Around the World in 80 Days, developed by Mzonestudio and published by M.INDIE, is a casual hidden-object adventure game inspired by the classic novel of the same name. It invites players to embark on a globe-trotting journey with Phileas Fogg and his loyal servant Passepartout as they attempt the ambitious challenge of traveling around the world in eighty days. The gameplay primarily revolves around exploring beautifully illustrated scenes set in a variety of iconic locations, solving straightforward puzzles, and uncovering hidden objects while managing occasional obstacles along the way. This title offers a relaxed experience suited to fans of casual puzzle games and those intrigued by the nostalgic appeal of Verne’s story.
The game features 22 unique locations, spanning a diverse range of cultural and geographical settings such as London, Suez, Bombay, Calcutta, Hong Kong, Yokohama, and San Francisco. Each area is crafted with detailed backgrounds that strive to evoke the spirit of adventure and discovery associated with global travel during the late 19th century. The artwork in these scenes is generally clear and high-resolution, contributing to a visually pleasing and immersive experience. In addition to the core hidden-object challenges, the game mixes things up with occasional mini-games and varied tasks, such as shape-matching or simple card games, that help break the monotony and add a bit of variety to the progression.
Mechanically, the gameplay loop centers on methodically searching for items from a list, utilizing limited hints to assist when stuck, and piecing together clues that propel the journey forward. The interface includes helpful features like zooming in on intricate parts of scenes to catch small details, and the presence of stars hidden throughout levels offers extra incentives in the form of bonus hints or additional time. Multiple profiles are supported, which is a convenient touch for households or players wanting to revisit the game with fresh perspectives. This setup reinforces the game’s approachable nature, making it accessible to casual gamers or newcomers to the hidden-object genre.
Despite these strengths, the game’s scope and depth are somewhat limited. After completing the initial run through all the locations and puzzles, replay value diminishes quickly, as there are few incentives or variations to encourage repeated playthroughs. The puzzles and hidden-object challenges themselves tend to lean towards the easier side, which can make the experience feel overly forgiving or even repetitive for seasoned players. The narrative, while a charming framing device, remains light and somewhat superficial, offering little in terms of character development or engaging plot twists. The game leans more on the ambiance and travel-themed aesthetics rather than a compelling storyline.
From a technical perspective, Around the World in 80 Days is competent but unremarkable. The visuals are generally well executed for a game of its scale and price point, but there are occasional issues with clarity, such as font size or zoom limitations that can make text and details harder to read on some displays. Animations and transitions between scenes are modest and functional rather than impressive, and the overall polish doesn’t quite match up to higher-budget titles in the same genre. These shortcomings, however, are understandable considering the game’s indie origins and budget constraints, and they don’t seriously detract from the core experience.
Ultimately, Around the World in 80 Days delivers a straightforward and pleasant hidden-object adventure that should appeal most to casual players, fans of the original literary work, or anyone looking for a low-pressure puzzle game with a travel theme. It’s a relaxing journey through iconic locations filled with atmospheric artwork and light challenges, but it doesn’t strive to innovate or deeply engage players beyond its core mechanics. For those seeking a deeper, more complex adventure or a hidden-object game with substantial narrative or gameplay variety, this might feel somewhat limited. Still, considering its accessible gameplay and reasonable price point, it’s a worthwhile pick for a relaxing and visually charming escape inspired by one of literature’s most enduring adventures.

Around the World in 80 Days

Well I have mixed feelings about this one tbh, but i'm more on the negative side than the good side. Even though it has some challenges, the game is overall pretty easy. Also it gets very repetitive since most puzzles are pretty much the same. It's also pretty lackluster in general terms, it lacks details in the representation of characters particularly and other areas of the game.
Around the World in 80 Days
Around the World in 80 Days is a free mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as a paid product. It's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. The game is a simple Jule's Verne themed hidden object puzzle game with a lame, badly translated French adaptation of the story tacked onto the front. It's a lazy, broken mess, and typical for this "developer". Here's some fun trivia, though. Some years after the book was published, a woman attempted the trip and did it in far less than 80 days, in fact she had time enough to spare that she went to France and interviewed Jules Verne. The more you know. Anyway, this game is garbage, and it's another insult to Jules Verne from Microids, who should probably step away from the gaming industry if they're going to keep dumping out this trash.
From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The game only displays in a 4:3 aspect ratio, making me wonder what a terrible time mobile peasants must have had trying to play this on their iPhones.
The game features mostly static, barely animated 2D images, the kind of thing you expect to see in browser/flash games. While the artwork itself, while mediocre, might be considered passable, the visual presentation here is negligible, it might as well be a slideshow or a Youtube video. Pac-Man, Space Invaders and Asteroids had more advanced animation and visuals going on than this game does.
The implementation here is of such poor quality, the developer couldn't work out how to make the game display in fullscreen properly. There's a fullscreen mode, but this doesn't work properly, it just seizes your screen and then displays the game in a small part of the top left of your monitor. It's evident no testing was done for this game on modern PCs, but then again, this is a mobile app, so what do we expect?
Because this is a mobile app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the game was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The game is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
The poor quality of this game is reflected in the general public reception. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 6 players. That's right, only 6. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in the game is to be expected. Gamers just didn't take this low quality game seriously, and for good reason.
Once more we see greedy mobile devs trying to scam PC gamers. On Steam, this is $2 USD, on app stores, it's free. Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay a premium for a free mobile game just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers. Because this can be played free elsewhere, and because of the other defects, it's impossible to recommend. Who do they think we are?
Old school HOG game very repetitive nothing fancy but like it still. I would recommend pick up on sale
Great fun!

for 15 cents on sale its playable and finishable in 2 hours.
mediocre "click on hidden pictures" game.
This is a simple hidden object and puzzle game. First issue is that it is a short game. Graphics are outdated. It may be much better. There are some bugs in the hidden object puzzles, i.e. there do not exist all of ten bottles.
However, I do like the puzzles and enjoyed playing. Recommended on sale.

Around the World in 80 Days - квест-приключение от французских разработчиков Mzonestudio, изданное небезызвестной студией Microïds Indie.
Around the World in 80 Days, как и в прочих играх студий, выстроен по принципу очередного классического квеста с элементами point and click.
Steam
Around the World in 80 Days

Delightful little HOG! Great fun! Totally enjoyed it!
Spel blijft na een paar uren hangen. Voorwerp laat zich niet aanklikken. Simpel zoekspel, avontuur moet je zelf verzinnen!
was lots of fun
NICE GAME
its good
A cute concept, but poorly executed.
For starters, the number of times I have to click twice on an item for it to recognize my selecting it is quite irritating.
On several occasions I ended up having to request a hint, only for the game to circle an empty spot, that once clicked, counted as correct.
It has the common bizarre flaw of having multiple items that the same word could refer too in the same puzzle, but only one of them counts. (In one instance it asked for a trunk. When I clicked on what was clearly a large trunk, no go. When I clicked on a large basket however, that was correct.)
There was also a strange puzzle with a variety of spices that I was expected to recognize on sight. I'm not sure about most people, but cumin? I ended up just clicking around the map at random until I discovered which pile of stuff was rice, pepper or paprika.
It also has the odd format of only showing you a few of the names of the items you are looking for at a time which is pretty irritating.
It all combines to make a less that praiseworthy effort. One thumb down.
EXCELLENT game for lovers of Hidden Object! Super low price gives you a neat, historically correct story with beautiful art, clever hiding of objects, good atmospheric soundtrack and clever mini games! You have the option to drag the screen or zoom in (to find things) and accrue hints in the form of little gold stars found in scenes. Highly recommend this game!
Good game but short. I got it on sale, so it was worth it.
its nice game but wait for sale
This is probably one of the easiest games I've ever played. I think this game was made for kids. I don't mean it in a bad way, it's just if you want a bit of a challenge and if you want puzzles that make you "think", I would not suggest this. BUT, if you want something easy to play just for fun and to relax, go for it. You can even play this while you watch a movie or something.
to be honest for a game that was originally released in 2005... not bad... just consider the age and that all HOGs changed...
pros.
ok story
no crashes despite being very old.
cons
kinda short (a bit more that 2 hours for the main story)
no bonus story
low quality graphics
no wide screen support
no voice acting
there is a type of a very frustrating matching/find puzzles with cards where you are not allowed to make any mistake. if you make any mistake after fining lets say 15 cards and miss-click ALL will reset. pretty much exaggerate for a simple puzzle :/
despite all the cons i have mentioned and considering the age of this game, i still recommend it. just get it on sale or from a bundle. even full price is not much but still wait for a sale :)
6/10
Dumb game that I regret buying. The programmers did a poor job. At one point you will get to a location where you need to click on an object, and no matter how many times you click on the right object, nothing happens. This prevents you from finishing the game (yes, I used the hint button too). And restarting the game isn't a good option, since you are already far into the story. I've seen someone else in the forums complaining of a similar issue. Was going to recommend this game when it is on sale, but such mistakes are simply unacceptable. Unfinished, with bugs that make the game unwinnable. Avoid, even for the low price. No one should pay money on a broken game you can't win.
Króciutka, dość łatwa do przejścia HOPA, jednak dzięki muzyce dość relaksujaca i odprężająca. Polecam, jednak tylko podczas duuużej przeceny :)
This game might not be what many others want, but it is precisely what I wanted and expected from HdO. An excellent hidden object game. They're the best at it. Besides, I paid a mere $0.49 for it, on sale from Steam. An excellent choice.
pros
+ nice looking colorful background graphics
+ the hidden object scenes enjoyable
+ hint system helpful
+ a few puzzles enjoyable
+ there is auto save
+ story based on Jule Verne's classic novel
+ game is cheap
cons
- frustrating unskippable card puzzles. You have to look for certain types of cards such as spades or odd numbers. If you make a mistake and click on the wrong card, then the puzzle resets to the beginning and you have to find the same cards you just found all over again.
- some of the puzzles are not properly explained before you have to deal with them therefore generally you don't know how to solve them
- there are some annoying unskippable memory puzzles. If you make a mistake and click on the wrong card, then the puzzle resets to the beginning
- repetitive jigsaw puzzles. some of jigsaw puzzles not enjoyable but fortunately you can skipped them after a while.
- there are no voice overs
- after a while background musics getting repetitive
- there are no cards and achievements
- game is short
Overall as an casual game i found this game quite frustrating.
The puzzles that you have to complete are the exact same puzzle every time (flip or rotate these image pieces), so it goes stale after a while. After fully playing one of their games and jumping right into this one immediately after finishing that one- I lost interest about 20 minutes in. It's ok enough to get if it's on sale if you would like to try it.
so cool puzzle game with 11 baht. I bought it for my GF :)
10/10
This is a fun game for kids to play.
not the best, but is worth it if it's cheap/on sale!
Good Game. Try Classic mode. Play it.
Buen juego. Prueba el modo Clasico. Recomendado.
good game makes you think when you are doing the puzzles
Nice little hidden objects game, a bit too short (only between 2 and 3 hours), some of the puzzles are not properly explained before you have to deal with them, some of them are too simple, but overall not bad.
The one small snag is the use of modern elements near the end of the game (printed train tickets, printed payment slips, modern time Polish coins and bancnotes).
Einfaches Wimmelbildspiel. Kein Adventure.
'Around the World in 80 Days' is a little Point-and-Click adventure. The game is based on the novel by the French author Jules Verne, which was first published in 1873 under the French title 'Le Tour du monde en quatre-vingts jours'. The titel of this game speaks for itself. You will travel around the world in 80 days, looking for some items and thinking about riddles. This game is really low-cost but entertaining.
I’d probably go with a mixed review if I could. It’s not terrible, but it’s not that great either. I’ll give it a thumbs down because I was annoyed with the card puzzles. You have to look for certain types of cards such as spades or odd numbers. If you make a mistake and click on the wrong card, then the puzzle resets to the beginning and you have to find the same cards you just found all over again. This doesn’t just happen one time. There are several different card puzzles throughout the game.
Nicht zu Empfehlen.
Find hidden objects & solve some easier puzzles in different settings.
-----------------------------------------
Do Not play this game if:
- You have a life
- You prefer well written games
- You like Real puzzles
Play this game if:
- You have nothing better to do
- You like to search for things in bad graphics
- You don't care if the story you're told is badly written and all too familiar
Verdict: 4/10
Name of this game speaks for itself. You will travel around the world, looking the items and thinking about riddles. This game really low-cost, however you'll have a lot of pleasant hours.
Tricky one this. The graphics are dated; grainy and not very distinct. It doesn't work at all well in HD, and some of the puzzles are pretty annoying.
The story is simple and already pretty well known, but all the same I found it compelling enough to get to the end.
The hidden object scenes are hit-and-miss, with quite a few being the 'find 10 of these' type. The 'normal' HO puzzles are hampered by the graphic quality and in some cases unusual object selection. ('Piece of cloth' in a market scene, anyone?) Generally, though, they work ok, with a fair mixture of obviously overlayed items with one or two fairly well hidden ones.
The lack of cut-scenes and voice acting is, imo, a plus point here. Everyting flows pretty quickly and this makes things feel more varied.
I played all the way through in a single ~2.5 hour session (some time afk), and by the end I was really enjoying it.
Is it worth it? It's cheap enough; £1.70 for over 2 hours of mostly interesting gameplay is actually pretty good.
I'd recommend this at the price if you already know you like HO games. If not, it's very unlikely to change your mind about them. And if you are new to the genre it may even put you off completely.
This is basically a headache. If you want one you have found your game. I really hate the card puzzles and a few of the others..... But somehow I couldn't stop playing... I really wholeheartedly hate the card puzzles in this game. This is my new nemesis
