As someone who doesn't have much experience with bullet hells, I found Bullet Heaven 2 to be a great experience! The gameplay is solid, the music is excellent, and the writing is consistently hillarious. There's a ton of content and room for customization, and it's just a fun time overall.

i really like it so far, the characters are simple and cute and the gameplay is VERY similar to touhou.. i like anna the most.. if u like playing touhou or arcade shooters in general give this game a try :D

シリーズ未プレイで本作が初めて。
日本語非対応なのでストーリーは無視してSTGとしてのプレイとなるが、ゲームパッドだと各種攻撃は出来ても移動ができないという、大問題を抱えている。
そのため、キーボードでプレイしなければならないが、WASDや上下左右キーでも移動不可能ときたものだ。
ではどうするかというとまさかのマウス。
実際にプレイしてみるとマウスを移動させた場所にキャラが移動するのだが、マウスを動かす→キャラが動く、という順番であるため、実操作とキャラの動きに同期が取れておらず敵弾をまともにかわせたものではない。
STGとしては真っ当に弾幕STGになっているが、どうしてこの操作仕様にしたのかわからない。

How could something so utterly unthreatening and wholesome as a Cute Em Up cause so much disdain in me, I actually have no idea. Especially seeing as though, I bought this game while sober, and its considered to be "good" based on the Very Positive reviews. I think we have a case of this game being extremely, fatally "basic" to the point that it sits in the middle of a venn diagram with overalpping circles featuring Cats, mobile game design, the musician Pink, Game of Thrones, NFL, McDonalds, Live Love Laugh signage, Pumpkin Spiced Lattes, and people who think Anora is a masterpiece instead of just a middling film with great acting. Everything about this game screams "I LIKE THINGS!!!" and then proceeds to buy a Nirvana Tshirt from Target and wear it around town with a pair of "sexy sweatpants" and a dad hat, thinking that they are hip, stylish, and in fact very cool.
The art looks like its from an asset pack, the music makes the Wii menu sound like Mozart, and the 1st stage doesnt even feature a boss. I didnt play the 2nd stage, I was so apallaed. As bad as the game looks and sounds, its the game design itself which is truly abhorrent and offensively bland. It is frozen, microwaved steak with ketchup. It is unflavored, overcooked prison oatmeal with cat hair in it. It is vanilla "core" but now imagine if you took out the redeeming aspects of vanilla.

A nostalgia trip and a good bullet hell. It's got many levels and good mechanics. The multiple characters and charge level for weapons out from similar games.
The game is a bit easy to complete due to bombs essentially being more lives and the real challenge is getting a good score.
One of my favorite shmups ever. I've always liked shmups of various sorts since I was a kid, though I eventually gravitated much more towards the Touhou series than more traditional shmups. There was just something really appealing and fun about those games, compared to what I knew from series like Sonic Wings or Dodonpachi.
The original Bullet Heaven (in its credits section) was what first introduced me to Touhou as a child. It quite literally changed my life.
And now the sequel.... man, the sequel. I still love Bullet Heaven to this day, but I have to admit this game is even better in almost every way. Aesthetic, patterns, level design, playable characters (except no more drill bot WAHHHHHH), music... I'm still baffled. If you're looking at this game's reviews, you most likely should get it. Full price, even, if that's reasonable for you. Because I feel if any shmup I can think of deserves that price tag, it's this.

Fun bullet hell that I've played more of the original flash version than the steam port. Music is what you expect from an epic battle fantasy game, that is absolutely amazing. In hindsight a lot of the bullet patterns remind me of Touhou, but it's a bullet hell, what isn't in a bullet hell that Touhou hasn't done already?
I don't normally write reviews but the developer just put out a blog post a few hours ago with the precise number of reviews, and I feel like making it outdated.

Никогда не был знаком с играми с жанром "пулевой ад", но после Bullet Heaven 2 просто пи3д3ц какой ж0пор43дирающий. игра и сам визуальный стиль оцениваю на хорошо с плюсом.
но вот, что рекомендую знать:
- если никогда не играли, не смотрели, не чуяли что такое "bullet hell", то это полнейший пи3д3ц. а если хочется больше того самого пи3д3ц4, то есть для таких людей сложность хэвэнли: весь экран в 5000+ пуль, которые летят со скоростью света.
- если всё-таки вы выдержали и прошли игру (одолели главного босса), но вдруг у вас возникнет мысль пройти игру на 100% достижений, то вам понадобятся стальные нервы в запасе, а также около 60-70 (может больше) часов личной жизни, чтобы выдержать этот 363йший пи3д3ц из пуль.

6,4/5 из сломанных клавиатур. рекомендую.
If you like bullet hell or EBF, play it. I have more hours than it looks like, I think I played it on Flashpoint before I decided to buy the bundle and transfer saves. I never beat the final boss, but I refuse to lower the difficulty.

Casual bullet hell, lots of difficulty options so a lot of pepole can enjoy it, 7 costumizable characters that feel diffrent, 12 distinct worlds. not many issues, its good.

One of the most incredible shmups out there with a solid content to price ratio. So much customization that anyone, casual or hardcore, can enjoy (speaking as someone who isn't the most hardcore shmup player). Wonderful in terms of art and soundtrack. Very little in terms of story, but it really doesn't matter.

fun and challenging for beginners and veterans alike. This game was surprisingly good and I really enjoyed my time with it. Definitely worth a try.
I usually play CAVE shooters and really like those kind of SHMUP games (except for CAVE's weird obsession with underage girls). This is kind of like one of those shmup games but it feels like a flash game. It has mouse support which makes it feel different as I haven't played any other shmups with mouse control but this one feels great!
Normally in a shmup game your tapping the D-Pad to find the small opening your character can maneuver through. Your characters hitbox is usually a few pixels in the center of the character and some games give you more points if you get really close to the bullets. This game does basically all of that. Its got multiple characters, weapons, power-ups and cheats to unlock which I found fun. There are 3 difficulties which makes the game very approachable.
If anyone has any interest in shmups this game is an extremely tight and approachable one. While also having more progression and features than the more traditional arcade shmups.

I came back to finish what I started back in 2016 to 100% the game and after a little over a week of grinding, I finally managed to do it. 8 years later and Bullet Heaven 2 still stands as the only bullet hell game I'll ever subject myself to (excluding Bullet Heaven 1). I wish I could've enjoyed the colorful bullet hell more but the high contrast bullets were definitely my lifesavers. Shout out to green Natz for carrying most of my heavenly runs, I wouldn't have been able to do it without her :')

A bullet hell game with great QoL! I don't play bullet hell games at all, but it's ebf and everything can be as hard or easy as you want. The adjustable difficulty (that affects achievements) helps me improve and motivates you to also try the harder difficulties like hard and heavenly.

Do not let this game name deceive you, this game should be named Bullet Hell 2 instead. After completing all the stages on heavenly mode, all I see are flashes of bullets and explosions. Bullet Heaven 2 is suitable for all kinds of players, with 3 modes ranging from normal to heavenly. There are many characters and level customisations, you can also customise how you earn points as well. Although this is an old game, it is still a hidden gem and you can tell that the developer put his heart into this. Definitely recommended for bullet hell fans!

Always loved this game. Not done playing it yet, nor do I intend to stop for a while. Just a couple of levels short of the 100% and looking forward to it.
Bullet Heaven 2 is awesome. It is just so much fun to get diamonds and absolutely unload your entire subweapon gauge onto waves of enemies/bosses while avoiding thousands of bullets. The difficulty can be very easily customized to fit your skill level, so it is welcoming to both novice players and advanced players. Even with all the small issues, It's such a good time. Highly recommend this game.

Ever since I played the first Bullet Heaven game on Kongregate, I knew I had to pick up the 2nd game on Steam.
I'm not someone who has played a bunch of shoot 'em ups before, but I can say that Bullet Heaven 2 is very accessible for beginners of the genre, such as myself. There's 3 difficulty settings to switch between, and a variety of unlockable characters, abilities, and cheats to experiment with.
The highlight for me is definitely the boss battles. Defeating them is quite satisfying and the great soundtrack adds a delightfully tense feel to it. Seeing your highscores and comparing them to your friends' is also fun.
I must however, admit that I am a sucker for cute stuff and this game definitely satisfies that, while also being very fun to play all the way through. The Cat and Slime Bunny achievements in particular are adorable, and I'll definitely be putting one of them on my profile at some point. :3
My only nitpick is that I couldn't get Remote Play to work when trying to play with a friend, as they weren't able to see the game window for some reason. I have had random problems with Remote Play before so maybe it works for others, I did only try this once after all. It didn't take away from my experience in any real way though. ^^

Grossly underrated bullet hell game. My second favorite right behind Jamestown. This really deserves more attention, great developer. I hope he makes a 3rd game some day!

Unless, I sink 6-8 hrs more into the game, I've cleared about as much of the game achievements (69/75) as my shmup abilities will allow.
So. Time for my thoughts.
Bright colors, colorful characters, fun, hand-drawn enemy sprites. This is a beginner friendly bullet hell shmup with predictable bullet patterns.
One can buy "Cheats," so I was drawn to the ability to regulate the difficulty to a greater degree.
Funnily enough, I skipped Normal mode, and I went Hard. I ended up not using "cheats" until I was trying to get "B" & star-ranks on Heavenly (Very Hard) Mode. I'm a regular shmup'r so take that with a grain of salt if this is a genre you only play once in a blue moon.
The characters feel EXTREMELY under-powered until one gets a better grip on the charging/rest cycle of the main and secondary weapons coupled with beating a wave untouched receiving a Diamond reward(recharges weapons to 100%), unloading remaining charge on the new enemy wave, then snag that diamond reward and getting a recharge and continuing to unload.
So you need to get that technique down.
Next. Enemy sprites are fun. Enemy waves are boring. Every wave is basically the same. A block of enemies scroll down from the top of the screen. Sometimes the wave is enemies scrolling slowly from the sides. There is nothing else. No fun background animations taking place. Or well, anything. It's just walls of enemies and bullets.
The enemy & boss waves are a good length. They often last just long enough to have you gripping your controller a bit tighter and holding your breathe as you hope you down the boss right before bullet 9,967 hits you in the face.
The developer made the odd choice to have bright white, transcluent snowflakes as a bullet. And there is one boss that shoots a flurry of these bullets. It is imposible to see the bullets' hitboxes. I really don't get that. Luckily, there is an option called "High Contrast Bullets." Basically, the bullet colors and halos are stripped and replaced by white circles with a black outline for bullets. So that option is useful for that particular level.
While I had this option on, I discovered why I was dying from some bullets while grazing. There are a handful of bullets that pulse, but do not have an added animation. I couldn't figure out why on one phase of the Final Boss, I was taking hits. That's when I discovered that some bullets were pulsing on Heavenly mode, and they were snagging me while grazing. Again. Developer should have added a visible animation to those bullets.
The game freezes if you play several Survival Mode Levels within a 30min-1hr range. Enemies just keep spawning until the game crashes. It's happened 6-7 times over the 4-6hrs I spent on Survival levels.
Boss phases (9 waves plus 3 possible bonus waves) have enough bullet pattern changes that the battles stay exciting enough. For the most part, I found 90-95% of the patterns (Hard-Heavenly difficulty) do-able. A few patterns, mostly the later bosses, I just ended up using bombs.
Character dialogue is sort of funny, sort of captivating, completely pointless, and wore on me by the end. I believe a bit more could have been fleshed out to ring me into the Epic Battle Fantasy RPGs.
My final thought is: This is a good practice/past-time shmup that would let you work on common shmup pattern recognition. Also, it's hard to rage when you have cheery, innocent looking enemy sprites

Первейший мой шмап с которым я познакомился ещё будучи мелким и безмозглым ребенком в браузере на флеше (А это-же вообще каменный век гейминга.), впоследствии, я полюбил данный жанр, а так-же я познакомился и с играми, что Мэтт указал в описании. (У 1-ой из них комьюнити "по-темнее" чем у Мэтта, но что поделаешь :D)
Плюсы этого шмапа:
Можно играть в коопе до 4-ех игроков! (Если у вас конечно есть хотя-бы 1 друг, который согласится, я из таких никого пока-что не встретил.)
Можно играть на мыше, что гораздо удобнее чем игра на клавиатуре, так-же есть управление на геймпаде, а его у меня нет. (А ещё это достаточно сомнительный плюс для новичка, ведь вроде-как в остальных шмапах управление чисто клавиатурное.)
Саундтрек как и всегда отличный у Фёрны. (?)
Есть что-то типа прокачки, то-есть на игрок получает монеты, за то, насколько хорошо он прошел данный уровень, грейзя пули, убивая врагов, не получая урон и не используя бомбы. Механики прямо как в тохе короче, только та была чистой аркадой. За монеты открываются разные персы, их сабвеапоны и скины, скины дают разнообразные бонусы, например увеличивают скорость персонажа или же i-framы после бомб.
В любом случае, не смотря на её возраст, можно смело брать для ознакомления с жанром. Я даю ей 10/10.
Will admit that I am biased, nostalgia and all, but this is a really fun bullet hell game. It isn't the hardest, but the music is great and the dialogue is goofy as hell, which I personally like. It's just fun, man.
Im really glad a friend introduced me to this game, is something i can really enjoy as a Touhou fan. Challenging, lots of unique shot types to play around with and find that suits how you play. Banger music. It has everything Touhou has and is just as good.
I would love to see a future squeal that ideally plays similarly. :>
