Эта игра не просто умиляет, она держит тебя в легком напряжении и переживании, заставляет начать замечать вещи на которые не обращал внимания раньше. Игру можно пройти за пару вечеров и невозможно остаться равнодушным к этой истории. Финал тронул и оставил легкое ощущение пустоты. Я бы несомненно прошла еще раз

[h1]Fuchsdystophie, nur für Jugendliche und Erwachsene[/h1]

Ist "Endling" ein gutes Spiel? Definitiv. Macht das Spielen Spaß? Eher nicht, und das liegt schlicht an der Geschichte, die erzählt wird. Als Mutter Fuchs mit vier Welpen kann man nicht viel gewinnen, aber eine Menge verlieren. Und es sind rauhe Zeiten in einer Zukunft, in der Mensch wie Tier ums Überleben ihrer Art kämpfen, wo Luft und Wasser stark verschmutzt sind und Füchse als Störenfried oder Jagdziel angesehen werden. Selten lagen Neugier und Angst vor dem Spielen eines Spiels so nahe beieinander.

In dem etwa 5-stündigen Spiel muss man daher sein eigenes Fell und das seiner Welpen retten, die ganze Familie ernähren und ein entführtes Fuchsbaby wieder befreien. Die Landschaft ist dreidimensional, aber man kann sich nur entlang eines Wegenetzes bewegen, teilweise auch nach oben und unten. Die Grafik ist cartoonhaft, aber unterstreicht mit Farbgebung und mit den gezeigten Szenen - Waldbrand, Flüchtlingscamp, Fabrik, Müll, Abholzung, Gewalt - die düstere Grundstimmung.

Ich würde sagen, der Schwierigkeitsgrad ist mittel. Ich konnte im ersten Spiel drei der vier Jungen durchbringen und hatte am Anfang eher damit zu kämpfen, die Spielmechanik zu verstehen: Wenn man an einer Stelle Futter gefunden hat, findet man dann später wieder Futter dort? Wie kommt man an dem Wilderer vorbei ... oder sollte man dort gar nicht vorbei? Wie bekommt der Nachwuchs neue Fähigkeiten?Ist der Dachs Freund oder Feind? Kann man dem Mädchen trauen? Was passiert, wenn man bei Tagesanbruch nicht zurück im Unterschlupf ist? Man muss sich manches selbst erarbeiten, und eine falsche Entscheidung kann das Ende der Füchsin oder eines ihrer Jungen bedeuten. Zum Glück lässt einen das Spiel beim Tod der Füchsin den Tag erneut von vorn beginnen, sonst wäre es arg frustrierend.

Nennenswerte Bugs hatte ich nur einen, ein Mal wollte ein Fuchswelpe partout nicht mehr von einem Balkon runter. Gelöst durch Neustart. Und nach einer Nacht wollten meine Fuchswelpen nicht mehr fressen. Das war zum Glück am nächsten Abend (nach dem Schlafen) behoben. Mit der Performance hatte ich keine Probleme, bekam mit einer GeForce 3070 Notebook ~120fps. Die Framerate lässt sich auf Wunsch auch deckeln oder VSync einschalten, wenn man Grafikkarte und Lüfter entlasten möchte.

Empfehlen kann ich das Spiel nur für Jugendliche ab etwa 13 Jahren und Erwachsene, und auch nur, wenn diese den Tod eines Tieres und Menschen und die düstere Atmosphäre verkraften können. Jüngere Kinder werde manche Andeutungen (wie das Klicken eines Geigerzählers) gar nicht verstehen oder bekommen vermutlich Alpträume.

Wird dieses Spiel etwas bewirken? Wohl nicht, genauso wenig wie wissenschaftliche Belege, Fernsehdokus und Filme über das Artensterben, den Klimawandel oder die Probleme zukünftiger Generationen mit dem Atommüll bisher ein ausreichendes Umdenken bewirkt haben. So lange manche Mächtigen dieser Welt die Umwelt- und Klimaprobleme leugnen, Krieg führen und sich gegenseitig die Ölvorräte in Brand setzen, und so lange etliche Bürger der westlichen Welt im Winter lieber ihren Außenpool heizen als Energie zu sparen und so lange die meisten Bürger Umweltschutz als etwas ansehen, das man betreibt oder wählt, wenn man sonst keine Probleme hat, so lange scheint eine Zukunft wie die im Spiel dargestellte unausweichlich. Leider.

Trotzdem bin ich froh, dass es dieses Spiel gibt. Selbst wenn es nur die Leute Spielen, die sowieso schon für das Thema sensibilisiert sind.

Ähnlich gelagert, aber von der Grundstimmung her etwas freundlicher ist übrigens "Shelter 2", wo man sich als Luchsmutter in einer Open-World-Landschaft beweisen muss. Ohne Menschen und Umweltkollaps, aber mit ausreichend anderen Gefahren für die Kleinen. (Und ja, die Grafik ist gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber künstlerisch wertvoll.) "Shelter 2" gibt es auch im Bündel mit "Endling".

Честно, когда я только купил эту игру я думал "наверняка после прохождения оставлю забавный отзыв с шуткой мишуткой", но пройдя могу сказать, что я просто не могу описать те эмоции, что сейчас меня переполняют, в любом случае, всё же надо немного описать игру:
Если проще, эта игра хоть и про то, как мы - мать лиса, выживаем с нашими лисятами, но она также описывает проблемы мира и ценность близких. Она меняется со временем, и самое главное проникаешься теми, кто хочет убить тебя, видишь что у них тоже есть личность, свои страхи и ценности.
По итогу, рекомендую ли я эту игру?
Да, вполне, она заставила меня задуматься о некоторых моментах в реальной жизни.
И что я хочу посоветовать под конец, это лишь одно -
Цените всё то время, что проводите с близкими вам людьми, и по возможности, помогайте природе:)

Dieses Spiel ist einfach wirklich wunderschön gestaltet, mit sehr viel Herz und spricht ein wichtiges Thema an.

Die Story ist berührend. Als Fuchsmutter versucht man, die eigenen Jungen durch eine vom Menschen ausgebeutete Welt zu bringen. Umweltzerstörung und Feuer begleiten schon beim Einstieg. Jagd und Müll allgegenwärtig. Ohne viele Worte erzählt das Spiel vom Artensterben und davon, wie schonungslos sich diese Welt anfühlt. Bei manchen Szenen war ich den Tränen SEHR nahe.

Gameplay-technisch ist Endling aufgebaut auf erkunden, schleichen, jagen und überleben. Tagsüber versteckt man sich, nachts geht man auf Nahrungssuche und erkundet immer neue Gebiete. Man muss sich oft entscheiden, was riskiert man, kämpft man, flüchtet man, läuft man doch am Tag noch eine Weile durch die Gegend. Es ist zwar Survival, wo man immer die hungrigen Fuchskinder im Blick haben muss, aber wenn man immer in Bewegung bleibt, kann man es schaffen.

Die Steuerung ist simpel und man kommt sofort ins Gameplay rein. Ich empfehle auf dem Controller zu spielen.

Es hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht, es zu spielen. Zeitgleich war es unvorstellbar traurig (für mich persönlich). Ich würde es definitiv weiterempfehlen. Es bietet eine schöne Grafik, malerische Landschaft mit weichen Farben und spricht wichtiges Thema in Bezug auf unsere Umwelt und Tierwelt an. Es war ein bewegendes Spiel.

Ich habe es 2x durchgespielt und zwei unterschiedliche Erfahrungen und Achievments gesammelt.

Vielen Dank, es war wirklich sehr schön für mich, dieses Game zu spielen.

I used to work in wildlife care. Conservation is a huge topic of discussion, and saving a species is so, so difficult. This game does a phenomenal job at bringing that awareness to the player. Habitat loss, waste and litter, poaching, illegal pet trade, etc. all contribute to biodiversity decline and the loss of many amazing species.

If you care about the planet you live on, this game will bring you to tears. I encourage everyone to look into small actions you can take to improve conditions for biodiversity in your area. Even in your own yard. Plant native plants, avoid pesticides or fertilizers that can harm wildlife, and keep areas for decaying leaves and twigs for overwintering insects to survive. These small things will encourage the survival of so many creatures across your entire local food web.

The mechanics were pretty solid, very simple and straightforward. Basically just movement and interact, though you are also given the freedom to bark and play with your kits whenever you want, not just when it is tactically a good idea to do so.
The way it approached being a sidescroller was pretty interesting; it was able to make the world feel like an environment the vixen was exploring along safe paths she had trekked out by rotating the camera around at different points, as opposed to just being one straight line I followed throughout.
The simplicity of it all created a pretty good gameplay loop of leaving the den, exploring the environment in order to feed and care for the kits while avoiding danger, and returning to the den as the rest of the world wakes up in order to return to safety and rest.
It also had an engaging story, despite being limited by the fact you’re a realistic animal in a realistic world. Two engaging stories that reflected each other, really; the story of this poor Vixen doing everything that she can to survive not just by herself, but to ensure the survival of her kits; and the story of the Scavenger and his daughter Molly.
Personally I also found it very interesting how things in the game would unconsciously push me towards mimicking behaviors of wild animals in real life; as the forest became more and more polluted and food was scarcer to come by, I’d be more inclined to head into the more densely populated human areas, as even though the food wasn’t natural, or at the very worst would be literal garbage, it was better than letting my kits starve.
Games are a medium in which people get to let their creativity shine, and this is one where I feel it can be easily classified as art, a creation that wants you to feel something from engaging with it, and excels at that goal.

Итак, что коротко можно сказать про Endling
1) Приятная по визуалу инди-адвенчура на 4-6 часов
2) Трогательная, милая и грустная история про лисицу, оказавшейся в положении не в лучшем месте, времени и в принципе мире
3)Если же все, что касается истории, визуальной части, музыки и посыла о защите окружающей среды вызывает исключительно положительные эмоции, то вот к геймплею возникают большие вопросы
4) Геймплей это непрерывное поглядывание за шкалой сытости лисят и шкалой времени суток
И что один, что другой показатель на протяжении всей игры и аж до финальной главы бесили и раздражали
День бесконечный, а ночь от силы минуты 2-3 (тут прикол в том, что заниматься исследованием для получения навыков малым и выполнением немногочисленных побочных активностей лучше всего именно ночью, так как днем за каждым углом и кустом поджидают люди, которые явно не по головке собрались рыжую бестию погладить)
И тут в добавок к этому вечно голодные сорванцы, где и в так короткую ночь ты бегаешь по всем углам, чтобы наскрести еще еды (проще станет только в последней трети игры)
Ну а чтобы наступила долгожданная ночь, нужно спать в норах, которые расположены максимально не удобно и поодоль друг от друга
И как вишенка на торте в самом конце игры произошел софтлок, благо лечилось перезаходом в игру, но блин финал данная проблема слегка размазала, хотя все равно было трогательно и грустно
Честно говоря игра не плохая, просто на один раз

The only feedback I have is that having the Paw icons show up prior to your Cub unlocking that abilitiy is a little confusing. Overwise the game is very good at guiding you through and learning as you play.

Endling - Extinction is Forever left me very teary at the end, a really wonderful and important piece of art I feel so fortunate to have experienced. Could not recommend this game more.

I love animals and knew this game would be sad, but I also have a passion for endangered animals/deforestation which is why I chose to play it. Like expected it was sad, lol. But I really enjoyed it and had a good time working through all the problems and challenges tht were thrown at me. It definately took me a while to get through it (with days or even weeks between sessions) because of how sad the concept is, but it was still worth playing. Look, if you like animals and don't like seeing them in pain/trouble, don't play this game. It will only make you sad and potentially upset. But if you are okay with that kind of thing then I definately reccomend it.

For those who are very sensitive: please do as much as you can to save the four cubs [spoiler]and something else[/spoiler]. That’s what I recommend if you want to avoid an even bigger mental breakdown.

Other than that, this game is freaking awesome! The graphics, music, and sound effects… just beautiful!
The cutscenes and interactions are as impactful as the cinematics in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse - not many of them, but each carries a powerful message.

[h3] In-game time [/h3]
I got one of the four endings in around 4 hours. The map exploration may seem short, but it actually takes time, and you constantly have to choose:
A) Risk everything
B) Safely return with your cubs

All in all, I 100% recommend this game - but beware: [b]it’s emotionally heavy![/b]

I loved the story and the the small details of this game- you really have to pay attention to your surroundings. My only complaint is that I had moments where the one of my fox cubs would get stuck and not follow me. (in normal areas where all cubs should be able to) I would love to play more from this developer!

Она начинается тихо, почти мягко, будто стараясь не спугнуть, а потом незаметно затягивает тебя в мир, где каждая мелочь имеет значение, где каждый шаг матери-лисы - это маленькое чудо, а каждая ошибка - нож под ребра. Всю игру я буквально жила за эту лису: слезала с удобного места в реальности и превращалась в зверя, который несет в зубах мир для своих малышей. Я так старалась уберечь лисят: кормила их вовремя, искала любую возможность найти пищу, даже когда казалось, что вокруг пустыня из мусора и опасностей. Было пару моментов, когда они почти голодали, и эти секунды давили на меня сильнее любого хардкора. Но я вытащила их, держала их полоску еды выше половины почти всю игру, словно от этого зависела не только их судьба, но и моя собственная.

И чем дальше я шла, тем яснее становилось, насколько эта игра красива в своей боли. Пластилиновый стиль, вроде бы детский, мягкий, вдруг оказался идеальной оболочкой для тяжёлых тем: разрушающейся природы, человеческой жестокости, бессмысленной жадности, утраты дома, свободы, будущего. Она постоянно тихо шепчет: “Посмотри, что мы делаем миру. Посмотри, кому от этого больно”. И ты смотришь, ты не можешь не смотреть.

Но финал… Зачем такой финал? Почему так больно? В какой-то момент я просто перестала замечать, что игра закончилась, потому что сидела и рыдала взахлеб. И дело даже не в самом событии, а в том, КАК оно подано: будто тебя берут за руку, ведут по тёмному лесу, говорят “ты справишься”, а потом в один момент ломают свет. И все, что ты можешь - это дышать через боль, как лиса, которая просто делает то, что должна.

Endling - это удивительное сочетание красоты и ужаса, нежности и тяжёлой реальности. Это игра, которая кажется маленькой, но внутри неё больше эмоций, чем в десятке громких хитов. Она короткая, но выжигает дорожку в сердце навсегда.

Мне очень понравилось. Даже если сейчас от этой боли внутри все сжато, я рада, что прошла её. Такие истории остаются с нами насовсем.

„Endling - Extinction is Forever“ ist ein emotionales Indie-Adventure von Herobeat Studios, erschienen 2022. Man spielt keine Held*innen mit Waffen oder Superkräften, sondern eine Fuchsmutter, die in einer zerstörten Welt ums Überleben kämpft. Das Spiel setzt stark auf Atmosphäre, Umweltbotschaften und Gefühle statt auf Action. Kurz gesagt: ein ruhiges, aber sehr intensives Erlebnis, das ordentlich nachhallt.

[h1]Handlung / Story[/h1]
Die Story ist simpel, aber brutal effektiv. Als letzte Füchsin ihrer Art versucht man, die eigenen Jungtiere durch eine vom Menschen ausgebeutete Welt zu bringen. Umweltzerstörung, Jagd, Müll und Feuer sind allgegenwärtig. Ohne viele Worte erzählt das Spiel vom Artensterben und davon, wie hoffnungslos sich diese Welt manchmal anfühlt. Ich musste mehrfach schlucken - manche Szenen treffen echt tief.

Gameplay-technisch ist „Endling - Extinction is Forever“ ein Mix aus Erkunden, Schleichen, Jagen und Überleben. Tagsüber versteckt man sich, nachts geht man auf Nahrungssuche. Jede Entscheidung zählt: Wen rettet man zuerst, wo riskiert man zu viel? Es ist kein klassisches Survival mit Hungerbalken-Orgie, sondern eher ein entschleunigtes, strategisches Überleben. Trotzdem fühlt sich jeder Fehler schmerzhaft an.

[h1]Steuerung[/h1]
Die Steuerung ist angenehm simpel und schnell gelernt. Laufen, schleichen, graben, tragen - alles reagiert sauber. Auch auf dem Controller fühlt sich das Spiel sehr flüssig an. Nichts Komplexes, nichts Überladenes, was gut zur ruhigen Grundstimmung passt.

[h1]Schwierigkeit[/h1]
Der Schwierigkeitsgrad ist moderat, aber emotional fordernd. Mechanisch ist vieles gut machbar, aber Fehlentscheidungen können harte Konsequenzen haben. An einer Stelle bin ich mehrfach gescheitert, weil ich zu gierig war - das Spiel verzeiht wenig. Frustig ist es aber selten, eher ernüchternd.

Optisch ist „Endling - Extinction is Forever“ wunderschön auf eine traurige Art. Die 2,5D-Grafik mit handgezeichnetem Stil wirkt ruhig, fast poetisch. Natur, Ruinen und Lichtstimmungen erzählen ihre eigene Geschichte. Besonders die Kontraste zwischen idyllischen Momenten und zerstörter Umwelt bleiben hängen.

[h1]Sound[/h1]
Der Soundtrack ist leise, melancholisch und extrem wirkungsvoll. Keine Dauerbeschallung, sondern gezielte Musik, die Emotionen verstärkt. Die Soundeffekte - Wind, Feuer, Maschinen - erzeugen oft mehr Unbehagen als laute Musik es könnte. Kopfhörer sind hier echt empfehlenswert.

Technisch lief das Spiel bei mir stabil. Keine Crashes, keine Gamebreaker. Insgesamt sauber umgesetzt.

[h1]Grind[/h1]
Grind gibt es praktisch keinen. Wiederholungen entstehen eher durch vorsichtiges Erkunden als durch künstliches Strecken. Farming fühlt sich hier nie nach Arbeit an, sondern nach Notwendigkeit. Und selbst das bleibt angenehm reduziert.

[h1]Spielzeit / Umfang[/h1]
Die Spielzeit liegt bei etwa 4 bis 6 Stunden, je nach Spielstil. Es ist kein langes Spiel, aber eines, das genau weiß, wann Schluss sein muss. Für mich war das perfekt - länger hätte es emotional auch kaum getragen.

[h1]Errungenschaften / Achievements[/h1]
Die Achievements sind größtenteils gut machbar und teilweise story- oder entscheidungsbasiert. Ein paar verlangen bestimmte Entscheidungen oder alternative Wege. Leider lässt das Spiel keine separaten Spielstände zu; das ist bedauerlich, weil manche Errungenschaften verpassbar sind und bestimmte Vorgehensweisen mehrerer Tage hintereinander bedürfen (z. B. „Töte fünf Tage lang kein Tier“ oder „Lass deine Welpen jede Art von Futter essen“). Idealerweise beendet man das Spiel mit allen vier Welpen. Sollte ein Tag bzw. eine Nacht mal nicht optimal laufen, ist es hilfreich das Spiel zu beenden und die Nacht neu zu starten. Das Spiel speichert automatisch beim Betreten des Unterschlupfes. 100 % sind machbar, aber man muss bereit sein, manche Szenen nochmal zu erleben - was nicht immer leichtfällt.

„Endling - Extinction is Forever“ ist kein „Spaßspiel“, sondern ein Statement. Es macht traurig, wütend und nachdenklich – und genau das will es auch. Wer Action sucht, ist hier falsch. Wer emotionale Geschichten, Naturthemen und Spiele mit Haltung mag, sollte es unbedingt spielen. Für mich ein kleines, schmerzhaft schönes Indie-Juwel 🦊💔.

This short tale about mama fox and her cubs… it left me emotionally heartbroken in the end. I didn't expect this plot for the ending… It really shows how awful people can be T^T I love this game from start to finish, it really managed to tell a story without using any words, similar to the Flow movie.

I had few bugs along the way (like the cubs freezing up and not tagging along with mama fox), but it was easy to fix with just restarting the day. Took a while for me to understand how the night cycle worked, I thought if you didn't arrive to the lair when the sun came up it was game over: nope, it just a risk of not saving the day that all! Since it only auto save when the foxes were sleeping. There also a one section of the map I really struggled to get around, I felt no matter what direaction I went there was always something wanted to harm the fox, I hated the factory area! I was stuck there few times, running back and forward not able to find a way out without being caught.

Wonderful visuals and soundtrack all the way in the game, made this game feel I was looking through a storybook for children. I recommend going blind in this, don’t look up anything beforehand, you will learn everything you need to know in this game. Heartwarming tale about the last foxes on earth, I loved it
