Квест, от первого лица, с лавкравтианскими мотивами.
Игра мне понравилась, во-первых, тем, что она не особо страшная. Тут нет скримеров и каких-то отвратительных зрелищ (есть пара неприятных флешбеков, но они терпимые). Есть конечно довольно тягостная атмосфера и мрачная неопределенность. Но в целом, активно нас никто не пугает, и героиня большую часть времени пребывает на позитиве (достаточно идиотском, на мой взгляд. Весть о первой смерти члена экспедиции ее глубоко расстраивает - А ты чего ожидала?? С другой стороны, позже по сюжету мы понимаем что героиня не воспринимает остров как опасный и узнаём почему).
Мне очень понравилась картинка - яркие, масштабные, цветущие джунгли, огромные храмы и прочее. Птички, реки, рыбки. Все очень красиво!
Также мне понравились загадки. Я смог их все разгадать сам, хотя с парочкой уже готов был сдаться, но решение пришло. Как раз тот уровень сложности, какой надо!

Мне НЕ понравилось, что ближе к концу приключения прирешении загадок надо много бегать туда-сюда, надо все время жать соответствующую кнопку. А просто ходит героиня неспешно.
Других претензий у меня нет, хорошая сказка получилась, на пару-тройку вечеров.

Beautiful adventure. Really interesting and emotional story. Lots of walking around, looking at the gorgeous views, finding things and solvings puzzles. No attacking or defending. Highly recommend :)

What a delight game, the story kept me playing non stop. I played on PC with a controller but for some reason I didn't like to play it with mouse and keyboard. I think I got 95% of the game puzzles, the 5% I checked online, because I didn't understand how to pass it(until I read it). I hope you can enjoy it as I did!

i bought this as a simple, linear puzzler to relieve the stress of the gambling game disguised as a puzzler, blue prince. call of the sea was fun enough chapters 1-3, just long enough to get past that refund window (i afk a lot so my playtime is probably half what steam says).

the story is quite white savior-y, borders on disrespect towards polynesian culture (not my place to say), and follows the general story of Aryanism, a nazi belief system (blonde haired, blue eyed people are actually a master race of ... aliens? here, fish people). also why does this married couple refer to each other almost exclusively as "old chap"? weird, cringe writing but easy enough to ignore.

the character movement is nauseating. you're able to turn off headbobbing (very sad her mysterious illness seems to cause tremors), but the character momentum also has you skating around as if every surface is ice and your feet are perpetually damp.

towards the end of chapter 4, there was a puzzle that made no sense to me, to multiple guides i found, to seemingly anyone except one reddit commenter who was able to break down the logic. it turned out to be fairly simple once the red herrings were dismissed. after this, it's clear the development of the game was rushed or given up on. the next puzzle was a quick game of simon says. i lost trust in the puzzles after that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ one, and frankly feel deceived by the team. it is unfortunately common that indie games are only fun for the first 2 hours of gameplay, the exact refund window. i only paid $5, so i'll finish the game. but i can't recommend it to anyone else.

Una aventura gráfica deliciosa. Con un bello apartado gráfico y una música espectacular (mención especial a la canción de los créditos finales). Quizás demasiados puzzles repetidos y poca interacción con el entorno, pero vamos lo suple con una preciosa y misteriosa historia. Creo que en mi larga trayectoría como fan incondiconal de Lovecraft, es la primera vez que me maravillo en positivo con el "horror cósmico" presentado en esta hermosa, misteriosa y terrible isla. En fin, no puedo dejar de recomendarlo, tanto si eres fan del Lovecraft, amante de las aventuras gráficas, o simplemente quieres pasar un buen rato con una muy buena historia.

Игра казалась довольно многообещающей, особенно учитывая, что я очень люблю интересные сценарии и головоломки, но не люблю одиночные хорроры с врагами, погонями и нервирующей атмосферой. Купила, начитавшись отзывов, но как же игра меня разочаровала. Управление довольно топорное, надо пылесосить все углы, но записки/фото/дневники дают не особо много информации, они повторяют сами себя. Но главный поджигатель нервов - загадки. В моем понимании идеальный баланс между загадками и подсказками - это Резиденты, там не подсказывают в лоб, но при этом по найденным запискам можно понять, что делать с очередным механизмом, что искать и как взаимодействовать. А тут либо гайды читать либо рандомно крутить/нажимать все подряд, никто вам объяснять как эти мудреные механизмы работают, не будет. Хз, баг это или прикол игры, но в какой-то момент я психанула, решила финальную загадку по гайду, но тк героиня что-то там вовремя не зарисовала у себя в дневнике, ничего не произошло и я тупо застряла в конце 3й главы, потому что возвращение к месту для зарисовки ничего не дало. Есть индюшатина гораздо лучше.

Well. It is a walking simulator with some small puzzles.
They are usually ok, except from that
[spoiler]weird quadrants
[/spoiler] puzzle, that I had NO IDEA how to solve, though I tried my best.

The story is quite nice and it is coming at a nice pace. I think that it would benefit from a quicker movement speed, but it also ties to the story, so I can forgive it.

The graphics are fabulous! I liked all the scenes, even the weird ones.
Give it a go if you are thinking about it, you are not going to regret it.

Ótimo jogo! Tranquilo, puzzles bastante criativos, nada muito difícil infelizmente, mas muito bem feitos. A direção de arte de jogo é um destaque à parte, MUITO bonita. A história por si só também é bem intrigante, e a ambientação funciona bem num geral.

É uma pena que o jogo tenha sido meio "esquecido" e um dos bugs de configuração que parece ter surgido na época do lançamento acabou não sendo corrigido: as opções de configurações gráficas não são aplicadas devidamente. Além disso, tive uns probleminhas de performance, mas não acredito que seja o padrão.
Em alguns poucos momentos o level design também é um pouquinho frustrante. Tem muita parede invisível que te impede de ver certos detalhes do cenário mais de perto. Sei que é uma limitação de desenvolvimento, mas acho que em alguns pequenos setores dava pra colocar a tal parede invisível um pouquinho mais pra frente 😅. E tem algumas partes que a câmera te trava num ângulo fixo pra mostrar alguma animação importante no cenário, e acho que seria mais legal se desse pra sair e ver a animação de perto também.
Enfim, nada que faça a experiência não valer a pena.

No geral, é bem linear e a maioria dos puzzles são fáceis, mas da pra se envolver bastante com o jogo mesmo assim, pelos pontos altos dele.

Classic case of never hearing the phrase "Show, don't tell". Had to turn subtitles off and mute the game for the outspoken "inner monologue" mouth diarrhrea.

Overstays it's welcome and becomes a series of chores. Very clear, very early how the story will progress and end. No mysticism and barely scraping the Lovecraftian feel. Oh, black ichor, oh "there's sum'thing in tha wataah". Some glowy beady eyes and that about does it.

Also... Steam/// Where is the damn NEUTRAL button. It's not a negative, neither a positive. It's meh...

Un juego precioso, tanto en lo visual y sonoro, como en lo narrativo. Algún que otro puzzle se me atragantó, pero la mayoría me gustaron bastante. La actriz de voz hace un trabajo excepcional, y se palpa el amor y la pasión en cada palabra. La historia me ha parecido enormemente conmovedora, y, como persona que enfermó estando en una relación, me sentí bastante identificado con su protagonista, Norah, y su viaje (y el de Harry, su marido, cuyo actor está también magnífico). Mención también para la banda sonora, muy hermosa, y de la que poca gente habla. Y no voy a esconder que me tuvo llorando con su final, que es especialmente emotivo y desgarrador.

Además, fue toda una sorpresa descubrir que ha sido desarrollado por un estudio español. Con muchas ganas de que su secuela esté a la altura, especialmente en su historia y cómo la cuenta.

En definitiva, una experiencia preciosa, con el misterio, la fantasía y el amor como protagonistas ❤️

Wir wollen unseren Ehemann und dessen Expedition auffinden, weil dieser sich seit geraumer Zeit nicht mehr bei uns hören lassen hat. Kaum auf der Insel angekommen, stellen wir fest das es sich bei dieser Insel & dessen Bauweise um eine Alte Zivilisation handeln muss. Was geht hier vor sich & können wir unseren Mann Harry finden?

[h1] Gameplay [/h1] Das Spiel ist in 6 Kapitel + Prolog aufgeteilt. Jedes Kapitel ist recht Überschaulich gehalten. Wir laufen in der Egoperspektive durch die einzelnen Level Abschnitte, sammeln allerhand Hinweise zu Rätseln & zur Expedition unseres Mannes ein. Jedes Kapitel hat meist 2 Rätsel die man lösen muss um weiter voran zu kommen. Die Rätsel sind gut gemacht und nie wirklich schwer. Man muss hier und da mal kurz überlegen aber sie sind im allgemeinen gut lösbar mit Hilfe des In Game Tagebuchs was unser Charakter Norah mit sich führt und regelmäßig updatet. Die Voice Actress für Norah macht einen sehr guten Job. Die Deutsche Text Übersetzung ist gut gelungen

Well I thought what a cute little game. Should be a nice chill and relax puzzle solving game. I played a few and was looking forward to this one. The major flaw too many puzzles come with zero explanation or hints about what the objective is. First few puzzles where a no brainer, but instead of building it up steadily the game ramps it up. Looking at some comments I would almost feel stupid, no the games are not genius level but even a genius needs some objective or explanation of a puzzel. So instead of enjoying all the beauty it got me irritated a few times.

Would I recommend it yes, visually it looks stunning, Guess I'm not a genius and I don't mind looking up some answers, simply cause I ain't got the time.

Not a fan, waste of money to me.

The Player Character talked way too much to the point it got on my nerves in the first 5 minutes alone. The way she speaks is weird, as if talking to herself pretending to talk to another person. You're just walking around not being allowed to think for yourself as this woman is giving away all clues to the puzzles and lore. I never thought I'd say there wasn't enough voice acting in a game, but this game overdid it. The voice acting wasn't good either, as she switches between emotions and states of mind at the drop of a hat, as well as not sounding natural in the slightest.

The story didn't grip me whatsoever. I felt no connection to any of the characters we are introduced to through the awful internal monologue throughout the game. The visual storytelling was just some set pieces here and there in the chapters, but, like I said before the PC just narrates it so there is no mystery or thinking to do for yourself. What isn't narrated, you can find in your journal, but good luck reading that, because while texts from photos and interactibles have a "read" overlay, your journal does not. And that handwriting is pretty tiresome to decrypt, especially without a zoom function.

The store page summary promises stunning visuals. The colors and lighting is nice, and the style has it's upsides too. However when you start paying attention, you'll notice that while the environment is abundantly dressed, it clearly was done in such an excessive manner that placement of objects, plants, etc., was done without care. I very often found things in the environment clipping into one another. An electricity cable moving through solid rock, grass growing in stone, moving platforms moving through one another. The two that bugged me the most were at the boat section. The giant squid animation is sloppy, it just pivots like a bad ms paint animation, where it's bottom half of it's body just comes up out of the water. And finally when the boat lands at the bottom of the stairs, it's front goes into the stairs, before doing a stiff 90 degree turn to "dock".

The puzzles weren't challenging, save for the one. and there were so very few of them, I don't know how this has the "puzzle" tag. Every chapter is just 1 or 2 puzzles, and there's only 6 chapters.
The puzzles can be solved like this by the way:
1. Look around and interact with environment first.
2. puzzle is pretty much solved by the PC in the journal.
It's kind of ridiculous I buy a PUZZLE game for 20 bucks and finish it within almost 6 hours, 2 of which I had forgotten I had started it up and many more minutes of me walking away to regather my patience.

I found I frequently had to take breaks because I would get annoyed with the fact you walk at a snails pace and the level design is pretty linear that typically loops back on itself for easy access... sometimes, but getting from point A to B feels like it takes ages. Then there's the unskippable animations when you pick up a letter of your husband we're supposed to care about, as well as the swim sequence and the boat ride that just drag the whole thing out longer than it needs to. Another thing about level design was the janky collisions while navigating the island. Very hard to tell what ledge you can walk over and which one you can't.

If you're a fan of puzzles, don't get this.
If you're a fan of visuals, get it, but squint while playing.
If you think Twilight was a good love story, this is for you.

Most importanly though, play it muted.

I liked the story, the art, and the voice acting, but the puzzle and exploration gameplay is just not great.

Most of the puzzles are so easy that you can solve them quickly by just trying every solution. You can easily miss hints scattered around and still progress, which is not satisfying as a player.

The other issue is the polar opposite where you occasionally reach a puzzle and the game leaves you with you no idea what it's even asking for. Just a few things you can press with zero dialogue, and the game gives you no feedback when you press anything until the correct solution is entered. I very rarely ever encounter a puzzle in a game that makes me go, "So what is even the objective here?" And the fact that this happened at least 5 times in this one game is abysmal.

Начну свой обзор с сожалений о том, что раньше не прошла эту игру! Незаслуженно забыта в моём списке желаемого, наконец-то я её прошла и я не могу перестать думать о ней. Это первая игра, для которой я купила артбук и саундтрек.
Отличная история, сильная любовь, постепенно раскрывающиеся тайны острова...
Если вы любите тайны, загадки и паззлы - эта игра для вас. Головоломки здесь в целом легкие, особенно если пользоваться внутриигровым журналом. Но будут и такие, которые вам не удастся пройти с 1 раза.
Я хочу возвращаться в этот мир ещё и ещё. Прошла, перепрошла, возвращалась ещё несколько раз в разные главы. Пересмотрела концовку раз 10, ПЛАКАЛА каждый раз от обеих концовок. Песня Dear Old Pal вообще легендарная в исполнении Норы и Генри, выучила наизусть. Мне мало этого мира, я хочу больше таких историй и жду выхода Call of the Elder gods.

Got this game on a whim but it was very much worth the money. The puzzles are artistically put together and it heavily encourages exploration and testing pattern recognition. There were some puzzles where it was simple and straight forwards and there were others where I had to take my time to figure them out. Overall, it's a great blend between easy and challenging, and does a really good job to keep the player in the loop of what's happening in the story. 8/10, would reccomend for other people wanting starter, solo, puzzle games to get into.

What a beautiful story, odd to say about something clearly and I must say brilliantly Lovecraftian. At it's heart it is a mystery adventure.. And a love story. Oh the Cosmic horror is all there and right on point, but in the truest manner. No jump scares or even really any scares.. Just the clear message that you and everyone, everything you know is made small and meaningless in the face of the cyclopean discoveries of this strange island. In the end the only anchor is love, and what that means itself is left to us at the end to decide. Truly beautiful. Thank you for making this, not another like it.

This game is awesome! There's nothing better than an adventure game set on a mysterious island filled with puzzles and hints left by vanished members of an expedition. I loved following Harry's path, piecing together information about the culture on the island and the fate of the expedition and therefore learning what's happening with Norah (even though I suspected early on, I caught a lot of Innsmouth references). If you love Lovecraftian horror but don't want to get truly scared when playing, this game is for you.
I really liked how closely "Call of the Sea" is connected to Lovecraft's book, but still tells its own suspenseful story.

[h1]A wonderfully emotional story with puzzles that are better than you think.[/h1]

I think this game is best played without ANY story spoilers, so I'll avoid talking about that, except to say that the type of story it turned out to be was a pleasant surprise. The contrast between the general tone of the art and music and the subject matter hit a note I never expected. Worth checking out just for that.

The format is slow-paced first person exploration, journal collecting, and puzzle solving. Exploration is not very deep - although there are branching paths, there is no sense of decision making as you have to visit every area of the game to progress through it all. Sometimes there's some backtracking, which can be a bit of a drag. At the end of the day, it feels slow and linear - which is fine, as long as you know what you're getting into and are okay with soaking in a mood.

The puzzles snuck up on me. At first they are very simplistic which made me think that they would be just "filler", something to give you a break from wandering around reading journals. As the game goes on, you won't find anything that requires genius level IQ - but puzzles do become increasingly more involved and I found myself having to really pay attention to what was being asked of me, and really having to do the work. I felt smart by the end, which is what I am after from a puzzle game.

The presentation is absolutely delightful. Voice acting is excellent, and I really appreciate the direction. The performers (at least in English) were given license to ad lib their lines a little; often diverging from the written text (which you see in the captions) to make their lines sound more natural. To my taste, this was a big success. The voiced characters, particularly the protagonist, are very believable and sympathetic. The visuals are sumptuous and inviting, and to me simply looking around the setting was a joy all its own. Music is sparse and low key, setting a mood of solitude and beauty.

The story, again not to spoil anything, drew me in, in some ways serving my expectations and in other ways completely defying them. To be blunt, I loved it. I won't forget it any time soon.

I was extra slow, taking 7½ hours to complete the story where most people take more like 5. I guess I was extra thorough in combing through areas, and probably dumber than most when it came to solving the puzzles. I used walkthroughs twice - once because I got impatient with a puzzle (I was thinking backwards - the answer was so simple I was ashamed of myself for looking it up), and another time I was stuck because I had simply overlooked a path in a large area. In any case, those 7½ hours were definitely well spent, particularly because of the story.

If you just want mindbreaking puzzles or a video game twitch challenge, maybe this isn't for you. If you want escalating puzzles that will stretch your brain a little as you explore a beautiful environment and increasingly compelling story, give this a try.

3/5 stars. I recommend this game as it has some cool elements in it. It has a compelling story. I really want to delve into it, but that would call for spoilers. It is very linear, but it has good music, pretty graphics, the voice acting is decent. Mechanics are pretty good. I encountered some glitches, and a big bug which I thought I wouldn't be able to get past. I wish I could add photos to this... Basically let the areas load in before moving or you could find yourself falling through the world. I semi-enjoyed the puzzles. I thought they were fascinating, but sometimes I would get really stuck and found myself looking through walkthroughs. Be prepared to do some exploring for some of the puzzles. All in all, I would say I recommend.

この作品にはホラー系のタグはついていませんが、結構気味の悪い演出が頻繁に出てきます。
あと、一人称視点なので酔いやすい人はまぁまぁ酔います（特に梯子移動がキツい）。
また、ストーリーの核心部分が[spoiler]宇宙の神や古代文明や異種族[/spoiler]といった、所謂スピ系の人が大喜びしそうな要素満載なので、その時点で結構人を選ぶと思います。
辻褄が合っているようで合っていない、なのに合っている気にさせる。
そういった妙な説得力というか魔力のような強引さを面白いと感じるか、それともナンセンスだと感じるか、それによって評価が二分するだろうなと思います。
謎解きに関しては、簡単すぎないけれど解けたとてさほど感動もしないものばかりで正直物足りませんでした。
移動はとにかく遅いのと視点が揺れるのが結構ストレスでした。
唯一素直に良いなと思えたのはキャストの演技が素晴らしかったことです。
総評としては、おすすめはしないがセールで３桁になってたら暇つぶしに買っても損はないかなという感じです。

Call of the Sea is a beautiful and atmospheric puzzle adventure. Visually it’s stunning, even on older hardware, with colorful environments and a mysterious island that immediately draws you in. The sound design and music also help create a very immersive atmosphere.

The puzzles are one of the game’s strongest points. They feel logical and fair, and I never had the feeling that I needed to look up solutions. Most of the time the clues are there if you pay attention to the environment and the notes you find along the way.

The story is interesting as well, especially if you enjoy Lovecraftian themes and mysterious lost expeditions. I found the beginning particularly engaging, when the game slowly reveals what might have happened on the island and to the expedition members. Towards the end the pacing felt slightly weaker for me, as some sections became a bit repetitive, but I was still curious to see how Nora’s story would conclude.

Overall, it’s a relatively short but very enjoyable experience with great atmosphere, solid puzzle design, and an intriguing mystery. Definitely worth playing if you enjoy narrative puzzle adventures.

I originally picked up Call of the Sea because it promised a Lovecraftian story, and I absolutely adore Lovecraft. Usually those kinds of stories give me that familiar excitement of uncovering strange, insidious lore, or that philosophical pit in my stomach that cosmic horror does so well, but this game hit me with something deeper than that.

What surprised me most was how much I cared about the main character. Her love for her husband and the love he clearly has for her is the emotional core of the entire game. Despite the fact that we never even see him in person, his presence is felt throughout the story in such a powerful way, this game is honestly a masterclass in environmental storytelling.

And what a beautiful environment it is!!! The landscapes are absolutely gorgeous, especially in the later chapters, and the art direction makes every area feel carefully crafted and meaningful.

The plot twist near the end made me feel emotions I really didn’t expect from this type of game, and the final choice carried so much weight. I genuinely felt like there wasn’t a “correct” answer. So many games with multiple endings have a clear right choice and a few lesser ones just to give the illusion of choice, but here I felt completely conflicted... and that’s the mark of great storytelling!!!

I ended up replaying the final chapter to see the other ending, and honestly both of them were satisfying in that solemn, bittersweet way.

I haven’t even talked about the puzzles yet. Most of them are really well designed and satisfying to solve. There was only one puzzle near the end that felt a bit tedious, but overall they were excellent. The voice acting is phenomenal as well especially the lead performance and I’m very happy the end credits song is on Spotify so I can listen to it over and over again lol.

I also love that they worked with the Call of Cthulhu TTRPG to create a campaign based on the game. I’ll definitely be checking that out!!!

Anyway, I actually cannot recommend this game enough.

Parts of me really enjoyed this game. It was one of my first entries into story-based puzzle game and I was intrigued by the art style and plot.

Overall, I'd give Call of the Sea a 6.5/10.

PROS
Art style-the style of the game is very enjoyable as a backdrop when working out the various puzzles of the games.
Voice Acting-top tier voice acting. Even when the game made the audio hints a little too obvious for me, I still enjoyed it since the protags voice was really nice.
Puzzles-overall the puzzles were good. A balance of semi-difficult to semi-easy was a nice pace for the story to still holds its own. There were some puzzles were the reason was not clear within the in-game hints or other thought process with the rest of the puzzles within the game, but maybe it was a me thing.

CONS
Movement: The speed at which Norah walks, even when "sprinting" is MADDENING. I don't need to zoom around everywhere, but for the puzzles where I have to walk back and forth or up and down a structure, it was very frustrating.

The plot: At first the plot kept me guessing, but the big "surprise" was pretty obvious pretty early on. Wish this would have been something drawn out a bit more for the player.

Puzzles: I did say the puzzles were overall a pro, but the ones that were bad were extremely frustrating. And not in a normal puzzle way. In a " where in the game would have I gotten that" sort of way. I say this because one of the first big puzzles of the game, I had to look up what to do, because the solution was a "common sense" solution, and not an audio of visual clue lot the majority of the rest of the game that followed.

Unsure if I would recommend this game. There were parts I really liked! But again, the stuff that was a turn-off were a major turn-off.

O jogo é super gostosinho, o tempo de cada capitulo, a história que você vai descobrindo através dos documentos que a Norah acha pela ilha, tudo isso traz uma atmosfera muito boa.

Os visuais são lindos, volte e meia eu ficava parada em algum canto pra apreciar e tirar print. Os puzzles são bem difíceis, alguns eu tive que procurar como resolvia porque não conseguia entender.

No geral, o jogo é ótimo, valeu a pena cada hora jogada.

주어진 상황을 추리해서 어떻게 풀어야 하는가 고민하는게 아닌,
'뭐 어쩌라고' 싶은 막막함입니다

이동 속도라도 조금 빨랐으면 다시 전으로 돌아가
단서를 다시 확인해보겠는데
주인공 노라가 몸이 아프다는 설정 때문인지 달리기를 못합니다
수영을 하게 되면 더더욱 느려지니 많이 답답합니다

다행이 수첩에 자동으로 단서를 적어주니 참고해가면 되겠는데
어떤 단서는 그 답을 고스란히 적어주기도 하니 아 이것도 참 아쉽습니다

진짜 다른거 말고 딱 이동 속도만 어떻게 해줬으면 도전과제까지 싹 밀고 싶은데
게임을 다시 켜기도 전에 피곤함이 느껴져서 그냥 그만 하려고 합니다

정말정말 공들여서 잘만든 게임이라는 것이 느껴져서 추천은 눌렀지만
솔직히 이거 살 바엔 다른 방탈출 게임 사는 것을 더 권하고 싶습니다..

This is truly a fantastic game. If you’re looking for a chill, atmospheric, Lovecraft-inspired puzzle experience, this is absolutely worth playing. It’s visually stunning, engaging, and overall just a joy to experience. I highly recommend it to any puzzle game fan. The puzzles are fairly approachable until the later stages, where they become more challenging, but it’s completely worth it. The chapter select feature is also a great addition, letting you revisit your favorite areas or achievement hunt.

I really wanted to like this game but the first 20 or so minutes did it for me.

I like how the game looks but for some reason when I was playing there was this weird affect in which it would flash lights (i don't think it was intentional) and it was beginning to make me mad.

That and the constant stream of comments from the character lead me to wanting to refund it.

This game is fantastic. Truly, on so many levels.

First and foremost - the visuals. The artwork is PHENOMENAL, I love this style so much. I took my time appreciating the environments and props. Everything is really well done, the design of everything, from big to tiny, is meticulous.

The voice acting is superb. Those of you who played Firewatch might recognize the charming Delilah's Cissy Jones as the player character Norah, and she is fantastic as always. Yuri Lowenthal also brings the goods.

The story itself is very intriguing, although if you've read some Lovecraft or are familiar with his universe, you probably won't be surprised by most of the twists. Still, they're effectively done, and I loved the ending and the direction the story took. There are still a plot-hole here and there, but nothing too big as to ruin the experience.

The puzzles can be HARD! took me quite a while to solve a few of them, and I resorted to a walkthrough more than once. Might be impatience, might be that I just truly wouldn't have gotten what they were going for. On any case, I still rarely felt frustration.

Very highly recommended for adventure and puzzle lovers. I've read there's gonna be a sequel - looking forward to it!

I just 100% this game and this was a really wounderful experience. The graphic of the game is really great , the controlls is a bit weird in the begining but that's just because I am used to closing things with "ESC" and I would have wanted a toggel for runing, but other then that it's perfect! For me, some puzzelse flew over my head and some of them was the perfect challanag so that is really great. The story is really addictiv and makes you WANT to find and read everything! It is very beautiful and you experience a lot of emotions. It made me think a lot and some of the quots really stuck with me, "In real life, true love stories don't end with a weddin. They end with a funeral". Happyness is tempoerery and everything ends in death. So take care guys!

Fantastica avventura in prima persona, era nella mia watch list da un po', e finalmente ho avuto il tempo di recuperarla.
Con 6/7 ore si riesce a fare un gameplay al 100%, raccogliendo tutte le pagine del diario e trovando tutti gli oggetti nascosti (non sono tanti, tranquillo).
La trama è accattivante, la musica ben scritta e il gameplay loop un classico di un'avventura in prima persona. L'unico difetto che ho riscontrato, è che a volte mi sarebbe piaciuto muovermi un po' più velocemente.

I love you Out of the Blue games. You had me with American Arcadia so I decided to try Call of the Sea too and boy, this was so better.

It took me longer than normal to solve the puzzles and not because it was hard. It was because the visuals were so good AND the puzzles were harder personally. That still did not take away from the story of Norah and Harry. Jealous of their romance I still continued and the Lovedraft-esque theme for the creatures made it absolutely stunning for the water sections.

Hope you all watch the play through for this game as it is an amazing journey. I shall eagerly wait for Call of the Elder Gods launch

I feel this game delivered a very solid experience for it's scale. If you enjoy a chill, moody exploration mystery puzzle game with plenty of lore, this game is worth a look and was certainly worth the 8hrs it took me to reach the end. My experience was quite rich on all aspects.

First of all, stunning setting, art style, beautiful world environment, fittingly moody but chill (!) soundtrack, the atmosphere was solid all the way.

Norah and Harry's story is so heartwarming and sad. The storytelling has a unique point of view with it's lore and that was one of its strongest points for me.

The characters came to life through the narrative and all the attention to detail when it came to the clues and the beautiful environments above and below.
I was always curious as to what came next, looked forward to descend or ascent into the unknown, and had great fun with the puzzles.

Puzzles were good at explaining what needed to be done. Plenty of notes and clues and I liked trying to figure out how things worked. The puzzles varied but were never too hard.

The story is very good, the whole ambience is very good, graphics are easy on the eyes (a lot). Eventhough I'm not a Lovecraftian kind of guy, I kept an open mind. And the ending did actually got me misty. I almost forgot - the voice actress of Norah kept me real good into it.

The game itself - the puzzles - verging on the pathetic. When I spent a touch more time than intended, I usually seek the guides, but there was no need here. It's just that majority of them don't make any sence (a common one - why is it there), some take a running around time, and some are just annoying. But none are hard, where you have to put many things together, simply because there's not much to put together. Linear.

Why the NO on recommending the game? Well, the ending itself is emotional, yes, but [spoiler]the choise presented did absolutelly ♥♥♥♥ all[/spoiler]. It felt... lazy. I like how Norah unravels everything, but that could've been a nice deduction tree done by the player. I guess I'm just saying the game had a brilliant idea and with a good amount of Detective in it, it could've been insane! Heartbreaker for me.

Call of the Sea is exactly the kind of game I gravitate toward, exploration-driven, puzzle-focused, and deeply atmospheric.

From the moment you arrive on the island, the tone is set beautifully. The environments are vibrant and striking, but there’s always something slightly off beneath the surface. The art style feels colorful and inviting at first, which makes the slow shift into something more mysterious and otherworldly even more effective.

Exploration is where this game shines. It trusts you. There’s no constant hand-holding, you observe, read, listen, and piece things together. The puzzles are thoughtful and layered without being unfair. They reward attention and patience rather than brute force. Many times I found myself stepping back, looking at the environment differently, and realizing the solution had been quietly sitting there all along.

The journal system is especially well done. It tracks clues and connections in a way that supports you without solving the puzzle for you. It encourages engagement instead of replacing it.

Narratively, the game moves in a really satisfying way. The gradual unraveling of what’s happening, both externally and internally, keeps you invested. The way the story leans into themes of identity, transformation, and obsession feels cohesive rather than gimmicky.

And the ending? Well, you decide, you earned it.

For me, it was hard to put down once I got into its rhythm. A top-tier entry in the narrative puzzle genre.
