Havent played a Harvest Moon in years. Have this one for 3ds. Number one...its on a big screen and I can see it better!!!! lol Its a lovely game to relax and play with quest to do, collect to your hearts content and the story line is great. As in all HM games when first starting watch your stamina. But will get better as game progresses.
This Game so much pain, many Grinding and Loading Screen Everywhere? This is the worst Harvest moon Ever.
A great addition to Harvest Moon games!
This game is 'Wonderful" for players of all ages!!! It's so fun loving to be in this growing your corps, meeting people, fixing their houses so they can return home. mining the caves, and fishing is everybody's favorite in game sport!!!
Nice lay back game and has things to find and discover as well request to complete.
Harvest Moon: Light of Hope opens with a premise that immediately sets it apart from many previous entries in the long-running series. Rather than inheriting a peaceful farm or arriving in a bustling town ready to welcome you, you begin by washing ashore in a small coastal village that has been devastated by a violent storm. Buildings are in ruins, the lighthouse has gone dark, and the townspeople have dispersed in defeat. Your arrival becomes the catalyst for change — you’re not merely farming to sustain yourself, but working to rebuild an entire community and restore the light that once guided ships safely to shore. This gives the early hours a sense of purpose that goes beyond routine farm life, as every crop harvested and every material gathered contributes tangibly to the town’s revival.
The gameplay itself blends classic Harvest Moon staples with a stronger emphasis on repair, crafting, and communal restoration. Farming remains at the core — planting, watering, harvesting, and expanding your fields — but Light of Hope structures these tasks so they feed directly into the town’s reconstruction. You’ll gather lumber, stone, herbs, ores, and other resources to repair homes, fix bridges, reopen shops, and gradually bring back villagers who fled after the disaster. This gives the sense that your work has weight, and the visual transformation of the town reinforces that. As fishermen return, inns reopen, and new characters settle into their repaired homes, it feels like you are breathing life back into the world piece by piece.
A major appeal of Light of Hope is its accessible and streamlined design, making it ideal for players who want a low-pressure farming experience. Tool management is simplified, with automatic tool selection removing much of the cumbersome micromanagement found in older entries. Daily tasks take less time to complete, freeing players to focus on broader goals like exploration, relationship-building, or restoring the lighthouse. This efficiency makes the game relaxing to play — the kind of slow-paced loop where tending crops, feeding animals, mining for resources, and talking to villagers becomes a pleasant rhythm rather than a demanding routine. It’s an inviting entry point for newcomers and a nostalgic return for veterans who enjoy a more classic, uncomplicated formula.
However, the game’s simplicity also works against it at times. Compared to modern life-simulation titles or the more complex farming systems found in other games, Light of Hope can feel shallow. Once the main objective — restoring the lighthouse and bringing the town back to life — is completed, the remaining activities rely on familiar, sometimes repetitive loops. Relationship-building exists, and marriage is possible, but character depth is limited, and events tied to villager interactions are more modest than in other installments. Players seeking rich character arcs, intricate farming mechanics, or expansive post-game content may find themselves wishing for deeper layers and more varied long-term goals.
The art direction has been a common point of debate. Light of Hope adopts a hybrid style that blends simple 3D models with bright, clean 2D backgrounds. While functional and colorful, the visuals often appear dated or lacking in polish. Character models, in particular, can feel stiff or simplistic, which some fans found disappointing, especially when compared to more visually refined farming games released around the same time. The presentation isn’t unpleasant, but it lacks the charm and warmth that usually enrich the cozy farming genre.
Despite these criticisms, Light of Hope succeeds in delivering a comforting, earnest experience. There is something gratifying about seeing a ruined town slowly return to life because of your efforts, and the gentle pacing supports a gameplay loop focused on relaxation rather than challenge. The crop mutation system adds a bit of experimentation for those who enjoy discovering new varieties, and the steady cadence of rebuilding and restoring gives the game a soft sense of progression. It’s a title best suited for players who enjoy simplicity, cozy pacing, and straightforward goals rather than complexity or expansive mechanics.
In the end, Harvest Moon: Light of Hope is a modest, heartfelt farming-and-town-restoration sim that aims to capture the classic spirit of the series while introducing a narrative frame built around renewal and rebuilding. It may not reach the mechanical depth or visual polish of some modern competitors, but it offers a tranquil, purpose-driven experience that resonates with players who appreciate quiet, incremental progress. It’s the kind of game that rewards patience, invites relaxation, and provides a gentle journey toward bringing light — literally and figuratively — back to a once-forgotten town.

YES
love this game. very fun and interacttive
Honestly really lacks the magic of previous Harvest Moon games.
I loved HM A Wonderful Life and HW DS, but this is an empty shell of a HM game.
Gone is the cosy, lively feeling of the world. None of these characters feel fleshed out or real. All NPCs either love seashells or flowers basically. It's so surface level. No feeling of relationships between them or how they relate to the island in any way that motivates you to save it.
For some reason they've also dispensed with the mechanic of letting the NPCs walk around. Instead they just fade in and out of existence at different places at different times.
It's a nice change to have an overarching plot to a HM game rather than just marriage and kids, but it's so so short. Completed it by Fall Year 1. Like the only reason I have 46 hours in the game is because I'm playing whilst working from home so hours are being spent on the pause screen in between working.
The story line again also feels very surface level. We're constantly told that we have to restore the lighthouse to 'save' the island and afterwards that things are not just saved, but better. But nothing change. Nothing looks different, no visual anything to reward you for completing the main story.
The mining mechanic is better than older games. It's nice that you actually have to progress in the mines in order to upgrade tools and unlock buildings. The inclusion of the multiplayer pixie thing really helps too.
Really not a lot else to the game.
It's cute! It's no Stardew Valley, but it's in that vein, and the crop mutations are a fun feature you don't see elsewhere. It's worth playing when I want a SDV-flavored farm sim but I don't want to have to pay attention to too many processes and details. It's simpler, and that's both a pro and a con depending on the day and mood I'm in. Worth having in my library, though, for sure!
Sconsiglio
I know this game typically isn't that popular, but this truly is my favorite HM game. The map is pretty small, but I'm fine with that tbh. The storyline is sweet to go through, but there's no rush to complete everything at once. This is my 2nd playthrough as I first played this a few years ago on my Switch and absolutely loved it. It's completely playable on Steamdeck! I finished the main story on Winter 28 (about 43 hours play time) but I'm sure you can do it much faster! You can keep playing after the main story and there is some post game content (like marriage, new animals, fast travel unlocked, DLC clothing storyline with Melanie). Yes I cried at the end. Twice.
PROS:
- The characters are lovable and memorable and I love watching each of their stories progress.
- Absolutely obsessed with crop mutations and essentially "catching them all." If you like making lists with spreadsheets and picture guides and check lists for games you love, this game scratches that itch. There's 4 different terrains you can plant on; main farm is grassy, mixed soil or dry soil in the mountains, and swampy soil on the beach. You can get the seeds for the mutations unlocked once you sell enough of the mutated crop.
- Unlike Stardew and most farming sims, farming is actually not the big money maker. That artisan perk for starfruit wine in Stardew? Yeah this game doesn't have that. Instead, you mine for gems and sell those for big money.
- You can do a lot of farming in Winter!
- Mining is only mining (and then digging around for the ladder). There's no combat to worry about.
- Time freezes when inside a building! So no need to pause if you're inside and looking up something on the Wiki. Ever fallen asleep playing Stardew and the days just keep going? Not an issue here lol your character will still be there in their house the next day and time won't move forward. Even if you slept 16 hours, it's all good!
- Grazing! If you don't feel like manually filling the feed bowls for the coop and barn every day, you can let your animals out (only one at a time tho so either coop or barn) BUT the catch is you have to have grass growing. It's a crop seed you can buy and they're real cheap. If it goes low health, harvest and use as feed later.
- There is no wait time for processing ores. Gus does this automatically (for a fee of course) and you get the processed ores immediately. So yes, you do have to pay him for this, but you also receive the goods right away as opposed to other games, you have to wait for your machines to process ores. BUT this is entirely based on Gus' schedule so if he's out, you're not processing anything that day.
- The 4 DLC available are absolutely worth the extra 10 bucks. One of them gives you 2 additional upgrades for 2 of your tools for ultra easy mode for farming! Also one of them unlocks the harvest goddess as a marriage candidate (but be aware, no same sex marriage option).
- If you miss a season specific crop for a quest, it's all good. You can grow out of season crops (you do this a lot for mutations anyway) so long as you fertilize it every day and not a severe storm, they should be good. BE AWARE that you will have no fog or storms destroying your crops until after you complete the main story.
- The mini quests (letters in the mail) actually serve a purpose! It's not just a way to get some gold or earn a lot of friendship points, but also how you can unlock more stuff like recipes for food and fertilizers.
- There is fast travel via the map, but this is unlocked after the main story!
- The ending of the main story is really sweet. I love it when everyone comes together.
- All of the harvest sprites are an absolute delight. They each have their own personality and I love them!
- The harvest goddess is adorable and basically flirts with absolutely everyone. It's a shame you can't actually marry her if you picked being a girl smh.
CONS:
- It does not matter if you have the ingredients in your fridge, you can't cook anything unless it's directly in your inventory (same as in ACNH). Compared to Stardew where you can cook anything so long as the ingredients are in one of your fridges. It's just tedious having to grab things out constantly coz there's no option to increase personal storage capacity. This also applies to your mill where you store your extra flour. You cannot use the flour in your mill to create stuff, it HAS to be in your inventory. But you're using that same mill holding all your stuff to make more stuff, how does that make sense???
- There is no same sex marriage in the game and clothes are gender locked.
- The first half of your first Spring is a bit of a slog ngl. It is difficult to save up money to repair stuff (at first) but as soon as you get the mines unlocked, then you can sell the gems and make money real fast. I had 80k easy in the middle of Spring 1. And obviously the further you progress, the more valuable gems you find.
- There is no radio/TV to tell you the weather for tomorrow. You have to get that info from a character you unlock (however he is not always at home to tell you the forecast).
- No skill leveling. You can only improve the tools you use.
- There is no way to increase stamina. 5 hearts is all you get. But upgrading tools makes you use less stamina.
- No sprinklers so invest in watering can upgrades! Highly recommend the DLC watering can upgrade of 30 tiles!
- Very little farm/player customization.
- As previously stated, you cannot increase personal storage capacity. So if you find extra stuff, you just don't get it and it disappears. This is remedied by getting the first house upgrade because then it sends items you can't fit in your inventory to your house storage automatically, but prior to that first house upgrade you're basically SOL.
- Fishing sucks lmao. You cast your line, a few fish may show up, and then you have to wait as they move around and rotate in a straight line, and then you can hit the action button when your bobber shows it as hooked. Sometimes the fish take forever to travel to the bobber.
- Animals do not return to their coop/barn on their own when it becomes dark. They'll fall asleep outside and be mad at you the next day if you forget to call them back in (as opposed to it being automatic in Stardew).
- Nonstop weed/tree/rock respawnings on the farm, just like PoOT.
- Not necessarily a con, but there is no cheating in the mines lol. You can save anywhere at any time except for when you're in the mines. Also if you try to farm one floor by repeatedly going in and out, time progresses a lot!
- Everything except walking and talking to people costs stamina. Yes even petting your chickens.
- Special fertilizers are kinda expensive either from buying them or making them yourself.
- Another minor annoyance, but the inside of houses are pretty sparse. Beds are grouped together and there's no other rooms or anything. Tiny detail and doesn't impact gameplay, but again looking at Stardew where the houses are pretty detailed, you'd think a little more effort would be put in.
- Not enough coop animals! There's only chicken and brown chicken. But there's plenty of barn animals including a cotton candy sheep! And tbf, the brown chicken lays candy eggs!
- Your animals can die in this game BUT it's very easy to avoid them getting sick. Feed them, pet them, clean up the poop, and don't leave them out overnight! You can buy medicine if they get sick, but easy to avoid tbh.
- Some crops are quite finicky even when planted in the correct season. Blue/white roses are low health when you first plant them. Have fertilizer on standby for day 1 planting them. Strawberries are moody af and randomly will lose health so also have fertilizer or berry blend on standby for multiple days.
- The whole Soleil thing is just weird. You find this gem fairy as a baby and they just live in your house. And somehow they just have an adult form you can marry? Weird.

Mostly play if on a Switch now, but it's really fun. If you leave and forget what you were doing, it's really easy to get back into the game. It even helps with character gifts by keeping track of likes and disliked gifts after you give them to the character. It's really easy to "finish" the game and get to post game events. It's possible to "finish" by Fall :-P
Getting characters friendship up is super easy! Just do requests! It's more kid friendly than the Story of Season franchise but mainly because of the forgiving nature they have. This is in the form of You won't have to wait a year to plant crops cause your in the wrong season. I really love the Story of Season franchise, but Natsume has some enjoyable mechanics that they utilize.
GG
Seems like a decent game tbh but how are you gonna release your game way later on pc than on consoles name your game "Special edition" and then still sell the DLC's on the side.... HUH?!?!
This game was awesome for the Nintendo Switch, but its even better on Steam.
A great addition to the Harvest Moon series
Muito divertido !!!
Great game to play when you want something light and to simply take a break from drama heavy story lines or lore. Refreshing game for farming and crafting. :)
i love harvest moon since long time ago
NOT worth your money!
The game as a whole just feels empty.
The world is hollow and lifeless, gameplay is extremely clunky and the story is just...empty.
Things often aren't thought through which leads to an overall unbalanced game.
For example: to progress the story you need wool at some point. But not any wool. A very SPECIFIC quality of wool. But what quality you get is random. It took me three seasons...with literally nothing else to do. The Game is completely empty while you wait for story progression. And oooooh boy will you do a lot of waiting!
For a farming sim farming in this game is fascinatingly unnecessary. You can't make money with it. You only need 2-3 very specific things for quests. You don't benefit from upgrading tools or stables since you mostly just use them to kill time while you wait around for random stuff to happen that you need to progress the game.
On top of that the characters personalities are SO limited they might as well not have any at all.
You have the girl who always says ZOINKS for no reason.
You have the girl who always pouts for no reason.
You have harvest sprites who always pout for no reason.
And as a treat: You have a harvest sprite that talks in a baby voice.
That's it. That's all they do. No development, no things to discover. Nothing.
Just safe your money and buy Stardew Valley instead.
Or bang your head against a brick wall. Would still be more enjoyable.
Overall, while it appealed to longtime fans of the series for its familiar gameplay, it didn't quite meet the expectations of everyone, especially those seeking more innovation. If you’re a fan of farming sims, it might still be worth trying! Would you like to know more about any specific aspects?
Not as prolificaly calming as the originals but it has a glorious flowing calm about the dynamic gameplay that captures the escence of the franchise.
I love the harvest moon games and had this one on ds long ago so I purchased it for pc because it claims it has full xbox controller support. Love it!
It claims you can use controllers but when setting configuration within the game or outside it does not acknowledge it. You have half controller half keyboard requirement which makes the game practically impossible to play because who has time to stop every 30 seconds to do an action on the keyboard because it will not do the action any other way? The game time moves relatively quick and that makes it impossible to really get anything done when half of the game actions require keyboard and half a controller. I am not interested in keyboard gaming so if you are a controller based gamer this game is not for you.
Update 12/30/2026
I recently got a new controller and this game in a bundle I purchased so I thought about trying it again with the bluetooth controller (8bitdo ultimate with charging dock) and I can now play. However, the game is... well, it's playable but it's definitely not my favorite. The graphics are not that great, toolo upgrades are locked behind seasonal plants (why do I need flowers for tool upgrades?) upgrading the house is your first chance at any actual optional storage outside of your bag. I wouldn't recommend this at full price but I would say it is worth $8 imo
farm game
Empty shell of a Harvest Moon game.
Cute, lovely characters and self sufficient farming 10/10
Fishing also accurate (gotta wait for that exclamation point y'all)
Happy farming!

Great game to lose a few hours in
I love when natsume said its Natsume Inc. time and put their most beloved genre starter brand on a path with no return till they see the non-existing light of my dead hopes special edition,
hm i am in love
Great game, though for a perfectionist you are going to sink countless hours in.
KEINE KAUFEMPFEHLUNG!
Really enjoy this game takes me back to the old harvest moon on gamecube.
This game has some really positive points and most of the negative ones could be forgiven. However, the inventory management in this game was bad from the start and becomes a painful chore about midway through the game. I found more than half of my time playing was doing various forms of inventory management which wouldn't have been the case if just the simplest QOL changes had been made. Normally, I am a completionist for this type of game, but I am going to throw in the towel on this one.
it is a very good experience for everyone and i highly recommend this game.
Light of Hope is aggressively fine. If you absolutely must have a Harvest Moon game, One World is better in pretty much every way.
You'd still be better served by one of the Story of Seasons games though.
not bad actually, better than one world garbage, at first it felt like a trash game ngl
harvesting was indeed boring but mining was at least entertaining.
also better written characters than the new retarded characters of SoS: FoMT, a better dialogue.
Not a terrible first attempt, but I still got bored before I could beat it.
Essentially Natsume needed to get a new team for this series, and this was the first game by that team. It's okay! Rebuilding an island is fun. I really enjoy there being a main story to follow, unlike a lot of farming sims!
Dislikes:
- Controls. Feels like a mobile game that was never on mobile.
- Some events in the game randomly end your day.
- This writing is weak!
- The merchant is in different spots everyday ugh
- Unlocks are slow
- Unlock requirements can be nonsensical (flowers that only grow during certain seasons for tool upgrades? Are you kidding me?)
- Certain abilities get unlocked by arbitrary events. (Repair an expensive house, get a fishing rod. what.)
- Mining takes forever.
- Annoying as heck low stamina sound
It's okay tho, Doc makes everything better.
Edmond is such a babe.
its fun
nah.
so bad! I had this on switch when it first came out i thought the story was okay, but the characters kinda cute. figured i might as well get it on PC. its so clunky! i don't remember them looking like bad Mii's! The graphics look so bad it made my head hurt immediately, making it unplayable for me.
lixo
Honestly as a huge harvest moon fan im dissapointed,i couldnt play more than an hour of the game....Its poorly designed and the story is wack, im sorry i usually never ssay bad reviews but its not worth even playing unless its free i would say try it and even then......
Love playing this game and my grandchildren do too!
...
simple and cute
"Harvest Moon: Light of Hope Special Edition" is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. The game is a rehash of an older console game which may go some way to explaining (but not excusing) the huge list of technical defects.
If you take this mobile app as a serious PC game (which it's not), it's a basic StarDew Valley like farming/adventure/business sim game where you run around a cartoony/anime styled Final Fantasy esque farm and plant and sell cabbages etc through monotonous repetition of basic tasks. Is this fun? Of course not. There's also a crappy, badly written family friendly story that's mostly just a wrapper to get you into the monotonous seed planting/garden watering. At least the graphics look slightly better than Stardew Valley? Which is a lot like saying one midget is slightly taller than another.
From a technical perspective, as a mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
The artwork here is terrible, it's somewhere between old retro pixel "art" and early 32 bit console graphics, used as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It seems the developer really didn't know what they were doing, couldn't manage to do contemporary graphics, but didn't want to go retro, so they just sort of lifted the old console graphics and dumped them into the mobile app. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget to arrange someone who can do graphics properly, or lack of talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result of these decisions.
Bewilderingly, the mobile app doesn't include proper audio controls, so you can't turn off the annoying background music, you'll need to alt+tab out and stop the music using the Windows sound mixer. This is obviously not okay and it's unclear why the developers chose not to include this basic feature.
There's no options to change the resolution for the mobile app or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this mobile app is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this mobile app will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality mobile phone graphics. Some of this is due to the mobile app heritage of the game and some of it just seems to be because the developer couldn't be bothered updating the graphics they took from console and dumped into the app stores. Case in point, some of the intersituals are 4:3 pillarboxed aspect ratio... that's just sloppy, but that laziness demonstrates clearly the disdain the developer here holds towards PC gamers.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the mobile app unplayable for differently-abled gamers. PC gamers will be insulted by the presence of console peasant children's toy controller prompts, despite this being on PC. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're developing for.
Because this is a mobile app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the mobile app was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The mobile app is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone.
These technical defects push this mobile app below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
Once more we see greedy mobile devs trying to scam PC gamers. On Steam, this mobile app garbage carries the eye watering price of $20 USD, on app stores, it's still overpriced at $15 USD (ouch). Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay FIVE BUCKS MORE for a cheap mobile app just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. The developers here genuinely are trying to mislead gamers into thinking this has parity with cheaper AAA games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Monster Hunter Rise, Euro Truck Sim 2, Horizon Zero Dawn... the list goes on. And in what level of hell do these mobile app developers think mobile apps on PC are worth $20???!?!
This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers. Because this is a mobile app, is priced to insult and gouge PC gamers, and because of the other defects, it's impossible to recommend. Just who do they think we are?
It is so much fun to play and destress to.
Honestly, I had fun playing it. It's more simple than other farming sims, but the simplicity can be fun if you're in the mood for that type of gameplay.
The main thing that kept me playing are the characters: they're charming in a silly kind of way to me. (Your mileage may wary though.)
Ps. While I enjoyed the game, I do suggest buying it on sale, rather than at full price.
hours of fun
yAY
I've played a lot of Harvest Moon games over the years, and to be honest this was a disappointment. The graphics are mid, the story is bland and the need to mutate your crops is incredibly tedious. Will I continue to play it, yes. Do i enjoy it, not really but I want my achievements.
TRASH. HOT SMELLY TRASH.

This is Harvest Moon for Mom’s
When I first bought this for my lady and I, I had a light of hope that it would be good…
…and I was pleasantly surprised.
Now sure, at first impression it looks like a mobile game without the pay to win features and it kind of makes Farmville look amazing in comparison, yet I still find it a good game, and it only gets better once you beat the main storyline.
It isnt what the old games were, but I've sunk 20+ hours into it according to my profile and I like it more and more as I progress. I feel engaged in my day-to-day farming life (and it takes up my day!) like I haven’t since A New Beginning. The Story of Seasons games haven’t been doing it for me and I feel the series has gotten a little too far away from the farming aspect I fell in love with all the way back on the SNES.
Graphically, the juxtaposition between character models and backgrounds is pretty bad. The models themselves are fine and fairly expressive during skits and I find the whole thing looks a lot better zoomed all the way out.
There are crop variations and mutations to suss out for even MORE profits which really provides a lot of fiddling around and experimentation for those like me who enjoy that sort of thing. There are guides for those who don’t.
I actually had a hard time choosing a marriage candidate this time around(!) which I haven’t had a hard time choosing in years. Usually I choose to live my life out in voluntary celibacy because all of the choices are awful. I was essentially a hermit in A New Beginning because I hated the marriage candidates so much.
I could continue but in short, check it out for yourself. There are a lot of people frolicking through the reviews with a vendetta against Natsume for trying to do the series honor. Their budget is a lot smaller than Marvelous’s and I think they made a solid attempt with Light of Hope and got pretty darn close.
So far my only gripe is that there could have been more development between villagers. I’m almost through my first summer and they are... fairly repetitive.
Also, you can’t marry Sam because, like, he’s got a wife but, like, I haven’t seen her nor do I think he’s even called her by her name so I don’t see why I can’t be his second family. I’m championing for a DLC. Homewrecking on the Homestead. I’d give them ten bucks easy for that sort of story telling.
8/10
A relaxing game for those people who just want to chill.
I've been playing Harvest Moon for 20+ years, and out of all the iterations, this one is one of my favorites. I love playing games that help me escape, and in a sense, in control of my life. Harvest Moon has always helped me with that, the only game that beats it in that department is The Sims.
love it
Once you get the hang of it its pretty consuming. I love this game! I played harvest moon as a kid! this is not exactly the same but its pretty fun! I love the ease of control, the story line is pretty interesting, just takes a little learning or some wiki-fandom to figure some hard parts out that's if you want a smooth reasonably quick game, if not have fun exploring all the options yourself and stumbling across the answers as I am currently doing *which if you ask me is more fun than the quick play. though I will say its not as customizable as I would have liked, like in the original or stardew, (if you want a more customizable version of harvest moon try star dew valley! same awesome fun, game graphics are fantastic as well it is just more in depth and more choices in game.)
I really do enjoy this game, just wish it was multiplayer/cross platform multiplayer and had more ability to customize for your individual game play... but its a fantastic game none the less
I'm a fan of Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons series so I definitely would be sinking tons of hours into this.
What I love:
1. This game has charm. This is farming game as I know it. Chill, more focus on farming (mutations, crops rotation, animal husbandry etc).
2. Decent gameplay, themes and control. I like the fact that we no longer need to select tools. Just stand in front of things (tree, soil, rocks etc) and press action button, and the right tool will be selected.
3. Zero combat. I prefer my chill, farming games with zero combat because I have no chill when it comes to combat. I would prioritize purchasing farming games with zero combat. "Gentle", "kind", "idyllic" are the keywords I focus on when it comes to farming games.
Improvement needed (IMHO):
1. Graphics. I prefer games with beautiful, 3D looking graphics. I dislike simplistic, 2D looking or pixel art. Modern graphics card can do so much more. This game's graphics has a lot of room to improve.
2. More character customization in the beginning and throughout gameplay.
This game is a mess from what Harvest Moon use to be when Marvelous use to make them. It feels so lazy, soulless, and rather ugly to say the least. Ugly in the round models that don't fit in with the 2d background while they are 3d and stiff. Pixel art with 3d is kinda weird mash together and it doesn't work.. Whats more is they have made maybe 3 new characters in the last four games maybe. They are reused characters there is nothing new about this.
The whole game is meant to be farming and relationship building yet half of everyone isn't even available at times not even in their house, they are just gone. No one even walks to an area but vanishes into place just filling any form of normality to the game. All of the magic users are horrible to even talk to in their homes as all they do is give either pointless information or tell you what to do next so you get no form of seeing who they are outside of the events. Even if you get events they have shallow and uninteresting personalities. And if you can't romance the villager they don't matter. They have less personality than a rock. On top of that when you do have events and you talk who knows what you are saying. Your character talk and you don't get to know what they are saying, you have to guess.
And then the DLCs, pay money to get to unlock more tools, people to romance, or events. Wowie. Swoon the king of the underworld for 2 dollars and regret life as he is the most unattractive model every made in any harvest moon game. And if he isn't for you marry this gem spirit you watched grow from a literal baby. You watch it learn to talk and express itself while you thirst for it? Its sickening to just thing of, its shown as a baby. Its shown as young and unknowing. And you can marry it because it has an adult form so its okay!
The story can't even make up for the game. Its short, mostly waiting, no reward or meaning, and just sucks. It wasn't fun..
Muito fofo
What's in a name?
To the subconscious mind, I see Harvest Moon and still get excited to this day. I can't believe Natsume gets to drag the name of Harvest Moon through the mud like this.
This is Harvest Moon stripped of all of its charm, character and just about anything else that made the games up to A New Beginning good.
Do yourself a favor and buy any of the other farming sims coming out that are better than this.
Peaceful Days
Orange Season
Story Of Seasons (the real Harvest Moon)
Coral Island
Stardew Valley
I like the Harvest Moon series, the Animal Crossing series, Story of Seasons and the games alike.
But i find them to be a bit repetitive and "boring" at some point, this is why i prefer Rune Factory, Stardew Valley, Fantasy Life, My Time At Portia, Graveyard Keeper, etc...
It has dungeons and some action which is a great addition to such games in my opinion.
This Harvest Moon game isn't as good as the other games of the series.
But my main problem is its bugs and some problems the game has.
First launch, game is bugged, i can't refill the watering can, i can't remove plants, game is bugged, had to restart the game, that's a pretty good start (sarcastic huh).
Second, game is slow paced but this is much more annoying than the other games of the series.
"Objective says get to point A, then get to point B, now go back to point A, go back to point B, now go to point C, go back to B, go to A, now go back to B", you'll be going back and forth lot of times at least at the beginning and it's getting annoying.
Also, the loading sequences are truly worthless, this game shouldn't even have loading screens. There are bigger games which uses even more ressources and all and do not have loading sequences or are even shorter than the ones in this game... Useless.
Game may be good, that i don't know, but it sure is buggy and slow paced, i wouldn't recommend it, maybe for about 1$ but that's it, visuals aren't that interesting to me and it looks ugly on higher resolutions.
I have really enjoyed it!
got it onsale for 10$ thats all this is worth so for 10$ its a decent game
It's basically just a mobile phone game. The story is lacking, the actual gameplay should be a clicker on an app.. I really dont recommend this, and I have been playing the Harvest Moon / Story of Seasons games since Harvest Moon on the N64. This entire company has gone downhill, removing way too much content and hidden secrets and enjoyment since their original games
This game is terrible as hell... Control schemes (like mobile game), events, crop and livestock quality that don't match health, viillagers request system and much more. This is not Harvest Moon.
Not one of the better games in the series, but it has its moments. this game is a beginner-friendly farm sim with simple mechanics, a cute storyline, and new characters. I think fans of HM/SoS should save their money -- the weird character renders, limited landscape design, and bugs make it less fun than a replay of FOMT or another game from the series. that being said, the UI does have some good points, such as auto-selecting appropriate tools based on which task you're doing -- no more accidentally cutting crops when you thought you'd equipped your watering can.
Lazy.
Graphics are a little rough and storyline can get confusing at times, but overall a super enjoyable and nostalgic game. I love playing this to unwind at night and the various animals are so cute. Would recommend
I have been playing the Harvest Moon and subsequent spin-off series' since 2002. LoH represents a stark and unfortunate decline in quality within Harvest Moon games, and solidifies the Story of Seasons series as the definitive Harvest Moon successor. After just under 45 hours with the game, I found the small points of enjoyment were purely based on the basic formula that all games within the farm & befriend genre have, rather than any innovation from this entree in particular. The characters are widely uninteresting and bland, the 'storyline' isn't engaging in the slightest, and the artistic direction seems far more like an imitation than anything original. With the original developers gone, it's no surprise that the quality is so low.
I rate this game a Turnip/Play Another Game.
Stardew Valley had mod support. Spend your money on that.
Great game :)
I love this game!
I love it and I play it then I was a kid and I still love it.
I absolutely love this game! At first, I questioned a few things, but the more I played the game, the more I enjoyed this game. I'm a big fan of all of the Harvest Moon games, especially the first one - the original, and I must say, this isn't a bad game. It was worth twenty bucks for me, at least. Anyways, if you're a fan of Harvest Moon, I'd say, give it a go!
The same ol' fun of playing Harvest Moon. Plant it, pick it, get paid, do side quests-yup. Smooth PC version, I haven't noticed any blaring glitches.
This games feels more like a phone game than a console or PC one. The graphics are simple, the story is too short, the characters are super flat, the game mechanics are lackluster (expect for mutations, which I found cool, but extremely frustrating), and it's plagued by the most absurd amount of loading screens I have ever seen in a modern game. I enjoyed playing it while I was trying to 100%, although in the end I gave up, realizing that it wasn't worth the hours of grind that it would have taken me.
If you are a farming-sim fan, try it. But for the love of all that is holy, do not play full price. I repeat. DO NOT pay full price. It just isn't worth it.
Great game. The villagers irritate me some by never being home when i need to go to them for something but otherwise i love the game.
fun and relaxing game but ony if you are into games like this or if you have played the various harvest moon games :)
Harvest Moon always was an interesting game because the mechanics are interesting and the graphics were good. This game very much still nails it in those marks but brings some innovations. Especially the RPG linear story format which is new to me. I heard some YouTuber's criticism and it's all based on how the game looks bland and done lazily. But I have to add that the simple sprites are clean and don't demand some aggressive RAM from the computer, in other words, it works fine on low-end computers. Plus the music is very soothing to the ear, differrent from the older versions of Harvest Moon.
