Completely sucks. The controls are terrible, the features are almost non-existent compared to even the oldschool Baseball Stars 1 game. You have solo play and vs play in arcade mode and that's it. No making teams or player growth, just really bad baseball simulation.

- 현재 스팀에서 즐길 수 있는 몇 안 되는 90년대 야구게임이자, 90년대 대한민국 오락실에서 볼 수 있었던 야구게임 중엔 현재 스팀에 올라와 있는 유일한 게임이 아닐까 싶습니다.

- 그 당시의 수많은 야구게임들이 회사의 부도와 저작권 꼬임/라이센스 상실/기타 이유 등으로 대부분 재판매할 엄두를 못 내는 가운데, 아직까지 살아있으면서 구작 판매에도 진심인 SNK가 IP를 갖고 있고/실존 구단, 실존 선수 데이터를 전혀 사용하지 않아서 애초에 라이센스가 필요없는 게임인데다/아케이드 야구게임으로서 괜찮은 게임성(물론 추억보정 포함. 이걸 뭔 깡으로 이 가격에 올렸냐고 생각하시는 분도 있으실 듯)과 확실한 개성을 가진 게임이기에 지금까지 살아남아 스팀에 올라와 있는 것이라 생각합니다.

- 물론 요즘 시대에 정가 8500원 다 내고 구입할 급의 게임은 아니라고 생각하지만요...

- 게임 자체는 좋든 나쁘든 옛날 그대로로, 유일한 싱글 플레이 모드가 스킵도 없이 야구 시합을 계속해서(한두판으로 안 끝나고 꽤 깁니다) 벌여나가야 하는 리그전이 전부라 오락실에서도 이 게임의 엔딩을 보는 사람을 보지 못했습니다만, SNK가 이 게임을 스팀으로 내면서 세이브/로드/중간저장같은 걸로 이걸 보완하지 않은 결과 한번 게임을 껐다 키면 리그전을 이어할 수 있는 방법이 아예 없어서, 이 게임을 진지하게 잡아보려는 사람의 의욕을 분쇄기에 갈아버리는 매우 치명적인 단점이 되어 있습니다. 진입문턱이 높지 않은 이 게임 도전과제를 올클한 사람이 2% 정도밖에 안 되는 것만 봐도...

- 멀티 플레이 모드도 바로 옆에 있는 사람과 한 컴퓨터에서 1:1 대전하는 게 전부고 온라인을 통해 대전하는 루트를 열어주지 않은 게 아쉽습니다.

- 옛날 오락실용 게임을 별다른 추가요소도 없이 스팀으로 내면서 생겨난 치명적인 문제가 있지만, 게임 자체는 호감입니다. 비현실적인 면이 가득하지만 마지막 선은 또 넘지 않는 점도 그렇고, 극단적으로 확고한 기믹을 가진 각각의 팀들도 그렇고, 선수들 이름이 요상하긴 하지만 그래도 그 시절에 한국 대표팀을 넣어줬던 점도 마음에 들고. 무엇보다 깊이 생각하기를 요구하지 않고 복잡하지도 않은, 데드볼 참교육같이 단순하면서도 과장된 아케이드성이 좋습니다. 게임 내적인 이유로 엔딩도 도전과제 올클도 포기했지만 엄지척을 주는 이유입니다.

It's a good version of baseball stars 2. It's basic and fun. Main issue is that there is no save system at all. Which the arcade and other versions had. so it's really a bummer there isn't a pc version with that at all. Also controllers are a nightmare to get working for some. Using an 8bitdo pro 2, I had to disable steam input before it worked.

이게 스팀에 있을줄은 꿈에도 몰랏는데 이식이 잘되있어서 훌륭하다 분위기는 겁나 막장 야구 게임같지만 의외로 야구 게임의 기본을 매우 잘지키고 있는 게임 :) 데드볼 3번하면 벤치 클리어링이 재현된다

2D쪽의 황제 SNK 전성기 시절 아케이드 작품이고 2D에 거부감이 없고 고전 야구겜을 좋아한다면 이거보다 나은건 적을것이다 단점이라면 이닝이 좀 긴점이 있긴 하다만..

어쨋든 추천!

Arcade Baseball games used to be a thing in the 90's. Funny enough now in 2024 ther are only TWO options: this great port of "BASEBALL STARS 2" or "Super MEGA BASEBALL".

Só que com baseball.

O jogo poderia ter um SAVE, porque as campanhas são gigantescas de longas, e dificilmente você vai terminar uma temporada em uma única sentada. Apesar disso, mesmo partidinhas curtas de 1-3 jogos já irão te divertir.
Uma das coisas mais engraçadas do jogo é esmurrar o pitcher que te acertou ao arremessar.

I lost 16-0 using mouse and keyboard. If you play it I recommend you don't use a mouse and keyboard. As for things not relating to my lousy play I have to say that the graphics and presentation are awesome for what it is trying to do. As for any negatives well fielding is a bit basic and you kind of just need to let the AI almost handle it all itself. Also this isn't a real baseball sim and does not have real players and so you aren't going to get what you would from say Strat-O-Matic Baseball, Replay Baseball, Action! PC Baseball and so on. Hard to save stats when there is no save game option with this. Now even though you don't get everything with this game you still get entertainment. You get a nice arcade-like experience. I recommend this but only pick it up when it is deeply discounted.

合金弹头包里的FC游戏，棒球算是国内很冷门的体育运动了吧，和正规棒球比赛规则差不多吧，每个参赛队伍9个人，2个对抗队伍轮番攻守，进攻方队员跑回本垒得1分，九场下来分最多的赢。球队风格也有很多，进攻型，防守型，投手型和机动型等。可以轻击或者重击，全垒打还算简单。

Before you buy this sensational classic title, Please keep in mind that the save feature is 100% absent from this version of the game. I genuinely have zero idea why SNK thought it was a cute idea to remove this extremely vital feature, As it can actually make it possible for most regular people to complete the game. Instead, If your going for the World Championship game, You're gonna need some tremendous skill, timing, knowledge, and of course, time. It took me about 6 to 7 hours to fully complete this game, & yes, I took a shower after playing. My soul hurts, for the extreme limits the user has to go through just to beat this game, & the lack of the F***** save feature. If you're going for World Champion, Good Luck, & Godbless you.

모드 15경기 + 리그결승 1경기 총 16경기를 해야하는데 세이브기능이 없습니다. 꼼수방지를 위해서라면 한 경기가 끝날때라도 세이브를 시켜주면 되는데 지원이 안됩니다. 덕분에 엔딩을 보려면 몇시간 동안 지옥의 레이스를 뛰어야합니다. 장점으로는 오락실판과 다르게 시간제가 아니기 때문에 계속 동전을 넣어 이을필요가 없는 점입니다. 컨티뉴할때 파워업을 얻는데 컨티뉴가 없으니 난이도는 오락실판보다는 약간 상승했다고 봐도 무방합니다.

I've played this game so much as a kid that it got me to love baseball. But the lack of ability to save your game means that you'll never get to earn certain achievements that require you to play all games in the league, unless you leave your game turned on like the old fashioned way. Despite this, I still have lots of fun with this game. I feel lucky to have run into this on Steam.

I really want to like this game. I love baseball and videogames and the screenshot which implies fighting game portions or something really sold the deal for getting this.

But oh boy, so much wrong with this game.

It looks great and basically its a good effort.

But the controls are a pain, the AI is ruthless (and does impossible slides with no animation or anything (meaning they get a safe altough clearly not on base)) and there is no way to save progress in games or even inbetween games.

It's sad really.

여전히 재밌는데 치명적인 문제점이 세이브가 없음.
이 게임은 리그로 계속 돌리면서 하는 게임이라 세이브가 없으면 의미 없는 게임인데 좀 애매함.
스틱이나 키 입력도 가끔 인식 안될때가 있어서... 배트가 안 휘둘러 진다던지 하는 상황도 발생하고...

게임은 재밌는데... 애매합니다. 애매해....

So. Ich habe das Game jetzt eigentlich nur gezockt weil Steam mir das Innerhalb des Frühjahrsputz-Events vorgeschlagen hat. Auf der einen Seite gut, sonst hätte ich es wohl nie angefasst. Auf der anderen Seite habe ich halt mal sowas von keine Ahnung Baseball. Auch innerhalb der ersten Stunde habe ich nicht geschnallt wann ich den Ball wo hin zu werfen habe.
Aber wenn man von diesen Sport Ahnung hat, ist das sicherlich ein Tolles Stück Software. Ich für meinen Teil lege es jetzt zu den Akten...und spiele lieber Golf...oder so.

Auch wenn ich komplett keinen Durchblick hatte ist das Spiel nicht schlecht, ich war und bin einfach nicht mit den Baseball-Regular vertraut, aber dafür kann das Game ja nichts. Deshalb gibt's trotzdem eine Empfehlung.

小学生レベルの英語能力が有れば理解出来ます。

Xbox360コントローラーにフル対応している。
操作も簡単でBボタン１つで出来ます。
ただ試合モードは少なくペナントモード（試合数は分からない）と対戦モードしか無いです。
（ペナントモードにセーブ機能は無いかもしれません？）

フルスクリーンでプレイ出来、画像も以外と綺麗です。
BASEBALL ゲームが好きな方にはハマるじゃないでしょうか？
私はBASEBALL ゲームを良くしますが嫌いじゃないですね。

お勧めです。

If you thought Baseball Stars 2 was too easy then boy oh boy do I have a deal for you. For the low, low price of "way-too-much-money-for-a-broken-port" you can own yourself a special copy of Baseball Stars 2! It's like the original but you randomly throw to the wrong base because DotEmu can't do anything right! And if you order between now and the rest of time, because we all know they will never fix it, they'll throw in some glitchy options menu that don't work absolutely free of charge! Good luck getting the resolution to work.
Fix the game and go bankrupt you cowards.

I love this game so much! Arcade sports games are just the best sometimes! It's infuriating as all hell and the COM is almost certainly cheating but it's too addiciting not to reccomend.

I remember playing this at the local pizza joins and arcades in the 90s. ^_^ still nearly has fun. Its not really worth 7 or 10 bucks unless you have nostagia for it. But with that, Its still fun to pop in play a around or 2. I havn't spent much time on it mainly cause, it doesn't hold my attention very well. But still completely happy to have this part of my collection.

Oh, wow this game came out when?

1992. Such an odd blur of memories swims around in my head; hanging out with the kids on my street after school, playing Wolfenstein 3D with my neighbor, watching Ren and Stimpy as often as I could. It is all one big flannel coated memory with Nirvana and Criss Cross songs in the background. Now, I never had a Neo-Geo or an NES. All I had was my Dad’s 486 that could barely play Alone in the Dark. Baseball Stars 2 was completely off my radar, I even had to check the wiki page to see the history of it. Yet, here it is on Steam in all its glory. Will it still hold up after twenty-five years? I’m about to drink some pixelated kool-aid and find out.

[h1]Graphics[/h1]
With bright green and yellow hues predominating the screen, there is a rather nice hand drawn look to the splash screen. This extends throughout the game with what I consider well-colored pixel art even though it seems every character is smirking angrily as if they are part-time evil villains on the weekend.

It has a genuine baseball card feel to the art style along with perhaps a dated 80’s comic book look to each baseball player. There are animations throughout the game, including pitching, hitting, and the like. Don’t expect to have still graphics here, it’s entirely animated with slight movement throughout. Sometimes the graphic action moves a little too fast for me, as power-ups and player changeouts surprised me with the quick speed across my screen.

To my surprise, I can even play this in 4K. Granted, it looks the same as if I did in 1080p. I set the graphics to widescreen which squishes the players slightly but looks well enough. I’m impressed by the graphics options on a game this old. One caveat, I tried this on both my gaming PC and my laptop. Since my laptop is not 1080p, and the game uses cloud saving, it would not render properly on my laptop once I sent the graphics to 1080p on my gaming PC.

[h1]Sound[/h1]
It’s loud and arcadey with the occasional “BASE..BALL.STARS..2!” thrown into the music. It really does feel like the same type of music as the other Neo Geo games I have played like Metal Slug. I don’t really mind it, but once you play in single player mode you might be turning down the volume if you didn’t lower it already from the options menu

[h1]Gameplay[/h1]
When you start out you can play single-player or a two player local co-op. If you decide to play the single player, watch out. You have to play the entire playoff series in one full playthrough with no saves in between. Basically, you will be there to battle it out with six teams for several hours unless you decide to quit the game without saving.

There are two modes of gameplay, easy and hard. I recommend using the easy setting to start out with as it’s a whole lot easier to catch a ball in the field. From there, you get to pick your team. Take a look at the stats to see what team you prefer. This is somewhat important because those stats carry on into the game, meaning that teams that hit better, catch better, are evenly balanced and such will have those same advantages in the game. What is kind of nice is that none of these teams exist and Baseball Stars 2 has fun with that bit with such things as players named Mummy or Zombie if you pick the New York Monsters as a club. I imagine there are no license hoops to jump though because they omitted using real major league names in the game.

Right here is where the gameplay gets to the nitty gritty. It’s slightly basic in how you can hit or pitch. However, don’t think it’ won’t be hard. Pitchers throw curveballs, fastballs, slow balls, and everything in the middle. It can be exasperating to hit something. When you do, unless you are hitting a home run you will likely be out because the CPU is an expert at catching balls. I believe I only had one grounder that they missed, barely making it to first base. There are power-ups and player changeouts to play with too, so if you really need a homerun then use that power-up to knock it out of the ballpark. If your pitcher looks tired and the pitches are slowing down, change him out. Pitching was perhaps the only thing I was half decent at in this game. I could aim just towards the edge of the mound and switch up between fastballs and slowballs. Try as I might, I could not get a proper curveball to work. At best, I could shut out the opposing team for an inning. Mostly, though, they would hit a ball and I would miss the catch if I was too far from it.

Catching was perhaps the worst part of the game. The angle is super low, making it very hard to judge where to be when the ball comes crashing down. Also, if it hit to the back of the field you would have to scramble to catch it with players that felt disjointed as I controlled them all in one massive grab – usually falling flat. For the most part, they looked like foosball players all missing the mark repeatedly in unison. This went on and on as I missed those catches, making me want to cue some Benny Hill sax music. I usually lost big time in the pennant race, so if you play this I say play with a friend so that it evens your chances.

[h1]Final Thoughts[/h1]
It’s kinda fun. While I doubt I would want to play the single player again against all the teams in succession and no saves, the local co-op aspect of the game it pretty neat. I can see myself loading this up with a buddy and some beers to see who could win with these fielding controls. My Xbone controller had no troubles in the setup and frankly, it’s a decent port by Dot Emu. There are some funny moments when you hit a batter with a ball and he comes over to punch you in the face. That right there is golden.

While I would not say it’s a must-buy game, it is surprisingly well designed and holds up for a nice arcade experience from 1992. Despite its age and limited controls, I think I could find some fun with a friend and trying to catch balls from backfield – while not entirely sober. That’s well enough for me anyway.

예전에 잠깐 해봤던 게임인데 우연히 발견해서 세일할 때 구입해서 재미있게 하고 있습니다.

나온 지 오래돼서 그런지 최근에 나오는 야구 게임을 생각하고 플레이를 하면 심심할 수도 있습니다.

하지만 투수 구질 선택(방향키로 선택 가능), 도루, 대타 교체, 번트 등 웬만한 플레이는 할 수 있고

덤으로 아시아 팀을 선택했는데 서양인들로 구성된 희귀한 장면을 볼 수 있습니다.

다 좋은데 아쉬운 점이 있다면 일단 안타를 치면 1루타 아니면 홈런일 정도로 2루타, 3루타 치기가

힘듭니다.

I have fond memories of this game from my arcade-obsessed childhood, but it just doesn't hold up all these years later. The controls are a pain, the AI is brutal and specifically designed to screw you out of your quarters, and every match is just way too long. You can't save your progress, so it's just about impossible to complete a full campaign. I will say that the game still *looks* awesome to this day. The character sprites are big and have tons of personality. The animations are fluid and muscular; every character, every play, every movement, every little visual insert has this cartoony energy and style that the Neo Geo always showcased so well. I also love how the supposed Korean and Japanese players are just these huge white people who happen to have names like Jae Bok. But these aesthetic elements are really where the appeal of the game ends. If you want to pick this up for nostaglia reasons or just to appreciate the cool graphics, I can certainly understand that...but for everyone else, you're most likely going to find Baseball Stars 2 really outdated, hard to control, and a frustrating slog that just isn't all that fun to actually play.

A good poriton of this review will be singing the praises of the port of this game, more so than the game itself.

Baseball Stars 2 is a solid, albeit basic, 16-bit baseball game.

This version, however, is unique as it is more than a simple rom/emulator combo. The devs have taken the time to build a custom front-end menu. More importantly, they've actually changed the nature of the timer in the game.

Normally, you will see the timer counting down. As this was originally an arcade game, you only had 3 and a half-minutes of gametime. At which piont you would need to add another quarter. This behavior carried over to the home verson on the Neo Geo AES system.

With this port, thee timer starts at 0:00 and counts up. Maybe a minor rom hack, but a significant one that makes this the best possible version of the game. This minor tweak converts a game that was designed to eat quarters and turn around players quickly, into a more relaxed home experieence.

Utlimatelly, while I like the effort of the remade menu, I don't feel it's necessary, but the tweak to the timer is invaluable and really brings the game in line with what you'd expect from a console game.

The value proposition of spending $3-$10 for this game (regularly available in bundles and sales) is a personal call. Having lived through the days of the $200 Neo Geo games (not the console, but the actual game itself. One cartridge. And they couild cost over $1,000. Not adjusted for inflation), I find value in picking it up at one of the lower price points.

While this BASEBALL game has a few years on it, that doesn't prevent it from being a great arcade sports game where that involves bases, bats and balls. As with any BASEBALL game, pitching is way less fun than batting but that's a problem with the sport in general.

The attention to detail still shines strong with loads of minor animation details and great cutaway shots to highlight action. There is some input slippage while playing with an analog stick that will take some time to adjust to.

Game sometimes runs slower than the original one, menu was redesigned and lost all its feel to the original one. Now Neo Geo X seems the only legal choice to play this title like the old times.
