Fun game. I think it is better in person with friends but when they can't play it is always a fun game on the computer to just see how good you can do.

Near-perfect adaptation of a great board game.
Some of the UI elements aren't the most intuitive, however, so you really need to play through all the tutorials to know what to do when you are given options by the game.
Lords of Waterdeep is not the greatest app in the world for playing a board game. It is one of the most underrated board games ever though. If you like worker placement games, this is probably one of the best "pure" worker placement games out there. It is fun with friends.

It's a faithful recreation of a fun board game. The UI works well and everything just works. The tutorials are good and the games against the AI are fun. A good option to play the game with friends who live far away and can't come over to board game night!

Seems pretty faithful to the board game version. I suck at the digital version too. At least the game honestly collects what is due to me when certain actions get taken unlike when I'm playing the board game and I totally forget to do so.

Excellent port of the board game. Plays the same. I did not find divergence from the original BG rules. The layout may seem a bit convoluted at first but it makes a lot of sense and is practical. Original BG art which I am not a fan of, but I respect it's faithful reproduction.

The game is very janky, bad and sometimes completely glitched and part of it doesn't even work. On building tiles if the owners bonus is points there is zero bonus points added!!! Not pleased.
Great game! Pure strategy, no dice rolling here. The cards all have simple explanations for what they do, but figuring out the best way to move forward and making them work together is the best part. And you can't argue with the price!

Seems like a cool game but the UI is impossible to use on larger monitors. Elements are constantly getting cut off. I can't even finish the tutorials because the button it wants me to click for #4 isn't visible on the screen.

Fantastic board game, fantastic adaptation. As someone familiar with the base game, I also enjoyed learning the mechanics from both of the expansions, which this digital adapation enabled nicely. Some fun, challenging achievements to mix things up. Easy recommendation.
Finding the game to be very addicting. Many ways to achieve points as you play this board game with D & D aspects. The expansions are reasonably priced too. The programming is very good as I have encountered no issues . Just has a nice feel about it, but games are challenging to win. Good value game for your money.

excellent tabletop game, strategy, exquisite UI of experience, and music that is relevant to the theme. There has tutorial for noob, some people who start with multiplayer mode could meet "been forfeited the game" during playing, making people confused and unclear, that's time limitation of every player be given of online, it's 30 minutes by default, you can set this time on creation page, that problem is gotten noob of online usually. I've still strongly recommending this game in 2026.
good adaptation of a great board game
I enjoy it because you can play solo against the computer and you can add additional computer players so you do not have to play two on two. With more computer generated players it become interesting on how you play. If you add the down loaded expansions, the game becomes more interesting on how you deploy your agents.

I have played this game with others as a table top. I love it!
One intrigue card breaks the whole game. If a person has that card and use it, nobody can use intrigue card to give mandatory quest or attack to the person who used that card until the end of the game. This mechanic creates a big unbalanced situation for players because none of them can stop one person just because he was lucky to have that card.

Feels a lot like playing the boardgame IRL, but without the huge mess of cards. The music is nice and the sound effects are ...amusing
Only issues are the somewhat clunky UI, which has a couple of interesting quirks.
My only actual complaint is the nearly complete lack of usable AI for games without enough actual people
I own the physical game with all expansions, the android version, and here on Steam. It is a very fun game and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a worker placement game. While I would recommend a first play not use the DLC for a easier learning curve, the expansions do add a lot to the game and I think make it a lot more fun, while address issues with the base game, such as being too limited on placement spots at times.

An extremely well done adaptation to the table top game, so if you are already a fan, definitely pick this up. For those just looking at is as a virtual game: The AI, even at the highest level, is has some strategic flaws which reduces the replayability for single player, but even as a 'solitaire' style game it keeps the brain engaged with huge set of decision points at all times. The interface is very good. The sound is pretty bad, but not a critical part of the game.
This game blows. The User Interface is beyond horrible and the bot AI is ridiculous to play against.
Just play the board game of this and avoid this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ digital version.

The sound effects are laughable. The interface is a little buggy with the Agent placement. Those are all I can complain about. Everything else I have to say about the game is positive. Buy on sale definitely, but also buy for full price if you can. Another good digital rendition of a good board game.

Bought the game and some DLC. Got stuck on the tutorial for DLC: where you are directed to complete the "Enter the Tower of Seven Woes" quest but can't. Or, it's not intuitive. It's the type of thing that makes me hate a game, can it, and never look back. But, I did look back.
It's not a bad game in spite of some clunky mechanics. If you liked the board, you'll probably like this too. If you have never played the board gave version but have some patience, you'll enjoy this too. It scratches and itch that only games like this can scratch.

this game is poorly balanced, a bad spawn can ruin your game, the turn limit is intended to end the game before the poor balance reaches critical mass. the AI is poor and some characters like the Xanathar are just plain bad to be dealt. I don't know anything about the multiplayer, maybe that's more fun.
I have the boardgame and love it - and now I have the computer game, and can play it more :-)

If the D&D brand wasn't on it, it would be the same "collect X, spend X to get Y" snorefest of a game, but would attract less attention - it just livs off it brand.
It's "economy system" is bare bones and not challenging, unless you have a bird brain.
For a D&D branded game there's criminally little adventure going on. It's not engaging at all. You're literally only picking up people for free instead of adventurers, spending them unceremonously... and that's it. You can completely ignore any texts or pictures on the quest cards, look only at the "spend / get" section and still win a game that's about you leading an adventurer's guild...
The expansions add new locations for barely noticable variatio, as well as new cards, that you don't need to read... great. Money well spent.

Fun worker placement strategy game
The Tian Mingjian incident in 1994 is still shocking to me. Tian Mingjian was an officer in the Chinese army. He seemed to be doing well in his personal life: Mingjian had a wife, a daughter, a good career. Life was good. The problem was that the young officer and his wife wanted to expand their family. This was not allowed due to the one-child policy. Is it a coincidence that things happened AND they didn't buy this game? You tell me.
This is an awesome little resource management board game, and the digital adaptation is quite good, and pretty affordable, which is important for playing with friends.
What an awful game. The UI is absolute garbage. If you click on the wrong thing in setting up a game, good luck in trying to undo the mistake. I think the game was only a couple of dollars on sale; it isn't even worth that.
I enjoy solo board gaming but unfortunately Lords of Waterdeep doesn't work well when using the unofficial solo variant. This app allows me to play against bots. I win 95% of the time but it doesn't lessen the experience. I just enjoy building my engine. Lords of Waterdeep is the perfect gateway board game imo and one of the best worker placement games to date. The digital implementation is superb. Recommend!

Strategy game (worker placement mechanism) with a shortage of resources. The player has to find ways to introduce more resources into the game, especially the ones that are useful to his/her Lord (aka to the points won at end of game). Very well designed. No need to have DnD experience.
An excellent digital implementation of the game. For those of us who have trouble keeping a consistent gaming group schedule (for whatever reason) this allows you to play the game solo with the game taking on the role of other players.

It's a good resource management and meeple placement game with card mechanics. Not glowing or ground-breaking. I prefer it at 3 or 4 players, as 5 is just too crowded. However, that's just my opinion. Some may prefer it that way.
The online play is terrible though, for any achievement hunters, as there are not many people on and the only games that work out are the ones that take weeks and weeks to finish.

Game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up. You HAVE to play with mando's and the legendary lord card, the first player who gets these cards wins. The board game is very good, the digital version sucks big time. On top of this, the game is almost dead online, a few players still play it, but they know ALL the cards by heart. Don't buy this.

One of the best table games.
Excellent game overall. Great graphics, AI plays smart, generally fun. The only blind spot/blight are the ridiculous mandatory quests, which strongly determine who will win or lose. Fundamentally, two of them, especially if given late, are almost impossible to recover from, meaning that victory is merely luck. At home we have returned the mandatory quests to the box and never play with them. Regrettably, the designers refuse to implement a simple button for removing them from play. If they did that, the game would be awesome.
Fun game whether playing with friends or just doing a solo game. a great way to waste 30 minutes.
