This is an ancient 2009 (feels older than that) 2D arcade "shooter" where you control wacky biplanes and loop-de-loop and shootat the other players who play this. Yes, both of them. This is seriously dead... sure, it actually had players 15 years ago, but those players saved up enough money to buy 3D graphics cards so now nobody plays it.
So, "Altitude" is a dead PvP game. Why did it fail? It's video game autopsy time!
[i]Most PvP games on Steam fail.[/i] Very few of them ever go viral. This game failed because the developer expected it to become "virally" popular without creating any actual reason or compelling features. This doesn't do anything that other games already do better.
Competition amongst PvP centric games is extreme, and there's only a finite player base to appeal to. This game failed to reach any kind of critical mass and died as a result. Let's go into some of the reasons this particular game failed to appeal to gamers, despite the zero up front cost.
First and foremost, there's no meaningful single player content. The developer gambled that other players would be an acceptable substitute for adding storytelling, level design etc to the Game. They lost that bet.
Without a huge community of players or single player content to add a lasting value to the game, the game dies.
Developers must learn that other players are not an acceptable substitute for adding content to a game.
This is barely any different from a browser game from the late 1990's, yet has been dumped on Steam Direct as if it's a modern PC game. This just isn't up to the quality standards expected from contemporary PC gamers. If I wanted to play "games" like this, I'd be searching for free browser games in Firefox, not looking for Flash tier games on Steam.
The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs and the latest 3D graphics cards to play 2D games. Even mobile phones and game consoles can do 3D graphics now. There's no excuse.
This game is ancient, it's over 17 years old... it's heavily dated and isn't going to give you a remotely contemporary gaming experience... another reason for gamers to be hesitant about adding this to their libraries.
Let's look at the price and what kind of value this actually offers gamers.
There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $10 USD for this.
Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded.
All other issues aside (any of which would disqualify this from being worth your time), this is a game that relies on other players for it to be viable, and because there's not enough players, it's not viable. I can't recommend anyone downloads this, it's basically dead.
This was an amazing game in its prime. Sometimes I wish lots of people played again since it's very community driven.

Один может сбрасывать бомбы, другой ведет огонь и спереди, и сзади, а третий и вовсе умеет телепортироваться. A lot of people played that weekend it was a lot of fun at the time because the game was sort of viral, but it died off pretty quickly.
I noticed it's now free which is probably best. It can be a couple of hours of fun as long as you have enough players.
It's a simple little arcade flying bomber game.
This game is very simple and fun, basically as long as the mouse operation can be, the mouse to launch bullets and props, the keyboard up and down keys to control the acceleration and deceleration. All in all it's a fun flying game.
Arcade arena games but you play as planes. Things making sure you don't stall matter a lot in this game.
The multiplayer servers are basically dead (the game is +15 years old so that's not a surprise) but the bot support is pretty good

Riprendo in mano questo gioco dopo più di 4 anni per completare gli achievement (conseguiti 39 su 52).
All'epoca era un piccolo gioiellino semisconosciuto che offriva un ottimo concitato multiplayer gratuitamente (modalità di gioco differenti, varie mappe, diverse tipologie di aereo e upgrade ai velivoli con un livello di esperienza accumulabile).
Ad oggi i server pubblici sono tutti vuoti a parte quelli Ranked negli Stati Uniti (minimo livello 40 per l'accesso e uno zoccolo duro di veterani difficili da eguagliare per i nuovi arrivati).
Purtroppo gli achievement si possono sbloccare solamente online e le partite coi bot non contano, devo così restare coi risultati conseguiti nell'agosto del 2020!
Valutazione positiva per quello che il gioco è stato nel passato, ad oggi è trascurabile a meno che non si abbia l'interesse di giocarlo semplicemente coi bot.

It was a really fun game back in 2010. Still is a pretty fun game to this day. It just needs players. The community has been dead for many years, but you would probably have fun playing for a while with a group of drunk friends. I still have nostalgia for this game. You could create your own maps for a few different game modes. But the most fun was just talking trash while playing some team base destruction or 1 life death match. RIP altitude.

It plays like a flash game and it's free. A few competitive modes and one active server you can join for multi however you've to be at least lv 40... Gameplay wise it's not bad but lack of servers and players makes it hard to recommend but still it's possible to play with bots. If you like those type of games you might wanna look into Jet Lancer which offers supreme shooting action with small planes.

Одним из главных достоинств игры является разнообразие игровых режимов. Здесь есть всё: от классического «Каждый сам за себя» до командных сражений за базу. Это позволяет каждому найти что-то по душе.
Особенно мне понравился режим «Plane Ball». Это что-то среднее между футбольным матчем и воздушным боем. Нужно управлять самолётом и забивать мячи в ворота противника, но при этом не забывать и о воздушных сражениях. Это очень весело и увлекательно!
Также стоит отметить качественную проработку персонажей. Каждый самолёт имеет свои уникальные способности и оружие, что позволяет игрокам выбирать наиболее подходящий стиль игры.

I remember this game from many years ago and it wasn't that bad but the servers are dead, no one really plays. There's just so much better recent games out there. Maybe try it if you really want to since it's free, but I'd just skip it.
Very nice little game. Easy controls, challenging dogfights, different gamemodes, different planes, there is something for everyone. Small active community so you'll play bots mostly. When you find people online they're very nice, very mindfull, very demure.

Generally simple but technical and fun mechanics. Battles can escalate from flying to the point peacefully to utter chaos on contact. Feels balanced with an incredibly high skill ceiling. It's a shame the game as so few players, but there is a small, friendly, consistent playerbase who will no doubt absolutely destroy you in online matches.

It is a really fun game where you can challenge yourself or just destroy some bots for the heck of it. there are a few game modes each of them very fun. It is just a really fun game
