There's a puzzle that involves Freddi Fish taking the chocolate covered worm doodle off of a fisherman's fish hook without getting caught. This can mean one of two things:
a) The humans (cars? Spy Fox talking animals?) in the Freddi Fish world know that the fish are sapient and are intentionally using their most famous junk food brands to kill them
or
b) worm doodles are actually a brand of fish bait and that's why the fish love eating them

Oh, this game's world-building. It's just so rich and full of lore...

Заметно короче первой части и проще, хотя количество сторонних активностей и различных объектов для кликанья на каждом экране всё так же обильно. Пропали катсцены в стиле "тем временем", которые разбавляли бродилки по локациям и делали повествование более цельным, несмотря на простенький сюжет. В целом, всего интересного просто мало, меньше чем в первой части. Для коллекции пойдёт, а так - среднячок, но в фирменном стиле студии.

A Sequel worth diving into!

Freddi Fish and Luther are a great dynamic duo that benefit the story greatly. Animations, Artstyle, Gameplay all are very well done while having a very spooky story that's interesting and engaging.

More puzzles that were fun to solve, more items to collect, more things to interact with and more fantastic cutscenes. It's a great sequel that adds on and improves almost everything from Freddi Fish 1.

Легендарная игра, играл в неё когда мне было лет 5-6, потом как-то название, сюжет да и в целом игра забылась, но остались образы в голове. Недавно наткнулся на эту легенду среди игр в магазине steam, в голову резко ударила волна ностальгии и разблокированных воспоминаний,, Спустя почти 20 лет снова запустив этот шедевр, я смог запустить настоящую машину времени - в душе сразу стало тепло и спокойно при виде этих пиксельных спрайтов. На самом деле если убрать эмоциональную составляющую, то меня даже в 2026 году удивило количество интерактивных элементов и анимаций, практически на каждый камень можно нажать и проиграется уникальная анимашка, нарисованная вручную, очень клевая залипашка на самом деле. По уровню сюжета игра конечно же очевидная и детская (что не удивительно), но очень по-доброму все сделано и я уверен что у детей реально дедуктивные навыки будет развивать и я даже думаю неплохо. Смело могу сказать что очень постараюсь сделать так, чтобы мои дети поиграли в эту игру когда будут в достаточном возрасте для этого. Очень приятная, волшебная, добрая игра, которая учит правильным моральным ценностям (добро к окружающим, делиться, выручать друзей, не воровать и тд). Если вы выросли в начале нулевых, то смело можете на один вечер открыть для себя портал в прошлое и вспомнить лучшие деньки, а если у вас уже есть детишки, тогда смело дайте им попробовать сыграть в эту замечательную игру. Я уверен что им будет интересно и весело.

A fun dash of nostalgia for those who played this as a kid, and a good game for the newer young'uns just learning how to A-B-C.

As for adults who have never touched this before, skip this, unless you have a penchant for games designed for Pre-K to early elementary children. Hey, nobody's judging you!

As for the game itself, well... it's easier than tying a pair of shoelaces. And its goofiness outweighs its logic by a mile. But frankly, one could argue that the latter's actually part of its charm. Welcome to the 90's, folks.

It's also a short game, but there's a lot to discover if the player clicks on everything and travels everywhere. The Worm Doodles commercial in the theater is pretty funny! And it also has a bit of replay value, considering that the list of items to be found isn't always the same.

So, yeah. A goofy little kid's game that still holds up well enough today. Buy it for the really young kids who need to learn some motor skills, or for yourself if you want to relive part of your childhood.

It's alright game but hard to recommend for adults who never played any Humongous Entertainment games or has nostalgia for Freddi Fish.

It's at least better than earlier Putt Putt games in terms of gameplay, being a bit harder to figure out and having item randomisation.

Better than early Putt Putt games in terms of environment design/atmosphere, be it graphic design or clickable objects being more interesting to look at.

But it does have downsides in terms of one of the most boring premises for a game from Humongous Entertainment(especially for Freddi Fish franchise, we started with the 1st game being about finding kelp seeds treasure or all fish would be doomed, and we have a ghost mystery story in the second game)

And another downside of both Freddi Fish 1 and 2 is the lengths. Don't get fooled by 2.8h, the single playthrough is just about an hour long, give or take,

Overall, it's ok game to get if you're getting it from Freddi Fish bundle, but you aren't missing much if you decide to skip it since Freddi Fish 3,4 and 5 were way better in terms of gameplay and even story.

[h3]A Delightfully Fun Underwater Mystery Adventure[/h3]

[i]Freddi Fish and the Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse[/i] is the second instalment in the [i]Freddi Fish[/i] series. In this second mystery story, Freddi and Luther, two young fish, try to recover the stolen toys of their guppy friends while also trying to figure out who's pretending to be a ghost behind the thefts.

As with their first adventure, Freddi and Luther encounter other fish friends in their quest to solve a mystery. In this story, the two plan a trap for the "ghost" behind the toy thefts, and seek out various items to create their elaborate trap. Which items they need to find [b]changes each time[/b] the game is played! Though the overall trap is the same, which items are missing is not always the same, resulting in slightly different encounters and activities. Unlike the first story, in which the two friends have the exact same experiences with other marine life, that differs somewhat in [i]The Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse[/i]. For instance, the pair may or may not have to barter with Eddie the Eel. These changing scenarios add so much replayability to the game. It is one of the things I like most about these games.

The trap items are not the only things that change with each playthrough: so do the locations of the purple urchins (that's right, we collect purple sea urchins again in this instalment), how to solve a knot puzzle, and the combination to a lock. I really like that some things are not precisely the same with each iteration of the game; having them move around and/or change the solution makes the game feel fresh and more fun!

There are a lot of fun extras in the game as well. There are a few mini-games, including a slider puzzle (its image changes, too!) and a target-practice-type game. Players can click on tons of images on screen and have things happen (changes in shape, fish swim about, and so on). These are the kinds of things that are [b]not needed[/b] but have a [b]positive impact[/b] on the game. It shows that the developers thought about their audience and wanted to keep them entertained. I love it!

We also have a few callbacks to the first game in the series, including a key item from the first adventure, as well as some fish friends (and foes). And, of course, the game gets a bit musical! Such fun!

Considering that this game was released in 1996, it holds up really well today. The adventure is fun, the characters are amusing, and the variability makes it worth playing over and over again. I rate [i]Freddi Fish and the Case of the Haunted Schoolhouse[/i] 5/5. I prefer it over the first game, because it offers more changes with each playthrough, and it feels even more adventurous than the first. It's a great game for children and adults alike.

[b]Worm Doodles! [i]You've got to have them![/i][/b]

I didn't quite get to play this one growing up, but I can see how it carries the torch for the original. This one was perhaps a lot more musical than the first, though they both have lots of songs. It seems like there might be more characters open to bouts of song in this one though. Also, there are some fun callbacks to the previous game and, of course, some easter eggs for other Humongous Entertainment titles to be found. In fact, this one even teases TWO games that were not out yet: Pajama Sam and Spy Fox. I love seeing these, and it's a fun peak behind the scenes and a look at things to come for the eagle eyed viewer...or fish eyed in this case...I guess.

Anyways, I think this series is great. This game continues to present a ton of interesting characters, fun dynamics, and beautiful art to look at. There's lots to see and even some cool minigames and activities to find. One of these is Crab Invaders, which is a sort of Space Invaders game. There's also this board in the school house that, within the confines of what tools it gives you, will let you draw anything...and I do mean [i]anything[/i] and it will stay up on the board for the rest of the game. I think you can see the comedic potential here, but also just a fun little bit of artistic expression.

Overall, I think this game will be a hit with kids, as I'm sure it wasy back then. I recommend picking this up either in the Freddi Fish Complete Pack or the Humongous Entertainment Complete Pack, ideally on sale.

It's amazing, it's spectacular. It's the gold standard of children's video games. I could end the review here, really.

Just like pretty much every other Humongous game, it's a point and click adventure! it has randomized elements so that ideally every time you play this you'll see a couple of new different things every time, for your first few plays at least. That's about it for the gameplay, really, it's pretty simple.

The story this time around is that a ghost is going around stealing the toys of the kids at school. Freddi is a fearless tomboyish girl who I guess has absolutely no fear, I can only assume she's a little bit older than some of the other kids because she is completely not fooled at all by the 'ghost' and the sheet costume and totally unafraid even BEFORE she and Luther figure out that it is in fact just a sheet.

Anyway, their big idea is to build a trap to catch the ghost. There is no Ghostbusters references here, which is surprising, because later on there's a piece of the Jaw's theme during a certain area transition.

This game doesn't actually call out when you have the items relevant for a puzzle on hand already. There's also one puzzle in particular, a rope knot puzzle that you can solve I believe without actually having looked at the solution, which I think is neat. You just click four things in the correct order, but hey, that's one thing I actually hate in some other adventure games, where you have to have the item in your inventory to progress even if you 'just' know the solution, or if you're willing to just do some trial and error. This game avoids that, for this at least, which is cool.

Just like the first game, there's an NPC you can help out to get access to a new item, however, in this case it is an item that is very necessary, unlike the first game where it is pointless. I don't think there are any extra sea urchins in this game, so you need to find every one in the game to progress. It'd probably be nicer to the player if you could skip getting one, but it would also make helping this NPC useless, which I think is not the kind of reinforcement you want in a children's game. I also like that you do get rewarded, but you aren't told you will be rewarded for doing a good deed.

There's a couple minigames that I think are worth mentioning here. First in my heart is the unnamed rip-off of Space Invaders, but with crabs. It's kind of great, and it seemingly just keeps progressively getting faster and faster. Eventually some sort of a different crab shows up to start throwing rocks at you, and getting hit just slows you down for a moment, but even that can be enough to lose once you get far enough. If 3 crabs get to the bottom, it's game over. It's surprisingly fun.

There's also a blackboard which you can draw on, it has two sizes for your eraser, chalk, and a series of decals that you can freely place and play with. It's just MS Paint basically, but simplified for a child, and I actually think that's nothing but a good thing. And, just showing that extra bit of quality you get from a Humongous game, the decals (little childish drawings of various things such as computer or a pair of scissors or something) are actually 'chalk' so they can be partially erased. It's not like you're just dropping stickers on the screen. Additionally, and I thought this was super cool, whatever you draw on the chalkboard, can then be seen on the chalkboard from afar, and the chalkboard itself in the gameworld is sort of on an angle. I don't even know how they did that!

There's also a sliding block puzzle that has two solutions. You can just slide the blocks around until you can get the trident free, if you need the trident. Then, for extra credit and a little fanfare, you can keep sliding them around to complete the picture. I thought that was a nice touch.

Also, this game has a German U-boat captain in the form of a fish, and a German U-boat? I... was not expecting that, to say the least. Fortunately, there's no weird specific details as to nationality and so on (for instance in flag format or anything else) because that's not appropriate for a children's game but, it's still very much obvious if you're an adult, that guy is a German, and this is a German submarine that PROBABLY sunk during wartime if the giant hole in the side is any evidence. Wow. You can even go inside it, and it looks sort of like a spooky nightmare lit with an ominous red lamp.

Anyway, as mentioned at the beginning of the review this really all adds up to a very solid game. This is probably one of the best titles from Humongous, I think, because it's just so stellar. It even has a nice little ending.

Amazing, just amazing. They somehow managed to expand and surpass the already great gameplay loop from the first game! The writing of the returning characters is some of the best character development I've ever seen in the gaming period. The environments are beautiful and detailed with so many branching paths that really reward exploration. The boss fight with the shark goons at the end is straight up incredible. I could honestly gush about this game for hours but I think I’ve made my point. This game is another must play for new or returning Freddi Fish heads. Easily a contender for my game of the year.

I do not know if it is just me, or are the backgrounds and environments way more interesting in the first two "Freddi Fish", and especially in this one, than in all the subsequent entries?

I genuinely would have never anticipated I'd be writing a steam review for Freddi Fish as a grown ass man. However, I am legitimately a Freddi Fish fan at this point. After playing through the Kelp Seed Treasure with my 4 year old daughter we started part 2 before I had to go to work. She sat on my lap and excitedly told me where to direct Freddi too next and was actively invested in the toy the ghost stole lol. She even cried when I had to turn Freddi off and go to work. I want to rock one of those ironic women want me Freddi Fish fears me baseball hats. I'd rather be Freddi Fishin'

If you told me that this is a sequel to the first Freddi fish game then I would call you a liar. Sure, the game has the same villains but the plot is much more kid friendly with the theft of the guppys' toys. And almost every character breaks out in song in this game. Yes, I know the first game had the argh song but it made sense since the pirate was a musician. Here, there's no excuse for the random singing for any of the characters. Most of them are misses like me playing baseball or being arrogant enough to find a good indie movie when your friends want to watch the new comedy.

Anyways, no graphics mismatch like the first game which I welcome the newer graphics. I prefer the second game's plot to the first game since it's less of a tonal clash for the target audience. Not really a great Freddi Fish game though. No saves but there is a quit button this time around. Yay/s Still, no multiple endings in this game yet.

If you're a parent with a young child then get the third game. Better bang for your buck and your kid will be entertained by the multiple endings.

My kids enjoyed the Freddie Fish and Putt Putt games when they were kids, and now my grand children are enjoying them also. These are very well designed games for children 5 and up, and help teach children problem-solving skills as well as motor skills (using a mouse and keyboard). I highly recommend this game.

Всё также ностальгическая игра из детства. Хорошее продолжение.
В этот раз разработчики сделали больше локаций и во все добавили возможность прослушать песни персонажей, а также добавили возможность пропускать кат-сцены и реплики (чтобы при повторных прохождениях не тратить на них время). Появилась чуть большая вариативность.

Однако сюжет, по сравнению с первой частью, ощущается более коротким. Это конечно минус.

В остальном, провести часик, погрузившись в детские воспоминания - самое то.

i didn't play this game since i was 6 but somehow now as an adult i am really good at this game?? how? incredible. i must innately possess the impeccable qualities of a fish detective, coursing in my veins as a result of natural superiority. speaking of fish detective, i fish detect that this game is progressive as all hell.. they give freddi a gender neutral name and appearance, and according to the social constructs humanity is accustomed to, the general assumption is that freddi is a boy fish. this fact is even lampshaded in the very game itself, so you know it's very much intentional. oh how many children's senses of normalcy must have been shattered into pieces when freddi revealed herself to in fact be a girl fish. something much greater for social progression than most pieces of children's media would ever provide, let alone in the 20th century. how can freddi fish be a girl when she doesn't have a pink bow and lipstick? because it is 1996 now... welcome to the new world..

another important part of this game is the chocolate covered worm and how it looks very scrumptious. were i to wish to eat said worm, it would likely be a horrid mistake on my part. though i imagine a tasty gummy worm, the game's universe sees a literal worm, and i don't want to eat a worm. thus, the game poses a groundbreaking subversive concept to children: if you were a fish, you would want to eat a real life worm. name any other children's property – or hell, even adult property – that shares this message. you can't.

taking all of this into consideration, it's clear what the game's ultimate message is: if you complain about women in media, you should probably eat a worm. me personally, i shan't eat a worm. just gummy worms for me, because it is cool that freddi fish a girl. thank you!

Of the Humongous entertainment games aimed at children, the Freddi Fish ones stand out. Replay-ability is increased by some randomised elements which shake-up each play-through. Characters bursting out into song all the time is endearing. Mini-games can be fun. Like all the Humongous games, these are best played with a kiddo.

Première aventure intégralement complétée par ma petite geekette de 5 ans.
Un régale ! Nostalgie pour maman, des étoiles plein les yeux pour ma demoiselle.

Le scénario est sympathique, les énigmes accessibles (même si j'ai du intervenir une fois ou deux), les interactions nombreuses puisque tout bouge, chante, sous les nombreux clics possibles dans chacune des scènes. J'avais oublié qu'il y avait autant d'animations.

J'ai pris presque autant de plaisir qu'elle en l'accompagnant dans cette charmante découverte enfantine. Et lorsque le mot "fin" est apparu à l'écran, ses mots ont été "Quoi !?! C'est fini ? On en fait un autre...?" avec une moue façon chat de Shrek.
Je crois qu'elle est conquise, et je me réjouis à l'idée de continuer la collection à ses côtés.

The second title in the Freddi Fish series was a little bit better then the first; though it did throw the Quit Button in it.

It does well to reference the first game with characters and their impacts, has some interesting minigames included within, and the game was charming with Freddi and Luther having a bit more personality now. I also liked the mystery.

I'm tempted to say it was the best of the series, but I'll note that unlike the other entries in the series there is no 'final section' phase that you play through. You basically just acquire what you need to catch the bad guys - then you catch the bad guys and finish the game. It may have also went a little heavy in the songs department. Still, it did well enough to be worth recommending for play!

Played this game in English, when I didn't even understand any of it. A friend had the German version and just from playing that once with them, I memorized most of the dialogue.

In any case, if you have children, let them play this. It's entertaining, challenging and much more stimulating than just letting them watch YouTube all day or play some mobile games.

Very nostalgic! Played it with my baby cousins while babysitting them. It's actually a very good problem solving kind of game for kids! Watching them figure things out and only giving them a little nudge when needed, was enjoyable and so cute! We call it the fishy game and that whenever I visit to play one with them<3
