To be honest, it's kinda 'meh'...
It's slow, the questions are a bit naff and it's so annoying when you're unable to skip how everyone voted at the end - it eats into time playing and makes the game tedious. We only ever manage 1 or 2 rounds before getting bored. I really wouldn't bother.. not even if it's on sale... not even if it's free!
Game is not "Awkward" as the title suggests. The questions are really tame and boring, with nothing awkward or NSFW at all, and that was with us playing on ultra awkward mode.
The game requires all players to have access to the keyboard or a controller, as it's all about guessing the other player's answer and there's no website for people to join the game and actually submit their answers.
There's definitely potential. The game is well-made, and I enjoyed seeing the player statistics at the end of each question, but there's just a lack of thought put into how this game actually operates online. And no fun twists like double points or unexpected game modes.
Also! We ran into a bug where after completing a game and going to the menu, the Discord button appeared as [code]<sprite name="">DISCORD[/code]
Big hopes for Awkward 2 to improve upon this game, but for now I'll be refunding.

Awkward lives up to its premise of posing divisive questions to those who play them. In streaming the game like I have, the host should be ready to give their viewers explanations and personal reasons to make their decisions quantifiable. (Luckily, I haven't lost any friends over it… yet.) It does offer camera support; however, running other programs that make use of that resource (e.g. OBS, Windows Live Camera) will have you organizing a workaround so your face can be seen on screen.

It's good. There are things that could've definitely been improved upon, but I personally like what's here.
Although I like the Twitch integration & it works well-enough with the chat, I do wish the game capture window was adjustable so that you could make the window with the game capture full-screen. The window with the actual game playing in the Live Show mode is too small otherwise. Seeing that I'm already using my own personal overlay on Twitch, I don't need the in-game overlay that's provided (although it's a nice option).
This is a fine enough game to play solo as well if you're interested to see how well you poll compared to everybody else that participated for this game, but it's only something I recommend you play in short spurts if you have nothing else to do. I'm sure this game when played with others locally is fine too, but I wish there were more to do online.

Edit: Since my original post, the server has indeed been fixed. My friends and I now continue to enjoy the game and recommend it for people who enjoy party games that can spark interesting conversations. Looking forward to the release of Awkward 2, as the demo shows great promise.

Original review: My friends and I really like this game, but it's currently broken because the result comparison's are always 50/50 (had this problem on 2 separate occasions). I've tried reinstalling the game, but the problem remains. I cannot find any support or fixes for this problem. (the steam forum is dead and the creators seem to be focused on Awkward 2)

Super funny game, but can't play multiplayer over something like discord. Everyone needs to be in the same room around the same keyboard to play (especially if only 2 people). Hopefully they fix this for the second game!!
How can this be positively compared to Jackbox productions? This is for the most shallow, vapid, egocentric and frail ego people on the planet. How can you ever have an argument over who has the nicer butt in a relationship, or a change in their body? We played through 3 times in coop, romantic, and just questioned the humour of the game the entire time. We've played a lot of You Don't Know Jack.....this is not even a shadow of those games. That being said, I didn't mind the visual style of the game, or simplicity of the menu and commands. I try to find something positive to say, developer keep creating but try for more depth.
Really disappointing that this is local multiplayer only unless streaming where the multiplayer is not what i expected.

Awkward ist ein Fragenspiel, dass man mit mehreren Personen oder auch als Streamer mit seiner Community über Twitch Integration zusammen spielen kann. Hier werden Fragen gestellt, die der Streamer beantworten muss und die Community muss dann erraten, wie der Streamer wohl abgestimmt hat.
Leider gibt es viele Übersetzungsfehler und dadurch oft keine klaren Fragen, auch wirklich schlimme Fragen, die das Spiel ankündigt, sind auch nicht vorgekommen. Dadurch haben wir nach 2 Runden keine große Lust und Freude mehr gehabt und das Spiel zurück gegeben.
This game seemed like it had a lot going for it but did not meet my expectations. If you are expecting a game like jackbox you will be disappointed. none of the questions were awkward at all after playing multiple games...
I love this game, I play it on twitch with my viewers and it has created some absolutely hilarious moments.

As other People mentioned before, the questions are pretty tame, we only played on super awkward and it was never once ...you know Awkward. Which is fine imho, it can be funny at times, thats why that isnt my biggest complain.
My biggest Problem in the game is how long and drawn out everything is for no reason. After every question you get this chart of results with what other people said and 50% of the time these are pointless. "Who is funnier" that might be a good question for me and my wife but then the charts comes up with "who is funnier, you or your partner" and then you see the result with "you and your partner" like how does this matter? That is not a "oh look so many people said that moment". You cant skip or turn these of either. Then there is this animation that shows you how much percent you got "right" its always the same and no one cares but again you cant skip it.
Another little complaint is, the game isn*t made for controllers for some reason i don*t understand, which makes it a pain in the ass to play with steamlink for example.
Also, everytime you start a new round you have to put in the names of the people again, which is a tiny complaint but still is annoying. Also 13 Euro is to much for this game, it could be around 6.99 maybe.
Pretty boring, would be a great game if the questions were more extreme: more raunchy, more controversial, less apples to apples more cards against humanity...

It is just as controversial as it can get. However, I still think everyone can answer honestly to those questions. I like to hear what people have to say and listen to their opinions so.. I really enjoyed this game. It also worked well with streaming it on Twitch! It was a lot of fun, it's also a good game to play with your friends. Awkward ist ein sehr geiles Spiel für die ein oder andere Saufnacht oder wenn man mal Bock hat ein bisschen Deeptalk zu führen. Wenn man das Spiel mit guten Freunden spielt sollte man aber den nicht so spannenden Modus einfach überspringen und gleich zu den Super Awkward Fragen gehen. Leider wiederholen sich die Fragen jetzt langsam nachdem Ich 13h mit denselben Leuten gespielt habe. Um also noch mehr aus dem Spiel rauszuholen, habt möglichst den ein oder anderen Freund mehr als Ich.
Streamer mode is great, easy interaction and integration without requiring additional programs or outside sites.
It's just not very interesting. The most hard-hitting questions are incredibly tame. Any couple with a decent relationship won't find this game 'awkward' at all, it's just a rapid-fire QA session about pizza toppings with a couple moral philosophy 101 questions thrown in.

Vor allem freut es mich, das es sich mittlerweile auch in Deutscher Sprache spielen lässt.
Remotefähig ist das Spiel auch. Ich hoffe das es auch in Zukunft weiterhin fragenupdates oder DLC´s geben wird.

I think it is a great game, only played it twice on my stream, but played it on Sir_Electrics stream a few times.
I think it has great questions, which helps chat get to know the streamer in a whole new way, these sort of questions you would never ask normally in chat.
I saw a review saying the questions are tame, try the Super Awkward mode and you will see they are definitely not tame.
Overall good game, hopefully we will see some updates in the future.

I have a LOT of fun playing this game. I love that the chat has the opportunity to interact and can be open for a discussion after answering. One thing I would like to be seen done is more REALLY awkward questions. No holds barred! LOL
Having already seen "Awkward" on Twitch last year, I already knew of the potential that the game held. Then it was time to give it a try after all at the end of last year. My friends and I, we felt well entertained. The game principle isn't that new, but the whole presentation is pretty well done and the one or other question actually initiates a discussion that you wouldn't have had otherwise in the foreseeable future. Like when you're asked if parents should sacrifice their lives to give their own child a donor heart or if teachers should have guns in school to protect their students. lol.
So even if it seems more like a game for pure entertainment, it really is a way to get to know your peers a bit, somehow. Especially in times of a worldwide pandemic, where you don't or can't permanently meet. And chatting isn't always an alternative. D:
We've now played "Awkward" a few times in the last weeks and are actually already planning the next round. Let's see what super awkward questions will await us then. I am curious. o_ô)7

So I own the game on PC and PS4. I really enjoy playing this game solo with friends or with my life partner. I can't wait for another one like it or something similar. I stream the game once in awhile and recommend to my viewers to get is to play as well. SnapFingerClick keep up the awesome work.

Es gibt sehr viele Karten, die mit den richtigen Leuten zu super witzigen bis tiefgehenden Gesprächen führen können. Ich habe es jetzt schon einige Stunden mit anderen gespielt und es macht immer wieder Spaß. Außerdem erfährt man selbst über den*die eigene*n Partner*in noch einiges neues. ;)

I enjoyed playing the game and think it depends a lot on who you play it with. The most exciting element is the disputes that arise while questioning your partner as they are very general or incomprehensible. In the same way, you get a slight idea of the thoughts concerning the person you are playing with. On the other hand, the questions tend to be boring.

I really, really wanted to like this game. With the credentials of creators who worked on Quiplash, Fibbage 2, Buzz! and It's Quiz Time I really expected a LOT more from this game. It doesn't play anything close to as fun as the trailer makes it appear. It's basically just some basic questions and you have to share a controller, no mobile phone integration. That made it really awkward with just a wired keyboard. We played 3 games before all of us agreed we should just refund. Might have been OK at $5 NZD, definitely not worth $15.49 NZD. Pick up a Jackbox Pack or It's Quiz Time instead.
Have to say, for a game entitled "awkward" i was expecting more divicive questions causing people to question their own morals or pit two opposing morals against one another.
This game however is incredibly tame when compared to other games such as fibbage or split the room from Jackbox.
The most awkward question we came across from an hour of playing through was whether we agreed with the "me Too" movement, a movement encouraging women to come out about their rape and sexual assaults.
Extremely worrying that 46% of people don't believe that these issues should be discussed.
We found that the asthetic was aimed at the younger generation but the questions were designed for people at least 30-35+.
The sequences are long and cumbersome to the gameplay and the music and sound effects are deafeningly loud with no option to turn them down.
In conclusion, this game doesn't know who it is or who it's trying to appeal to. we had more conversation about how un-awkward and un-entertaining the game was than about the actual questions. Also You get and achievement every 30 seconds. not much of an achievement

Seemed like a fun idea but poorly executed. Bland questions are neither funny nor awkward and the game has no real sense of style. It's a shame, but you're better off picking up Jackbox.

It suffers from the same problems as some of the JackBox games do, it tries too hard to be funny without leaving any room for the player to be funny. We were hoping that the different game modes (based on the number of people playing the game) would help mix things up a little, but they all just variations on the same 50/50 guess. Ho hum.
Great party game. If you've played any of the Jackbox games then you know what to expect. Understand, though, its best for local play with friends physically in the same room. Funny to see those chuckleheads either saying that the questions are too politically incorrect, or they're too tame? What is it guys? The first round is always normal questions, and every round it gets more awkward, not too hard guys?? Anyway, the game is polished and extremely fun to play. Well thought out dynamics and gameplay. This is a great game for drinking nights with friends or if you're just bored with your family. This game is unbelievably funny and will cause you to cry with laughter or make you feel like you don't know where to look. I like that it's not censored at all!
The questions start quite normal in the first round, but the last round can be absolutely brutal with at least one or two questions that are absolutely WTF! Don't play this if your too sensitive though. Game sessions are nice and short, so you'll just keep going through the game again and again. Haven't seen any question repeats either. Recommended, perfect as a drinking game.

At first, the questions seem tame enough, but by the final round, you may find yourself in some very uncomfortable situations.
The game has a solo mode for playing alone, which sees you trying pick the answer that the rest of the world has gone with. It can be entertaining seeing how you line up with the majority, but the game really shines when playing with a group of people, either locally, or via the interactive Live Show mode. The group dynamic opens up a range of discussions you never thought you'd ever have (or wanted to have!), and adding your own twist on it with something like a drinking game is sure to spice up the Awkwardness even more!

This game is very fun to play on a stream!!! After the first round my viewers voted for another, and after the second they wanted even another one. The camera feature it very cool, and I like that it shows the recent follower and sub as well! Very cool integrations.

So what is Awkward?
It's a simple yet addictive opinion guessing game. It's fun with a friend or partner but should be most fun in a group where you try to do better than the others. I found the comparison with the "rest of the world" to be less interesting than I had hoped, so I can't really recommend playing solo.
Final verdict: Wait for a sale!
Strongest point: A game in your steam library you can play with any person. Plus: Geat artstyle.

First off, the game's title leaves you expecting something more along the lines of Cards Against Humanity, but does't really deliver on that level. Instead, there is a slow build to some mild levels of awkwardness, the worst being who you would save first from a sinking ship (your significant other or your mother) or if you;d ratrher have dinner with an ex or Hitler. However, this game is more about knowing yourself, the others playing, and in the case of solo mode the world around you as the topics get a little more personal by the third set of each round.
Now, I'll admit, I have not played this on-line yet, or even in local co-op, and have only played a total of seven games. This game apparently has 5000 questions so the surface hasn't even been scratched yet. But even as a single player experience, this game relies more on how interesting the end result is, conparing your confority level against the others who play the game and showing you just how good a person you are, or how many others feel like being total ♥♥♥♥♥ as well. What you think is the most logical answer winds up not being your neighbor may do in the same situation, and in a psychological level it keeps you coming back for more to see how similar or different your mind and actions are to everyone else.
As it stands, this is definitey something I'd recomend picking up. There's also plenty of room for additional material down the line. I hope that the devs include an option for steam users to incorporate the workshop function to add more, crazier cards to the mix, or at least updates or DLC with new card bundles to keep the party going when the initial 5000 cards are eventually exhausted. Hopefully the devs do continue to support this game, and this isn't the end we'll hear about Awkward.
This game has a ton of great things going for it. Visually appealing, simple layout, live interactions are great. Shows user names zip across screen as they input their votes. The chat integration is super slick. Literally chat just types "A" or "B" and it counts their vote. I really, really wanted to enjoy this game, however. It's lack of sound cues don't really sound impactful to build up an answer reveal, the answers are only ever A or B so it's always 50/50 and the majority of questions are a snoozefest. I played a total of 4 games and only maybe one per game was really "awkward"
