total, each with around 5-6 levels on average (not counting the last 14th stage, which has a single unique level for the whole game). The difficulty ramps up in a clear way: every roughly third of the game, a new ball color shows up and the chain speed spikes. If you run out of lives, you have to start over from the beginning of the current stage. With enough skill, it’s totally possible to finish the game without dying at all. For many, this is a childhood game — some, like me, first played it when we were little, so the nostalgic vibes here are super strong.

Of course, the game has its flaws. It feels a bit long because there aren’t many original levels — almost all the variety of locations is gone by the fourth stage, and after that it’s just repetition at a faster pace. There aren’t many situations in the game, you can’t choose the difficulty or a specific level manually (that only gets fixed in the second part), and there’s no clear story or dialogues like in Zuma. And at the end of the day, it’s the same melody across all levels — the music isn’t totally cringy, but it’s pretty sparse.

Despite the monotony, it’s still a great way to kill some time. The game doesn’t try to be complicated or deep; it just works as a solid time-killer. If you want to get nostalgic or just pop some balls, Luxor is definitely worth checking out.

Basique et rudimentaire mais fait très bien le taf pour une petite expérience arcade pas prise de tête. Puis l'univers de l'Egypte est sympa :)

Attention cependant il ne fonctionnait pas pour moi au premier démarrage j'ai du utiliser un guide (celui en langue russe) pour pouvoir y jouer.

Privilégiez les versions HD. Petite chose abusé d'ailleurs les 3 Luxor qui ont une version HD proposée sur Steam ont des problèmes au démarrage comme de par hasard ;)

Luxor (the series) is definitely one of my favorite games of all time. It is like Zuma, but with an Ancient Egyptian touch and I'm all for it. As a kid I was so in love with the game and the weird but interesting hieroglyphs in it, that my whole obsession for Ancient Egypt culture started to grow and flourish.

Today, as someone who already learned a bit of hieroglyphs, I'm again surprised by the dedication of the developers cuz some of the hieroglyphs are actually correctly used, and some paintings actually align with real relics. The majority of the "text" are unreadable cuz the writing orders are completely chaotic, but I can see that they have at least studied the Gardinar's list of Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. Back when I was a kid, I used to think game developers would never go this far cuz they're "just making games"... but now, MumboJumbo is just like all the other indie game developers we know today. They are great artists who clearly enjoyed making these little games.

A clear drawback of this game would be the repetition of maps. Every stage has the same maps and sometimes a new one designed for this particular stage (which is nice). It can get boring at times, but again this is a zuma game what do you want. Still a good game.

Luxor is a simple yet addicting game that is enjoyable in my opinion. Some people might find it boring which is understandable given there is only one mode to play so there isn't much variety gameplay wise. It does get kind of difficult when you reach the higher levels so eventually you'll hit a brick wall which is frustrating. For the first entry in the Luxor franchise it still is pretty decent, you just need a few tweaks to run it properly on modern operating systems. Definitely recommend you pick it up during a sale if you're looking for a game to kill time with.

i had to mod it to even run. it's not okay to sell a game which requires and old system on a platform like steam, which isn't even supported on systems older than win10.

anyways. luxor grabbed me like crazy back when i was a kid. like literally about 6 years old at most. such an odd game, yet it made so much sense to me. my love for ancient egypt might very well have sprawled from this game series.

expect to spend some time troubleshooting to run this ancient software.

Este juego y toda su línea son excelentes, pero tengo un reclamo hacia STEAM. ¿Cómo se les ocurre ofrecer este juego en su versión de Flash Player para jugar en PC, cuando ya han pasado muchos años desde que dejó de usarse y Windows lo bloquea por defecto? Uno compra el juego emocionado, con la idea de recordar viejos tiempos, y se encuentra con que suben la versión Flash. Lo peor es que todos los juegos de la saga Luxor están en Flash Player. Luxor is a very fun and nostalgic puzzle game.
Anyone who is familiar with Atrativa's golden age in the 2000s, when it had Cuzzle Deluxe, Bejeweled, Zuma, and The Amazing Adventures, knows exactly what I'm talking about!
I bought it expecting to play it, but it got a problem and it's serious that there is still no update to fix it.
Error 1: After installing, the game won't open.
Error 2: Even if you use a fix that makes the game open, the game's sound literally disappears... but when it's outside of STEAM... it works normally... so illogical!
I won't give refunds because this game had a very positive impact on my childhood and the 2000s.

This used to work fine on Windows 10, but with Adobe retiring Flash it has become unplayable. It crashes on startup, because SWF splash screen is blocked. Developer doesn't seem to be interested in fixing the game and the only way to play is used a cracked exe. Don't buy!

Luxor is a match 3 arcade game with a twist - the orbs move on a path. The goal is to shoot colored balls at the "trains" or segments moving along the path and match all of the balls before it reaches the end. More and more segments are required to complete the level with more colors being introduced, and the segment getting a farther head start incrementally ramps up the difficulty. Rinse and repeat for the 100 or so levels then the glory of the Egyptians gods will be restored.

The graphics look fine and the UI functions as intended.
The audio gives proper feedback and has a nice thematic sountrack.
No bugs were encountered in my playthrough, but a few complaints. Later Luxor games offer more power-ups with awesome, unique abilities, which this game sorely needs. The "catch up" mechanic of the segments seems to be very weird or unfair at times when making numerous match chains.

Overall, an addictive and good time killing experience for anyone. Also, yes, I am aware that many can not play the game. The game doesn't work as intended with new hardware, but an easily to comprehend patch exists for many of the Luxor games

Уровни нормальные. Прохождение чуть больше Zumа и Tumblebugs. Музыка и сам египетский дизайн - на высшем уровне.

По сравнению с другими частями - эта часть прям 🔥🔥🔥. Единственная часть, в которой есть ностальгия и желание снова и снова играть в эту игру.

Если вы купили эту часть - другие части я б вам не советовал!!!! В других частях - дизаин ужасный и музыка так себе.

Aside from the game normally being priced at $9.99 and being difficult to get running on modern computers, Luxor has a few other issues I feel are worth mentioning:
1) There is no difficulty selection, and by extension, no way for players to practice difficult levels.
2) The hit-detection on the balls seem a little sketchy. They sometimes don't slot into where you shot them at. I have not noticed this issue in other marble-shooter games I have played.
3) The default shooting speed feels a little too slow for the pace the game sets after stage 3. This makes catching the speed power-ups a necessity. This issue is compounded by the lack of a practice mode I mentioned above.

Despite this the game is still mostly enjoyable, with an attractive and consistent Ancient Egyptian-themed art style complimented by appropriate sound design and music, as well as simple and addicting game play.

Wait for the game to go on a big sale, or just play the newer entries in the series. The newer Luxor games have difficulty selection, better ball accuracy, and are easier to get running on your PC.

After not playing for almost 15+ years, I've come back and absolutely blasted through the game. it was so much fun! only died once my whole playthrough in the middle of stage 12 or 13. At first I thought this game was abandonware, about 75% into my playthrough I realized it was being sold on steam and then proceeded to buy the whole franchise. This game needs a patch to run on modern systems but that can easily be found on the steam forums for the game.

Absolutely reccommended! However, do note that if you are looking to play the original luxor games VIA the luxor collection (best price) you will need to do a bit of research on each games steam forums for the said fixes for the games, but its very easy.

Edit: For some reason this game works now, at least for me and I'm still on Windows 10. I don't know what changed exactly, but on a whim I just decided to try it again. It was a bit janky when it launched, but actual gameplay was just fine. I've changed my rating to recommended since this now seems to be useable, and I've left my original review below, for history.

This game no longer works I think because Windows 10 yeeted Flash a while back. I can't even ask for a refund or to even just have it removed from my library because I bought it in a package with the rest of the games, and they'd get refunded/removed also for some stupid reason. Steam should be ashamed of themselves for keeping this version up on the store. I paid money for this game that used to work, and it doesn't anymore, and I can't even get my money back without refunding the entire rest of the collection, too. Completely asinine.

Сама по себе игра неплохая. Эдакий клон популярной игры "Zuma", в антураже древнего Египта. Только вот играть в неё было бы уместнее в отрыве от стима, ибо отсутствует какая-либо поддержка. Ладно, не русифицирована. Для такой игры русификация особо и не нужна. Дело в другом. Нет никаких привычных плюшек, ни оверлея, ни облачного сохранения, ни карточек, ни достижений. Но и это полбеды. Нет даже поддержки широкоформатного монитора. А периодически игра зависает или вылетает. То есть, оптимизация на коленке.
В общем, нет никакого смысла брать данную игру в стиме. У неё нет абсолютно никакого преимущества перед той же пиратской версией. А за эту лицензионную версию, на минуточку, просят 199 р.
P.S.: В стиме есть HD-переиздание, надо заценить его.

The game is fun and can hold your attention for a few hours, It's got decent replayability, although there's less content than the other Luxor games and can start to feel a bit repetitive after a while. And by "a while", I mean after replaying the entire game seven or eight times. If you've got an older system I would recommend this game, however, if you have Windows 10 I would look into either Luxor 3 or the HD version of this game instead, as this will NOT run on your system.

TL:DR: it's an amazing game, and if you're able to run it, it's worth the money. If you're on Windows 10, I'd pass and get Luxor 3 or Luxor HD instead, because Windows Defender hates this game.

Никогда не играл в эту игру в детстве, в отличие от напрашивающейся для сравнения Зумы. Купил для маман как времяубивалку, а заодно решил и сам проверить реакцию в столь незамысловатой аркаде.

Что сказать? В принципе, мне понравилось шарoёbuться, довольно релаксирующая затея, особенно, если на фоне поставить документалку, аудиокнигу или музыку. Так просто играть надоест, но в купе с прослушиванием чего-либо на фоне — отличная разрядка.

И так как игра вышла позже Зумы и явно была ею вдохновлена, я не могу не провести сравнение и аналогию. Да что говорить, тут даже количество этапов идентичное Зуме (13 этапов), так что первоисточник видно невооруженным взглядом. Поэтому сразу отвечу на вопрос. Игра [u]слабее[/u] чем [b]Zuma[/b]. Пусть тут и вроде бы больше бонусов, например, и даже больше локаций, но тут нет главного — челленджа. Вся игра пролетает, в отличие от вдохновителя, налегке, — практический никакой задачи, никакой сложности и хардкора. Лишь буквально несколько самых последних уровней это предоставляют, но в целом за всю игру я просто чиллил, кидая шарики. Возможно, сыграло то, что перед этим я как раз прошёл ту самую Лягушку, поэтому, пресыщенный сложностью, эту игру не ощущал абсолютно. Но порадовало, что в целом формат игры чуть отличается, и ты будучи неведомой крылатой херней можешь двигаться только снизу по горизонтали. Это, в принципе, как и добавление новых и местами необычных бонусов, создаёт отличительный геймплей.

Что же по явным минусам? А то, что, чёрт побери, эта игра ни в какую не хочет запускаться на Windows 10. Будьте готовы к тому, что придётся пошаманить — лично мне пришлось качать патч. Я, конечно, люблю порой задачки, но явно не в этом смысле. Ну и облачного сохранения тоже нет, беда.

Подытоживая: хотите погонять шары в классической аркаде 3 в ряд? Лучше идите в Зуму. Не хватило Зумы? В таком случае, эта игра приятно поубивает ваше время.

非常经典的一代Luxor，先是体验了HD重置版后再回头玩原版时才发现，原版可谓是既原始又生猛，辅助描线在一代属于限时加成，去到了HD版则变成了系统选项；生命值可叠加但却是按照章节来重置，导致到了最后两章经常会重玩前面的关卡，最后修改了设置猛刷最后一关不下三十次才通关。

It's similar to Zuma, but the spheres are shot upwards and the game remains as fun. Give this game a go, or get the HD version if you're not a fan of fan patches.

Before I begin, I'd like to point out that this game among some other Luxor titles do [b] NOT [/b] work on Windows 10.

I am aware the HD versions do work on Windows 10, but since this review is about [i] this [/i] version and not the HD version, I'll be judging [i] this [/i] version of the game.
With that out of the way, let's check out my review of Luxor.

[h1] Intro [/h1]

If you've ever been part of the sphere-matching craze like I have, there's a good chance you've heard of this game.
You match at least 3 balls of the same color to destroy them, for which you gain points.
You do that by shooting them from your shooter at the bottom of the screen, which moves along the bottom of the screen.
These balls move along a set path depending on the level to your pyramid, which you have to prevent from happening.
When the balls reach the pyramid, you lose a life.
More points are provided the more balls you destroy, with bonus points and power-ups being dropped frequently.

The balls are being pushed by a rather cute-looking scarab, and destroying all balls it pushes destroys it as well, giving you bonus points.
In order to win you need to destroy all the balls these scarabs push until no more spawn.

Personally I'm very nostalgic when I'm playing this game, since I loved these kind of games when I was younger.
It's very much like Zuma in regards of the general gameplay.
There's however distinct differences from it that set it apart from Zuma.

Personally I'm a big fan of anything Egyptian, though I understand it's not to everyone's taste.
The way the balls form a line with the scarab system is a smart choice considering you're forced to shoot from the bottom of the screen, whereas Zuma didn't need it due to the shooter shooting on it's axis.
Incorporating bonuses for destroying a line was also a neat decision.

The game's playstyle focusing on simply destroying balls as opposed to clever tricks and going for that one satisfying combo shot is a minus to me, since I like playing it smart and making a strategy to get more points.
Instead the game punished you for 'missing a shot', which can prevent you from getting that perfect score on a level.

[h1] Price [/h1]
Since I've made comparisons between this game and Zuma, I'm gonna compare their prices as well.
You can pick this game up for 9,99 on steam.
Although the price isn't shabby, it's a shame the game doesn't normally work on Windows 10 as mentioned earlier.
Compared to Zuma which is only 4,99 and works without any issue whatsoever.

Is the game as good as Zuma?
That's a personal taste, since they offer different kinds of playstyles.
Do I recommend this game?
Yes, especially if you enjoyed Zuma, though you should get it when it's on sale since the developers can't fix this version of the game to work on Windows 10.
I'd recommend you get the HD version instead since that one does work out of the box, but if you want the old graphics for nostalgia you should get this game on sale.
