I'm sorry, as much as I loved the concept and the artbook, it was so boring. I have never fallen asleep playing a horror game before. Но играть в это невозможно, первые минут 20 интересно, дальше начинается скука смертная. Зачем тут тег "хоррор" я не поняла. Прошла 4 рабочих дня и запросила возврат денег. A delightfully whimsical and creepy concept that is executed decently. This game has a fatal flaw, however: Excessive arbitrary downtime. I memorized the new anomaly entries each day within maybe a minute, so I was left to scroll on my phone between calls. The voice acting also goes much quicker than the typing of its transcript, yet you still must wait in silence until the transcript finishes typing (Sometimes an extra 10 seconds) to put the caller on hold. I got so bored that I began timing the time between calls and how long it took for each transcript to finish. The longest space between calls was around 30 seconds, and the longest call neared a minute. What would have been a fun analog horror concept instead was a painful slog to get through.

Really enjoyed my brief time at Home Safety Hotline, it rewards careful thinking and memorisation and the employee discounts are legendary!

I really liked the idea behind this game and I quite enjoyed my week working there.

That being said, I wanted more. Some of the clues given didn't always fit the information we had, making me blind guess a lot of the answers. And a lot of the more interesting hazards wasn't even used. I wanted to feel more like a little researcher than someone simply guessing.

There are some quality of life features I'd wish to see as well, my memory of names isn't as good so when someone calls me back I wish there was an "call history" button to see previous conversations with said caller. I think seeing what exactly I advised together with the call going wrong would underline the horror a little bit more. I also desperately need to be able to jump to a section by pressing a letter rather than having to scroll up and down endlessly. It became quite tedious toward the end.

I understand it is a proper story, but I'd rather have all the calls randomized each run or have some sort of extra endless run simply so I could properly go through all the hazards and see what happens when things go wrong.

That being said, I really loved the game. It's unique enough and it's clear the developer loves it.

A really nice experience that blends (in the creator's own words from an unlockable artbook) various folklore creatures with analog horror in the likes of Gemini and similar.
The gameplay itself is extremely simple : you read the creature entries , listen to the customers calls and identify what creature/event protocol you need to activate, all with a weird plot unfolding. The process may be simple, but reaching 100% accuracy on all days is actually not easy at all, as sometimes you'll need to work only with your memory, [spoiler] or when the calls will be just cryptic riddles by the end of the main game [/spoiler].
Overall I had quite the fun in reading the creatures entries (this game is definitely recommended to weird folklore/ supernatural critters fans), and I appreciate the whole 90s aesthetic .
There's also an equally short dlc ( [spoiler] 4 days [/spoiler] duration) that i would recommend if you liked the main game, as it is literally more of the same with new creature entries.
p.d. the artbook was a really nice touch, it tells the story of how the game was initially conceived and later created, giving behind-the-scenes details on the creatures' pictures making

Pains me to say it, but currently, 15 is too high a price for this game. I got the big achievement, I played the extra mode, but still only have 12 hours of gameplay on it and have no desire to continue due to poor game mechanics. I love the concept, it's creative, it's genius, it's everything I love about analog horror--but the execution... ugh.

* Some of the creatures murder children and animals. Not really a complaint, just a bit of a content warning. I don't mind fae-tal conditions as much as I dislike dead animal stuff. It's not egregious though, just really sad.
* It tries a little TOO hard to make itself difficult, to the point where sometimes the solutions are illogical.
* There is this OVERWHELMINGLY OBNOXIOUS mechanic that's supposed to make things harder, and it does: by essentially forcing you to memorize every single entry in the entire list. So as per above, you get a tricky call and suddenly it's "haha, not only are the answers illogical at times, now you can't even READ THEM, haha! Isn't that fun?" NO. It's irritating beyond words and really sucks so much enjoyment out of the game.
* The endless mode also has a TIMER OF LESS THAN 2 MINUTES, really hammering in the fact that you are not allowed to have any fun whatsoever. Screw your anxiety and your memory issues and your easily distractible squirrel brain issues, we're going to ensure the least amount of accessibility possible by making all the things most people find unfun mandatory! Why?! And this, on a mode that didn't exist when the game was released, so many people probably don't even know it's a thing.

I hate being harsh on an indie developer, but I have to. OTOH, I also feel like this wouldn't be too hard to fix. Just control the content for logic rather than forced difficulty, take out the incredibly stupid and annoying "Network Error" bs, and remove the blasted fun-ruining timer. Then again, I'm not a programmer, so that's just a wild guess.

I actually DID want to keep playing this game, for the record. I just can't stand timers; they irritate my brain to the point where I can't think straight and my indecisiveness leads me to impulsive bad choices. So I'm definitely not going to get the full value out of this otherwise fun and well-written catalog of crazy home safety issues.

It'd be great if someday I could come back, reinstall, and just play the "call training" mode for fun, but right now that's sadly just not possible.

If you like SCP, dark humour, and that 90s retro aesthetic then this is an easy recommend. Actually it's kind of like working in a call centre for the SCP foundation so if that sounds nice then it's an even easier recommend.

However, skip it if you're just after a puzzle game as what's here is fairly simple and at times slightly too cryptic. The weird entities and the way they mess with humans is the star of the show, and the puzzles definitely come second to that.

That's ok though - if you dig those other things you'll have a great time even when you're inadvertently causing horrific things to happen to all those people who trusted you to help them in their time of need.

Also, the DLC is more of the same and rad, so well worth picking up if you enjoyed the main game

Really fun and inspired game. Outstays its welcome a little - the arbitrary 7 day cycle feels a bit long and would do better to be a 5 days + 1 boss kind of situation, but the game doesn't take itself too seriously and feels improvisational and fun. I was expecting a lot of jump scares but there weren't really any, which I appreciated a lot. I think the price may turn some people off as the game is only around 3 hours long, but grab it on sale and have a nice time.

While the idea is great, the game gets stale very quickly. At its core it's a problem solving game - you have to match the help request from a hotline to a list of potential pests. However, there are at times where the request isn't clear enough. There isn't much payoff in the ending, either. Love this game! I finished it in less than 4 hours so it's short, but well worth the price still, especially if you catch it on sale. There is a challenge mode available after you finish the game, plus some bonus options after your promotion! I will definitely be purchasing the DLC soon.

Home Safety Hotline is a short game. Including the DLC and a second playthrough to unlock all achievements, I spent around 8 hours with it.

I have experience working in dispatch, and I genuinely enjoyed noticing some similarities in the way callers describe their problems.

The game is essentially a puzzle experience. You listen to callers, analyze their issues, and select the appropriate protocol. You cannot ask follow-up questions, which at times can be slightly frustrating.

On its own, this would get boring very quickly. The atmosphere is what truly elevates it. It’s not just “normal” problems like ticks or mold, but also monsters and other strange phenomena. Those, combined with the feeling of sitting in front of a 90s PC, create a unique vibe.

I really enjoyed the lore and found the detailed protocols about the different entities very interesting.

And that’s why I’d call it:

[h3]7/10 – Good[/h3] A solid game. Fun to play, has its rough edges, but overall a good experience.

I struggled between choosing whether or not I recommend this game, but I had to settle with what I was left with after playing it: disappointment.
I really wanted to like this game. The creepy, mysterious atmosphere, the vintage tech aesthetic akin to the “analog horror” genre, and the work of amazing freelance artists all make for great visual appeal… But when it comes to the game itself, it leaves a lot to be desired. I was under the impression that the calls the player would get would be selected at random, but it turns out the entire game is a linear sequence of events, which hinders the replayability immensely and makes its price a bit steep. The only reason left to replay [i]Home Safety Hotline[/i] would be to get the “100% Accuracy” achievement, an arduous task of trial and error, if not for the Community Guides. It wouldn’t be arduous at all if the hints given to the player actually correlated to the information used to identify the hazard. More than once, the following situation occurs (spoiler free example):

Caller: “I hear scratching in the walls at night, I can’t sleep.”

List:
Entity A: Identified by its squeaking and scratching noises in the walls.
Entity B: Active at night time, scratches in the walls.
Entity C: Active at night time, squeaks and leaves droplets.

There are more than one entity that present with scratching noises, but only one is active at night time. So naturally, the player picks that one.
Turns out it wasn’t option B, not even option A, but instead option C. So much for problem solving. Plus, if you do follow through the “100% Accuracy” run, the ending is… not rewarding at all, to say the least.
Overall, [i]Home Safety Hotline[/i] deserved a lot more time in development, to really flesh out an interesting story and a dynamic sequence of events. Being aware that the team behind it is composed of only two people, I believe some collaboration with other game developers, or at least some constructive feedback, would’ve done this game a lot of favors.

Really fun to play late at night, especially when the house is quiet. The fantasy creatures used and their descriptions were really cool, like grimms fairytales meets insurance company training material. This was an interesting and fun analog horror game! The gameplay was very fun, and it makes for a nice 2-hr playthrough if you're wanting something short.

My only gripe is that i wish the trigger filters were a bit more detailed, i wish i could've removed bed bugs as an option for my whole play through, rather than just removing the photos for all insects. But in all i was able to avoid clicking on that page fairly easily, i was just overly cautious when clicking around the Bs. I know that gripe is unrealistic for a smaller game company.

A fantastic short little horror game with emaculate vibes.

Heavily inspired by analague horror series like Local 58 or Gemini Home Entertainment, but with it's own great ideas and world building. I appreciate the restrained horror, but it does have one weird quirk to it.

Failure often leads to seeing (well, hearing) more content than success. And while there are achievements and a few incentives to doing well, they don't really outweight the possible intrigue from a followup call.

Worth picking up any of that sounds good, looking forward to the next game from the studio.

I don't think I have ever played a game that made my anxiety and paranoia flare up this much in my entire life. The concept of using folklores and fairytales and grounding it in reality for it's monsters, the fantastic auditory horror, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ THE VOICE ACTING! This world might be the worst video game world to ever live in, period. What do you mean the most dangerous entities just ever so casually blend into EVERYTHING!? I never expected a game like this to make me genuinely paranoid at night... and that paranoia got SO MUCH WORSE after playing the DLC!

I went in expecting a fun puzzle game and some silly nostalgia, and I came out with the agonizing screams of so many innocent callers ringing in my head for all of eternity... 100/10

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go leave a bowl of cream out on the kitchen floor real quick~

This was genuinely such a fun game. 100% worth the $20 I spent on it. I work in a call center and I loved seeing aspects of that in the game. I've had a fascination with folklore and mythology since I was little, so all of this just had me captured the entire time. I was locked in. I'm excited to play it again and go for 100%!

This game was a truly unique experience. It mixes analog horror and "anomaly finder" games, while being a great horror experience that doesn't rely on cheap jumpscares to work. This was a lovely game, I really enjoyed it. You really don't see fae often enough in a horror setting and it caught me off guard slightly, in a good way. I also really like the puzzle element, you are given enough time to figure it out yourself, and even if you lose it feels fair. :)

This is a delightful indie game. I don't remember how I wound up coming across it (random Steam recommendation?), but I remember reading the description and NEEDING IT. My memory, alas, is not what it used to be, so I did use a little bit of wiki aid toward the end of the week, but it's a clever game quite in the style of horror games I prefer. Brain-screwy, not jump scare. I think there are some story elements I'm still missing, having only "won" the game, but I'll have to poke around and see what else I can find out.

A fun little game about helping strangers with issues in their home. Probably won't go in the direction you're thinking it will, so if you're thinking this is a conventional supernatural/horror game you may not appreciate it as much, but I did like it!

If you're unsure I'd maybe grab it on sale, though, as it's rather short and the gameplay is very repetitive after day 2. I still enjoyed it, and it comes with an art book!

Awesome game, really creepy at moments.
This game and especially the final day really got my brain gears turning. Absolutely adore the Hobbs and their capability of metamorphosis and all the different kinds of creatures and their solutions.
The story is really engaging and the way Supervisor Carol gets more thespian as the week progresses really gave me some shivers.
David Johnses also did a good job at capturing the vibe in the soundtrack.
So amazing. Wish there were more secrets and achievements. I do very much reccomend the game.
