I bought this game when I heard Chuck Norris passed away and figured I’d play it for two hours to get a couple laughs and refund it but I have genuinely enjoyed this game. I am shocked cause when I saw all the trailers I just thought oh it’s a payday rip off but no this game is so much more than that so I 100% would recommend you play this.

Very mediocre game filled with bugs, nothing special but the character cast. I hate that the developers lack the backbone to stand behind Kirsche to appease the 4 woke cancel mob members that bought the game. The "modern audience" you are trying to cater to doesn't exist, and they definitely don't ever buy the products that they rage about on X. It's all performative outrage from people that 1. didn't buy the game or 2. won't ever buy the game. I wish devs would defend people like Kirsche just once to see the wave of money that would be thrown at them. Yeah 100,000 people on X will yell at you and say the dumbest ♥♥♥♥ you've ever heard, but they aren't your real customers anyway, and never would have bought your game regardless of your actions.

You buy this at a cheap sale price expecting low-quality, with the expectation of disliking it by the end.

You end up enjoying it by the end, realizing despite the cheesy and corny dialogue, you find yourself needing to search for a reason to hate it.

It's not perfect, but it's certainly not bad. It's a different flavour of Payday, with a little bit better gunplay (2), less customizable weapons, but it works. Heists are quite varied, the heisters are abundant and mostly forgettable but interesting enough to warrant the rogue-like mechanics of the standard mode for a splash of spice. Some mechanics are interesting and work, given its placed in isolation where warranted. (territory wars)

The one dislike is really the corny dialogue, but that's less of a writer being imcomptent and more of a writer really meticulously inspired by the slap-stick gen-x media like SWAT or buddy-cop films of the 70s to 80s. Hilariously on brand from when Nicholas Cage was exceedly relevant unlike in todays times (excluding the recent news of his passing.)

You will find yourself rolling your eyes though if you can get easily annoyed by it. Gameplay makes up for it a good chunk though.

For 20 USD, not on sale, definitely recommend if you like the heisting genre and don't really care for Payday 3 or Payday 2. Or maybe Payday 2 is growing bland, while the studio around Payday 3 is in the rough patch at this moment. This'll satiate SOME of that hunger.

Когда игра только вышла, многие были разочарованы. На релизе это был непонятный набор заданий с заставками и плохой озвучкой. Казалось, проект обречен. Но разработчики не бросили игру. Они продолжили работу, и на данный момент проект затягивает кучей режимов и неожиданно глубоким геймплеем.

ОСНОВНОЙ ЦИКЛ ИГРЫ

Микс ограблений и роуглайта на удивление вышел интересным решением. Каждый забег — своя история, которая не прощает ошибок. Зная, что будет на задании, начинается микроменеджмент: как пройти (тихо или громко), сколько и каких персонажей взять, какие гаджеты могут понадобиться. Это очень интересно и каждый раз захватывает.

РЕЖИМЫ

Помимо одиночной кампании и простого выбора одного задания, есть еще три режима:

1. Заварушка. Это чистый аналог режима Zombies из Call of Duty. Ничего лишнего, очень залипательно.
2. Тасовка. Раскрывает главный замысел игры про клиповые или ТикТок ограбления. Подряд идет пара мелких дел. Отлично разбавляет игровой процесс.
3. Городские легенды. Приближено к тому, что описано про одиночную кампанию, но это сюжетные задания на 4 игроков. Сюжет в коопе проходится именно так.

ГЕЙМПЛЕЙ И АТМОСФЕРА

Сам процесс игры прост и прекрасен одновременно. Оружия не много, но есть его вариации, и каждое имеет место быть. Стрельба и звуки приятные. Гаджеты тоже решают многое, как помощь в стелсе, так и при громком прохождении.

Атмосфера передает дух боевиков 80-90-х: окружение, внешний вид NPC — все идеально. Музыка, как оригинальная, так и лицензионная, идеально вписывается в игровой процесс. Трек Connected в меню и напряженный саундтрек во время задания работают на атмосферу.

Про озвучку: на релизе было плохо, сейчас ситуация исправлена. Неизменным краеугольным камнем остается Чак Норрис.

ЧТО МОЖНО УЛУЧШИТЬ

Несмотря на прогресс, есть замечания и пожелания на будущее:

1. Реакция противников. Хотелось бы, чтобы конкурирующие банды и шериф активнее отвечали на действия игрока. Не только атака на территорию, нападение на склад и партнеров, а например, вторжение прямо на ограбление. Со стороны полиции они могли бы отправлять больше охраны на потенциальные места ограблений. Нужна более насыщенная реакция противников на действия игрока.

2. Мультиплеер в роуглайт режиме. Реализовать такое не сложно. Главное добавить настройки: кто сможет ставить игру на паузу (только хост или еще приглашенные игроки). Также можно добавить возможность выбора или предложения ограблений другими игроками. Выдать роли: Босс, Правая рука и Боец. Можно добавить параллельное прохождение миссий и увеличение сложности в зависимости от количества игроков. Тут есть простор для творчества.

ПОДДЕРЖКА РАЗРАБОТЧИКОВ

Разработчики после провального релиза не сложили руки и продолжили обновлять и исправлять игру. Настолько, что сейчас выйдет официальный МодКит, что для кооперативной игры очень круто.

ИТОГ

Если вы готовы простить ошибки прошлого и оценить то, что игра из себя представляет сейчас — проект стоит вашего внимания. Это история о том, как игру можно спасти трудом и любовью. Но с онлайн беда, меньше 1000 в стиме. Очень хотелось бы чтобы кто-нибудь из крупных блогеров и/или журналистов снова обратили внимание на игру...

Dieses Spiel ist Payday nur ausgereifter. Das Spiel spielt sich flüssig und durch den RogueLike Modus habe ich viele Stunden Spielspaß gehabt. Ich habe lediglich das Grundspiel ohne weitere DLCs gekauft und kann Crime Boss sehr empfehlen. Die Szenerie basiert immer auf den gleichen Elementen, Banken, Malls, Polizeirevier, Hafenviertel mit Lagerhäusern, aber durch die dynamische Anpassung der Spielelemente bei jedem Start einer Mission kommt kein eintöniges Spielerlebnis auf. Richtig cooles Spiel. Have fun.

Crime Boss: Rockay City is a first-person shooter that blends heist gameplay with a roguelike structure, heavily featuring 90s action movie stars like Chuck Norris, Kim Basinger, Danny Trejo, Michael Rooker.

Unlike traditional heist games, the singleplayer "Baker's Battle" uses a roguelite loop where you conquer territory, manage a budget, and recruit a crew. If you die, you lose your progress but gain permanent "Boss Level" bonuses that make future runs easier, providing a unique "just one more try" hook. The game recently updated its bots' AI (which can now loot and carry bags on command), added numerous free heists like the "Afterburner" mission, and introduced a "How to Heist" guide to help new players.

Whilst the campaign structure is novel, the actual gameplay loops—such as small-scale robberies and turf wars—can quickly become monotonous and repetitive. As a Payday 2 and Payday 3 enjoyer, i have no idea why people are complaining about this game so much. Payday 2 is pretty old and outdated and for a lot of people including me still the best heist game, but comparing this to payday 2 and not recommending it just because it's worse doesn't really make sense to me. Sure the missions get pretty repetitive after a while but i would say that's not really different to the Payday games. Even tho roguelite is solo only, i still enjoyed it and its very refreshing seing a heist game with different mechanics like speeding up drills. For $1,99 it's been a peak experience and got me hours of fun.

Can't argue with the fact that this game replaces Payday 3 so well, it's really fun and the fun doubles even more when you grab friends with you. Stealth actually works in this game really well, at least from the tutorial level what you can do seemed really stealthy and easy on veteran difficulty.

A tepid, asterisk'd recommendation to a specific kind of player. If you're someone who liked playing PAYDAY 2 in single player and wished they focused on emergent narratives and multi-day heists more, if you're someone who enjoys being able to pause and suspend their game but likes replaying the same maps over and over with RNG to get a better score, if you're someone who can put up with weird, outdated, occasionally blatantly offensive voice lines and material...

AND, if you're someone with PC hardware way overbuilt for performance... THEN, and only then, would I start to recommend this game. If you miss PAYDAY 2's old days, have a good PC, can put up with gross and dumb one liners and ♥♥♥♥... then there's actually a pretty solid game here. Aghast as I am to say this, Crime Boss is one of the best 'Heisting' games on the market.

It did not start that way. This is after many many updates, and I'd argue the game is in need of many more (remove the generative AI advertisement textures already!!). It is still buggy, it is often tedious, it needs you to be a very specific kind of person who can laugh at the absence of humor and bad comedic timing. If you find the It's Always Sunny episodes where they make their own Lethal Weapon sequels funny, you'll get a laugh out of this game.

But... I like that when you ADS from cover you automatically lean around the cover. I like that you can open gates to bring your escape van closer. I like that there'll be random events like gang ambushes to stop jobs I've done 100 times before from being the same that 101st. I like that the single-player unlocks stuff for the co-op now. I like Mac as a character, even. The bots will actually work with you on the job and adapt to the situation!

I'm... surprised. This game has come a long way, matured, shed off the worst of itself, and what's left is worth reevaluating. There is no other roguelite like it. It will cater to your single player heisting fantasy experience extremely well if you're willing to accept its flaws, and is a pretty solid laugh in co-op.

Seriously, boiler plate content warning for just, every kind of raunchy, offensive thing you could think a 90s movie parody might bring up. Hope Madsen is resting well.

С другом только и делали, что сокращали название этой "как ее там" игры до лаконичного "ПЭЙДЭЙ ПРО ЧАКА НОРРИСА!", а тут вот оно как. Обычно все равно на смерть очередной знаменитости, но это целая эпоха мемов 2010-ых и если вы также захотели почтить память человека, который заставлял лук плакать за 105 рублей, то эта игра - хорошее решение

Dommage qu’il y ait si peu de missions, et qu’elles ne soient pas toutes faisables en stealth sois en discrétion totale. Le jeu reste super, mais ce point‑là manque vraiment.

Pourtant, j’ai kiffé grave : parfait pour chill avec un pote, créer de la complicité et se taper de franches rigolades.

En plus, sur certaines missions, la map peut changer légèrement à chaque restart, ce qui enrichit vraiment l’expérience et la durée de vie.

Mais malgré ça, je trouve qu’il y a trop peu de missions, et surtout trop peu de missions orientées stealth, ce qui laisse un goût de “pas assez”.

Mais malgrès tout le jeu est clairement trop underrated / sous‑coté à mon sens. Beaucoup de gens le boudent sans vraie raison.

Hard not to compare this with Payday 2. I tried to get in to Payday 2 but it is so dated and the stealth mechanics are hot garbage.

Crime Boss does it way better - it's much more modern, easier to pick up, graphically superior and combat is way more satisfying. I just hope that more people play this game so that the devs have a reason to continue creating content.

其实优点也不少，肉鸽模式下，做任务攒钱招小兵抢地盘再武装升级团队的循环挺有意思的，全DLC下的各种大型连锁任务也很丰富。
如果出生在2014年这游戏估计会成为某些遗老至今钻研的神作。但可惜的是其画质建模在2024年过于简陋，任务地图复用率极高，移动后左键开火断触的bug两年仍未修复，这些是技术层面上的失败。
而缺乏引导似乎才是褒贬不一的核心问题，如何潜入恐吓制服完全没有教程，放在主菜单第一位的竟然是类PAYDAY的合作模式，第三位才是肉鸽故事模式，主角贝克一旦阵亡就会直接结束整局游戏，几个小时的流程只能从头再来，但任务难度的曲线又十分陡峭且描述模糊简陋。
重开了三四把好不容易这一把精心计划，偷走龙犬雕像灭掉美元龙，结果不小心接到冷锋行动，4人小队前脚还在抢劫乡村银行，后脚就被仍到俄国军事基地里抢核弹，被无穷无尽的俄军＋T80坦克围殴。好不容易炸飞坦克把核弹护送到隧道，又突然要你原路返回基地中心放c4，苦战半小时还是倒在枪林弹雨中，然后整局肉鸽GAME OVER 六个小时的时间白费。唉，只能说我太菜了。。。。

Don't think this game is for me in the small time I played this. Looks like it has quite a bit of polish in the maps I played but stealth games have never been my forte. I'm more of a big hammer go bonk kinda person. Though I do think this game would be fun with friends.

I read reviews that say the onboarding/tutorializing of the game is rough, but I didn't realize it was to a game-breaking point where you can lose hours of progress in the last-gasp roguelite mode by losing more than half your loot by not following guidelines to a perfect T.
Devs wasted their funds getting celebrities instead of making a good game.

Very underrated game. I bought this game because payday 3 sucked and wow is this game fun. It has a few issues but they aren't severe. You can command the bots however you like (almost) and the heists are quite fun (expect operation cold strike, that heist is way too difficult compared to other heists in my opinion). The gameplay is pretty good (killing cops is fun) and yeah...

Этот кусок кода так сильно лагает, что убивает мне стим и почти вешает систему, я так понимаю разработчики данной игры ушли в gearbox помогать делать Borderlands 4, отвратительно, Payday 3 лучше все таки. Покупал игру за сотку чисто ради роуг-лайг режима, но и он в итоге оказался нудным, очень жаль, у игры был хоть и очень маленький, но потенциал.🐈💨

Honestly, i prefer this game to the Payday games.
Sure, Payday 2 has a lot more content (because of paid DLCs) and i hope this game will still get updates for a few more years.
This game has better gameplay and the mechanics are more interesting but it does lacks in terms of content (maps, weapons, characters).
Some characters are interesting but Payday 2 has more interesting characters (because of paid DLCs) and its weapon customization unlike this game.
Difficulty-wise, i prefer this game, it's not hard nor easy, it's pretty standard, while Payday endless waves of polices has always annoyed me plus it lacks the gang turf war that this game has.

It kind of feels like Gangs of London for the PSP or even Scarface: The World is Yours (minus the open world aspect but maps are big enough)

Hopefully that the modding tools will let us create new maps, new missions, new weapons and more content, we would only have to hope that there would be a strong modding community.

It's a 8/10 for me but i could see people give it a 6.7/10 or 7/10, at the same time, i wasn't expecting much from this game.

Edit: Took me about 7 hours to complete my first roguelike campaign on medium difficulty, not sure how there's so many players who failed the campaign so early, difficulty-wise, i prefer this game to Payday, AI bots are also a lot more useful in this game than in the Payday games.
Anyway, great game, hope to see more of it! Perhaps a rogue-like mode similar to the one we've got but where we play as the cops instead, would be pretty neat too!

Edit 2026-03-22: Rest in Peace Chuck Norris, i wasn't really following him (nor any actors / celebrities) but he looked like a good guy compared to most celebrities and he wasn't scared of talking about his faith and Jesus which is wrongly seen in society but especially in the cinematic world.
Peace in Jesus is a peace that will last forever, it knows no end, it's for eternity so congratulations to you my brother in Christ and good graces to his family, God never abandons his childrens.

It's almost good. The controls are pretty horrible, let alone the lack of explaining them.

It was fun for a little bit, but what I don't understand is why this game is dripping with content without improving the core experience.

At first the game looked pretty promising: gang wars, robberies, lots of weapons, and some really cool characters.

But after playing it, the gameplay gets boring very quickly.

Most missions feel almost identical. You fight gang members, fight the police, run away, and then repeat the same thing on another similar map. Especailly the territory battles — you enter, fight the same enemies for a few minutes, finish, and then immediately do another one. Sometimes you have to end up doing four or five of them continually.

And the story and world also feel very fragmented. The game throws you into a situation where the king is dead and you suddenly have to fight for territory with a group of companions, rival gangs, and a cowboy detective chasing you — On paper this could have been interesting, but the game barely connects these pieces together. Characters say a few cool lines, then screen cuts, then you are dropped do a short mission, then another screen cuts. Everything feels disconnected and rushed.

Overall, the game has fun for the first 30 minutes. Then you will realize you've already seen everything the game has to offer.

Also dieses Game habe ich zuvor knapp 60h schon über einen anderen Launcher gespielt und es macht immer noch Bock. Es ist schlussendlich der bessere Nachfolger von Payday für mich, der immer wieder Bock auf einen neuen Run macht. Ich hoffe noch auf weitere Heist Updates

Great game. Payday 2 or 3 has a brother. Sneaking, stealing, breaking, subduing, hacking, shooting. Go stealth or go loud. Many different missions and characters. It has less leveling up of the skills than payday 2.
