Honestly just a grind, I told my friend about it and he kept talking about Hades 2, it made me dread coming back to this.

A ton of cool concepts? Almost cool enemies? Nearly playable levels and mechanics? Meet Potential game. All the bosses are the same, most enemies you'll come to find are functionally reskins of each other:
- Tower homing shooter
- Little rat, mushroom, spider, zombie that runs at you and is fodder
- Vaguely humanoid thing that throws projectile
- flying projectile shooter

That's nearly it! The game in actual variation for upgrades and such is also really lacking, the only magics worth using are Nebula, Hawk, Fan, and Shotgun. Bomb is a near run killer as it's so badly outclassed by Hawk, Needles dmg is way too low, and gets outclassed by Nebula and Fan anyways. This plus the lackluster upgrade options make the gameplay loop mindnumbing.

Slow is nearly pointless, poison doesn't do enough dmg, bleed is ok, just ok. The only ones really worth time are Curse and Weakness because they have almost effective combos that pair with them. The game tries to push this odd potential for upgrades that stall or make you take less dmg but why take them ever when you can just oneshot 90% of enemies consistently by taking any of the dmg or crit upgrades?

I don't think you should play this unless you plan on making a roguelite, and if you do plan on making one, use this game as an example of what not to do. This game has redeeming parts but they are few and far between, the only thing keeping me playing is curiousity for the final boss.

The game itself was a ton of fun, clean movement, nice (fairly unique) graphics, and VERY SATISFYING combat. The roguelike aspect specifically made every run feel unique, since you always had a large number of different attacks/abilties to choose from before every dungeon. Eliminating enemies was pretty satisfying as well (similar to Ultrakill or Doom). The ONLY flaw that made me refund the game was that the game just didn't want to boot up after a couple of hours of playtime. I dunno if it's steam's fault, my fault or if something was wrong with the game but since it is very unknown I couldn't really find any advice online.
So yeah if you want a couple of hours of fun only to be disappointed after, go for it

Very fun fast paced rouge-lite. Meta progression feels good, not too much and not too little. The multiplier for more likely hood of certain upgrades showing doesn't feel strong enough. Gameplay is akin to Doom and Robo-quest in a slight way. Graphics are very crunchy in a good way like old school doom. Movement is a little clunky at points as you can easily get caught on walls but otherwise movement is very smooth and fluid. Would love to see more variety in combat weapons such as possibly melees? More synergy between skills would be very nice too! One such example being using weakness 2nd upgrade which makes enemies take more damage could be universal and not hand specific. Another possibility I'd like to see is could or puddle effects which are player produces either by mixing hand on enemies or the like. One possibility could be combining hands and make single mixed projectiles which could provide a new effect based on weapons and or effects. Like cannon and fan shoots a spread of 5 cannon shots in a fan. Or frost and curse could make cc walls which curse the ground with slow. Over all I wish there was more content as i can for-see myself completing the rest of the achievements in the coming couple days, and there is not too much replay-ability. This could be amended with maybe a third slot for keys? Def a couple more room variations, and more bosses!

After playing a few runs a week here and there i've finally 100% finished the game, Relatively Simple but compelling story, fast paced boomer shooter combat, quick short levels and a pretty decent variety in viable builds with some interesting risk/reward trade offs in some upgrades. I had a great time and will definitely return for some more runs just because it's fun, and isn't that all that really matters?

I feel comfortable recommending this as something to play when you're bored, but not much more.

Has a lot in its favour - fun gameplay, gorgeous artstyle - everything you need to execute a great roguelike but that's not a great foundation. What this game really needs is content - more lore for me to care about and a greater variety of levels. A couple hours in and you have practically seen everything this game could possibly offer you, It doesn't do much, if anything at all, to mix something new into its core gameplay loops.

Essentially, this could have been more than a timewaster if it just had more thoughtful progression, more exploration of lore and the game's world, and especially more level designs - unique events to add more to your next runs. Breaks my heart a little, because this game has potential to be so much more.

I have enjoyed this game enough so far for me to recommend it.
But it does have its share of problems that I have going to list for you.
First and foremost a lack of variation.
This is both in terms of enemies, dungeons and even weapons.
The game is very repetitive.
It is a fun concept mixing your own dungeons, but they all feel the same.
The game gets very hard very fast.
I don’t think I can recommend playing with controller, aiming could only be adjusted too far or too slow for my liking.
You need a lot of luck to get good runs. You also need to stack abilities, and plan ahead for your possible upgrades, but pulling the game in certain directions I feel comes too late.
Graphics, style 9/10, execution poorly, my eyes hurt everytime I play this.
The stages lack variations as I said, but thankfully they aren’t very maze like, but be careful not getting stuck on random bits of terran

But when I had a good run the game was a lot of fun.

The game is built like a twitch shooter, without the mechanics to reward a twitch shooter. It's showing high speed run and gun while closing the distance, that is rarely the case for Into the Pit. The game feels like someone who wanted to make one thing, was told to add a bunch of other things that are expected, and you just get a very bland end product.

The game is slow and steady mid-range where you try to stay out of corridors, you are made of tissue and your character doesn't get tradable health regen from killing, much less in a cool way. Take Doom 2016, you kill an enemy and typically the reward for doing it upclose is getting things to kill more enemies. ItP has a few items that gives health on kill... sometimes, but everything is made to ensure you play safe and smart. If your playing fast and loose, then your going to get wrecked. Slow steady strafing with long and midrange, because close range (their shotgun) doesn't provide any benefits to playstyle.
I say mid and far, because close isn't an option. No extra damage, no cool powerup for that style, just more bullets, than the mid-range. This is bad because it doesn't have knockback or stun, to compensate getting in their face, so the game has a style of play, and you follow what works. It's why stealth archer is what everyone becomes in Skyrim, because it give the player the best rewards.
So if it doesn't have great game mechanics, it's got fun everything else right?
Stop me if you have played this genre of indy before:
Enemies become bland and stale, because it's like 3 types and they all bee-line for you.
Random generated maps.
Rougelite mechanics with parsed storyline for beating a full level.
Super cool storyline thats parsed out between 30 minute runs,
Evil trusted leader that sacrificed everyone.

It feels like alot of idea's went into this, but it also feels like a single dev passion project that someone in a suit at the last minute told them to change things. You can get caught on the walls, you will have things teleport right in front of you, you will face 5 layers of 4 levels roughly 1-3 minutes each to get to a boss that will halfway shield itself to summon enemies that you have to clear, and then resume. I gave it time, but it just didn't give me anything to look forward to after clearing another level.

Really enjoying the downsampled, chunky, pixelated graphics paired with the dark and moody aesthetic—it’s a treat for retro-style fans. The controls are snappy and responsive, making gameplay feel smooth. While the game can feel repetitive at times, it’s perfect for short bursts of play. Not bad game but too simplistic. Each arena you do the same - find the keystone and destroy it holding a key, killing monsters is optional. Bosses are the same, circle stafe them unloading bullets until its dead. Enemies are not very varied as well as possible modifiers you get through the sessions.

Why no thumbs down then? Because it was done by small studio and definitely could become something even better if the budget was not about 2 big macs. Visuals are alright and matching, do not have the vibes of being asset flipped, performance is solid through entire playthrough. There is some passion and quality put into it.

If you seek a wizard-fps roguelike with much more content, play Ziggurat. But if you get this game as a part of bundle or very heavily discounted, please give this game a chance. It's also very easy to 100% achievements with just one requiring to do some specific challenge.

I liked it, got pretty repetitive, but i liked the combat overall. There was some interesting combos with abilities. I like the roguelike gameplay style. Not much lore and the final boss was little too easy but I still would recommend giving it a go.

· 除了自己没有其他的人，其他的人都是一个带铃铛的门，后面找的的村民也是...制作组到时挺省事的...
· 每个副本一共5层，
前四层每层有4个祭台，
每个祭坛有2个门可以选择，不同门获得的颗粒不一样，另外还有治疗室可以恢复生命值（感觉是50%）、迷失者室能找到村民、休憩室有宝箱和日记、血魔法室用生命值换技能（配合治疗室使用）是没有怪的，摧毁基石就会退出当前房间，先搜集颗粒！搜集齐所有颗粒会有提示。
黄金颗粒、奥术颗粒、火焰颗粒可以带走，刷新颗粒，好运颗粒、血气颗粒离开副本会消失
血液颗粒上限是10点激活假死，每次用了假死之后会清空并增加上限，满了就没用了
最后一层只有boss

· 角落的炮塔和站在石台上的怪有点不容易发现
拥有远程能力的敌人还挺多的，射程也挺远的，怪的警戒距离也挺长的，有的怪还会飞，基石附近原本没有敌人的竟然会突然刷新也是措手不及（前面刷新敌人的时候注意身后有时也有）
音效也是，怪和音效的时间有点不匹配啊
地图绿色池子是毒液，有洞是地刺，有蔓藤...反正看着不对的都会扣血...跳过去跳过去...

喜欢机关枪一样突突突突突突的技能，左右手差不多能同时施法。
其实看起来不太好玩，但是rogue游戏又没有剧情只需要杀杀杀，不小心死回来了真的不甘心想再来一次...
主角的两只小胖爪子，初看有点恶心心，看久了还有点丑萌丑萌的...唔...不行...还是不能细看...

Somewhere between an acid trip and an eldritch nightmare, this game was a great ride. It's pretty short, and there's no voiced dialogue, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. There was enough lore and story through dialogue and notes to keep me interested. The main meat and bones of this game are its fast-paced, small-scale levels, packed with nasties. You've got plenty of spells and upgrades for your arsenal, and I soon found myself getting into the swing of things with an enjoyable build. Great for when you just wanna shoot some ♥♥♥♥ without a massive time commitment. Good stuff!

Game play is stale and repetitive in a genre where it doesn't add anything new or interesting. Combat is slow and cluncky. You will find yourself sticking to one or two weapon types. There is not a lot of variety. I have only seen 6 or 7 different weapon types. This makes runs super repetitive. I have gotten stuck on the floor multiple times just to die to enemies. The NPCs are boring and offer nothing of substance to the "story" that is present. Sadly, Into the Pit doesn't add anything to the watered down genre of FPS action roguelikes.

Enjoying the downsampled, chunky, pixelated graphics and dark, moody aesthetic. Controls are snappy and responsive. The game feels kind of repetitive at times, but I play for 30-60 mins (a successful run usually takes about 30-45 mins) at a time about once every 2-3 months and I always really enjoy it. Runs great on the Steam Deck, too!

I love the art style, love the roguelike FPS mechanics, and boomer-shooter movement gives the game a very strong start. However, the randomness dries up quickly and I never felt like there was a lot of experimentation needed so it ended up falling flat. Check out my full review at GameCritics.com!

Cool concept, wish there was more depth, but I got this game for $3 so I can't complain too much.

My biggest complaint is the lack of shot types, that makes the gameplay feel more monotonous than it is, is the fact that there's so little upfront variety in firing types.

If a dev is reading this, I'd take notes from Lichdom Battlemage for how spell design could operate. This game is trying for something similar to that, but I think Lichdom has a stronger sense of progression with it's modular spells, for all that game's faults.

Is a good game - but I encounter a bug with the door system - the door at depth 5 closes and spawns more enemies. Then I was stuck on that room.

I lost everything I gathered since i had to exit to menu.

I will continue playing after some time since this bug is frustrating.

I didn't like it at all. The game tries too hard to emulate Doom but with a wizard's characterization, which is a serious mistake. What's the point of throwing slow-moving magic balls that cause area damage when I move so fast? You almost always end up hurting yourself. Not recommended.

Nice little game with interesting looks that is reminiscent of Hexen or Heretic. Don't expect a deep story or a lot of variation, but if you like those older games and if you're in for a bit of magical boomboom with nice music and interesting skills, this might be for you.

"Into the Pit" is a retro shooter, basically a ripoff of Heretic/Hexen, but with more limited gameplay concept and the developers didn't bother doing any content, it's all procgen. Which is the chief reason this fails hard... they want $15 USD for a retro game without any content, and that must be a joke or something.

On the upside, the game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. Unfortunately there's a number of other technical defects and shortcomings which contribute to the game being difficult to recommend to gamers.

The game features low-polygon "retro" assets with 2D retro pixel "art" textures on them, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the early 1990s. This very poor quality visual style is a method that lazy devs often use to disguise their lack of talent/interest in doing the graphics properly and trying to disguise it under the name of "art", or "We made it look bad on purpose", which really isn't something gamers should have to put up with. I know this is a definitely deliberate decision to make a boomer shooter, but it doesn't work well, especially because of the ugly and inauthentic blur filter over the game. It looks bad as a result of their decisions, worse, it doesn't authentically recreate the 1990's vibe the developer is hoping people will accept instead of doing their job properly, and that's just another reason to avoid it.

The game features no proper level design or game/story flow/plot, as they opted to try to use samey repetitive procgen algorithms as a substitute for adding such content to the game, to avoid doing the important job of level/map design. As a result, the game doesn't actually have any content worth mentioning, just endless, boring, repetitive, soulless algorithmically generated sameyness. Developers must learn that procedural generation is not an acceptable substitute for content.

These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.

"Into the Pit" didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for collecting 100 "Motes of Wealth", trivial to get, but less than 21 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. Hardly a success story, gamers just weren't all that interested in the game.

The game never really caught on with the millions of gamers on Steam, with a very low peak player count close to launch, and then just a handful of players launching this game every couple of days. This is undoubtedly caused by factors such as those raised in this review. It's always helpful with buying decisions to consider how popular and successful the product is, and unfortunately while this did accumulate a few participation trophy reviews, overall, people just aren't using it.

So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam?

"Into the Pit" has the cash grab price of $15 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. Got this in a humblebundle and honestly don't know why there are so many bad reviews. Played for 19 hours and it didn't get boring. It's just a neat little roguelite.
Also its a roguelite - of course there will some sort of repetition. I feel like some people here have not played games of this genre lol.

There are enough base weapons (or rather spells) and modifiers to get many different builds and the story is more than enough for a roguelite. It's short, intriguing and fits to the game's atmosphere.
The atmosphere is amazing by the way. It leads to an amazingly fast paced doom-style cacophony of demon blood splatter, dopamine and focus.

There's a lot to like about the game, it's pretty, all the mechanics seems to work as intended, it's got progression and rouge like elements.

but it just feels kinda dull... All the weapons feel kinda the same, it's kinda easy, and you immediately have to grind if you want to see new content. I beat the first pit first try and ended up needing to grind if I wanted to see anything new and just lost interest. It wasn't that much fun the first time and to do it again ehh.

I wanted to like it but I just couldn't get into it, it's a shame really.

I like the main loop in this one, It's pretty fun. Every raid you have to choose from a random set of weapons, upgrades and defensive abilities. Some can significantly affect the gameplay, or at least the difficulty. The audio is alright, does the job, and the visuals are actually quite nice if you appreciate pixel art. What I don't like is that this game is very repetitive. If you've played the first raid, you've played them all. The modifiers that can be applied to them do mix things up, but not significantly enough to break the monotony. Level layouts are mostly boring, some can be a little frustrating. I have completed the game over a period of a few months, as It's [b]only enjoyable in short sessions.[/b]

Ok game. Had promise but development has been abandoned. Run a few dungeons you played the whole game. Final dungeon and boss are easier than the first and a huge let down. Grab it on a massive discount like i did and you won't be so disappointed with the repetition. Until then, pass on this one.

Pomysł nie jest zły - w roguelitowym konfigurujemy naszego czarodzieja (czy kogośtam) poprzez dodanie po jednej broni do każdej ręki plus cecha rdzenia. Przechodzimy coraz głębsze magiczne lochy, ratując mieszkańców wioski i tym samym odblokowujac kolejne ulepszania i następne lochy.

Niestety, kolejne lokacje i przeciwnicy są tak podobne do siebie, że wszystko zlewa się ze sobą, stając nudnym i nijakim. Jakoś trudno mi to polecić, nawet specyficzny styl graficzny działa tu na minus, wyglądając lepiej na screenach niż w rzeczywistości. Są lepsze rogaliki fpp.

Die Grafik erfüllt ihren Zweck nicht (ein Fadenkreuz, welches genauso gut ein Kantenflimmern sein könnte bringt nichts) und die Geschichte wird über Textboxen erzählt, die man durch ein anstrengendes Leuten aktiviert. Auch das Spielgefühl während der Kämpfe erinnert eher an Traktionsverlaust bei Tempo 30 auf der Landstraße, als an ein gutes Spiel.

When it comes to roguelike FPS games you expect a fun experience. This game failed to deliver in being fun. This is barely a roguelike. The level layouts are the same after an hour or two of playtime and they never change, not once. You only use one weapon with 4 or 5 different layouts. Enemy designs come off as basic and generic, Worth pointing out that enemy path finding is broken. Flying enemies walk up and down stairs for example instead of flying towards you. Levels are way too small and i would end up being stuck on the walls sometimes taking damage. The general gameplay loop is terrible for a roguelike if i am being dead honest. So you have runes that lead you to a new dungeon and you combine these runes to unlock new areas. So 15 dungeons and 45 villagers to rescue, the problem becomes when you end up fighting each boss expect the final one 5+ times. And you once you know what each logo means you can easily choose the area that take up the least amount of time to complete a depth. At depth 5 you fight a boss and bosses in this game are a joke. Usually they are very lame and it's the same for almost expect the last boss. So get the boss to half health, fight enemies that come out and then kill the boss. It's very easy and boring. Worth pointing out you can't hear enemies if you don't turn off the music and still you will have a hard time hearing enemies coming towards you, so you might be shooting at an enemy and you look around and the enemy is 2 or 3 meters away from you and you almost take damage. The enemies do have sound cues but you can barely hear them most of time, in the heat of battle. Combat is fun but too easy, you use different shooting layouts like fan or cannon for enemies which would be alright if there where more then 5 choices as previously mentioned. Ending was underwhelming as they i think teased a sequel and the game just ends with no conclusion to the story. Oh yeah this game has a story but it's very forgettable and they don't do anything to make the story stand out besides the gameplay loop. This in a way feels more like a proof of concept demo to me but it has zero new ideas. You fight the same enemies, play through same level layouts with the same few shooting layouts for a few hours, 100% completion took me 12.3 hours but a normal playthrough should take at 5 to 8 hours. There is no reason to go for the 100% unless you are an achievement hunter. So time to wrap the review up. What we have here in the package is the repetitive gameplay loop, samey level layouts,non existent story. It's ticks the box for me about being a terrible and underwhelming boomer shooter. Potential is there but they wasted it like a drunk sailor. And the optimization on integrated graphics was garbage,should have been better.
A 4/10 seems like a good rating overall but if you don't like FPS games or roguelikes this will be nothing special. For those that like these types of games ,you will find a shallow and boring experience that you wish ,was better made since shooting feels good,story needs some work and the rest needs to be scrapped and made better. The rating might be high for some considering what i said, but it feels just right in the overall ,counting in everything department.

I didn't realize that I play FPSs for the architecture until I tried this game and realized how much bad level design hurts my enjoyment. The levels are boring, all the same, "randomly" generated (but I've seen the same levels several times, so I think that's a lie, it's more like "lazily" generated). They attempt to make up for the boring design with a heaping helping of retro visual post processing VFX, but it just ends up looking like pixelated mush.

The only really GOOD part: you almost always have the option to run around with the equivalent of a rocket launcher as your primary weapon, and you have unlimited ammo for all your weapons, so I actually use it unlike in most FPSs. Too bad it's kind of weak, making the other guns that can't hurt you a better option most of the time, even if they are less fun.

In the end this game isn't bad, it's just MEH in every way. With so many games released every week on steam there are far better games to play (for instance, instead of this play: DUSK, AMID Evil, Prodeus, etc etc).

Upthumb:
This game is short, fast paced and action packed.
It is perfect for quick, < 30 min gaming sessions.
Cool and appealing visual style.

Downthumb:
If you are looking for an engaging and detailed storyline, this isn't it.
Lore is nearly non-existent.
Village is basically barren, it is just a hub of shops for upgrades.

I recommend this game for rapid, mindless fun. Otherwise, maybe give it a pass.

Edit: I first played Into The Pit on PC Game Pass trial/discount period and unlocked all of the achievements. This is rather easy to do. Purchased a Steam copy of this game at a deep discount later on. I am not a fan of Game Pass, but do like to periodically revisit and pew pew the monsters and bosses of Into The Pit.

Played to death on Xbox Game Pass before it left, just HAD to re-buy it here.

I feel like boomer shooter/roguelite enjoyers have really slept on this gem. It's clean and simple running and shooting in bite-sized levels against a set of enemies whose variety you influence through a selection of unlocks to reconfigure the dungeon.

There's a decent variety of spell types, boosts, and combos that keep each run interesting as you work on your build synergies, and the meta-progression is targeted and meaningful, always offering you a reasonable degree of control over what type of power you want to pursue. I also personally dig the over-saturated, over-bloomed visual effect, but some might want to tone that down a little.

There's a real beauty to its gradual addition of complexity, while keeping the underlying basics of room-clear-get-power simple. Best of all, it's not over-long. You aren't signing up for a second job with this one, butting your head up against 'git gud' skill checks that you can't overpower. It's achievable, which is something a lot of rogue-lites don't do - wasting your time with 'failed run' build combos that screw you from the start.

I've seen a lot of new rogue-lite shooters trying with middling success to do what Into the Pit has already done better and earlier. More folks should take lessons from Into the Pit.

I imagined this to be a fun rogue-lite magician boomer shooter.
Combine spells to create a new one, level up, collect loot/resources and gain random buffs etc.
But it turned out to be not that.
Spells are all pretty samey especially in their visual style (you basically ever shood shard-like projectiles in different colors with an occasional orb spread inbetween), not you shooting lightning out of your hands, not you flamethrowing, placing magma on the floor, swirling enemies away with windforce, no poison cloud or throwing rocks in their face.
You simply get the equivalents of sniper/assault rifle, SMG and Shotgun shot out of your hands.
Boring.

Its also all arena based and they repeat pretty fast, some arenas are even pretty bothersome.
Its all timepressured too, no real looting or gathering either, meta progression is boring, because the spells you get are boring.
You can have some hours of fun, but its insane how much potential was wasted here.
Especially in a time where loot-extractor shooters and the action-rogue-like are two of the more popular design ideas floating around, this could have been a great singleplayer variant of Brotato mixed with Zero Sievert.

Instead its a generic arena shooter with repeating contents.

I say get Crab Champions instead. Its kind of what this should have been, just with cool magicians.
Into the Pit could have become a Hype-Game, but became something you dust off after a few years to check back and realize why you forgot about it.

魔法背景fps复古游戏，正如游戏名深入地牢，就是在一层一层的刷怪。总共16个大地牢，每个地牢5层，每层四小关，每过一小关都会获得一个buff。
这游戏刚开始玩的时候挺坐牢，因为死了就直接返回出生地。后续玩了一会，把套路熟悉就有点意思了，最后就演变成刷刷刷了。
接下来说一下通关套路，武器带散弹和任意一把远程武器，符文带运气，生命和力量。前期打进运气门收集运气粒子，收集到50以上就差不多了，然后进个血液门集满个假死，后续就缺什么就进什么门。buff全选叠伤害的，而且尽量给散弹那只手，boss战靠近用喷子喷几秒就熄火了，之后正常清小怪，boss二形态同样套路，喷几秒boss就没了。打不过可以用sl大发，快死了直接返回开始界面，再读档重打熟悉熟悉套路很容易过。
最后说一下成就，主要是收集日记的成就，总共36篇日记。前34篇正常收集，后两篇需打赢最终boss。而且打完最终boss游戏直接结束，也就是说，在进入最后一个大地牢前，必须收集完前34篇日记，否则就像我一样读档重开了。
总体来说，地图重复，小怪也基本换皮，打到后面基本都能摸清套路，但还是挺有意思，无聊玩玩也不错。

"Into the Pit" se zdála být slibnou rogue-like hrou, která by mohla nabídnout zábavný a výzvou nabitý herní zážitek. Nicméně, realita je daleko od toho, co by hráč mohl očekávat. Tato hra je nejen jednou z nejrepetitivnějších her, které jsem kdy hrál, ale i zcela zbavena originality a inovace, což ji zanechává na chabém místě v herním světě.

Již od prvních okamžiků hraní je patrné, že variabilita a kreativita byly výrazně opomíjeny. Hra se skládá z opakujících se místností, které lze bez nadsázky rozdělit do deseti jasně daných vzorů. Tento nedostatek inovace představuje největší zklamání. Místo toho, aby hráč objevoval nové a zajímavé prostředí, je neustále soustředěn na stejné až monotónní prostředí, což vede k rychlému ztrátě zájmu.

Grafika je dalším bodem, který nutí k zaváhání. Ačkoli jsem vyznavačem retro grafiky, vizuální podoba hry "Into the Pit" bolí oči. Kombinace primitivních modelů postav a náhodně se opakujících textur vytváří dojem, že jsem se vrátil zpět do dob, kdy byly technické omezení na denním pořádku. Místo toho, aby retro grafika byla vkusně provedeným estetickým prvkem, působí na hráče spíše rušivě a odrazuje od dalšího hraní.

Soudtrack, který by mohl sloužit k posílení atmosféry hry, se stává spíše kontraproduktivním prvkem. Hudba je nevýrazná, nesoudržná a často dokonce nepřiměřená k dění na obrazovce. Místo toho, aby hudba přidala k hernímu zážitku, často ho narušovala a vytrhávala mě ze hry.

Nemohu nezmínit ani posledního bosse, který byl zdánlivě navržen s cílem maximálně frustrujícího zážitku. Nejenže byl nesmírně jednoduchý, ale jeho obtížnost byla založena na náhodném faktoru spíše než na dovednostech hráče. Toto je posledním hřebíčkem do rakve, co se týče celkového zklamání ze hry.

V neposlední řadě, i když by tato hra měla být rogue-like, nabízí minimální možnosti pro vylepšování postavy a interakci se světem. Tím pádem se hratelnost a motivace hráče omezují na minimum.

Celkově lze říct, že "Into the Pit" je hrou, kterou rozhodně nedoporučuji hrát. Je to ztráta času, který by mohl být věnován jiným, mnohem kvalitnějším herním zážitkům. Repetitivní prostředí, nevkusná retro grafika, nepříjemný soudtrack, frustrující poslední boss a nedostatek možností pro vylepšování postavy společně tvoří koktejl, který by mohl zkazit náladu i nejtrpělivějším hráčům.

i have mixed feelings about this game. on one hand the atheistic of the game is cool kinda crusty but i like it. it has a cool loot system where you collect orbs to either buy things, increase your luck, re-roll your power selection, or give you a revive. game-play is fine and the enemies are fun, but that's about all i can say that is just positive.

the overall level design is bland... filled with copy pasted levels through the entire thing, the only real change being the enemies in said levels. the overall difficulty of the game is easy even with the hard mode rune used where you take double damage making it more of a buff then anything because you get double of the orbs mentioned previously. the soundtrack is very mellow for a fast paced fps, it sounds like it wants to sound like doom 2016s sound track but falls short in every way. lastly the game is kind of glitchy as i have been soft locked because i somehow missed a spawn trigger in a room that locks you in so once i went to leave it locked me in said room with no way to open it because i used the one time use key. i have also been killed because an enemy spawned on me while in a boss fight and instantly attacked me killing me then and there.

all in all the game is pretty much as ok as you can get, nothing is awful but nothing that makes it decent or great either. if the game was like $5 i would say it would be worth it so get it if it ever goes on sale i guess.

It's not terrible but there's a lot of better games out there, has some cool ideas that weren't implemented in a great way. You get 2 weapons and some upgrades each run but its not balanced at all, why use poison if i can just upgrade damage and 2 shot the enemies? Picking the map is neat where you combine 2 different dungeon keys to go into a new one, mixing the visuals and enemies of each but because of the art style it all looked kinda the same, only certain enemies/areas showed off the differences well. The boss fights are boring, running in a circle and shooting it, then killing minions while the boss is invulnerable. Worst part is the weird grind, you unlock the ability to buy upgrades as you save the towns people (who don't show up in town or expand it) but I had enough currency to upgrade fully immediately as they got unlocked, so i was out of progression. The story is read through notes (I somehow beat the game without collecting them all) and the boss that says the same couple lines to you every time you see them. Overall too easy and It just didn't feel like the game was fully fleshed out.
