I just love the feeling of walking around in such a beautiful world, thats wat got me to playing the game.
But what really surprised me was how much fun I am having with the restorant and cooking parts.
Best thing for me is playing it on my steam deck, it just great with controller.

This game has reinvigorated my love for gaming... I haven't enjoyed anything this much since the last Animal Crossing or Hello Kitty Island Adventure game!! 20/10 would recommend... it's more approachable than Stardew and I personally think this has one of the most gorgeous art styles I've ever seen. The dev had building videos on Youtube and I've loved watching the game be built... just makes it that much more special!!

this is simply an amazing game. even in early access it has a lot of content, lots of stuff to grind for and a lot of freedom to do stuff your way.
It currently is a bit more light on the story and romance-side but it did get more updates on that part during the early access.
For this price, this simply is a steal and you can have tons of hours of playtime in this game if you like to find your own goals and grind for them your way

This game is... chef's kiss. I LOVE IT. There's a lot to do and this game truly reinvents a familiar theme. It may just be one of my favourite games of all time.
Achievements are bugged as some of them won't register even though I know they should have unlocked. From other posts I've seen online this has been a problem since the game has released, and the only solution is to start over and hope it registers in the new file. This is unfortunate because I have been enjoying the game but don't want to start over just to track my progress. I'm also not to keen on continuing playing this game knowing if I put more hours into it, I might get screwed out of an achievement.
Has heaps of potential, has glitches and things that can be improved on for sure but considering this is early access I'm understanding. Still heaps of fun, can't wait to see what's in store for future :)
This may be my favorite game I've played in my life. Every new discovery and feature I've had in my first few hours of playing Chef RPG make my autistic urges spasm with joy. My favorite elements of all the games I've played has been cooking; Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, Rusty Lake Hotel, even Minecraft when I was seven years old and I'd taught myself how to download Pam's Harvestcraft on Twitch. This game has truly been such a comfort for me. I'm not someone that writes reviews often, in fact I don't think I've written a review in my sixteen years of living, but this completely warrants it. A++

I find this game really chill and enjoyable to play. It lets me take my time without feeling rushed, which makes the cooking and restaurant management fun instead of stressful. I also like exploring the cozy world while gathering ingredients and discovering new things.
Even though the game isn’t perfect yet since it’s still in Early Access, I still enjoy it a lot. The relaxing vibe and fun gameplay make it a great game for anyone who just wants to sit back and have a good time.
I'm not a big fan of this game. I don't really like the art style or control. I'd recommend the game Traveller's Rest if you're looking for a fun cooking game.

Very peaceful game that scratches the itch I didn't quite feel in Stardew or Fields of Mistria which was being able to do more with my crops/ingredients. Running my own restaurant with staff really makes me feel like I'm more 'engaged' with the game outside of resource gathering and then selling. It's more hands-on would be the best way to explain it.
Very cozy, very peaceful, very fun and engaging.
I had a close friend of mine show me about 15 minutes of gameplay and I was hooked.
1000% rec if you are looking for something cozy and fun to get into! The minigames remind me of old wii minigames, I love it.

Pros:
-Characters stories are interesting and less generic than most cozy game characters, especially the main character. The peeks into his backstory are fun and entertaining
-The art style, architecturally, is very interesting
-Varied recipes and ingredients for your restaurant
-Wide range of ways to "cook" your food
-Designing the restaurant is fun
-Fast travel is nice
-Music is varied
-Lots of cosmetic items and options
-Managing staff and the restaurant has potential to be something really fun
-Overall pleasing art direction
Cons:
-Fast travel, while nice, unlocks very early, and trivializes a lot of points of interest. I just ping around a few times and the day is done
-Ingredients are cumbersome to procure, especially meat. It's hilarious, but when you get an animal you're "hunting" low on HP, it turns into a juke god that will move out of the way of arrows mid flight. Combine that with how loose the bow feels on a controller, and you'll just not hunt unless you're playing with a keyboard and mouse
-Profit/cost seems off balance for ingredients, at least in the time I've played
-The sprite portrait art is off-putting. It doesn't seem stylistic, it clashes with the small sprite art pretty harshly. I really hope it is revisited, because it's very distracting. The new laughing portait animations are the stuff of nightmares
-Almost all tools feel bad to use (watering can, drill, scythe), with no tile indicators and clipping for all animations
-The mini-games are fun at first, but get old quickly
-The terrain art is severely lacking when compared to the building design. There's clearly some architecture studies from the creator, and it shows, but it also shows up where those studies are lacking. The mines in particular feel really weird visually, along with most cliffs, beach, grass, etc. The water is pretty, tho
-Stiff animations for a lot of stuff
-The magnet/pickup range for items is awfully small
-The map is hard to navigate with a controller, as using the right stick simultaneously cycles through locations and moves a mouse pointer, both of which register
-Although there are a lot of styles to cooking, it's odd seeing tomato soup or something similar prepared in a wok by frying it in oil
-Staff management, thus far, is really shallow and boring, with staff randomly falling asleep after working for 2-3 hours on a shift, which is barely enough time to serve 3 customers
-A lot of typos in quests, especially in the spring of year 1
-Speaking of quests, some kind of on screen indicators for items needed/collected so far (i.e NEED 10. COLLECTED 8/10) would be nice for quests that require them for turn in. Otherwise, I just don't know if I've collected 30 sugar cane, 30 cranberries, 30 carrots, 30 elk meat, unless I empty my inventory before I start or keep track myself
-Fishing is boring
-Really, gathering and farming in general are missing a "fun" feeling and I'm only doing them because the ingredients are too expensive for me to purchase. I need 5 tomatoes to make a dish that sells for 50g. Tomatoes cost 13g each, and aren't the only ingredient in the dish, so...
Despite the cons, I'd still recommend the game. I'm taking a break because I'm confident the developer will continue to improve upon it and I'm excited to see where it goes. I'm happy to give my money in support of this project and I'm hopeful that the developer will take some of these reviews to heart when thinking about where to focus their time and energy next. I'd really love them to revisit some of the core gameplay elements and refine them to create a more solid loop, then I think you'd have quite an addictive formula. Everything after cooking, ingredients, characters, fishing, the mines, and farming should be on the back burner for now, I think.
Anyway, it's definitely fun, but I don't think it's near it's potential yet.

I normally dont post reviews ever, but this game definitely needs one. Ill be covering these aspects in my review:
[Fishing , Staff , Hunting , Chopping Cooking Minigame , Spring Event , Social Progression]
Fishing:
Fishing is basically impossible. Does not matter where you fish, it is basically impossible. I had already looked up if others were having trouble and majority voted yes. Do not bother with fishing, it does not work.
Staff:
Chefs: If a chef runs out of energy when finishing a dish, they will hold the food in their hand and fall asleep, making it impossible to get to the customer. I found this to be extremely annoying and frustrating because it affected my satisfaction score. If this was a deliberate mechanic, its not in good taste and just adds an unnecessary frustration to an already frustrating game.
Waiters: The same thing with the plates happens with the waiters
Hunting:
When hunting, sometimes when you hit an animal, it will start running through trees that you are not able to walk through or off ledges that you have to find a staircase for. This is happens more times than I'd like to count. This is a bug that I definitely think needs to be fixed.
Chopping:
The minigame is like a rhythm game; you have to press the arrows in the way they point at a certain time. However, if you miss an arrow, it will become red, and decrease your quality score of your dish. Now, instead of the arrow disappearing, it will continue to go down to the bottom of the screen and then disappear, as if you missed the arrow and never hitting it in the first place. This also counts and decreases your dish quality score. So, it counts for two. This needs to be fixed in my opinion.
Spring Event:
I dont remember if it is called "Farmers Wager" or whatnot but whatever the main minigame is for the event, it is basically impossible. It is a very simple game, simple premise and all. However, for some reason, my luck was absolutely terrible and the ai had unimaginable amounts of luck, even when I was in the lead. I ended up in last place when against 10 other ai.
Social Progression:
Many of the perks that you can acquire should not be solely reliant on how high your social leveling is. This makes it hard to get simple perks in the game that should be easily obtainable. Every other aspect of the perk requirements are easy, but the social level requirements are impossibly high. a second level perk requirement requires a level 6 Social level. It takes forever to get that leveling up, even when giving gifts and managing your restaurant.
OVERALL THOUGHTS!!!!!!!!
This game has potential. I do enjoy it, but not enough to recommend it until they fix the issues. Im sure itll be better when it fully releases, so I'd recommend waiting until it does to purchase it.
cook food
The game has a really satisfying gameplay loop with cute and unique characters. My only gripe is the seasons don't really seem to change the gameplay focus that much. I was hoping each new season would introduce new ingredients and challenges. Otherwise, pretty addictive. The research system is robust, the minigames for cooking are pretty fun and there seems to be a lot of deep lore in the main storyline. I can't wait to see the finished product, but currently I'd say it's worth picking up.
Super cozy. Like palia plus stardew only the best of each, combined. Excellent game. Highly recommend.
If I can keep farm, I want my experience to go up endlessly in some way. Do not cap me out in act 1..
If you are going to have romance, have more than a handful of romantic lines.

最独特的就是画风！！！一开始看商店界面觉得有点欣赏不来，实则进入游戏后一秒爱上这个画风！特别特别喜欢这种有点小众很独特的美术风格！每个npc的立绘都很有特色！赛博仿生人的设定更是出彩！另外每个菜谱和食材都画的非常非常好看！！！餐厅经营就是在自己收集解锁到好看的菜品的时候格外开心啊！做菜环节是花了大心思制作的，比如根据饮品立绘的不同，做菜小游戏时使用的杯子也不同，炒菜等环节使用的原材料也是跟着食谱走的，很有体验感。美工UI界面的设计也非常舒适，操作很方便。
作为经营类游戏有在尽力避开日无一日开店赚钱的无聊，主线剧情、食材采集、社交系统做的都很不错，没有强制需要哪天干什么对n人来说很友好，0.8版本更新后的菜品研究玩法更是让人眼前一亮（虽然益智小游戏让人又爱又恨的），在餐厅经营类游戏中我觉得是自由度稍微高一点的类型。从目前已有的人设和主线剧情都可以窥见制作组对于该游的奇妙构想，他们在认真地尝试构建一个他们所相信的世界。小镇上有可以交互的npc（送礼和对话要选对才能加好感！），还有很多路人npc，他们没有交互和约会系统，但是仿佛也真正生活在这个小镇上。
最大的缺点就是一直没有上正式版和只支持英文，看更新频率还可以，但如果现在这个体量上正式版的话还是希望更新更多的内容，否则可以预见玩到五十几个小时后期金钱自由后会无聊了。希望多更点社交恋爱、主线剧情和节日活动吧，如果有更多玩法可以再多提高一点自由度的话，可玩性会好很多，虽然我很看好这个游戏，但目前客观来讲它也就是个开餐厅的。
As much as I enjoy playing and I would actualy reccomend the game to anyone who enjoys this little farm-sim variation I do find it just a bit lacking. The greenhouse function, which lets you have most of the fruits/vegetables without buying them from the store being one of the only options to make your cooking a bit wider is a tad annoying. I do know that games like these make us go through literal years of grinding/farming but there should be a wider variety of foraging goods.
The other thing is the lack of fish/meat options. We literally have 3 meats and few more fish to get and it's a literal hell cycle.
I do hope that the game updates even more and brings us more opportunities as it's really enjoyable to play :)
I'm going to recommend this game because I believe in its potential, but pretty much everything I have to say here will be an honest review of the game as it is in EA.
This was really really fun in the beginning, but I can see a lot of issues that could impact longevity. One already has for me, and I haven't even played for 20 hours yet; I'll be honest, after ending my very first season super excited to jump into the next to finally get to see what new ingredients I'd find, I was immensely bummed to discover that they're all basically the same between seasons. Foraging/hunting for ingredients takes up sooooo much of your time, but you have to stick with the exact same stuff all year??? What role do seasons even play at that point? I'm definitely hoping this is just a biproduct of early access and not intended for the full release, because what a massive letdown. I forced myself to play a few days into my second season, but I'm done for now because it feels like a pointless grind. Like, what am I working this hard to gather these stupid ingredients for if they're just going to be the exact same next season? It really makes how barren Winter is supposed to be sound tedious and unenjoyable, rather than a challenge I'm excited to tackle. Your reward for getting through it is just... going back to how things are the rest of the time? Okay. Well, I don't want to.
I appreciate the devs' attempt to try something new with mining, but as it stands, it isn't much fun. If it ain't broke, don't fix it - just gimme a pickaxe and a hole, and I'll be happy.
I really love the art, and the characters have a lot of potential, but a lot of the design and writing aspects feel very......... young? The vibe is reminiscent of fanfiction written about adults, but you can tell it was written by a teenager, because, well, it's very much a child's view of adulthood. It doesn't help that multiple characters start out as the personification of the Gen Z Stare, including the town doctor, who looks, acts, and dresses like your friend's moody teenage sibling. Like, if I walk into a doctor's office, and the person charged with my care looks roughly fourteen, wears a hoodie and beanie to their *doctoring job*, and only speaks in snark, I'm just gonna figure out how to deal with my afflictions alone. Who put this white baby in charge? Impossibly few of the characters feel like real grown ups, at least in the stage of development, which makes it a little challenging to find an RO that appeals.
Chef RPG is fun for the most part, and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes! Unless the foraging remains static between seasons without significant changes - then I genuinely wouldn't pick it up again.
Like others have said.. TAKE IT SLOW if you choose to play this in early access.
There's not a lot of contents right now for the quests and storyline. I'm already at ACT 3 despite me taking it slow and only opening my restaurant on weekdays (now only few days) and gathering resources on weekends. It's too easy to make and hoard money.
Some things I like, I am a forager, hoarder, and a very cheap person LOL so I love going around collecting resources till my heart content. However, I need more variations on ingredients I can gather in different seasons. Fishing can totally be improved too to add more fishes and species. I like that you can choose the season to start in the beginning of the game to increase the difficulty. I chose Spring for my first game and since there's not much storyline or content, Summer and Fall might be slow-ish and boring now cause I'm already at ACT 3 by the beginning of Summer. I want to jump to Winter so I can challenge myself with limited ingredients and menu to run the restaurant.
HATE HATE HATE THE MINING SO SO MUCH!!! Definitely need a total overhaul. So slow, painful, limited ores per day (can go in and out and reset) but it's so sparse.
It's wayyyyy to easy to get gifts, it's kinda ridiculous, especialy after you unlock the gift thing in the skill tree. I end up with a bunch of clothes and stamina drinks I don't use. There's not much to do in the game (take it slow!!), so I don't even feel the need to bring consumables with me during the day. I end up spending more time in the restaurant working cause that's more enjoyable than exploring at this point in the game.
Lastly, I feel like there's a little too many mini games especially between running the restaurants and research. I dislike the research process, I rather purchase, wait for gifts, or discover the recipes by cooking myself. It's probably better to just have a research where we throw different ingredients and select cooking tools to discover new recipes like in Harvest Moon.
Can't wait to see where this game is going and how the final product will be. Hope the devs listen to our feedbacks and actively improve the game.
This is a fairly robust game. I have enjoyed running around and gathering ingredients and recipes. The mini games for the cooking are pretty fun and straight forward. The fishing mechanic is currently not good. However you can work around it by buying fish in the shop and by befriending a character. Once your relationships are sufficient, the different NPCS will offer better equipment for sale. The storyline is interesting and the game unfolds slowly getting you used to the mechanics.

I generally like this game and what it's trying to be. The story is interesting and the characters are...interesting as well. I like the map design of the town when compared to games like Stardew. But the game also has a lot of problems, and I'm going to list some of those here.
First of all, the money calculations make no sense at all. If you have a ton of seats with long service times and insufficient staff, you'll make a ton of money, but if you have good staff and low service times (no waiting), you'll make nothing, because for some reason, the effect of service level is vastly insufficient. Basically, I had a well-running restaurant, with 12 seats, 7 cooks, and 8 waiters. It was profitable at a rate of about 10k per shift on a 12 hour shift. Then I added one cook and one waiter, which should have further decreased service times and increased revenue, but instead, after a 10 hour shift, I ended up losing money. Contrary to this, my girlfriend who is also playing the game has 24 seats in her restaurant with the same number of waiters and cooks as I have (7 and 8), and her "orders" section is constantly stacked up, with very long wait times, and she makes 25k a day. So the math on this is very bad and makes no sense. It seems like you should basically just stack a ton of seats and not give a ♥♥♥♥ about your service quality at all if you want to make money.
Two, the game is super, super buggy. I've warped ahead 5 days in time, had tons of targeting issues (especially with crop watering), teleportation bugs, etc.
I think for right now -as of 5th March 2026, the latest major flavours update- I'd say maybe let the game cook a little more. Pun intended.
There's certainly potential for this game to be great. But like, considering it was released in 2024, it's two years since then and I'm about 80hrs deep into the game and it still feels like it's lacking a lot in terms of gameplay? That feels a little disheartening but I'm a fan of believing. plus, what's already there, the bit of the world you get to see, the character's (despite it being kinda weak sauce) motivations, the little town of White Ash Harbor with its various interesting people and hinted at past history, etc. *is* charming and lovely to experience.
[h3]Inventory Frustrations[/h3]
It seems so all over the place in terms of what it wants you to be able to do, yknow? It's like it's trying so hard to tick all the boxes that Stardew Valley/Harvest Moon did, so it wants you to be able to fish, mine and harvest your own stuff, combat via hunting your own meat ... and thats fine & cool but in terms of running a restaurant, is kinda unsustainable, imo?
Like, every gathering of plants in particular gets you maybe 5-10 units of X item. three of the foods you serve in your restaurant each uses 5 units of X. You're only able to gather maybe 40 of X in a day, and buy roughly 20-25 from the shops [i]IF[/i] they have it in stock that day. Alright, don't serve three things that use the same ingredient, you might argue but why is that the answer to this strange problem i've been thrown into?
And then while somethings are gatherable, other things you have to only buy and even then in such small quantities that it's a weird thing to be difficult to do in a game about running a restaurant? Like, yeah you have to be aware of your inventory before you open for business but this is kinda ridiculous.
And now, you can make your own cream/chocolate/cheese but still theres a limited number of milk you [i]can[/i] buy so it still doesn't help.
AND the gardening- if we're making gardening part of the game's cycle, [i]why[/i] is getting seeds for different plants so limited???? *insert cry laughing emotes here*
BAFFLING decisions i tell ya what.
[h3]Running the Restaurant[/h3]
I think it's also been mentioned by others but I'll mention again bc it's been TWO YEARS since this game was released (albeit in early access) that [b]you still cannot arrange or sort your staff into what roles they play[/b] in the restaurant. Hopefully I'm just ignorant about it being in the plans or development roadmap but this is like such a sad oversight. It's so unsystematic, we have waiters idling uselessly, we have chefs taking their sweet time getting to their stations, there is no way to cut down cooking time by say... prepping your ingredients before hand or something and not just the worker's stats.
TLDR, for the I AINT READING ALLAT folks:
This game has some features it sorely needs to be a good running a restaurant game. I understand its not a management sim but some fine tuning is important so the restaurant running isn't a minus to the game, considering its name and theme. Definitely let it pickle more or get it on sale.

Stardew shows you one cutscene, (unless you pick "Skip Intro") and throws you into the game to explore and FIND the other cutscenes.
this game throws you into about 500 cutscenes before you get the freedom Stardew Valley gives.
if you REALLY want that "Diner Dash" vibe WAAAAYYYYYYYY more than you want "Chill relax an run a restaurant" then youll be skipping hours of dialogue.
if you like that "small townfolk/personal connections" vibe. this game still may be for you, but not yet.
I do know they recently added a lot of dialogue BUT. in my 10 hours of playtime on 3 saves, one of them had already seen ALL OF the dialogue. that ONE SAVE i did that in btw, was probably 6 hours of playtime.
Of COURSE this is early access so things are to change, but one thing that is getting WORSE (imo) NOT BETTER... is the amount of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cutscenes. . . The most recent update added MORE CUTSCENES to the early game making it EVEN SLOWER!!!!
TL:DR; If you are willing to spend 10 hours in one save, you may get to the fun cooking bits. but you will exhaust all the dialogue of the NPCs.
If you want to read the dialogue and get immersed with the town. you have about 8 hours of gameplay before you are reading the same dialogue, and then you are just playing a cooking sim with chores.
To the dev mostly: I want MORE GAMEPLAY. more learning THROUGH gameplay. more TRUST in your players to experiment and ♥♥♥♥ around and talk to people. 2+ hours of a new save shouldnt feel like the most handholdy experience of my life. I brought up stardew earlier and how it basically just throws you in. "hey, you know this is a farming game. get to farming"
well... People are buying your game saying "Chef RPG". throw us into the "Chef" bit RIGHT AWAY!
You arent really incentivised to open your store till after the first week is done and everyone is done yapping your ear off, barely letting you experiment unless you ignore them.
TL:DR2; Just play stardew with some crazy cookie chef mod. You still cant run a restaurant, but it will be infinitely more fun than this. UNFORTUNATELY btw. i WANT chef RPG to be my preferred game.
This is my first pixel game since Pokémon, where I was really drawn to the art and the genre of management. Despite being an early access game the mechanics of story quests, festivals and managing the elements of the restaurant are enjoyable.
However, the daily quests could still be improved with possibly an arrow leading to the NPC quest giver, allowing us to ring a doorbell to get the package for delivery quests or using our mailbox as its quite hard to find a random stranger NPC. Furthermore, if the NPC is in a relationship restricted area. It would be hard to continue the quest.

I bought this game 3 days ago and I've been hooked since! I'm already on act 3 and it is similar to stardew,yes, but rather than being farming focused it has a lot more stuff you can occupy yourself with. I am an addict of farming sims and cooking sims etc and this game checks out all the thing I was looking for with a refreshing twist, so it doesnt' feel repetitive at all! Def recommend!

Updated review after 80+ hrs of gameplay:
-The more you play, the more problems you find.
-Tool upgrades shows up randomly, some of the better ones are locked behind festivals.
-HUGE PROBLEM: late game material (that is required to unlock the last batch of recipes) drops randomly from limited spawn points or random rewards from rare guests.
-A fully upgraded house still have a 32 space fridge.
-No inventory upgrade, you get 1 chest at home, and 1 town chest that require grinding.
-I finished the entire 3 act story before Fall is over.
-You get duplicate recipes.
-I once said it's nice to find a game that let you be an actual chef and not a miner/woodcutter. This was untrue. Late game is basically me running around grinding for resources while my restaurant is closed because I just don't have the time.
-I really dislike managing 2 locations without any quality of life help whatsoever.
-Even though you're a chef, you can't cook for your friend, and can't eat your own food for energy.
-Gameplay is geared toward expanding your restaurant as big as possible, with rank up requiring things like serving 2000+ guests. I would love to be able to freely run a smaller restaurant and still make profit.
Having said all those things, here are things I still like:
- The beautifully drawn seasonal environment. You will be in awe once winter come.
- The festivals are fun, unique, engaging and doesn't force you out of your routine.
- Amazing food sprites.
- Running the restaurant feels very good, the staffs and guests have dialogues that help make everything feel alive.
- Ambience and style. I love getting to purchase snacks and junk food for buffs.
it's not you its me? eh. i put off playing this for a long time because i'm one of the many who are put off by the sprites, but i've played many games where the art style isn't my vibe but the gameplay is great. this isn't it for me. hate the mini games.
I am so happy I spent money on this game.

The game is very fun and satisfying to play. The Devs seem to care the players and are consistently rolling out major updates and hot fixes. If you like management type games with a touch of rpg mechanics then definitely check this one out!
simplesmente obcecada, não ficava presa a um jogo dessa forma desde 2016 com Stardew Valley. no início fiquei meio desatenta pela falta de tradução, mas rapidamente o jogo me pegou e isso deixou de ser um problema, os pequenos bugs são irrelevantes em relação a complexidade do jogo, amo os mini games e as ilustrações são perfeitas, vale muito, amei nota 10.

Não tive problemas, bugs nem nada, mas meu caso não é geral e vi que tem muitas pessoas com problemas que precisam ser resolvidos.
Um ponto extremamente fraco, que pra mim é de se abaixar em 5 estrelas um jogo é: Não tem tradução em PT-BR. Joguei agora no evento da Steam MUITA demo, e 90% delas, mesmo bugadas e na demo, já tinham tradução pra muitos idiomas. Acho isso uma sacanagem, apesar de saber inglês, jogar um jogo na minha língua é se sentir pertencente dali, de alguma forma.
Fora isso, o jogo é deslumbrante, com diversas coisas a se fazer, e não são coisas fáceis (o que é maravilhoso, já que muitos jogos preferem facilitar a gameplay e você não se agarra ao jogo).
A jogabilidade, os gráficos, as artes, as mecânicas, tudo esta perfeito.
This game is insanely underrated for the amount of quality content it's offering. I intend to restart my playthrough soon, as there's been a ton of huge content updates! The fundamentals of the game, however, were solid from the start: I love the soundtrack, the visuals are unique and beautiful, the characters are really sweet, and the mechanics of running the restaurant are really addicting. The food looks scrumptious, and the minigames you play during restaurant hours are really fun, as well as optional if you're focusing more on service. I love the process of hunting and gathering for produce, as well as frequenting local shops, slowly building up your repertoire of delicious recipes and workstations. Realising you can serve more customers and hire more people without tanking your profits is super exciting, though it can be quite nail-biting to make sure you budget well enough to keep your menu and your staff working as they should! If you like Stardew or any game similar to it, you will LOVE this! I just can't wait for more content, though even now in Early Access, ChefRPG is a no brainer purchase. I hope World 2 Studio continue to work on this tremendous cosy RPG, and that they're able to make even more awesome projects. They have an immediate fan in me :D

This game is really fun! For a minor nitpick, it can be hard to save money in this game but it just might be my playing style. One major flaw that I've come across twice though, is that if you force close the game regresses back to some things. For example I conpleted a quest for the main storyline and when I logged back in I had to do the quest all over again even though I had the rewards from that quest. I also purchased a home a few days ago and I had to force close to get back an item I accidently lost. I logged back in and my house was boarded up again as if I never bought it. While I can get it back, it could be very annoying if not fixed. But other than that, awesome concept and story!
Love the game and how they're evolving. I cannot wait for what the future holds. Scratches that itch for a cozy sim game.

I want to love this game because it's beautiful, the soundtrack is great, the systems are all great and the art is outstanding but as it currently stands I cannot recommend it.
The control scheme when using a controller is absolutely horrendous, which also makes playing on the steam deck, which should be perfect (since it runs so well on it) an unplayable disaster. So I'll explain all the problems with it that I've encountered so far as it's not just one thing, it's more or less everything.
-There is no world in which navigating the menus should be done with the analogue stick, the d pad is what should be switched to automatically but instead I'm having to flick the stick over and over just to move, you can't even hold the stick in a direction to continuously move through options or items, so you're going to get fatigue from that alone.
-the mini games for cooking do not work right at all, when it tells you to press the directional buttons it doesn't work, you, again, have to use the analog stick and sometimes this actually makes it impossible to do. In fact even if the one mini game that is similar to Friday night funkin was moved to the d pad it would still be unplayable as some of them ask you to press both left and right at the exact same time and such, anyone who knows how controls work know that this is not how controllers work. I can understand that on keyboard is would be easy to press A and D at the same time but without adapting the mini game to recognise when it's a controller being used (which it is, as it's showing to use d pad buttons, not wasd, which is again not what it actually wants you to press) it will not function.
-Hunting is not possible. It claims that it wants you to hold R2 but it doesn't, it wants you to hold A to charge a shot, it wants you to do this while also moving around with the left analog stick and aiming with the right analog stick continuously micro adjusting. I do not have 3 arms and I don't want to crab claw every game I play. A simple solution would be to, well first of all make sure the controls it's asking you to press are correct in the first place and second, offering a lock on system similar to dark souls, where clicking the right stick locks on to the nearest target and flicking the stick in the direction of another target switches the lock on.
-Navigating sub menus in any context does not work right and I feel that it may be a result of the navigation being forced to the analog stick yet again. If I am in the skill menu and trying to go left to choose a different category that is a challenge itself, "left doesn't work, oh wait up worked, no.. no wait now I'm back in this skill tree and up isn't moving me back out, I know, I'll press B. Ah ha that worked, now I'll just flick down to choose that other category aaaand I'm back in this skill tree". It shouldn't be this difficult to leave a menu and choose something else.
It is also the same when viewing side quests in the notice board. Trying to switch between them is so difficult and trying to go UP to the close button you can almost forget about, it's also so easy to accidentally select the wrong quest because the default settings of the game has zero deadline and no way to change it, so I could finally get over the the one I want, press to accept it but before I've realised, it has flicked back left and selected that mission as I've released the analog stick. Seriously it needs to be possible to navigate menus with the d pad, because if you think all of that sounds bad.. imagine what it's like when it asks you to use the in game keyboard to write something...
Those are the main issues with controlling the game and they are genuinely enough to make the game impossible to play. There are other problems that could be addressed too, such as:
-having the option to select an empty slot in my tool bar so you don't accidentally swing a tool when you're trying to talk to someone as you weren't in the exact pixel perfect spot it demanded of you causing you to lose stamina
-not being able to talk to NPCs from any angle except directly in front of them in that very tiny spot,
-the lack of distinction between what you are currently hovering over in the menu in general, it needs some changes to show you're definitely hilighting something. This is an issue for many reasons, especially since you can't undo any choices like skill selection, quest selection and you aren't even asked "are you sure you want to quit?" If you accidentally press that. All it needs is a white border around it and for the colour to become saturated, currently it only becomes ever so slightly duller, and I mean slightly.
-The lack of zero accessibility controls for anyone who needs them, if it's hard for me to deal with some of these things I can only imagine someone who is colour blind just taking one look and never touching the game again.
-Having tools that you acquire be automatically be added to the toolbar would be extremely helpful and doesn't make sense why they don't already do that. Going back to what I said about being able to select an empty slot, why not just make it so that a button "sheaths"/equips the tool you are hovering over, it would save a lot of trouble and prevent issues if the bar is ever full of tools.
So yeah sadly I cannot recommend this to anyone in its current state as much as I would like to. Hopefully all of these issues will be addressed since even though the controller issues are definitely more of a major issue, the other issues are still major issues that make the game unplayable.
Very addictive game to get into, definitely reccommend if after a Stardew Valley like game revolved around owning and running a restaurant

This game scratches my exact itch for a greater focus on cooking in farming sims. The characters are all quirky and loveable, though some more development could be used to bring them even more to life. 10/10 already and I can't wait to see it become 11/10!

For me, it fell flat. I love stardew valley, travellers rest and grimshire. So im into these kinds of games.
i dunno, maybe that is was such a broad window on how to upgrade things, slow brewing process, research houses with more ingredients for me to farm each day to +2 all my food... Hard to get blueprints for recepies or better gear.. Like I said, a big broad window on how to upgrade so it just got lost to me.
It just didnt hit the spot with this one. Cant really put my finger on it. Therefore I will give it a thumbs up, because I know people can enjoy it, if they try it =)
SOOOOO COOL and refreshing
I like the game so far i love cooking games reminds me of stardew valley but resturaunt butttttttttt the fishing freaking sucks took me 30mins to an hour for me to even catch a fish... Please change that i would simply not want to stress over a fish it don't need to be that hard.
A decent game that I wish I liked more than I do. It has a lot of great stuff going for it, so I'm willing to chalk this up to a personal taste issue - to me, the gameplay loop is not as fun as I want it to be, but it's still been adequate for filling time.
I was quite enchanted with the beautiful pixel art. The creator is clearly not only a skilled artist, but very creative too. There are many scifi/futuristic elements that blend with the natural setting in a way that gives this game a unique identity, and the architectural designs are so artful.
The game is already very polished with lots of content. There's a lot to upgrade in the restaurant, house, and city, lots of content to unlock and progress through. Progression is very slow compared to a game like Stardew Valley, (Time moves much slower and upgrades have steep costs.)
The NPCs are fine - dialogue is decently written, interacting with them doesn't feel like a chore but it's definitely not the highlight of the game either. There is a large cast of named characters plus randomized NPCs that make the world feel alive. There are a few things that annoy me about the NPCs, though - It's obvious that they were designed by a straight guy who has a specific type, and that's domineering, bossy, rude women. All the single female NPCs are beautiful, cute, or sexy. The single male NPCs range from being a bit weird to downright gross looking. I don't care about marriage in games like this so I don't mind that much but I can see this being a downside for some players. But, honestly, the "hot b*tch" characters who are rude to you are a bit tiresome.
Again I'm going to compare this to Stardew Valley since it's obviously inspired by it, and almost everyone has played SV. This game is less whimsical, and it can also be a little blander. There are mines in this game but they are just a place to collect ores from the same respawning collection points, there is no danger posed by monsters and no way to progress/explore deeper, aside from unlocking a new area if you pay for it.
There is also less diversity as far as money-making activities. You can switch up what you're doing in SV all the time according to mood and season and those activities can still be profitable, but in this game running your restaurant is the only real way to make money. I found that running the restaurant is not all that engaging or rewarding. You really don't even have to participate if you have enough staff hired. You can just open the restaurant, let the NPCs run it while you do something in another window, and collect your paycheck at the end of the day. (You have to be inside the restaurant to run it so it can't generate income passively.) There's a limit on ingredients you can order for your restaurant so you're always going to have to buy in person from the town's vendors, or grow it yourself. That's fine but dealing with the supply chain issues is a bit of a headache. I wish there were more tools built into the game to show me exactly how much of X ingredient I need for all my dishes daily.
This game has a fishing minigame, several cooking minigames, hunting, crafting, crop growing in a greenhouse (although seeds seem hard to find) and a lot of other features that are honestly VERY well designed. The cooking minigames are optional and like anything they get boring fast if you do them all the time for an entire shift, but when you feel like doing them the option is there. All these peripheral features are great, and I was surprised by how much content there is in an EA title like this, the only problem for me is that the core gameplay (working in the restaurant) just isn't quite what I wanted.
So, i found this game on the Internet rec, and fell in love with it immediatley!
1. Despite some comments I DO love all heroes and their portraits, i dont think they're ugly or something. They and the whole art-style, theme and setting are one the main reasons i even decided to buy this game.
2. I saw many ppl saying how sad and weak all the romance system, Also do not agree. For the EA 2024 game the system is cool and nice. I do comprehand and explore NPCs characters, i love their stories already. Idk how others, but I can see and understand a lot from conversations and quests with them. There are still a lot to do, like lines and bugs (didn't see any, but some reported). I like how unique their houses are, how nice and sweet our conversations with them on our dates.
3. The main cooking gameplay also AMAZING, but I feel that you can develope your resto quite too quick at the very beginning? Or maybe its just me. I love how can we stay at resto, helping our staff, also working. Also the skills various system of our hero is quite a thing to play with :)
4. The development of the city also cool and unique feature, that works well.
5. The nature, events and fetes are on TOP, I love this mini-game with NPCs in the Spring festival!
Also, i do love how can we chose our resto menu vegan, meat or etc, also a type of resto.
There are some bugs (i faced only with one and it disappeared itself LoL, but maybe in community we can see some more info) We do need to remember that the game is really YOUNG and that the group of guys, who created this mega cool game are NOT the big corp company or anything. so the development will need time.
I just wanted to express all my support and positive emotions about this game.
This game is so great! I am completely addicted to the game loop. Forage and hunt all day, cook all evening and rush to head to bed. There is so much to do and it is just super fun! I can't wait to see what else gets added!!!

It's hard for me to get sucked into most single player games due to the way that they can feel like they're forcing you down a path "you must play this way." Chef RPG even as an early access game at the moment was such a pleasant and refreshing find for me. Finally, I found a game that I wake up and think about. It has me thinking about the direction I want to take my restaurant whether it's a small volume, few seat restaurant or a high volume basic dish pizza joint. I feel free to be creative and the RPG elements perfectly tucks in my love for MMO-RPGs in a single player game. Gather or buy your ingredients - run a steakhouse or a full vegan restaurant - master a few recipes or offer a big menu to your customers - run a vending machine empire - or just relax with your friends, fish, and romance it up.
I can't upvote this game enough, and I can't wait for more updates in the future. I'm hoping that the devs will push the RPG elements and the freedom playstyle that'll keep me playing this game. Very cozy, 10/10

This game is such a refreshing blend of RPG and life sim elements that scratches the same itch that Stardew Valley does. As someone who really digs both of these genres, it is very exciting to find a new outlet for my addiction.
Upon completing 4 hours of playtime, I can confidently say that I will be putting so much more into this game. I am looking forward to future updates!! :)

Omg I'm obsessed!! This is the closest thing to Stardew Valley while also feeling very original. I love the cooking aspect and the fact that I grind for ingredients instead of wood, stone, etc like most games that are this style. I also love the management aspect of running the restaurant and the option to auto cook or play the mini games depending on how I'm feeling. I am slowing down on the main story quest because I don't want to finish it yet!!! Highly recommend!!!!

Chef RPG is a mix of Traveler's Rest and Stardew Valley (yes, I know every cozy life sim game with farming, romance, combat, etc. gets compared to it, but that isn't a bad thing in my eyes because I love SV). It offers a unique world setting where you can play as either a human or an android. It does make a difference. Humans get more social buffs while androids get more endurance buffs. While the gameplay loop is nice and relaxing, there are some things I can't really get past at this time.
[u]Pros[/u]:
✓ Art style is unique and fine to look at. The locations and overall atmosphere are pretty.
✓ The cooking mechanics are fun and the minigames add to the challenge.
✓ Running your restaurant is probably the most fun part of the game (which should be a given since it is centered around you being a chef). Being able to hire a ton of employees as you expand the size of La Sequoia is a plus.
✓ The story quests are really intriguing and reveal a lot about your character's past. I am pretty invested in it.
✓ I like being able to hunt for meat to put in your dishes. The hunting mechanic is rather smooth and easy to get used to. (The elk scare me).
✓ The decorations, furniture, clothing, etc. are all extremely cute and cool. I'm not at the stage where you can purchase a house yet, but I can't wait to be able to customize my home.

×I don't like how certain ingredients and supplies cannot just be produced by us. Please let me make traps to catch shrimp and scallops. Let me make my own chocolate. Make it so more of the ingredients are able to be crafted and my life is yours.
× Not a huge fan of the sprite art. It's a tad... rough. It just isn't my cup of tea. The character designs try to be whimsical and only succeed in some areas. A lot of them lack cohesiveness. The only primary characters I really like design-wise are Hasel, Milo, Aloys, Thelio, Koa, Anna-May, Mae-Lou, and Valentina. Everyone else just looks somewhat off to me.
× The romance candidates are moot at this stage of the game, and there truly is no point in pursuing it right now. Even if there's an option to date them, you can get rejected for some reason. The game isn't clear on telling you what to do. Even after the dates, that's it. I'm sure there'll be more later. Also, some characters (like Hasel and Milo) repeat the exact same dialogue after Act 1 after you've talked to them a lot.
× Some of the cooking minigames are buggy. For the stove, no matter how perfectly you time the first click (when you press the 'X' button), you always a 'Good' score. You can only get a 'Perfect' if you actually hit the interact button late. For the mixing table, I ALWAYS miss the first click when you move to the cocktail shaker stage; no matter how perfectly I time it. It never counts it.
× I REALLY do not like the mining aspect of the game. The drill tool is a pain to use and it glitches out a lot -- it will be equipped in my hotbar, but when I use it, the tool isn't visible in my hands. It'll make me think I'm drilling but after clicking the target multiple times it will never mine the ore until I switch tools and then equip the drill again. On top of that, it would be nice if ore regenerated daily. Or at least have more areas for each type of ore. I don't like having to wait 1-2 days in-game for it to come back.
× The research facility is a nice idea, but it's so boring. It feels like a waste of time and ingredients. You have to sacrifice 5 ingredients and then rinse and repeat a mini game every time to level up your research. You can also only choose one type of area of expertise (i.e. BBQ, veggies, or baking). If you rebuild it to a different one, it doesn't warn you that all your buffs will be gone for the one you chose. I feel like there should be a progression timeline where you can unlock buffs for all of the food categories. Just make it take a long time to do so.
× There is a cap on how high you can level up, meaning you are soft-locked out of acquiring all skills in the current skill trees. These are also necessary to unlock specific achievements. You can reset and reallocate your skill points, but it has a 4-day in-game cooldown. This becomes tedious and annoying pretty fast.
× After exhausting all romanceable / friend NPC dialogues, they become generic, repetitive, lifeless cardboard cutouts. The letters you receive from them in the mail are all the same as one another. None of them are unique to each character. I immediately skip and toss each letter at this point.

I'll most likely change my review to a positive one once there are more fixes and QOL updates because I really do enjoy this game. But with the state it's in right now, I don't think I can confidently recommend it. I wish I had more nice things to say about it, but I genuinely cannot think of anything.
