I haven't played it much, just downloaded it to my computer more or less, but when I added it to my library, I thought it was a kind letter to no one situation. Guess I didn't read the description in full, but you're literally sending letters to people asking for advice or a kind word, or you send out a request for such yourself. I think that's really awesome and wholesome. As someone who has been through the wringer the past 11 or more months, it brought a real smile outta me., Definitely worth playing.

1. No, the game or the community isn't dead after Kind Words 2.
Kind Words and Kind Words 2 are using the same server, so if you want to save a couple of bucks, you can still purchase this one!
2. Yes, you are safe.
Ever since I joined the game, I never, ever encountered any toxicity. HOWEVER, I have seen some reddit screenshots, which developers quickly replied to take action. The game has a report button, and devs are taking it seriously. Also you are completely anonymous, so you don't have to worry about your information.
This is not a game. This is a beautiful community and kudos to devs for creating such a safe environment. Only downside of this would be the character limitations while you are writing, but other than that, there is nothing!
Actually this game is a nice idea... but sometimes I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the self-pity people who need professional help.
a cute reminder that a lot of people are actually very nice, and that anonymity on the internet isn't only for bad actors, but also helps normal people be more honest with themselves and with others, and can create beautiful interactions!

very sweet community, at least from who i've interacted with! i'm just so glad that there's a non-judgemental venting and advice zone for those who need it - but steer clear if you feel you might become dependant on this tool/game! internet strangers CAN be cruel, and even when they're nice, they're not a substitute for actual therapy. vent, but make sure you're in a good headspace to ignore any possible trolls that might pop up, and don't become dependant on this. seek professional help if you need it, and i really hope everything gets better for you <33

I've only played an hour of this game and it is a different experience compared to other games that I've played. This isn't a game in a sense that it's "fun", instead it's a platform in spreading positivity throughout random strangers that faces the same struggles and/or problems that we face. I think this game makes this clear. Because of it's simple mechanics of you writing and receiving kind words to other people, it makes the game have an unusual vibe. Positive, yet weirdly helpful. I highly recommend this game if you having a hard time interacting with people in real time. You can just be honest here by spreading of course love and positivity.

Just a pure, beautiful game that connects you with beautifully minded people, when you're at any sort of low ebb, just feeling reflective, or want to help others. I find I love writing kind words for others as much as I appreciate receiving them myself.

Purchase KindWords 2. There is more to do and its the same server. Trying to get a refund for 1 is nearly impossible, because 1 and 2 show the same hours of game play. Steam is stingy.
great art, great tunes, love the vibes! though my only complaint is that i feel like lots of people who play are using it as a place to vent, which in itself is ok to an extent. but at the same time lots of things i've seen are some pretty heavy stuff that might trigger some other people. i myself am somewhat guilty of this exact thing though, so i guess i can't say much about it. and it's not the devs' fault at all!! i just hope people who play will be more mindful about others bc it does get quite heavy in here. take care if you're planning to buy <3

A chill, gentle way to give and get anonymous advice. I got to wish someone happy birthday who shared their date with me. Someone told me I was going to be okay when I left home for the first time. It got me through some tough times and I always feel better when I use it, not necessarily because my problems were solved, but because I got to feel useful and supportive.

Basically a lot of either confused, or worried, or depressed people write letters and post them into the void. It's a kind of therapy that works two ways. Anyone who has the time to listen can read these letters, and most of them are just a cry out to be heard. All you have to do is "hear" and read and respond with empathy. It's hard initially, but when you get the hang of it, and start to focus on listening, not on fixing, then it gets easier to share the love.

You are limited to a tiny box. This is consistent with other similar games or apps of this kind. This forces you to focus and response with just one kind word. Most people don't need more than one kind word.

It's like everyone needs a strong tree that will spread it's branches and grow, but you only need one seed. And Kind Words being in such a short form tries to keep everyone focused, and keep everyone from wearing themselves out. I get the impression there are a load of people out there who really need help, serious help. Seek professional help, please.

I always revert to this game in times of need. Comfort from strangers helps a lot because you know, you aren't alone in whatever you're struggling with. This game is also very low barrier so just turn it on, spend as much or less time you want and most of all: Be kind. To others and to yourself.
incredible game to remind people they're not alone in their struggles. returning after a few years and the community is still so warm and compassionate, truly a safe space to let your thoughts drift away into the pink void and remind yourself you're not the only one struggling, and that you, too, are worthy of kind words in spite of hardship. i love that all my old notes and their responses are still there-- it shows me not only how much i've grown, but how strong and resilient i am. everyone deserves to be heard, even if its through anonymous submissions into the void. your words have impact here, even if it doesn't feel like it. when you respond to people with kindness and empathy, or by sharing your experience/views, it really does impact them. just take it from me. if you're ever struggling, or don't know who to talk to and need something off your chest, there isn't a better game i could recommend (except maybe the 2nd one, i still have to check it out though :P)

There are a troll or two, that give vague answers or troll like answers to a problem you've posted, which is honestly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up, but it only ruins the vibe if you let it.

sometimes you need advice from an average human, no google, no ai, and not in a place like toxic forums. I find that everyone here is really nice, sometimes a bit too nice, but it helps just to hear people's opinions on things anyways
only thing I wish is that we need to have just a little bit more space to write things. I can barely get 3 sentences down. I understand it's good to keep it short and simple but we can still do this by giving us a few more lines

В любом возрасте человек может столкнуться с жизненными трудностями, психологическими проблемами или кризисом. И если вы оказались в похожей ситуации, важно не замыкаться в себе, а стараться найти выход своим эмоциям. Пытаться искать поддержку везде, где только можно: в друзьях, любимом человеке, службе поддержки, на анонимных форумах… Или даже в видео играх. Например, в такой как [b] Kind Words [/b].
Игра оказалась на удивление простой и в одночасье оригинальной. Ваша задача – читать письма от [b] реальных людей [/b] и писать им слова поддержки. Но! Такой функционал работает и в обратном направлении. Вы тоже можете излить душу на виртуальной бумаге и через некоторое время получить советы или утешение от других людей. Вроде бы все просто, но какая классная идея! Почему раньше этого никто не мог придумать?
А теперь поподробнее. Основная локация в игре — это уютная комната и твой персонаж, сидящий за письменным столом. Антураж помещения можно изменить на любой другой по выбору, а со временем появится возможность обставить комнату всякими плюшками. Письма, на которые игрок может отвечать и самолично писать довольно лаконичные, так как присутствует ограничение по символам. Сочинить трактат о своих проблемах не получится. Но это и не нужно, ибо основная цель игры – это поддержать добрым словом или небольшим советом. Если же вам необходима более серьезная помощь, то лучше обратиться к специалисту. И кстати, тут присутствует полная анонимность. В начале игры можно придумать никнейм, но в письмах будет указываться только заглавная буква.
Что порадовало, так это контингент игроков и уважительное отношение друг другу. Тут можно встретить людей самых разных возрастов и социальных групп, но при этом нет никакого хамства. В первый час игры на мое письмо ответили порядка 6-7 человек, и среди них не было ни одного тролля. А какую теплоту испытываешь, когда получаешь слова поддержки от человека, находящегося в похожей ситуации! Это действительно вдохновляет! Помимо этого, к письму могут прилагаться милые стикеры, которыми ты можешь украсить свою комнату или передарить другим людям.
Такой же терапевтический эффект можно получить и в обратную сторону - когда отвечаешь на сообщения. Помогая другим, тем самым помогаешь себе. Узнавая чужие проблемы, свои кажутся уже не такими страшными (и по факту, вполне решаемыми). При этом трудности, о которых пишут люди могут быть абсолютно разными. Мне запомнилось письмо студента, который влюбился в своего друга и не знал, что делать со своими чувствами. Или, например, послание от 50-его мужчины, оставшегося под конец года без работы, и без возможности платить за аренду жилья... У всех свои сложности.
Отдельно хочется похвалить саундтрек: мягкие, медитативные мелодии создают атмосферу спокойствия и безопасности. Такую музыку можно даже поставить на фон и заниматься своими делами. Добавил в вишлист)
В заключении хочется поблагодарить разработчиков за их труд. Такие игры действительно важны, особенно в такое неспокойное время, как сейчас. Было бы здорово увидеть похожий проект и в русскоязычном сегменте. Ибо за последние несколько лет жить в России, к сожалению, проще не становится, а огромный спрос на психологов только тому подтверждение.

This is such a beautiful idea for a game, it's obvious that the people behind it are very kind :) I've only played for a short while, but I've written several letters to people who needed help and it's really helping me to do so.
Sometimes the best way of learning something is to teach others, and it is helping me to frame good thoughts for others, as it helps me to do it for myself :) I am so enjoying the positivity it infuses me with, it's something I didn't know I needed :) Also the music is very chllled :D
This is a game to play if you want to share positivity with other anonymous humans, and it's quite a moving concept. If there's one thing the whole world needs right now, it's more random kindness between all kinds of humans.

起初下这个游戏是刷到相关帖子，说可以用它学英语。想着也不贵，就直接买了。刚开始几天很新鲜，连着两三天都会登录，看别人的烦恼，也会试着给旁人写些安慰的句子。偶尔会刷到一两篇特别沉重的，心也会沉跟着一下。感觉有时候在真正的苦难面前，言辞是没有任何反击之力的。于是我很快便腻烦了。直到最近一段时间，学业、家庭、人际都有很大的压力，感觉憋着一股气，不知道什么时候爆发。打开电脑办公突然看到了这个几个月前买下的游戏，也无所谓地点进去，不怀任何期待地写了最近生理心理都很难受的状态。神奇地是，不久后竟然真的收到了四封回信。大家真的很真诚。就算不能理解我的处境，也都说“送你一块巧克力”之类可爱的赠言。最后心情慢慢地恢复过来。
这个不能算作游戏，只能算作漂流瓶。它的功能甚至很简陋，收到回信时，只能回复一张贴纸。但也正是这样，它才能还原人与人之间最本真的交流。纯粹的灵魂共鸣。这种跨越国界的交流甚至让我感受到了语言的魅力。或许kind words不能解决实际问题，但它能让你的内在感受被看见；或许它也不会让你感受到被理解，但它笨拙、粗劣的“套话”表象背后也是真切的关心。我们存在文化差异，但我们的心却紧密相连。

The concept of this little application is adorable. I love opening it and receiving responses to the letters and questions I put out into the world, and the kind words people have to say. The anonymity aspect of it makes it even better. Nobody knows who you are, and you don't know who they are. It feels nice being able to respond to others and say kind things as well. It's a lovely give and take that just makes you feel better if you're not feeling great.
whenever im having a hard time I go back to my letters that people sent me and I feel slightly better, less alone. very supported. to me this 'game' can be a lot of different things for everyone, I come here to write and then cry from the kindness of others :3.
Really chill game. Nice to just have running while I'm working on other things, to listen to the music, to see the messages that fly past, to send my own messages and send kind words to other people. Comfy, positive game. Love it.
It's very calm and helped me get through a lot
It's very difficult to say something bad about a simple, inexpensive game where all you do is give and receive written support. There's always a hazard in anything like this that the Internet will enable unhealthy behavior by giving unwavering positive feedback to any and all seekers. But at least from what I've seen, this isn't about people looking for excuses or affirmations of their bad behavior. It's folks, mostly but by not all means young people, with everyday anxieties living through the most common and universal human experiences looking for a little compassion and a witness to their experience -- and they're just looking for a sign that people aren't just what we see on TikTok and in YouTube comments.
A safe space for everyone who needs to communicate, vent, or find help.
To all the people who respond to letters with kindness, empathy, and the best of intentions: you help more than you know and deserve the best in life. Never stop responding, beautiful human beings.

This is not a "game", in the strict sense of the word. It's more akin to a group therapy session, if you couldn't see the rest of the group but you can hear their woes and answer their pleas. It's amazing how the community has the discipline and will to keep this clean and to the point. This little gem can help you heal, struggle, scream, feel and question. If you feel like wailing, don't do it into the void, do it here. Someone WILL answer back.

I'm so grateful this game exists and is still live years later, with an active community.
I just paged through my history of writing letters and realized that the Kind Words community has given me comfort and support through some of the hardest times of my life. I want to give a huge, public "thank you" to Popcannibal for launching and supporting this project, because I think it's a lot more than a game.
The idea is great, I've only received positive feedback, but there is a lack of motivation and the opportunity for detailed feedback or a feedback loop.

This game is great. It really helps me deal with stress and ask for advice about my worries and fears. It’s nice to just hear some advice from a complete stranger and it’s all anonymous. You’ll probably never get a message from the same person twice.
Kind Words can be used both ways you can ask for advice and give advice, and you do it just because you can. There’s no expectation of reward.
I usually try to help people through things I’ve been through myself. If I can, I link it to past experiences and share how I’ve overcome similar situations.
My only gripe with the game is the limited space you get to type. You’re given 8 lines, and sometimes that just isn’t enough to express your worries and fears, or to fully help someone with what they’re going through.
The lo-fi music in the game is also amazing.
It's nice to know you've helped someone. And that's the whole point of the game. Just helping people and getting advice yourself. It's so cozy and nice.

Anonymously send notes to people about your worries and your deepest thoughts while also responding anonymously to other people's notes... it's an interesting experience. I admit, I do get nervous sending messages to people, but I'm always thankful whenever I get a note from someone who cared enough to respond. It's not therapy, but it helps!
This game can ease your pain by sharing it with others. Kindness can be free and invaluable.
