Joc curt, sembla fet per a mòbil. Només se simula des del dia 16 de desembre fins el 18 de desembre. Les unitats de partida sempre estan en la mateixa posició d'eixida.
És increïble que demanen per aquest joc prop de 10 euros a preu normal. És simple, extremadament curt i gens rejugable.
El seu preu hauria de ser d'1 euro com a molt. Si veieu el meu temps de joc (1.5h) ja m'he acabat el joc amb victòria pels alemanys.

This is what happens when you take a 1990's boardgame designed to introduce players to wargaming, convert it to a bad money grab iOS game, then try to port it from there to the PC when it fails: hot garbage. Then mix in a dash of "paid for reviews" and a splash of fake gaming articles in magazines that dont exist... erm, I mean "Marketing" and shake it around a little before slapping it on Steam. Viola... Battle of the Bulge from some studio no one has heard of published by the notorious "Snake-in -the-Grass" Slitherine.
Yeah just avoid this one. a 14 year old in the 1980's designed the original game concept after playing Axis and Allies one too many times and it shows.
Devoid of any significant tactical or stategic depth
A fun game with no obvious bugs or gameplay issues. The map is colorful and the AI plays well. It is a great game to play solo.
Amazing little board game war game. It's very simple yet very detailed. If they came out with a sandbox version of this game where you could make your own scenarios based on other operations I would be obsessed. You can tell that the developers care because they even put in the entire history of actual events, a glossary, and other small details. Worth it for anyone interested in strategy war gaming.

These 3 WWII games by Shenandoah Studios (legendary game designer John Butterfield) are great. Excellent way to get your old school table top war game fix. Recommended.
It is definitely a fun little game to play with a cup of coffee in the morning, it is mostly a math game, however the AI cheats like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy if you play as the Axis, even if you have superior forces, the Allies will win. In a sense it is like Axis and Allies, there are two factions, sure, but if you play as one you are guaranteed to lose.
For a newbie to wargames this is easy to understand, whilst still providing a challenge. Really enjoy playing this.
Ofensywa w Ardenach błędnie nazywana ostatnią niemiecką ofensywą na froncie zachodnim (po niej była choćby operacja Nordwind albo Konrad III albo Sonnenwerde na froncie wschodnim) to jedna z najbardziej przeoranych bitew w historii gier wojennych (planszowych i komputerowych). Przerobiona na dziesiątki sposobów i kombinacji. Zasady w tej wersji nie są skomplikowane i po kilku próbach i przeglądnięciu instrukcji (jak to bywa w każdej grze wojennej - jest wymagane przeczytanie instrukcji) jesteśmy w stanie zagrać pierwszą partię od prostych i krótkich scenariuszy ( 3 dni) po całość bitwy (13dni)

East to learn - very similar to the old Avalon Hill board game.
Too short, only 12 days of battle, while actually it took a about 1,5 month. There is no point at replaying it as second time it gets boring.

Fun area control game. It is reminiscent of Breakout-Normandy and Monty's Gamble board games. Mechanics are straightforward - this is an impulse system, where each player can activate an area and move/attack with the units in that area. The impulses alternate within a turn and take a variable amount of time - the turn will end at dusk. Its a good port from the iPad version.
Just played a couple of scenarios, but so far this appears to be a very good game. Excellent historical representation. Great flow of play.
A competently made, reasonably polished one-night-and-done sort of single-player wargame. AI is comparable to sister game Drive on Moscow, meaning any replayability past your first win lies in co-op. Repeating historical tactics on both sides will produce historical results. Wait for a sale, but for what it is, it's fine.
"Battle of the Bulge" ist ein kleines Strategiespiel.
Die Ardennenoffensive. Unter dem Decknamen "Wacht am Rhein" sollten die deutschen Truppen ab Mitte Dezember 1944 mit einem verzweifelten Vorstoß Antwerpen erreichen und so den Nachschub abzuschneiden und mehrere alliierte Divisionen einschließen. Was Hitler in seinem Wahn für einen Befreiungsschlag hielt, wurde selbst von führenden Militärs als absurde Aktion angesehen. Trotzdem die Alliierten wirklich vom massierten Vorstoß durch die Ardennen überrascht wurden, scheiterte die Offensive kläglich. Die größte Schlacht der Westfront, die etwa einen Monat dauerte und zehntausende Tote forderte wird im englischen "Battle of the Bulge" genannt.
Dieser kleine Titel, der die wesentlichen Tage der Offensive vom 16.12. bis zum 28.12.1944 abdeckt, funktioniert im Wesentlichen wie ein Brettspiel. Alles ist stark simplifiziert, dadurch sehr einsteigerfreundlich ohne allerdings unkomplex zu sein. Am ehesten läßt sich das Game vielleicht mit einer Partie Schach vergleichen. Wir können als Achse oder als Alliierte spielen.
Die Karte ist ziemlich klein. Die Anzahl der Provinzen ist ähnlich wie die Anzahl der Felder eines Schachbretts. Es sind keine Hexfelder, sondern die Provinzen sind unterschiedlich groß, wodurch sie eine unterschiedliche Zahl an Nachbarprovinzen haben. In jeder Provinz können bis zu drei Einheiten jeder Seite stehen. Pro Zug dürfen wir alle Einheiten einer Provinz bewegen. Besteht der Übergang zu einer Nachbarprovinz aus einer Brücke können wir nur eine Einheit über den Fluß bringen. In einem Zug können wir aber zum Beispiel eine Einheit über einen Fluß bringen und die anderen beiden Einheiten in eine andere Provinz bringen.
Es gibt im Kern nur drei unterschiedliche Einheiten. Infanterie, Panzer und motorisierte Infanterie. Jede Einheit hat Stärkepunkte, die sowohl die Anzahl der Angriffe angeben als auch die Lebenspunkte. Infanterie kann pro Zug je ein Feld vorrücken, Panzer und motorisierte Einheiten mehrere, wenn es das Terrain erlaubt.
Gezogen wird (in der Regel) abwechselnd. Jede Einheit kann an einem Tag nur einmal ziehen. Wieviele Züge es an einem Tag gibt, hängt vom Zufall ab, denn wie lang ein Zug dauert, wird ausgewürfelt. Ein Zug kann mal eine halbe Stunde vom Tageskonto abziehen, mal zwei Stunden oder auch mal gar keine Zeit. Dadurch weiß man nie wieviele Züge man hat und man wird gezwungen, taktisch zu priorisieren.
An jedem Tag gibt es festgelegte Verstärkungen oder auch mal neue Einheiten oder auch Sonderzüge. So starten wir als Achse etwa mit drei freien Angriffen hintereinander ohne daß sich die Alliierten wehren, um die Anfangsüberraschung zu repräsentieren. Oder wir dürfen am Beginn eines Tages eine Einheit wählen, die durch die Luftwaffe unterdrückt wird und sich dadurch an diesem Tag nicht bewegen kann.
Das Erstaunliche an dem Spiel: trotz des recht simplen Regelwerks ist die Komplexität der taktischen Überlegungen, die es fordert, hoch. Und auch wenn es nur eine einzige Karte mit den immer gleichen Grundbedingungen mit den gleichen Verstärkungen gibt, können sich die Partien doch recht unterschiedlich entwickeln. Auch ist es interessant, mal die jeweils andere Seite zu spielen. Die anfänglich überlegenen Deutschen oder die überraschten Alliierten, die im Laufe der Tage deutlich mehr Verstärkungen und neue Truppen bekommen als die Gegenseite. Als Alliierte ist man praktisch gezwungen sich zunächst taktisch zurückzuziehen, um nicht gekesselt zu werden. Eingekesselte Einheiten erhalten nämlich keinen Nachschub und können sich weder bewegen noch angreifen.
Grafisch ist das Spiel einfach, aber zweckmäßig und übersichtlich. Sound und Musik sind passend Technisch funktioniert alles sauber.
Der Titel ist wie eine Brettspielversion von den typischen Hardcore-Strategiespielen. Er enthält viele Elemente in stark vereinfachter Form, ist historisch im Rahmen seiner Strukturen ziemlich akkurat und bietet so sowohl eine gute Erfahrung für Einsteiger in das Genre als auch eine nette Zwischendurchpartie für Hardcore-Strategen.
(Wer Gameplay sehen will, dem kann ich nur wärmstens das Angespielt des besten youtubers aller Zeiten "Steinwallen" empfehlen).

This is a great war game that accurately depicts the operational situation during the Battle of the Bulge. This is done simply, elegantly, and with attention to detail. I love this game.
Initially I did not like this game. I lost so many times, and I couldn't understand why.
After studying the Battle of Bulge and the strategies of both sides, I came back to try it again, and suddenly everything made sense. Now, I win every time.
This is a really fun WW2 game, even though it's mostly a turn-based tabletop game. The strategy is more indepth than it would appear and it really feels like you're fighting in the Battle of the Bulge, constantly on a massive time limit (especially if you're the Germans) and having to make split decisions and troop movements that could either be decisive or completely disastrous.

A very Dynamic game. Time is not linear. Defending and position is important. Germans concentrating armor is important. All units may not move in a given day.
Good play options and it doesn't seem to be the same game twice.
This is a beautifully designed and executed game, a real gem. It looks great, plays quickly, is well balanced, and offers both sides multiple potential strategies and paths to victory. The PBEM system hosted by Slitherine works well, and a small but dedicated cadre of players is available to challenge you online.
A notable weakness is that the AI is not consistent enough to make a challenging opponent. It can execute quite good moves but as often will make terrible blunders. It also seems to try to play on general “good tactics” criteria but doesn’t seem very concerned with the specifics of the victory conditions, which acts to its disadvantage.
Against a skilled human player, however, I've encountered few games that rival BoB for level of mental challenge and sheer intensity/excitement. I find the game very much like chess in that you absolutely must consider the board from your opponent's standpoint and consider moves and possible counter-moves turns and even days ahead. Unlike chess, however, luck plays a big role and must also be considered in your calculations. Almost every move represents a critical decision (usually from an opportunity-cost standpoint), and a single mistake or well-considered gamble can turn a winning game to losing or vice-versa.
Another factor is that unlike some computer-based wargames I’ve played, you really have to RTFM and learn the game mechanics (like the movement rules and combat system and modifiers), victory conditions, game clock, calendar and reinforcement schedule, etc. You can’t make informed in-game decisions without that level of understanding.
The game is also slightly marred, particularly for the Allied player, by a couple of bugs. A key bridge connecting the north and south portions of the west bank of the Meuse River victory zone only works northbound, hindering the Allies' ability to respond to a German thrust in this area. And in contradiction to the (excellent) online rulebook, the Germans can rack up victory points every turn for getting units across the Meuse even if they are cut off and out of supply. I'm sure this title is no longer a big seller (although it deserves to be!), but a final patch to fix these last few bugs and compile a 64-bit executable for Mac so it can continue to be played on MacOS Catalina and beyond would be a great gift to the community.
Overall, BoB looks and plays like a casual game about an interesting subject, but it is actually quite subtle and deep. Not a great historical simulation by any means (though it does capture a feel for the ebb and flow of the battle), but a very fun and challenging game.
Simple basic but multiple options and easy to get in to and spend hours
Though 'Battle of the Bulge' is a simplified representation, it still does an excellent job of representing the main themes of the battle; the need for the Germans to push hard for the breakthrough and for the Americans, to organize a defensive retreat. The game presents a number of interesting challenges with variations to difficulty and unit starting locations adding to replay value. Reading the 'Basics' and playing the 'Tutorial' was enough to gain an understanding of the game play. I was then able to build on my strategies and understanding of game dynamics during my first scenario. Gamers looking for an lightweight (in terms of time to play), turn based experience, similar to Memoir 44 and the Panzer General series (aka basic Panzercorps), should find this game an enjoyable cerebral challenge!
I'd recommend this game, especially for people who like boardgames. The rules are quite simple, but still take quite a lot into consideration (e.g. supply, armour and in an abstract sense airpower and German special forces) the clue being that it cannot be calculated by the player how many combat/movement phases a day has since these phases randomly take between 0 and 120 minutes, thus increasing the replayability of the game.
Another positive thing is, that by moving into a space occupied by the enemy the player commits these forces an cannot easily move them thereafter and only withdraw them into uncontested areas. This feature leads to a necessary decisions about when you carry out a move since carrying it out too early the opponent can react with a countermove, waiting too long and the mentioned random length of a turn might prevent the player from moving the unit altogether.
Since the game takes place on a divisional scale there are no rules for flanking fire etc. however, the player has to worry not to be cut off from supplies.
The AI is reasonably good when defending - don't judge it by the run to the Meuse river scenario - in the longer scenarios. The complains about "randomly moving around when having to attack" are imho not really justified, but result from the fact that the AI won't attack at unfavorable odds, which occur when the player moves its units correctly and hasn't been surprised by the clock. However, it takes the player enough time to figure out what tactics are advantageous.
All in all worth the money when u consider that it sells at 4.99 when on sale and will last definitely longer than the regular glass of wine or beers you're going to get for the same amount of money...
If you want a simple emulator of a basic beer-and-pretzels, hex-and-chit boardgame, this is for you. If you're looking for simulation, maybe not so much (stick with Grigsby). Personally, I like games at all complexity levels,--it depends on my mood and time available. I had fun with this--enjoyed it!
this game came from the phone and for a port its worth a try
I've spent a good part of yesterday and today reviewing all the games that I have in my Steam library .... 72 in all. I noted that 40 of them are hidden because I will probably never even attempt to play them again because I found them lacking in one respect or another. This game is a perfect example. The game overview and especially the units are so oversimplified that one could conclude that they are playing the Battle of Mortain and not the Bulge. Instead of moderating reviewers maybe Steam should devote at least an equal amount of time to "gatekeeping" some of the software that is posted.

This is a neat game that feels very much like a board game system that was published years ago by the now defunct Avalon Hill Game Company. For those of you that will remember this, I am talking about the play system used through games such as "Storm Over Arnhem", "Thunder at Cassino" or "Breakout Normandy". This game is quite easy to approach, a bit more challenging to master, and fun to play.

The whole field of battle is divided in areas of different shapes in an effort to recreate the historic challenges the terrain imposed on armoured/mechanized divisions of the time. Historic units counters represent the various military formations on both sides. The command system is very simple as each zone is activated one after another, making that game mostly turn-based (the exception being the first day of the Ardennes offensive on the German side). Each whole turn represent an actual combat day, and your units must be supplied in order to function properly from one day to another.

It performs well, and provide some reasonable replayability as it is playable from both opposed sides with a varied style play that depends on the AI personality that you may choose (represented by a different general on either the Axis or Allied sides). You may elect to play specific sequences of days (scenarios) or the whole campaign. Play time may vary from 15 minutes to up to three hours depending on the scenario/campaign you have chosen.

Simple to learn, the complexity level is low enough to serve as an introduction in this type of game. It is a historical game and an effort has been made to make it historically accurate. Replayability is a plus. Play time is also a plus, allowing for short games. The Achievements are not grindy and are reasonably easy to come by. There is no bugs, everything is smooth and easy. It will run on a 10 years old PC, and needs less than 500 MB of space on your HD.

日本語化もされており、ユニット数も少なくルールも簡単なので入門編としてお勧めです。
ただ、ゲームとしての面白さを上げるためにサイコロの目を調整しているのではないかと疑う部分もある。
ただの平地に合計戦力４の歩兵2個師団を配置していたところ、戦力4のエリート空てい師団に攻撃されて撤退し、お返しに戦力4の戦車師団をぶつけても返り討ちにあうのですが、確率的に敵に有利でもサイコロの目次第だとしたら何度もロードを繰り返せば違う結果が出てもおかしくはないはず。
町と林の防御効果合計2の地点に戦力2の機甲師団がいて合計戦力９の装甲師団と歩兵2個師団で攻撃すると、機甲師団には最高でも１ダメージしか入らない。9回もサイコロを振っているのにおかしいでしょ。
マップが小さいので、このシステムで市街戦を再現したゲームが出たら面白そう。
I had less than zero expectations going in with this title, but I have to say that this is one fun little wargame. I truly enjoy the battle system, but what really impresses me are the historical touches seen throughout the game. A pleasant surprise - big recommend !
Game is not bad, but just one scenario severely limits replayability. Not that good bang for the buck, so to say. Pick it if you want "strategy light" for 20 minutes. Else, pick Hearts of Iron 4 or Barbarossa series.

⚡Pricing policy is quite controversial: 169 hryvnia per game is quite expensive for such a project, just buy it in a bundle of two games and only at a discount - then you won’t be sorry for the money for such a short adventure.
Great idea, frustrating execution. I'm a huge fan of strategy-conquest games like this, and since their's not a lot out there like this I would normally give a few annoyances the benefit of the doubt. But the game is almost unplayable with the really poor UI and poorly thought out game mechanics. If you play this game you'll be spending a LOT of time trying to figure out how to do simple things because the game doesn't explain it well and it usually doesn't make much sense why it was designed that way. I support the game maker in his future endeavors as I think he has potential to make better games, but this one was a mess.
This is a review for game called Battle of Bulge.
If you know history, you can easily understand that this game covers last major push of Germany in WW2. The Ardennes, 1944 December. Game lets you play for Allies or Germans. Like in Drive on Moscow there are 5 scenarios covering all battle of episodes of it. This game lets you select even wider range of opponents. If you play vs Allies there are: Montgomery, Patton and Bradley, and if you play vs Germans: Von Rundstedt, Dietrich and Von Manteuffel. Selecting generals means that they can attack or defend differently. This is a great game that is easy to learn and doesnt take much time to understand it. Great strategy game, and on sale its better to buy it with Drive on Moscow, two great games in the same bundle! Only bad things are that "luck" factor can sometimes be weird and some achievements are bugged. But its only few problems in great game.
This game was bundled with Drive on Moscow for a total price of 14.99 both games use the same engine, and are good operational games that reflect the historical situations while not being to overly detailed. Good Beer & Pretzel games particularly well suited to pbem or hotseat play. Bulge can be played in no more then 1 hour for the opening scenario and even the whole campaign can be done in an evening.

ただ違うのは、ターン終了時にランダムに時間が経過し１８時になれば1日終了。通常のウォーゲームとは異なるので注意。
時間との戦いであるバルジの戦いをよく描いている。
ルール、地形表、戦闘解決表、戦闘序列表、特別ルール全て日本語、多少怪しいところもあるが許容範囲。
時間がない、相手がいないウォーゲーマーとしては、セットアップ、戦闘解決自動。AI相手も種類豊富なので非常に貴重なゲームでありお勧めである。
同シリーズのDrive on Moscow: War in the Snowは日本語対応ではないがバンドルでまとめて買うと安い。
iOS版では、Desert Fox: The Battle of El Alameinもあり、将来発売されるかもしれない。このシリーズに期待大である。
Won all three of the main axis starts easily, ai is weak and axis has it too easy imo. Haven't tried the allied campaign yet but it doesn't seem that appealing.

游戏规则奇葩，首先一回合只能动一个区域的部队，而一个格子可以攒三支部队。于是玩法就特么奇葩，你要总攻又不想碰运气，就要先把三个部队弄进同一个区域，但你试图中路放德军主力从两翼攻德军大后方时，居然一次只能进一支部队了（WTF？WTF？），其它两个跳到下回合，本来2+2+1打2+2，应该是我方占便宜，结果变成2打4，肯定被轰成渣不解释。这种莫名其妙的设定或者BUG，让你看着敌人空空的后方，却玩不了大迂回切断他们的补给。
还有你抽出防御部队去切断敌军暴露的后方，或者派更多部队驻防一个区域，这游戏神他妈的会让你的守军发动一次进攻。例如你本来人就不多处于8打12，本来还有一些防御加成，但你发现旁边的德国佬冲得很深漏了尾巴，要抽走一个4去断补给，系统神他妈的让你留下来那个4对着对面的12发动一次自杀攻击。
游戏也就是整个突出部的地图，变化不大，玩来玩去就是那一张，只是加上一些规则变化。胜负条件也限得很死，玩整场战役系统会不停进行判定，总之不是很自由。
评分：5/10，糟糕。

游戏过了购买期是退不了了，本来想下最终结论的，但介于前面疑点过多，这样盖棺定论还为时尚早，于是我找到并打开了游戏自带的说明书——操！原来是这样。
这里先吐槽一下游戏中的教程和基础说明，只是大致讲了部队移动、堆叠、血条、攻击次数、击中反馈、援军和跳时间，是说了一个大概，但是细节缺失。想看具体的规则除了去找manual，还可以在游戏菜单打开。
关于上述第一问题，一次只能进一支部队，是因为有河流阻挡，如果对面有守军只能一次进一个单位。“WTF？除了Meuse还有别的河流？”我打开游戏仔细看了一下，果然地图上的河流犬牙交错，我真是眼盲了，但是那些蓝色的势力边界真的很容易把那些河盖住。
关于上述第二个问题，真就那样，也不像《文明》可以换防，完全无解的。这真的是设计师傻逼和程序员偷懒了。
另外我去社区转了一圈，得知这游戏是可以补充损失的，并不是打两下整个师就全完了，结合说明书说是要到20日才行。
好吧，我粗略看了一下具体规则又开了一局，按照那套路打，德军就被全歼了，提前一天结束战役-_-|||

象棋化的兵棋，设计独特。
容易上手，操作简单。
可以单机，可以联机，可以热座。
自带大量历史资料。
缺点：
教程设计非常糟糕。

I haven't played a game this basic and uninteresting since I was 5 years old. No, admittedly I didn't give it much of a chance, but at the same time I expect more out of a Wargame distributer like Slitherine. If you're a hard corps historical gamer, give this one a pass. It's not what you'd expect. It sure wsan't what I expected.
Gotta give this one a thumbs down.

There is four options in this game:
Armour to the Meuse
Infantry to Bastonge
Defend the River
Defend the town.
Its arcade strategy. Having said that, its a fun strategy game that doesnt make you ponder for hours about each move's consquences. There's no post-analysis needed. Back to the main menu and start again.
Battle of the Bulge is a fast-paced WW2 game where precise movement and detailed planning make the difference between a vain attempt and a brave operation.
It would be nice if there was a way to acknowledge the victory notification and then go back and review the map and units. As I see it now, it preety much locks down the game and I can only go to "main menu".
Otherwise, this game is well worth the money. The system works pretty well. I will play against the comuter, or solitaire, using the hot seat option.
I would love to see the old "Ardennes Offensive" computer game on Steam, but given that is not available, BoTB is good option.
Not bad but not great as well. Buy if on sale, should be like $ 3.99
Very good game. What I like is the simplicity. You can play this game immediately and have a good game with the AI wrapped up in 30-60 minutes. The real enjoyment is verus other players and PBM. It is a cross of chess and a traditional board wargame. The game is well balanced and both sides will be on offense and defense for roughly half the game. You do need to know the nuances of the rules but they are not overly complex. I hate when I play games that are about say Operation Barbarosa and you have to get down to the detail of how many tires need to be ordered for your motorized units...if you take my meaning. This game does not have that detail. Your big issues will be guessing the enemy's next move, concentrating your forces for offensive action and sometimes trying to withdraw from sticky situations. Offense and defense both take skill and preplanning. This is because once your forces are committed and engaged it gets hard to unengage and redirect. I feel this is historically accurate.
My only mild dislike is the combat system which often produces insane results on the extremes. A small single point unit holds off an entire Panzer Corps or Armored Corps. While smaller units can delay they could never stop such an attack especially for a day or two. However, the luck tends to average out and it is not usually completely determinative. Things absolutely will go wrong or against you at times but I feel that is accurate, too within a certain range. Combat never ever goes like your initial plan, at least not for long.
I give this game a top rating as for me it is the best kind of game to play. Virtually 100% of your time is spent on moving and playing and not game management. You will stare at the map considering your next move carefully as the sequence of your moves is as important as the tactical plan itself, much like chess.

I like it. But please take a little time to understand the game.
If you just jump in and start moving units frustration builds quickly.
You really need to read the user guide before you make up your mind.
Buy it, read the guide, play the first scenario, switch sides, play again (see how the computer plays against you).
That sold me on the game. It's a game, not a simulation. Enjoy it as a game.
If you still don't like it, you will be within the limits for a refund.
Again, it uses a different system so don't use the same approach you do with other wargames.
It is abstract but that is necessary given the scale and play time intended.
You do need to think a few moves ahead, which is good.
Activate an area, move the units from that area you chose, engage in battle when the enemy shares the area in which you end your move.
So... you must plan ahead to ensure the area you activate has the units you need (which you achieve by previous activations and movement).
The concerns about "realism" are overblown. Choices were made. It's a game. Play the game.
If you read the guide the choices are easier to accept (unless you are just looking for reasons to fuss).
Replayability depends on how much you leverage the options. Change sides, change commander style, etc.
I got it half off and find it worth that price.
This is not your typical wargame. I admit I had a hard time at first getting used to the impulse system.
It does have a certain charm once you get used to it and it's rather unique. Very happy with my acquisition!
Three types of units: Armor, foot infantry, motorized infantry. Map is divided into sectors, only one of which can be active at a time, thus limiting your tactical options. AI is superb fighting along the front, but is subsceptible to flanking along the southern border. Not a true wargame in my mind due to the "artificial" constraints on movement; seems more like a chess-type game where you can move three chess pieces at once. Still, a challenging puzzle for the price and one which can give you a few hours of fun (and frustration). Replay value is low.

Meh. Simplistic, plus, only being able to activate one sector at a time makes it less functional, and interesting, than most wargames.
Not bad at all for the price - it's a quick beer & pretzels wargame.
In what seems like an effort to add historical flavour, Bastogne is ridiculously tough in terms of the locations defensive benefit, though I've never seen a historical (or even similar) defence of the town in this game.
Units can also move too freely out of enemy zones, leading to supply line paralysis rather than combat.
Still, it's playable in an hour and it doesn't suck.

En estos juegos lo principal es la IA, y a este le pasa lo que a la mayoría.
Al menos tiene un formato novedoso, aunque sea un risk dopado.
El escenario principal dura apenas ¿2 horas?, pero dentro de la sencillez, se disfruta bastante, ya que las opciones de movimiento, que a priori parecen pocas, permiten hacerte tener que valorar bastantes alternativas.
Luego, si no tienes nada mejor que hacer, te lo rejuegas un par de veces y listo.

It's good. I got shown this at a friends place. Proceeded to then buy it on Steam for myself.
Just note this:
This is not a wargame per se, as soon as you can look beyond that, it becomes much better. For me, being a wargamer this was a hurdle. But once you figure out what it is it becomes a very deep experience.
So what is it then if not a wargame?
Well... It's a puzzle game. It is like a mix of "area activation" euro style board games and a logic puzzler. The theme is more coincidental, but is a nice touch.
The game has two core concepts, one being the mentioned "area activation", a mechanic often seen in trading style board games. It means that a sector of the board is "activated" on your turn, and only that, so you may ONLY move units on that sector. All other units have to wait a following turn.
The second concept which is central to the game is the timeline. A unit may only move ONCE every sub-timeline (a day) then it may not move until many turns later (next day). This is where the puzzle thing happens.
For instance, in the first scenario, it is very little about winning over the enemy but a lot about logically figuring out how to reach a certain point in time, given the movement restrictions.
In multiplayer it is the same thing, with the game taking on more of an abstract view of the theme and more of a logic puzzle nature. Like how chess is about battlefield tactics, hence the pieces and move ranges, but it is so abstracted it instead is turned into a logic game of deduction. This is the same.
So wargamers should be aware of this, and instead see it as a thematic puzzle/board gaming hybrid with some great depth.
When you do that, it becomes VERY enjoyable in it's own right. The small history articles is a nice touch also.
Very short limited game. Although the game mechanics are good enough and feels like home for a wargamer like me, campaigns are all same-map based and they too small for the game price.
solo hay un mapa, pense que serian mapas aleatorios o habria mas variedad y diferentes tamaños, no tiene muchas opciones de juego y las que hay no varian mucho unas de otras, solo tienes cierto tiempo de juego, no es ilimitado.
ademas que solo pueden ser 1v1? esta bien que sea en base a la guerra mundial, pero es solo un juego basado en una supuesta batalla historica y ya, no hay una campaña como en los otros juegos de estrategia parecidos, ademas eso de que solo puedas tener ciertas tropas por zona o moverlas de una en una es un aburrimiento.
Admito que tiene buenas cosas ya jugandolo, como lo de la forma de desplazar las fuerzas o que las batallas dependan del campo de batalla y de cada tropa en la lucha, pero si hubiera tenido mas contenido hubiera estado mejor, siento que me robaron, al pagar esperaba mas de este juego, siempre es el mismo lugar con las mismas fuerzas y pasan las mismas cosas, no les recomiendo jugarlo a menos que el juego mejore en los aspectos que mencione, no gasten su dinero en esto, no lo vale
This game is an excellent game for the wargamer, the AI can be frustrating but in a worthy opponent sort of way.
Its a nice game, don't know that it has much replay value. I also keep having an issue where the enemy AI freezes up at the start of their turn. More or less ruining the game. Might be worth getting it cheap on a steam sale (couple of bucks maybe).
The game was completely unplayble at release, since I suffered from the endlessly scrolling map bug. The new beta patch fixed that, after a month. I managed to go through the first two steps of the tutorial (moving two of your units), and then the game decided I'd had enough fun, and the tutorial just stopped moving forward.
Also, I can't scroll the map with my keyboard, there are no options for this, and the mouse scrolling is hopelessly sluggish, and there are no options for this either. The resolution selection option is bugged, and kept endlessly scrolling the resolutions. Also, I managed to find some kind of info screen on what the different symbols in the battle screen represented, but that was bugged as well. The symbols and the text overlapped and made it very hard to understand. That's also just what I found out with my *five* minutes with the beta patch.
This was a beta patch I understand, but it's a fully released game, c'mon, it should work at some level.
So yeah, haven't really played the game, if it works some day, it might be great, but I'd steer clear for now.
I enjoy this game, easy to learn, hard to win, pretty good AI, harder as the allies, and I can play a game over lunch easy.

For some reason i thought this game is bigger and deeper that what you see in the screenshots and videos. Its not. Its simple, very simple "phone" strategygame. Yes, its well done, and yes its entertaining, but no, its not for PC gamer's. You'd expect to get way more content with 10 euros price.
Hmm, lets see.
I enjoy boardgames and given the mechanics of this game, it felt promising. It's simple and enjoyable, not too stressful either. Music is cool, the effect are nice and I personally can hold the immersion.
So far, I've lost to the AI so to me its challenging. I'm not really a master of strategy games, but I do enjoy them. This game makes a good add to your library with its lower price.
- Haven't tried multiplayer yet.
- The extra history you learn is amazing and interesting.
- Worth its current price.
To me this game is a bit too "abstract" . . . not enough information available in game for each unit. You'll have to look it all up in the manual. It is aethstetically pleasing, but overall the game play is a bit boring to me, even considering the price. There are a very limited number of units available, and not really much to do during your turn. Choose a unit, move it, attack with it . . . it all ends up being very limited in strategy and game play.
Pretty lame. nothing new or interesting or novel here. Glad i only blew $10.

I love hex-and-counter tabletop wargames, but I'm often disappointed by their digital cousins. So I was pleasantly surprised to find that John Butterfield has created an absolute gem of a game that really combines the best of both worlds.
Battle of the Bulge plays exactly like a tabletop game, only better. It has the simplicity of form that is such an important part of the appeal of tabletop wargames, and which is also the key to their success as historical simulations. Battle of the Bulge takes a solid wargame design in this tradition, and adds just enough digital bells and whistles. The random number of turns in each game day is a particularly neat aspect of the design.
I do have a few criticisms.
The game shows its origins as an iOS port. There are no tooltips or hotkeys, which would really speed up play. There are also some graphics issues. Although the game looks great in general, it can be tricky to make sense of the terrain without zooming all the way in. Bridges and towns in particular are easy to miss. It should be possible to select groups of units; moving three units down a road together shouldn't take seven clicks.
Information isn't always presented in the most helpful fashion. There's no reason for battle pop-ups not to be expanded by default, and without tooltips there's no easy way to check which combat modifiers will apply except for moving units into a space and then undoing. I had to play a few games before I really understood how reinforcements arrive. Some kind of reminder on the main screen of where reinforcements are inbound and what special rules are in effect would be a huge improvement.
The AI is fine, but could use refinement. I didn't notice big differences between the commanders, and after a few games you'll be stomping them flat anyways. The AI does have an annoying tendency to abandon important spaces; I've frequently seen it vacate Liege to disastrous effect. Multiplayer is where a game like this really shines anyways.
There's also a whole kampfgruppe of obnoxious bugs on the loose, but I'm trusting that they'll be destroyed by superior developer airpower once the weather clears.
This is a fabulous game and I can't wait for the next installment in the series, one of which is designed by my very favorite game designer Ted Racier. (Hey, Ted! How about a digital version of Case Yellow, 1940?) I hope that other wargame designers will take notice of Battle of the Bulge and try something similar. This really could be the future of wargaming.

I've been wargaming for about 30 years. So I'm kinda used to how turn base play is supposed to go. Being only able to control one sector per turn is so limiting it's comical. It's like this game was programmed by a jr high computing class. Only 1 hour in and I'm going to delete it. Wish I could get my money back on this stinker.
Despite the simplicity and generally appealing look, this game fails to deliver.
- The AI is terrible, absolutely terrible, regardless what 'personality' or which scenario is chosen. It doesn't hold good ground, it has no idea how to buy time or build for a counterattack, and on the attack it has no idea how to prosecute an offensive. Choosing the Axis side in 'Bitter End' should be brutally hard, but by singlemindedly advancing on Verviers, Liege and Namur you can permanently cripple the Allies through squatting their reinforcement zones (don't forget to send one of your weaker mechanised divs to capture Arlon and shut down their southern reinforcements as well). Playing the Allies, the AI German strike is poorly focussed and easily stymied - and they will respond to your buildup of force on their flanks in no way at all.
- The map's tiny.
- Axis, 'Bitter End': from 24th December on the game processes every other day as 'Two consecutive passes, day over' without actually giving you a chance to move.
- The premise of the game (area activation of units) promotes force concentration over dispersal to far too great a degree.
- Too much is left to the clock - time advances with little relation to what's happening on the map.
- Various graphical and interface bugs (sudden shaking, erroneous popups) should really have been ironed out before release.
At first the low price made me a bit suspicious of this title. However I had promised myself that I would purchase it when it came out and am I ever glad I did! This game is very well balanced, has great atmosphere and is very well scaled. The mechanics are simple like chess but the game itself is hard to master. You will keep coming back for more trying out new strategies and new plans.
When all is said and done you will have an intimate knowledge of the Battle of the Bulge from an operational standpoint. I hope that this develloper, no strike that! I encourage this develloper to continue this series as I would love to see this scale and boardgame mechanics for the likes of D-Day, Stalingrad and so many others!
If you enjoy boardgame style wargames get this title. For the asking price it will be a very good buy! Enjoy!
I’ve been a war gamer for while from starting out on Panzer and Allied General to Time of Wrath, Unity of Command to Hearts of Iron, Frontline Longest Day and CoH.
Battle of the Bulge doesn't work for me around the movement of your troops. In general it seems to force you to commit your move on each individual section and then advances the time clock. Normally both in turn based games and to reflect real life over a set period of time all your units should be able to move at the same time and then the clock should advance. However when playing the AI the same rule doesn’t seem to apply to the AI units as they seem to move simultaneously which makes the game impossible to win!
I found this game very frustrating and annoying and therefore would not recommend it!
Careful, the game is quite short (be aware there is only ONE map to play at this point of time), the game is pleasant and quite different from anything I know. Port from mobile platform doesn't feel too awkward.
It seems at first that Unity of Command would be the most similar wargame I know of, but the feeling is quite dissimilar and the scope as well. Playing with the same reflexes will get you defeated sharpish.
AI is quite competent, and you can choose the personality and style of your opponent.
I would still recommend Unity of Command over this game, but as more campaigns will probably be available... who knows what it will become!
The most accessible WW2 wargame I've ever come across. Hardcore grognards may scoff at the "streamlined" nature of the affair, but for those of us just looking to move some tanks around and dip our toes in, this is a must-buy, particularly given the discount price.
I've played about eight rounds of the first scenario today, which is several more times than I've played most other wargames at all. Highly recommended!
Dificult to understand how to advance if you're not the AI. All depends on chance (with the dice against you, even with big advantages you almost never win, while the AI almost always wins). Very short time of play, the battle is over before you know it and as allies you will lose the game before most of your troops are able to move or fight (because of no enemies in the same spot)... Maybe a more advanced tutorial could solve the problem, but I'm thinking the problem is in the gamedesign itself...

Battle of the Bulge is a turn-based strategy game where the player take control of either the Allied or the Axis powers in the famous and bloody Battle of the Bulge.
How does is play?
The game is divided into turns which represent the passage of time. Every turn you activate all of your units in one region and move them. If you move them into a space with enemy units there is a battle. Easy, right? Well, to make things more interesting, the game is also divided into days. Every day consists of many turns, and no units can be moved twice in one day. This isn't even getting into the supply lines, crossing river, artillery, air support, on and on and on.
The game holds a lot of complexities, but is very easy to play. The tutorial teaches you everything you need to know in about half an hour and points you to where you can learn more specifics. It can be played by anyone, but takes work to master.
The AI is very good at the game. Of the three games I played I only won one game (the one from the video). hat being said, I loved them all. Every descision matters and the AI is good at keeping you on your toes.
Overall, I loved this game. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys military strategy. This one will keep you thinking. Oh, and it has multiplayer as well if you are a military genius and think the AI is too easy.

Recommended as an enjoyable strategy game, that retains the strategic and historical depth of much more expensive wargames, while being very approachable and fun to play. Given the quality and the price, I would rate this a must buy for wargamers, history buffs or anyone who enjoys a fun and challenging diversion that might actually teach you a little something into the bargain :)
Magnífico. Si te gusta la estrategia por turnos no debes perdértelo.
Tiene un tutorial muy explicativo. Las mecánica es sencilla. Podrás mover cada día tus unidades una sola vez, bien desplazándolas hacia zonas que desees ocupar y se encuentren libres de enemigo o atacando aquellas en las que ya se encuentre el mismo.
Durante cada día de la batalla podrás ejecutar varios turnos que durarán un tiempo aleatorio en función de las decisiones que tomes. Deberás pensarte bien cuál adoptar para encontrarte preparado en sucesivos turnos.
Diversos sucesos aleatorios refuerzan la experiencia de juego, Unidades que carecerán de combustible y no podrán moverse, refuerzos, etc.
Los gráficos están muy conseguidos como se aprecia en las imágenes y la música y el sonido ambiente te envuelven en la batalla.
Modos un jugador y multijugador.
Y además está completamente traducido al español, incluyendo una amplia guía de la batalla real que lo hace más inmersivo si cabe.
Imprescindible. 10/10.
well, i m still only into the second day of the campaign but so far i d say this game is excellent.
clear tutorial, simple but good game mechanics, clear interface, nice graphics, fun and thought provoking gameplay.
i particularly like the fact that you can only move units from one region only per turn. means you have to think very carefully about your priorities.
also, the full campaign has an option for initial random distribution of units thus adding to replay value.
its early days but so far i d give this game full marks.
