Indie adventure game with RPG elements in which you travel the world, battle enemies and solve puzzles.
✅Pleasant music during combat
✅Vast world to explore
✅You can recruit allies
❌No tutorial or instructions on what to do in the game
❌The price is too high for me
❌High frequency of random battles I mean that while exploring the game world, you practically come across random encounters with enemies every few moments
❌No option to return to visited locations
❌The game isn’t finished; the storyline can’t be continued in some places, which, after 1.5 hours, put me off playing any further
❌No option to change the resolution or basic graphics settings
❌The game was created using ready-made assets, meaning the developer used pre-made templates and other people’s resources
❌There’s no way to improve combat in this game
❌❌❌ Verdict: [strike] Terrible [/strike] , Bad , [strike] Mediocre [/strike] , [strike] Decent [/strike] , [strike] Good [/strike] , [strike] Very Good [/strike] (Rating scale for tested game)

I wanted adventure — got a homework essay on how to not die. The hero walks like he’s avoiding landmines made of tooltips. Story feels like a dusty 1997 comic no one asked for. 3/10.

Once reaching the labyrinth you will realize that there is no more coming forward. Noone who encountered the issue and posted about it found someone who could explain the issue. Someone ment a dev told him they hid a lever in there, but i can ensure you, i've looked at every wall or floor from every single perspective and there was none.
Has potential, but nearly everything feels underdeveloped. Needs a lot more polish. It felt like a demo more than a game.
So, what do we have here? It's a walking game with dialogues and a storyline, and the main character on the cover reminds me of someone

The Adventurer – Episode 1: Beginning of the End, developed by ZemunBRE and published by SA Industry, is a small-scale role-playing game that seeks to capture the charm and simplicity of classic adventure titles. Set in the Kingdom of Bisera, a land suddenly plagued by the mysterious disappearance of young women, the game casts the player as an unlikely hero drawn into a quest that blurs the line between dream and reality. Built with a modest indie framework and inspired by the nostalgic tone of early 2000s RPGs, it presents itself as the opening chapter in a larger episodic saga. Its premise is straightforward, its ambitions sincere, and its execution rough around the edges, resulting in an experience that feels both endearing and incomplete.
At its core, The Adventurer functions as a traditional turn-based RPG, complete with exploration, combat, and light character progression. The player navigates a series of 3D environments rendered in the Smile Game Builder engine, moving through towns, forests, and deserts while interacting with NPCs and uncovering the mystery behind the kingdom’s plight. Battles unfold in a familiar turn-based style, where each party member acts in sequence, using physical attacks or skills to defeat enemies. The system is easy to grasp and accessible, but it lacks mechanical depth, relying more on nostalgia than innovation. For some players, this simplicity is part of the appeal—a throwback to an era when RPGs focused more on charm and atmosphere than complex systems—but for others, it may feel overly rudimentary and repetitive after a few encounters.
The game’s world design emphasizes exploration, but its pacing and structure sometimes work against it. Movement speed is notably slow, which makes traversing the already large environments feel tedious. Some players will appreciate the effort to create a sense of scale and space, yet without fast travel or shortcuts, backtracking becomes a chore. Compounding this issue is the inability to revisit certain locations once they’ve been cleared, which undermines the exploratory freedom the game initially promises. These design quirks reflect the game’s ambition to tell an episodic story on a limited budget, but they also make it clear that the experience is still finding its footing. It often feels like a prototype for a larger project—a concept waiting to be expanded upon in future installments.
Visually, The Adventurer presents a combination of 3D environments and 2D character portraits that give it a unique, if inconsistent, aesthetic. The character portraits are well-drawn and add a layer of personality to the cast, even when the models themselves are simple. The color palette and lighting give the world a soft, dreamlike quality, fitting the game’s premise of adventures that begin in sleep. The environments, while not highly detailed, are functional and easy to read, allowing players to focus on exploration and story progression. There is an unpolished charm to the presentation, reminiscent of early indie RPGs made with RPG Maker or its spiritual successors. Players who enjoy retro visuals will find the design inviting, though those expecting more technical refinement may find the graphics dated and the animations stiff.
Narratively, the game leans into fantasy adventure tropes with self-awareness and a touch of humor. The writing is light and often sprinkled with jokes or references, giving the world a slightly whimsical tone. The premise of disappearing girls provides a clear objective, but the story unfolds more as a series of loosely connected events than a tightly structured narrative. Dialogue is serviceable and occasionally quirky, though localization inconsistencies and grammatical errors can pull the player out of the experience. Still, the tone feels genuine, as if the developers wanted to create a story that doesn’t take itself too seriously while still maintaining a sense of mystery and wonder. It’s the kind of writing that fits the modest scope of the game, and while it may not deliver emotional depth, it conveys enthusiasm and heart.
From a gameplay standpoint, The Adventurer’s turn-based combat provides brief bursts of challenge but rarely evolves beyond basic attack-and-heal routines. Enemy encounters can be frequent, sometimes to the point of interrupting the pacing, and the lack of variety in combat mechanics can make battles feel repetitive over time. On the positive side, players can recruit allies to join their party, adding some strategic variation in later sections. Progression through equipment upgrades and stat increases gives a mild sense of advancement, though the game’s short length prevents the system from fully developing. It’s a formula that feels more suited for an introduction than a standalone experience, consistent with the “Episode 1” subtitle—it gives players a taste of what could be, rather than a fully realized adventure.
Technically, The Adventurer performs smoothly on most systems due to its lightweight design. It requires minimal hardware power, making it accessible to nearly any PC setup. However, that simplicity comes at the cost of refinement. The user interface can feel clunky, animations are basic, and certain transitions between scenes or menus lack polish. Some players have reported issues with pathfinding, unclear objectives, and untranslated text. While none of these problems are game-breaking, they contribute to a sense that the game could have benefited from additional testing and development time. These flaws are common in smaller indie projects, but they also limit how immersive the experience can be for players accustomed to higher production standards.
Despite its flaws, The Adventurer – Episode 1 possesses a certain sincerity that keeps it from being entirely dismissible. It feels like a passion project rather than a commercial endeavor, created by developers who genuinely love the genre and wanted to recreate its spirit with limited means. The sense of nostalgia, the earnest dialogue, and the promise of a continuing story give the game a personality that’s easy to appreciate even when its systems fall short. At its best moments, it captures that old RPG magic of wandering through strange lands, fighting monsters, and meeting odd characters, even if it doesn’t have the polish or scale to sustain that feeling for long.
Ultimately, The Adventurer – Episode 1: Beginning of the End is an uneven but heartfelt attempt to revive the simplicity of old-school adventure RPGs. It’s short, imperfect, and occasionally frustrating, yet it offers glimpses of potential that make you curious about where future episodes might go. For fans of indie JRPGs, it can serve as a light and inexpensive experience with some charm and humor, especially for those who value creativity over polish. For others, its lack of depth, slow pacing, and technical roughness will make it hard to recommend beyond curiosity value. Still, it’s a reminder of how small projects can carry big dreams—and even if The Adventurer’s journey begins roughly, it shows a spark of imagination that could lead to something more refined in future installments.

This game doesn't interest me personally, but it seems like you're dropped into the game world with 0 explanation of ANYTHING and every 5 steps you take will land you into a battle with 3 wolves who do 0 damage to you other than their special attack. The game is clearly someone's first attempt at game making, and while this isn't good, at all, I can at least say it's properly priced and not some random $30 scam.
Uninteresting RPG Maker slop. You're thrown right into the game with absolutely no explanation of the story, mechanics, or anything. One of the two NPCs in the town tells you to visit the castle. After following the only visible path, and fighting the exact same enemy a couple dozen times, I stopped playing. I'm not sure if it's a bug or intentional, but you can't die - once you reach 10 health, enemies stop doing any damage.
I love the idea of this game. As it stands, it certainly left me wanting more. There's only like five world areas, and you can't go back to a previous area once you've progressed to a new one, and it seems like Green Arrow was supposed to be a party member, but got cut. Once you reach the Labyrinth the "game" is over, you can see the boss, but can't reach him, which makes for an unsatisfying ending to Episode 1.
Honestly it seems like a product that had a lot of love poured into it, but had to be cut off likely due to opportunity costs or otherwise.
Worth it for Gaylord.
Will update this review once I've played Episode 2.
Game itself is bad, It seems that it is unfinished, you are stuck in a room without exit? But I know that we are all here just for the badge so I guess it was worth it!
Very obviously, someone's first game. Which is fine, but a waste of time for the player.

The Adventurer Episode 1 Beginning of the End es un desastre, tío.

Purchased solely for the badge, but it was definitely a worthwhile investment. The game itself is a fairly decent indie JRPG, although it does feel incomplete in its final (?) level. There seems to be no clear ending, as we find ourselves trapped in a room with no way forward. Despite this, I must admit that I have eagerly awaited the sequel and was pleasantly surprised to discover that it has finally been released. Needless to say, I am eagerly anticipating getting my hands on it. Additionally, I highly recommend striving to reach level 5 of the badge in this game, which is humorously named Gaylord. :))))).

The Adventurer - Episode 1 Beginning of the End – трешевый JRPG.

I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.
Thank you.
ass game but pls trade me cards for free need the fckn badge
Absolute rubbish. I'm glad I paid about 50p in total for both games. This one had no introduction, but worked until the character left the house, then stopped with no responses when the wolf appeared. I'm deleting it from my account.

This may be the worst game ever published on this platform
We dive into the game without any explanation for the story. So, we have to go read the game’s description on the Steam store to find out our hero lives adventures during his dreams. Ok, so what is the quest of this game? Save virgin women from the clutches of evil witches. Nothing amazing. The NPCs don't say anything interesting. There's some dubious humor in this game with jokes like "yo momma is...". We go from a warm location to stumble on a snowy forest to a city where it's spring(!). It's impossible to go back to a place we've already explored. It's a linear game. We go from point A to point B and to point C. In Zemun City, you can see at least two white inches of space at its edge (a map done in a hurry). The fights are like in any rpg or in a game made with RPG Maker. Nothing extraordinary. Our hero seems to be invincible, as he loses almost no HP at enemy attacks. Only the bosses are more challenging. The game is designed with Smile Game Builder and it can easily be compared with RPG Maker but in 3D. The assets come from the game’s engine. They are... ok, and I'm sure I've seen them in other games. At least, I know I've seen them used in another Exatron Quest game in development by his creator. The game offers Steam trading cards. That's something. It can be finished in less than 30 minutes. The Adventurer Episode 1 is more a game’s prototype than anything else and I don't recommend it.
Knockoff Final Fantasy. Bad Controls, Bad Graphics.
Scootaloo's In-Depth Review of "The Adventurer - Episode 1: Beginning of the End"
Hello, fellow explorers and citizens of the icy realm of HowlStrom! I'm Scootaloo, a 19-year-old school-age Pegasus pony, a resident of the ice world HowlStrom, and a lifelong gamer. Today, I dive into the digital escapade of "The Adventurer - Episode 1: Beginning of the End" by ZemunBRE and published by SA Industry, comparing it to the adventures I've had in the frosty lands with the ice wolf clan led by Kiba Snowpaw.
Embarking on a New Adventure
"The Adventurer - Episode 1: Beginning of the End" promised an experience reminiscent of the mysterious and unpredictable journeys across HowlStrom. As a Pegasus used to flying over vast, uncharted icy territories, I was intrigued by the premise of exploring the Kingdom of Bisera and unraveling its secrets.
Gameplay and Mechanics: A Flight of Fantasy
The game is an adventure through a fantastical world, where every decision can lead to new, unexplored paths, much like navigating the treacherous snowstorms of HowlStrom. The combat and puzzle-solving mechanics, while unique, often felt repetitive and uninspired, not unlike the endless blizzards in my homeland.
Strengths:
- A narrative that piques curiosity, akin to the ancient legends of HowlStrom
- Humorous NPCs providing a lighthearted touch amidst the game's darker elements
Weaknesses:
- Inconsistent and sometimes frustrating gameplay mechanics
- Lack of original content and reliance on basic assets, diminishing the game's potential depth
- Subpar mapping and design that could leave players feeling as lost as a lone pony in a snowstorm
Visuals and Atmosphere
The 3D graphics and art style, while not as breathtaking as the auroras over HowlStrom, offer a visually appealing journey. However, the game's reliance on basic, unoriginal assets from the Smile Game Builder engine detracts from its potential to truly shine.
Narrative and Storytelling
The narrative of "The Adventurer - Episode 1: Beginning of the End" is its strongest aspect, akin to the enthralling tales told around the fireside in HowlStrom. The episodic story structure promises an evolving adventure, though it's somewhat marred by poor writing and translation issues.
Scootaloo's Verdict
As a Pegasus who thrives in the sprawling, icy expanse of HowlStrom, I found "The Adventurer - Episode 1: Beginning of the End" to be a mixed bag of enchanting moments overshadowed by technical and creative shortcomings. It's a game that, much like a journey through a snow-laden forest, shows glimmers of beauty but often feels aimless and incomplete.
Rating: 5 out of 10 HowlStrom Snowflakes
In conclusion, while "The Adventurer - Episode 1: Beginning of the End" offers a glimpse into a world of potential adventures, it falls short of delivering a fully satisfying gaming experience. It's a journey that starts with promise but gets lost in the blizzard of its own making.

This game is absolutely terrible. You fight the same fight 10 times in a row, only pressing Enter 50 times until the enemies are dead. The map is quite big, but totally empyt (other than 1000 invisible enemies who attack you). The music is really annoying. I would never recommend this game to anyone, you cant have fun while playing it and even the graphics cant help. Would still be a bad game if this was a Nintendo DS game.

The Adventurer - Episode 1: Beginning of the End" brings a unique and truly unforgettable experience to the gaming world. The first episode of the game reminds us how fascinating and exciting adventure games can be.
First of all, the game's graphics and visual design are mesmerizing. Each scene is detailed and meticulously designed, perfectly utilized to capture the atmosphere. The game world has a charm that draws the player in deep and makes them eager to explore. The details of the characters and environments add to the richness and depth of the game.
The story is engaging and gripping from start to finish. The development of the characters and their relationships is incredibly well written. The main character helps the player feel more connected to the world and going on adventures with him is a truly captivating experience.
The game mechanics are also very satisfying. The complexity of the puzzles makes the progression of the game immersive and the addition of new mechanics in each new chapter keeps the game fresh.
Furthermore, the music and sound design perfectly complement the atmosphere of the game. Each scene is brought to life with music and sound effects, enriching the player's sensory experience.
In conclusion, "The Adventurer - Episode 1: Beginning of the End" is not just a game, but a work of art. The creators of this game have made an incredible contribution to the gaming industry and offer players an unforgettable adventure. This is the
"The Adventurer - Episode 1: Beginning of the End" is yet another construction kit template copy+paste from serial shovelware pushers, SA Industry. These guys do nothing but copy premade game templates and game tutorials, fill out a few things/stamp out basic levels using the construction kit templates, slap on an asset flipped set of sprites/assets, and dump them on Steam and into cheap nasty shovelware game bundles as cash grabs. Trying to get paid for someone else's game templates, assets... at best, this is shovelware, at worst, it's a scam/cash grab.
This particular bit of pollution/scamware from our well known asset flipper/offender is one of hundreds of low effort JRPG construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, but this time, instead of being made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit, they used the even worse Smile RPG Builder. Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from the construction coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction, translated badly into English.
The point can be made that the intention of construction kit toys like Smile Game Builder is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development, as the developer has done here... but doing the ethical thing is far, far beyond SA Industry and his various shell accounts.
SA Industry/ZemunBRE have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. Here's some examples so you can see for yourself:

Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision.
The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the 1990s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only appears around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
It's also important to note the "developer" here has connections to a number of shady Russian asset flippers and review manipulators who show an organised pattern to scam and defraud gamers with fake reviews and asset flipping the work of others for profit. While reviews are about the games, gamers should be informed when developers act unethically. Whether these connections are the same developer using multiple accounts, or just working closely with other unethical developers, gamers should be warned about the harm to gamers by this developer and their associates. Buying games from unethical developers puts your money at risk.

Warning: Review Manipulation!
This game features a small number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews (some of them belong to other asset flippers, or possibly shell accounts for this "developer"). They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product.
"The Adventurer - Episode 1: Beginning of the End" has the farcical price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the unethical nature of the developer. Remember that if you buy a game from an unethical developer, you're putting your money at risk. Gamers who want a good retro JRPG experience would be better off playing the originals, like Final Fantasy, Star Ocean or Chrono Trigger.

Nice game for me. Thaks to the authors.
honestly, this game is only worth it for the badge. there are some funny moments and whatnot, but the game itself is only playable for like 30-45 minutes, reason being: IT DOESN'T HAVE AN ENDING. i would have set to "not recommended", but the badge gave me quite the laugh so..
