First off, I have not played Runescape. Yes, I know everyone just says this is Runescape, but I have 0 nostalgia for it so my opinion on this game is based off Brighter Shores and only it.
I have really been enjoying this. Yes, it is a grind game. You go and grind combat, grind foraging, grind fishing, grind cooking, grind potion making, and probably grind whatever other professions I haven't seen yet. So you need to be okay mindlessly doing an action. This is just a VERY casual game. Even combat is just click enemy and start combat. Maybe activate a heal potion if you are dying faster than the enemy. Think of it like a "2nd monitor game" as I've seen people put it. So if you are looking for a game to have running in the background while doing other things or just relax to, give it a try.
I love cooking, fishing, gathering stuff, and making potions and stuff. If it would let me do mining, smelting, and smithing that would be great!
To avoid being grindy, the game is circularly grindy. A soulless click fest, but don't worry, you can give your character a burqa so they can be oppressed in game just like in real life. Not sure what the vision is for this game; it seems like the creators don't know either.
Absolutely love this game!, I knew I would as I'm an avid player of the the other games but this one is sooo cozy
Since I have been playing this game I have been having so much fun. I also am excited about upcoming updates that come out very regularly. The story lines are very well thought out and engaging. Yes, the game is very grindy, but is a very easy game to grind in the background while you keep up on your favorite shows in the mean time. I also love the auto grinds you can do at level 20 of a skill if you are not going to be able to play for a while.
So i dont get bored so far yes its not a 25 years old osrs its been out for not that long but i believe the game will reach his peak from 2-3 years from now and i believe early investisment is definitly worth it if you want to have a huge advantage same productor of osrs he know what he doing with the game anad so far i enjoy it a lot its missing dopamine but im sure they working on it
boring. good game but boring and grindy with no purpose. this isnt runescape. everything feels locked or restricted, unlike runescape feels free you can do many things, but indeed locked behind things but idk it feels free like you can do anything. i supported the dev with full year membership, i dont mind, but i hope he finds the game he wants to build.

Second monitor type game, just a cozy vibe of doing this while watching TV, first two regions are free so worth a shot, but it definitely is in early access at the moment. Monetisation is just for last two regions and their skills, which by then you should know if you like the game. Hopefully over time there's more quests and features that make it seem less grindy.
It's a nice casual skilling game for people who want that.

I've played runescape since its launch in 2001 and have gone through its changes from java to now. I've been playing this game for the past 6hrs/48hrs (work and life standing in between) and while I STILL play Runescape (I'm a member, in fact) and I'm rolling my eyes at the 'funny' 'sub-par' comments about the game. It doesn't deserve the hate, graphics are on point with the gamestyle itself, map is massive for a game that's still in early-access, and it is absolutely not hiding the fact that it comes from Runescape. If any gamer had done the work before commenting, they'd know that Andrew's name being ON the game is proof of it making it a 100% runescape but not. Andrew did a wonderful job when he founded Runescape, and he's doing a great one creating Brighter Shores. Its hitting that itch in my brain that made me play runescape from the start, keep it up dude!
Needs more time, but it is getting better
This is a mellow grind. I'm very happy that, despite the negative reception, the developer has continued to iterate and add content to achieve a more engaging experience. I already enjoyed the game and it's done nothing but get better. I will continue to return to this game again and again.

0.1 hours play time? I didn't accept the terms and agreement about the automatic charge through steam wallet after a 14 day free trial period with which I was disconnected anyway for asking questions, ♥♥♥♥ you homie, your runescape mods once banned me in 2004 for typing into f2p chat kammy island server 108 "yellow:Loading..." for reason impersonating jagex, too which i reply directly to you mr gower, ♥♥♥♥ you and I'm banning this game for reason "impersonating a game" but being a catch 22 legal penny grabber.
I clocked In 280 hours on this. If there was a visible leaderboard to see my progress, you'd see overall I accomplished very little.
I experienced all four episodes on release. To be honest I feel like of all the hours grinding for quest requirements, I was rewarded with a total of 10-15 minutes of dialogue across all four episodes.
The game was fun and refreshing on release because the world was full and skills didn't feel so bad when you saw 10 other people running the same route as you for the first two zones.
After the first two zones? You could only find people in the smithing areas of the mine, and the leather working area of creno (which is diabolical considering one of the creno professions consists of running around the city).
Combat. I don't know if combat has been updated since I clocked my 280 hours, but if it hasn't. It's a 50/50 dice roll where your progression is region locked. The quest bosses are one and done, which is disappointing as fighting the same reskinned mobs gets tiresome. Being region locked isn't the reason this is bad though, there just is a lack of gear progression.
Socialising in the game is dire. I mentioned it was refreshing seeing people on release during grinds, but half of these people didn't even have chat enabled as it was disabled on entry to the game. The chat filter was so horrific sometimes even saying a single number would be chat blocked if someone did happen to ask your level. Other than the basic chat feature, there is nothing to encourage any multiplayer gameplay. This is a single player game in which you can see other players simultaneously.
Until they add trading, PvP, co-op bossing, multiplayer activities - I won't be clocking any further hours. Potentially even by the time they do make any of these additions I'll have forgotten about it.
Hats off to the 100-200 people that are still playing this regularly. I wish I could ask you why.
However socialising with the few people that were dedicated to the grind, nobody knew why... what for? The accomplishment capes just aren't enough of an accolade and there isn't ANY other accolades.
Good game but needs Some updates
INSANELY grindy, starting from level 1. And I hear people say the "real" insane grind starts at level 20. I know the dev of this game, andrew gower, for many years, and this falls in line. His previous game runescape was also extremely grindy, but this is x100 worse. On top of that, it's even far less afk-able. He loses the right to blame anyone for botting. This is a game, not a job.
A lot of effort was put into the graphics, which are pretty good, but are ruined by the goofy ridiculous minecraft blocky layout, with the constant areas levitating in a void of space. Meanwhile the characters look like they're taken from disney. Game is completely inconsistent.
Some gameplay and UI were nice, some were bad, but overall it's very obvious that it's meant for mobile games kids, which makes this look inferior to any other pc game.
Game also focuses quite heavily on "skilling" which is essentially just... click, wait, click, wait, click wait, repeat 1000000 times. Every single skill is the same "gameplay".
Not an open world game. Every area feels very much locked. Felt nice to "explore" new areas but not rewarding. More like a "requirement" like a tutorial.
Quests are a bit difficult and convoluted, have to use quest guides, and the UI makes it a little difficult to navigate... open journal, scroll, read, talk to a person, figure out the right dialogue, open journal again, open map, close map... you can't just have things opened at the same time as you're playing (because mobile game screens are too limited), menus keep closing. OR, you keep having to open menus... want to see the stats of the item? Gotta select it first, then click info, now you see stats. Can't just hover over items or see all the stats of all the items because... mobile game UI.
Allegedly andrew gower spent "a lot of time" polishing his precious code, but I personally think he is far too arrogant to listen to anyone. Or at least... anyone over the age of 25 with experience, who would have the balls to criticize him. I know a lot of dumb kids who would idolize him. Any wrong decision that he makes, he gets praised for it. He can't handle criticism and it shows. I could single handedly make this game x100 better but I wouldn't even be able to reach out and get a "hello" from his highness. Besides, he's extremely pro-censorship, the wall of rules and "muh no hate speech" speaks high colors. On his previous game I got a temp ban for "advertising" a website... the website in question? I told someone to "google it". You can't argue with stupid people.
In his defence, he had to grow really thick skin and NOT listen to the player base... because his player base consisted of 95% very unintelligent kids. The vast majority of which weren't even his customers... never paid a dime for his work, but always had demands and complaints. Or just straight up "cheaters" who lied about not "cheating".
Personally, I defend bots. If it takes 10 hours to reach a level that doesn't even unlock anything new, you deserve to have your game flooded with bots. Same if the items cost insane prices because they have insanely low drop rate. This is just a game at the end of the day, nothing we do here matters. It's all supposed to be fun. If you have fun "cheating", go for it, I don't care and the devs shouldn't care either. If they do claim to care, then contact me so we can fix this game. If you don't contact me, then you got no right to tell me that you care. You're just pretending.
And next time put a big fat banner that says "MADE FOR MOBILE GAMES". Maybe there was one but I missed it.

Why have 1 click if you can force people to use 10 for the same result?
So many un needed clicks, click to fight a guard click what weapon to use now that's fine but then click to end the dialogue after each and every kill then a few clicks to pick the drop up (if any) then multiple clicks to find out if it's any better than what you have or see the stats on it
It's not just one area either every element of the game is like someone said "oh I wonder how many times I get get people to click to do something one click would work fine for "

The graphics are passable for what the game is,the combat is mindless and dull same as the gathering but again that's not so bad for a game that aims to fill a tiny gap between RS idle and OSRS
Just because someone starts a company doesn't mean is the right person to take them forward and this like Scape I think BS would better off now in more capable hands

I feel and believe that this game is really really good, it's just not there yet and unfortunately despite being fans of the creator's previous work just not for me. If you like slow paced grindy games with less of a narrative focus and more on the dopamine reward of progression it does it nicely. Devs are making a lot of work and have unlike a lot of other devs especially now, a decent roadmap and clear honest communication.

Le côté RPG semble surtout servir de guide pour enchaîner les tâches, mais les interactions entre joueurs sont quasiment inexistantes. Oui, il est possible de pêcher du poisson en duo… et c’est à peu près tout. Difficile de parler d’un véritable monde vivant quand la coopération et l’échange sont aussi limités.
Très vite, on a le sentiment de faire face à un jeu creux, basé principalement sur du farming répétitif, sans réelle valorisation de la progression. Si l’objectif est simplement de répéter des actions en boucle, autant se tourner vers RuneScape — même RuneScape 3, au pire. Au moins, là-bas, la progression est gratifiante, l’économie est vivante grâce à l’hôtel des ventes, et les interactions entre joueurs font réellement partie de l’expérience.
En l’état, BrighterShore donne l’impression d’un MMO sans âme, qui oublie l’essence même de ce qui rend ce genre si engageant.

This game is just not fun. At all. Calling it a game is a joke. At best it's a monotony simulator.
I like the art style, but the entire game system is god awful.
Everything is just watching your character perform an action.
The only interaction is going to a different area, just so your character can perform the same action there instead.
And when you go through the areas you just feel completely isolated because it's segmented into tiny chunks. It feels like you're going from room to room inside a building instead of exploring a sprawling open world. Isn't this supposed to be an MMO? Why does it feel so lonely?

I downloaded it thinking I’d have a cozy little adventure. No prior Runescape experience here (i should have, it would have given me a reference point)
It's repetitive, grindy, downright punishing to the player.
The multiplayer aspect of MMORPG is missing. There is no collaborative aspect and the modicum of competition is being able to see where you are on the grinders' chart.
Trading with other players is behind a paywall. And, to unlock it, you have to watch your character perform the same actions over and over and over again for thousands of times -which counts for gameplay in this instance.
The worst offenders are the crafting professions in the Mine of Mantuban - Chapter 3, which is a paid area.
Look, i know it costs less than a coffee, but the Chapter 3 professions are pure pain to experience. Not only do you have the increased effort per level, but the animations, the duration of one action, the inability to queue tasks while you grind out hundreds and than thousands of items... it adds up to a dissatisfyig experience.
It's like paying to get tortured.
I do enjoy parts of the game and you can tell a lot of work has gone into it, but as it stands now, I am unsure I'd recommend more than the free to play areas.

It is a simple and straight forward game, while I hope one day for a touch interface for my wrists, I would say Gower is succeeding in making a delightful experience. Along with the (currently at least) reasonable fee for membership I would say it is a worthwhile game.
At first sight it seems engaging and interesting, but once you start getting into the systems, combat and life skills, you start noticing how soulless this is. There's literally nothing to do in this game other than literally clicking on something (resource, crafting station or monster) and watch your character grind away until it's done. I love grinding games and overall grinding, but the problem is in this game there's no benefit or reward for grinding other than... grinding itself. The cooking skill is literally useless since the only purpose of cooked meals is selling them to an NPC for money. All cooking ingredients are bought from a vendor NPC, you can't hunt for meat and only a few fish are used directly. The grinding itself, the core aspect of the game, also makes no sense at all and is very counter intuitive. For example, monsters are treated like resources, you have to first "unlock" the ability to attack them by reaching a certain level. There's no strategy or thrill into combat, it's just exactly the same grind as harvesting a node except you need to pass a status check (your DPS must be high enough to kill the monster before it does kill you) and once you do, it's just a matter of literally waiting while you watch your character and the enemy swing at each other until the monster is ultimately dead. Since the entirety of the game is merely a status check, almost everything from a lower tier becomes utterly useless as soon as you reach the next tier, as materials are not used for crafting anything purposeful other than actually leveling (perhaps herbalism/alchemy is the sole exception for this due to potion usage). Skills are locked to specific regions. So in the starter town you can only gather, fish, cook or prepare potions. No woodcutting, no smithing, nope. And every region unlocks more skills. Which then brings the next problem: Even the REGIONS and CITIES become useless because they also represent entire "status check" zones. Why wait until you are late into the last zone to be able to work leather? What about all monsters and animals we killed to train our combat skill since the Chapter 0, starter town, didn't they have leather at all? And why will this leather only be able to be processed into armour by the Armourer, a skill that will only be RELEASED on a future expansion, that can only be learned in a different city? All these systems and skills are not cohesive, immersive or intuitive. They're only grinding systems stacked on top of each other and locked behind a pay and time wall. Paywall because the later areas are premium content. And time wall because even if you've paid, you'll only be able to become a blacksmith later in the 3rd zone. Leatherworker? 4th zone. Armourer? 5th zone (not even released). Some skills make no sense for me: Forager (1st zone) and Botanist (2nd zone) are different skills with the same purpose. While other games have a farming profession, the Botanist here is merely a "glorified" forager that must go extra steps with wild plants before being able to harvest them to their full potential. You don't have a plot of land to plant them on, and you can't even prepare your own Fertilizer, you buy it from an NPC as well. And later on, in the 5th zone they are going to introduce a 3rd harvesting skill. Like, what is the justification for that? When your character moves from one city to the other they suffer some kind of partial amnesia and forgets how to harvest things with their hand? And then they need to start leveling a 2nd different, and that not being enough, a 3rd different skill from 0 to justify sinking more time in this? This is just plainly offensive to the player! No respect or reward for time investment at all. Just a soulless loop where one can sink its time. I've sunken round 7 hours and that was already enough!
TLDR: Go play Runescape, Albion Online, Bitcraft Online. The graphic style here can be charming, but that's pretty much it, unfortunately.
Early impressions as a casual OSRS gamer are that, I'm kind of digging it. The writing at least early on is fantastic, been having a great time with the early quests. I also really enjoy the aesthetic of the world and characters. The stylization of the UI not so much. Its fine mechanically speaking but it just has a bit of that mobile game feel to artistically speaking.
Music was awesome. Tutorial too hard and long lmao. I couldn't play with lena for an hour.
It feels like this game was so concerned about NOT being RuneScape that they ended up making a game that is subpar to RuneScape.
Fun, chill skilling game. I like the board game-like layout and the card collecting mechanic. Would be nice to have a better way to compare gear without selecting to equip it first. Great music. Looking forward to what this becomes at release. Please don't abandon this project, despite the negative reviews. There is something very worthwhile here.
Really liking the game so far. Lots of fun with just the right amount of grinding for an old-school type game. I also enjoy some of the more humorous dialog.

Seems like a lot of people were expecting this to be some sort of successor to Runescape. One of the best thing about BS is that it's NOT that bloated old pile of poo called Runescpe.
Runescape today feels like a mockery of what we knew it to be growing up. Bonds, massive exp farms, easy gains, inflated economy, the list goes on.
As someone who has played since 2001 the game today feels like it's been taken away from me in away. It's nearly impossible to get into anymore as a true oldschool player not whatever the hell OSRS is now.
The creator of runescape that we knew left, Andrew sold the game and it became fortnite like. Andrew went on to make a new game called Brighter Shores on steam.
Brighter shores plays exactly like how RuneScape did for the first 8 years. And as veteran of runescape, I find it more enjoyable to play over RS in 2026.
TL;DR: Runescape 2026 is for Gen Z and Brighter Shores is for Millennials who played classic 2001 rs

I like the cats but this seems like another get rich quick scheme with little content delivered over the past several years. They are just coasting off subscriptions at this point and its not worth investing the time or money into as its a dead end game loop and it was designed to be that way.
I could write a thesis on why I would not recommend this game, but I want to highlight that you can (and likely should) [b]try this for free before subscribing.[/b] That experience will tell you everything you need to know about the game. If your first few hours are not fun, [i]do not expect that to change[/i]. In fact, those first hours are probably the most interesting. Apart from questing (which is quite limited as of this writing), every hour of the game is roughly the same experience (click/wait/click/wait) with a different skin. The recent updates reiterated that *if* this will change in the future, that future is likely very, very far away.
I want to be able to recommend this game with a clear conscience, someday.

I think a lot of the negativity is coming from people expecting this to be RuneScape 4. It is, of course, very similar in a lot of ways to RS, BUT, it is way simpler and slower-paced, almost at a life-sim game pace. I don't have a ton of time in so far, but I have thousands of hours in OSRS and hundreds in RS3; I've been enjoying leveling up my dude and questing in this game quite a bit. It's literally free bro.

I remember when this game was launching one of the promises made was that you had to manually purchase membership every month. I played it for a couple of weeks and decided it wasn't for me. Low and behold I have been paying for membership for the past couple of months, despite not having opened the game for well over a year.

This game is INCREDIBLY f###ing boring. Beyond belief, even.
What they have here; the game engine, the tilesets and the art assets, look great.
What they need to do, is FORGET EVERYTHING THEY EVER IMAGINED AS A CONCEPT, AND SELL THIS GAME AS A "BUILD YOUR OWN D&D GAME THAT YOU CAN PLAY WITH YOUR FRIENDS"
The concept sucks. The game engine has infinite potential as a digital D&D experience you can customize to your own campaigns.

Yikes. Scrap the game and give us the engine and art assets for D&D, then you might be able to recoup your losses. What a dumb dumb dumb concept for a game. How almost 200 people can manage to be returning players for this snoozefest is beyond me.
The new milestone update is just the worst. After playing since launch and getting multiple 500's im done.
Pretty boring with an extremely streamlined and uninteresting gameplay. There is literally zero reasons to not play OSRS or RS3 over this, if you like grindy games. It offers nothing better or new over them, every single difference is for the worse.
I logged in after the update and stuff I was passively doing is now locked and the menu is gone so I can't even find what I *can* still passively do.

New update kinda killed it for me. UI is a mess and even harder to understand then the original. I feel like this drives more people away instead of attracting new players. We need more activities and meaningful rewards not more slop in the already unfriendly UI
Being a longtime runescape fan I can't really recommend this game. It feels very mechanic and generic, you are constantly doing the same menial tasks just for the sake of it. Also the fact that a lot of the game is locked behind a paywall during early access is hard to swallow.

After 3600 hours poured into this game (way more than I ever invested in any other game), the latest update made me lose all hope in the dev team. Since launch, instead of working on interesting content (e.g. new regions, dungeons, minigames, special attacks) or sorely lacking features (e.g. clans, chat channels spanning more than one room, offline messaging, a trading system that doesn't require 3rd party systems), they have redesigned the game entirely, making it considerably more cumbersome and confusing, but not, imo, any better.
And there is no excuse for dropping this humongous amount of changes all at once. Sure, some things are interconnected, but big swathes of this update could have and imo absolutely should have been brought progressively instead of developed all in the dark and dropped all at once.
I no longer believe they have a vision. It seems obvious to me now that they have been winging it from day one.
Instead of calling this an early access and charging for premium subs, they should have hired testers to figure all these things out for them... or maybe spent more time in the board room designing the game for real.
If I sound bitter, it is because I am. I had fallen in love with this game and I am heart-broken.
Brighter Shores has put me off MMOs for a long time (possibly forever).

Have you played RuneScape, RS3 specifically? I'm sorry you have, but you'll at least understand a few of my points here.
Were you not a fan of dungeoneering? I wasn't, but what if they took anything that felt engaging from even that paltry experience? This is that or at least feels like one wide and shallow dungeoneering thing.
Can you handle a VERY anglocentric view? I can't. Uh... I don't know what more to say about the problems here without probably annoying the hell out of most folk.
Would you like a game that was made with the player experience in mind? Because it does not seem like the creators play through their own work. Maybe the obtuseness and monotony is part of the core vision?
Decent community from what I've seen. I will admit that is important but damn, this is not a good experience at its core.

After playing a bit more. I am wrong. This isn't like dungeoneering. This is just a graphical MUD, Multi-User Dungeon, like where the terms "mob" and "proc" came from. Holy hell. I feel both old and crazy. Also, why can't I just type in EESSW and such to navigate these "rooms"? Should I /pray to get ahold of a GM? Is this the 90's? Is this Kesmai? Where are my mages to blow holes in walls? I could point out a couple in particular. At least we are past the telnet and IRC days with this.

I had what felt like a near endless list of "why is it like that?" and "what's the point of that?" questions.
I am cannot be for certain but I'm guessing they are using Meta's Llama AI junk for more than just the chat moderation, as I was told. Because this reeks of someone using generative AI to make systems and not understanding context matters.
If it is true that chat mod is all they use Meta's AI for, then I still am not comfortable interacting with this software and am uninstalling.
Its honestly just boring..
Nice and relaxing. Pretty simple, but perfect when you're in the mood for something not too taxing. Music is awesome!
This game is difficult to describe, it’s like if you combined The Sims Medeival, Old School Runescape and an Ideller together. The actual experience of playing the game isn’t great, hours of grinding in game until you manage to unlock offline progression. Even when you unlock offline progression it still takes weeks to get one of your skills high enough to continue the story. When you do get to continue the story it is 5 minutes of content before you are back into the xp grind. From my on record play hours you can see I really tried to make this game work and play as optimally as possible but it’s not work your time.

Ce jeu est difficile à décrire ; c’est un mélange entre Les Sims Médiévaux, Old School Runescape et un jeu d’ideller. L’expérience de jeu en elle-même n’est pas terrible : des heures de farm intensif sont nécessaires pour débloquer la progression hors ligne. Même une fois débloquée, il faut des semaines pour atteindre un niveau de compétence suffisant pour poursuivre l’histoire. Et quand on y arrive enfin, on a droit à cinq minutes de contenu avant de replonger dans la course à l’XP. Mes heures de jeu enregistrées témoignent de mes efforts pour optimiser le jeu au maximum, mais il ne vaut pas le coup.
It's a neat idea for a game except it seems to be at odds with itself in how it wants you to play. It wants you to pay a subscription every month in order to maintain access to chapters 3 and 4 (as of this review chapter 5 still isn't out) but once you're caught up with the story there's nothing to do but grind to do the side quests which have much higher profession level requirements than the main quest. Absurdly high one could even say. The key to getting through the grind? Not actively playing like Runescape. Afk farming. That's right. They want you to pay a monthly subscription for a game that incentivizes you to NOT PLAY.
tl;dr Neat idea not properly executed and a gameplay loop that doesn't respect your wallet OR your time.

Only just remembered this even existed and that's probably not for a good reason. Played for a few days on Day 1 and dropped it straight after and went back to *another very familiar MMO* instead, as the experience was not a good one.
Skilling stations looked cool but the skills themselves were a real slog and not fun at all to train. While I know it's since been fixed (or is going to be fixed), the idea of progress resets across areas made training feel entirely pointless.
The instancing of rooms while good in concept to prevent overcrowding of resource nodes and combat enemies just made the social aspect of the game feel dead. Not being able to actively see other areas and people other than as blacked out/darkened tiles made the world around you feel small and constrained.
The storage system is an absolute unintuitive disaster and don't get me started on area locked equipment.
Would recommend you look elsewhere if you're looking for something fun to play.
Really not even worth explaining whats bad. It's all kinda bad, like the worst parts about rs3 with none of the good.
The concept of it is pretty good, I did enjoy it at the start but it starts to become an utterly dull grind fest of pushing a single button over and over again. Only one teleport spot in the entire area (at least for where I was) so you spend a LOT of time running back and forth all over the map. Visuals area great though so if you like slow paced grinding games, give it a go.

I am taking a little but of time to write a review of brighter shores. Over all I see great potential in this game. The quests and world are fairly inviting but it does have its flaws depending on the kind of player you are. I have played far too many mmos to count going back to Everquest, This game is very grindy in skills to move you quests forward, if you are not into crafting as a major part of you moving forward in storyline this game isn't for you. If you looking for a friendly community this place isn't back but communtication tend to be limted and there is not real world chat. That tends to styimy building of a communty.
This game is a beta. this isn't close to a finished product. I very much enjoy being a part of communty helping to shape the game to come. I See this game world has much potential and I am happy to be a part of shaping it as a player. Because its not a polished product do be aware it has warts and its play style may not be for you.
The game plays fine but the grinding after the early game gets ridiculous and the xp scaling doesn't make any sense. I stopped playing because even after a couple hours of grinding actively, it felt like I barely made any real progress in the skill that I was aiming for.

This is the least immersive game i've ever played. Every aspect of it is designed to scream at your face that you're playing a video game about made up characters in a made up world
This game is actually ass, The quest grab a sword from the quarter master. Like where tf is he? Dialog is ass, 0 help, not user friendly, if you have autism this game is for you. Enjoy wasting your time like I did. I'll never get that 5 minutes of my life back. Sorry not sorry, But! MAYBE TRY PLAYING YOUR OWN GAME FIRST BEFORE EARLY RELEASE.

If you come here expecting RuneScape, this is not it. And if you expect it to be, you'll be disappointed because it isn't. Brighter Shores is its own game, and it's different in many ways. It's slow paced, is relaxing, it's fun if you don't expect it to be something it is not! The music is great, tutorials are perfectly clear, players are really friendly. I don't particularly like the graphics, but that's just me, they are fine. You should try it!
It's just runescape, but dumbed down and for lazy people. Which on its own is ok, but I have a few gripes
1. The storage system is just dumb. There is no reason for me to not focus on combat as a main source of income. I can store all my equipment immediately, so I don't have to go anywhere. Everything else requires you to find a storage point. This makes skills such as foraging and fishing meaningless, because I'm likely going to just drop the resource to make more inventory space so I don't have to stop what I'm doing.
2. Why am I receiving member only items if I don't have a subscription? Restricted drops are off-putting. I understand quality games require financial support, but this is borderline panhandling. If you're doing good work, then your work should speak for itself.
3. Potions in general are just terrible. Not being able to stack xp timers is annoying. Brewing potions, man you gotta fix that. XP scaling is awful, RoI is terrible, Passive XP scaling is probably the worst part of this game without question.
4. Any skill where you collect resources that isn't combat is pretty much 100% meaningless. See point 1.
É paia o fato de as profissões serem apenas por região. Seria 10x mais interessante se fossem globais, como skills. Pra mim se mudasse só esse aspecto seria um jogão, mas isso mata totalmente o grind
Game is very similar to runescape in playstyle but unique in it's own way.
I have NEVER in my life seen a developer with this much passion for a game, there's a big update every week being released, sometimes 2 in one week. Usually you see updates like this every 3 months or so. if anyone mentions a bug, they fix it immediately.
This has been going on since late 2024 and they are still grinding and putting in hours and hours each day and it shows in the game, it's nothing like it was at launch.
They have to be rewarded for their efforts!

What I've found in all my playtime is the most relaxing version of progression for this style of RPG than I've found elsewhere. I can't play it as much as I'd like anymore but I'll probably always jump back in from time to time. That's a game you can keep in your back pocket, and it's worth it at that price if you want to explore past the free content.

Very few meaningful updates since launch. Devs seem content with adding the occasional short quest while making already subpar systems worse.
the game could be good, atm is a poor mans rune scape with a paywall. the game is in early access but feels more like an alpha, an alpha with a paywall!
Decent game, got a few horus in it, progressed nicely and then it got really boring, not even the grinding, just repetition.
