Ubisoft did the bare minimum to make this game playable on modern pcs.
The ground culls out when i zoom too far out on mountains.
when it's raining, the rain fog is based on camera position, which means you have to zoom in a lot to see anything.
The game tends to freeze up and needs to be forcibly closed when i minimize it.

But most egregious, the game requires a Ubisoft connect account to play, which means you need an internet connection to start it. Ubisoft connect has an offline mode, but it literally doesn't work, it just restarts Ubisoft connect, tries to connect again, asks if i want to play offline mode, and repeats these 3 steps.

Gra ukończona w 100% w 300 godzin. Wszystkie misje ukończone (zarówno fabuła jak i pozostałe misje), mapy poodkrywane, skarby pozbierane, cały potencjał gry został wykorzystany. I co mogę powiedzieć? Poprostu majstersztyk, nie rozumiem dlaczego ta gra jest taka underrated, a nawet krytykowana. Szkoda że Settlersy nie poszły dalej w tą stronę, bo z chęcią ograłbym każdą podobną część. Prawdopodobnie najlepsza gra taktyczna w jaką grałem, przymierzałem się do niej kilka razy jeszcze za dzieciaka, ale dopiero teraz udało się ją przejść w pełni. Kilka misji niestety jest tylko w języku niemieckim, jednak grając z tłumaczem nie było z tym problemu. Jeśli chodzi o zmianę dodatków (Expansion/Legends) to robi się to na Steamie wybierając w jaką wersję się chcę grać. Ale uwaga, należy odpalać pozostałe wersję przez Steama, nie przez ikonkę na pulpicie! Wracając, gra jest przekozacka i wydatek na nią był bardziej niż opłacalny. Polecam serdecznie, mimo, że czasami wkurzała trudnościami pojedynczych misji :pp

Meiner Meinung nach der beste Teil der Die Siedler-Reihe. Liegt wohl daran dass er komplett anders ist als die Anderen.

Die ersten 8 Kampagnenmissionen sind i.d.R. entspanntes Aufbauen mit Gegnern, die hin und wieder irgendwo auftauchen aber keine ernste Gefahr für eure Burg darstellen.
Das ändert sich aber abrupt ab der 9. Mission wo man konstant, fast ununterbrochen von immer stärker werdenden Gegnerhorden angegriffen wird. Ab da ist dann Geschick gefragt, die Militärausgaben und die Produktion von Ressourcen aufeinander abzustimmen und man die gegnerische Burg schnell zerstören sollte, bevor der Feind zu mächtig wird.
Das selbe gilt für die Freispielkarten.

Dieses Spiel ist für mich reinste Nostalgie - also kann es sein, dass ich es positiver sehe, als es ist. Aber ich liebe dieses Spiel einfach. Ich liebe die Details - man kann bis ganz weit ranzoomen und den Leuten beim arbeiten zu sehen. Es macht einfach süchtig. Gestern seit Jahren endlich wieder gespielt und direkt knapp 5 Stunden am Stück gespielt. Die Musik ist traumhaft und ich liebe die Sprüche der Siedler. Manchmal nervt das Wetter, aber sonst ist das ein tolles Spiel, was man auch noch 2025 spielen kann.

Got it in a sale for 6€ and thought I could try it out as I liked the settlers (2,3,4) when I was younger.

In short the short the game does not know what it really wants and it lacks polish.
There is still some base building. I like the idea of adding houses and farms to resource buildings, because it makes nicer cities. While this sounds nice in theory, it gets repetitive very fast. If you see a resource spot, you want it and build the necessary buildings. There is no real decision making.

When it comes to combat, there are different types of units and they gather exp, so you want to keep them alive and get invested in the fights. Instead of single units, you have small squats (~5units) as smalles controllable unit. But this makes it very difficult to spot which units belong to which squad, which units to pull back,... sometimes it is also difficult to differenciate between you and the enemy.
There are also heroes, which you directly control. There the voice lines are off, so it is harder to determine if they are in danger or if they are fine and the narrator talks...
The game seems pretty easy, so this does not seem to be a real problem and you can probably play and enjoy the campaign, but it is nothing special (got halfway through the game, when writing the review)

Where is the Activation Key? Why can´t I play this game if I don´t use an activation key which is on the BACKSIDE of the Manual? Which DOES NOT EXIST?

After writing this review I pushed the play button again and got into the game without needing a key.
I already told steam I wanted a refund at that time and after playing for an hour, I got thown on my desktop. I got the refund I wanted.
I will really have to think about buying it again but for the moment I will let it be as is.

Well, in my case it's nostalgia, and there must be a reason why I returned to the game after decades. It's very compelling world-building and logistical mechanics. And now that I have a GPU that could play ten of these games at the same time it's just a breeze.
