Arguably the best match-3 puzzle game in existence, it is at the very least what has popularized and inspired the genre for decades. Four game modes with varying rule sets for endless decompression. 2000's style spacescapes for your eyes to feast on. A mysterious but powerful voice (assumably god of the universe) unable to withhold their admiration for your matching skills as your jewel mining triggers an avalanche of gems.

I first discovered this game on my Android phone way back around 2006. The music, by a composer who is known as Skaven, is something I was very familiar with. Back in the 1990s, I was hooked on the PC Demo scene. Second Reality by Future Crew is my all time favorite, and when I heard the music in Bejeweled 2, I instantly recognized it. When I saw the name Skaven tied to the music in this game, I knew immediately who it was. But overall, this game is vey addicting. Sure, there are other games that came after it with different concepts, but this game still is a ton of fun to play, and the music itself is the BEST music that I have heard in a puzzle game like this. It stands the test of time, and it fits so perfectly with the game play. Well worth it and I'm so glad to see it still available for at least PC. This game was released before EA purchased PopCap Games.

The game itself is "just" an "I have a few minutes, so let's play something not too serious and entertaining". But the real thing here at least for me, is the music. It's Peter Hajba, aka Skaven's ( Future Crew ) composition. It is a pure nostalgia for me to an era ( hello 90's, DOS, GravisUltrasound, Demoscene, etc... ), when 640KBytes were almost enough for everyone ;). It will never come back again, and I truly miss it. Those were the days ( at least in PC era )

Bejeweled 2 is not a good as you remember. While it introduced new features that have been a mainstay in the series, a lot of game modes are very gimmicky. Action mode in particular is grindy and unsatisfying, just like it was in the very first game. The unlock condition for one of the modes requires an absurd amount of hours put into Endless mode, and I can't think of a single person who achieved it fairly.

The one unique selling point of Bejeweled 2 is Puzzle Mode, a feature that hasn't made a return in subsequent games. Playing it again after 20 years, most puzzles feel like a grid was drawn and just happened to be solvable purely by accident. Most of the time it's very obtuse, and it doesn't feel like you're working towards finding a solution.

For newcomers, I recommend skipping this game and getting Bejeweled 3 and Bejeweled Twist instead.

Classic pop cap game, i play this game when i was 9 in my computer. Its a classic matching game like candy crush that really fun for play. In classic mode you aim to get most highscore, using any hint will reduce your point. The second one is puzzle , you need to finish the board with limited move like candy crush if you play it on smartphone. Overall this is good game, not surprise it get 94% on steam positive.

Get it when it goes on sale

It is a fun little distraction, that I play in hopes to improve neural plasticity. As I'm not able to do things I remember being able to do in my Youth. Now, could I actually do that stuff, or was I just an arrogant whippersnapper? Who knows--but still playing this game (and a few others) because my current skills do not match up with what I believe I could do as a youth--and that will just not do

2. The game still has the high score based theme, but it is more of a backround thing as they have expanded on the types of game modes.
3. Due to expanding, I enjoy it far more than the first game, but still classify it as a game you use to pass the time.

qnd eu era criança eu achava que esse jogo era o futuro; Não sabia da existencia da computação gráfica, portanto, achava que aquelas imagens de fundo do puzzle eram imagens de outros planetas.
Sinceramente, não me lembro de ter terminado de jogar esse jogo, apesar de ter gasto mt tempo nele antigamente. Mas acho que eu tinha maior facilidade em fazer os combos de 5 peças, e o "no more moves" era BEM menos frequente kkkkkkkkkk criança é phoda;

A time when games was just you, the product and that's it. No micro-transactions, no paid BS; just a finished product made with love from start to finish.

It's nostalgic as I played this as a kid, but it has also aged like fine wine. The music is relaxing, more than once I find myself pausing just to drift into my mind with it. It's not taxing on the thinking bean, offers a lot of game modes (and a lot more to unlock!!!!) that will keep you busy for hours!

And for those interested, you'll be happy to know that the software used for all the backgrounds is still active; Mojoworld can still be found online and installed, free for y'all to make your own amazing worlds! Give it a try!

Bejeweled 2 is an unforgettable classic from Popgames. From the beautiful backgrounds to it's mesmerizing music, Bejeweled 2 offers great replay value for those looking for a casual play or a challenge for those wanting their name on the leader boards. It's aged-like-wine graphics and interface are always pleasing to look at and the backgrounds and level sequences are always a treat to look at. Just an overall relaxing and fun experience for everyone. Not to mention that this alone is a perfect starter for new Steam Deck users as it runs flawlessly (Especially docked). I haven't stopped playing this game since the late 2000s and i'm always drawn back to it with it's addicting gameplay, pleasing music and challenging gamemodes. This is a top tier and has deserved it's place in modern game markets.

There was a set-top box version!
Still, I remember when this was first released, and I was just amazed.
These days, I don't like the bubble aesthetic of, like, say, the selection reticule.
Let alone some of the extra modes annoyed me, especially to unlock the extra mode tied to Endless.
At least this one also hid the first game's rules behind a cheat; hovering over the mode buttons clockwise a few times.
And it's all still about the demoscene music that Peter put out, even to this day.

The music is good though. But my eyes miss the visual madness of Bejeweled Twist and Bejeweled 3. Same applies for the gameplay department, its not that chaotic or dense as those games. Rather it feels shallow and tame in this one. Perhaps they figured something that upped the gameplay in those later titles that is definitely missing in this one.

If you want to purchase for nostalgic reasons... go ahead. Its not a bad game. But i wonder how many of us would pick this over 3 or Twist after having played those.

Also PopCap should breakfree from their overlords at EA and start making new interesting titles as an indie studio once again. Screw mobile games, screw EULA and data piracy, screw EA terms.

All we want is brand new Pop Cap games that would stand upto their old classics.

an improvement over the first in every way. has a campaign this time, among other game modes, and another amazing peter hajba (skaven/future crew) soundtrack. and all of it can be sampled in the demo.

Класика в трохи більш сучасній обгортці (в порівнянні з першою грою), по суті це класична три-в-ряд, нічого зайвого. Досить цікавий режим з головоломками й страшенно олдскульні, рівня графіки 90х, портали-кротовини, які чатують на вас після кожного рівня й викликають суміш нудоти та ностальгії (якщо ви таке пам'ятаєте, якщо ні, то лише нудоту й можливо кров з очей).
Якщо хочете просту гру щоб вбивати час це воно. В третій частині ще більше режимів гри, але тут режим головоломки - топ й вона лаконічніша.

I think this is the best 'mainline' Bejeweled game (not including Twist). It maintains that same space atmosphere, but cleans up the game a lot from the first. It's a solid time.
