This is one of my favorite memories as a kid in 4-5th grade, going to a new friends house for the night and she introduced me to this!!! One i will always come back to!!!
A good old fashioned "mystery meets player." Suspend criticism of the old graphics, and enjoy.
Once you get over the initial awkwardness of how the game works, it's really fantastic. Other than a few rare instances, the puzzles are actually very intuitive, so I don't understand the moon logic criticism that has been stubbornly attached to this game. It's far easier to play this game without a guide than GK1 or GK2.
Have to mount an CD image to play, but other than that I didn't have to jump through any technical hoops. Played with a controller, I made bindings for the DualSense, feel free to check out my controller profile. I found it to work very well. I didn't label it, but the right trigger is a Ctrl+Click which focuses the camera on anything of interest, which streamlines the whole thing. Left trigger for left clicking, right stick for mouse. You can figure out the rest! There's a guide to set it up on Steam Deck that's a little more complex, but it's easy to follow.
Really recommend this one. It's really well written, unique, and oddly ahead of its time.
Sadly, the Steam version doesn't work - it still asks for a CD.
The game itself is absolutely brilliant, but *not* your typical adventure game. It's more of an investigative adventure game where interaction with people, exploration etc. are key mechanics, rather than straight puzzles. For this reason alone, it's worth a try. But combined with the storyline, which weaves together ancient conspiracies - chef's kiss.

Wow what kind of bizarre ride was that!? The puzzles were annoying and the game crashed 41 times but damn the game is good and Gabe is good. I am craving another Gabe entry, I need to see Gabe and Grace reunite!

I have never managed to log on to the game. STEAM is a huge obstacle. Like many people, I cannot get anything anywhere at STEAM.
Although it's a little tricky to run on newer computers, it is absolutely worth it. The best of an already excellent series. It is an early foray into 3D animation, so it's polygon animation that is, in some cases, hilariously awful (like Gabriel's partner Grace looks like she's suffering from severe kyphosis/hunchback and everyone's hair is angular). Again, just look past the silliness of the graphics. If you have a thing (I do) for the lost treasure of the Templars, this is one of its best iterations It brings in the material from Holy Blood, Holy Grail (and the writer didn't get sued over it like Dan Brown because she credited this source), which is that the Holy Grail relates to the bloodline of Christ. Any more would be spoilers, but that's just the beginning of the mystery. The puzzles are great, the voicing is great, the writing is great. One thing I really hated about the Syberia games is there were very few things you could highlight that weren't part of the main story. Tim Curry again voices Gabriel, and his dialogue options are hilarious. In fact, click any time you get the "light bulb" icon on anything. You get info, and when you don't, you get Gabriel cracking wise as only Curry can. Also Mosley from the first game has returned, and he's still the perfect foil for Gabe's wit. Grace gets to run a program on an in-game computer. Again, if you've ever flirted with the mystical and things like sacred geometry, you will love this. The interpretation of the treasure and how they handle it is what keeps me coming back (on my 4th playthrough) and, because you can beat the game without scoring all points, it really does have replay value. If you have mourned the loss of the great old Sierra games, grab this!
This was my first gabriel knight game 21 years ago, i was hooked instantly, Tim Curry aka Gabriel Knight is laugh out loud funny (recommend looking at everything) and also serious when the time is right. Gameplay great, story great, acting awesome.
Laughable gameplay and graphics sorry. Even for late 90s this was bad across the board. Why would PC gamers in 1999 subject themselves to convoluted puzzle design, awkward controls, and ugly art style when they could play Half Life, System Shock 2, Age of Empires, Unreal Tournament, Thief, Command & Conquer among others. Or if gamers wanted to stick with point and clicks, plenty of other classics to choose from. I stuck with it anyhow but would not recommend it to my enemies.
I'm not sure why everyone is saying this game is broken. I had the same issues but it took me three minutes to fix. 9/2024 on Windows 11

2)Mount to the drive. Leave it empty.
3)Voila, insert disk 1 message gone
For graphics, go into the in game settings. turn off incremental rendering. Graphics issues fixed. Don't bother with compatibility mode.

This is a recommendation but a tough one.
Keep the following negatives in mind:
1. The game is difficult to get working on modern systems but it is possible by following several guides online and using dgvoodoo2. This is not the easiest thing in the world to do.
2. The game has some of the most difficult puzzles in adventure game history. I'd only play this with a full walkthrough from start to finish to reduce time wasted.
3. The user interface is quite awful but you do get used to it. Its kind of unique and eventually you can even start to appreciate it as it allows you to do things that no other game has done before or since.
4. The graphics are horribly dated compared to the first two games in the series. Its got that early 3D look that has aged like goat milk.
Despite these big problems, I felt compelled to complete this game as I am a big fan of the Gabriel Knight series. It took me multiple attempts and a lot of configuration changes to get into this game but when I finally got it working and gave it a real chance, it was GREAT.
Some of the positives:
1. This game has a fantastic story. Despite all of the horrible problems, the story is just as strong as the previous two games.
2. Although this game has some of the worst puzzles in adventure game history, it also has some of the best.
3. The voice acting is great. Tim Curry is a bit too over the top this time round but it added to the charm.
4. As previously mentioned the unique user interface allows for some great interactions with the environment that you have never seen before and will never see again.
5. The game has a lot of great humour throughout.
Yeah, give us your money, we don't support our product at all. Thanky you, have fun with a dead game, bye.

I remember when I bought this game in its own CD case all wrapped up ready to play. I bought it from Walmart! This was back in the day when you can only buy PC games at the store, instead of online, when modem was a thing and AOL existed. This is a very old game, but I still love it to this very day! I remember running Tim Curry's line "Is anyone there? I would like to buy a bike!" over and over! Why? Because I thought it was hilarious for some reason. You'll need to save this game consistently in order to beat it. Luckily, you can save it any time during the game. It doesn't have auto-save, so you'll have to save it yourself. Even though this game was made in 1999, it has remained one of my favorite games I've ever played.
Gabriel Knight is the funniest person I've ever known! I really like his girlfriend too, or colleague. I've always been fascinated with vampires and I've read all the Anne Rice books. This is a very nice addition to the history and the realm of vampires!
If you like vampires or Dracula, you'll love playing this game. It does have a bug, but you can download the fix easily.
I think it's definitely worth playing.

Leider ist Gabriel Knight 3 schlecht gealtert. Es läuft jedoch mit ein paar Tricks unter Windows 10. Ich verwende dgvodoo und dann ist auch die 3D-Beschleunigung aktiv verwendbar. Bisher hatte ich 3 Abstürze, die beim Szenenwechsel auftreten. Empfohlen ist somit ein Schnellspeichern vor jedem entsprechenden Wechsel.

P.S. There's a guide in the community workshop that you USED TO be able to use to fix this game. It doesn't work anymore. Or it never did and the dozens of people who upvoted it lied. Anyway, in the end, Steam is the biggest liar and needs to be shut down.
This game should not be sold on Steam in its current state. You will most likely not be able to get it running on modern hardware. Such a damn shame.

Reading other player's reviews and opinions I was expecting a way worse game, but this is great. Granted it took me close to an hour of tinkering to make it work, but with dgvoodoo2 the experience has been flawless until now. Just turn up the gamma ingame after installing dgvoodoo if it makes it darker, like it happened in my case.
First impressions: the 3d world is very detailed and the best part is the camera that has total freedom, ie you can look under a bed, in a trashcan, essentially anything from any angle. It's kinda gimmicky to move it around, but a couple feature makes it easier (default cameras for every room, auto inspect etc).
Gone is the omni-click from GK2 that summed up every possible action and instead here for every object you have a list of different possible actions (look, open/close, pickup, talk, operate, use, think etc). The town I'm in now seems fully explorable and pretty big. It seems the kind of game that rewards observant, thorough players. It started very well. Also Tim Curry is back.
UPDATE: ended the thing, I can confirm all my first impressions, and that the game runs smoothly until.the end once the tedious setup it's over.
Final rate: 11/10, probably the best adventure game there is period, surely better than its 2 predecessors. They poured a lot of development juice into this game and it shows. Technically and from a story and lore viewpoint. The humor is also overkill, like.. every single comment or exchange with anyone is too freaking funny.
The scope of the game is massive too, maybe too much, and towards the end there are a couple of very badly designed enigmas as a result, along with some other little issues that couldn't evidently be polished out in time for release.
If it's so great, then why isn't this game more acclaimed? well apparently the adventure game era was over by the time GK3 hit the shelf, and now steam sells a broken version that requires the user to fix it woth external tools and sources in order to play it. BUT IT IS WORTH IT. Way better than any indiana jones or monkey island

Is this game a masterpiece? Nooooo, this adventure is as bad as everyone says.
Unsolvable puzzles without real connection to the story (how to obtain the cat hair was not the worst!) and an awful user interface make this game borderline unplayable. I still finished it in over 20 hours, using a walkthrough frequently and wondering how someone could design such an atrocity. A large part of the game consists of reading puzzles and then placing and connecting points on a map... no idea how anyone could guess this, although one of my friends actually told me he liked that part.
There are certainly good aspects as well, like the professional speech and the well-written dialogues. Even the cutscenes are nice, and the game is quite long as well. I enjoyed the last part, when you were finally down in the underground temple with its fiendish deathtraps. Sierra certainly did invest money in the production. The 3D visuals look awful today, but they were state of the art for 1996 and somehow gave me a fuzzy feeling remembering my younger days (or other, better games from that time).

The GK series is one of my all-time favs in the point and click category. Overall, I am glad I played GK3. It takes some time to get used to the controls and camera views, has some very difficult puzzles (you'll need some hints, no doubt). But its definitely worth playing if you are a fan of the franchise and story.

One of the best Jane Jensen's works in terms of story and game design. The only downside is the voiceover of Gabriel, somehow the actor made a complete jerk out of him, and it is out of character.
Be warned, to play this game today you most likely need to install dgVoodoo drivers, otherwise the game will crash a lot. It is free though.
But the game is highly recommended if you like classic adventure with murder investigations and historical references.
Broken and unlikely to be fixed here on steam. A great game, but utterly crippled.
This game, this story, simply amazing, hermetism, freemasons , priory of sion, conspiracies, Jensen is seriously involved with esoterism, occultism etc. Don't let the graphics fool you or some minor problems that can easily be fixed, this is a great story that is told. I really enjoyed this game more than GK1 and GK2.

It's time to pull this game from all digital stores!
Gabriel Knight 3 is a classic point and click adventure, and one of my personal favorites. It has a great story, some good puzzles, some notoriously bad puzzles. But overall, I recommend every adventure fan to try it at least once. That being said, the game does not work, this includes both GOG and Steam. Every quote unquote 'fix' does not solve the problem, and all forums that had fixes are no longer working! The "Please Insert CD1" warning STILL persists, and has been a problem ever since DAY 1 of it's release for digital distributors (2010 for GOG and 2016 for Steam). And even if you get passed that warning, the game runs like complete garbage. Frame-rate hitches, graphical glitches, and constant game crashes. Forcing me to restart the game, only to encounter the bloody "CD1" warning all over again!! And on top of ALL That, if you're trying to play this on Windows 11, every fix that DID work, will not even work anymore.
I've tried running it in compatibility mode, nothing.
I've tried mounting the files in an .iso image file, nothing.
I've tried using an external disc drive, nothing.
I've tried running it in a virtual machine, nothing.
I've tried using DGVoodoo, nothing.
I've tried using Daemon, nothing.
I've tried using a patched .exe file from forums, nothing!
Activision needs to take responsibility and either fix it, or pull it. They know it doesn't work, they know it's still for sale, and yet they don't care as they screw people out of money for a broken game! The sheer incompetence, and obvious neglect from this publisher for even the smallest of support is apparent. If this problem does not get resolved, then I will be filing a lawsuit over them for selling a defective product, and I suggest you to do the same. If you are going to experience GK3, you have NO choice but to purchase a physical copy, and a computer with an older OS installed. Save your $6 for a game that actually WORKS!

Do not buy this game, it's unplayable. After a lot of research and changes you are able to get it to run. However it's is extremely laggy still. But what makes it unplayable is that there's a 50 percent chance the game crashes anytime you go to a different zone. And there's a 50 percent chance this crash causes the game's screen to be frozen , where you can't even access the task manager to force close it. I've deleted and installed this game multiple times as I keep wanting to give it a chance as I love the series. But in the end I'm forced to delete the game and admire how Steam can actually still sell a game that doesn't work. It's straight up theft.

Jane Jensen is master story teller - the best in the business. Blends resonating lore, historical facts and authentic fiction in a superior mix like no other dev. Gabriel Knight 1, 2 and 3 are the best interactive story in the history of gaming. I just adore this series.
C'est un jeu de la fin des années 90, il faut vraiment passer outre la qualité des graphismes. A côté je trouve que scénaristiquement parlant, c'est le meilleur de la trilogie avec une histoire fouillée et intiment liée à des ressorts historiques où le réel et l'imagination de Jane Jensen se mélangent avec brio. I will make this as simple as possible, without these steps the game wont work, which is a shame because its a good game, first step get daemon lite free edition and mount a drive, very easy, doesnt have to have any additional files or software. Start game, right click for settings, go graphics, untick the incremental rendering, and change driver to software render, this is the best your going to get it, you dont want to go down the road of mods because they simply dont work well. Doing these steps prevents insert disc 1, prevents graphic flitters, prevents crashing and is the best performance your going to get in its simplest form
Final game in the Gabriel Knight series and it's one from the time when they thought every game should have 3D graphics just because it was the latest thing regardless of whether it actually looked good or not. (Spoiler: it doesn't.) That aside, gameplay-wise, it's probably the best concept for 3D point & click adventures that was ever used. You freely control the camera and except for the rather cumbersome inventory, everything plays well and quickly.
The puzzles are mostly alright, but as a franchise staple, the game suffers from hardly ever telling you or even hinting at what you are currently supposed to do or what problems you are able to solve at the moment. It uses a semi-real-time-system with progressing time-slots in which things happen according to a scripted schedule, which keeps the gameworld fresh, but also means walking to and fro all the locations over and over again to check where something new is going on without, of course, any indication for where you should check for the most part. It also means you sometimes have to hunt for the one specific action that is still required to complete a time slot and that you can miss certain events, clues, pieces of evidence and dialogue.
The story is once again pretty good. The way it mixes history, mythology and local scenery into a fantastic tale is captivating and while it has supernatural aspects, it's great you spend most of your time with scientific research and regular events. The Gabriel Knight series is marketed as a horror series, but it's more like you play as someone who reads a horror novel than someone who engages much with any horror elements directly.
Unfortunately, the title giving protagonist is almost unbearable. He was always a tongue-in-cheek American douchebag stereotype joke, but with the sarcastic charme and goofiness that makes you like him anyways. In the previous games, though, he was never outright unlikable and grotesquely sleazoid like in this one. He comes across as that pervy uncle who remarks on how much his underage niece has grown in all the right places since last he saw her and is outright mean and condescending towards people. I don't understand why Tim Curry's voice acting for this is being praised so much, either, as he speaks almost every line in the same please-punch-me-in-the-face tone and mostly just sounds like a cross between a moron and a drunken creep harassing women at a bar. His performance alone kept me from enjoying the game as much as it otherwise deserves, but it's not just the voice overs but the awful lines they wrote for him, too.
Still, it's a great game and a classic for a reason. However, playing it on modern systems comes with a few difficulties, so better read about it in the forum here. One thing that's seriously annoying is how much the game crashes, so if you want to give it a try, remember to save your game regularly and frequently, because there's no auto-saving and the game crashes and freezes A LOT.
Works finally, but you need to use Virtual CloneDrive
The weakest Gabriel Knight game, but still a great time. Ironically has some of the BEST adventure game puzzles (the stuff Grace does on Sidney) and the infamously WORST one (the mustache and everything around it.) Very unique way of navigating the environment from before everything became standardized, which works just fine and is charmingly experimental. The story is a fun blend of vampires and Christian apocrypha and murder with a ton of history, the Jane Jensen special. The last section is a little weak, with a bunch of deathtraps out of nowhere, but that's nothing new for Gabriel Knight games, and the rest is strong enough to make up for it.
Worst thing of course is that "out of the box" on Steam the game will simply not work on modern operating systems. You will need to
1.) Set up a virtual CD drive if you computer doesn't have one
2.) Download and setup a third party program (DGVoodo2) to make it run
It's pretty awful and someone should really do something about it.
TL;DR
A flawed, but great adventure game that is absolutely worth playing, but the hoops that Steam and even GOG require you to jump through to get it to run are really crappy. Solid recommendation, but I totally get if the work you have to do to even play it is too much for you, especially with plenty of other great adventure games that run just fine out there!
This game has not aged well. The voice acting was iffy and the graphics is expected for an older game. Even on a modern gaming computer, the gameplay for clunky and jerky. On Windows 10, the game would crash constantly between area transitions and I had to save the game regularly to not lose progress. However, I will still give this game a *positive* because despite it's problems, it has a great story line and there were some innovative puzzles in the SIDNEY sections.
Firstly -> The game as is on steam is unplayable. There are several guides both here and online to help getting it running, without them you will get stopped by the game requiring a game disk or else graphical errors that make it unplayable. Honestly unreal that this game was uploaded as it is and allowed to be sold at this price.
That aside, this game is.... alright. I wish I could give this game a "meh" instead of a yes/no. I played this after playing GK1 and GK2 and imo this is the worst of the bunch.
The graphics and controls make it really difficult to navigate and most of the puzzles and obstacles are impossible without a guide. The story felt unfinished, too many elements that went no where, most of the time the story is just characters explaining whats happening to each other and left me confused. The story needed editing and focus, by the time I reached the final day I was tangled in knots trying to keep track of everything being introduced. The main goal is supposed to be to find a kidnapped baby and every character drops it to learn local history and look for treasure, its very confusing. The characterisation is the worst of the three as well, Gabriel is insufferable and not in a fun way. Grace lost her character growth from the previous game. Mosely is there, terrible.
However - there were some genuinely enjoyable puzzles, very fun campy moments, and the fmvs are delightful in how over the top and silly they are. The ending was beyond silly, which had me howling with laughter and made the game worth it. The historical and historical fiction facts packed in are very interesting on their own, the computer system is very ambitious and fun despite feeling underdeveloped, the sheer amount of actions and dialouge and scenes is still impressive despite this game being over 20 years old. There is a lot to enjoy here.
If you are a fan of the series or this era of point and click its worth a playthrough for these experiences, otherwise its not worth the slog.
Classic
A game well ahead of its time in terms of quality storytelling and gameplay. Its a top top franchise. the writing and thought placed behind all three games in the series are very detailed. It weaves real life knowledge and events with fiction and makes the fictional parts seem believable and even plausible in an alternate reality. Its been over 20 years but I hope serious thought gets placed in reviving the series and making a part 4 & 5 and give the series a swansong it deserves.
I absolutely love Gabriel Knight 3. But the Steam version is broken to the point that you cannot even start playing it.
The gog.com version is working fine and is even better with dgvoodoo2.
So buy the gog.com version and ignore the Steam version.
I tried contacting both Activision and Steam but both have so far done nothing to fix the Steam version.
Activision refuses to accept responsibility for the problem and said i should contact Steam. Steam so far has said that i need to contact Activision. I'm still in contact with Steam but since i agree that its Activision that has to fix this, there is little hope for a solution.
How the **** is it acceptable that Activision still sells a broken game? If you do not want to fix it, fine but stop selling it then.
[Edit] Apparently its just looking for "a" cd/dvd drive not the actual cd. So just mount and iso file and everything should work. Still annoying though.
I'd definitely recommend it, but if you run into any of the graphics issues, make sure to get into the graphics menu and change it software renderer. There's also all sorts of fixes for issues in the discussions.

다 넣어보고 시도해보는 시에라의 3d로 만든 새로운 어드벤처 게임이라고는 하지만..
어드벤처 게임 치고는 3D 모델링에 너무 치중을 한 나머지 너무 스케일이 커져버리고 만 것 같습니다.
1편과 2편에서는 게임 내의 레이아웃이 정해져있어서 가끔 맵을 어딜 눌러야 다른 곳으로 갈 수 있을지 헷갈려했다면
3편은 그냥 모든게 흐드러집니다. 영양가 없이 굳이 보이지 않아도 될 모델링까지 구현하느라 맵 디자이너도 울고
지금 늦게 이 게임을 하며 화면 호환성이 너무 쓰레기라서 까만 화면이 덜덜 떨리는 것을 보는 저도 울고
제 컴퓨터도 이 게임의 구린 최적화에 울고있습니다..
1편과 2편에서도 화면이 갇힌 어드벤쳐게임이었지만 시간차로 인한 퍼즐이 있기는 했지만 3편처럼 대놓고 모든 게임 플레이를

И напишу я на это чудо обзор, которое запустить то не так просто. Ооо спасибо, ооо великий рандом, это было не просто. Ожидать от игры этой было можно чего угодно, квест прямиком с 98 года. Представляете? Ага, первые впечатления от осознания того, что мне в нее играть - это: "А она у меня вообще запустится?". - Оказалось мр. Нихуй Фигушеньков заглядывает в этот раздел, но об этом позже. Я на самом деле даже не помню от куда у меня эта игра)
[h1]Хорошенькое:[/h1]
1) Сюжет. Ну сюжет довольно интересный. Столько всего намешали в одну корзину, похоже на салат из всего что осталось дома - заговоры, религия, какие-то вампиры, иллюминаты, пришельцы, я все и не вспомню. Порой сидишь такой втыкаешь в точку, и размышляешь: ♥♥♥♥ вообще происходит. Ну да ладно: как обычно, водянистая часть, оооо игре. Итак, мы играем за мужицкого пацана которого зовут - Night, Gabriel Night, он вроде как частный сыщик, ну знаете вот эти вот все ваши и мои Шерлоки Холмсы, а не, стопе, иногда мы играем еще и за его давнюю подругу. Короче не так сильно важно. Мы приезжаем в маленький городок, в поисках очень мелкого дитя некого принца Джеймса, просто его похитили, и вот этот "предок короля" нас нанял для этого. Вооот. Все это гласит что мы будем занимать детектив делами, потом еще и окажется что не все так просто и тд и тп
2) Классика. Ну как бы можно ознакомиться, много где читал что это чуть ли не лучший квест.
3) Персонажи. Почти все персонажи интересные. Они вам небезразличны, вызывают различные эмоции, в основном они выбешивают, а близкое окружение главного героя радует.
4) Диалоги и юмор. Начну с диалогов. Почти всегда если персонажи интересны то и диалоги являются таковыми. Эта игра не исключение. Очень часто гг-шка юморит и в диалогах, и просто когда вы в очередной раз не правильно решаете головоломку в своем странном стиле, это прикольно и забавно. Но хочу отметить, что часто встречаются игры, где диалоги сильнее.

1) Техническая часть. Вообще я обычно не затрагиваю ее, потому как не считаю это важным. Тут это не сделать будет действительно преступлением. Как мы знаем старые игры очень часто ведут себе херовенько на новых пк, вот это поворот, конечно. Сейчас я поведаю вам свои все проблемы которые, скорее всего, будут вас ожидать и те с которыми столкнулся лично. И начнем пожалуй с запуска, ооо жесть. После установки игры, игра по обычаю должна запускаться через ярлычок или через знаменательную клавишу играть в стиме. Каково же было мое изумление когда на экране появилась надпись Insert CD 1, презрительно посмотрев на свой DVD привод, я понял что у меня его вообще как бы нет, он не работает с момента покупки. Да и вообще что за ♥♥♥♥♥? Какой еще CD ты от меня требуешь? Да еще и первый, их что два? Спойлер - 3. Немного подумав я вооружившись минилопатой и вполне себе обыкновенной кружкой чая обнаружил файлик который следовало заменить в папке с игрой, что бы этой хрени не было. Замечательно. Захожу в игру: Во-первых, все лагает что эти 5фпсов плакать будут. Во-вторых, на экране квадрат. В-третьих, нет локализации, в квесте без субтитров, ахуенно. Это потом я уже обнаружил что субтитры есть просто они как то включаются странно в настройках, я не догадался сразу. Да даже если бы и догадался их прочитать не всегда успеваешь. Поэтому, собрав все личности было принято решение исправлять эти три "во-первых". Первое "во-первых" я исправил установив вуду, погоди-погоди dgVooDoo, только эту херобобу не так уж и просто запустить, перебрав все различные ddl она внезапно запустилась, да еще и с нужным разрешением, фантастика, подумал я. Два пука, ой, два пункта одним махом, мне словно перст исправляющий игры дали, только после середины игры понял, что мне вышло это боком, но об этом позже. С третьим "во-первых" вышло сложнее. Очень долго рыскав по интернету я так и не нашел руссификатор, который бы поставился на стим версию, почему? Да хрен его знает, я вообще не понимаю логику происходящего. Потом параллельно играя и продолжая искать великий и могучий руссич. Я нахожу сборки установщиков с русским языком. Поставил, ха, это херата, так же требует CD1, это уже не смешно? И самое интересное, замена ехешника не помогает. Так бле, пошли за образами, скачал три образа трех дисков. Перед каждым запускам запуская нужный. Установив снова вуду и попробовав установить руссификатор звука. И знаете что? На эту версию встал руссификатор звука, ЧТО ЗА ПЗД? Запускаю, помните я говорил, что играл параллельно? Сохранения тут не запускаются, просто Ваааау. Вуаля играю, хе-хе-хе, Нееее, стойте, я же говорил что разрешение вышло мне боком. Так вот, смотри, оказывается при широкоформатном разрешении, багается компьютер Сидней, и в нем если ты первый раз зашел в него в широкойформе, ты не сможешь открыть почту - НИКОГДА, просто НИКОГДА. Даже если менять разрешение обратно, а с этим багам ты не сможешь открыть письмо, а значит не сможешь разгадать загадку, даже если подсмотришь в интернуте. Эта игра просто имба, когда сражаешься против своих нервов. Крч, я скачал сохранения, благо какой-то дядя знал что может такое случиться. Ну если я все правильно помню, больше проблем не было, потом прошел игру.
2) Графика. Кто-нибудь ожидал другого? Минимум полигонов максимум пикселов.
3) Геймплей. Ничего особенного, курсором тыкаем по экрану в поисках взаимодействий. Но тут это не главное поэтому следующий пункт.
4) Головоломки и понимание, что делать. Хрен разберешь куда идти и что делать, если бы не гайды ходил бы я часами туда-сюда не понимаю что делать. Чтоб вы знали, читаю куда идти приходу делаю и даже после этого в голове вопрос, а почему? Зачем? И главное в чем логика? И такое происходит почти всю игру. Да мне говорили на эту тему, что вот дескать очень старая игра там так, но на днях я прошел The Longest Journey - и там было почти всегда все понятно.

Таак, Я уверен что есть многие кому она зайдет или же те у кого играет ностальгия. Но сейчас получить от нее удовольствие от неподготовленного человека будет сложно. Да я даже не уверен что кто-то будет прорываться через все эти трудности что бы в нее сыграть все же. Мне она не понравилась и рекомендовать ее не могу, но тот кто не обращает внимания на графику, любит квесты и классику и готов побороться запуском, вперед можете попробовать.

Does not work at all.
There was an annoying error asking for to INSERT CD 1, and other bugs of the game.
If steam did not fixed at the time you bought and try playing. You need to install something like Daemon Tool Lite to simulate a driver if you don't have one or need to simulate it. You also need to fix the graphics inside the game if it is not correct and even change the GK3.exe file for some from internet that works. Steam will for sure fix them in the future.
So out of these problems ans playing the game.
It is nice. You get used after some time to move around using keyboard or mouse.
Do not expect something like GK2, there is not real actors but the voices are great.
My feeling playing this is that you definitely will need to use a walk through to not become a skull in your desk trying to solve SIDNEY mysteries and maybe others.
As it is an old game, old technologies I cannot compare it to recent ones.
For the ones who like this type of adventures, detective stories and mysteries, I super recommend.
this was my first game in the series. got hooked on this series after that. if you like well made mystery games. this is a definite recommend.
This game had too many technical issues. They're common from what it seems like in the forums. I had to download software to get it to start, then when it did, it had bright flashes and visual glitches that made it unpleasant to play, then it crashed often. It took one hour of gameplay to look around a hotel room and go downstairs. Really frustrating. I kept going way longer than I would have because I loved the other two games so much.
It won't launch! It's telling me to insert disc 1. I obviously can't do that on my laptop!
Broken game tried fixes but still locking up every 5 minutes. Such a shame from what i played it had promise, excluding that Gabriel seemed to more stupid and his voice sounds more redneck than in one and two.
Still enjoy the story. Still miss these good old Sierra games and wish a lot of them got a good remake to the current game standards...
1. Кривой релиз в Стиме. Игра банально не запускается без танцев с бубном, требуя вставить диск (обходится, если смонтировать любой образ). В самой игре огромное количество графических багов, она лагает и вылетает постоянно (необходимо использовать врапер, игра продолжает лагать, но хоть не вылетает и с графикой всё более-менее)
2. Сюжет интригует, но подается очень нудно, а местами скомкано. Управление в этой части просто отвратительное, неудобное и долгое. Управляешь не самим персонажем, а камерой. Не понимаю, в чем была цель такого эксперимента с управлением, почему нельзя было сделать стандартное управление персонажем.
Из плюсов этой части можно отменить лишь юмор, которые местами очень годный, но в целом игру не спасает.
Dieser dritte Teil ist der schwächste der Trilogie. Die Geschichte ist eigentlich recht gut, aber die grafische Umsetzung fand ich damals schon furchtbar. Ich habe es mir aus nostalgischen Gründen trotzdem noch einmal zugelegt, da die CD-Version nicht mehr funktioniert hat. In einem früheren Post gibt es Hinweise auf ein kleines Progrämmchen, um diese Version zum Laufen zu bekommen. Für GK 1 und 2 würde ich jeweils 9-10 von 10 Punkten geben, dieses bekommt 6 von mir.
Leider ist dieses großartige Adventure mit Windows 10 nicht spielbar und daher gibt es einen Daumen nach unten.
Besitzt man ein CD-Laufwerk (Unglaublich aber wahr: Das Spiel erwartet eins!) und gelangt ins Spiel, wird man von flackernden Texturen begrüßt. Schade! Auch schade ist es, dass es nur die englische Version ist. Ich besitze auf CD die deutsche Version.

1999 wurde der dritte Teil der Gabriel Knight Reihe veröffentlicht. Ich würde empfehlen die Teile in der richtigen Reihenfolge zu spielen, da sich sonst dem Spieler einige Dinge und Zusammenhänge nicht vollständig erschließen.
[b] Geschichte und Charaktere: [/b]
Gabriel Knight ist ein Privatdetektiv für das Übernatürliche, ein Schattenjäger. Zudem ist er auch Buchautor. Im ersten Teil ermittelte Gabriel in New Orleans in der Voodoo-Szene, im zweiten Teil jagte Gabriel in Deutschland einen Werwolf. Diesmal verschlägt es den Schattenjäger nach Frankreich.
Gabriel hat den Auftrag das entführte Kind eines Prinzen zu finden und zu retten. Seine Ermittlungen führen ihn in das französische Dorf Rennes-le-Château. Was haben eine Gruppe von Touristen, eine Schatzsuche in diesem Ort, der Heilige Gral, eine Blutlinie und mysteriöse Morde mit dieser Entführung zu tun? Diesmal muss sich der Schattenjäger mit Vampiren auseinandersetzen.
Unterstützung bekommt Gabriel dabei von seiner Assistentin Grace Nakimura und seinem Freund Mosley, der Polizist in New Orleans ist. Spielern und Fans sind die Charaktere aus den vorherigen Teilen bekannt. Mosley macht zufälligerweise Urlaub in Rennes-le-Château und nimmt an der Schatzsuche nach dem heiligen Gral teil.
Gabriel und Grace sind spielbare Charaktere.

[*] [b] Grafikprobleme: [/b] Ich habe die schlimmsten Grafikprobleme mit Hilfe der Anwendung “dgVoodoo” in den Griff bekommen. Allerdings blieben kleine Fehler, aber im Grunde war das Spiel so spielbar. Anhand meiner Screenshots lässt sich erkennen, dass das Spiel halbwegs passabel lief.

Die Steuerung ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber mit Hilfe der Anleitung im Spiel kann man zurechtkommen. Mit gedrückter linker Maustaste zoomen und dann per Click interagieren. Die Kamera-Einstellungen sind oftmals sehr unglücklich und verändern sich durch das Zoomen. Man kann über ein Menü die Kamera-Position neu ausrichten.
[b] Grafik / Ton / Rätsel: [/b]
Die Grafik ist sicherlich nicht die Schönste. Ich fand sie ehrlich gesagt schon 1999 genau so hässlich wie heute. Allerdings ist sie schon wieder so markant und einzigartig, dass es schon fast als Kunst durchgehen könnte. Modernere Titel sind grafisch nicht weniger hässlich. Man schaue sich nur “State of Mind” oder “Virgina” an.
Die Musik ist 1a, ebenso wie bei den Vorgängern. Wenn man den Patch installiert hat, bekommt man auch eine vollständige deutsche Sprachausgabe. Nur Grace spricht einmal einen Satz in Englisch, wenn man sich ein Objekt im Inventar ansieht. Das wurde wohl vergessen zu übersetzen. Sonst bin ich mit der deutschen Sprachausgabe zufrieden und mir ist immer noch Gabriels “Neeeähey, das geht so nicht!” im Gehör.
Die Rätsel decken das gesamte Spektrum ab. Von “an den Haaren herbeigezogen” bis genial ist alles dabei. Die Verkleidung für Gabriel zusammenstellen... na, ja das hätte man beim Rätsel-Designe besser lösen können und wohl müssen. Genial sind hingegen die SIDNEY-Rätsel (SIDNEY = Schattenjäger-Informations-Datenbank) und das Lösen des Rätsels “Le Serpent Rouge”. Die Rätsel sind teilweise sehr fordernd, aber zu bewältigen. Wer seine grauen Zellen schonen möchte, kann auch auf eine der diversen Komplettlösungen im Internet zurückgreifen. An manchen Stellen musste ich auch von einer Komplettlösung Gebrauch machen.
[b] Geschichtlicher Hintergrund: [/b]
Wie schon in Teil 2 fühlt sich das Spiel teilweise wie eine Geschichtsnachhilfestunde an. Ich fand es bereichernd und interessant. Andere finden es wohlmöglich öde. Der Besuch im Museum liegt eben nicht jedem, da scheiden sich die Geschmäcker.
[b] Fan-Fiktion: [/b]
Selten habe ich mir für ein Spiel mehr eine Remastered-Version / Special Edition bzw. ein Remake gewünscht als für Gabriel Knight 3. Darüber hinaus würde ich mir eine Fortsetzung der Reihe wünschen. Vielleicht könnte Crazy Bunch zusammen mit Assemble Entertainment hier ein Reboot der Reihe realisieren? Mit der Sierra-Kult-Reihe "Larry" ist das dem deutschen Entwickler und Publisher Team sehr gut gelungen. Warum nicht auch mit der Sierra-Kult-Reihe "Gabriel Knight"? Ein vierter Teil wäre sicher ein Traum für alle Gabriel Knight Fans.
[b] Fazit: [/b]
Meiner Meinung nach “storytechnisch” der stärkste Gabriel Knight Teil.
Wer sich mit der Grafik und manchen Macken arrangieren kann, erhält unterm Strich eine gute Unterhaltung. Das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis ist mehr als fair.

This is a very hard game to love if you aren't a fan of the series when you start. While the developers took big chances - and saw big returns - with the first two games, the early decision to make the third game with rudimentary 3D graphics was an unfortunate mistake. Regardless of the clunky interface and visuals, this game is one last chance to solve a mystery alongside our favorite Schattenjager, Gabriel Knight. While Tim Curry returns to the lead role, his performance is filled with mockery and comes across poorly at times. Still, the voice-work is strong overall, as is the music. If you enjoyed other games in the series, this one deserves your time - but don't start here and expect to know what's going on.
El juego una vez instalado pide que inserte el CD 1. Por lo que he estado leyendo de otros usuarios este error lleva desde 2016, yo escribo esta reseña en 2021 y todavía no lo han solucionado. Al parecer realizando ciertos ajustes se puede eliminar este error, pero no es el usuario el que tiene que corregir errores. Tal y como se ofrece el juego es injugable, es un bug en sí mismo.

"Please Insert CD1" is a game from Sierra On-Line and Activision. It was once Gabriel Knight 3, an old point and click adventure game.
Now, however, it's a game that's fundamentally broken, doesn't launch on Steam, and yet is being sold for a whopping $10 by a bunch of crook game devs who know the game is broken, will never fix it, but keep it on Steam in the hopes they can scam gamers out of money. Really unethical stuff.
Don't buy this, it doesn't work.

spannende Story, interessante Charaktere, innovative Kameraführung, tolle Synchronsprecher (auch mit german patch). Die Grafik ist veraltet und funktioniert auf modernen Systemen nur im Softwaremodus fehlerfrei. Trotzdem empfehlenswert.
Update 2023: Es gibt mittlerweile eine Mod auf nexus mods, die die 3D Hardwarebeschleunigung ohne crash möglich macht (Windows 10 Fix)
J'avais adoré ce 3eme opus de la série et malgré les commentaires, j'ai donc tenté le coup lors d'une remise.
Contrairement à de nombreux joueurs, je n'ai pas eu de problème au lancement ni de bug en cours de route.
A vous de voir, donc, si vous prenez le risque.
Côté jeu, un régal de retrouver Gabriel et Grace dans cette intrigue palpitante, bien ficelée, qui sait éviter la linéarité et l'accumulation de casse-tête au détriment du scénario qu'on retrouve sur de nombreux point & click plus récents.
Une vraie enquête, donc avec des énigmes parfois très ardues (d'autant qu'il est difficile de trouver des soluces approfondies quand on sèche vraiment), le tout sur fond d'occultisme autour du mystère du trésor de Rennes le Château
A noter que le jeu est en anglais non sous titré ce qui ne facilite pas la tache.
Bien sûr, le graphisme va paraître d'un autre temps aux plus jeunes mais si vous passez outre, vous apprécierez la reconstitution très fidèle des lieux (Rennes le Château et ses environs), la documentation historique très complète avec un bon vieux complot mélangeant Templiers, Egypte ancienne, Saint Graal etc et une qualité de scénario comme on en voit rarement dans ce type de jeux actuellement. Les personnages, même secondaires, sont intéressants, on retrouve l'humour inégalable de Gabriel et le sérieux de Grace (vous les incarnez tour à tour comme dans les épisodes précédents). Plus de vidéo comme dans le 2, les créateurs faisaient leurs premiers pas dans la 3D (du coup ça pique un peu évidemment).

Por que? Porque a menos que tengan una pc con Windows XP o anterior, les va a andar mal. EN SERIO, no es una loteria que capaz les ande bien. LES VA A ANDAR MAL. ¿Que es andar mal? Que se cuelgan cada 20 segundos, se traba , esta lleno de bugs. Son todos errores no del juego sino de lo NO OPTIMIZADO (ni siquiera mal) que esta para las nuevas pc.
Si, esta barato pero si no lo pueden jugar es igual a cero. Afortunadamente lo jugué hace años y se que es un lindo juego, es una lastima que no les interese arreglarlo.
NO ANDA, NO LO COMPREN, NO FUNCIONA BIEN. SE VAN A QUERER ARRANCAR LOS PELOS DE LA FURIA DE TANTO CUELGUE.

Hay un bug que arruina las partidas con el Sydney (la laptop de Grace).
Es al comienzo del Día 2, cuando llega Grace y te habla de la notebook para investigar. Si la primera vez que usas ese notebook estás en 1920x1080, los correos electrónicos (mails que recibe Grace) se mostrarán incorrectamente durante toda la partida.
Durante el DÍA 2, justo antes de usar SYDNEY por primera vez, cambia a 1024x768 y los correos se mostrarán correctamente.
Luego puedes volver a 1920x1080 y seguirás viendo los correos.
Asegúrate de usar una resolución compatible de forma nativa (640x480, 800x600, 1024x768) la primera vez que actives SIDNEY durante tu partida.
Cozy, atmosphere rich and intriguing. Gabriel Knight 3 is set in a small village in France where you as Gabriel and Grace are investigating the abduction of an infant child. With an interface not seen in any other major point-n-click adventure (to my knowledge) where you hover around like a drone camera you can really immerse yourself in the environments of the game while investigating with great accuracy, As far as adventure games go, this game has it all, the plot is like any good Agatha Christie novel mixed with occult and religious elements. Add to this, extremely well done voice acting which made me laugh so many times, and great puzzles and a gallery of memorable characters, this game will make you want to check in to a hotel in rural France asap and start looking for clues and interrogating hotel guests. And yes, the music is amazing and superbly fits the game world. This game is one of my all time favorites, but you will probably need a open mind, if you start playing it in 2020. Please do.
I bought this when I owned my previous computer. The textures were broken and the game locked up before I could get out of the first area. Not a great first impression.
When I got my new computer, I reinstalled the game and tried it out again. Now it's asking me for a CD. I went to the Steam message boards to see if there was a quick fix, but the solution involved grabbing an altered executable from GOG. And because the game folder's read-only and Windows has decided I don't have the privileges to change read-only status, all I had to do was log in as administrator, uncheck the "read-only," download software from another company's website, and then, and then...
Nah. NAHHHHH. For Gabriel Knight THREE? The worst game in the series? Nah. This is already too much effort. I'd expect these kinds of work-arounds if I were trying to run the game off of my old CDs from 1999, but for a digital version still being sold in 2020? This game should be ready to play on install.
You realize that for $6 I could've bought 20 McNuggets and had my choice of dipping sauces? You don't even get barbecue sauce with Gabriel Knight 3. Not even sweet and sour. And I wouldn't need to run tech support on my nuggies - they'd be ready for the end user right out of the takeout bag. Wouldn't have to steal honey mustard from Wendy's and double-fry them to make them edible. I'd just open up the box and enjoy.
But if you're, like, really big on the whole IKEA "some assembly required" thing and either really loved this game as a kid or have a hard-on for vampires and ugly, blocky, late-90s 3D models, then I *guess* this might be up your alley?
But seriously, don't buy this broken-ass version of a bad game. Consider either getting it on GOG or forgetting about GK3 entirely and going to McDonald's.
Sin duda uno de mis juegos favoritos desde que lo jugué a finales de los 90 y que hizo que me enganchara a las aventuras gráficas. Lo tiene todo: personajes interesantes, movilidad en el juego y sobre todo una historia fascinante que conforme la vas desentramando se revela como algo muy muy especial. El mejor trabajo de Jane Jensen hasta el momento. Tengo el juego desde que lo compré y desde entonces lo he jugado varias veces porque siempre hay algo que se me pasa, por eso nunca he conseguido tener el máximo de puntuación! A pesar de tener el juego físicamente no lo podía jugar en mi PC porque ya no es compatible pero en vez de usar un programa para poder usarlo me decidí a comprarlo en Steam. Pero la verdad es que ha sido bastante decepcionante la experiencia porque aparte de que no está en castellano y sí que se publicó en castellano en la plataforma no lo tienen. Además, para poder jugar sin que se bloquee y funcione tienes que jugar con la calidad más baja de gráficos y es una pena porque a pesar de ser en 3D el entorno del juego estaba muy logrado y te permite ver a tu alrededor 360°. Steam debería poner a la venta juegos que se puedan jugar de la misma manera en los ordenadores actuales que para eso es una plataforma de juegos y tienen la capacidad de hacerlo o que no lo pongan. En fin, aparte de esto, el juego es simplemente espectacular. Te engancha desde el primer minuto. La historia trata esta vez sobre el mito Santo Grial que se cree escondido en el sur de Francia, en Rennes le Chateau, lugar que existe y que el juego recrea estupendamente. Llevo años queriendo ir a visitar los sitios en los que se ambienta el juego!!! Gabriel se ve envuelto en el secuestro de un niño, hijo de un aristócrata escocés, perpetrado por un siniestro grupo que resultan ser vampiros y que quieren al niño por su especial sangre. Gabriel es ayudado de nuevo por Grace y entre ellos la relación se estrecha aún más y la tensión es palpable lo que le da al juego una capa emocional a parte del guion de la historia. Es un juego extremadamente difícil pero la interfaz creada por Grace y Sydney da un toque nuevo y diferente al juego lo que hace que a pesar de la dificultad, cuando avanzas te sientes sumamente orgullo de haberlo hecho porque no es nada fácil, sobre todo con el tema del manuscrito de Le Serpent Rouge. En definitiva, un juego indispensable que da horas de entretenimiento. El final es muy bueno también. Una única pega, en el juego se puede morir al final y yo, ODIO que se pueda morir en un juego!
Gabriel Knight 3 is credited with killing adventure games. Now, I see where it's coming from. A lot of puzzles in this game are bad. Really bad. The "cat hair moustache" puzzle has become the golden example of "moon logic" in videogames. However, with the simple addition of a gamefaqs guide, you'll find that GK3 is not just an excellent game, but an amazing one.
First of all, Tim Curry is back as the voice of Gabriel. You wouldn't believe the difference it makes, the man could carry the entire game on his back with his acting. The voice acting in general is very good, and really pulls you into the story.
The story? God. Gabriel knight has always been about secret societies, conspiracies and the occult, but this is the biggest one yet. We're not talking about some rinky-dink vodoo cult in New Orleans or some kraut werewolves in munich. This game deals with a far reaching, worlwide level web of conspiracies and secret societies dating back thousands of years, with immense consequences.
You might be mistaken by the title in thinking that this game is about vampires, but the vampires are just one of the many factions and people looking for the treasure hidden in France. Most characters in the game are looking for that treasure, and they are all hiding secrets.
Gabriel Knight 3 is built in such a way that you can finish the game without finding out a lot of these secrets, with quite a few missable moments and clues, and some almost insane puzzles (we're talking geometry and ♥♥♥♥ here) that you'd be hard pressed to figure out on your own. Thankfully, a guide is still useful here, and if you follow one you'll slowly but surely find out just how big the conspiracy is, and the secrets of those you know (and don't know), and the ending will not just blow you away, but make perfect sense while it happens.
After the disappointment of GK2, GK3 might just be the best one in the series, and this is no exaggeration. If you liked the other games, or hell, even if you just like adventure games, don't sleep on this one. You won't regret it.
Played this when it came out. I am a big fan of Sierra and Jane Jensen, but this was a miss for me. The story is overtly indulgent and dry. The game and the puzzles are tedious and dry. I tried to replay this and I am not feeling this anymore. I remember making through this in 1999 and not being nearly as impressed as with the first two games. Unfortunately, and I hate to do this, I can't recommend this.

I'm in a bit of a dilemma if I should recommend this. In one hand, even though this is ugly as sin, it's also one of my favourite game ever made. The story, atmosphere, writing, characters and setting are incredible and should be experienced by everyone. It even has the best puzzle in gaming history (Le Serpent Rouge puzzle). The thing is... you wont be able to experience it without tweaking it first.
The sad reality is that Gabriel Knight 3 is unplayable in modern systems (it's not specific only to this Steam version) and has been neglected and ignored by everyone responsible (whoever has the rights nowadays). You'll need to tinckle and tweak it to have an acceptable experience. I recomend following a guide I made a while ago.

As far as the gameplay goes - it's the usual point-and-click type of a game, but with clever additions to the genre. Whereas "Sins of the Fathers" was a traditional point-and-click and "The Beast Within" a groundbreaking FMV adventure, "Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned" employs a fully 3D rendered world and characters with a [b] free-moving camera [/b] (something I've not seen replicated in any of the future PNC games I've played). What this means is that you'll be able to, [i] using directional keys [/i], move around every corner of the location your character's in and explore every nook and cranny looking for hidden compartments and items. Sometimes this might seem overwhelming considering the sizes of certain locations, but it rarely devolves into [i] pixel-hunting [/i]. However, it does provide for a very dynamic gameplay loop and I loved the fact that you didn't have to watch your character walk from one end of the map to another because when you move the camera all the way to the door/exit, your character would be, for the lack of a better word, be [i] teleported [/i] right next to it - saving you, what might end up being, hours of your time. What this game also adds to the series is scripted events which only take place at a certain time so you might miss out on certain (optional) events if you're not careful enough. Thankfully, the game doesn't punish you for not having all the information or missing some of these events, so you don't have to constantly restore your save files to get that one dialogue you missed. While I'm on the point of information-gathering, there is also a laptop, which aids you in the more complex puzzles the game offers, called SIDNEY. SIDNEY has the ability to translate, analyze, print etc. your clues which you feed into her (like license plates, fingerprints, photos, maps and audio-tapes). A large part of the game revolves around you solving the riddle of the "Red Serpent" which is this huge 13-part collection of notes which helps you locate a certain tomb. This is done, mostly, through reading the cryptic passages, searching the internet for keywords, getting secret codes from paintings and mapping it all onto the map of the place you're in. This is the only part of the game where I felt frustration because of certain clues not being clear enough so I ended up placing markers on the map on what I thought were the right spots, but due to the nature of the text, I placed them horizontally, instead of vertically, and I had to look up the exact part online. Anyways, despite my frustrations with it, it is a unique puzzle that makes you feel like a true adventurer while you're doing it.
Technically, the game ran smooth for me most of the time. Keep in mind, I didn't try running it vanilla. I only started it after I had set up DgVoodoo and changed the resolution to 1920x1080 so my graphics were incredibly sharp and the game looked gorgeous. The only problem that I've encountered was the E-mail section of the laptop. There's a point, near the end of the game, where you have to access an E-mail to progress, but every time I opened the E-mail tab - it was blank. I found out that this was due to my 1080p setup and the E-mails were actually showing out of the screen and were unclickable. Due to this, I had to download a save file - which was in native resolution - access the E-mail from there and then just quickly set up the resolution back and it was smooth sailing from there on out.
[b] All in all, if you're a fan of adventure games in general, I really don't think you'll want to miss out on this one. [/b] Each GK game is standalone, so if any of them seem particularly interesting, you can just play them in any order - the only thing you'll be missing out on is a couple of references to prior events. However, I would not recommend this one to beginners of the genre due to its complex narrative and highly ambitious UI. If you're looking to get into the genre with GK games, I would then recommend "The Beast Within", which is also my most favourite of the trilogy. That's it. Cheers!
Des dialogues lourds et machos, un premier puzzle pas justifié, n'aident pas à passer outre la 3D et les contrôles datés. J'ai voulu m'accrocher pour l'histoire mais fini par abandonner.
Dommage car le coeur de l'histoire était prometteur et Gabriel Knight 2 est un point & click excellent.
A part le fait qu'il aurait bien besoin d'une version "enhanced" toujours un excellent jeu d'aventure

Gabriel Knight 3 is a point and click game that might be good, but runs so poorly on modern systems that is essentially unplayable. It has a number of issues that requires frustrating workarounds. This game has no business being on Steam in its current state. This is really a negative review of the technical aspects, rather than the gameplay. The game itself is generally regarded as decent.

Having played and thoroughly enjoyed the first 2 games in the Gabriel Knight series, I'm sad to say I was disappointed with this third game - too ponderous for me. The difficulty level was also a bummer for me - during my 15 odd hours playing I had to refer to a walkthrough on far too many occasions, which takes away the fun and satisfaction of solving the puzzles yourself. If there was a mid-ground between yes/no to recommend this game, I would have used it. For those who enjoy a challenge, are into the genre, and don't mind the dated graphics and game mechanics, I would say have a go. Me ... I'm too impatient and hell, life is too short (and my Steam catalogue way too large) to waste too many hours on games that aren't doing it for me :)
I love the game, but this version doesn't work anymore. I bought it in French twenty years ago, in English again a few years later, I've been to Rennes-le-Château pretty much every year since then, so yeah, I really love this game. But this Steam version just doesn't work anymore with Windows 10. On one of my PCs, the game now freezes if I ever try skipping an animation, and at random other times. On my current brand new PC, it asks me to "Insert CD 1", so I cannot even reach the title screen. Maybe you can dive into compatibility modes, or get it on GoG; good luck.
Edit two years later: same problem. I just tried, but nope, insert CD 1.
На самом деле игра неплохой Point to Click, для своего времени даже очень. Но сейчас играть тяжко, во первых графика, отсутствие русской локализации, графические артефакты.
Но если на первое и второе можно забить, то третье порой не дает Вам пройти некоторые сюжетные места.
Не вижу смысла писать большой обзор, если кратко это третья игра в серии где мы играем за детектива по сверхъестественным делам, мистика, тайна, и в 2020 вы купите игру только (для количества, в паке с другой игрой, ради ностальгии) нужное подчеркнуть.

I love and miss Sierra they made wonderful games like the beast within and etc. Now let's talk about the things about the game itself you play as the man himself Gabriel Knight you start off in you're hotel room and explore the hotel for a bit. i don't to give to much away because might be reading this for the first time. they have some issues with it though which i done a lot of research for and i finally found it https://steamcommunity.com/app/497360/discussions/0/3658515990049816764/ follow these rules then you're game will be fixed. one issue with the fix it's way to dark so right click on you're mouse when you see the options when you see Gamma it will make it brighter so you can see. This game isnt optimized for Windows 10 at ALL! Ive tried EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING! WTF release a game that cant be played on modern gaming rigs?!?!? Its times like these I wish for games as ancient as these we did get a dosbox version.
Pros: Very compelling story and interesting characters. Like the previous two Gabriel Knight games, this game is stuffed with stories, information, legends and lore. The voice acting is superb. Seriously, check the cast.
Cons: The camera/control scheme in this game is weird but you get used to it quickly. The graphics are not great. You may find all the extra historical tidbits and lore boring if you're not into that kind of thing.
I enjoyed it and recommend this and the previous two Gabriel Knight games.
Sorry, at the beginning I´ve given poor points to this game, because the graphics made me crazy...not in a good way though:) After switching to ´Software rendering´at the settings panel, the game become playable! So naturally i would recommend this wonderfull adventure to all gamers!!
