So.... got what it takes to be a X Slayer?!?... 7 weapons, blood and gore, twisted music by Seepage & Psyko Syndikate, and maps where you can blow up everything. its awesome. started making it in 1998 in high school with my friend and now im 37, so i have life experience now.

Very silly and utterly full of 90's cheese, in a good way. Levels and exploration were really good actually. I'm not quite sure if this game runs on the build engine or not, but it sure does feel like it. These feel like massive build engine levels with tons of interactivity in the environment, and many secrets to discover. The weapon roster is pretty amazing, and you can tell a lot of care went into the enemy design as well. Not the deepest or greatest boomer shooter out there, but this one has tons of charm and is much more well-designed than it seems as a first glance. I thoroughly enjoyed its shorter runtime. If you can grab this on a good sale I would recommend it.

[H1] Slayers X is the raw essence of the late 90's[/H1]

Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer is a charming little boomer shooter bathed in the culture and aesthetics of the late 90's internet and what a teenage boy growing at the time would find the coolest stuff ever.
It's perfect at what it does, holds no punches in its presentation and it's very high effort too. It even has those 90's terrible 3d cutscenes to tell the story. It doesn't get more authentic than that.

It's also a pretty solid game. Sure you've played better boomer shooters but this is on the higher end of competence. Levels are all very well designed, interconnected, with tons of fun little secrets. Encounters never once feel overbearing and everything is perfectly paced. I was playing on the highest difficulty and not once did I feel like I died due to some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I firmly believe boomer shooters live or die by their weapon selection and this game delivers. There's 7 weapons, all unique with a couple of (sometimes hidden) mechanics on each. A shotgun that you restock ammo from broken glass you find (or create) around the level, a grenade launcher that leaves rats behind that attack enemies, a gatling gun that makes you jump higher etc. The enemy variety also follows suit, even though I think some of their visual design is a bit lackluster.

It is a short game, of the usual "3 episode" format of most boomer shooters, this is just "1 episode" long plus a few extras.
The upside is the game does not outstay its welcome and if you don't play it from the toughest difficulty from the get go there is replayability to be had. Depending on difficulty encounters and the level itself are slightly different.

Can't go wrong with this one unless crass humor really puts you off but it's all part of the charm.

L'unica cosa negativa di questo gioco è che finisce, ho adorato parecchio lo stile da gioco fine anni 90 inizio 2000 con le cutscene e lo stile grafico degli FPS post Doom.

L'ironia è quel tipo trash divertente e tutto è curato nei dettagli.

Spero che un sequel sia già in cantiere così da fare più chiarezza sui personaggi introdotti nel finale.

"its time to chew ass and kick gum... and i'm all outta gum..."

a post-irony game! the game is completely serious and genuine (and has several sad parts if you think about it too much), presented in a sarcastic and ironic manner (listen. ♥♥♥♥ humor, not for everyone, me included, but suited the game and guy behind it.)

game play is super fun though, weapons are diverse, maps are expansive, music is killer; a nice bit of content to go with hypnospace outlaw. did you know the s-blade has a hackblood charge??
