Calling this a "strategy" game is.... A stretch to say the least, it's more like RNG simulator for players who have a gambling problem. The only real strategy comes from "Do I want to roll 3 dice against this and gamble if it's gonna completely screw me over despite this supposedly being in my favor?". Regardless of this, it's still fun and a very good game. And when you are allowed to play the game and use strategy because the RNG gods are having mercy on you, it's amazing. It's just sometimes you don't want to put your entire game in the hands of RNG. The RNG is balanced, but it's still RNG. If you don't mind getting screwed over in the most absurd unlucky ways possible you'll be fine. But truly do not mistake me when I say, this games WHOLE identity is RNG.

Blood Bowl: Chaos Edition is one of those games that will absolutely infuriate you and somehow keep you coming back for more — I've lost count of how many times a single botched dice roll ended my perfectly planned turn, but that tension is exactly what makes it addictive. As a faithful adaptation of the tabletop game, it handles all the rules automatically, which saves you the headache of rulebook arguments while still delivering that nail-biting mix of strategy and cruel RNG. The 23 races give you a ton of playstyle variety, whether you want to run a finesse elf passing game or just send orcs to pummel everything in sight, and watching your players level up — knowing they could die permanently at any moment — adds genuine stakes. It has a steep learning curve and some bugs that Cyanide never bothered to fix, but if you can stomach the randomness and put in the time to understand tackle zones and risk management, this is the best value Blood Bowl experience available. Grab it on sale and don't look at Blood Bowl 2.

I generally like GamesWorkshop IP. I’ve played tabletop Fantasy, 40k, and Necromunda, but not Blood Bowl…and that’s probably my problem.

[i]Blood Bowl,[/i] the video game, seems to be a faithful representation of tabletop and definitely has the feel I was expecting, but the tutorial is utter schlock. Yea, it teaches you the interface, but nothing about the game. Just, “throw a ball, try to murder some bastards, and get the ball across the line. You good? Cool, good luck! Oh, and you can find [b][i]ALL OF THE 60+ SKILLS[/i][/b] in our reference guide, which will explain.” Just straight into the fire with a computer opponent that understands far more than the basics.

I puttered around with 3 different teams…going more generic and adaptable each time. I was in almost 5 hours before I finally had that [i][b]flash[/b][/i] during an opponent’s move where I finally started to [i]get it,[/i] but when I turned around, I realized I didn’t particularly enjoy the pummeling I took. I am not interested in spending another 20-30 h just to become proficient enough to start playing this game

If you already know and enjoy [i]Blood Bowl,[/i] then it’s probably a pretty low-key, fun game to play for a few rounds here or there. The barrier of entry was too much for me, though. I don’t want to spend dozens of hours of grind before it becomes fun.

La première adaptation du jeu de plateau ne pouvait être qu'une réussite car ça en fait un jeu vidéo unique de football américain au tour par tour dans l'univers de Warhammer.

Qui dit univers de Warhammer dit riche en contenu, notamment avec cette édition Chaos qui rassemblent la totalité des équipes possibles et permet des matchs toujours plus différents.

Le mode solo était limité au bout d'un moment mais il avait au moins le mérite de proposer autre chose qu'enchaîner les matchs avec un mode de gestion d'équipe que j'adorais.

Le multijoueur est ok, mais il vaut mieux se diriger vers une ligue privée pour profiter de ce que le jeu a à offrir.

If you don't want to put up with insane RNG and AI's easily beating you in turn-based mode, try real-time blitz: there you can actually make your own impact larger than the sadorandomizer.
Having real-time mode and a lot of factions for cheap is what makes this game imo most worthwhile in the series.

Play by play it holds true to the original boardgame, so is quite nostalgic for me. Dice rolls can be a bit brutal, but I've come to accept that!

There's so much to learn for something that appears to be so simple and casual. DO NOT BELIEVE YOUR LYING EYES. This game is difficult and full of lore for every team and how they play. It's like DND Football but in the most incredibly difficult way. 10/10 would never recommend... That being said I love DND this was just something that looked like it would be fun if it was for casual playing.

A wonderfully frustrating strategy game if you have lots of time on your hands to learn the ins and outs through many failures. It's all about minimizing risk. If you do not have patience, this game is not for you. I like this one better than Blood Bowl 2, but both are pretty good.

Certainement très bon à l'époque, quand on a touché au 2 celui-ci paraît brouillon.
Gameplay et graphisme daté.

J'en profite pour mettre un tir gratuit au 3 qui est une belle arnaque si vous comptez y jouer en solo.

Blood Bowl 2 reste le meilleur de la saga ! :)

TOTALNA LOSOWOŚĆ, ale na O WIELE większą korzyść NPC. Zmagam się przez pół godziny w jednym meczu, ciężko zdobywając przyłożenie, a w ostatnich czterech turach komputer rozwala mnie udanymi przerzutami oraz przebiegnięciem całej planszy trzema zawodnikami w jednym ruchu... CHORE. O ile gra z żywym przeciwnikiem na stole ma sens, o tyle z AI zwyczajnie nie ma szans na uczciwą wygraną, jeśli nie masz w zapasie tysiąca pięciuset wspomagaczy na czas trwania jednego meczu... It is a tabletop port. The game is over the top combo of war-games and "american" football. You get to bride the reff to look the other way as you bash in the skull of the other team's best player. If that does not tell what you are in for, then I have nothing to tell you.

As for the other games. I have no idea. However with the rise of popularity of Warhammer, and the other reviews. I see this game as more or less the truest tabletop brought to PC. The others are cash-grabs or... "modernization" of the tabletop. Just be willing to compare the games to each other before you make a choice. Or be rich ♥♥♥♥♥ and buy all the copies with out worrying till later.

A great board game makes an attempt at a video game. But sadly ruined by lots of bugs.
- AI matches: there are no bad injuries.
- AI matches: TDs fairly equally distributed, even when it makes no sense. Like treemen scoring multiple TDs. Treemen! With AG 1 and MA 2.
- Reloaded save games erase all customs lineups.
- And the 'random' dice rolls are sometimes quite predictable.

In short, can be fun, but can also be quite frustrating.

Pensant retrouver une suite au fameux Chaos league, quelle fût ma déception. Une jouabilité brouillonne, des graphismes horribles, une interface peu intuitive... C'est peut-être plus fidèle au jeu de plateau Blood bowl (que je ne connais pas), mais en revanche, pour les amateurs d'action cela ne vaut en rien Chaos league développé quelques années plus tôt. très déçu.

I love the tabletop game, but somehow this just does not translate into anything like the fun of the real game. There have been various incarnations of Blood Bowl over the years and they never seem to get it right; this is no exception. Aside from the poor AI, the repetition and the lack of real variety, the main problem is it seems far too slow all the time; it's a slog getting through games at times. All-in-all there isn't enough underlying drive to keep you coming back for more. As much as I have tried, I just cannot seem to stick at it; I doubt most other people will feel any differently.

Ha, i never wrote a Review for the First Blood Bowler... i have to change that, but i will keep it short.

Why now, years later?
I wanted to play Blood Bowl so badly, but my peeps who play on the table are all around the world, so it has to be digital.

Yeah, but why this? There is BB 2 and BB 3 !!

Because this is the one, where the AI is not Brain-Dead, where there is a focus on Singleplayer (if you are more into MP, i would say: Go with BB 2, wait with BB 3 until there is everything oK and the Microshop is gone!).

So thats it.

If you don't know anything about Blood Bowl... You better start with BB 2, because you won't know that the AI is not as good as here, but you will have better graphics and an easier interface.

If you do know about BB and maybe have BB 3 installed and a Singleplayer and not sure to go for it: Do it. Its fun. It works. You can have decent games in here.

This is in my humble opinion, the best of all the Blood Bowl games. I've tried the all, and even with the newest graphics, I find this the best value for dollar. It's frustrating to be expected to keep buying the newest versions of every Blood Bowl, to continuously have to purchase the full game at a premium price, and have to pay extra for "DLC" of the same teams you've bought over and over again.

Buy this version and don't concern yourself with the fancy graphics and save yourself a lot of money!

Achievements do not work years later! Still a fun game, but jeez is that bad. This is a special premier edition of the game. It works okay and is really fun IF you know the game well. However, there are problems. Such as, presentation could provide a LOT more information like tackle zones and dodge chance. There is almost zero reason to buy this version over getting Blood Bowl 2.

If you like American football and Warhammer you would probably love this game. The dice RNG can be a bit rage-inducing when playing against CPUs but its probably more fun when playing with your friends I wouldn't know because I don't have any. déjà il faut connaitre un minimum le football américain pour comprendre globalement le jeu mais ensuite ça devient brouillon... sans compter que je ratais systématiquement tous mes jets contre l'IA qui les réussissait.

I bought this game on sale without knowing much about Blood Bowl, and I don't have any regrets.

There are teams who use violence, teams who use passing, teams who use both, and teams who just suck. So far, I've learnt how to play teams who use violence, knocking down half the opposing team as soon as the game starts is so much fun.

You can also use bribes, magic, have the audience attack the opposing team, large players can throw the small players while they're holding the ball, and more.

I'be never played the tabletop version, so I don't know how accurate this game is when compared to it, but it's definitely fun.

Since I played the original board game i got this thinking it would be a cool nostalgic ride from my child hood. but theres something just not right with any of this, firstly i feel Cyanide just HATES there customers, no matter what level you play on, from the easiest to the hardest the dice roll is stacked against you and get exponentially worst the hard level you play. I even sat here for a bit with a set of dice and my actual roles were never as bad as the in game roles..... not even once ! Cyanide = Hates players

take that into account that there off shoots have a habit of abandoning there games unfinished, i highly recomend you do not buy there products fro Cyanide or there off shoots.

This is a good game, played a lot single player games and I am not very good at this. Did some online matches and lost badly. One match lasts around 30 minutes, so this doesn't take so much time. Might be best with friends, but I never got anyone to get interested of this. Worth trying if you are into fantasy and are looking for something different.

Da sempre affascinato dal mondo di warhammer ho deciso di cimentarmi in un gioco che mi ha sempre affascinato, consapevole che era un gioco difficile con innumerevoli variabili... purtroppo è molto più difficile del previsto, persino il tutorial è incomprensibile. Servono tantissime ore solo per capire come funziona. Molto frustrante, mi dispiace non ho tutta questa pazienza e tempo a disposizione. A volte penso che dovrei riprovarci dedicarmici un po' di mesi...poi desisto...

Chaos Edition (2012) includes all content from legendary edition (2010) + 3 new races and some new fields.
So buy Chaos edition as its got everything which sounds like iot should be the other way around but I promise you, dont get Legendary or you will have to still buy chaos to get everything

Es ist nicht verkehrt aber ich habe mir mehr drunter vorgestellt..Mehr Freiheiten und weniger Zonenspiel.
Welche Version ist besser? Chaos oder Legendary? Chaos ist genauso wie die andere, nur mit einigen Inhalten mehr..Legendary hat 5 GB und Chaoes 8 Gb Größe.
Mit der Chaos trefft ihr also die bessere Wahl.
It's not wrong but I imagined more out of it...more freedom and less zone play.
Which version is better? Chaos or Legendary? Chaos is just like the other one, just with some more content..Legendary is 5GB and Chaoes is 8GB in size.
With the Chaos you are making the better choice.

Rulebook is a small novel printed in microscopic font, tutorial basically just tells you to read the rulebook. Yeah, if I wanted to do that I would have selected 'rulebook', not 'tutorial'. To top it off, when I realized the game wasn't for me, I tried to quit the tutorial and the option doesn't even exist. If I press 'esc' in a game, ANY game, you bring up a menu with an option to stop said game. If I have to cntrl+alt+del just to exit your game, it ceases to be a game, it is malware.

this game is literally unbeatable the dice rolls for the ai are way to favorable im talking 4 dodges in a row a 6+ throw all after a grabbing a ball my passing roll failed on its absolutely the most broken one sided "luck" ive had in game its not just this one match its almost every damn match. ive never won ive only tied once in 12 matches i understand the rules and everything but luck based element is severely broken there is no reason every game they should be throwing hail marys or dodging 5 of my linebackers in a single when my team can barely seem to pass ball, or even near a enemy without getting clothe-lined it should be percentage based with dice. it literally feels like the computer is using weighted dice but hey i see all the good reviews so i guess either something is wrong with my files or rng just really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like me the 4 hours i played this ♥♥♥♥ but it does feel ridiculous to even have difficulty setting for a game where the ai is the dice your throwing and that its gonna keep giving itself the good roles and keep giving you turn over roles in your first decision.

"Blood Bowl" tabletop game was a small masterpiece from GW and I spent many afternoons in the '90s playing it with my friends.
Yes, I'm THAT old.

This games recreates the same cheesy atmosphere, with great sounds and graphics, access to every team ever released and the chance to play online a lot (a match lasts seldom more than 60').
It's possible to play historical matches, single games, but campaigns and leagues take the cake: as coaches we have the chance to gather a ragtag group of rookies and forge them into champions (at least the ones who survive).

My only complaint is that the RNG seems a bit "off", but every player knows that rolling a "1" doesn't entitle to roll a "6" right after.
Some people might find the time limit per turn a nuisance, but the game can always be paused and I find it good to be on my toes.

Long story short: perfect title if you're into turn-based sport/strategy games.

Still prefer Chaos addition to BB2 - feels more like the board game. The cut scenes (which you cannot skip ) on BB2 and game play is so much slower it takes the momentum and fun out of the game. Although older BBCE much snappier and user friendly

Loved this game when it first came out and bought this copy years later not just for nostalgia but to try the new added teams. It wasnt long before I found bugs however. The vampire team is unplayable. The "Randomiser" for dice rolls is completely broken whenever you try to move or do anything with your vampires. Every roll was a 1 to see if they suffered from bloodlust. I've never rolled twelve 1's in a row in my life. I had to just abandon doing anything with the vamps and focus ONLY on thralls. It wasnt long before I quit out the game and deleted the team never to play again.

If you play this version of the game, choose any team APART from vampires. They have next to no customisation options either and only two team members. Thralls and vampires. No Vargheist big guy, no runners, no blitzers or even throwers. The vampire team literally suck.....pun intended lol

Would I recommend this game? Yes,absolutely,but Atleast not for now. It has got some bugs which makes the game broken/worse (timer bug-only 40s, some icons not showing up).Other people on the forum have also these issues. So, if you are looking to play the game, download it from torrent or somewhere, atleast not until the bugs are fixed. When the bugs are fixed, I will change the review because I like the game:-)

Ce jeu est est INSULTE aux mathématiques et aux statistiques : pour tenter de corser le jeu, les développeurs ont tronqués tout les modèles mathématique de jeté de dés. Surtout, ne demandez JAMAIS à connaitre le score du dés 6 lancé par l'ordinateur : pour la Xe fois, j'en suis à 10 double 1 d'affilé en 5 round (turn over automatique à chaque première action malgré mes 5 relances) et je regarde l'équipe adverse : il a fallu attendre le 47e jeté de dés pour avoir un 4 de sa part...... pour jouer, il faut pouvoir réussir au moins 1 action de temps en temps.... donc, passez votre chemin, la version PC est buggé/triche à mort inutilement.
Jouez plutôt à la version papier et figurines, vous aurez la possibilité de découvrir le plaisir de la licence avec du hazard qui est du hazard, pas de la triché éhontée.

I have a huge appreciation for this game, but I am absolutely AWFUL at it. I feel like the tutorials weren't very helpful, and the campaign actively makes you start out bad. If you can get a grasp for it though, the game is great. Just be prepared to possibly put a lot of work into it.

Welcome to Blood Bowl, where there is no such thing as victory and the dice hate you. 8/10.

Blood Bowl is a fantasy sport tabletop game - I'm not much of a sports guy, but from what I understand, it's sort of like American Football/Gridiron, but with fantasy races and more violence. You select a race/faction, draft a team from the available units, and compete in leagues or tournaments against other teams. As you progress, your players gain experience and get better... or maybe they receive crippling injuries or just straight up die. It's all up to the dice.

And the dice hate you. Yes, you. You in particular.

Everything is resolved through dice rolls - how much dice is rolled, and whether you get to pick the result depends on your player's attributes versus whatever they're trying to do. Want to throw the ball? That's a dice roll. Stomp someone's face in?? Dice roll. Tackle? Dice. Just picking up the ball of the ground? You better believe it - dice roll.

It doesn't matter how strong your player is. He could be a literal god of war, but on the field of Blood Bowl, if you roll all skulls, he's still getting stomped by a halfling that comes up to his ankles. Somehow.

There are of course, various strategies one can use in Blood Bowl, and each faction is kind of naturally geared to certain ones, but in general, there are two basic strategies - either you try to play the ball and score like this is just regular football, or you focus on annihilating the enemy team, player by player, until it doesn't matter that your entire team eats butter with their bare hands before dipping them in vats of olive oil so they can give each other homoerotic massages in the locker rooms.

The enemy can't stop you from scoring if they're dead.

It can be an infuriating process when you're just learning the rules though. When you're starting out, you'll likely have trouble drafting a decent team, not to mention figuring out the best way to deal with certain factions/strategies, which matchups are bad for you and which ones you can rely on grinding down.

(I love playing against Vampires, myself, because I can always rely on them to Blood Frenzy and remove themselves from play... and hopefully, they'll do it before they kill half my Skaven.)

The commentary by the announcers is great fun and adds to the dark humour of it all, but it probably won't erase the sting of watching your star player fumble a ball so hard he breaks his arm.

It's a fun way to pass the time, and if you get seriously into it, there's some online leagues and communities you can join to further spread the joy and pain.

Just remember: losing is fun.
