визуально и музыкально (хоть и одна композиция) годно. Однако в негатив перевешивают раздражающие минусы. Первая и основная - это камера, она сама по себе, вне привязки к самолётику, из-за чего основной урон и повреждения получаешь неправильно рассчитав место пролёта, предполагая что в том месте тебя лазеры не заденут, а они задевают. Второй минус в заскриптованности всей игры, которая сама подразумевает, что игрок будет в неё переигрывать, но сыграв раз ты больше ничего нового уже не увидишь, и тебе приходиться опять в который раз проходить тоже самое (с самого начала). Само собой никакого интереса в переигрывании нет, играть очень быстро надоест. Третий минус - достижения, они задротские и заставляют многократно переигрывать раз за разом с начала (почему в игре не сделали загрузку с чекпоинтов, что бы игрок не начинал новый полёт с начала). Хорошую идею тупо загубили.

Есть ряд геймплейных сложностей, но в целом, игра очень достойная и классная.
Плюсы: приятная графика, известная и хорошо реализованная стилистика, понятные механики, прекрасное обучение.
Минусы: поведение камеры, ТРЯСКА камеры, непонятные как проходить без урона мобы, промахи при подборе бустов, появление бесполезных бустов (у меня мало здоровья, полный лазер, выпадает ЛАЗЕР)

The Good:
It's a nice looking game with a pumping soundtrack.
The Bad:
A camera that makes the one in the 3d sonic games look good. It can be nigh on impossible to work out if you're actually going to collect that power up, or dodge that obstacle. It also has a very loose auto aim (there is no mouse support, though with the camera issues it would be nigh on impossible to accurately aim anyway) which tends to prioritise reflective enemies over enemies you can actually damage, and the game likes to mix both on screen at once.

Base game is cool and have nice graphics / design / atmosphere, but no checkpoint in the game (if you die, you have to restart from the begginning), no new things to unlock into the game and achivements are broken for me (can't unlock achievement).

So not recommended on this state ...

I absolutely love the game on the Switch with gyro control. Will GRIDD use the Steam Deck gyro control? Also when docked, I would like to use the gyro control on the 8bit.do Bluetooth & 2.4 GHz Ultimate Controller (long name; I didn't do it).

This game would really show off the benefits of the Steam Deck.

An option for ultrawide monitors and 4k would be swell too.

can someone make a mouse mod for this game? I think moving with a mouse would make this majorly better for me to play. its why i bought it on PC after trying it on Switch. I thought you could move with the mouse :(

It's also hard to tell where the character is due to the camera, but the camera makes it cooler.
AWESOME music, AWESOME retro style. i'm fully immersed.

I wish it had a level picker. I managed to get the third boss fight (the one after big face guy uses Centipede dragon's gun).

I enjoyed the Centipede Dragon fight! 10/10 would befriend Centidragon.

+ Антураж - топ. Хотя я уже устал от музыкального ретровейва в играх... Но графон и движ очень порадовали! Сочно!
+ Обманчиво простой геймплей, в котором уже перестаёшь понимать, на спинно-мозговом ты уровне действуешь или рассудительно.
+ Геймплей подаётся в большей степени грамотно: вот тебе механика, сначала лёгкий вариант, потом усложняем или даже комбинируем! Отлично продумано.

- Камера - как источник экшена происходящего, так и враг игрока. Далеко не всегда получается тупо "прочитать", заденет тебя снаряд или лазер на твоём текущем месте, или надо двигаться. А ближе к концу это будет критично.
- Эта игра - аркада со строго заскриптованным сценарием стандартного режима. Скучно не будет, но это развлечение на 1 раз
- Бесконечный режим похвалить не хочу из-за скучных гриндовых ачивок
- Самый страшный минус - последний босс. Он не развивается между фазами, а тупо все 3 фазы [i]отбирает твоё здоровье[/i] путём повышенной цены ошибки и однообразно-утомляющих паттернов.
Я не смог пройти игру вот почти в конце, когда на финише второй фазы отчётливо понял, что на третьей мне тупо не дадут шансов. Казалось бы, каждую фазу дают бонус на выбор - но ни один из них не поможет сильно склонить чашу весов в твою сторону.
На этом боссе я потратил все 3 жизни и наивно взял восстановление здоровья на последний рывок. И сдох.
Желания всю эту духоту испытывать повторно нет никакого.

Не рекомендую. Сначала подаёт [b]офигенские[/b] надежды - и в самом конце так портит абсолютно всё впечатление...

In this video I take a look at GRIDD: Retroenhanced a cyberpunk on-rails arcade shooter.
I found this one to be quite well made and worth taking a look at. Initially I was getting thrown about a bit but it's easier the more you play it as you learn it's defensive strategies so each play through you'll do better. I begin my video at my second attempt as my first was a complete mess ;( .
Your attempting to hack a system with your flying vessel and it's defenses are trying to stop you. It has a great sound track and really cool game play.

Un jeu avec un concept intéressant, du shoot em up arcade avec une bande son, bla bla c'est indiqué dans la description.
Mais en fait on a l'impression d'être dans Tron sur un circuit défilant devant nos yeux, comme un peu les jeux de voitures arcade des années 90. C'est un bon petit jeu, mais il faut de bons réflexes pour survivre et avancer dans l'histoire.

An awesome Modern take on a classic retro arcade style shooter hacker flying game like Tron.
The music and menu sounds are very loud thankfully can be turned down, the menu has a sweet retro styled look to it and seems to be all unlocked except endless mode of which i suppose you have to get to a certain stage in the arcade mode or something to unlock.
Controller and Mouse and Keyboard support which is awesome, i highly recommend playing with a controller.
Definitly worth a look.

Ein schöner, actionreicher Arcade Shooter mit Retro Thematik und ausgezeichneten Retro Synth Wave Soundtrack. Die Grafik schaut gut aus und läuft rasant über den Bildschirm. Man hat nur ein Leben und muss eine Art "System" hacken, indem man sich durch das Endloslevel schießt. Umso mehr Objekte man abschießt, desto mehr "Daten" (Punkte) sammelt man und steigt in der Highscore. Umso länger man spielt, desto schwieriger wird das Spiel.

Manchmal machen einfache Spiele doch viel mehr Spaß, als hoch komplexe Spiele.

Kann für das Spiel eine Empfehlung aussprechen.

The gameplay is fairly simple and straightforward from the beginning. You move around with joystick or arrow keys and shoot with A or space. I would recommend using a controller for Gridd instead of a keyboard. Avoid obstacles and shoot enemies, pick up power ups along the way and don't get hit.

The controls in this game feel good and hit boxes are accurate. The camera angles can get tricky sometimes and the aiming is sort of a lock on aim assist type style. Sometimes it can go where you don’t necessarily want it to. These two things can take a little getting used to.

This game is a true arcade game, if you die, start over. Arcade mode is fairly short, but once you're done with arcade, give endless a try. The challenge increases as you progress to each new sector, although you do have an option to continue from your last sector in this mode, which pulls away from that endless arcade feel. I’d prefer more extra lives or power ups to being able to continue from my last sector which makes death not so punishing.

This game's 80s neon tron aesthetics, synth-wave soundtrack, engaging game play, and tight controls is worth the play. If you’re looking for a fun arcade rail shooter or a fan of the 80s cyberpunk neon aesthetics, I would suggest picking this game up.

This game is absolutely Frakkin GORGEOUS. Its 80's, its Neon, its Punk, its Pop, its Synth, it has MAJOR head nods towards 1982's Tron, (They did impeccible work with the voice, akin to 1982 Tron's Master Control Program. EVEN THOUGH to my best knowledge they did not use the same voice actor).

Its Hard
Its Furious
Its Aggressive
AND IT HATES YOU.

But its fair. every thing you do, you do. Not the game. Sure it has some very choice camera angles that make things a tiny bit hard, BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE. i got twice the amount of points i did on the 2nd run, than i did on my first, showing that its fairly challenging, but also FUN to improve.

If you make a mistake, its YOUR fault, not the game. of course it course it could do with a tutorial, but there's nothing like dying 5 - 6 times in order to learn the ropes in the first 5,000kb (High Score Points).

As Of Writing... this game is currently 50% off, at US$5.99, and its original value is US$11.99. and i can safely say this game is worth even the 12 dollar asking point. SO GET IT WHILE ITS HALF OFF!

Where am I in relation to everything else? Where are my bullets going? Where is the gap in those lasers, where is the hoop to go through for the powerup? For, you see, I am moving around and the track is moving around and the camera is moving around. So I don't know. And this is tiresome and bad.

Control wise it reminds me alot of starfox and audiosurf, The random genned track is new each time which is fun and interesting. My only complaint is theres mabye 5-6 enemies i could consider bosses or any amount of challenge. The music while some great listening Is a bit limited and can draw on a bit, But is easily fixed by putting some lazerhawk or raydar on.

8/10 arcade classic with a challenging endless mode.

A short, difficult, but engrossing shooter. It's almost more of a puzzle than a shooter though - it's a series of challenges that you grow to understand over time. It's short, but it is a carefully-crafted experience that has a lot of brilliance in the level design.

Gridd's fun, and Gridd's beautiful, but it's not easy and will be frustratingly repetitive for anyone who isn't inclined to replay the same patterns over and over as they constantly die for whatever reason.

It starts very easy. You can hug the walls and get hit by nothing at all for a good minute or so. You don't have to shoot anything for a while. The lasers are somewhat simple patterns to dodge, and the yellow walls never seem to get in the way.

It gets harder to dodge things as you encounter more and more variety of obstacles. You also eventually have to shoot the obstacles. This gets harder over time as well. Shooting and dodging at the same time is damn near impossible, because you only shoot ahead of yourself, so every once in a while, you'll take damage even if you're doing everything right.

The music is cool, though forgettable, and the visuals look nice. You can tell from the screenshots that it looks cool at least.

The only major problem is repetition. If you die at any point, you have to start over, and for the most part, the level is always the same. The repetition makes this a difficult game to play for a long period of time. On top of that, the little bits of dialogue get obnoxious and are unskippable.

It's a good game, though! It's probably not worth $12, so wait for a sale, but it's worth trying at some point.

ゲームはシンプルで、上下左右のコントロールと弾を撃つボタンだけ。
レールのようなコースを進みながら、障害物を避けつつ敵を倒していく、よく見るもの。
移動はかなり早めで、中々気持ちの良い速度感。それでいてエイムはある程度オートで補完してくれるので、そこまで精密な射撃は必要ないが、速度が速いだけに障害物を避けるのは難しく、中々シビアなゲームである。
敵の攻撃もトリッキーな物が結構あるので一瞬戸惑うが、慣れてくると割と簡単に避けられるようになったりする。

やられると最初からやり直しで、敵やアイテムの出現場所やパターンはほぼ決まっているため死に覚えゲー的な要素が強い。
要所要所でボス戦が入るので、緩急があり展開的には退屈しないが、ステージ構成の概念は無く、ひたすらやられないように前に進んでいくタイプのオールドスクールなゲームなので、また最初からやり直しか・・というのが苦手な人には向かないかも。

しかし、ハッキングをイメージしたバーチャルな世界観、音楽、スピーディーな展開は中々中毒性があるので、この雰囲気にヤラれたのなら買い。幸いデモがあるので、試しにやってみることをオススメ。
特に音楽が素晴らしい。そしてシールドアイテムは大事。

ちなみに、途中で出てくるバックドアのチャレンジだが、これを成功させると、死んだ際に一度復活することが出来る。
６桁のコードが３つのセクションに分かれていて、赤く光った三角形を撃つと、大量にコードが流れてきて、全部拾うことが出来ればコードを解読出来、６桁のパスワードを全部解読できれば成功。取り損なうと、もう一度同じ三角形を撃たなければならなくなって時間のロスになる。
一度のミスはまだ許されるが、２度ミスすると時間的にかなり厳しくなるため結構シビア。

Amazing cross between Starfox and Devil Daggers. Gun for that highest score and don't stop. It's a nonstop arcade shoot em up that gets harder and harder as time goes on. Made it to 7606 KB so far , look forward to beating it. :-)

On another note, the game's soundtrack is really addicting. It's a high octane 80s synthwave that gets your pulse going and fits the sci-fi theme perfectly.

It's really hard to believe the game is only a 68 mb download.. if the game itself doesn't impress you, the developer's ability to compress data will..

PS. Thumbs up to the developers for that Staryu cameo. It even did the Psywave move.

Despite not having played for very long, this game seemed really gorgeous in its appearance and a real trip to play. From the menus to the last enemy, everything is nicely polished and feels good. Graphics is capable of capturing you fully but still manages to keep what is happening on the screen clear. Soundtrack is nuts. The game is not long, but it's well balanced, and definitely not easy. It's a little arcade gem, if you are in doubt about buying it or not, well don't doubt, just go for it.

This game eats your quarters as you try to master it.

It's Starfox but you're hacking the Gibson.

Exactly the sort of game you'd expect to find at an arcade in the future if you were a character in Ender's Game or Neuromancer.

Gridd doesn't hold your hand. You fail and then adapt from what you did wrong. You will be clumbsy at first. If you learn fast, you'll reach a little farther with each go. It's not for kids who aren't up to the challenge. Gridd forces you to develop your skill and doesn't skimp in the reward for your growth as you unlock the next mind-bending level of gameplay.

To properly enjoy Gridd you must absolutely pump the volume to a nice & loud setting with a halfway decent sound system. It doesn't hurt to sit as close as you can to your screen, either.
I personally play with my blacklight humming in the background as ambiance.
You will achieve maximum nostelgia slipstream dizziness via audio-visual overdrive.
Gridd has a great sense of cyber space and its aesthetic value is neon.

Good work.

This game is a must have for all the retrojunkies and arcade fans around. The soundtrack is superb, and everything feels neat and polished. The camera system has been wisely studied to add a lot to the action. Visuals are excellent: the choice of colours and effects is THE retro eyecandy you always looked for. The pace is fast but not insane (at least in the arcade mode), so the game is suitable for casual gamers also. Using a gamepad is definitely recommended. Endless mode is dope. Purchase it and love it <3

Gridd Retroenhanced est un shoot’em up 3D où on dirige un vaisseau chargé de s’introduire dans un système informatique pour pirater une IA et en prendre le contrôle.

Couleurs flashy, néons, ennemis avec peu de polygones, le tout accompagné par de l’excellente synthwave composée par Dream Fiend, l’enrobage du jeu m’a conquis et devrait plaire à tous ceux qui, comme moi, ont rêvé un jour à ce que serait l’an 2000.

Le jeu est extrêmement simple à prendre en main, le stick gauche sert à bouger, le bouton A à tirer et c’est tout.

La seule subtilité est de ramasser les débris lumineux d’ennemis pour faire monter son multiplicateur de points.

Les adversaires sont assez variés et j’ai vraiment pris plaisir à terminer l’aventure, qui, même si elle est un peu courte, peut être rejouée de nombreuses fois pour essayer de battre son score et grappiller des places sur le classement en ligne.

Le mode infini m’a un peu moins intéressé mais propose quant à lui un challenge vraiment corsé.

Fans d’arcade, n’hésitez pas à lui donner sa chance !

Wow, this game is absolutely gorgeous and the sounds exactly like it looks like it will sound.

Basically it's a linear progression of dodging and shooting with frequent bosses. Each time you get a little better and a little farther. You can snag power ups and health along the way, but taking too much damage downgrades your weapons. Simple game, excellent presentation and that's about all there is to it!

Gridd is a neon-cyberpunk game, where you control your craft and try to “hack the system,” while avoiding and destroying enemies. Behind simple concept there’s a good execution with well-detailed and thought out neon 80’s-like style. Think of Tron, a 1982 movie. The style of the game world vaguely reminds of a famous lightbike scene that the movie portrayed to us.

[h1]The Good[/h1]
• Simple, but action packed gameplay. You can move in 4 directions (up/down/left/right) and shoot. There are different obstacles and enemies that makes it interesting and engaging.
• Difficult, skill-based gameplay with two modes: the arcade mode offers one same gameplay sequence again and again so you have a chance to study / adapt to it. Endless mode offers randomly-generated levels, so you’ll have to rapidly react to what’s happening on the screen since you can’t actually prepare for it.
• Neon-Cyberpunk Style: glowing neon futuristic levels, with amazing particle effects, stylized enemy models and well-thought out obstacles. This gives a great vibe of “system hacking” like you would imagine it in 1980’s movies.
• Music is repetitive, but not annoying: the music loop fits the game fine.

[h1]The Bad[/h1]
• There’s not much in the game content-wise. Sure, different enemies and obstacles are there, but your ship remains the same and there are only 3 bonuses: health / shield / weapon upgrades. It gets repetitive after a while: Arcade mode throws the same level at you again and again. Endless mode adds variety, but somewhat diminishes the skills: since obstacles and enemies are random, you can’t learn the positioning and predict them in a timely manner.
• Dying sequence deserves an extra mention: after you die, you are shown the final screen with score (acceptable). Then, after you have to press the button to close the screen, you get thrown to the main screen of the game (press start to continue), where you have to navigate to the game mode you want and pick it (more button presses). For a skill-based game that requires lots of retry attempts – that quickly gets annoying. Simple restart/retry button would make it so much better.

[h1]Summary[/h1]
The game offers an engaging gameplay with exceptional style, but does get repetitive after a while since there’s not that much content present. I say grab it during 50% discount.

Mechanically: Imagine the most obstacle-course-like parts of Star Fox, with a dash of Space Harrier, topped with an infinite runner/infinite dodger/dodge-em-up/whatever the eternally mutating nomenclature is currently, and you'll be on the right track.

Stylistically: Pure 1980s neon tinged Tron meets Nightmares (the Bishop of Battle.) Grid lines, modern re-imaginings of vector graphics rendered in 3D and lit with bold colors. Essentially what you see in any of the screenshots is exactly how the game "feels" visually.

[h1]Full review[/h1]

This is one of the finest examples of simplicity in design leading to greater things than one might expect that I've played in a while. The game literally consists of only two inputs and nothing else: move, and shoot. It has the simplest imaginable visual guideposts, as well: If it's red, avoid contact with it; if it's yellow, shoot it; it's metallic don't shoot it because it will richochet, and like red, don't crash into it.

From that barebones premise however, emerges a shockingly enjoyable and addictive experience. This game is effectively a true arcade game, and one I wouldn't have been surprised to find in actual coin op cabinets back in the day.

You dodge obstacles (and boy do they become demanding later,) shoot targets to increase your multiplier, grab shield, health, and weapon powerups, and try to progress to the end of the game. There's a brief hacking challenge wherein you shoot a target to unlock a numerical key sequence, then try to collect numbers to find the correct input. If you get one right, let it switch to the next number and try again. Once all three have been input, you open a "backdoor" which is essentially an extra life in GRIDD.

Every time you get hit you lose shield, health, and/or weapon upgrades. Run out entirely, and it's game over. There is no save functionality, and running out of lives in the main Arcade mode does mean starting over again from scratch. But the game is challenging and enthralling enough that if you're a fan of on-rails shooters and dodge-em-ups and/or infinite runners like myself, you probably won't mind replaying. Especially if you dig the visual and sound design.

There's an endless mode that saves your progress (measured in kilobytes of data obtained, increased by defeating enemies) through a series of sectors. I'm not certain whether this mode is a random selection of premade areas, or truly procedurally generated. In either case, it always feels different, and the challenge continually increases as you progress through higher and higher sectors. In this mode, here's no downside to dying, other than making only marginal progress in your kb bar for the sector you're currently in. So you can play Endless at your liesure, making it the less stressful mode despite it also being the more challenging of the two.

[h1]Pros & Cons[/h1]

Pros:

FANTASTIC audiovisual design makes for a profoundly nostalgic look and feel that anyone who grew up in the 80s will recognize. Very atmospheric. Not sure how the A E S T H E T I C meme started, but this game embodies that vibe entirely.
Pure arcade action is brilliantly minimalistic in its mechanical design, but endlessly fun and addicting. (At least for me it is.)
Leaderboards and achievements, if you're into that.
Reminds me of the B-movie "Nightmares" from the 80s (the Bishop of Battle,) which to me - despite its poor reputation - was a staple of the gaming spirit of the decade I grew up in.
Endless mode is fun, gives a sense of progression, and is challenging. After completing Arcade, it's the only thing left to do, and gives you a sense of accomplishment as you make your way through progressively higher sectors.
Arcade mode is finely crafted and rewards practice.
Full controller support. (Using a wired 360 controller, personally.)
Runs great on low to mid tier hardware. (I'm running a Phenom II X4 965 BE, 8GB DDR3 1333, and a GTX 660 in Windows 7. Smooth as butter in 1080p.)

Cons:

Somewhat short (though there is still the endless mode which is... well... endless.)
Not much musical variety, and while feeling authentically retro and nostalgic, none of the tunes stuck in my head like (just the most recent example off the top of my head) STRAFE's did, or even something simpler like Bit-Blaster XL. Sometimes retro-centric synthwave style game soundtracks forego melody in the pursuit of pure atmosphere. It totally works, don't get me wrong... I just won't be bobbing my head to it. Perhaps for the best given the concentration required to play this at times, though.
No additional unlockables, modes, or features that I can see. So you have to really love the core experience on offer here. (Fortunately, I do!)
The camera doesn't follow your ship so much as the track, and since it's on rails, this means you can frequently be fooled by your perception and spatial awareness. A good tip is to keep your eye on your actual ship, not the camera angle, particularly when avoiding tough obstacles. There are moments when the camera focuses on an enemy instead of the track as well, which can make it difficult to tell how close you are to colliding with something. Pay special attention to your ship at all times. With practice, this will become second nature.

[h1]Recommendation[/h1]

If you're fiending for an on-rails shooter that feels and sounds like all things 80s, especially if you liked movies like Tron or Nightmares and grew up with them, and don't require a lot of unlockable content or replay value beyond the old fashioned arcade joy of "can I make it further this time than my last run?" then I can highly recommend this game.

If you're on the fence, want more for your money, or don't feel like endless mode would be something you'd keep coming back to... maybe wait for a sale. Put it on your watchlist for future reference.

If you don't like the audiovisual design shown in the store page trailer, aren't a fan of on-rails shooters or hefty precision dodging, or you expect a lot of content... you might be better served elsewhere.

First off.... play with your steam controller! Keyboard seems to be more difficult to work with in my opinion.

Conclusion: The game overall is pretty good. Soundtrack is great! The synthwave in this seems to match the flow with the game and it works great. If anyone is worried that the game isn't challenging, I can say the game is, it does start off kinda slow at first, then things get interesting. Game was well worth the money spent, I hope there is more for this game in the future.

Antab Studio has been able to demonstrate that is no need of large investiment or a huge team to make a great product, but a good idea and a lot of passion for this work can make a difference.

thats GRIDD in a nutshell.

randomly created levels, intense gameplay.

the system increases your firepower as you maintain a high combo without being hit, when you get hit a few times, the powerup decreases, as more hits come in, you lose your sheild. and then you are down to energy only.

you can recover sheild, and energy by going through rings, too.

You are hacking a system, and those elements come into play

the first thing you will see is trying to break in a "backdoor"
you shoot a target, coolect all the data numbers for it, and if succeeding, you get a backdoor ( an extra life)

very fast paced, might make your eyes bleed a little bit.. way too much fun ,

I like this kind of aesthetic quite a bit with the hacking and color pallet. Definitely feels pretty good to fly around and blow up enemies for score. You want to make sure to get that multiplier up! You'll want a controller and sometimes the screen can get a little cluttered. GRIDD is a simple + fun arcade game.

Plot/Overview: There isn't too much story here, this is a shoot'em up game set to a hacking backdrop. Avoid lasers, barriers, and enemies while racking up a high score.

Menus: The menus have a really nice retro asthetic, like you've just stepped back in time the mid 80's. It has your stand array of options, music and sound sliders, Y-axis inversion, video settings, and language settings.

Music/Sound: This is the strong point of this game, everything feels 80's. From the heavy synth soundtrack, to the little bleeps while navigating menus.

Gameplay: The controls are tight and responsive and the speed of which the game moves is quick. The difficulty slowly ramps up as you get further and further down the procedurally generated track.

Graphics: This is a visually stunning game, as long as it doesn't give you headaches with all the neon vibrant colors. Everything moves with fluidity.

TLDR:

Pros:
Great soundtrack
Controls are responsive and tight.

Neutral:
The Graphics: Either you love them or get a headache from the colors.

Cons:
Music does get repetitive.
The camera at times will mess you up.
