It's a cute, lovely, little game, but it's so simple and outdated that I can't recommend it to children. However, a deep gratitude to the developers for their positive contribution to our childhood!
"It's just a Pac-Man clone with fish." WRONG. This is the Dark Souls of edutainment. Freddi Fish isn't just collecting kelp seeds—she's confronting the absurdity of existence after Luther's greedy ass knocks over Grandma Grouper's treasure chest because he couldn't resist one more chocolate-covered worm doodle.

Use to play this when I was little on my parents Windows 97. Yeah I'm in my 20s, so?
One of the few arcade games I had as a kid. I remember playing it for hours and making tons of mazes. I would say of all the arcade games they offer here, this one is worth picking up.
Now I know why my kid self hated this game, it somehow feels slower to play then Water Worries(another Junior Arcade Spinoff Freddi Fish game) and more boring.
Basically the gameplay loop can be summarised as slower and easier Pac man but with some very light puzzle elements, that aren't hard to figure out, but slow down the game a lot.
The game does have power-ups but they're very spread out, and unless you find the worm(the one that gives you normal speed that should've been the norm) you gonna swim slowly from place to place, and even listening to YT video didn't help elevate the boredome I felt(which worked for Water Worries).
So unless you're a very huge pacman gameplay fan and don't mind it being both slower and easier, you can play this one, but as for everyone else, I recommend skipping this one.

Honestly, it is pretty funny how Luther undoes everything we accomplished in the first game, and then does not help at all for the rest of this game in cleaning up the mess that he caused. Ahh, classic Luther behavior...
Freddi Fish and Luther's Maze Madness is ATROCIOUS.
This might be the worst game Humongous has produced. It's ABSURDLY frustrating. You might look at it and go, oh well it's a kid's game right? It's probably not that bad, but oh let me tell you right now it's unbelievable.
Once again, like all these other minigame games Humongous made, you get 3 lives, if you run out you get booted back to the level select and your progress is reset. That sounds almost fair in some of the others, but in THIS one... in THIS game, because the levels eventually get so absurdly long, Freddi is so impossibly weak, and the enemies are so incredibly dangerous, THIS game very quickly after the first 20 levels or so grows from very difficult, into outright impossible.
I refuse to believe anyone actually has ever beaten this game before without using the 'junior' settings for infinite lives.
There's a variety of enemies in the game but once you get to a certain point, the game pretty much stops using the 'lower level' enemies that just meander aimlessly, slowly and randomly, and it starts almost exclusively using enemies that either, soft-target you when they aren't wandering randomly, i.e. chasing you if you're near enough or in their sights, or it uses enemies like the 'dogfish' that does, absolutely NOTHING but CHASE you, WHEREVER you ARE ON THE MAP, REGARDLESS of where you are in relation to it, or line of sight, or whatever, UNTIL IT HAS KILLED YOU!
And this is a game, if you don't know, if you haven't really played it or looked at the screenshots or whatever, where, THE ENTIRE GAME IS MADE UP OF ONE-WAY SINGLE TILE WIDTH CORRIDORS WHERE YOU CAN VERY EASILY BECOME COMPLETELY TRAPPED. So you die in this game, ALL the time, and sometimes it is completely impossible to avoid through no fault of your own, simply because the enemies decided to herd you around the level in a specific way.
Not only that, but it gets more absurd: the levels aren't just 'one' screen in this game. Oh no. No, they can be 'many' screens. The last level for instance isn't even the longest one, and it's about 4 or 5 screens. I was keeping track of one level I wanted to talk about, 24, but then it started to be more like I had 2 levels I wanted to specifically mention, then 3, then it was like the entire back HALF of the game is just an unending nightmare of completely unfair enemy placement, incredibly long levels, and levels made up of tedious gates within gates that you open to get keys to open other gates so you can open more gates.
The randomness in the enemy movements is one of the two things that completely destroys this game. All they needed to do was implement some rules for these enemies, and then have those be the challenge. For instance, imagine if sharks always turned left. Instead they just seem to do whatever they want, except if Freddi is within 3x3 tiles around them in which case they beeline her.
By the way, speaking of enemies, they are all completely unburdened by any of the stage hazards that affect Freddi. Of course, if you hit them with one of the boulders or rocks found in later stages, they do get flattened - temporarily. Yes, unbelievably, even if you hit an enemy with a hazard, THEY DON'T DIE. EVEN THOUGH ENEMIES ARE NEVER REQUIRED TO SOLVE ANY PUZZLES! You'd think they might have the tiniest bit of mercy, and just let you take enemies off the screen, but OH NO. THIS GAME is BEYOND HARDCORE for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON. I literally don't understand it at all.
The other thing that kills it, is the UNBELIEVABLY bad controls. I mean, you look at this game and you think, well it's probably not THAT bad, right? But it is. It's the worst. Freddi never ever stops moving basically except in very specific situations. There are even hazards in stages, that FORCE Freddi to move in specific directions, and these are everywhere, sometimes it just knocks you back, sometimes it forces you to move horizontally or vertically for a set amount of tiles, but either way, these forced moves combined with the fact you ALWAYS have to be moving and the completely incompetent AI of Freddi when you click in a direction, makes this game THE worst to control. It's insufferably infuriating.
When you click somewhere for Freddi to go, unless it's basically a completely open adjacent tile, you get NOTHING. Sometimes if you just didn't click nicely enough directly in the space you want to go, Freddi will completely turn around and just go the opposite way you want her to. It feels like playing an RTS where you control one soldier with extremely bad AI and incredibly unresponsive response times, because Freddi also does that thing where she kinda has to reach the next tile over before you can call her back, just like some other tile-based games from the 90s. Usually it's not something that kills you, but in this game it WILL kill you all the time.
There's no invulnerability states in this game basically ever, when it comes to animations. If an enemy ever comes into contact with Freddi's sprite, you lose a life. This is a big problem when it comes to using the portals in this game, because the animation for using the portal actually takes about a second to complete, and Freddi can actually die during that even though enemies otherwise have no interaction with portals, they don't go through portals or anything.
This game also has portals that take you to other portals on the same screen. These are just a nightmare to deal with, because as above, if you just clicked through one, and you're trying to exit it? If you click ANYWHERE but DIRECTLY on an adjacent space, Freddi just goes back through the portal, which in some cases could just literally kill you.
Though Freddi Fish and Luther's Maze Madness does have powerups, they're also THE worst, most miserly powerups I think I have ever seen. Not only do they last a truly incredibly short amount of time, the game only VERY rarely doles out any of them, and when it does, they often are placed somewhere optional, or, they are sometimes even put somewhere they just won't be of any use.
You can get a 'worm doodle' which is something from the other Freddi games, which gives you a speed boost for a short time. This might sound great, and it is on some levels, but many just involve having you sit there waiting for a wall to open up or whatever, so it's genenerally that helpful. There's the bubbles that you can blow to temporarily disable enemies for about 3 seconds, however, I still have no idea how to even activate them. It just seems like if you hold the mouse button down in the vicinity of Freddi, sometimes she shoots out bubbles in a direction, it's completely unreliable to even use, let alone hit enemies because they only go in a straight line, and as mentioned, the duration is so bad you only get a few seconds to swim past.
Then finally there's the 'big bubble'. This is different to the bubbles, because this one is basically like the power pellet from Pac Man. While you have it, enemies you touch get flattened. They don't die, or anything, they just get back up a few seconds later, and these are so scarce I think I only got to use it like 3 times over 50 levels.
The marketing on the store page also lies. It says 'over 50 maze-crazed caverns to explore' except there's only 50 levels in this game.
I don't think I have anything positive to say about this game, I pretty much hated every moment of playing it.
a fun arcade style game. i remember how impossible it seemed as a kid, but even though it's much easier as an adult, it can still get a bit tricky in the later levels :)

Freddi Fish and Luther's Maze Madness is another Humongous mini-game, uh, game. While the other Freddi Fish games have a story, wacky characters, and tons of interactive backgrounds and puzzles, the mini-game titles do not. This is typically the main issue with these games (at least it is for me). I say this because the mini-game titles can be fun for a short while, but lack a lot of the fun and educational elements from the main games.
With that said, this one is my favorite mini-game as it offers more variety than some of the other ones. Also, like the others, you are able to make and play custom levels. As for the game, it is a top-down, point-and-click puzzle game. Luther accidentally lost some shiny green rocks that belonged to Grandma Grouper, and they must get them back before she comes home. So, you control Freddi (with the mouse) to navigate the maze-like levels, collecting shells, candy, animals, the green rocks, and a lot of other things. As you progress, the designs become more complex, new puzzle elements are introduced (such as teleporters, switches, timed hazards, and others), and dangerous fish that will attack you. Your main goal is to collect the green rocks, but there are always extra items and power-ups to collect for a higher score.
Aside from that, the graphics look very much like the other Freddi the Fish games, the UI is functional and fine. The sounds and music are nothing to note, but probably more appealing to a child. There isn't much to change or customize, but the game doesn't really have anything to modify to make the experience more enjoyable. No bugs were encountered.
Lastly, I would say the game is fine, but not really worth $4.99 USD as it is much shorter than the main Freddi games. If you get the Freddi the Fish bundle or Humongous bundle, it is worth it, but you will most likely play the other games more often.

В этой части нам нужно будет блуждать по морским лабиринтам и собирать семена водорослей на протяжении 60 уровней. Есть детский режим с бесконечными жизнями и вечным пузырем блокирующим урон. Видно, что игрушка старая потому, что на некоторых уровня было реально сложно, а ребенок которому я собственно игру и устанавливал - убежал уже на 3 уровне. В целом добротно. Если закрыть глаза на графику то можно чуть чуть позалипать.

I could not play through this game, it just disrespects my time to much with the slow moving speed, random pathing enemies, which might trap you or just get in your way, and the little to no gameplay depth for a apparently 4h game is just too much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for me.
Memes aside this game is actually pretty good for a childs game the custom level editor is basic but its a good sandbox to come up with some creative levels
All of these Humongous games that aren't the point in clicks erode my brain in a existential way.
This used to be one of my favorite games as a kid.
In this game, you explore Pac-Man-esque mazes collecting kelp seeds, while avoiding and outsmarting various hostile creatures that swim throughout the paths. Most levels have multiple mazes which extend the levels to add more playtime! In addition to this, collecting a scepter in every fifth level unlocks a bonus maze with wacky pests you must eliminate for extra points. Power-ups are also used to help Freddi outwit foes: Worm doodles give Freddi a sugar rush and increase her speed temporarily, bubble containers can shoot out bubbles that trap enemies, and a special protective bubble will make Freddi invulnerable to all enemies. The only thing I don't like about it is that Luther is not really involved in the gameplay; he's just in the cutscenes and the level select screen, which makes you wonder why his name is even in the title. Nevertheless, Maze Madness is an outstanding game and I simply adore it!

Да, стандартная аркада без каких-то замысловатых штук. Есть интересные уровни. Даже сюжет к этому смогли привязать! Из плюсов:
+ это не адски сложная аркада. Она особо не раздражает сложностью, хотя иногда приходится попотеть;
+ не раздражающая музыка на фоне;
+ для 50 уровней тут 5 различных мобов, что я считаю неплохо;
+ возможность создавать свои уровни;
+ если кому-то сложно, есть плюшки для новичков в виде бесконечных жизней и пузырьков (не пригодились).
+ игра стабильная, без вылетов. Спокойно идёт на 10-й Windows.
Но минусов тут так много, что я колебался между 4 и 5:
- непродуманная кривая сложности: первые 20-25 уровней слишком лёгкие, потом вдруг 1 сложный уровень, потом опять много лёгких. На 46 и 50 я просидел дольше всего.
- очень раздражают голосовые подсказки, которые нельзя выключить. Это один и тот же повторяющийся текст. Мне кажется даже ребёнку не нужно столько повторять, чтобы он понял.
- нет никакого обучения механикам. Я только на 46 уровне (потому что загуглил) узнал что можно пузырьками стрелять по Ctrl и задавать метку движения. Это нигде в игре не сказано.
- нет никакой системы рейтингов, что делает игру нереиграбильной. Нет смысла копить как можно больший рейтинг, он всё равно нигде, кроме как на уровне, не отображается.
- уровни относительно похожи друг на друга, это наскучивает;
- только на 50 уровне разработчики придумали какой-то интересный "сюжет" уровня. Хотя он тоже сомнительный, ибо переборщили и в какой-то момент, он надоедает;
- нельзя пройти не теряя жизни (ну или я не смог), в некоторых местах приходится пожертвовать жизнью, чтобы дальше пройти;
- нельзя останавливать рыбу, она всё время плывёт (это геймплейная особенность для сложности, но это раздражало больше, чем усложняло);
- сгорело от рыбопсов на 46 уровне и от крабов на 50, они там ну крайне несправедливо расставлены и только ради них нужно всю игру копить пузыри, чтобы отстреливаться.
В общем разок пройти - нормально. Но в отличие от сюжетных игр серии, тут как-то совсем грустно и не затягивает.
Nostalgic. First played this when I was a kid. Only major downsides are there aren't very many levels (only 50) and the level editor is very limited.
Their point and click games are great. This is just an expanded mini-game that would be better placed within one of their other titles.
I used to play this game when it was on a floppy disc. I loved making my own mazes. This did some good for my inner child. Only wish Steam had Yobi the spelling dude and his cool parrot.

I play the crap out of this as a kid and bought it the second I found out it was on steam.
And also didn't realize until the final areas of the game that you can shoot bubbles to trap enemies......whoops.
One of the side games that Humongous Entertainment likes to put out with its adventure titles, this was a simple maze game where you need to collect all the seeds without running into enemies. The game starts off easily enough but will progressively get harder as you move along.
I don't think that this was a terrible game but I did feel that it was a bit boring. There was no real puzzle solving as you are mostly just aiming to figure out how to safely get where you need to go. You just clear the level and move to the next - sometimes with a bonus level appearing.
What kills it for me though is the controls as it is entirely mouse based. This is a game type that would have benefited a lot more from enabling the keyboard.

Yo Freddi needs to dump Luther alright, that dumba** lost Grandma Grouper's kelp seeds which is kind of ironic to think the first game in the series they were stolen and the last game in the series they thrown away by the little green f***. Like the last activity game, I was pretty sure full drunk me wouldn't be able to finish this game, so wine coolers again. So Buzzed me, did need the junior help to complete but man it's hard in the sense of randomness trying to screw you over. It was alot more entertaining than the bubble popping game. I see young me liking this. So ends the Drunk Series Series of 2022, cause I don't want to become an alcoholic and do it too often, but try to complete one every year, next Put-Put...

Freddi Fish and Luther's Maze Madness is an ancient family friendly 1988/DOS era maze negotiation game, running on Steam thanks to the ScummVM engine. Gameplay involves moving around fairly basic aquatic themed mazes collecting various objects. The best way to explain this is Pac-Man without the ghosts... and if that sounds like a brain damagingly terrible game concept, then welcome to the endless, lawless hellscape that is Freddi Fish and Luther's Maze Madness.
This game is over 25 years old, it's ancient. 4:3, fixed resolution (looks like VGA). Weirdly, the devs have patched it from time to time, but this is really like putting lipstick on the skeleton of a pig that died long ago. I know that's not all that nice to say, but these guys are charging $5 USD for this, when you can play free games for kids, with much higher quality, in browsers or mobile, so how could anyone consider paying for this?
This is just some attempt to cash in on some old abandoned kids game. It's really not cool.

I want to wish all anglerfish, pufferfish, crabs, sharks, squids, gates, bubble paths, asynchronous kelp, and the man who made the bubble-blowing powerup have limited ammunition but not display it anywhere a very big go burn in hell.
It took me til level 21 to discover the keyboard controls. I made it to level 35 before I burned out. It seems that there are 50 levels in total. I don't think I can be bothered.
I am recommending this game out of spite, so some unknown person can attempt to play this game and suffer like I have.
Now THIS brings me back.
So Humongous Entertainment really should have just stuck to making point and click adventure games if this is their output when trying something new.
Where do I even begin with this game. For starters, the AI is absolutely brutal for a kids game. There's only 1 enemy in the game with a recognizable movement pattern that you can memorize and figure out how to move around. All of the others just find the quickest path straight to you, even if it means camping the same spot for a long time. You only have 2 defenses for this, neither of which are guaranteed to be in any given level. There's a bubble shield that is given for a limited time and makes you invincible. When you run over an enemy, they're stunned for a short time allowing you to swim past them. There's also bubble projectiles that trap enemies in bubbles, which does basically the same thing but you have to actually fire the bubbles. This wouldn't be so bad if there weren't times the bubble just goes past an enemy. You can also use boulders to stun them, but given enemies are more often behind you instead of in front, it rarely works out. These problems can be made less annoying with some in-game cheats to give you infinite lives and infinite bubbles, but I don't think this should be relied on as a crutch to even finish the game.
Then there's the controls. You have 2 ways to control Freddi and neither of them work out well. You can use the arrow keys (no way to change it to WASD) and clicking where you want to go. Clicking doesn't really work cause Freddi's pathfinding has a very weird view of where you click if it's more than directly in front of her. There were so many deaths and game overs to me clicking right next to her to tell her to turn and she'd just turn around and ram straight into an enemy. Clicking also comes with this annoying noise with every click, so get used to hearing it. Arrow keys also barely respond from what I've tried. Oh and remember those bubbles you fire I mentioned earlier? Guess what they're mapped to? Right click so you can just use the mouse the entire game? Nope. Space bar so it's on the same level as the arrow keys? Nope. It's the enter key. This is so uncomfortable and you pretty much have to use the bubble projectiles if you don't want to pull your hair out, especially in the later levels.
Oh yeah the level design. It's fine to start out, but by the halfway point it's just enemy spamming and having to run back and forth across the entire map just to get through a couple doors. This is beyond tedious and just made me want to hurry up and finish the game.
So yeah I recommend skipping this one. I can't speak for the other Freddi Fish arcade game since I have yet to finish that one at the time of writing, but honestly just stick to the mainline adventure games.
Had the original release of this on a disc back in the day and was surprised on revisiting it's actually BRUTALLY difficult. The opening levels might have you thinking this is a cutesy dumbed-down version of Pac-Man for Kids but some of the mazes later on are really next to impossible. They add almost a sort of doom style lock-and-key system where you have to get to a key before accessing a certain part of the maze and that really railroads you into narrow proximity with enemies. You don't have nearly as much wiggle room to escape as in Pac-Man and the challenge really adds up the further you get. This should honestly be the next hot speedrunning game. Outside of that, the retro graphics are very charming in an oldschool 90's way and the music slaps. Looks great on a CRT if you have one laying around.

A Pac-man style maze arcade game. It has 50 levels, each one with increasingly complex layouts and increasingly difficult obstacles and enemies. It not only requires reflexes, but also strategizing - it can be considered somewhat puzzle-y. The problem is that it can easily get repetitive, too challenging, unfair and frustrating (unless you use the junior aid to have infinite bubbles and lives).
It's just as I remember it
Purely based on nostalgia, this game has a special place in my library.

- Оправдаться тем, что это - детская игра - не получится. В игре "Король лев. Антология" был похожий лабиринт, но он пестрил разнообразием механик, возрастающей сложностью и прочими мелочами. Тут тоже вроде как по мере прохождения уровней появляются свои финтифлюшки, но они такие же унылые, как планы злодейских акул на рассыпанные семена.
- Повторяющиеся одни и те же фразы Фредди перед уровнем начинают бесить почти моментально.
- Хумонгос делала отличные квесты, и этот пакман - все равно что попытка начать выпускать колбасу под маркой "от создателей вашего любимого мыла и "туалетного утенка".

What can I really say about Freddi Fish and Luther's Maze Madness? Well, to start off, it is a masterpiece when it comes to great storytelling. I, as a respectable human being, will not spoil the baffling twists and turns that this emotional rollercoaster of a game puts you through, but I ended up crying on only the first mission. This game has absolutely mastered the art of storytelling, and any gamer worth his salt would purchase and play this game. The true nature of the gameplay is difficult to grasp for the average low-iq gamer. It requires knowledge of psychology, advanced mathematics, quantum theory, and last, but certainly not least, culinary arts. Absolutely amazing.

Got this for childhoodd reasons but I must say that they need to update it. Upon opening the game I quickly found that it was unplayable because it opened a window so large I couldn't even get to the settings to try to fix it. Until this is fixed I would look for a better copy else where.
Do not let it's childlike atmosphere and innocent demeanor fool you. This is by far one of the most difficult puzzle games I have ever played. I can't understand how any 8 year old was ever expected to make it past the first 50 levels.
If you're looking for a fun, silly, charming, surprisingly challenging puzzle game that allows you to build your own levels and test your wit, then this is the game for you.

Nostalgia rush. This game is just plain awesome and still has more legitimate elements of game design than are expected from most modern game developers. Levels and puzzles are engaging and making your own levels makes for tons of replayability and serious fun. In my eyes, a masterpiece. :D

Ever since I was a child, this game has always been close to my heart. I remember the hours I used to spend intentionally pissing off the angler fish by swimming behind him on level 18 and how I would have nightmares of the shark chasing me throughout a maze. I think on a first go-around, this game is ingenious, addictive and tons of fun. It's great discovering all the weird gizmos and gadgets in the later levels and the background music for some of the levels is simply remarkable. However, the level editor is absolutely horrific and I find it depressing that nobody has been able to get the in-house one to work yet. Had the level editor had everything the game did and you could create an endless possibility of custom levels, I easily would have given this game a 9/10. The enemies make downright disturbing noises at times, which can hamper enjoyment for more easily freaked out players. Regardless, this game is a solid 7.5/10 for the ingenious level designs, pleasing background music and the great fun to be had on a first go around. If you're an adult who grew up with this game or a child, definitely get it. And find out how to use that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in house level editor!

Game is great. I grew up with this game. And im very glad i can still buy the game. Works well on windows 10. Games this old are very mean about being on a perfect pc. Perfect graphics. exc. Had to do a lot of work to make it work. Please make sure it keeps up to date with new IOS.

Maze Madness is an expertly crafted Action-Adventure Puzzle game with great gameplay designed for children. You are Freddi Fish, who travels from maze to maze picking up all the green kelp seeds within the mazes after your friend Luther accidentaly scattered them. The levels build in difficulty and this teaches the player how to solve increasingly complex puzzles, as well as how to deal with increasingly difficult and numerous enemies. There are several power-ups the player can find and use, and terrain objects like rocks, whirlpools, and enemy fish can be found within the mazes. Players will be rewarded for exploration and ingenuity with a lot of bonus items, treasure, and rooms that can be found if the player does not rush to finish levels.
This game is child-friendly even for the youngest of ages, as Freddi Fish's "lives" consist of peanut butter and jellyfish sandwiches, which are eaten if you run into an enemy. For children who find the game too difficult, the game allows the player to toggle on/off an unlimited lives mode and/or an unlimited bubbles mode, both of which greatly decrease the difficulty of the game as far as enemies are concerned.
Made in the 90s, this game still looks good with its animated graphics. There are 50 mazes, so the game is relatively short compared to newer games. This game also comes with a feature that allows players to create their own mazes, which is fun and very easy to do.
Overall, this old games is very fun and recommened for children for its fun and constructive action-puzzle gamplay.

I bet you didn't expect me to review this. Well I am, so here goes.
Since all of the sarcastic reviews are out of the way, here's some information that might be helpful:
As of Windows 10, the game doesn't seem to execute right out of the box. Fortunately, the utility that comes with it, ScummVM, is ace at getting this stuff working and there wasn't too much hassle (just like it says in the game's description). This utility will be in Steam\steamapps\common\Freddi Fish and Luthers Maze Madness\ScummVM_Windows. Adjust the directory one level up when it asks for the path and you'll be able to configure audio and video if you had problems before. Using this utility does not seem to count in Steam for hours played, but it makes the game work and that's what counts. I'm more willing to throw that oversight onto Steam instead of Humongous, since everything they provided works as intended.
Once that's up, it plays flawlessly without lag or sound errors. Everything works as seamlessly as it did in 1997. I have no idea what the negative reviews are talking about, as you can navigate with the arrow keys just as before. You can launch your bubbles (which aren't strictly required to advance) however, as you might recall, you can only have one bubble firing at a time.
Content – The aim of the game is to collect kelp seeds while dodging enemies. Some enemies have patrol routes, others move randomly. They're not overly difficult to dodge most of the time, but you do have to use your wit to anticipate your enemy's movements. Even I got hit now and then for being careless. Points are a nice normal system that it's been a while since I've seen. Modern games tend to favour score attack where an action generates a random six-digit figure that you get desensitized to because it's beyond terms you're familiar with. Here, it's much more simplistic. Seeds are 1, shells are between 10-20 and other special items are 30-100. Every time you get 1000 points, you get a free life. Cool, got it.
Part of the strategy of the game is collect the shells and special items before you collect the last kelp seed, when the mission ends. Even if you don't, it's not a huge deal as the score is mostly to give you lives. The goal isn't to lose and submit your high score, it's to collect seeds and make it to the last level. If you lose all your lives, you can return to the last level you unlocked. Similarly, you can go back to any previous level you unlocked before and replay it at your discretion. There are 99 levels.
Soundtrack by Jeremy Soule, of all people, composer for the soundtracks of Oblivion, Skyrim, and many more, done in a nostalgic 90s style. It is, for the most part, extremely pleasant to listen to as you progress, as just about everything from him is.
There are some games that originated in the 90s and early 2000s that have popped up on Steam over the last year or so. Because I'm familiar with those from 12-17 years ago, I'm rather interested trying them to see if they can get back into action, especially when my copies stopped working long ago. Some are just looking for a easy money and are little more than broken rabble. I'm all too happy to point that out when it happens. This particular release seems to work better than the original, through ScummVM, which is able to use more of your modern system's abilities. Consequently, I'm happy to give it the credit it deserves. And I'm happy to recommend this as a modern-day kid's, because it's about adventure and solving a problem. Playing because you want to see what's out there and what's next rather than fighting, competing, and dominating everyone you meet.
This release has my recommendation, and I'm glad to see it's here.

Glorious. Felt like 1997 all over again. Those of you who didn't grow up with Humongous Entertainment seriously missed out. I was surprised at how hard it was (I needed to turn on unlimited bubbles). My only complaint is that the level builder is pretty limited. But I still make decent levels. Anyway get this it's super fun.

A very slow game to start, but get challanging and fun. This is a kids game. Feels dated now, so only buy it cheap.
My thoughts on the game:
I almost never choose to play single player story mode. I just make levels and see how long it takes for people to beat them. I am not sure how fun this would by if you are playing it by yourself, but if you have other people to make levels for you to try and to play your levels it's pretty fun. I can play this for hours on end just making levels and trying to think up ways to make them harder with still giving the player the feeling that the reason they lost was because they wern't skilled enough. Right now, I would play this over many other games when I have more people to play the levels I make. XD
Gameplay:
This game plays more or less like pac-man. It has three enemys, Green Fish: Goes right and left and only turns around when it hits something or if the player gets to near. Puffer Fish: Follows the player slowly and puffs up when it gets near. Shark: When the shark sees you it laughs and follows you. When the player comes in contact with the player the player loses one of their three lives and are placed back at their spawn loacation. The rest of the level won't reset when you lose a life.
I rate this game a 9 out of 10.

I rate it 9 because the custom level builder is missing some of the things in the story mode levels. They could also easily add a multiplayer mode and larger level builder spaces. Just to get something clear, I am not comparing this game to anything to give it a 9. I am judging it on what type of game they are going for and how well they did it.
An Instant Childhood Arcade Classic from the Days of my Childhood, in which you have to collect all the Kelp Seeds with Freddi Fish in 50 Levels of aMAZING Fun after Luther accidently erupts a large stream of Kelp Seeds which are carried far away by an ocean current.
This game is very similar to that of Pac-Man, I've played the Digital Download via PC & iOS,
and I find that the PC Version is pretty much better than the iOS Version.

This was a fun game I remember from my youth. The game plays a lot like Pac-Man but does do a good job of differentiating itself by adding more collectibles. Sadly, it's not as fun as it was when I was younger. The controls really aren't very good, and this is a big problem since there's no reason for this to be the case. The game would have been a lot better if you could move Freddi Fish with the arrow keys instead of the mouse. You have to click on a place in the maze to make Freddi go there, but it's difficult to make her move. Freddi tries to go where you tell her to, but the path-finding system for Freddi doesn't take maze walls into account, so often you'll end up watching her swim back and forth. You end up having to click around a lot, instead of just clicking on a corner of the screen and waiting for Freddi to swim there automatically. Freddi doesn't just go on auto-pilot like you would expect, so the game should have been controlled with the arrow keys, or the WASD keys or whatever.
It's quite difficult to avoid enemies. You can shoot bubbles by holding the mouse button down, or pressing Enter (which I don't recommend if you're right handed, since pressing Enter while moving the mouse is very difficult). These bubbles trap enemies briefly and make them unable to move or hurt you when you touch them, but you have a limited supply of bubbles, and there is no on-screen indicator of how many you have left. The bottom of the screen shows your score, lives, and a "Quit" button, but there's plenty of empty space that could have been devoted to showing how many bubbles are left, or how many kelp seeds you need to finish the level. By the way, once you collect all the seeds, the level ends. So make sure you've done everything you want to do before you get the last seed. I realize that this was probably intended to teach kids to prioritize their actions, but it gets annoying since you can't really tell if you're one kelp seed away from finishing the level. Fortunately, there's no time limit, so you can explore and backtrack as much as you need. Although this game has lives, which may seem like an outdated concept today, personally I think that this game handled it perfectly. You have 3 lives (unless you use the infinite lives cheat), and once you run out you simply return to the stage select screen. Your score returns to zero and you can keep playing. The game doesn't make you go back to the main menu, watch the opening cut-scene again, or put in a password like many old games that have lives and do it wrong. This game does have consequences for failure without putting you through unnecessary tedium.
To conclude, this game has a good concept and was a 90's classic. However, it hasn't aged very well, and is let down by some of its flaws. It's disappointing because this game could be great even today if some of those flaws were ironed out. If you never played this game, I don't recommend it, but if you have played it, or want to get a fun game for your kids, I think it's pretty good for the nostalgia factor. As much as I really don't want to do this, I'm going to have to give it a thumbs-down.
Yeah this is one that definitely suffers from age. I definitely played this one and might have beaten it I'm not sure, but at least got decently far. And I don't know how, since it's kind of an unplayable mess. Mostly, because enemy movement is entirely random leading to the player getting trapped and forced to die quite often, as well as enemies staying in the way of the path you need for progress for far, far too long. It's just... not enjoyable. It's almost entirely luck-based and there's no joy to be had in that. I guess someone can still find pleasure from this but that someone is not me, I beat it here mostly because of stubbornness but I can't say I'm glad to have replayed it.
Ok so hear me out, the game starts out with Freddy's good brotha Luthor comin over to freddy' good ol grandmas house to chill and ♥♥♥♥ and luthors all like "aw ♥♥♥♥ dude we gotta get some munchies up in dis ♥♥♥♥♥" but freddy's all like "aw hell naw luthor, you know what that ♥♥♥♥ does to ya before lunch" but Luthor was havin none of dat ♥♥♥♥ so he ransacks da house in a quest for munchies and accidentally lets loose grandma's magical treasure (i wont let out any spoilers but it has somethin to do with kelp seeds (winky face)) and now it's all up to freddy to be a man with a girls voice and get that ♥♥♥♥ back before grandma returns and goes all ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ over the place. Its an intense game filled with every emotion in the book with appearences of characters like jaws, not the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ shark jaws, james bond jaws and you know he aint just gonna let you go without wreckin some ♥♥♥♥ first, truly a game of the ages. I would have to give this a 9/10 simply because the gameplay is in fact so intense that my heart stopped mid playthrough and when revived back at the hospital i had to break the ♥♥♥♥ out just so i could get back to the game.
extra note: i do count having to break out of the hospital as part of the gameplay since it is what im sure the developers expected to happen
This is a great game for my five year old and helps with his hand coordination. Cute little tricks to figure out along the way while being entertaining!
this was the best purchase of my life. the graphics are stunning and strikingly modern for their period of conception and the gameplay is immersive… i feel as if i am the lone heroine herself swimming through the desolate ocean in search of seaweed bits and sea shells. im quitting tf2 to play this competitively
If you think this game is easy because the target audicence is children, think again. It gets harder along the way. It's like pac-man, but with fish.

Let me tell you all about Maze Madness.
You play as Freddi Fish, one of greatest female characters in gaming. Lara Croft and Samus Aran have NOTHING on Freddi. She's smart, determined, and completely badass. She also has an awful sidekick named Luther, who despite being in the title is not a playable character, and serves no purpose other than to screw up and force Freddi to undergo a challenging quest.
Your mission: recover a million missing kelp seeds. Sounds dull? Well, these kelp seeds are scattered throughout 50 different caves. Caves home to some of the most fearsome monsters to ever cross your computer screen. The first one you meet is the angler fish. This little guy is MEAN. Swim too close to him, and he will let loose a menacing growl designed to make you empty your bladder rapidly. And they only get more nasty the further you go. There's the shark, who will happily laugh as he tries to eat you. There's the crab, skulking in the shadows, silent except for the snipping sound of his deadly claws. There's the squid, who will emit an ungodly shriek every time it detects you. And worst of all: the dogfish. A Lovecraftian horror that will immediately lock onto your scent and never rest until it has hunted you down.
But hey, it's a game for kids, so the baddies can't really hurt you, right? WRONG! Every time Freddi is caught, she is forced to give up a PB&J sandwich to the creature in exchange for her life. Run out of sandwiches, and she will not dare enter another maze. It's painfully obvious that without those sandwiches, the enemies would gladly feast on her flesh. It is impossible to play this game without imagining your beloved Freddi in the place of one of those sandwiches; being ripped apart, chewed into tiny pieces, or even devoured whole. This is what's at stake.
And you WILL get caught. These dark creatures are relentless, and although you can temporarily stun them, there is no way to deal with them permanently. Freddi is always on the run, and the mazes are full of dead ends and traps. This game is difficult. The enemies are unpredictable. You can outsmart them, for a time. But all it takes is one mistake, one slip of the awkward controls.
Why does Freddi persist so? What value do these accursed kelp seeds have, that she must recover every last one? We may never know. However, I have a theory that this 'Grandma Grouper', the rightful owner of the kelp seeds, is actually a vengeful member of the undersea mafia, who will exact unbearable tortures on Freddi and Luther should the loss of her treasure be discovered. Who else could incite such fear in someone that they would rather face countless monsters than their wrath? One thing is clear: Grandma Grouper is not the nice old lady that she appears to be.
In short, Maze Madness is an accurate title, for you shall soon go mad when you venture into these horrific caverns, picking up treasure one little piece at a time. It is a poignant metaphor for life, as we stumble around in the dark, picking at scraps for our heartless overseers, with plenty of empty bonus items that do nothing except inflate a meaningless number, while we struggle to avoid the many dangers that could take our life at any moment.
This game was my childhood. It made me into the hardened man I am today, the man who can stare unblinkingly into the face of any horror, because I beat Maze Madness. I entered the depths of hell and braved the terrors within. This is not a game, it is a rite of passage, that all must pass if they are to become truly strong.
Buy it. I dare you.
My childhood is fear. Memories of prepubescent anger and rage. Characters done in MS Paint and lines repeated at the start of every level. Creating nearly impossible mazes. F***ing puffer fish.

My sister and I grew up with this game as children. I have fond memories of this. I love mazes and adventures, and this game has some pretty nice mazes. The further you go, the harder the levels get. In fact, if you get to a high enough levels, the level can be very challenging even for people who are older (assuming you don't turn on juiner helper aka cheats).
This game from Humungous' library was my favorite next to Backyard Sports. I have so many fond memories playing it on the old Windows 98 back in the day, and I'm so happy to see it return after so many years.
There's no tutorial here, but don't worry. The controls and level design are easy to pick up on. It just takes a while to get the full feel of it. It's not groundbreaking, but it's still memorable despite its age.
Naturally, kids will enjoy it too. It's easy to pick up and play, and it gradually gets harder and longer as you progress through each maze. But be careful; some levels can drive you nuts if you're not careful.
Definately worth looking at if you'd like to give a simple arcade-style game to your kid(s) to mess around on. Or if you gave away your disc and would like a simpler (and cost-effective) way to play it again.
I adore this game. It's super nostagic! The graphics are cute and colorful, and the music is fantastic. The "clicking" way to play this game is a bit strange, so use the arrow keys and it'll be much easier. If you played this game growing up in the 90's, definitely buy it, especially while it's on sale! :D
