If you like social deduction games but want more depth than Among Us or ToS, this is it. The sheer number of classes makes every match unpredictable. You will be executed for being too quiet, and executed for talking too much. 10/10 would get accused of treason again. Great fun for free

I don't like how every single review ONLY talks about the player-base, so I'm writing this review. Overall, the game is worth trying out.
First up, yes, you won't find 100 random concurrent players at any given time. But the game does have a very loyal 20-something number of players who regularly play on Fridays and the weekends, every week at the same time (around 9PM CET). They're extremely forgiving with newcomers (to the point I literally griefed a game and they didn't really care) and are open to explaining how stuff works. Each class also has a "tips" section, which means it's quite beginner-friendly. It's honestly kind of nice for this to be a weekly rather than a daily thing for me, since it makes me look forward to it more. And, besides, the game's free. You're not spending money to have it stay on your backlog for a week, to then play it for 5 hours on a weekend.
As for the game-play itself, well, it's a mafia-style game. There's not much to say. I will say the number of classes and different abilities gets quite overwhelming for me in 16-player lobbies. Each player needs to claim a role and write what they did the night before, and you root out the impostors through examining their logs, or using your class's abilities. This can also feel a bit too much when there are 15 logs to examine, and 15 players to test. Some roles are unique (meaning there's only one in the game - if two people both claim as that role, it means one is lying), others aren't (which means having three medics doesn't really mean anything); some roles are immune to having their abilities disabled (which means that if you're posing as that role, you can't say your skill got disabled); some roles have clear tells (meaning it's bad to claim as them) - basically, a lot to keep in mind if you want to actually be good at the game. It can also feel almost like cheating when you meet someone who's actually good at the game and who's been playing for years, able to sniff out you're the killer on something insanely subtle. Also, like any mafia game, getting killed Night 1 is simply an inescapable part of the experience, which remains to feel like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in every game of this style I play.
Another thing I find overwhelming is that, unlike simpler games like Among Us where you can just "trust" someone is a crewmate and stick to them, in this game confirming a player is one of the good guys means nothing because the core mechanic of the game is that the Cultists convert Citizens into Cultists. Again, it makes it quite difficult to keep in mind that just because you confirmed someone is not lying Night 1 doesn't mean they're not lying Night 4. There's also a lot of stuff that messes with detection. For example, the Paladin class can find out whether someone is a cultist or not. But one of the cultist roles has the skill "Mindwarp", which makes it so the Paladin's investigation returns false positives. This means that even the most rudimentary, simple way of knowing whether someone is a Cultist or not still cannot be fully trusted. It's not even always the bad type of overwhelming, and I can definitely like it depending on the game. But it's important to know what you're getting into.
So, yeah, for a free game it's pretty much a no-brainer for me, I definitely recommend trying it out. You won't find games on workdays 99% of the time, but the small community on Discord plays this game literally every single weekend. You play with the same people every week and sort of get to know them; it's a nice feeling. Also, since it's a small community, there's zero chance of finding cheaters; I don't really know what the other reviews are on about. The game has a lot of depth and is fun to me for that reason. I've played for 20 hours already and still have no clue what I'm doing.
Okay listen up, i am going to tell a story. In a time long long ago this game had 30 or 50 people easily online! It was and a generally a good time. I went to win a lot after i understood what was good and what not. Then i faded a little away for years or so i did not play. When i came back the game was dead and nobody wanted to play, so once more i went away.
Now the game is a memory. But at the very least its a good memory! Wouldn't have wanted to miss anything.

Remembered having a blast with this game. I remember an old friend of mine hosted a tournament that I was apart of, and I got 4th place in it which got me a "special role" in the discord server. Sadly, the most recent game I ever played of this (I think it was like a year or 2 ago) it was plagued by a hacker and completely ruined the game for me. You wont find anyone playing this game, you have to find people on your own in order to play this dead game now. I will hold it dearly in my heart, rest in peace.
No one is playing the game currently, so there is no one you can play with. Sadly I could not even try out the game itself.

A completely dead online only mafia. Yes, it looks like it has some neat ideas, but to play the game you will have to join a discord group and pray that you are in the same time zone or have a bunch of friends to play it. The only thing that is always available is a cash shop for cosmetics.

The game's community has died, and I would recommend highly getting a different game.
Unfortunately the game no longer has a supported playerbase, and games and matches are only sporadically found via it's Discord Server.
The game has not updated in forever, an it's development has practically died.
While it was an amazing social deduction game (and even better than it's competitors in terms of balance) when it was active, with better mechanics, and even had unique gimmicks and cosmetics, it unfortunately is a ghost town.

I absolutely loved this game but it's pretty dead now. It made me realise all I want in life is pretty simple. I just want to join a cult and gaslight people.
Bad Stuff:
- You have to accept an EULA agreement to play to game. Clicking on the link to that agreement takes you to a gambling website.
- Requires that you enter an email address to play, but doesn't require that you click an emailed verification link to play, so presumably the email is for spam rather than any kind of identification/verification.
- There are tons of spelling mistakes/typos in the tutorial.
- In-app purchases/micro-transactions. (Yes, I know it's free to play, I just hate the whole F2P business model).
- Game is dead. I'm literally the only person playing right now. There is 1 person playing this game right now according to steam-charts. Lol. Lmao.

I miss this game. I spent 2,651 hours playing it, but now it is dead. Why? No idea. There used to be a good amount of players and matches galore! It was so much fun.
I did try Town of Salem a little while later after the death of this game, but I got to say TOL was so much better. The speed in which events happened was great. You had a little extra time plotting and planning and thinking and figuring out what you wanted to do, but it didn't drag on either.

I loved playing it from time to time back in 2018/2019 but devs who first brought this great game decided that it's better to ruin it with their constant meddling while not addressing issues at hand. This resulted in game dropping some stable population to zero. Lobbies are essentially empty. Shame, worthy competitor of ToS dies like that. Wish there were alternatives to ToS.

This review is just nostalgic rambling.
This was the best social deduction game on the market. Other games, like Town of Salem, weren't nearly as good. The evil faction stood little to no chance if the town played competently.
This game had a good conversion system, which made every round extremely tense. Every role had a converted counterpart, which was very fun. The Knight for example, was extremely OP when converted by Unseen (could basically bypass protection and gurantee killing the Prince). But actually converting a Knight was somewhat risky as it's a suspicious claim. You could try to convert a more confirmable role, such as the Noble, to built up trust. But essentially have to pass up a very powerful ability - it was always a gamble, you needed some kind of strategy.
The games where you managed to play everyone against each other as Mastermind or Cult Leader were some of the best gaming experiences I ever had.
Turns out politicians where lying backstabbing scum in medieval times as well.
Had a lot of good times with this game, but the devs got involved after a match with a streamer who was a piece of ♥♥♥♥. The devs are also dog trash.
I played this game for a long while; I really wish it would come back.
I love social deduction games and there are so few ones that go indepth like this.
The better version of Town of Salem.
Everything about its presentation, music, and character roles is just top notch.

Mods of this game are psychotic creeps that continue to break confidentiality laws by sharing players information in their dead discord server. To make up for their decomposed game (peak players is 2 players in lobby a day) they beg and grovel for people to give them good reviews in exchange for an extra role or something that inevitably doesnt matter anymore because nobody plays this game.
Had gotten a 1 year ban after i left early in a game as a blue role, came back a year later to see that my 1 year turned into 10 years. I went to the discord to tell a mod of the game and they proceeded to shame me in chat and call me a troll then banned me from their server. I find it hilarious that they had to mass unban people, as nobody was playing their game anymore after they banned most of their player-base, considering the reason i was called a troll was bringing up the fact that their peak of players at the time was 9 in a 15 player lobby.
From my recollection they apparently had a mobile version in the works, well that was what 2 years ago now?
Couldn't recommend this game less, nobody plays it and they'll probably shame and dox you in their discord if they haven't already. But most importantly a chat based detective game requires players.
After reading about what the devs/mods do on their discord Server and how they treat the community and all the creepy and borderline illegal stuff they release and show there i'm just gonna leave this negative review here. Game is dead. Move along.
I have played this game for a while now and while the game itself is fun I cannot recommend it due to the devs/mods mentality. They have an "inner circle" that will ban/suspend you for the slightest thing if you disagree with them or simply for not being part of their clique. They actually have a server on their discord where they post chat logs and reasons why people were banned/suspended and sit around and make fun of them. It actually feels like a high school clique tbh.
When you happen to run into one of these people (you'll know they will constantly mention they are a "guide") and you will run into them because the player base is so small, expect to be immediately suspended if you upset them in anyway, and to top it all off "guides" get 50 gold for reporting people so they are actually ENCOURAGED to report anyone!
This game was incredible in it's prime. One of the better social deduction games out there, very fun evil and neutral factions, and interactive classes all around. Unfortunately the game is currently dead. The full 16 player lobbies are non-existent anymore, and there hasn't been any actual new gameplay content in years, only the removal of classes. There's a HEAVY emphasis for finding games using only Discord, this should not be required at all to even be able to play the game. I've heard cases of people being randomly banned, but I never experienced that myself, so I can't say. I'd recommend looking for more active social deduction games.

um otimo jogo sobre dedução social que lembra um pouco de um jogo bastante antigo chamado detetive. Sendo um jogo bastante mais complexo do que detetive, throne of lies explora o sistema de roles/classes que fazem o jogo ficar tão divertido, você nunca sabe quem está mentindo. Uma otima experiencia com uma otima comunidade, se voce fizer besteira o seu erro vai servir pra que você melhore para o proximo game, jogos bem rapidos mas intensos
Minha experiencia no meu primeiro jogo: Peguei a role de princess onde ela é uma detetive pela facção Blue Dragon e disse ao rei que tinha encontrado alguem suspeito na noite 1, o rei foi contra mim e mandou me matar, no fim do jogo eu descobri que o rei era malvado e estava sendo controlado pelo culto.
infelizmente ainda não encontrei outros players BR's e jogo inteiramente em ingles (a maior parte do jogo é digitada nos logs e afins). Acho que o jogo deveria ser mais explorado pelo publico Brasileiro por ser um jogo bastante inteligente.

TL;DR - Game is a great social dedcution game, but you need to join the discord or play at a specific time to get a match going. It's free, so you don't have much to lose.
This game is a bit of a mixed bag. The game itself is a very good social deduction game, there is quite a bit of depth here, and it focuses on conversion(Turning a good guy into a cultist/evildoer) with both evil teams being able to convert people to their side. Most of the roles have something to do, and the neutrals are well thought out. The king mechanic is amazing.
However, there is a problem. The game has no players online 90% of the time. If you want to play this game, I HIGHLY recommend joining the offical discord and signing up for the matchmaking ping. At the time of writing, there are generaly people playing at about 8PM GMT most days. However, its free, so you don't have much to lose.

I'd say this was the best social deduction game ever made, in its day. Perhaps the devs will make something new, learning from mistakes made here. A new title would offer another chance for the community to form. It really was a great game, shame it went this way.

I Would Personally not recommend this game not only is the playerbase non existent it also seems to appear the devs refuse to accept criticisms . I have friends who wish to remain anonymous to avoid harassment, who have personal expierence with the game and its devs have resulted in the with being falsely accused of poor behaviors, and thus have given the game and -4 in a tier list we all have made. save your time and play a good game like Crab Game.

A deception game like the party game Werewolf or Town of Salem where you try to identify and execute traitors or, if you're a traitor, avoid suspicion and eliminate the other players. Potentially fun, but the tutorial bugged out halfway through, and I never saw more than 2 people queued for a game that needs 16. Bummer.
