Ten years after the Hundred Days War, the small country of Liberl was at peace until a coup d'etat instigated within the Royal Army ranks attempted to overthrow Queen Alicia. Thanks to the combined efforts of the Bracer Guild and loyal military personnel, the coup was thwarted and the ringleaders imprisoned. The safety of the kingdom seemed secure, but mysterious events begin happening all over Liberl just as Queen Alicia prepares to solidify the peace between the surrounding nations. Loved this game. The theory crafting with the quartz to create the best art loadouts for your party was really fun. The story isnt quite as slow as the first one and it really picks up by chapter 4. I ran around the first few chapters with Agate and the banter between him and Olivier was pretty funny. Great sequel if you u liked the first game you will love this one. Time for part 3!

After spending nearly 100 hours and unlocking every achievement I can safely say this is one of my favorite JRPGS of all time. The final act has delivered such satisfying and high quality narrative that I am simply blown away . I wont mention spoilers but almost every plot detail from the first chapter has been respected in this game and it made me care for each and every character present. The legend of heroes Trails in the Sky SC is about overcoming grief, facing the horrors of war and humanity and it is a reminder of the fact that in the end love and family are the most important part of the human life. We must not give in to hatred and spite even in the face of war and death . An amazing game and I am officially a Trails fan . I recommend this gem to every JRPG fan but do expect a slow burn and playing the first chapter (TRAILS IN THE SKY FC) is a must. Absolute cinema .

After finishing the first chapter about a year ago (and not much later the remake of that one) and liking it quite a bit, I went into this second installment hoping for “more, but better,” and honestly? That’s pretty much exactly what I got.

The sequel feels like a direct reward for sticking with the slow burn of the first game. The story is bigger, the stakes are higher, the cast is larger, and the overall plot feels much more connected from chapter to chapter. Where the first game sometimes felt like a series of loosely connected mini-adventures, here the chapters are far more focused and deliberate, like everything is pushing toward something bigger. And because the previous game spent so much time laying the groundwork, this one gets to cash in emotionally on all of it.

I really enjoyed having more playable characters this time around (it’s a pity that we can’t play as the new ones that much…). It made the party feel more dynamic both in battle and in the story, and it was great spending more time with characters who already had strong foundations in the first game. There’s a lot of character development here, too, not just for Estelle, who continues to be one of my favorite JRPG protagonists and is growing up in front of us, but across the board. The emotional beats landed much harder for me this time with some pretty dark plot elements here and there.

Another big highlight was the villain group. They kind of reminded me of Organization XIII from the [i]Kingdom Hearts[/i] series. They’re just a lot more fun and memorable than your average JRPG antagonists, and the game keeps adding more lore and intrigue around the world, its factions, and the bigger forces at work. That sense of discovering a much larger story behind everything is a huge part of what makes these games so engaging.

Gameplay-wise, it’s still very much the same as before. The combat, graphics, and music are all solid, but there aren’t huge changes compared to the first game. That wasn’t really a problem for me, of course, because the core systems were already good, and some of the boss fights can actually be pretty challenging, to be honest. When the game wants you to work for a win, it absolutely does, trust me!

That said, not everything is improved. One of my biggest issues is that there aren’t that many truly new locations, since you mostly spend your time revisiting areas from the first game. On top of that, there’s still plenty of walking back and forth, especially if you want to complete sidequests and see everything. So, while the pacing is stronger overall, some of the old structural annoyances definitely remain.

Even so, I came away liking this second chapter more than the first one. It builds on what made the original work, strengthens the story, expands the cast and lore, and delivers a much more satisfying sense of momentum. It feels less like setup and more like payoff – and that payoff, if you ask me, is absolutely worth it!

Now I’m really curious to see how the remake version coming out later this year turns out…!

Although there are many great aspects of this game, I have found too many flaws to recommend. Between the mandatory party-switching, arts-canceling enemy attacks, and broken/inaccurate systems, this game, while at times fun and satisfying, ultimately falls short of a good time—especially near the end. As always, people find ways around difficult games. However, I personally have a great distaste for games which punish the player for utilizing their systems in important moments. It's a kind of forced challenge and I don't think it is the right approach to gameplay progression.

The story is standard for JRPGs, but I don't think that's a good thing. Its main theme is that emotion and empathy triumph over logic and reason, which is itself a false-dichotomy. The protagonist is portrayed as a tomboy with an attitude, yet she's described as "bright like the sun", even though that simile is usually reserved for kind, passive people. And the Villains have an uninteresting "all part of the plan" plot, which seems to justify any and every action taken in the story. It isn't interesting or original, and in fact, the ending much less so.

The engine this game uses is also very dated (hence the remakes). It's not much of a problem, but I don't think it properly utilizes the GPU, leading to slowdown in some sections. Luckily, the PC version includes a Turbo button, so it isn't as bad as it could have been.

With the gameplay issues and the at-times cringeworthy story, I don't think SC is worth the playtime.

After really enjoying my time with the first Trails in the Sky, there came the worry of whether or not the sequel would live up to those sky high expectations. It was bold to leave the last chapter on such a cliffhanger and I'm happy to say not only did the story deliver, but so did the improvements to gameplay. My compliments to the first game leaned heavily on the story, with the gameplay being engaging enough, but I found the changes to the orbal arts and craft system had it feeling alot more strategic and I found myself much more engaged on the combat side than I had been in the first chapter.

But of course, as with the first game, my main interest was in the continued storyline. And, in my opinion, the setups from the first game were delivered upon perfectly. And for the sake of no spoilers, I'll just leave it at that. Looking forward to continuing my journey through these games!

It delivers, in spades, exactly what you expect from it: a continuation and satisfying conclusion to the story arc of Estelle and Joshua that started in the first game.

So it's worth noting that if you're coming from Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, you may be better off just waiting for Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter when it releases in the Fall. That said, as someone who played this version because I was desperate to continue the story after 1st Chapter's cliff hanger, this is one of my favorite JRPGs ever, and I think it exceeds the quality of its predecessor in nearly every respect.
Similar to the first game, it does start off pretty slow paced and episodic in a way that I personally find enjoyable and cozy, but some may dislike. In the game's second half, however, it picks up like crazy and manages to fully live up to and even exceed the scope that I imagined as I started the first game and realized the potential of the Trails series' world.
Without really getting into spoilers, this game continues the story of the first game in a pretty seamless way and I really got attached to the characters and this world as I made my way through it.
I also think the gameplay has aged better than some will give it credit for. It's less fluid than the remakes, using a more strictly grid-based system for its battles and requiring you to take a turn to move your position, rather than the looser position-based system that gives you lots of chances to move around in 1st Chapter, but it really works nonetheless. At its best, the combat strikes this really tense and fun level of difficulty where you're trying to find just the right position and strategy for each of your party members so that they're close enough to heal each other, far enough that they can't easily be hit all at once, and have the capacity to dish out enough damage to wittle down at times very large and aggressive teams of enemies.
I think the presentation is also pretty good. The old art style is certainly of its mid 2000s era, and even in that context it's got pretty low fidelity compared to some of the AAA stuff from that time, but it still has a lot of charm and just has at times genuinely interesting environments, characters, monsters, and effects.
Unfortunately there are some tech issues involved on modern systems. I primarily play on a 4K monitor, but there's a bug that basically breaks the UI at 4K so I had to play at a lower resolution. I also noticed that the game is very clearly designed around 4:3 monitors and some effects don't work correctly in 16:9. It also has some weird frame drops on my PC into the 30s, which simply should not be happening with a game this old on any PC from the past 5 years, let alone one as powerful as mine. Fortunately, though it is marked as unsupported on the Steam Deck, I played most of this game on the Steam Deck and ran into no issues whatsoever. It actually ran at a perfectly locked 90fps on my Steam Deck OLED. I have to assume that maybe Proton is a better compatibility layer than whatever Windows 11 is using to get this Windows XP-era game running. If you do try to play this on the Steam Deck, note that I personally set proton to experimental for this game as a precaution, but I've heard that's not necessary. The main thing that was supposedly broken in the past is FMVs and I had no issues.
This game also just has one of my favorite OSTs that I've heard in a while. There's a lot of MIDI, but it's mostly pretty well produced. Where the first game had a pretty good soundtrack, this one has some of my favorite JRPG battle themes of all time. I've been humming and whistling these even weeks after beating the game. It's really that good. I can't wait to hear how the remake recreates some of these tracks.
Overall, I came out of this so satisfied that as I watched the credits roll all I could think is that what I just played is so good that I have no clue how the rest of the rest of the series will live up to it. If you liked the first game, I can't imagine a scenario where you won't love this one. I might only recommend against this game if you'd rather just wait for the remake to experience a version of the game that lives up to the same quality standard as 1st Chapter. Personally, I like this game so much that despite not having a clear reason to play it, 2nd Chapter will be a day one purchase for me unless they royally mess it up.

No matter what, I believe this will always be one of my favorite games of all time from now on. A beautiful and heartfelt payoff from what we experienced in the first game and a fun experience to boot (RIP the speedup button though haha). I love the chibi models and the soundtrack is perfect! I'm not good with words or reviews, so I'll just say this: what I've witnessed here has only increased my desire to play through the rest of the series, and the fact that this game has held up so well even after all these years is a testament to its quality :D

An excellent RRG with all the world building, character, political intrigue and addictive combat the Trails games are famous for. Mild downsides include a sloggy 3rd act and some excessive backtracking (the turbo button mitigates this flaw a bit) but overall this game is a rewarding and engaging experience with a heartfelt story and a catchy soundtrack. Note: Playing the first game in this trilogy before this one is an absolute requirement in order to understand the story.

Much like a ton of other people, Trails 1st Chapter was my intro to the Trails series, and I refused to wait for the remake because I was dying to know how the story continued. Man am I glad I jumped right in. Mid-2000's gameplay aesthetic aside, Trails SC was just as much of an unforgettable journey as FC was. The writers of these games deserve an incredible raise. Every character, from the main characters down to the NPC's have a purpose in this world, and it's amazing how they are able to feel like a part of this living breathing world. I will never forget this game for the rest of my life, and I'm so excited to dive into the rest of the Trails series and I'll absolutely be playing the Remake on Day 1.

Decided to 100% this one after finishing it a few years ago, had a blast replaying it. The gambler achievement is hard but so satisfying when you finally see "four of a kind" pop. Also definitely less glitchy than the first game. Love the story, and I recommend watching the anime alongside this game. On to 100% the third one!

Ouvia dizer que Sky SC era melhor que o primeiro, mas não acreditei muito porque gostei demais do primeiro. No fim, Sky SC é melhor que o primeiro em praticamente tudo (e ainda dá pra pescar! haha). Ansioso pra ver novas história nesse mundo incrível. Já está entre meus RPGs preferidos da vida, ao lado de Chrono Trigger, Mass Effect 2, Xenoblade 1 e 2, Dragon Quest 11, Tales of Xillia, Witcher 2, Persona 4G e outros.

Musiche eccellenti e altrettanto eccellente doppiaggio giapponese, come nel primo da installare tramite mod.
Gameplay che migliora e diventa bello e ottimo raggiungendo una buona profondità, grazie ad un bellissimo sistema degli orbment.
Città e cittadini come nel primo, vivi tramite dialoghi che cambiano con grande frequenze e loro storie.

Contro:
A difficoltà massima un inferno, vi ricorderete a lungo l'esperienza, dal bastoncino e tunica del primo capitolo abbiamo finalmente ottenuto dell'equipaggiamento decente per affrontare i nostri nemici, tuttavia anche loro hanno ottenuto un upgrade, i bazooka, xd
Come nel primo, la finestra e la posizione di alcune secondarie nascoste è infame.

Nel complesso, un eccellente JRPG che consiglio caldamente, tra i capitoli migliori della saga con diversi momenti e scene veramente belle.

ну что хотелось бы сказать... начало душновато, оправданно как для дальнейшего разгона душновато, но к этому стоит быть готовым. Неплохое завершение арки, куча недосказанностей для потенциального раскрытия в следующих частях, что отнесу в плюсы. Подземелья в сравнении с первой частью сделаны лучше - по ним теперь действительно можно ориентироваться, а не ходить наугад. Боевка преобразилась не сильно - преимущественно использовал те же заклинания что и в 1 части, хотя добавление замедления и ускорения 2 однозначно скатили боевку именно в их абьюз, комбо атаками не пользовался от слова совсем, да и персонажами, ориентированными в маг урон (3/4 в отряде) наносить больше 100 урона физ атаками кажется невозможным. Ну и без Зейна неиграбельно, +60% к физ атаке и защите позволяет переживать те атаки, которые другие не переживают, и наносить стабильный урон по тем, по кому не могут другие.
Еще раз отмечу что в это я играл по подсказке Твари47, за что ему спасибо, я его ненавижу

Абсолютное кино!

Я редко когда пишу отзывы, но Trails in the Sky SC - это настолько невероятный JRPG-опыт, что я просто обязан поделиться впечатлениями. Эта игра не просто продолжает историю - она улучшает всё, что было в первой части, углубляя сюжет, расширяя мир и делая борьбу ещё интереснее и тактически насыщеннее. С каждым новым городом, с каждым диалогом я всё сильнее чувствовал связь с персонажами и реальность мира Либерля - я буквально переживал каждую сцену вместе с ними.

Боевой геймплей стал ещё богаче: система orbment и очередность ходов даёт столько возможностей для стратегий, что я не раз ловил себя на мысли, что мне просто нельзя отрываться от боя - он захватывает не меньше, чем сюжет. А музыка! Саундтрек здесь великолепен, он прекрасно дополняет эмоциональные повороты и делает каждый момент запоминающимся.

Плюс, несмотря на огромные масштабы, игра не теряет индивидуальности: каждый NPC чувствует себя живым человеком, у каждого есть своя история, и просто исследовать мир - это удовольствие. Это одна из тех игр, в которую я играл с абсолютным погружением, и после финала ещё долго сидел и обдумывал пережитое. Столько глубины, столько эмоций - это одна из лучших JRPG, что я когда-либо проходил.

前面太公式流程公式剧情玩着困，轨言轨语症状已经有迹象了，细节的地方做的很细节，又有很多别扭的点反正留个谜语不说。战斗这块后期配好导力器玩玩全屏魔法和物理阿加特一直大还是挺爽的。另外，即使我打过很多狒狒的全成就，这个赌牌成就也过于恶心了。有时候几连战加大大大大量播片快结束卡死重新打不能跳过剧情非常难受。整体还算值得玩吧给个好评。

Yeah, this is absolutely phenomenal. The character arcs so wonderfully setup in FC are now ready to see their payoffs realised and this game does it so unbelivably wonderfully. Shout out to Estelle who well and truly grows as a person in SC and goes through fantastic growth as she comes to tackle the plot developments set up in FC. We finally start to see the players on the boards make their moves and the realisation of these plot threads are an absolute thrill to see. We get more wonderful worldbuilding with some frankly wicked revelations and grand-scale elements of the world explored.

I really must emphesise, if you enjoyed FC and grew on the characters from it, SC will take those characters and take them to such amazing heights that it'll do nothing but serve as the best possible follow up FC could've had. It is everything it had and more and will absolutely not disappoint.

Trails in the Sky FC and SC are the best pair of games I've ever had the pleasure of playing ! THESE TWO ARE MY FAV JRPGs EVER ! Second Chapter is a wonderful conclusion to the story that began in First Chapter.

I love these games for their beautiful story. Both manage to immerse and emotionally invest you in their characters. I cried many times playing both games because, at times, I was overwhelmed with emotion ! The world is very much alive and exploring is encouraged ! I spent many hours trying to get every bracer contract and drop of dialogue out of this game.

As someone who loves turn based combat, the gameplay is also extremely stimulating. I enjoy having to customize my orbments/build and strategize during combat.

If you're debating playing this game, I say pull the trigger. But make sure you play FC first ! I wish I could play these two games for the first time all over again :) <3

An improvement in basically every way from the first game, with an incredibly satisfying (albeit sorta cliche) conclusion.

Once again, the real spotlight here is the character writing. They aren't just vessels for the plot to be experienced through; they care for one another, react to the world around them, and grow as people. The relationship between the two main characters in particular is super engaging, and the way their arc is handled has shot them up to the top as some of my favorite characters from any game.

As for everything else, like I said, improvements across the board. The gameplay is tighter, the music is stronger, the story is grander, and the worldbuilding continues to get even deeper. As much as I liked the first game, this second chapter is the real payoff. Interested to see where things go in the next game!

Talk about an insane improvement!
I will confess I almost dropped the first game because it started off so slow and then started getting really good toward the middle.
This one hooked me from the start and didn't let me go until the credits.
Everything was improved upon. The gameplay, the music, THE NARRATIVE. Oh man, the character development was insane here.
This game is incredible from start to finish.
If you are on the fence with the Trails series after the first one, this one will hook you for sure.

My first playthrough took about 91 hours on New Game Nightmare, and the experience was 100% worth it.

Trails in the Sky SC is a step up in every regard from FC and does a fantastic job continuing the story and expanding on the gameplay and quartz systems from FC. I loved FC, but SC really blew the first game out of the water.

Can't wait for the remake to release so I can play both games again!

A minha pequena review depois passar o jogo. Até 5 chapter o ritmo extremamente lento e mais lento FC. O dá prender do jogo é Ouroboros os Enforcers mas depois o ritmo o jogo melhora muito. O final é muito bom apesar no início do jogo tem problemas ritmo e muita áreas repetidas o primeiro jogo. Se for dar uma nota seria entre 7,5/10 ou 8/10.

Played the FC Remake and immediately after had to continue with SC. Despite being 20years old, I absolutely loved SC. If you liked FC or FC Remake. play SC. Dont wait for the SC Remake, just play it again when it comes out :D

Biggest Contra is that Combat and Travel is slow, but even that is offset by a built in customisable Turbo-Mode.

Que espetáculo!

Estava com bastante ressalvas de jogar o original, por que eu havia jogado o remake do primeiro, mas valeu super a pena, o jogo envelheceu super bem!
Existem muitas diferenças quanto a exploração (ausência de fast travel, que faz MUITA falta nesse jogo pois precisamos andar bastante), o combate tem suas diferenças mas é bem parecido, fora os gráficos que para quem vem do remake é bem diferente, pois aqui o jogo toma um formato mais chibi, mas sinceramente vale MUITO a pena para quem não quiser esperar o remake, e de verdade o combate da série Trails, com o sistema de Orbment que é muito expandido aqui, é para mim um dos melhores sistemas já criados.

Trails in the sky SC é LITERALMENTE uma sequência, ele se passa minutos depois do primeiro jogo, e volta a explorar as mesmas cidades, aprofundando ainda mais a relação entre os personagens do cast principal e amadurecendo ainda mais a Estelle, fora o grande desenvolvimento da Ouroboros que só foi introduzido no final do jogo 1, mas diferente do seu predecessor, aqui a história e desenvolvida de maneira muito mais rápida (não corrida), te deixando cada vez mais interessando tanto no plot de temas externos a party, como também de entender melhor a motivação do cast introduzido no trails 1, isso por que, FELIZMENTE, diferente do jogo 1, não perdemos toda hora nossa party cada vez que mudamos de cidade, agora eles nos acompanham e podemos formar as equipes da maneira que quisermos (fora alguns momentos chaves), e para mim esse é um dos melhores diferencias desse jogo, ficava muito triste sempre que um personagem que eu gostava saía da minha party, e nesse além de você poder escolher quem te acompanhará em cada aventura, eles ainda vão interagir com os acontecimentos, isso é muito divertido e me lembrou muito o Baldur's Gate 3, que dependendo de quem você traz na sua party, você vai acabar ouvindo comentários diferentes (e as vezes pode até perder o desenvolvimento de um personagem por não traze-lo em algum batalha ou encontro específico).

Existem algumas complicações nesse jogo quanto a objetivos, pois não há nenhuma indicação no mapa e as vezes nem mapa tem em algumas dungeons, mas nada que um guia não resolva, (mas também não há tantos mistérios em saber aonde ir seguindo a descrição da missão, só complica mesmo em algumas side quests e para coletar todos os báus), e vale ressaltar que a versão da steam não tem dublagem, mas você pode baixar um mod que eles trazem as vozes em japonês da versão revolution, que para mim fica menos esquisito de ler, mesmo que eu não entenda nada de japonês.

Esse jogo para mim mereceu cada segundo que fiquei nele, me apaixonei ainda mais por esse elenco maravilhoso, e esse plot super divertido e emocionante, fico de cara que essa série não é tão reconhecida, por que vi aqui, um jrpg que bate de frente com as séries mais main stream.

In the second chapter of the Liberl Arc we return to Estelle Bright, a 16 year old bracer, searching for her adoptive brother [spoiler] after he mysteriously abandoned her at the end of the previous game [/spoiler]. Once again the world is a joy to explore and the combat system is fun to play with without being overly complicated. You will find yourself revisiting a lot of environments from the previous game but it thankfully never feels stuck in a rut.

Soy una de esas personas que, tras jugar al remake del primero, no pudieron esperar para jugar al segundo. Es la primera vez que juego a los Trails, la primera entrega me encantó a pesar de que es un prólogo bastante largo y este me gustó aún más a pesar del bajón que supone pasar a un juego de hace dos décadas.
Jugar al original me hace apreciar todos los cambios gráficos y de calidad de vida que añadieron al remake, pero esto no evitó que me gozara la historia y los personajes. Es un juegardo que te va a sacar la lagrimilla como pocos rpgs hacen y estoy deseando probar el remake.

Ya de paso un aviso: Mete el mod evolution para la remasterización del arte visual y videos, además de añadir voces en japonés. Esto me parece clave para la inmersión.

An incredible sequel. I'm yet again impressed by how much care the game puts into world building, with every NPC having their own thing going on as the story progresses. I enjoy the combat and the character building aspect presented by the orbment system. Having both gear and quartz affect your character allows for some very satisfying builds.

시리즈의 고질병인 전개의 패턴화, 악당과의 WWE가 여기서부터 두드러진다.
전작도 적들 잡았는데 툭 하면 섬광탄 던지고 튀는 걸 반복했는데 SC는 더욱 심해진다.
음모를 꾸미는 악당, 물리쳤더니 크큭 실험은 이미 완료다 하면서 튀는 걸 질리도록 봐야 한다.
엔딩은 제법 뭉클했지만... 지나치게 공업화 된 전개가 내심 걸린단 말이지.
